She is a great teacher. She loves to teach and she knows what she is talking about. She discusses all the material daily so you understand it and what she expects. The reading is minimal and as long as you keep up you will do great!

Outstanding teacher, presents an excellent classroom environment
One of the few professors I've had who loves their job. Expects alot but always willing to help. I learned alot in this class that I didn't expect to learn.
It is an easy A if you do the work
I thought she did a great job at relating to topics that the students actually wanted to discuss and made class interesting.
Brillant. Creates an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes open discussion, and she really makes you think. She is very helpful, and teaches you to be a better writer, reader, and speaker. I highly recomend this class.
She's a really nice person adn a great teachers. I love this class.
good at conveying content and its importance, good side notes and stories, verry receptive, fun and engaging class
Great class and great professor. She is fair and yuo can tell she really likes to teach. Makes the class fun
I've taken three classes with her. I'd recommend her to anyone.
best teacher in the world
She is so cool. She never makes you feel dumb and everyone has a chance to talk. Nice. smart. Good class.
Definitely recommended!
I loved Pam. She let the class dictate much of what we studied as well as the format of our final. She is truly interested in her students' success, not in tricking them.
If you know what's good for you, you will stay away from Pam. She is a self-admitted super-feminist who continually shoves propaganda down your throat all semester. What's even better is that you have to write 4-6 page essays on this stuff that is total nonsense. I have a 90 average in this class too, so I'm not upset because of poor grades.
Loved her. The only English course I ever enjoyed.
Good professor. She sometimes goes off on tangents, but the stories are ususally good. Nice person. Seems fair in grading.
She is very opinionated. Her class is a lot of writing but obviously because she teaches English. She is hard to approach sometimes and you can tell when she doesn't like you. She isn't afraid to call you out in front of the class for doing something she doesn't like. She is a tough grader sometimes but she lets students run the class.
Sometimes I think she just throws opinions out to the class to start discussion. I don't think they're always her opinions. I like her. Easy to talk to. Lots of writing but she keeps it real. One of the few classes I like going to. I'd take another class with her.
I took Eng 101 with her and then Eng 217. She is a wonderful professor. Very nice, somewhat opinionated but will not shoot down your opinions. She is extremely helpful, and the work is a fair load.
cool lady. smart but doesn't push it in your face. great sense of humor. will listen to all opinions even if she doesn't agree. hard grader sometimes but this class was great. you can tell she loves what she does.
She lets you re-do everything. Pretty easy class.
Great professor. So glad to have her. Taught very well, as long as you are willing to learn and put the effort in. If she know's your putting all your effort in she is always glad to help you...
very hot lady
Professor Emigh-Murphy is a wonderful teacher! I took ENG 250 as a requirement and ended up really enjoying it because of her. She helped me realize that I have more to offer than what was expected of me. I am taking her ENG 105 (honors lit)class, and plan on taking many more. She is very understanding, caring, and always willing to help students.
Amazingly talented, intelligent, and witty. She's always willing to help students. She has helped me to come out of my shell and discover creative capabilities I didn't even know I had. I would recommend her classes to ANYONE, even if you are just taking them as requirements. FANTASTIC PROFESSOR!!!
She is the best professor I ever had. She solicits class participation. She is willing to go the extra mile for students. You have to work for your grade. She made me a better person for having attended her class.
She keeps your interest like a Rock Star performs. Impossible to go to sleep during class. Dresses hot. Opens the mind. Makes you challenge yourself. Best teacher I ever had.
Essays are very easy and manageable. Teaching style very followable; however lesson plans are very improvised at times. She's a little scatter-brained, but effective, nonetheless.
I took professor her ENG 105 honors class and I loved it. Science and the humanities has been an interest of mine forever, and she did an excellent job finding parallels between both topics. This was her first semester teaching the course so there were some bumps along the way, but overall this class was very effective and useful. GREAT TEACHER!
She has an understated intelligence about her, but I think she does that on purpose. She gives her students a lot of freedom, which can be intimidating sometimes, but she expects a lot out of you in return. A really good professor!
Great Teacher! tough but extremely nice and willing to help!
She's a great professor, but the class was very boring, maybe because I don't like to write much.If you like Rock bands you will have something in common with her. She really gets into her readings and expects you to also.
Pam isn't bothered with whether you show up to class or even if you do assignments. She takes the attitude that if you're worried about, you'll let her know. If you're not, she's not. The thing is, you don't want to miss class. She makes even the boring stuff interesting somehow. Not the typical lit class. Knows her stuff, nice person, laughs alot
Easy teacher, very lax on everything, but it's within your best interest to not take advantage of that, because she is fair, especially in the aspect of, if you don't do the work, you won't do well. Oh, and no quizzes/tests, isn't that a plus?
i've been waiting for a class like this. she's great. not for the light minded. gives you tons of freedom but if you slack you pay th e price. she'll talk about anything in class. great class.
This was my favorite class ever. She made everything we discussed this semester interesting. She lets students dictate class a lot, which is great, but she also steers us in the right direction with good readings and advice on writing. A little disorganized and pretentious at times. But I highly recommend this course and professor. Makes you think.
This was the worst professor that I have ever taken a semester with. She is not helpful with any question she attempts to answer and is always unprepared. It just goes to show you that when the college removes her as a teacher from the course that she must have been doing a bad job. The class average was a "D".
Took two courses with this professor. Great teacher, very liberal and open-minded. Makes you think. Goes off on tangents, but on fun topics. A fan of critical thinking. Be prepared to learn and to work hard. In the end you get what you deserve!
Awesome professor!!! Treats everyone with respect and like a real person. No ego trips with her. She's great. Holds you accountable to do good work, but will be flexible with due dates. Everyone felt comfortable in our class, so lots of good discussions. We talked about all kinds of good stuff that other professors would kick you out of class for.
Amazing professor! She is truly a humanitarian and I learned so much in her class. All professors should take a cue from this one!
I took her Honors ENG course and it was extremely stimulating and insightful. She thinks outside the box and challenges you to do the same. Papers to her are not reports, they are personal expression and as long as you stay true to yourself you will do very well in her class. VERY enjoytable class. I think everyone should take her ENG class.
I've completed my first year of college so far and this professor is definitely the BEST I've had at MCC. I cannot say enough wonderful and positive things about her. She truly has a kindhearted spirit and will open your mind to all kinds of interesting new ways of thinking. This professor made a HUGE positive impact on my life. Due to her teaching
I think this may have been her first time teaching this course online. There wasn't much comunication on her part & she did not grade papers in a timely fashion.
I took this class cuz I have to, but I'm glad I did. She knows the subject well and makes class discussions interesting. Always connects the literature to something current that we can relate to. The reading can be hard, but she's good at explaining. She gives you the questions for the exam a week ahead of time so you can study. Very nice lady.
We need lots more profs like her.
We need more profs like her.
Wonderful professor! We need more like her! Very understanding and interesting. Projects are semi-hard, but interesting. If you pay attention in her class and participate in class discussions, you will do great!
Very bright and loves what she does. The bad news is that she is disorganized and takes forever to hand back papers. Lets the class get away with waaaay too much. Better for honors classes.
horrible teacher! Bewear~
great professor. She pushes you with hard stuff and expects a lot, but really cares and will help you. Allows you to be you and think outside the box. I grew as a person and a writer. Loved her.
Great professor. She's very passionate. If you do the work, and you use proper grammar and spelling, you'll do great in her class. She's a hard grader, but she does it to help you grow. Best professor I've ever had.
My favorite class. Love the teacher! Artsy, authentic, doesn't spoon feed you, lots of freedom, introduces you to unusual stuff, open style of teaching, likes creative critical thinking, wish more profs were like her! comfortable classroom style, everyone in the class likes her. Not hard, not easy, just different. you'll like her
Amazing professor. More concerned with cultivating meaningful in-depth discussion of the topics rather than sticking to a deadline. With that being said, I learned more about the material than I have in any class I have before. Assignments are lengthy, but thought-provoking and enriching. College is optional; earning your grade should be mandatory.
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! She is SO caring, genuine, and emits nothing but POSITIVE energy! I've had many professors over the years, and she is definitely my all-time favorite. She is a smart, competent, skilled, and knowledgeable professor who genuinely cares about and listens to her students. She truly has an angelic soul that radiates outward! :)
She's so awesome. Nice. Pretty. Everyone in the class likes her. Laid back, but still passionate. Cool lady.
Taking an online class with her and it's awful. It takes her weeks to return assignments and if you have an issue with your grades, good luck getting it fixed. Her directions can be really vague, and we're lucky if our weekly assignment folder is unlocked a day late, let alone on time. Sounds like her on campus classes are fine, so avoid online!!
online class. She does take a long time to grade stuff but she's super nice and keeps us updated and allows extra time for stuff. seems a fair grader but a little hard. allows rewrites sometiems too. lots of quizzes and reading but i'm learning a lot. i hear shes good in the class room too.
She is soooo nice. What everyone else said here is true. She's caring and a real humanitarian. Banned Books class. Some readings are hard, but it is a 295 class, not a freshman class. She gets mad if you don't read. Class is mostly discussion. Syllabus changed a couple times. She takes time to grade, but fair and lots of feedback. You'll like her.
Just returned to college after 40 years. Took online english. Assignments were insightful. Attendance important, due dates flexible. She was always late opening assignments. took 6 weeks to get grade/comments on papers. Should not be online professor.
Important class. Great prof.
She's great
A peaceful & joyful women. Went to see her for help on the essay and she is very helpful when you talk to her personally. very nice women and very pretty. Doing my class with her online. Go to see her if you get confused. She is very pleasant and helpful.
Pam is a professional woman. I'm an adult woman going back to school. I've been at MCC for 3 years. This is the first class that feels like a college course. First time I've been challenged. Very kind, but wow, she stretches your mind. She's a role model. Enjoyable. Fair grader, helpful, well-liked.
Good class
I took this course online. Pam is the kind of instructor that will ask for your opinion on a subject, then grade you low because your take on the subject doesn’t match what she had in mind. We read the Alchemist and My Sister’s Keeper, Boring! In the end, I can’t respect her style of instruction because she won’t let go of an earned A.
This professor has helped me grow so much as a writer! She is always willing to offer help if you need it, even though she may seem a bit flighty at times. She truly loves writing, and that shows through her teaching. If you do the work, don't use run on sentences, and engage her interest, you will be fine. I would definitely recommend ENG 200!
Turned out to be my favorite class. Definitely an interesting professor. She will definitely give you a new perspective. The whole class loved her. No textbook but a lot of writing. She's easy to talk to and likes debate. I tell all the engineering students about her class. You'll like it.
She makes you a better writer. The class is hard, no doubt. The book was not necessary. I liked that she is a master of her subject; she's very smart and caring. I did not like that she was unclear about many parts of assigned papers. I feel like there was unnecessary struggle due to her lack of organization. But I am a better writer because of her
I am really not into Lit, but she made the class interesting. The class is all about debates over controversies and books. You don't have to write overly much either. Plus she is a very nice Lady and she will appreciate your participation in class.
Took her ENG 101 online and it might as well be an instructor-less course. She started grading our works only starting midsemester. Only 1 paper with comments. Her activity instructions were not clear and if you ask questions, it takes several days for her to respond if she ever responds at all. She shouldn't be teaching any course online.
I had to withdraw the class because she is unforgiving when it comes to grammar. Your 10 page papers cannot have more than 7 grammatical errors or else an automatic failing grade is given. I got great comments on my essays subject matter and overall organization, but I had 11 grammatical errors so I received a 65. Bad at grammar... DON'T TAKE!
I really recommend this professor! It is a very writing intensive course, and there were quite a few new concepts to be learned, but this professor really listens to a student's concerns. I remember that she actually set a whole class day aside to talk to us about our concerns, and ask us how we thought the course curriculum could be improved!
shes a nice person and all but eng 101 was so difficult because of her. you really gotta pay attention to pass. she gives out a lot of quizzes and doesnt really give out notes. class was too long and boring, i wouldve rather taken the online than this...
Professor Murphy is a great writer whose passion for literature is infectious. Her lectures are the best if you love to delve into the mechanisms of literature. You will see short stories in a whole new way. Lectures touch on personal topics interweaving with the content. She is nice, funny, and loves English.
liked her from day one. everyone in the class to like her i think.
the coolest person i ever met. laid back. class is fun. everyone in class loves her. and respects her. different kind of proffessor. the assignments seem easy at first but they make you think hard about stuff that you usually don't think about. plus she's really hot!
She's just an amazing person. Really cares about you and takes the time to meet with you if you need extra help. It's not just about grades with her, she cares about what you have to say and how you are doing in your life. She made me comfortable enough to speak my mind in front of the entire class. I wish she taught every subject!
She's great. a different kind of teacher, she likes everyone and very friendly. Super easy to talk to. She says people judge too much so she tries not to. Makes it easy to talk in class. Really like her
One of the best professors I've ever had. She's so passionate about what she's teaching and she truly cares about her students. She had us write a few papers, but didn't give us strict due dates.
She is a very nice person, but she gives little to no feedback. We have journals due almost every week and she has yet to grade any of them and we're on week 9. She seems to be a bit unorganized and sometimes puts readings or dropboxes up last minute for assignments due the next day. Would not recommend her and would not take her class again.
I took the online English class. Things were never graded quickly and I never knew about my grades. Getting in contact with this professor is super hard, and she doesn't respond quickly at all to e-mails. The class is overall pretty easy but if you're looking to know your grade, and answer questions I'd try to find a different professor.
Nice and caring, tends to get too involved in class debates and frequently argues with other students to prove them wrong. Otherwise she is a fun professor and gives very interesting lectures. However, the class is unstructured and assignments are often unclear. Textbook and attendance are not necessary to pass.
The class itself is inspirational because of the literature. However, the professor was very disorganized, the midterm was our only grade so far and our class is now over. She did not follow the syllabus. IF you like order, I do not recommend this class.
Overall a great professor and will help you when asked for it and explain where errors may come from. The only issue I had was 90% of grades where not updated until two weeks before semester end.
This class was scattered and I cannot recall anything that I have learned due to the cramming of topics. The professor is very nice and understanding of her students but organization and time management is not her forte. I met some interesting people and learned a few things but I honestly feel that what I should have learned, I didn't.
All of my assignments and my final exam were graded only a few hours before the grades were due on the 26th. She did not follow the syllabus whatsoever and I will also add that the two tests we took were the hardest tests I've ever taken. If you like predictability and feedback, I would really not recommend this professor.
Honestly, She was one of the most real professors I have taken at MCC. She inspires you to think outside the box. We had some journals, not too hard. And a Midterm and Final. If you show up to class, and listen to what she has to say and take notes, you will do great on the exams. She will work with you i you reach out. Very understanding Prof.
I love this lady. Super cool. Super chill.
She made me like reading again. Class discussions were good.
Please listen to other students here when they say she does not grade anything and you may get a grade you didn't deserve based on a misunderstanding. She is nice but EXTREMELY disorganized and barely grades anything, so if you have been failing at something, you won't know till it's too late.
Class discussions were the best! Doesnt ask for a lot and doesnt require a textbook. Shes very helpful and understanding.
She is an amazing professor. Although, she tends to be a bit timely with grading things, specifically on blackboard. But she is such an amazing teacher and an amazing person. Shes been through a lot in her life and isnt afraid to be real with you and share her experiences. Shes understanding and a joy to be around. Definitely recommend her!
Overall, she is a good teacher. We didn't have much graded work over the semester. It was three papers and a few quizzes. However, the entire course circled around the topic of arguments. It didn't feel like a typical English course. Our class got off topic numerous times. She seemed to stress our writing such as grammar and especially citations.
This professor is very disorganized. You never get any feed back from your hard work. She claims shell grade your work yet you never see how well or bad you did. Im half way through the semester and have no idea how Im doing. She also Isnt clear especially when it comes to discussions. Avoid!
She is a nice lady, but barely grades anthing, and does not respond to emails
You dont need a book. Wont be able to get ahold of her through the number or email provided. She takes a long time to get back to you. Very nice, not great teacher. Discussions and mini quizzes every week. Takes very long time grading things. Work is super easy. If you dont need feedback shes great.
She will not grade almost anything until the semester is over, even if you email her and she says she will. She said we could rewrite assignments and specially told me I could through email and never opened up the folder to do so.. so lies to students Do not expect her to answer within 24-48 hours. Her assignments are easy if you take the time
Don't take this woman's class, especially remote. She does not respond to emails until weeks later and she does not reply to course messages. You can't get ahold of her. She does not know how to use a computer and will often not post assignments. Her teaching is incredibly confusing and contradictory, and she doesn't grade things until the last min
I appreciated Professor Emigh-Murphy's demeanor and clear expectations, but she is BAD at grading assignments on time. As others have said, she leaves you in the dark regarding your major grades until the last minute. It didn't affect me much since I did well, but I was still worried until I actually got them back. She's nice but very inconsistent.
If you're already a good reader/writer, this course will be easy. All you do is read/respond to various literature. You will not get any feedback from her, and she grades last second. But like I said, if you already know what you're doing, then this course is easy. If you struggle with reading/writing , then I'd stay away from this professor.
Very caring and understanding professor but just dont take her remote class. She is not very online savvy and she doesnt grade a single thing until the end so youll have no idea where you are at most of the semester
Very nice professor who knows and enjoys her subject, but very disorganized with a slew of tech problems. Reading and workload were reasonable, but grading criteria not very clear.
When I took this class it was what I expected Eng 101 to be however she was very disorganized and confusing. Weekly readings and discussions were assigned but she would never let us know about them or put them clearly in BrightSpace. I would do assignments which ended up not even being graded and she took weeks to grade papers.
Horrible attitude, poorly organized, irresponsible, assigns papers on subjects not covered, no rubrics or clear expectations. Avoid at all costs.
Absolutely disorganized. Revisions for chapters 3-8 are due 7/3 and as of 6/29 I've only received 1 grade (with no real feedback) of the 4 written assignments I've submitted in that timeframe. I also asked for help on the 1 that she did grade and she never got back to me. How am I supposed to revise anything when I don't know what I did wrong?!
This Professor claims that you can review the feedback given on your assignments and turn them back in for a better grade. However, she fails to grade any assignments in the time-frame that she gives you. She always posts assignments after she says she will and still has not finished grading when the class ended on July 3rd.
For a communications teacher, she's terrible at communicating. Doesn't check emails, grades last minute, and has zero organization. If she suspects AI, she blindly trusts AI checkers. She doesn't read it, won't hear what you have to say, just failure. Save your money.
A frustrating experience. She communicates via text, not email, and often responds days late. All of which are ironic for a Professional Communications professor. She doesn't grade assignments in a timely manner and never provided the opportunity stated in the syllabus to revise our work. She doesn't seem to care when it's not convenient for her.
She responds to texts extremely late and doesn't open assignments on time.
Lots of assignments but there is no rhyme or rhythm to them. Also none of my assignments were graded until week 11. It is decently easy work if you enjoy writing, there is a lot of writing. There is no structure to the class as a whole but its an easy A.
Avoid at all costs. Terrible at communicating for the online class and grades late.
This professor teaches all of her classes online. She grades extremely late in the semester. She doesn't open up assignments on time. Little to no feedback. Hmmm. Is she working? I'm shocked MCC is ok with this.
