The hottest teacher ever. Wish she taught every class.

Dr. Maack is pretty cute, but even if she weren't her class is something you should take. She will challenge you for your opinion and let you know if you are being ethnocentric. Be prepared for discussions on every level and you will enjoy this class!

I absolutely loved this class. Dr. Maack made Anthropology so fun. She is very passionate about the subject, and she explains everything carefully so that you will understand why certain cultures do the things that they do. Her stories are also fun.

It's a very interesting class. I look forward to it every Monday. You'll learn alot of interesting things. It is strongly recommended

I haven't even taken her yet and I think she is great...see her in the hall all the time, very cute, she always dresses very nice, so fashionable....please don't change, can't wait to take her spring 04...:)

Wonderful class! You get to learn and laugh with her at the people in the class that are so close minded they can't see straight. As well as the ones that have no idea what's going on. She is very nice on the eyes too!

Tanzania & Male Stereotyping, her main topics. Her class was interesting, a breath of fresh air from a conventional close-minded, singular Texas. Gets very defensive about female subjects and (DO NOT STEREOTYPE)stereotypes males.

Her class is simple and she is easy to follow, but if at anytime in the class discussion, you disagree with her far left ideologies she will not attack your ideas, but try to insult and embarass you personally. Not fair with class discussions, but easy a.

Good Teacher, but you can't just read the book to pass the class. Plus, the classes can be very interesting, good to go.

AWESOME teacher, makes you want to become an anthropologist (although I didn't). So intellectual and full of stories. Great class and EXTREMELY easy tests, even w/ the essays. All material reviewed in lectures so best not to skip class.

Very nice. Lots of examples. She talks alot about her field work and its very intersting. She uses real life example to explain concepts and situations. The class really opens up your mind and helps you not be so ethnocentric.

Dr. Maack does have some good stories and examples to back up the material covered. Some days I liked her others I didn't. Pay attention, read the textbook, take good notes, and study for her exams and you'll do fine. Make sure to listen up in class for her possibly essay questions on her test!

You DO NOT have to kissup, I never even talked to her and got an A. And I disagree that she attacks students personally, she just tries to make them see things from a different perspective. Obviously, I liked her, she told interesting stories and it was an easy class. She is a bit eccentric though, sometimes annoying in an 8:30 class.

Dr. Maack is an excellent professor. Show up, take notes, and the tests are easy. She is very straight-forward with what is expected and she will challenge you to think differently. It was CULTURAL anthropology, we discussed people from around the world. Very interesting class. Do not miss and you will do fine.

She Is hillariously weird

I took her class in 1990 and loved her. She was one of those teachers that you always remember. She was very inspiring and made me open my mind to other cultures. I wish I would have been brave enough to pursue a similar career, but life took over!

It's hard for some people of the rural Central campus area to understand Mrs. Maacks positions on issues, keep in mind she's worked in Tanzania & the forgotten pueblos of the Southwest. Once you understand what she's seen you'll understand her, maybe some of you guys should venture outside of Deer Park and grow up. A+++++

Great teacher. Thoroughly explains all of her materials. You do not need to buy the book. I took her class her without buying a book and made a high B average. Make sure you do not miss her class because her exams are over the lecture notes.

Strange lady. Highly eccentric but really does know her stuff. If you can ignore her weird stance on issues, excessive fashion, and craziness, then you should take her. She does make class interesting and she is anything but borring. Her tests are extremely easy as long as you half-pay attention and take decent notes. I am a high A in her class.

Easy!!!! Take notes, don't miss class, speed read the book and you definitely get an A. If you don't take notes, miss the class, and don't read the book... you could still make an A. Its up to you!!!

awesome lady.. she kept the class really interesting... she gave us a review sheet which was pretty much an outline of our notes during the summer session... you really didnt need to read the book unless you missed class... but she was really interesting so i never bothered. we did have essays on our exams but they were really straight forward.

I took her online and it was wonderful, except for all the cry babies in the class (you know who you are) There are 4 test and 4 disscussion questions. The dq's are easy just put some thought into them and she will give you a fair grade.

Dr. Maack is awesome. Its a great class -- unless you are right of Ghengis Khan like the previous posters. Highly recommended.

I took Professor Maack this past semester in an online course. As long as you pay attention to blackboard, buy the assigned text and write well about the given topics she assigns you. You will do well. I made an "A", I wish I would have taken her in a face to face class, but oh well.

GREAT CLASS! She is very funny and has a very outgoing personality. Her lectures are super interesting. I would definitely take this class again!!!!!

Took online ANTH-2351. Study the textbook - especially the 'case studies'. Check in on Blackboard regularly. Time the time & effort to write good essays. Dr. Maack was helpful and responded quickly to questions.

GREATEST teacher in the world! her favorite word is "****" =). she is really down to earth, and her exam are straight frm lecture so going to class is mandatory!she ALWAYS let you out early, and really one easy teacher! take her if you can trust me, i got an A. an easy A! =)

Took her anthropology class online, she is very clear and precise, and doesn't overload you with useless work. Very prompt with replies. She e-mailed compliments to me out of the blue, which was very encouraging. I'm taking another class of hers next semester, I highly suggest her.

Easy outgoing teacher. Very Helpful and you'll learn alot if you listen. She is very honest when it comes to confronting close minded comments/ideas. Just come to class and she should be interesting enough for you to pay attention and if you pay attention you'll pass the tests. There are essay questions but if you have a brain then you'll do fine.

I absolutely adore Dr. Maack. I have taken her for Cultural Anthro and Archaeology and soon to be General Anthro. She is amazingly smart, gives great lectures and tests are fairly easy as long as you pay attention in class/take notes.

I took her for Cultural and loved her class. Her tests come straight from lecture, so make sure you attend class. I just reviewed my notes a little before class, and still made an A. You have to do three short essays on the exams, but they're almost impossible to fail. Show up, listen, participate and you'll do fine.

Great & easy teacher, very helpful. this was a fast paced class, and I still made an A. I recommend her I also took her for Anth 2315.

I took a beginner anthropology class 13 years ago and I still think of Dr Maack's class to this day. She is a great teacher and am glad to see she is still chipping away at young minds. Thank you Dr. Maack.

All I can say is Dr. Maack is WONDERFUL!!!

Cultural Anthropology is the most interesting class that I've ever taken. In fact, I would like to major in anthro now. Maack is a very intelligent professor and is really passionate about anthopology. I would recommend this class to anyone who is willing to have an open mind and would like the chance to see the world in different ways.

Took the online course so the book was an absolute must. You basically read and then take quizzes online for the entire course. The class is taken at your own pace so you can knock it out early or wait til the last minute (not advised). Overall I enjoyed it, just read and go over the reviews and you'll do well.

Fun class, and the subject grows on you. She has real world experience, and makes the lectures personal allowing you to get more involved with the content. I took her class for introduction to archeology. Just Show up for class and listen.

I took her for Gen. Antro and it was an interesting class. She's an interesting character but overall I liked her. All her test Q's come straight from the review n 3 essay Q's. I'd take her again. She does cuss alot! lol.

This is a great teacher. Her tests are hard, but you will learn much about Anthropology. Ignore these others complaining about her. This treacher covers every aspect of anthropology. She used comedy and talks to us students like the young adults that we are. I am glad to have been in her class and she has my respect, as she deserves it.

Took this class onine. Easy class. YOU MUST READ the reviews and textbook. Most of the questions to her quizzes are from the reviews sheets she provides, but there is usually one or two questions that she doesnt put in the review to make sure you read the text. Dr. Maack is WONDERFUL! Talks A LOT; especially about her daughter. But she's no where near boring. She makes the subject so interesting. If you don't know anything about it, you don't have anything to worry about. She'll explain it all with detail. She uses powerpoints for notes, which makes it easier, & talks more about what each slide says. I highly recommend you to take her class. I love it.

Professor Maack is a wonderful instructor! Test material comes straight from her lectures which sometimes lead to interesting debates.Keep in mind that a debate involves different views, so if you take her don't get all offended b/c you don't like what is said. Highly recommend her!!!

I took her for Cultural Anthro. The class is very interesting and the way she looks at the world is refreshing. I am considering going into Anthropology because of her. She'a a fantastic teacher and understands her students very well. Don't use the book very much, can probably go without it. Power points and attendance is all you need.

Took her 5 week mini summer. Responds to emails fast. Class had 12 tests that are 5 Qs each, 5 journal entries that are worth 5pts each, and 3 discussion posts worth 5pts each. She grades very easy on writing assignments, so you only have to worry about the tests. Every question missed is a point off your final average. Must read book.

You could tell she was very interested in the subject. The textbook was very confusing though; it made it kind of hard because the mini tests and discussion board were all based on the text. In the discussion board she gave you points for effort. Very understanding and nice.

I absolutely loved this online course. Professor Maack was by far my favorite professor even though I could not see her face to face. She is always a click away. Answers emails fast and explains whatever you may be confused on. You do have to read the book though. It may be confusing at first but it is interesting. I highly recommend her.

Couldn't have chosen a better archaeology teacher she is simply the best. This has been my easiest class you won't spend more than an hour and half in this class a week just read one chapter take a 10 question quiz and a fee projects that is it. Hands down best class plus you learn a lot.

She's great!!! You only have test that contain three essay questions and multiple choice as well . Her lectures are interesting she also shows movies and is very intriguing and funny . I would love to take her for another course .

She is incredible! I took her online Intro to Archaeology course, and would gladly take her again. She gives feedback on ALL assignments. She is also very easy to reach through email. There is a chapter test and assignment due every week, if you keep up with the reading it will be easy. Great professor!

Hands down the best professor I have had. I took her for two classes this semester. She is very communicative and gives amazing feedback. Quick grader. Clear criteria. Enjoyable material and projects. This is one professor that really cares about her students and wants them to succeed.

Prof Maack is one of the best teachers I've had! She can be tough on grading, but she'll tell you why you got the grade you did. If there's anything you need to correct or improve on, she'll tell you about it (not in a mean way, but in a "here's what you can do to improve" way). There was a lot of reading, but easy quizzes, & she let us work ahead.

I LOVED everything about the way Professor Maack had this class organized. No midterm or final, only a test & short essay-type project after every chapter, and a paper for the Common Assignment at the end of the semester. She responded to emails very quickly and was always helpful and perfectly clear when necessary.

This is the perfect course in the sense that it is both an easy A & a class you'll actually learn from. Prof. Maack is hilarious & has no patience for nonsense or rude students. Professor Maack is a caring and most considerate professor I have had thus far. I enjoyed her online class and she gives the most easy assignments and does not overload you with work. Every assignment she gives is self explanatory. There is no reason why someone should not get an A or B in this class.

Professor Maack organizes her online classes very well. The class consists of 7 essays based off of the textbook, plus an optional extra credit paper. Her lessons are straight forward and self explanatory. She also provides extra resources to help with the essays, but the textbook is mandatory. She gives opinionated feedback, but is respectful.

Im currently taking her online course and it is fairly simple. She even made changes to the curriculum so the textbook is not necessary due to covid. She expects you to write without the judgment of others due to it being an anthropology course which is understandable. Overall, great professor and an A+ class if you actually read the content.

Professor Maack is the best professor I've ever taken at San Jac. I had a class of 10 for her honors and it was amazing she made learning through COVID so easy and understandable. She was aware of the struggles of her students and the struggle of online learning and made the best of it. She is so amazing and caring take her if you can!!!

Such a great professor! The class is pretty easy, especially because she makes it so interesting! Professor Maack is genuinely very caring, easy going, and very understanding. The material is spaced out well (due date wise) as to not cause too much stress, and you can tell she has a real love for her career, which shows through her teaching! TAKE!

Great Professor, she's very knowledgeable and considerate. She tries to inspire students in the field of archaeology, and her homework is very straightforward, I wish I could of taken her in person class instead of online to ask her more questions about archaeology.

Don't be fooled by the negative comments. This professor truly cares about her students and cares about your opinion; she is one of the few professors you will ever encounter that respects your opinion. Quizzes are online open notes, they are so clear and easy you may not need the notes. She is simply one of the best.

This class was online anytime. The professor gave great feedback on assignments and was always accessible. Doing the assignments matters because there were not as many assignments, and they were worth more, but you had more time to do them. She recommended getting the textbook, but we didn't need it. I would take a class with her again.

Professor Maack is amazing and I recommend her to everyone. She gives great feedback and isn't too hard of a grader. There is not a lot of work, and she gives great power points. All you have to do is watch the short videos she posts and read her power points and you won't fail. You would have to try very hard to fail her class.

She is one of the best professors I have had. Due to the course being only the 1st half of summer, had an easy quiz, essay, and simple discussion board every week with one signature assignment at the end of the course. I believe she does well at her job of teaching as she personalized the lessons into PowerPoints that are easy to understand.

Professor Maack was great; thorough lectures and self-made PowerPoints made this class an easy one. Gave good insights for the lectures and definitions used in the assignments. Grading of assignments was transparent. She made sure you understood the assignments and lectures with feedback. Learned a lot more than just anthropology, but with life.

Professor Mack's class was easy and clearly laid out. Work is based off her PowerPoints and links within them. I was able to complete the work and have plenty of extra time in my week. She makes the material easy to understand and just wants you to write in your own words. If you want easy credit take her!
