excellent teacher. my favorite and i wish all others were more like her
Excellent teacher. Very healpful and extremely nice. She acts like a mother and teaches the same way.
Great teacher, lets you use notes on tests, final exam is optional. Highly recommended!! I am going to take her for stats part two also.
Very hard teacher constantly makes you do homework for a grade and has many quizes on top of the tests. You can use your notes but there is no reason to because the tests are extremly hard!!
Very good professor. She is willing to help you with anything as long as you ask her. She lets you bring 1 piece of paper with both sides filled with whatever you want to use as a cheat sheet for her tests. I would definitely recommend her for mgmt 212.
Very nice teacher, there is a lot of work to this class, homework every night, but if you do all the homework the tests are easy, plus you can use a cheat sheet, and if you do well, skip the final.
Very nice teacher. Very helpful. Almost all homework due. One full cheat sheet for all exams. If you do the work you will do very well.
Definently one of the BEST professors I have ever had in college, period. Make SURE you take her for stats if you ever get the chance.

Wow, what can i say, Burch takes her job seriously, she wants to make you learn and she does so well. She teaches a hard subject and makes it very clear and "on the level" us kids can understand. You must take good notes, and need the text(for homework). She gives homework every time which is the downside. But take her b/c i hear everyoneelse sucks
If you want to learn take her but, if you are not willing to work hard to earn your grade take someone else. She is a great teacher! Tests are really hard. You will have a lot of homework and yes it is graded. If you take her for mgmt 302 get ready for a ride.
Nothing bad to say about her. She is an awesome teacher. The test are a little difficult but you get a cheat sheet. I have never once studied and got a B in the class. She is the best teacher to take for this class. The other guy wrote the book & I hear is hard as crap. You will definately learn something from her and she knows everyones name.
Best math teacher I've ever had. She's good at explaining the material. Tests are hard. The cheat sheet is great but couldn't help me enough. She gives alot of homework, which is actually a good thing. Make sure you start out strong and keep up with it. If you let yourself slip once you fall behind and have a hard time pulling up the grade.
Expects you to work hard.. allows a cheat cheet for tests
Great Professor, but lots of graded HW. Class notes are clear, but boring. Get cheat sheet for exams, and final is optional. Good pick for a hard class.
I took her for 301 and expected the same thing for 302, and I was for the most part correct. Her 302 class is a little harder, but that doesn't mean it's hard to get a B in it. She does focus more on interpreting information on the quiz and test questions than she did in 302, which is a little annoying. Still, she is the best prof. for stats!
Great professor that will walk you through, step by step, how to do all of the problems. You will turn in 20 homework assignments, take 7 quizzes, and 3 tests. You can drop 2 HWs and 1 quiz grade. The final is optional. HW is weighted 10%, quizzes 15%, and tests 25% each.
Pros: Very Organized, You will leave the class knowing what you have to do for homework, Get to use a cheat sheet on all tests. Cons: You have for the most part every class and the hw will take from 1hr - 2hrs to complete, if you do bad on all your quizzes, but do fairly well (A/B/Cs) on everything else you will get a C in the class. Overall, k
Good at teaching material. Fair teacher as far grades go. Keep up with the work and stay persistent though. Put time into this class. Assigns lots of hw and tests resemble hw and class notes.
Mrs. Burch ROCKS!!!! There are tons of quizzes and homework that is graded but it is a necessary evil to get a good grade.
a lot of homework but overall a great teacher
The subject is hard but she makes it easy on both levels (301&302) Go to CLASS! She writes notes and they answer every question on quiz and tests
She is hard but the homework she gives makes it easy. You get a one page cheat sheet and you can use both sides, plus you can type it. I just typed up all my notes and made it really small. I got high C's on all my test but still passed with a B because I did all my homeworks and fairly well on quizes. Great professor, taking her nxt semester!
TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!
She is GREAT. Material is impossibly hard, but she helps you get through it. Lots of homework but helps your grade and keeps you coming because if you skip you get left behind. She is a great teacher and will do anything to help you.
I have to say she is the best math teacher I've ever had. Shes explains with much detail and does not assume thatyou already know something. gives lots of hw but worth your while to do them. Tests are kind of hard but you get a cheat to help. overall great teacher
great teacher and good at explaining things; cons are difficult test and marks off points for stupid things like parentheses which adds up,too much hw is only 10%,quizzes 15%, hard work doesn't matter if you don't get at least 2 A's and a B on the exams, which is why im disappointed with my grade as a B plus
PROS: EXPLAINS EVERYTHING AND WRITES DOWN HOW TO DO EVERY PROBLEM A COOL LADY CLASS COULD HAVE BEEN HARDER ACTS LIKE A MOTHER FIGURE REAL COOL TO TALK TO NICE LADY CONS:HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER HAD THIS COURSE WAS USELESS TEACHER DOES NOT GIVE ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE TEST, QUIZZES, OPEN MINITAB OR DO IN CLASS EXERCISES OVERALL GOOD and I would take her again however the class is intense try to stay up on everything and not fall behind because you will not catch up do not skip either!
A nice teacher who actually takes the time to teach the material!! Homework and test grades help boost your grades and she is by far the best teacher to take for 212! Has plenty of office hours, too!
Oh my goodness! This class was harder than all five of my other classes combined! UGH! While she may be a great professor I felt she made the material too serious!(Being that she is teaching useless material)! Taking off points for too nit picky reasons! Assigns a ton of homework to make herself feel that her class is important! Just to feed her power trip! Instructor does not give enough time to take the quizzes and the tests are too long to finish in the time frame given. She also opens minitab too fast and gets to work on problems before you get a chance to start. The in class exercises in groups are not given enough time to complete either! Good teacher but glad it is over!!!!
Best professor EVER!!! Take any class that she teaches if possible!!!
Very hard class! However, she explain the materials very well. A lot of hw every week and quizz every friday! Every two week there is a test waiting for you to take and she expect you would write exactly the same answers as her answers. If you find any another professor is better than her, than don't take her. Otherwise she might be a good choice!
One of the best professors at VCU. Her lectures are crystal clear and she is so helpful. While attendance is not mandatory she will know if you are not there. So show some respect and go to class!
Very Nice, graded hw every night but it helped you learn the material and helped boost your grade. Was very helpful during office hrs.
She is a good teacher but requires a lot work and time. Homework is graded and it can help your grade out a lot. Class is not mandatory but she covers a lot of material in one day. There is a project for her class. Her test are not multiple choice but you can use a full sheet of paper front and back on the test.
intense workload. tons of time consuming hw. like 10 quizes for the semester. 3 quite difficult tests. and a giant semester long data analyzation project. only bright side is that you can have a page of notes for the tests
She is a very good professor if you plan to major in STAT!!She gave out a lot of work. HW was graded and the test were hard with the cheat sheet. The project was very time consuming and also HW. The only reason I got a C was because of the project which was a lot of work.
Great professor! Teaching style is VERY clear. Lots of homework, but very beneficial for tests and quizzes. Quizzes are closed notes, but allowed a cheat sheet for the tests. Come to class and you will do great!
great professor! be prepared for lots of homework, but in the end you will be ready for tests and weekly quizzes. she gives extra points for attendance which can help you in the end. she actually teaches, its great!
She is very easy to understand but you must come to every class. If you are late she marks you absent. Good at teaching, but you might feel like you are in elementary school again.
Not easy at all. She's clear in teaching and the course is outlined and followed to the letter. However, quizzes every week, and EXTREMELY hard exams do not help. There is a large workload for this class, and expect to use minitab. alot.
Pros: Lots of crystal clear notes, cheat sheets allowed on exams, she knows her stuff and is passionate about the material, graded hw and quizzes can help if you don't do well on tests. Cons: Too much homework!, she wants detailed work, class feels like elementary school (She will point you out if not paying attention), big semester long project.
Hefty work load, but Prof Burch is extremely clear in what she asks of you for the class. Took her for 301 and 302 and got over 95% in both classes. Not hard to do well, she hand feeds you all the information. Be prepared for weekly HW assignments to take 3 or 4 hours though.
STATISTICS is an awful class but I couldn't have passed it without Mrs. Burch. I am a horrible Math student so I was just trying to pass this class. Mrs. Burch makes sure that her assignments are easy to follow. Do the homework, go to class and turn in the project early for feedback.
Teacher was really awesome. Highly would recommend, you have to work hard to get an A though. I would take her for the summer to avoid project, but overall, teaching is crystal clear and wonderful to ask questions and makes things fun in class. TOTALLY WOULD RECOMMEND AGAIN.
Definitely take this over the Summer! Apparently the semester project is a drag. Very clear professor. Really good at teaching statistics. Fair... drops lowest quiz grade.
This class is homework intensive, but Prof Burch explains the material VERY well and even allows you a help sheet during the test. I don't believe that attendance is strictly mandatory but homework has to be turned in. If you aren't there you can't turn in the homework. If you put in the time, you'll do well in her class.
I took her for 301 and 302 and I wouldn't take this god awful class with any other teacher. Period. I've always been horrible at math, but she explains it so I can understand it. She motivates me so I feel like I actually WANT to work hard, and that doesn't happen often. Take her, or you're an idiot.
If you work full time and take at least 4 classes, the class is not for you. She gives so mush hw that there is no way you can do everything on time. Not really nice either.
Of all the professors I have had at VCU I have the most respect for Professor Burch! She truly loves teaching and wants you to succeed. You are absent if more than 20 min late but are allowed max of 6 absences. Do the homework, take notes in class (her note are all written on the board and extremely clear) and you will succeed. Highly recommend.
This class is not for someone working full time. She gives so much homework it's not even funny. They say a max time per class for studying is 3 hours, but in her class sometimes just the homework took 4 or 5 hours. She also chooses when to be picky or not and it's hard to judge when. And when you fall behind she becomes unpleasant.
Yes there are a lot of HW, quizzes, and 3 tests, a project, and an optional final to replace your lowest test score. She does drop the lowest quiz grade and two hw grades. Easy if you do all the work cumulative each week. I did that and got an A on each test and the project.
I AM A PERSON THAT HATES ALOT OF WORK. BURCH MADE THIS CLASS INTERESTING AS WELL AS DOABLE. I HAD A BAD PERCEPTION OF STAT UNTIL I TOOK HER CLASS. THERE IS ALOT OF WORK BUT IT HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND THE SUBJECT AND SHE IS VERY HELPFUL AS WELL. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE BOTH PARTS WITH HER, DON'T SWITCH TEACHERS, IT'LL ONLY CONFUSE YOU.
Prof Burch is a wonderful professor. Her expectations are very clear and she breaks everything down and makes everything very understandable. There is a lot of homework, however, this helps you understand the material. I work full time and took four classes this past semester, with no trouble.
She knows what she's teaching but you need to make sure you fully inderstand every single little detailed step to every problem. She says you don't need to know how to do certain things by hand when she tests you on it. TONS of homework, boring class. Went to every single one, did every single homework, tests are difficult! Couldn't get above a C.
The tests are very difficult, make sure you FULLY understand every single little detailed step she goes over in class or you'll fail. Quizzes EVERY week and tons of homework due every week. Did all of the homework came to every single class, barely passing. Would not recommend I have no idea why everyone thinks shes so great!
Huge project where she claims items within the project are "optional" to turn in when in fact they are mandatory if you want to pass on a project that is 15% of your grade. Three tests, no multiple choice all write in response homework assignments and quizzes every week. Very judgemental and not pleasant to be around. Get out of her class ASAP.
Avoid her at all cost. HW's takes at least 2 hours or more every week. She gives tons of notes every class that barely helps you with exam. Quiz almost every week. You have to turn in bits and pieces of a project through out the semester which also takes hours to figure out. Exams are nothing compare to quizzes and they are not multiple choice.
Fun statistics class! Enjoyed using minitab for tests and no project for 302! Attendance is mandatory though but you get points added to your final grade if you miss less than 2 classes. Take MGMT 301 and 302 with her!
LOVE Mrs. Burch! Class is interesting & she explains things VERY well. If you really want to learn Stat, take her! HW is tedious & takes about 2 hrs min, but it really helps to reinforce what she taught. Exams were pretty difficult, but fair. Take her for 301 & 302.
This professor treats you as if you are a child in high school. The course material is easy however you should avoid taking her class because she grades you based on how much she likes you. Good for a teachers pet but bad if your a fairly quiet person. The class is very tedious and she is picky. If you are enrolling in her class think again!
Wow what a horrible professor. Very bias. I go to ask her for help in her office and tells me that she will go over it in class but yet she teaches brand new material the next day. The way she teaches the material is confusing. i would NEVER recommend her for anyone.
she is very good professors, if u do homework(a lot of homework), u totally be fine with exams. i got A.
Disgard All previous comments. She's amazing! LOTS of notes, but pretty much SPELLS it out. You are allowed one entire sheet of paper for all 4 tests and 4 sheets for the opinional final plus a masterpiece she gives you. Homework due every mon. by 2, tons of time to do it just after class. Answered any question that I had.
I would not recommend a professor like her and I wonder how her ratings is high because I have seen a lot of people complain about her. She gives a lot of work and gets you confused. She could be rude in addresses students. I don't want to use the word I would have used but I can tell you she might not like you simply because of who you are.
I came with the excitement that stat was easier than calculus but to see that I was not having good grades as I had for my calculus class. I would recommend other prof
Way 2 much homework - unless u live for Stats. You heard it, go to another teacher. U won't have time for another class if u take this one. As for the cheat sheet, she doesn't give u 1. U have 2 make it just to get all the info she expects u 2 know. She's unrealistic in he expectations of us.
Her notes give you everything SPELLED OUT. Attend her classes, take notes, do the homework, do the labs, and you'll be fine. She is very approachable. BUT you must show how sincere you in making things work. I didn't do my work and so will be re-taking the class, but I am going to re-take it with her; she's THAT GOOD!
Best Teacher at VCU by far! Learns everyone's name by the first day which really makes her approachable. She does all the material step by step, and allows you to have a cheat sheet for tests. This was my second time taking Stat2 and it was like night and day for me. If you are looking for a teacher that really teaches I would recommend taking her!
Does she NOT realize she gives to much homework. It is barely doable & I am a straight A student. Please someone tell her to cut back on the hw for only 10% of our grade! Otherwise, she teaches statistics well.
I tried to keep up with her requirements. Once she makes up her mind about a student it's very hard to change her opinion. I am considering withdrawing from the class.
By far the worst class i have ever taken at vcu. She gives wayyyy to much homework is an understatement. its like unbarable. i had to drop the class but i really tried hard to keep up with her stuff till the very end and i couldn't . If you really love love stat take it if not good luck surviving . its difficult.
If you have a job, part-time or full, this is not going to work out for you. This class requires a lot of free time to master. Teacher is a nice person, really is; but there is really too much homework (and it doesn't affect the grade average enough), and the content is quite difficult.
She is nice but can sometimes be a little impatient. She assigns a very high amount of work. Its helpful to better understand the material though. Its necessary to go to class in order to understand whats going on. Don't take this class if you don't want to put a lot of time in. Got an A
Mrs. Burch is a great instructor for this course. Even though she assigned a lot of homework it is to your benefit because it prepares for the test. The homework/labs are almost identical on the test so if you are not a slacker you can easily get through this class.
Tons of HW, so you will need at least 3 extra hrs. Allows cheat sheet so use the HWs on your cheat sheet, not the theory in the book. Pretty straight forward of what she needs. HW will prep you for the test; HW grade affects the final grade-so do it. If you need an easy class, that is not the right class to be in.
Be ready to be very organized. Don't take if you can't keep up/not organized. Lots of hw,but really helps for exam. 1 cheat sheet, 3 exams, 1 final that is optional. She is very clear & her exams are exactly what she teaches. Go to every class or you will miss alot. Easy class to pass if you are organized & study for the exams.
She is very nice and knows what she is talking about but her class is ridiculousness. A ton of homework and busy work which gets very repetitive. There is homework, quizzes, projects, and tests with multiple things due each week. If possible i would avoid unless spending a lot of time doing statistics if your cup of tea.
5 pages worth of homework every week. Quizes are all explaining and theory with little to no room for actual math problems. Test are hard. Teacher has an attitude and can be very "yatchy". I did 8 hours worth of homework and tried to turn it in by 2:08 and she would not accept... AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!
She is nice but if she doesn't like you, she can be a little rude. Actually learned a lot in the class; glad I took it. A LOT of homework though... Attend class to get important little facts that are not in the book. Allows a cheat sheet on the exams. Homework is worth a lot so make sure to do it and go to office hours to get on her good side.
Why do people complain about this course/professor? She is super clear about what is required, and if you do it you get an A. If you slack off you don't. If you can follow simple directions, take this w/ Prof. Burch and take your A.
GREAT PROFESSOR. I would recommend you to take her because she is clear on everything she teaches. The homework is an overload, but the quizzes and tests are easy as long as you study the NOTES. She is always willing to help her students.
a lot of work
Professor Burch is by far the best professor I have ever had. She is always willing to make time to help you with anything you may need. She is a brilliant woman. As long as you actually go to class, pay attention/take notes, and do your homework/labs on time you will be fine. She does give a lot of work but it really helps you learn the material.
She is such a nice lady. She is very clear on what she expects. There is alot of homework but make sure you take your notes. As long as you take your notes and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE you should be fine. She is willing to help those in need. I recommend her for MGMT 301 and 302.
Favorite teacher ever! She has done recommendations for me and is an amazing woman! Lots of homework---but thats how you learn math!
Very passionate and helpful teacher. Always willing to help outside of class and very fast with replying to emails. Lots of notes in class but the notes are used for everything from the homework to the cheat sheet she allows for each test.
If you are lazy then dont take her. She is so clear with her work. Her notes are identical to the homework problems and the homework problems are identical to her tests. If you do the homework then you will pass her tests. Everyone in her class should get a B or higher. It is impossible to fail Professor Burch class.
Her teaching method is absurd. She teaches the information for the quiz the week before and continues teaching more information that isn't on the quiz up until that quiz so you get confused for what to remember Homework is due on Monday which she says is due at 2 pm but will teach what is on that homework that class so you can't do it before hand.
If you put in the time and effort it is possible to do well. Very clear in what she expects and it is vital to attend every class because everything you need to know is in the notes. Everyone who gave bad reviews probably just didn't put in the effort or listen to directions. Overall a great prof that teaches business stat very well, TAKE HER
To the people above who said "those who did poorly probably didn't go to class", well that is extremely true for her. I know some people who went everyday and still struggled. Attendance is mandatory, you'll be taking a lot of notes, and there is an extreme amount of homework. Take with a lighter course load. Go to her office hours for help!!!!!!!!
She was awesome!! Her teaching style is very helpful and she's as sweet as she can be!!!
Professor Burch is extremely nice! She is clear with her expectations from students and is willing to help anyone! WARNING: SHE GIVES A LOT OF HOMEWORK, not that the work is difficult, BUT it is very time consuming. 3-4 assignments at a time, but she gives you a week to complete it and turn it in.
She writes all the notes on the whiteboard, so no power points. There is a ton of homework which took me several hours to do. Although she drops the 2 lowest homework and lowest quiz grade, the tests are worth 60% of your grade so it doesn't do much.
Professor Burch really cares for the students. She doesn't have power points, instead she does notes the traditional way on the whiteboard. HW is tedious but helpful in the long run. Takes about 3-5 hours for a weeks worth of homework. Quiz every Friday, which helps prepare for exam. Study the notes, hw, quizzes and you'll be fine!
Professor Burch might be the best professor in the school of business. There is a lot of homework. There are also like 5 labs. Quizzes are 10 questions multiple choice. Lectures are pretty cool and entertaining. Tests can be tough if you don't learn how to make your cheat sheet. The final is optional.
Prof. Burch should be the model for the perfect professor. Every professor should be more like her. Lectures are clear and she provides helpful examples. Tests are based off of HW and notes. She lets you have a cheat sheet plus a formula sheet on test. My stat lab was useful. HW took about 2 hours per week, but they really help! Take her!!
Burch is a great professor. She is extremely clear on expectations. She gives A LOT of homework, but it prepares you for the exams since the problems on the exams tend to be EASIER than the problems on the homework. If you do your homework and go to class, you should have an easy A on your hands, folks.
She is the first teacher I had that truly made you work to show your understanding of math. Her test are mainly word problems and it is a challenge. But she has a lot of office hours and gives a lot of homework to prepare. If you are trying to get an easy A she isn't the teacher for you. But if you truly want to learn I highly recommend her.
Professor Burch is one of the best teachers I've had at VCU she is very clear and easy to understand. She gives great feedback and is always willing to help you. I took her for both semesters of SCMA and I wish she taught more classes! You have to go to class and do the homework & there are weekly quizzes. If you show up and listen you'll be fine!
Great professor. I took this class during the summer (3 week course). Mrs. Burch explains material very well. Lots of homework, but it prepares you for the quizzes. If you do the homework, review, and ask questions when needed you will be fine. Mrs. Burch is always available to help you when needed. Lectures are interesting, she makes it fun!
I literally made an account so I could boast about Professor Burch. You are allowed to miss 6 classes before it affect your grade, but I didn't miss 1 because I thoroughly enjoyed this class. She really understands how to teach the material effectively. You definitely need to sit in the from and participate, but if you do it's an easy A!
Listen people, this is all you need to know, the exams are very long so if you practice the homework and take good notes in class you will pass. Just know that she is a very tough grader. There are weekly quizzes and also the homework will take a few hours. Good luck!
Best professor! Show up to class or you will fall behind. Her notes are clear and organized and she is very good at explaining. She goes out of her way to help you if you need it and is clear on her expectations. She is timely at returning assignments and tests. She is a tough grader but only for your benefit. Put in effort and you will pass.
Alright here's the thing with Burch, she is a very nice PERSON but she is not a nice professor. She gives out 3 hours a homework a week and don't get me started with her LONG labs. Lastly, she is such a tough grader. If you do not write your sentences correctly on her tests, she will take off points with happiness. Overall she honestly sucks.
Burch is a kind person, but she runs a tight ship. HOWEVER, it's for the best - her strict requirements honestly help you learn the material better. Homework is frequent, and split between textbook problems and MyStatLab. It's essential to understanding her class. Her lectures move fast but everything she says is important. tl;dr: I recommend!
Professor Burch is awesome- adds two points to your final grade if you don't miss any classes, moves really fast so I don't recommend skipping. Drops the two lowest homework grades, lowest quiz grade, can replace lowest test grade with the final. Lots of graded homework. Had Custer for stats 1 and didn't learn anything- have learned a lot w/ her.
Tests are really long and all hand written. Some people do not finish on time. Gives a TON of homework and is a picky grader. You need the textbook. Her teaching style is fast paced, would recommend to not skip class. I am barely passing her course and I am good at math. Lots of people are struggling but there are the outliers with A's.
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. yes, she does give a lot of hw but it'll take about an hour of your entire week at the most and then you're done. she really makes sure heer students understand the material and will help you with anything. she lets you have sheet cheats with anything on them for her tests and even the final.
Take this class and Stats 1 at John Tyler
She is a great professor. I learned a lot and will be taking her again. Tests are difficult and hand written. She grades quickly and never tests on assignments she hasnt returned to students. Her jokes are funny as well. Very helpful outside of class.
I literally made an account JUST to tell you not to take Professor Burch. I spent the majority of my semester doing her homework. She is a great person but gives SO MUCH homework. It's not worth it, take statistics at a community college and at all cost AVOID Professor Burch.
I'm writing this review just to warn you all about Burch. Overall she is a genuinely nice person but an extremely strict professor. She gives ALOT of homework and half of the material on the homework is unnecessary. Her test are extremely difficult even if you do study and do well on homework and quiz's. Most students in her class are struggling.
Great professor; while it may seem like she gives a lot of homework, its really just an hours worth if you pay attention in class. She has super flexible office hours and encourages students to do homework there. You get a cheat-sheet for all your tests and she drops 2 homeworks, 2 quizzes, and replaces your lowest test grade with the final. 5/5
Best prof I have had at VCU. Yes, she gives a lot of homework but it prepares you and if you do the homework and review the answers you can easily get A's on tests and quizzes. She knows the material forward and backward and is always willing to help you out. Wish I could have had her for all my math classes. I would totally recommend taking her!!!
First off, she counts exams 70% of your final grade!!! Homeworks and quizzes are ONLY 15% of your final grade. She drops 2 of the lowest homework grades and 1 lowest quiz grade. I missed ONLY 1 class the entire semester smh. What she needs to realize is that every student is NOT A MATHLETE! This class by itself will takeover your other classes.
Took Professor Burch for SCMA 301 & 302 - honestly I found it to be a great choice. Very homework heavy but that is due to the difficulty of the course. If you show up and participate in class/homework, she wants to see you succeed. Came out of both courses learning a lot even through the stress of tests. Allowed to bring study sheets to test!!
Pamela Burch is my least favorite professor I have had in my past 3 + years at VCU. She has a crappy attitude and gives WAY too much homework. Guarenteed 2+hours of homework after EVERY class. I do not recommend taking this class with Burch.
Professor Burch is absolutely wonderful. Most of the time, people who do not like her don't complete the work she gives. She does give homework after every class but you have the entire week to do it. I've never had a professor as consistent as her. If you go to class and write down what she says. There is no reason to get anything lower than a B
Burch is one of my favorite professors at VCU! Beware there is a lot of homework. She drops a few homework's and quiz grades though! The final is optional. She gives extra credit if you come to every class. You also get a cheat sheet on the exams! Take her!!!
Homework after every class-- don't fall behind and expect to do it in one day; it's time consuming. She is very strict with her rules, but overall, a great professor that knows how to teach (relates to real-world scenarios). Pay attention and take notes-- write EVERYTHING that she writes; must be handwritten. Double sided sheet allowed for exams.
Mrs. Burch is one of the best professors at VCU. Show up to class, pay attention, and ask her questions along the way. In no way, am I good at math, and I still managed to get an A.
Professor Burch is a great choice for SCMA 302. While the workload a lot at times, prof. Burch is super organized and I was always able to locate examples, help, solutions, etc. on blackboard. She also transitioned great to online class due to COVID. Show up to class, do the homework, and write a good cheat sheet for the test and you will be fine.
I heard good things about her from those who took her in class, online her lectures don't have anything to do with the second half of the assignments, long hand written assignments. They're meant to be graded on accuracy, but takes off a huge number of points for things like poor penmanship.
She did a fantastic job giving students EXACTLY what information was needed to do well on the exams/homework. I'm not sure how people do not do well in the class with her because she legit hands you every bit of knowledge you might need in a neat & descriptive way. Lecture videos may take a bit of time, but space it out well and it's an easy A.
Professor Burch really cares about her students passing her class. At least for my class, due to covid, online classes were structured where Mondays are an overview of what you need to do, Wednesdays are extra help for students that need it, and Fridays are for quizzes or tests. She gives very clear instructions and weekly checklists. Take her!!
If you're a math or information system student, take her. Otherwise, stay away from that spoiled woman. She's gives nothing but ongoing work and never gives you rest.
Easily the worst professor I've ever had. I had a death in the family and she gave zero extensions and expected me to continue on pace with the class. She gets mad when you ask questions in class and she is genuinely not a good teacher. Don't take her.
Mrs. Burch thinks that she has the right to control students; that's selfish. Don't even think about taking her; she's spoiled, fussy, and always in students' business. She can't make decisions for students or play god with students' life.
I've had enough of this lady. She has attitude problems and has no right to control everyone and mind people's business. Pamela is such a spoiled and fussy lady, and not many students succeed in her course because of her behavior problem.
Almost 90% of students didn't succeed in her class because Mrs. Burch is spoiled and fussy over students. She thinks that she has complete control of everyone in the School of Business community, but she does not. So, don't even think about taking her classes.
Although Prof. Burch is a great teacher, her delivery and the way she talks to students is very brash and rude. Before even stepping foot in the classroom on the first day, she met me at the door with unnecessarily rude comments and has continued that pattern all semester. If she wasn't so demeaning, I'd recommend taking her class.
Mrs. Burch may be a kind lady, but underneath her personality, she's really mean. She gives assignments and tests unfair and abusive. It's like she's an evil woman from a film or something.
I don't know why anyone would say anything rude about professor Burch, she was amazing!! I could only say that she is a little sassy but it's not that bad. My advice is if you end up taking her DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! And take advantage of the resources she will provide for you.
Very rude professor, I'm still in this course and am absolutely baffled at how harsh and strict this professor is. However, if you like me HAVE to take this class with her, here are some tips: 1. The right answer is NOT sufficient. Work must be shown to her preference. 2. Expect extremely harsh grading, and do your work accordingly. Good Luck.
I don't know what's happening; this lady wants to be rude on specific semesters, sometimes kind and sometimes harsh. Mrs. Burch needs to clean up her act, and students must be aware of that when taking her classes.
She goes way to quick. She will move on before I finish my notes. She lets us use a cheat sheet but the notes lectures homework quizzes look nothing like the test. So you can do fine on everything and fail 1 test and you are failing the class. I would recommend her to slow down, teach properly, and make the test line-up with her educating.
Professor Burch is truly a fantastic teacher. While the content in this course is NOT easy,Burch makes sure to go thru each problem in so much detail, that its impossible to not do well as long as you take notes.Anyone saying shes rude, thats not true, they probably just didn't do the work.Long story short,DO THE WORK and you'll get an A in this class
The best teacher She explains everything perfectly and she helps you every time you need even in weekends. Quick response to emails.
Professor Burch is wonderful! She truly cares about everyone's success and is extremely helpful both in and out of class. Her class structure is very good, and there are many opportunities to improve your grade (lowest HW and Quiz dropped and an optional final). As long as you stay organized and come to class, you will do very well.
For exams, she provides videos and examples of questions that will be on the exam, and you're allowed a cheat sheet, front and back. As long as you keep all the templates in one Excel you should do fine on all the exams, utilize your cheat sheet!! And keep them I saved all of mine throughout the semester for the final exam.
Professor Burch is a tough but fair instructor. Her class is challenging, but she provides plenty of resources to succeed, including a helpful textbook and optional assignments. I found unstuck study to be a great study tool alongside the class materials. With dedication, you can do well in this course.
Dr. Burch is an amazing Stats teacher. There is homework after each class, but all relatively easy. She is very easy to reach and will work with you to help you understand difficult subjects. Make sure you attend every class. Every class is important for understanding topics and each class builds off of previous ones. Overall an amazing professor!
Great professor! Classes are really important, try not to miss any bc they will help you understand every topic. She makes STAT easy and fun! We have homework after every class but they're super helpful when it comes to quizzes and tests. Just show up, take notes, and do your homework. RESOURCES ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE WITH HER.
Good luck! In this class, you learn a new topic one day and are expected to fully understand it by the next class for the test. The pace is fast, and the grading can be tough she definitely expects you to stay on top of the material..
Terrible teacher. I went to every class, took notes, studied constantly and still had to withdraw. She always has an attitude and it feels like she doesn't want to help us. I went to her office hours once and it was not helpful at all. Take anyone but her.
She taught a college course as if it was middle school. Everything is on paper and electronics are not allowed the whole semester. She will call you out and humiliate you in front of everyone.
Her test are very heavy. The homework and labs will take you hours and hours. At office hours she is condescending and rude. Attendance is graded and you are not allowed to use any electronic devices at all. Take literally anyone else she'll make this class so much harder than it has to be.
