Nice teacher, class boring and a lot of info to know, read book!!!
Very boring class,no experience in teaching,a joke!(Class of 2001)
Great teacher. Tells you exactly what is on the tests.
Good teacher. Tells what is on the test and prepares you for them. Alot of reading
very nice and very helpful
Very fair and reasonable teacher. But it is hard to pay attention because she is hot.
she writes everything on the board when u r taking notes and as long as u get everything from lectures u don't have to read anything. basically go to class, get the info. and study from ur notes.
Very nice teacher! It reminds me of a highschool class! I havent once read my book, GO TO LECTURE!TAKE NOTES!... and thats all the info you need for tests. Only have to turn in 6 out of 10 labs! Shes Helpful! Lecture can be boring thats the only negative!
Nice teacher although her tests are very hard. The way she words her questions are very tricky and easy to miss points. you must work hard or take a pass/fail if you want to do well in her class and aren't good at science
easy easy class. my high school bio class was harder. u dont need 2 read the text at all and she doesnt take attendence. all tests based off lecture notes
easiest biology class i've ever taken. she goes through everything thouroughly and is straight to the point. tells you exactly what is on the test. i recommend her! she's such an easy grader and is just the best bio teacher ever
Easiest bio class ever! high school bio was harder than this class. Easy A if take good notes and review them for exams. only have to hand in 6 out of 10 labs. If she teaches after and exam and you stay, she give extra points. Definitely take!
nice lady tests r a little tricky but not a bad teach 2 take
No Comments
The class goes at a good pace. If you study for a couple hours before the exam and do the extra credit, you will end up with an A or a B - def
Really nice teacher. Large lecture, so she doesn't take attendance, but don't miss the labs! Take good lecture notes and the class is a breeze.

The easiest bio class. Helped me adjust to college bc stress was nonexistent. large lecture so attendance isnt mandatory. Dont miss labs. Class can get extremely boring at times. More like review from 12th grade bio. willing to answer ur questions thoroughly sometimes until ur too bored 2 care
Very easy class. She writes down all the important notes. Test and quizes come right from the lectures. Go to class and You'll be fine.
4 tests, non-cumulative final, 5 lecture quizzes, doesn't take attendence, gives a little x-tra credit which you'll need because the tests aren't easy, but not impossible either, if you know how to study you'll do fine
She doesn't take attendance, but I definitely reccomend going to classes. She goes over the material very well, which you'll need for the tests- they're really tough, especially the second one. She gives extra credit usually on Fridays, since that's the day most people don't show up- dont miss labs!
great teacher. she is very clear. tests are pretty hard though. show up to class and lab b/c all the notes are from class, not the book.
Great teacher just have to go to class becuase no test material comes from book. Labs are easy with no write up's. Take if you want an easy Bio experience!
Very nice! Tests right from lecture so make sure you go. Book supplements lecture. Lots of extra credit is given, labs are easy, and tests are long but not too bad. It's definitely an easy class, even for someone like me who hates and sucks at science. No attendance policy for lectures. Take her.
She is a great teacher. She goes at a very good pace and explains things very well. Her tests are not hard but not easy. I averaged a B on her tests with a lot of studying. Gives extra credits on Fridays to help boost your grade. Highly recommended class. I learned a lot.
Really nice lady...prob the easiest bio teacher at towson.
she is so damn sexy... oh, and she isnt a bad teacher at all
Very good class. The material is all in the book, so read the book to reinforce lecture. Pay attention in class and don't talk while she is teaching. It is rude and bothers other students. Do the work and you will do well. Don't think you can slack off because everyone says it is easy, still attend lecture and lab and study.
She is very good, and can explain things very clearly!
She is a very good teacher. I learned a lot. she explains every thing and offers help. If you attend class and study you will be fine. She is one of my favorite teachers.
Very cutesy in the timbre of her voice and the way she explains things. She looks amazing for 40-something with 3 kids. Draws and writes a LOT that you'll want to copy down. Tests are multiple choice with a couple short answer questions, and pretty hard if you haven't written down EVERYTHING and studied it intensely. Helpful and nice.
The material is tough in general but she makes it as easy as possible. Tests are pretty straight forward and labs are easy. If youre terrible at science like me take her! Great teacher!
This class was really easy if you actually go to lecture. She only takes attendence at lab, but she offers tons of extra credit if you go to lecture. There's four non-cumulative [mostly] multiple choice exams and no homework or anything. Absolutely do not buy the book. I think she's the easiest bio teacher at towson.
She's really nice. I'm not a science person, but she made the class as easy and understandable as possible. She doesn't take attendance in lecture, but it's better if you go because she gives surprise extra credit quizzes once in a while that can really help. Good class to take if you need a lab. She's cool.
Boring class but she makes it easy, just make sure you go to lab!
She was a good teacher. Lecture exams were easy, never studied. She gives you a study guide. Just look over it and review the things you dont know and you will be fine. She gave you lab quizes every period which were pretty easy. Her class was an easy A. Take her if you can
Amazing teacher, great lectures and easy labs
Wonderful professor, take notes and study the material from the study guide and you will do fine. Labs are easy too, just make sure you show up.
She is a great professor with a clear and relatable way of teaching. Lectures and labs were both interesting and she had extra credit pop quizzes every few classes which was a plus. She was kind of shy but had a cute sense of humor. I would recommend you take this class!
She is a great professor with a clear and relatable way of teaching. Lectures and labs were both interesting and she had extra credit pop quizzes every few classes which was a plus. She was kind of shy but had a cute sense of humor. I would recommend you take this class!
She was a great teacher. Class isnt hard, just study the material. She gives a study guide which is excatly what is on the test. interesting class.
Awesom teacher...very enthusiastic about what she teaches. Alot of quizes and 6 exams but if you study they should come easily especially the quizes. The labs were fun if you had a good group. She definitley knew what she was talking about. I loved it!!!
Good teacher. Very difficult tests. NOT AN EASY A!!!
the teacher is great, class can be long, but they are very good to go to, labs were fun, at least what i thought, the test can be hard, but not to bad if you study the essay questions... i would take the class
I loved prof healey she's very nice and helpful. she explains material very well and gives good notes. tests are challenging but its a class you need to study for. labs are long but interesting.
Professor Healey explained all subjects very clearly and repeated the main ideas and concepts multiple times to make sure it came across. A lot of work outside of class is required to get an A but if you take really good notes you should be fine. Very nice lady and very helpful too.
I loved Prof. Healey! She is very approachable and explained everything clearly. The class is a lot of work, but if you have to take bio 190 i would definitely take her.
Good teacher, but tests are very hard. Must understand concepts INSIDE AND OUT. Go to study groups and do the study ?. Clear concepts, get a good grade if you study hard. DONT FALL BEHIND!
She gives really clear, explicit lecture notes, but sometimes can get lost in her own explanation. You definitely have to study a lot, and class is long, but she is a pretty good teacher. Do not be afraid to ask her questions or use the learning resources she offers you - they will help a lot.
great prof. pop quizzes are her thing. make sure you read before each class and complete all assignments, its almost garanteed to be on an assessment. her study guides and note are clear and rep whats going to be on the test. LABS ARE LONG, but kind of fun. TAKE HER!!
Although I got a C she is really helpfully and understanding of everything. I was just a little bit too lazy but did well enough to pull out a C... Take her class... you wont regret it for the most part
Professor Healey was my favorite teacher by far at Towson University. Beautiful person. Loving/caring personality. Has a passion for biology and explains it all in a way that makes it comprehensible/interesting. She gives you a great perspective on biology and teaches relevant information. If you take bio 190, Prof. Healey is THE teacher to have.
Loved this class. She's very nice & funny. Short daily quizzes (easy if you review notes), 5 unit tests, & final. Must study! Not easy. However, she's very helpful. Answers any questions. Very organized on blackboard/in class. Very clear with what we need to know. Handwrites notes using ELMO: very helpful for taking notes. Definitely take class!
One of the best profs I've had at Towson - lectures via ELMO are incredibly clear, know exactly what she expects from students, offers numerous review sessions before exams. Go to class and study!! She is THE prof to have for this class.
if you are required to take bio 190 take it with prof. healey! tests are 10 multiple choice, a page of fill in the blank or diagram and an essay. i strongly advise to read the homework chapters and outline them for better clarification. its a lot of work but definitly worth the A in the end. you can also email her for help or go to her office
dont take biology 190 with anyone besides prof healey. the curriculum is hard but she makes it as easy as it can possibly be to understand. do the assigned work, go to the study sessions, and study for the tests and you should be okay.
Its a hard class but the information is useful. She makes you work hard for an A. To pass it is necessary to come to every class for the in class quizzes and test material. Sometimes rambles. Still an ok professor.
This is a very hard class. You have to study hard. Her tests are very difficult and she gives hard questions on the test. She's a very nice lady but she makes a basic class very hard If you can take someone else
Biol 190 is difficult no matter who you take but without a doubt healey is the best. She tries really hard to help you overall and is a pretty easy grader but her tests are so hard because she goes into detail so you cant memorize the material you actually have to understand all of it. Work hard throughout, and you'll be fine
The material is difficult, but the teacher is absolutely wonderful! She gives study sessions before every test that is an open session where you can ask any questions you have. She seemed a little dry at first but she became very interesting once you caught onto her. Would retake classes with her if I had an opportunity!
If you've taken biology in high school, the class builds upon it a bit, going into little more depth. If it's your first bio class, it will be difficult. However, the professor is clear and helpful. Some exam questions can be tricky, but you can do ok if you know the material.
Do not take Bio 190 UNLESS YOU HAVE HEALEY! The material is not particularly hard to understand but there is alot of material covered. Healey is extremely helpful and wants you to do well in her class. You definitely have to put in alot of work to get an A, but Healey holds study sessions and is very approachable and willing to answer questions.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE HEALEY! She is the most amazing professor I have ever had. She is willing to help at anytime. She is very clear in her lectures. She doesn't post powerpoints so take good notes. She gives a study guide for every test, lets you know when there will be lecture quizzes. Book isn't necessary if you take good notes
Pam is a great professor. She was very interested in the subject. and she wants you to do well in the class. you need the textbook. must take notes, thus must attend class. exams are difficult, so STUDY WELL. and answer the study question as you go along in class. they will help
Difficult material but professor Healey does a good job teaching it. Make sure you do well on LAB activities because they will help boost your grade! Also recommended to go to the study sessions they usually bump your test up one letter grade. Textbook is a good resource to have. Tests are HARD- find a study buddy it makes life easier.
Great Teacher! Biology is a hard subject so don't expect to sleep in it. She does her best to make you understand. She can be funny sometimes. Tests are really hard so study study study! Doesn't give a lot of outside homework but you should still study on your own
I was very lucky to get Professor Healey, because the last time I took biology was sophomore year of High School. She's the best professor but the tests were definitely hard. Make sure you take notes in class! They help A LOT. and DO THE STUDY GUIDE QUESTIONS even though they're not mandatory. They will help you out significantly for the final.
Great class Healey is very knowledgable. You do have to study but you get study questions at the start of each unit. DO NOT not study unless you just know the stuff already you will fail. She is really helpful and wants you to pass.
hard class
She is probably one of the best teachers I have had. I highly recommend her. She gives study questions for every test and has two study sessions. She is an easy grader. Take her if you can!
Best professor I've had so far at Towson, super clear lectures and always willing to help. Hard class, but she's a mom of college kids so she understands. Lots of work and you must show up, doesn't take attendence but i'd advise you to go to Every class. she's funny sometimes too. take her!!
Towson makes biology 190 harder then it needs to be. Healey is a good teacher but her exams are extremely difficult. class average was a 69% most of the kids in my class are retaking it. i recommend taking this class at a community college if u want a passing grade. Her study guides are nothing like the exam.
If you dont take prof. Healey you're crazy ! She is very passionate about biology. bio 190 is not an easy class, she makes it so that you understand the material. she is always there to help and will answer questions. she is an anal test grader , you HAVE to read the text book or you'll fail. the material is much more important then a grade.
This class is hard but not impossible. Take advantage of the study questions she gives and go to the study sessions. Go to lecture even though she doesn't take attendance. Tests are hard and cover a lot of material. Half the class dropped the class mid semester. Have heard of easier bio 190 teachers but Healey isn't terrible.
This course was challenging, but Professor Healey made it as clear as it could be. Healey gives you a list of study questions at the start of each unit and posts the main slides of her lecture online. She is a tough grader, but she wants you to so well. She also provides studyreview sessions every unit
Bio 190 is one of the hardest classes but Prof Healey really tries to help you understand. If you do the work she assigns before class and do all the study questions you will pass. Participate in class and stay engaged she has a monotone voice but if you make yourself pay attention you can learn ALOT. Would recommend.
She is very passionate about Biology, and she explains things very clear, but you cannot just rely on lecture. You have to read the textbook, and do the extra assignments, but it is worth it. The online quizzes that she offered saved my grade. She is always for help either by office hours, appointment, or the many study sessions she holds.
This is not a difficult course but one that is detailed. Tests require you to REALLY know the material and have an understanding of it. Prof Healey is awesome and will explain everything you find trouble with. She is available during office and will work with your schedule by appointment. I enjoyed it and made sure to know my work inside out!!
Professor Healey really knows the material that she is teaching and will do whatever she can to help you learn it. Despite being a bit boring, she is overall a very nice lady and wants to help you succeed. That being said, this course is really difficult and has a huge workload. Studying and attendance are necessary for passing this class.
Professor Healey is a good professor. But you HAVE to do the readings that she assigns on the syllabus. If you dont do the readings, you wont really know whats going on in lecture. Shes a pretty tough grader on tests though, so you really have to study and know the content. Otherwise, she's really nice, and is there for you if you need her.
She's a great professor she knows what she's talking about and is always willing to help. She holds quite a few study sessions that I recommend going to. Her tests are hard so you really need to know the material, but she posts her slides online and if you copy those notes, add from the textbook, and do the study questions you'll do well.
She literally gives the hardest tests and offers her help but when you meet with her all she will tell you is to read the textbook more thoroughly. She does not give extra credit and says half of the people who take her class fail and have to take it again. It is absolutely ridiculous and I 100% do not recommend taking her for this class.
Boy. These tests. HARD. Other friends that take BIO190 with other professors laugh when I tell them the questions on our tests because they don't know them. If you don't read the text you will fail the test. In fact, usually more than half the class fails the test. Maybe it's just me but I think that means the teacher should change something.
Biology 190 is a hard class, but if you take her advice and do ALL of the work, you will do well. She gives study sessions, study questions, and she of course assigns a lot of reading. She will give quizzes, but they help you to understand the material. Work hard, study a lot, go to class. She is the nicest teacher ever.
Biology 190 is difficult and detail oriented. Healey is a very good teacher, but I hear she is a tough grader. Many students failed the first exam, so you will need to study. Just study, do all the homework, and do well in lab and you will get by.
She is a great Biology professor. Although most of your learning is on your own, she helps clarify what you do not understand. She's is always available and understanding. She's both a loving mom and professor. She cares for her students and understands what's the best way to teach her students. Definitely take her class.
Healey is very nice and she puts out a lot of helpful links on blackboard for you to look at. You will need to study to pull of a passing grade. If you are not doing well in lecture, try to work hard at the labs. The labs are super easy, as long as you present your topic well, you are good! She is a harder grader than other teachers, but still good
hate her. i study the day the unit starts up until the test day and i still get 70s. tests are hard and worth a lot of your grade. homework almost everyday after lecture. i type my notes and i do 15-20 pages per unit. no midterm but there is a final. i suggest taking someone else for bio
Healey was one of my favorite professors! She is very helpful and always welcoming for one-on-one help. She gives great feedback as well. There is a lot of homework and it is a challenging course but all Bio190 classes are hard and she gives you many tools to really understand the content.
