She's a cool teacher. She has her moody days but when she's had a full night's sleep, she's up and ready to teach. Others may find her lectures confusing but if you pay attention and take good notes, you'll do great!

Ms Williams is a nice young lady.
She is really good. She can be tough on you but it is only for your benefit. If you don't understand something she is extremely helpful in making sure you do.
This is the best professor I have ever taken. I have more than 300 units so far and three degrees. She is a bit tough, but extremely fair and you will learn alot from her. I have nothing but great things to say about her.Very clear and easy to understand
Clear directions, stays on sched pretty much, nice and pretty cute.
Excellent teacher! You learn a lot with her. Study Hard and work hard and you will pass the class. You will be glad at the end of the class you took her.
Great teacher, gives notes which are very helpful for the test,if you study her notes you will do very well. If you will take her class, you will enjoy it and learn a lot at the same time.
One of the greatest teachers I have had at Valley. She isn't easy, but if you put in the effort you should be fine.
dont take her.. she acts all cool, but no. trust me
Can you make the extra credit... more than 15? She wants all her students to understand the topics and likes to watch American Idol. She's cool!
Ms. Williams is da sh*t! Her lectures are super clear and her tests are not that difficult. I could say I'm passing with an A. She's very laid back but there are lots of requirements for this class...workshops, seminars. Gives extra credit though!-15 points
Williams may seem tough @ first, but shes really not. She provides notes 4 leacture,on exams just study the notes. Tutoring lab..if u are border line A/B she will look 2 see how much time you put in,she'll give u that A if u put the time. She also gives inclass quizes 2 keep u on your toes, i suggest you pay attention during lecture! GOOD LUCK!!!
Study her notes and read the chapters, but isn't that a requirement for most classes. She seems intimidating at first but as the time passes she reveals her sence of humor. She has a great personality and cute.
She's fantastic. I didn't even need a book. All I have to do to prepare for the exams are to study the notes and look at the pictures. At home, I only study the notes, in lab study the models and look at pictures.
Prof Williams is a pretty kool teacher- however...don't take her for an easy A. I did not find this class at all easy, however I did find it interesting, and informative. Theres a good amount of material to study- and my only suggestion to you is to use the CD.
If your willing to work for a couple hours a day on memorization then you'll do fine, but beware its not cake. I worked pretty hard for a "B". She is helpful and nice but always on her toes. Read the notes!
Bio 6 is cellular/molecular biology. If you dont need it, or aren't VERY interested in it, don't take it. Lots and lots of work-the honors section and the class together is like taking 3 classes. Be ready for lots of self study. Exams are very difficult-watch out for questions from chapters you haven't studied yet.
Good teacher that you can really get to know and talk to. Sometimes she doesn't know the answers to her own questions and makes alot of mistakes on the quizzes and tests, so look out!
Doesn't know the material, makes mistakes on quizzes and exams and in lectures. Can't answer any questions you may have about the subject either.
Prof Bryd's enthusiasm is contagious! When she has had her lunch, she is very amiable and has a wicked sense of humor. Her class requires a fair amount of work but its good preparation for science majors. Tests require thorough understanding of material. She lectures okay but a lot of reading is required beforehand. Be prepared to work =)
Anatomy is a class that teaches students how to study, amongst other things. Prof. Williams is very nice and helpful. She won't just give you the answer to your question, instead she'll tell you how to look for the answer or where to look. She's nice and cool. She interacts with students well. anatomy is time consuming so think TWICE.
She is a very thorough and prepared teaher. She gives out study notes for her class, so use those to study. she gives quizzes almost everyday to keep you on your toes. She is a fair teacher, you get what you deserve. Don't look for favors if you are slacking. Overall, I liked her style, she helped me with her great lectures and positive energy.
Dear students, Byrd is a very difficult teacher. Many of her exam questions have nothing to do with the material in the book. Her lectures are not sufficient for the exam because Physio is a subject that can be self taught right out of the book. She makes the exams hard and as a matter of fact no one in our class got an A. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN U
a really cool teacher! Especially after lunch.. Got to read your book though:)
Weird class (nearly all lab work, long periods of time wearing lab coats and latex gloves) but a great teacher. She is really knowledgable and experienced, also down to earth and funny. She really cares about students and their success. You will learn a lot of great skills in this class and likely have fun doing it!
Anatomy was one of the hardest classes i've ever had to take and unfortunately w/o help or even a little heads on advice you can do really bad really fast. I think she's an ok teacher but is lacking the love in her job. She should be a little more kind and less rigid and demanding about everything. She wasn't really helpful in the beginning
Prof. Williams is awesome. Lectures are interesting, and labs are fun. You will take alot of information with you. But alas this is a Majors Biology class, not easy. From the 1st day you have to read, work, read, review. This is unlike any class you will ever take, it doen't matter what teacher you take, they all teach it very alike. Just study!
Don’t take here she will just read the notes to you on lecture time, which is absolutely unnecessary because nothing she says on the lecture will show up on the test if you want to get a c in this class you have to read the book on your own and know it by heart and study every part of the anatomy and that’s just to get a c as far as her as a perso
Awsome teacher. Definitely not an easy A, but extremely helpful if you put effort into the class.A lot of memorization though. using the lecture notes definitely help, they minimize time spent reading the book. Attendance & paying attention in class make this subject easier than it is.
Professor Williams is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I really enjoyed going to her class. Her notes are extremely helpful and easy to understand. The cat dissection class she offers is very helpful as well.
Ms. Williams should go back into the lab. I don't think that she cares about her students or subject. Her test questions have more than 1 correct answer. As I went to the lab did extra credit, brought my lab grade from an F to a B it didn't matter.
Nice prof. with a great working knowledge of the subject and an approach to teaching which will actually prepare you for upper division classes. Don't miss a chance to take her class, you will learn so much (and not just about bio, she knows a lot about academia and is a great advisor if you plan to transfer and/or go to grad school).
Great Professor. She is such a caring woman. Her tests can be a bit difficult. But really you need to put in the hours of studying. The tutoring there at Valley helps so much. And do your extra credit immediately so you aren't doing it near the final. The class is mostly memorization. Flash Cards help and study groups in tutoring are great.
Great teacher !! Gives plenty of time in class to study and get hands on the models. The class itself is hard, but with her lectures and the extra study time she gives theres a chance. She also gives alot of oppertunities to earn extra credit.
SHE IS SUCH A WONDERFUL PROFESSOR, HER LECTURES ARE GREAT AND YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT BETTER THAN THE BOOK ITSELF. THOUGH HER EXAMS ARE HARD, SHE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT---I LOVE HER CLASS--WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO EVERYBODY. YOU WILL REALLY EARN YOUR GRADE AND WORK FOR IT. CONSIDERATE AND HELPFUL AND FEEDS HER CLASS WELL.
Very nice and caring.Lectures are clear. Before the lecture you are given lecture notes so that you know what to study for rather than reading the entire chapter.Gives extra credit to boost your grade.Take her it's a fun class. The only thing is if you procrastinate you will not pass.
THE BEST PROFESSOR AT VALLEY. SHE EXPLAINS DIFFICULT CONCEPTS IN SIMPLE TERMS. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER FOR BIO OR A&P. IN MY OPINION, HER APPROACH TO TEACHING IS SUPERIOR TO MOST OF THE OTHER PROFESSORS!
Smart, intelligent, fair and friendly this is prof. PBW. Very recommnded if you are a science major, she is helpfull, gives extra credit chances, easy going but serious at the same time. You need to earn your grade in her class. No cheating and no being lazy accepted.
I took Physiology & Anatomy 8 & 9 w/ her. She makes the class interesting by making us ask questions. She can tell you pretty good stories. It's hard because of the amount of info you have to memorize.
The thing about Professor Williams is that she is a COLLEGE PROFESSOR! You have to actually study for her class not to mention show up for classes but she is the most helpful teacher ever! You have to really study hard and read the book to do well in her class. An A is not impossible but you have to work hard for it! P.S. she gives a lot of EC!!
SHE's GREAT! her class is pretty hard but she's pretty lenient as long as she sees that you trying hard. She's very helpful and she wants her students to succeed so she pushes you really hard. If you guys want to learn I highly recommend her.
This is not an easy class and you actually need to work really hard for your grade. She is smart and helpfull, as long as you try hard she will take the extra step for you. Heavy load of reading, and you need to regularly study and know what you are doing. Lab reports require lots of time for the write up, there is a quiz almost every lab. Take her
I LOVE HERRRR!!!!! SHES SO NICE SHE REALLY HELPED ME AN AVERAGE JOE WORK UP TO MY POTENTIAL SHES GREAT SERIOUSLY SHES GREAT!
You will get the grade you work for. She is tough, but you will learn.
Very hard class. without support from fellow classmates it would have been impossible. I disagree with the previous comments that Professor Williams was helpful. I felt she thought she that she was just "slumming it with us" she looked annoyed when anybody approached her. She just used her computer during class time for other business
SHE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR! I TOOK HER ANATOMY 1 CLASS DURING THE FALL AND IT WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST EXPERIENCES. SHE'S HELPFUL AND WILLING TO EXPLAIN THE MATERIAL UNTIL YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND IT. IT'S ANATOMY SO YOU HAVE TO STUDY IN ORDER TO DO WELL. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! SHE IS A FAIR GRADER AND GIVES EXTRA CREDIT POINTS TO HELP YOU IF YOU NEED IT.
Dedicated professor. Fun environment. Awesome lab equipment and opportunities to use them. Lots of homework which I am not crazy about but if you wanna learn bio it's the only way.
I wanted to shoot myself. Forget everything and study BIO. If I knew I would never go to this class.
Outstanding Professor! She is extremely sweet and helpful and very knowledgeable about the subject. No, I am not saying that because i got an A, since i did NOT! I got a B in that class and it was my first and only B, it was completely my fault for working full time and taking 19 units. I simply did not study enough at all. Take her, she is amazing
It's really hard understanding why anyone would think of her as a good teacher. I am not going to say that she is not a nice person but she can not teach. Her lectures are pointless none of the material that she focuses on will be on any of her test. You have to teach yourself. Trust me I got a B and still wish I would have taken another teacher.
She is very smart and all around amazing person. When it comes to teaching she does not have the talent. Material covered in lecture will most likely not be on the test. Read the book and you'll do great. Test questions come from the book.
Anatomy is extensive, but Professor Byrd pares it down quite a bit. Exams aren't difficult, they just cover a lot of material. They are curved though, so you can miss quite a few questions to still get an A. Very nice professor and if you are willing to do the work, I highly recommend her.
Extremely Helpful!!!!!...Test are hard only if you do not READ THE BOOK!!...The lecture is good because it helps you get a BETTER! understanding of the reading...Lab is very very important!...She is a wonderful teacher...best of the best.
Study the book and stay away from her handouts and you'll be fine. She makes a lot of mistakes on the tests, lectures, and in her handouts, so it'll be better to self-educate if you absolutely have to take her. 15-20 points extra credit though.
Dr. Williams is a very nice person. Her tests are fair, and for the most part she tells you what to expect on the tests. IDK why people complain about her class. Seriously if you think that class is hard, you should quit now. She is very kick back during the labs, and overall a very funny professor. Such a fun class to be in. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Great Professor, VERY helpful. Class isn't that hard. I really enjoyed her class. Lab attendance is mandatory, but not lecture. (IMO, I wouldn't miss lecture)
She obviously thinks this is the only class we are taking. We not only get to attend class 4 days a week, 9.5 hours a week, but we also have to take 12 online quizzes for the 12 chapters we don't cover in class. The lab manual cost 65 dollars and she makes us re-write each lab into our lab notebooks. Why exactly? This is way too much busy work.
She is a sweetheart!! Very nice person and an excellent teacher. Her class is not an easy A. You have to know your stuff but its worth taking her if you are a life science major. Bio 6 will be the foundation for all the other classes, you do not want to take it with an easy professor just for an easy A.
Just an amazing professor and person! This is a very demanding class, but you should have known that when you signed up. She explains things clearly, is always there for her students, and is extremely knowledgeable. Can't wait to take her for anatomy! Best professor I have ever taken!
Words cannot describe the respect I have for this professor. Absolutely amazing. She is the reason I actually enjoy Anatomy. Remember one thing though: ALWAYS go by her notes for the tests. I realized too late that the book is essentially just useful for the diagrams ONLY.
If you decide to enroll in her Bio 6 class be aware that this class is NOT a joke. Most students think that minimal effort will achieve them a passing grade, NOT IN THIS CLASS. There are MANY chapters to read, labs to prepare for and every test will kick your butt. She is an awesome teacher, do not waste her time if you are not FULLY dedicated.
Awful teacher. Awful person. She called in sick for 2 weeks, but didn't notify the office of her status, so everyone still came to class. Gets snappy when people politely asked why. Expected us to know content without barely any review(because of her sick leave). Tested on things that wasn't in the book, and didn't offer any help in finding them.
Aww, Professor Byrd-Williams' Bio 6 class has been one of my favorite CC classes to date. She's very helpful when it comes to questions regarding the course materials, but her tests are tough! Studying is mandatory, as the concepts covered in her Bio 6 class are pretty complex. Do the work and you'll make the grade.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Out of all 3 classes im taking chem calc and bio this is the only class i look forward to attend, only one i am learning, only one professor who really cares, she is absolutely fenomenal! She truly cares about her students and is very flexible and understand this class is very difficult dont take me wrong but possible!RECOMMEND HER!
This is my second class with Professor Byrd (other being BIO 6) and I am still impressed. Her clarity is one in a million and is always there for her students. Homework is extensive and due at the beginning of every class period, quiz once a week, and 5 rigorous exams. Drops one quiz and offers ample amounts of extra credit. Love and will miss her
She is a great professor. She is nice, helpful, knows what she's talking about, and makes class fun. I highly recommend her.
Great Quality Professor, very patient and helpful.. comes off mean in the beginning but I would highly recommend her if you want to learn and am willing to study. Do not take her if you think it'll be an easy A...
She very smart, she makes the subject easy to study, I like her. Take her, make an effort, get your A.
Professor Williams is a helpful and nice teacher. But for this class you have to make sure you love the sciences or are good at memorization. Once youve finished this class it will determine for you if nursing/sciences is actually your true calling. In the long run this class is very fun just requires alot of study time and good memorization. :)
SHES A GREAT TEACHER, YOU WILL LEARN ALOT NOT EASY YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE ALOT OF PICTURES, BUT SHE GIVES ALOT OF EXTRA CREDIT. YOU WILL LEARN ALOT EVERYDAY IN HER CLASS I RECOMMEND HER!!! SHES VERY CLEAR QUIZZES ALOT AND 4 EXAMS. LABS ARE FUN!!!HW ONLINE!!!
Highly recommended! Lectures are very clear, gives good examples that help you to memorize material. Class requires a lot of studying, but come on, this is anatomy you can't pass the class if you don't study! Tests are straight from lectures! Easy extra credit (bring gloves, donate blood) Good luck!
Lots of memorising, hard from begining. Labs are very easy, test questions are not equally devided between chapters that she covered, she can put 30 qestiond on her favorite chapter, but only 5-10 on others Overol easy professor, gives a lot of extra credits, that helps a lot to build up your grade.she's easy compare to other physio professors.
take her class she is very knowledgeable. I had Dr. kovnat for another class and he was horrible.
OMG I love her, shes so helpul, nice, and best teacher ever had. Its a hard class but she makes it easy and fun, so much Extra Credit will help to get to A. Im taking Physiology with her. she is the BEST. love her.
Professor Byrd-Williams is amazing! She is very laid back to the point where it makes class very fun and relaxing. Out of my 5 semesters in laccd, her class was my overall favorite. Her exams are hard, you have to actually study to pass. Book isn't mandatory but it is very resourceful for her exams.
VERY Disorganized. Lots of mistakes. I recorded the lec, did the hw, finished the case studies and listened to her but got a C in my first test. When I started reading the book word 4word then I started getting A's. Prepare to drop her. extra credit available. She give us quizzes on unexpected materials and expect u to read ahead. NEVER TAKE
DONT TAKE.thank GOD she isn't teaching this fall. The worst prof I ever took.she quiz u on Unexpected stuff. LOTS of HW and case studies with NO help from her. if u ask her,"Oh thats a nice HW question" or "google it". English Second language students have hard time with her. NOT organized at all. She says "Iam sorry but I am tired so bare with me"
She was a good teacher for Anatomy but not for Physio. Always says "you should already know this" and jumps quickly through important info. She uses the book's power points and basically reads them word for word as her lecture which makes it really boring. MUST read textbook thoroughly to do well on exams. Very time consuming class.
Some lectures were good some a little slow, but I learned a lot! Yes I had to do a lot of studying but its a pre-req to a health career. The case studies were really helpful in learning how to apply information. Overallthe class has prepped me for the next level. Everyone else should stop whining!
I took Anatomy class with her. It was great experience. A lot of study but she's very helpful. Extra credits opportunity. I wish I can take physiology with professor Byrd-Williams
I would highly recommend if anyone needs to take anatomy take it with Professor Byrd-WIlliams. She's a really good with lecture she knows her stuff.. Also I highly recommend going to the tutor Lab to study the bones and muscle models and other models etc at the tutoring lab. Also if you register in the tutoring lab you get 1unit credit. Good Luck!
She's one of the very few, good professors that actually test you on what she lectured. The amount of material on each exam is overwhelming; however, she makes it easier on you by emphasizing what is actually going to be on the test, and narrows down the chapters to what you actually need for future classes and careers. SHE NEEDS HER TEA LOL
GO TO OFFICE HOURS. If she knows you care about your grade she will help! While everyone says her test are hard and her test has nothing to do with lecture it is sort of true. While what is on lecture will come out in the test. But there are some things she won't cover that is in your book! So essentially READ THE BOOK! And you will do good!
Took her back in 08-09. Lectures are interesting. She relates some lectures (the musculoskeletal system) to food. That makes it somewhat understandable. There is a lot of homeworkreading. She will help you as much as she can. NOTE: If she shows you images (head CT and leg x-rays), That's me. I let her borrow my info; I never got it back.
She gives pop lab quizzes as well as well as random lecture assignments. However, she keeps her lectures and labs as interesting as possible. Don't rely on those for the tests though. Read the book! You have to put effort into this class, but there are extra credit opportunities to help boost your grade. I don't regret taking her!
Make sure to be in class on time or you will not be able to take her weekly quizzes which are counted towards the grade. Great Lecturer and makes the Lab fun. Expect to work with partner or groups.
She is the best !!! One of my favorite professor at valley college. Her lectures are never boring! You'll definitely learn a lot from her, she knows her stuff. Take her ! Won't regret it. I'm sad that she is not teaching physiology cause I would take her again.
Mutliple choice portion of the tests are from the textbook test bank which is easy to find. She gives quite a bit of extra credit. Lectures are pretty useless because it is basically everything in the textbook. Isn't organized when it comes to having a gradebook with all the assignment and test scores entered.
Professor Byrd Williams saved my butt this summer! Taking anatomy in 6 weeks was killer, but she did all she could and more to help us all out. She's very clear about what you need to know and will constantly explain everything. She's amazing!
Took during Summer 16, and it was a 6 week course. Already difficult class, and in such a short period of time it was insane. Prof Williams made it an amazing experience. She put in hours of extra time to help and guide us, she did everything in her power including extra credit to help get that A, you just have to be willing to work. TAKE HER!!
Professor Byrd Williams is one of the best professors at LAVC. Anatomy is intense, but the way she explains & teaches , makes the subject crystal clear. There are no tricks, she is very straight forward. I wish she taught Physiology :( Would definitely take again!
The best Prof I have ever had! She's so smart and lectures in a very clear and entertaining manner, making difficult material easier to digest and fun to learn. She REALLY cares about her students but wants you to care about your grade and earn your A by doing your best. Lots of extra credit and is really the sweetest Prof once you get to know her.
Took during summer. One of the best professor I have ever had. Only tests on what is needed for Physiology etc. Very straightforward grader, forgiving but only if she sees you are working hard. Guarantee you will know your stuff when you are done with her class. She will go above and beyond to make sure you are able to learn the material.
Exceptionally, one of a kind! Professor Byrd-Williams' determination towards the class, created an all-inspiring environment. I am currently enrolled in her anatomy class, and am taking my final tomorrow. She is relatable to her students, and makes a tough subject enjoyable to learn. I wish I could take her for physiology! Be ready to study!
A science course will never be easy. Expect to study long hours, and put in the effort. There will be times where it becomes overwhelming, and tiresome. The encouragement, Professor Williams gave to her students, made the class want to do better. She is very straightforward, and won't trick you. If you ever read this Professor Williams, thank you!
Very knowledgeable about what she's teaching. She will strip down a massive topic into the bare essentials that you absolutely need to know. Her notes are a god sent, LEARN THEM inside out backwards forwards upside down. Tests are straightforward. She will tell you what you need to know. Very glad to have taken her. Everybody got that?
I am happy with the content of the course, she used to present the lectures very nicely. She's well prepared and comprehensive. Very stimulating teaching style. Classes were nicely structured and presented (besides cleaning your table before class :)) She challenged us but she really does her best to give you detailed explanations and clarity.
She is an amazing professor, she's understanding and wants you to pass. For lab you spend time studying. Grade is based on 4-5 exams no quizzes. In any Anatomy class, your life becomes Anatomy be prepared to study.
I truly believe Professor Byrd-Williams is one of the best Anatomy teachers there is out there. Byrd-Williams does care for her students and gives many opportunities to boost your grade. One thing to know is that this course is def not easy. Put the work in, don't miss class or skip (!!!) and study prior to class! She's a gem:)
Anatomy is a HARD subject. You have to study hours outside of class! Professor Byrd Williams is a great professor!!! She will tell you what will be on the exam (what to study and what to ignore). MEMORIZE ALL HER HANDOUTS IGNORE THE TEXTBOOK USE THE TEXTBOOK FOR DIAGRAMS ONLY! She offers extra credit and she will answer all your questions. TAKE HER
Anatomy is a difficult subject but Professor Byrd does whatever she can to help you out. I honestly thought I was going to fail this class because I took it as an 8-week summer course but she was so helpful and encouraging. It was no easy A and you have to study every single day to understand the material! TAKE HER!
Professor Williams in my opinion is the best. She made anatomy much easier to comprehend. Expect to study every night and go over her notes and notes you wrote during lecture. Exams and quizzes are pretty straight forward and cover everything she went over.
Professor Williams was amazing. Let me start off by saying she will make sure you understand every material she is giving in class. Her lecture notes are great and as long as your keeping up with her lecture and taking notes you will do fine on the tests. She also gives A lot of extra credit!
Not a great professor, she didn't always lecture during lecture hours. DIY attitude, wish I took Brockmann instead.
Don't take her if you're lazy. She's very straightforward & she'll tell you everything you'll need to know, but you HAVE to go to class. Only 10 out of 40 ppl passed the first exam. I was one of them & all I did was study the notes she gave us. It's not that bad just study. Plus she gives a lot of extra credit.
Professor Byrd-William present the material in a clear and logical sequence and meaningful. It cover the subject matter adequately. Those students who criticized her teaching styles most of them didnt studied and failed the class.
Single best professor at LAVC. Not only for Bio6, but for bio 40, 185, and even Anatomy. She is kind and caring, loves her students, and helps everyone succeed. Her classes are challenging (not too tough) if you study a week in advance. Take her for every single class you can!
Professor William is great, at first I hated the class because it's a lot to memorize at once, but ended up putting in work and got the grade I deserved. Do not skip class it will affect you trust me, gives pop up extra credit. Do not procrastinate as the material piles up fast. Read the ch review always.
THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER TAKEN! SHE IS FAIR AS LONG AS YOU WORK HARD IN CLASS. SHE IS THE BEST WITH AN AMAZING AND KNOWLEDGABLE SKILLS ABOUT SCIENCE, BIOLOGY, ANATOMY AND MORE! LOVE HER TEACHING STYLE AND HER CHARACTER! TREATS EVERYONE WITH RESPECT AND GIVE EVERYONE A FAIR CHANCE! THANK YOU PROF. BYRD WILLIAMS FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO FOR US!
Professor Byrd is good but not great. My biggest issue with the class was she had an attitude a lot of the time making her students feel uncomfortable to ask questions. Quizzes almost every class on chapter previously covered. She drops the lowest quiz score.
She is very caring and understanding. For this class her exams are based on the diagrams for each chapter in the book. Essay questions on the exams are the diagrams. She is a mother and she has maternal instincts for her students. I enjoyed the class knowing that she actually cared and wanted to help all of her students. Show her that you care!!!
She was not as great as I expected. She has an attitude and unfriendly so I was discouraged to ask her any questions or ask her to slow down during lectures. When I did ask questions, she shut me down or sometimes, she gave me a ran about answer. She is unapproachable. I don't recommend her class.
Anatomy class is hard to begin with and this professor makes it harder by giving quizzes every class meeting, which it can be very stressful. She gives you 6 exams total, lab manual, and homework. She is not helpful and answers questions with an attitude so I dropped her class. Look for other professor with a better attitude.
worst professor ever!! she makes her class so hard by giving quiz for every class. she also doesn't want to review quiz or exam questions after, so you have no idea what was your mistake. She is not helpful and if you ask her question she will ignore you. every time for quizzes and exams she makes student more nervous by her attitude!tough greader.
Worst class ever! She'd have been a great drill sergeant. She has no sense of humor and goes through her lecture too fast. She loves giving quizzes every class. She covers one chapter a day so prepare to work a lot. I regretted taking her class.
super hard class. quizzes every class meeting. no study guide, exams are difficult. its both practical and multiple choice. theres a lot to memorize and she covers one chapter a day.
No anatomy class is easy. You will however find amazing professors that will give you everything you need to be successful. Professor Byrd is an amazing and respected professor . Gave the class extra credit opportunities. Would definitely take the class again. Study guide matches exams.
Very heavy lectures EACH class. Quiz everyday as well. Exams are way too heavy and require memorizing over 3 very heavy chapters. Definitely think that should change.
Those students who rated prof Byrd-Williams awful and poor - If you're a D student or dropping the class don't complain! You need to study. You are hater rater student. Anatomy is not an easy class!
like any anatomy class it is a difficult class, but pay attention and us the resources she provides you with n you will pass.
she's a 3.5. She's a great professor and loves bio. If you figure her out, you can ace her excessively long exams. I did. Tests run 2 hrs even tho class is 1.5. Her cons: many many formal labs, does not believe in letting anyone go early, and doesn't grade. Its a week after finals and she's still grading from the beg. of the semester.
She is a very sweet lady and loves biology. Also, she is very knowledgeable about cell biology. The exams were fairly easy. The lectures were pretty good except the last 5 chapters. The only con was that she did not grade most lab reports until after the final.
I understand that Anatomy is hard but this professor is ridiculous. She encourages her students to go to her office hours but she is so rude and unapproachable that people stay away from going. Her exams are nothing like her lectures. You're on your own throughout the entirety of this class.
Professor Byrd-Williams is an amazing professor. I got the grade I did because I slacked off but she was so helpful and was always there when I needed her. 10/10 would recommend. She does give a quiz at the beginning of every class to make sure youre studying
I took her class and dropped. finally got a B with a diff professor. had to review her to help others decide. lots of hw. heavy lectures. tests are not easy, lab tests were extremely difficult and slim to no extra credit. take this if u don't work, ur sort of on your own here. her lectures are crystal clear. she's passionate about teaching.
My biggest complaint: did not even grade 90% of the assignments until AFTER the final. I never missed class, and yet I saw she entered a zero for a quiz we took the 2nd week of school. Messaged her politely asking how this could have happened, never received a reply. It was too late anyway, as grades had been sent. Mastering assignments were a joke
A very knowledgable and inspirational prof, however, is lazy and apathetic toward the end of the semester as she does not grade over 90% of her students' work until after the final. She is unprofessional and rude during office hours and does not respond to emails. I tried my best to admire her, but she's only great as a person not as a prof
The class is 9 days, this was my first time taking her class. I've never had a better lecturer for a professor. Everything we learned was connected to what we did in labs. Highly recommend taking any of her classes, she cares about the person and the knowledge more than the letter grade.
This is a difficult class due but only due to the volume of info. The concepts are not difficult and she tells you exactly what she wants you to learn and what is on exams. Lectures are very valuable but you will probably still need to supplement with the book. The professor may seem somewhat strict but it's for a reason. STUDY and LISTEN for an A.
Professor Williams is literally the best professor at LAVC. Anatomy is not an easy subject but professor Williams helps you a lot to get the grade you want, her lectures are very helpful, her notes are clear and she basically tells you whats going to be on the exam. 5 exams, drops 1 quiz and 3 homeworks, she was so helpful during pandemic times.
Hated this class. I took the summer course--WOW! It was constant info and no time to process. Professor did everything she could to help us. On her syllabus, she even mapped out when we should be studying what! Great for people who lack time management skills. Pro tip: Listen to Lectures, then read the CH. If you want an A you have to do both!
Took this professor based on the good reviews. Passed the class with an A, material was easy for me because I love all sciences but WOW it's like she sets you up for failure! Assigns TIMED homework? I didn't even know that was a thing! Proctored quizzes/exams, 25 questions but only 7 mins to complete it??? No curve. She WANTS you to fail.. So sad!!
A good anatomy professor is hard to come by but she is pretty good. She's very knowledgable about the material and is willing to meet with you to help you understand things. It's a lot of memorization and you have to study but she provides good lecture notes. The tests and quizzes are what she lectures about so pay attention in class.
Decent amount of homework/lectures to watch for this course. However, it was definitely not bad and I'm glad I had her for Bio 6. She's pretty reasonable - a solid choice for this bio class!
Does not give you any chance to fight for your grade and she submitted them before the class was even over. Extremely test heavy, you fail even one and you wont have a chance. I definitely do not recommend
Professor Byrd-Williams is the best bio professor I have ever had. I was able to actually learn the material without being super stressed about exams which are half multiple choice and half free response. You have plenty of time for exams but make sure your free responses are THOROUGH. Very caring and approachable. Amazing lectures. 10/10
bio major here, short and simple, P. Byrd is by far the best prof I ever had. Respectful, understanding, and caring. just show up AND ASK during lectures, watch online lectures before so u get prepared (extremely helpful), it gets overwhelming if u don't have a good background. Difficulty level LABS: 6/10 HW: 6/10 LECTURE: 9.5/10 TESTS: 8.5/10
Prof Byrd is a chill prof and is clearly knowledgeable. Her class is rlly test heavy & most of the labs are kinda dumb. Its the week before finals & she's given us a bunch of assignments, a research paper, & a presentation. This class is lecture heavy and you need to read to chapters from the textbook. Don't take this class with other hard classes
Professor, Pamela Byrd Williams was one of the best professors that I have ever had, she is so nice, she is flexible, she understands her students very well, she is teaching perfectly, her exams is not too difficult, if you study properly you will be able to have a great grade.
This is the 2nd time I've taken her and she is my favorite professor. All her expectations were clear and her tests were fair. I only struggled with the last exam but I already knew my weakness was genetics. She has a good amount of work that is manageable and was understanding. Grades are determined on more factors than just exams!
the professor herself is a good person, but I wish she went a little easier on her students. There was a lot of pressure to complete things while studying her difficult exams. if you have a job, kids, enrolled in other classes, or just dont want to devote most of your time to this class, dont enroll. But you overall gain a lot of information.
Without Pamela Byrd-Williams, I would never have become a surgeon and doctor. I appreciate everything. Thank you so much for making it happen for me
The labs are a time filler and the instructions are so inaccurate that she has to give lengthy modified instructions. If you are an adult student who works full time (not fresh out of highschool) , this class is a waste of time. She is late on grading and rude to students. Also sorry but her voice is so shrill
Exams are concept-heavy, so read the textbook. Pop quizzes based on lab & lecture. Don't take this with other rigorous courses!! It consumes a lot of your time, not ideal if you're working. She is friendly but sometimes impatient and disorganized as a professor. She assigns labs and a research presentation before finals week, so plan accordingly!
Byrd-Williams is a knowledgeable professor, but her class can be challenging. Attend lectures, watch videos, and use resources like Unstuckstudy to stay on top of the workload. Overall, a rewarding experience.
I wish i could be BRUTAL, but it would get taken down. She is SO late when it comes to inputting grades, for one of her skeletal exams, we learn on the manikin's in the lab but for her exam she brings out REAL skeleton pieces that look NOTHING like the textbooks OR manikins. Its super unfair. She doesn't even lecture. I wish i could write more. UGH
