Hardest multiple choice tests ever. Talks too much about her own bad relationships.

Hell-hard multiple choice exams, but enjoyable class that passes quickly.

She is so cool! She loves the subject and it shows. They lectures, the text and the project was fun, educational and fun!

Great teacher that's willing to help you at any time. The tests are the only negative thing. They're really tricky (i.e. CJ111 Schreiber-like.) It's the best for doing speeches; she doesn't grade the 1st speech. :)

Very good teacher who actually cares about her students. Very worthwhile class but the tests are hard. If you read the book you will do fine. She gives examply tests questions in class alot

She has difficult tests, but she tells you what is on every one of them. Be prepared to spend time studying. The coolest teacher this year. You will learn a lot, whatever grade you decide to recieve.

My favorite class, I never wanted to miss and I didn't fall asleep. She is very knowledgable and cares about her students. Easy if you study a little.

Pam is awesome. She isn't a lecturer, she's talks to you like a friend. I learned so much, that I continue to put into use today. Tests are hard, but not if you study a good amount. Down-to-earth, fun, educational class.

She's everything you want in a professor: professional, passionate and knowledgable about the subject she teaches and very easy to talk to. Plus, it doesn't hurt that she's cute and has a wicked sense of humor.

Good Instructor, Very through but her tests are the hardest I have taken at SCSU. Study and expect to get a low grade on exams but work hard on the project and you'll make it up that was. She is easy on the eyes as well as smart.

Very fun class...but SUPER HARD test...she gives you a study guide and that is what is on the test. SHe teaches you more about life then i think you could ever get out of any class at SCSU. TAKE Her. I miss class already. This class i looked forward to going to.

It REALLY makes the difference if she likes you. Overall, very fun class and nothing something you will hate going to. She is cute with a great sense of humor. Teaches you a lot of life lessons and book stuff. Would take her again.

Pam seems nice at first but just wait. Make sure if you take her that you dont annoy her because if you do class will be hell. She cant handle any elses opinions. If you are quiet & dont have opinions and want to listen to ranting and raving she is for you.Make sure not to have an opinion!OR ELSE!!

Only 2 speeches, however, she grades the second v. hard for having just 1 "practice" speech. Tests are difficult but you get a handy studyguide. She is VERY interesting, has many good life lessons to teach, and is a master at her craft (communications). A very enjoyable class!

Best class I ever took on SCSU's campus. She is so much fun, just like a student with the rest in the class. Speeches are easy, and if you read the chapters and then do note cards youre going to do awesome. I read and di note cards from her study guides and did great in the class. She's great.

She was one of the most intriguing people I have ever met, so well spoken, smart, and really wants her students to understand the material. She is not there for the paycheck people! She is there for the ART that is teaching. I would highly recommend her to anyone! Test are difficult and you have to study alot and keep up with the readings but all in all she is fantastic.

I dislike communitcation classes, but she makes it so much fun! I even have this class for 3 hours, but it feels like one hour, b/c she makes it interesting. Shes just like the rest of the students! Take this class with her!!!

Pam is amazing! I talk all the time in her class and question her ideas and we have great conversations because of it. She is passionate about the subject and just wants to teach everyone valuable lessons. She helps with the test and gives study guides for 3 tests, and then there's a group project. That's it all semester! She's the best prof ever!!

It was a good class and she's a quality professor but your not getting an A. Too hard for a 100 level class. You'll learn a lot but I doubt more than 2 people in my class got an A. Don't take this proff if your looking for an easy A!

No homework....2 speeches (1 Pass/Fail...1 graded) both are EASY! Tests are super hard! I studied A LOT but didn't do well on any of the tests. Oh well...if you want an easy A don't take Seklin...but if you want to learn something and have fun while learning TAKE HER!

Funny that she spent so many years in school to learn about relationships and she's not married. It seems that if one were that interested in relationships, they'd search one out...or break it down so much that a relationship never could/would ever work...Fair grader, good discussion facilitator, willing to work with students who wanna try.

Absolutely loved this class! It was extremely interesting and learned a lot from it. Tests are challenging and require good studying. If you have the opportunity to take this class, take it with her. Loves to teach about life in general. Discussion is really interesting. Learned a lot!

Pam (or so she likes to be called) is really easy going and a laid back gal that knows what she's talking about. I would recommend her but I must say she is a little intiminating...

This is an awesome class. Pam just got a new text for this class, and it's a little cheap book. Its also an easy read, not like a regular text book. Pam is a fun teacher, who really makes getting up in the morning worth it. You really learn a lot, and you can tell she really has a passion for her job. She's also really outgoing and funny!!!!

Pam is very talented. Her passion for teaching shines through into her classes. I will never forget some of the concepts she has taught us about relationships in and out of the family. I haven't tackled the final paper yet, which is 10-15 pages but so far the class is somewhat easy and extremely beneficial. Take this class with her!

I would have to say she is nice but you mainly focus on your TA. they are vey nice too. Online quizzez are fine but they tkae fover to get 90%. you have to if you want a good grade. Only One speech.

This class was one of the best that I have taken...Pam is an inspiring teacher, and the stories that she tells to help relate or understands concepts are very interesting. The things that I have learned in this class, I will take with me. Great teacher! First class to actually be sad to be done with.

Awesome prof and awesome class. I learned more from her than all of my other SCSU classes combined so far. Be prepared to study though, and to really think for a change.

I am rating Secklin's Dark Side class which is becoming famous on this campus. It closes right away but if you can get in you will learn more about relationships than you ever thought was possible. This class is intense and she is teaching it next spring. You won't forget it or her view on life and people.

Best professor I have had in my college years! I learned so much from Pam. She has passion like no prof i've had before and was actually my inspiration in being a Comm Studies major. Definitely take her class if you get a chance.

This class and professor the highlight of my college career so far and I hope to take her again for what ever else she teaches next. Me and my roommates talk about this class constantly. Finally something we can all use.

Her exams are tough. Go in to talk to her about your first exam before you take your second, and ask her any questions you have during the exams; it's EXTREMELY helpful. This is a great class. It's had more of an impact on my life than any other class I've taken. Pam is awesome.

No matter what your grade ends up to be if you come out of a class with Pam you feel like your lucky you met her and how much she taught you starts to sink in after class ends. I miss the class and her already. Take her for whatever you can fit in your schedule.

As I look back on my time at College I can see that this was the most important teacher and class that I ever took. Pam is enthusiastic about student learning and stimulates people to find out more about their relationships. That helped me me a lot. She is very accessible and loves to talk to students in helpful ways. She is just great.

She pulled me out of a depression over a bad breakup. Really should be a therapist, but a phenomenal teacher no doubt. Expects a lot but more than fair, treats you like you actually matter to her, will taker her again if i can.

This class was wonderful. Not what I expected and it really opened me up to the entire world of communication. Thanks Pam for being such a great instructor. Although expectations were very high on Pam's part...she gave us all the tools we needed to succeed.

This professor is by far the best I've had at SCSU! Take if you ever have the option! 3 exams, 1 group project, NO final! Really concerned about helping students succeed! And I'm horrible at taking tests and got B's on her's, so not all that difficult...honestly had some pretty useful material to teach and was enjoyable to learn the material :-)

Pam is really concerned with helping students succeed! She accommodates ALL students and their learning styles. Tests are easy...just study the material...she gives you very helpful pointers as well on test taking strategies! Great professor! Group project is a hassle, but it's easy. No final exam! Very entertaining and taught useful information!

Didn't expect life changing experience and discussions but thats what happened and in a summer class too. Best class and professor ever, will never forget either one. Take her and you will see what I mean.

Secklin is awesome! She is always available to help, she is not a slacker teacher by any means, but she is very fair and truly wants students to succeed in her class. I enjoyed going to class everyday because she led great discussions and gave great examples.

Teacher is amusing and cares about her students. Is open to disputing syllabi in beginning of course. Exams require studying and reading the text is highly encouraged. Certain requirements check to see whether you read or not. A very good experience overall.

Pam is a very clear professor who really cares about her students and pushes them to succeed. Her exams are challenging, but as long as you pay attention in class and study you will do fine. She is really excited about class everyday and has very interesting discussions that keep class interesting. Overall one of the best professors I have had!

Secklin is a unique and energetic professor. I enjoyed the subject of her class and the text book is entertaining. She has a good sense of humor and a great, great connection with college students. She is very credible, and get to know her individually, she likes it if you meet in her office! Study hard for exams, they're hard.

As she's stated, her tests are tough but fair. So study hard. That said, she has a great rapport with her students, encourages honest dialogue, explains the course material plainly enough that everyone should understand, and seems very intuitive to individuals' needs. Recommended.

The only C I received in college was in Pam's class, and that same class is the reason I chose to be a communication major. Pam makes learning interactive and interesting. Tests are multiple choice but extremely tricky. I would request Pam to any student though.

Awesome teacher. Tests are rough - study well in advance, because she does challenge you. If you have a question, ASK. She is more than willing to answer and help you understand. She is pretty funny, and extremely honest. Very trustworthy and personable.

Before taking this class I was dreading having to take a communications class. Pam made all of the topics extremely interesting and easy to understand. Easily one of the best professors I have ever had.

Pam was by far my favorite professor. She really cares about her job, the subject, and the students. Her class isn't the easiest, but she gives you a study guide, so use it! She always made class interesting, and I didn't go a single class without laughing one or twice. If you need help, ask, she is beyond willing to do what she can.

Man oh man was her class a struggle but she helped me through it. Tests are tough and studying is a must but I learned so much. She has so much to share and makes the class seem very personal. Can come off as a hard ass at first but she is so freaking awesome. I will definitely miss her and this class.

This class made me work for my grade. Don't expect to fly through the semester without doing anything. Even with having to work pretty hard, this class taught me more than most of the classes I've taken insofar in college. She cares about her students and wants them to do well. She is very willing to help students. She grades hard, but is fair.

Dr. Secklin is the hardest professor I had so far. She is a really nice person and her lectures are fun. She even has some fun activities to do, but her exams are so god damn hard! She won't curve at all so study hard to pass her exams or DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!

Her first exam hits you like a brick wall, after that though, the class gets very easy. You need the textbook.

She has her good days when she's an awesome prof, and her bad days when she will bite your head off. Her tests are hard and you will fail the first one (I think it's made that way), but she is super fair. Her sense of ethics is amazing and won't try to hide or trick you. Plus two speeches, one pass/fail the other is graded.

the gateway class seems pointless but this professor made it worth our time by helping us with our career and resumes so if u have to take it at least find her. Plus she is quick and funny and made the early morning time worth it!!

This was an odd class, because it was kind of pointless. However she managed to make it useful for us with things like resume feedback. There is a lot of class discussion, a few assignments all of which are easy and quick.

Prof Secklin loves her job and cares for her students. Even though some of the course was hard and deep, I loved her sense of humor and her care for the students to succeed. She was there for us no matter what but slackers beware. If you ain't here to learn then take another course.

THIS IS NOT AN EASY A. You have to fully participate in class and actively read the text to pass. Class average was a B-. Group project is stressful because she is a tougher grader on that than the exams and wants a detailed outline with it. Overall, it's a gem of a class if you're passionate about CMST because she is a one-of-a-kind teacher

Amazing response rate when we had questions about anything. When students had problems she was right there with a answers and even gave a huge bonus quiz to help everyones grades get better when we flunked a quizzes. I dont like online classes but she made this one pretty dope and above everything she was the most fair professor ever

Well had to work my %%% off for the B but its fine cuz i learned more about myself then in any other class here so far. She can talk with us about anything including depression and suicide and sex and cuz that we went beyond the textbook for class which was okay as books go. Recommend if you have time to study but not if you don't

Pam was great. She always conducted insightful conversations in class. She always taught the lessons very well and always hit all of the topics on study guides. She can be a tough grader but if you participate in conversations and keep up with the reading you should get a solid grade.

Loved this professor! Messaged her with questions I had and she helped to the best of her knowledge. The quizzes were pretty hard though. Averaged a C on my quizzes, but got an A on my outline and speech. Your grade is based off of 4 quizzes 20 points each with a bonus quiz at end, 10% outline, and 10% speech.

Great class for online format! Lots to watch and do and if you add to the discussions it helps your grade. Pretty fair but a lot of reading before the exams. I worked for my A grade but didn't hate it. Professor emails you back right away and explains everything.

Professor helped something in my personal life and made me feel like I mattered. That's not what I am used to. If any one rates this professor bad, they are to selfish to see the hard work behind the scenes like entire email conversations I really appreciated it.

Secklin is the most caring, funny & kind hearted professors I have ever had. Rather than having class inside where we would all have to wear masks, Pam held class outdoor along the river where we could be socially distanced and see each other's faces. Pam created a safe place and brought students together. Reading the textbook is necessary to pass!

Cool teacher. This is basically a discussion class on relationship, mostly sex. Really understands students. Reaches out so people can get the best grades, really cares. Funny. Graded on 4 tests, a group project, participation, and attendance. Participation comes from talking in class or discussion on Ted Talks she posts. Doesnt grade until end.

Pretty good intro class there are so many choices. Extra credit and zoom office hours. I don't know why anyone like who gets a A - would have a problem,. When I asked for help got it same day. The tests are tricky but Open deadlines to which was great for my schedule .

Great crash course to start my college career!

Professor Secklin and Intro to Communication 192 class are fantastic! The quizzes are very in-depth and challenging if you do not thoroughly read through the book and take notes. I have learned a lot from this class about the art of communication, test-taking, class etiquette, and learning habits.

The class consists of reading the textbook, taking quizzes, and optional discussion posts. Quizzes were fairly difficult so make sure to understand terminology. Extra credit speech at the end of the class.

Super easy online class to follow with open due dates. The workload wasn't overwhelming.

I would recommend this professor to anyone! The syllabus is well written on what needs to be done by the end of the semester, and offers extra credit if you need it. The readings are interesting and it is important to engage in the discussion questions. I have emailed professor Secklin a few times, and always got a response within a day or so.
