I hate chemistry but she made me do well
A very helpful teacher. Great at giving lectures. Fair tests.
She helped me do well in chem....thank god
Very nice person.

Very good proff. Doesn't joke much, but when she does, she is good at it.
A very unclear yet repetitive lecturer. Class is very boring and quite useless.

Quite Useless Classes. Slept through all lecures.
Very very friendly, helpful, frustratingly repetitious (great if you need that).
Repetitious, but at least it forces us to comprehend.
That's what you need to know for the exam, but here's what's really going on.
study her notes and you will get an A+...trust me
half the lecture she will teach stuff, the other half she repeats what she just said...over and over and over and over. and over.
Very passionate about her lectures. Often makes little mistakes, it is usually quite humourous when she discovers them.
GREAT! very clear.
easiest prof. trust me if u see her teaching take it. She repeats her stuff alot which helps u remember it. easy marker. dont buy the text book study everything from her notes
her class is such a joke! she repeats herself like 40000 times and talks down to everyone as though theyre retards.
Awesome Prof. She is right up there with Sam Dube. Good notes, good lectures. Just watch out for labs/lab test, tend to be a pain.
Awesome prof, so easy to understand, she makes it fun. Almost as good as dube.

Great Proff, so helpful and easy to understand
Pam is an awesome Prof! Very clear, and makes understanding her lectures a breeze, particularly this class, I never thought science could make sense to me but it does! She uses clear examples to show her point. She gets an A+ in my books.
AWESOME!
She is the greatest prof I have ever had in the two years I have been at Carleton
Her lectures are done way too fast and she isn't thorough enough. But she is an easy marker.
Great teacher!
Liked her a lot, but felt like I got bladed on the christmas exam. Hot in a geek-girl kind of way.
She's a great educator. So patient and thorough. If you don't get a decent mark it's sure not her fault.
What a joke... you don't even need a textbook to get an A+ in this class, she tells you what she's going to ask on exams.
Wolff's passion for the material she teaches is manifested in her helpful attitude and enthusiastic, clear teaching style.
Good prof, knows her material. Always willing to help and answer questions. Fair exams, questions right from course material.
Very maternal and hand-holding. Like that high-school teacher that really wanted you to pass but wanted you to do it on your own. Takes snide but funny potshots at engineers and physicists: bad news for any Eng. Phys majors out there! An excellent first-year prof.
I second the person who said 'If you don't get a good mark, it's not her fault'. Go to class, do the pratice questions, and you SHOULD be able to get an A. Exams are almost identical to sample questions.
Great Prof!
I think she absorbed to much mercury in her earlier days....It's nice to be in her class becuase it's like watching a puppet teach you chemistry. She sounds like a puppet.
Very disorganized. Always seems rather confused with herself. I find the classes mudane!
ROCKS THE HOUSE!!!
Amazing prof! Very helpful and understanding. She designed the class for the students to succeed. If you fail, or do bad, it's no one's fault but your own.
She's a good Teacher, but... she Repeats herself SO MUCH, drive me insane, Luckily the material is so easy I can leave basically whenever i want. No textbook needed. No reason why you can't get an A.
she is very enthusiastic
She wants you to do well and will go to all lengths to get you there. DOn't buy the text book its a waste of funds.
More my fault than hers, but I didn't grasp much taught in class.
DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. If you have taken any highschool physics and chem it will be a breeze, so easy that you can get thrown off. but beware about the enviro aspect, she can be kind of picky when grading assignments, a 10/10 can be hard. She wants students to do well and does a tutorial which is helpful, but sometimes it can be painfully slow...
best prof ever! so informative and made the contents very understandable. her lectures alone were enough to give me good grades. very fair w/ gradings, funny at times :)
If you go to every class and do nothing else all year, you should get at least an A-. Nuff said.
She promised at the start of the year that there would b no curveballs or questions you would need to answer part a correctly in order to solve part b.But virtually all questions were curveballs and some of them required you solve part a to do b.I dont like not being able to trust my proffesor.Always available for office hours and class av was high
So, Pam, knowledgeable she may be, really wants you to succeed. However, I found that in such an intro class, there was just too much material to be covered and towards the end you really NEED to go. I didn't particularly like her teaching style. I found she talked down to us a lot. But she's used to 17yr olds. Don`t take the class as an elective.

Pam is amazing! If you don't do well, then either it's your fault for not showing up, or chemistry is NOT for you! The only time I didn't like her was when I came out of the final exam. The final was about 400x harder than any of the other midterms. I had an A going into it and ended up with a B+ final grade. Ouch! She is amazing though.
Such a great teacher! She explains things very well so that non-sciencey students like me understand perfectly. The lessons are well structured. She is always there to help, and we didn't need a textbook for this class. ISCI 2000 with her was great, and we reviewed a lot of science/math I had forgotten from highschool. <3 this class & her.
Batty and incapable of staying on topic. Says so many unrelated things, wasting time so that we didn't get to cover organic chemistry, which is important for next year. Hard to understand expectations, because she says so many unrelated things. Enjoys ugly purple sweaters... a lot....
I love her! She's hilarious, always answers questions super easy midterms and exams. Wish I could have her every year. Gives a lot of resources and makes amazing notes.... on blackboard.
Pretty good professor, tells students exactly what she is expecting. Not many students show up to this class as it seems like a reiteration of grade 12 chemistry, but there are a few twists that she teaches that are important for the exams/midterms. She explains science concepts well, better than many other profs/teachers
Loved her! Great for students who have not taken chem before or in a long time. Little rushed at end of course to cover stuff but very fair and really cares about her students. Would high recommend!
She is an excellent instructor, everything she teaches is clear as day and she is very thorough in everything she teaches. Also no textbook just notes that she posts as well as practice questions.
Amazing teacher, really knows her stuff. really enjoyed her class!!! take her if you can, she's the best. really approachable and knowledgeable and funny.
Pam is the BEST, she is such a good educator. While you're in the class, it's so easy it feels like you're not even learning but when the tests come around you'll see that she's actually taught you everything you need to know quite painlessly. She doesn't teach anything useless, she just does what is necessary in a very straightforward manner
She talks slowly and teaches as if you've never learned chemistry before which is good because some of us haven't taken chemistry in a long time or had a hard time with it. She's great I'm learning much better with her and she's very helpful
she is a really nice lady and helps a lot but she talks as if youre retarded. she likes to tell you things you wont ever need to know like random numbers etc. and you could learn about the same topic for a week straight. but overall shes a good prof
Nice Woman, you can tell for sure she knows what she's teaching and is very enthusiastic about what she teaches, However she is horribly unorganized, fails to responds to emails promptly and tends to take rather long to grade things. The only thing I found stressful was the fact that the term paper had no outline. Other than that, course was fine
This is just about the easiest class I've ever taken. If you want an easy credit and don't care about learning then take her class. If, however, you actually want your money's worth of knowledge and/or plan on taking upper year chemistry, then this class is practically useless. She covered less than half the material that Burk did in CHEM1001.
LOVE this prof. She is super helpful and she actually will put a lot of time aside to help. Also, you don't feel stupid asking her stupid questions! And easy course too.
I LOVED PAM! I did not need to continue in upper year chemistry, so I took her Chem courses my whole first year. Shes incredible. Gives you SO many practice problems and exam outlines. If you do them, you will ace the course. I finished first semester with an A+ and second with an A! Easy prof, easy exams, wonderful, funny lady!
The class is very easy but I did not like Pam as a professor. She does make it easy to learn but she spent so time on one topic and would always ramble on and on that I lost interest easily. I found her very annoying. I hated going to class and because of this failed the second half.
My only complaint with Pam is she is so slow with the Material. However she runs prelabs and is always willing to go the extra mile to help.
Best PROF ever, Pam is the boss in chemistry, funny, clear, knows a lot about chemistry and nice class overall. Exams are extremely easy but you gotta keep pace with what she teaches for the exams including the final she posts previous years versions and her exam appear in the same style but different figures and atoms and all that.
she's very helpful and sweet. she makes you love chemistry
The course material was fairly simple and so were the labs. However despite doing very well on the labs I found the final exam impossible! It was much harder than expected and I was not at all prepared
Pam is one of my favourite first year profs. She simplifies complex concepts effectively, and is crystal clear on what's expected of us in the course, labs and tests. Cheerful and enthusiastic, it was a comfortable learning environment and definitely a prof I would recommend.
Slow teacher. Most material already covered in highschool. Very clear speaker. Somehow tiring class. Doesn't get a whole lot of help from the half asleep class.
As a teacher, she's in the ballpark between "okay" and "solid." She covers the material (perhaps better than average), but fails to offer any engaging insight. This is evidenced by the percentage of sleeping students in a given Wolff lecture. As a person, she is certainly nice at heart, but she's just got this attitude that doesn't jibe with me.
One of the best instructors ever, covers all material needed for midterms and finals, all you need is to study practice questions and assignments to get an easy A. I wish I could take another class with her.
Pros: Mock midterm 1. Weekly assignments. Reasonable. Textbook still in wrapping. Cons: The most boring class I have every experienced. Went to all of the classes but was so boring. Near the end of the term you really struggle to go to class. T.A's mark extremely poorly. Make sure to check everything that gets marks.
Pam is great. She gives lecture slides before class and makes notes on them during the lecture so there's no need for taking notes. The class is mostly a review of high school chemistry, and Pam makes it very clear and takes time going over stuff. Test questions all come from lecture examples and assignments, no textbook needed.
Here is my situation, went back to school after almost 17 years of getting my high school, I've always HATED math, chemistry and calculations. (ADHD), I freaked out at the start, however, Ms. Wolff is a really GREAT instructor and explains everything in a very simple and clear way. Just watch lectures online so you can reward and pause when needed.

Seems like a good prof, but she spends way too much time trying to elaborate on what she's talking about, and her lectures become extremely boring and difficult to pay attention to. Fair grader, will make the time to listen to your questions. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK IN THIS COURSE.I didn't open the textbook once throughout the entire course.
Professor Pam is very enjoyable to listen to, and is extremely clear and concise in his explanations.
pros : her color coding for notes makes a BIG difference , easy to follow ,welcomes all kinds of question and she posts all notes and practice solutions on Culearn . cons : UNFAIR GRADER , she invents reasons to subtract marks from you even for most little detail . she hates Giving partial marks and loves giving zero on questions.
She is a million times better than Bob... if I had known she was teaching the class in the summer, I would have waited to take CHEM with her. If like me you couldn't stand Bob and he taught you nothing, just wait and take the class with her. Save yourself some suffering. She explains everything perfectly.
Pam knows her material, however cannot teach this material to students. Her marking schemes for midterms are very unfair as she takes off a lot of marks for errors worth only a few marks. Lectures drag on endlessly and she goes off on tangents that sap your energy. This course should have been a repeat of grade 12 but I'm even more confused now.
Personally think she's great. Have had three courses with her and got 2A's and a B. She gets personal if you take your course as serious as she takes her work. The notes are very important to go over and the practice tests she posts.
Her marking scheme is terrible. You lose most of the marks in a question for a small error. Terribly boring class, terrible notes, and has an annoying monotonous voice that makes u wanna smack her.
Excellent prof. Makes tests and exam really easy, and goes way out of her way to explain concepts, which can make the class extremely boring as she drones on endlessly explaining every nook and cranny of a concept. Annoying at times, but if you need the help she is most certainly there.
Amazing prof. Helps if you're ask anything that's related to the subject.
Loved her teaching method. Print her slides and add the notes to them during lecture. Her evaluations come exactly from her notes, assignments, and practice problems. Review the notes and do the problems after every lecture and you are guaranteed an A. Labs require good preparation! Be ware of the lab final, easy but time is a factor!
Very annoying
The assignments, midterms, and final exam question were all taken almost straight from the slide. She really works hard to make it easy for the students. You don't even have to really pay attention in class, as long as you do the assignments and understand them, you are golden for the midterms and exam.
Great Teacher, if you can get by her boring classes. I would suggest to go to the classes as she shows you the way she wants the questions done and if you follow her procedure you will do well. Do the assignments and practice problems as the are the same questions from her midterms and final. Her marking schemes suck. The labs take a long time
She is a nice prof. If you study properly and attend all lectures, you will be good. However she is a very tough grader and will take out many marks for small errors. But I think this is because of the nature of the subject. Textbook was not required. Take the VOD option if possible. The course will feel much easier and less boring.
Amazing prof and really cares about the students. The course material is not hard, but it is easy to lose marks on midterms and exams for little mistakes, so pay attention to every little detail of every problem! Labs are easy and if you spend the time on them, you will do well. Go to her office hours, she is very good at explaining things.
Very fair marker and funny in class. She explains everything you need to know, always very precise when she explains something, and gives lots of practice questions which are helpful for the exam. DO NOT get the textbook for CHEM 1101
Pam stands out as one of the best professors I've had in engineering so far. I have not seen this level of dedication in a teacher since high school. Her assignments were great practice for the exams, her marking scheme was fair, and she had a very friendly disposition. All around wholesome experience being in her class.
Excellent professor. She cares about you and the material even though the lectures are quite dry, it is an easy course to pass if you show up and pay attention. Easy grader.
Pam is awesome and pam is great. I love pam
The course is easy and pamela wolffs lectures are informative but dry. The only thing I didn't like is her marking scheme, instead of marking by giving marks for what you did right, she takes marks off for mistakes. Things that seem insignificant can make you get a 0 on the question even if it is mostly correct. Always do the mock exams.
Easy course, good prof, but a hard marker. She explains things well and her questions are easy, but if you don't do the questions the way she wants, you will lose a lot of marks. Always do the mock exams, and make sure your answers are the same as hers. Her mock exams are very similar to the midterms and the final exam.
Easy course and she is great. Do all the practice questions and exams and it will be an easy class. Her marking is tough. Labs are also tedious and require effort.
She is a good professor, however, for those of you who just don't get chemistry in high school, her class is definitely challenging. Be careful with the procedures and marking schemes in the lab! Some TA is just tuff at grading.
Pam is an amazing prof! Very reasonable chem knowledge expectations for Ontario high school graduates. Adapts course material to better suit engineering & explains in easy-to-understand way; Never rushes! Gives marks for process and clarifies what mistakes would cost you; midterms are similar to practice problems, notes and sample midterm.
She assigned a huge amount of work that was not worth all that much compared to tests and NEVER HANDED ANYTHING BACK. Everything was submitted virtually and she provided me a grade for 1/6 assignments. I emailed her about this and got no response. Obviously I had no idea how I was doing in this class. Her lectures were really boring also.
Great Prof. posts all the slides which cover all of what's on the exam. Also posts sample midterms and finals which are exact copies from the real exam.
Great professor. Please dont waste your money on the textbook. She posts everything online including lectures and some video lectures. Watch all the video lectures as they help a lot in understanding the concepts. To do well, I highly encourage you to do everything the exact way she is doing it as she is a tough marker, but the course is easy.
She is a funny and engaging lecturer who cares about her students, and is very passionate about what she teaches. She always posts example midterms and finals, so you know exactly what to expect. Given the circumstances for the Winter 2020 term, she was also very compassionate with flexible grading schemes. Overall, Prof. Wolff was the best!
Great prof! Her lectures are easy to follow and she explains everything clearly. Definitely recommend!
She is good at explaining concepts and does well to prepare you for tests and quizzes, however the amount of useless and unnecessary work she gives you with very tight deadlines just makes her good points irrelevant. Also, a very questionable marker as well so be ready to lose marks when you aren't supposed to.
One of the worst profs I've ever taken. She posted 75+ tasks (quizzes, cumulative quizzes, assignments, midterm& labs) in that course itself with tight deadlines that you cannot focus on other courses at all. Obv she didn't care plus, we're in the 2nd week of the next semester and we still didn't get our marks back & didn't even bother to email us.
She's very clear on what she expects from you as a student.
Without a doubt the most clear cut prof i've had. Has the cleanest CUlearn page that is so easy to follow and keep up with. Also, her lectures are slow and descriptive. Went from hating chem in high school and nearly failing to it being my favourite course in university and that is entirely credited to her. Amazing.
A very nice professor, and is fairly organized with her CuLearn page and all the assessments. I don't know if it due to the course or the professor, but there were a lot of assessments. So many quizzes and test and assignments. A very heavy workload class, and was a strain on my time and schedule opposed to my other courses.
Very nice Professor. Always responded quickly and explained the material really well. Gives alot of assignments and quizes but drops lowest 6 from both, so makes you work and really grasp the material. Makes it really clear what we need for a good grade on assignments by giving us comprehensive practice problems.
Pam is a very nice prof with great lectures. Dont even bother buying the textbook, her notes are good enough to study from. Easy tests and exam. However she gives a lot of assignments with tight deadlines so its important to stay on top of that. Dont wait for the last minute to do labs either. Its an easy class if you put in the work
Lots of assignments and quizzes makes each individual assignment worth very little. This means if you make a few mistakes on a few tests, it won't mean much but it's lots of work. Lots of pre-recorded videos too.
Cared a lot about her students and explained things well. Course had a lot of asynchronous quizzes and test, but the were all very short.
Pam is a fantastic prof. She cares about her students and will listen to the classes feedback. She gives a lot of assignments, but drops some or provides extensions if you speak up. Her office hours are fantastic but everything is so thorough in lectures that you probably won't need them. 2x speed on the lectures is your friend if you're online.
the prof is actually really good but doe to the numbers of material, this course is actually really hard, she handle this course really well, without her, i think this course would be so much harder, the lectures are excellent but the the assignment and quiz will never be extended to a other day, due to the amount of work you have to do next.
Pam is an amazing Prof. She really cares for her student's learning. Her teaching style and course structure are really well done. Lecture videos every week and small assignments plus quizzes every week. This really re-enforces the learning of the material. Very nice and Caring prof. Highly recommend taking her if you can.
Probably the best professor I've seen so far, the lectures are very easy to understand and helpful. There's quite a few assignments and quizzes but they're not bad at all. All in all just a great prof, which actually made me enjoy Chemistry for the first time in my life.
Pam is a wonderful human being and was very accommodating. She is fair and equitable and also very caring. She does assign a lot of work, which was my issue with the course, but if you do all the little assignments and quizzes and the practice problems she provides, you can pass with flying colours. Just make sure you check sig figs!
This course is a review of grade 12 chem but most importantly there's no organic chem! The professor is really good at what she does, but be prepared for lots of assignments and quizzes that are honestly easy if you do the practice questions assigned. No need to purchase a book since the practice questions that she gives are more than enough.
Pam Wolff knows her stuff but some of her videos are very long. There are lots of weekly assessments to do, but each are fairly short. All of the work adds up though, so make sure you leave enough time to do all of it. A lot of her lecture videos could definitely be shorter, but she makes it really easy to remember and understand.
This course was so much easier than any high school chemistry course just because of Prof Wolff. She teaches a lot of material but in a way that it is very clear and easy to figure out.
She will load you up with courses but if you dont understand you will most propbably fail, attend all lectures and understand and then u will be on top oif ur game
Phenomenal Prof. The course load was very heavy but she was aware of that and taught it well. Very considerate and approachable. Emails were replied to quickly and she was open to answering questions. Assignments were not hard but there were multiple assignments each week.
Absolute gem of a prof. She can be tough, but genuinely cares so much about the students. She teaches the material in a very clear way, and provides very good lecture notes and lecture recordings if needed. 10/10
Her lectures are very good, super easy to understand the content. It is assignment and quiz heavy but the assignments are basically free marks and so are the quizzes if you understand the material. Several opportunities for extra credit. The practice midterms and final she provided were very similar to the actual midterms and finals. Great prof!
Tests were easy if you studied, and even though they are short (take 10 or so minutes each) the assignments and quizzes were hell because there were so many of them.
For someone who isn't a fan of chem, I can say that Pam made the subject much more enjoyable than it is.
she cancelled the class 10 minutes before it started
I took her with the course of 1101 last year and this would be the easiest courses in the first year engineering. If you did a little bit practices outside the lecture time and pay attention to class, you will be likely to get the higher grade.
Pam is a really good teacher, she helps keep the class engaging but there is a LOT of assignments and quizzes handed out and typically you have to check for yourself if they're there. Pam is not a nice marker for the most part. She will give a 0 if the answer isn't 100% correct without error, there are practically no part marks.
Great prof! Super organized. Posts tons of practice problems and old midterms and exams for you to study on. Lectures are recorded if you miss a class. Uses crowd mark for grading which is super helpful. Even got to see the exact marking for our exams. Quiz and assignments 4 each topic but helpful 4 practice. Labs can be annoying but not too bad.
Pam gives great lectures that cover the content and include several detailed examples. Additionally, her tests are exactly what you expect them to be with almost no surprises.
Professor Wolff is an amazing lecturer who never fails to entertain and keeps her lectures engaging. As someone who does not particularly enjoy chemistry, she made the class very manageable. Beware of the many weekly quizzes and tests, as it is very easy to fall behind on those. Her midterms and final were also very fair, with no surprises.
certified yap prof
Professor Pam has helped me create new connections regarding chemistry to my field and how we use chemistry in our daily lives. Only thing I regret from this course is not becoming a chemical engineer.
Escape for your life
I think pam is a really good prof and you would definitely do great if you put in work-she greatly believes in fairness too.
Pam is a fantastic lecturer who makes chemistry engaging. Lots of quizzes and assignments, but the practice exams are spot-on. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for quick concept reviews.
She is an ACTUAL chemistry professor and not an engineering professor teaching chem. She knows very well what she is talking about and makes it easy to pass this class with a high grade. Very easy A+ for first year eng
Better then Mr Hasheminasab
If you have the chance to take a lecture with Pam, do it. 10/10. Lectures are comprehensive, there is an assignment and quiz for every lecture but they're easy. She can yap a bit but its really not bad. Overall great prof, somehow made chemistry interesting and easy.
Pam Wolff is the greatest first year professor i've ever had. Simply the goat, everything discussed in class was on the midterms/finals and she went indepth on examples. She also only went over the theory that is necessary for Engineers. Great prof, thank you Pam
...................................................
Great Prof, assigns lots of homeworks, quizzes, and practice questions keeping you up to date with the course, great prof if you like to skip (but her lectures are still very useful).
lowkey hard exams but decent overall
Goated prof. Lectures are good, but aren't mandatory. She posts lots of review material, like lecture recordings, slides, and practice exams. She assigns lots of homework, which is fine, just make sure to stay on top of it.
W prof, cares a lot about students and genuinely makes an effort.
decent overall
Great lectures that are entertaining, engaging, and useful. Everything posted online with lots of graded and optional practice problems / quizzes. Midterm and exam were fair and very similar to practice tests she posts. Amazing professor that really cares about students and helping them succeed!
Midterms and final exams are exactly like the previous years they barely change every year. Skipped all lectures
LOVEDDD her. Genuinely a free A+ as long as you keep up everything because it is very content heavy and you get quizzes and assignments non stop once the course picks up. Exams were all easy and fair and she definitely prepares you well with the quizzes and assignments. Highly recommend :))
Funny prof, course material is unexpectedly easier than grade 12 chem which was nice and there are many example and practice midterms and finals online which make studying good. She also has zoom meetings for each lecture so you can join if you are sick etc and has effective and posted notes from in class.
