Very good teacher, but will make you work really hard. Just don't ****her off by being rude.
She will definitly take time to help you understand. Explains things well and has a good sense of humor unless you ****her off. There is a lot of work but it pays off to have a lot of practice on problems for tests.
Lot of work and quizzes often. It will pay off...do the homework..ace the quizzes. She is clear in explaining things and is more than happy to help you outside of class. Respect her and she will respect you!
She explains things very clearly. Comes off as mean but really cares about her students succeeding in class. Take her she's a wonderful teacher
She is nice, but can be very strict. I had jury duty & had told her before that I would be missing her class for one day. She gave me a very hard time and hardly let me make up the work. Hard exams, but teaches well. She had a baby about 2 years ago.
extremly clear... very sweet... loves teaching and it shows... if you do all the homework and understand the concepts you will get a high grade 4 sure...
SHe is the very best teacher for 120 in the school. Do what every you can to take her!!
Great teacher, caring person. I have a phobia of math and she is helping me to overcome that. Do the homework and you will be fine. When she says it is time-consuming, believe her! overall she is great though.
good teacher. moves very quickly and SOOOOO MUCH HOMEWORK!
She is such a great teacher. She does whatever she can to help you understand math. She uses really helpful worksheets, and quizzes alot (dropping alot of those low ones to help you!) Really she is interested in you learning. Take her for sure!
She is SO clear, and SO nice. If you need to take stats, take it with her, just do your work and listen to her helpful guidelines and your golden!
I have taken Pam twice already. I got an A in Math 100 and Math 107 with her. Now that I am taking Statistics she explains things in an entirely different way. The class is nearly impossible. She is willing to help but basically during the entire class period it is as if she's speaking another language. I'm failing, and I'm a smart person.
Alright look, shes a really good teacher and very clear but she tends to spend much of her time explaing and has a tendency of falling behind. Lots of HOMEWORK.Take at your own risk!
shes a very enthusiastic teacher. shes just wonderfull. and really helpfull
Guenther is the best! I entered stats thinking I was going to fail, and she made the class fun, interesting, and easy. She can be tuff, but so can everyone sometimes. As long as you perform at your best, she will do her best to help you pass. She doesn't try to trick you, as long as you get the information, thats what matters to her. Best teacher!
Pam is a nice person and a clear teacher. However the book she uses was not helpful at all to me, and she doesn't give any class notes except the example problems in the book. Her teaching style did not work well for me but I liked her and got an A but I had to figure out everything on my own. The math tutors taught me this class.
I really liked this class and had a high B throughout the semester and then for some reason tanked the final. Oh well I passed, shes really nice and i enjoyed the way she taught DO THE HOMEWORK! She also allows a page of notes and note cards on each test and then 2 pages of notes on the final, don't ask how i did bad on the final i just blanked
Ugh! Seemed impossible. I dropped it, didn't want to se myself up to fail. On the first day she gave us a packet to do and over 100 problems from the book. I'm going to take a different route even though I tested into 111 just to avoid her.
Pam's class may seem tough the first week, but I assure you it is worth it. The homework can be lengthy, but it is absolutely neccessary to do it in order to understand the material. Her quizes come right off your homework. Tests are thorough but managable. Hands out great notes at the beginning of every class. Take her if you want to learn!
Although I felt like she didn't like me, the class was easy and interesting enough
Really good teacher, and extremely helpful, if you ever have any questions she always is there during her office hours to help, calc is a hard class, but all homework she assigns makes it a little easier to understand if you actually do it. HINT: do the homework and ask questions and this class will be EASY
TOOK THIS CLASS ONLINE.knew most of it from high school.kind of slacked off in the middle&didnt do homework=bad grade.must be self motivated.must finish hw/quizzes each week to pass!!!!!EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND WOULD GO OUT OF HER WAY TO EXPLAIN IDEAS.AMAZING PROF, SO SO NICE!!!! WOULD DEFINITELYYYYYY RECOMMEND!!!!!! my favorite prof ever!
This is a great teacher, took on-line.I finished before the 6 weeks where up. As long as you do the work and stay up with the lessons you will do fine. I hated math and could not understand algebra until I took this class.
Great teacher really hard to get a bad grade in the class as long as you do the HW which is what your quizzes are on. She spoon feeds you the information so its really easy to understand and you will be ready for 131 after this class
She was amazing!! Shes makes sure everyone understand the information before she moves on. She goes over all homework question & she doesn't care if it takes all class. This class was very hard but she made it interesting. Very nice professor & she is very helpful! I would take her over anyone else!
Pam is encouraging and fun. Late to class often and inconsistent responding to email returning quiz results. 100/107 Immersion class pace is insane. Don't plan on doing anything else. You must do every bit of work and often teach yourself complex concepts. Not for someone that needs their hand held! Quizzes every day. 7-10 pages of H/W every night.
(Online)Pam is extremely nice and really puts forth an effort to help however she often falls short. While her intentions are great there are almost always mistakes on the sample problems and/or there is some vital direction or document missing or incorrect on the weekly assignments. While she is very flexible be prepared to be confused.
Very helpful prof. Hard!
i took the immersion 100/107 program with Pam and yes you have to work hard you must do all the work and you can expect 6-8 hours of homework a day to get the A but Pam gives great instruction and i loved the class this is coming from someone who absolutely hated math in high school. Dont miss a class you're grade will not be good on the next test.
Professor Pam is a fantastic instructor. Very clear instructions and extremely helpful when needed. If anything, she goes too far and oversimplifies the subject sometimes. Do the homework and get to class and you'll do great!
she is very helpful whenever u need her and tries to go at the pace everyone is learning at so no one gets too overwhelmed by the material. in order to do well you need to go to the classes because she gives a quiz everyday. plus you will learn the material better
AMAZING! I hated math my entire life, didn't even finish in high school & went into her immersion 100/107 class terrified, but she totally changed that. She is so motivating, fun, and helpful, and really takes the time to make sure you understand. Immersion is a LOT of work, but I passed both classes with A's and actually enjoy math now! TAKE HER!
She is an awesome teacher very helpful and wants to see you succeed. She will randomly writes quotes to motivate. She will also brings bagel in the middle of semester and at the end. Don't Miss class!! Theres quizzes everyday but it helps you in the end to lessen math anxiety! TAKE HER AND YOU WILL GROW TO LOVE MATH!!! :D
Loved her class. Was able to overcome my mental block to math to get an A. You have to do the work to have a chance and I really don't recommend slacking at all. Took it over the summer online. I literally spent 8 hrs straight doing homework twice a week. But I understood and did well. I'm an English major so addition can be a challenge at times.
cool lady. With that said, the study guides are full of mistakes, most of which are not honest mistakes, but rather a lack of knowledge in the material, either that or she just always is rushing doing it. Lectures are incomprehensible, always disorganized, always having to correct herself. Which is fine, but as a prof..come on...
Pam is a great teacher! I never liked nor understood math until I took her class! shes an excellent teacher that explains everything in detail so there is no excuse for you to not understand! If I could take her again I would! there is a TON of homework but it is for your benefit! she hates grading it as much as you hate doing it. but its worth it!
I was the typical "I hate math" student, but when I took Pam's class it changed my whole perspective. She really knows how to teach math properly and is patient with any questions or concerns that may come up at any time. The homework and studying may be a little time consuming, but totally worth it. She takes note of your hard work. TRUST ME!
Do the work, ask MANY questions, study everyday, and you will pass the class. Pam is patient and you will end up learning more than you thought you would in a math class.
For the fact this was an online class, she taught it very well, however, VERY unreliable about getting the work up on time, it came up at random times on Tuesdays, sometimes morning sometimes afternoon, so if you're one who likes to get it done, then you will have to wait. And grades were never up when she said they would be, not until days after!
Great Teacher!!! Unfortunately, she teaches in a combo Math100/107 which demands a lot of homework. I really wish she only taught one course individually instead of combining the math class. Too much homework and too much information to take in 2 hours a day Monday throu Thursday.
Pam is a great teacher who is always there for her students. She is extremely patient with whatever questions/concerns you might have. She also has a "real life" approach to the material, that makes learning math fun. The homework was a little too much but at the end of the day it will help you! Her review quizzes are also very helpful for exams.
She is really great. I was lucky to have her for Algebra because I'm awful at it.
Great teacher. Wasn't very good at math and I now feel like I can do it.
nice lady, loves factoring on her tests even though its only on mymathlab a little. She demands timeliness yet is very very late on posting grades. Her study guides for exams are not similar to whats actually on exams.
amazing teacher. If you show her you are trying and care she will make sure you pass. Recommend her over all the other math teachers.
Amazing teacher, she really encouraged me and made me feel like I could do it. She has a way of relating the material to you. She is not the easiest teacher but she really wants you to learn. If your trying and committed you will learn a lot.Highly recommended if you plan on going on in math and even not because you might after her class
Professor Guenther was great. She is always clear and very helpful. She pushes you to learn and is very encouraging. I was very motivated in her class.
The class itself is very easy to follow. The publisher's site where all the work is is fantastic. The professor, however, sadly is not. She seems very nice but she is very unorganized and late with everything. Deadlines get extended often because of her lateness and it really screws with the student's routines, and therefore learning!
Professor Guenther is extremely unorganized. She means well, but I would not recommend this class at all. She's late to respond to emails and midterms were pretty difficult. If you get a C or lower on a midterm, you have to work your butt off to pass the class. I liked the online program used, but I'd say avoid this course!
She's one of the best teachers I've had. She explains things in many different way to be sure that everyone with different learning styles understands. She cares about her students. She is slow to reply to emails but you can always use the math lab and go to the TA's office hours. Do your homework, do well on quizzes, and you're good for the tests.
She seems very nice, but she is very unorganized and late with everything. Also, exam are so DIFFICULT she explains things in an entirely different way. The class is nearly impossible. AVOID HER CLASS !!!!!
I took 104 online. I started from Math 4 & worked up so believe me when I say math is my worst subject. I felt like the online class worked REALLY well for me though. You can take the quizzes an infinite amount of times, she drops like 2, & replaces a midterm grade with ur Final if u did better on the final. I passed with a B! just put in effort!
Lets get something straight: I HATE MATH & is my worst subject ever! I passed w/ a 'C'. Prof. Guenther is REALLY EXTREMeLY helpful, is you need help just ask. She host online "in class" session, where she talks to your personally & goes through the steps with you. YOU MUST WORK YOUR ASS OFF, but over all a very good teacher & class.
I came into this course just failing math 100 during the summer semester. Before that I hadn't passed a math class in 6 years!!! I went in expecting to fail or drop, but with hard work and support from Pam, the tutors and those in my class I walked away with an A ,and the piece of mind knowing that I was ready for the next level of Math.
Pam is a great instructor, I highly recommend her if you're interested in taking 100-107. To give you a heads up the combined classes are alot of work and fast pace but she instructs it well and does gives good structured lessons within everyday of class. Hope you like her as much as I did!
Such a nice person. Very helpful if you need it, good availability. Quick to respond to emails. Recommend her.
I took her Math 107 online, and let me tell you it is a lot of hw and time consuming , since its an online class. You go on campus to take 4 exams in total, she does take a long time to grade the exams. Exams are not hard , you just need to do the hw and actually understand it, if you do not, ask for help! HW 2 timesa week and quizzes every week
I passed both math 100 and 107 in one semester and even though it took up a lot of credits and a lot of time in the end it was so worth it. Pam is a really good teacher and cares about your success in the class if you do too. A quiz every day but just from hw. I really recommend this to people that need to get to higher levels of math in less time.
She is such a terrible teacher. She has no idea what she is doing and has no control of her class. She has been known to be manipulative and talk down to her students. I do not understand how she is a teacher at this college. I would not doubt it if she was the one who posted these comments below. Avoid taking her. She is cruel and unprofessional.
I took Math 100/107 with Pam. Before this class, I had taken Math 100 twice and failed both times. I came out of 100/107 with A's in each. Best. Teacher. Ever. She is so beyond helpful and I totally sucked at math. She actually takes the time to explain things to you & you can tell she actually cares about her students. Sad she doesn't teach stats.
Pam is amazing! She is very clear in explaining material and is always there for her students when they are having difficulty on a subject. She answers questions and cares about her student's success. I had never done well in math until I took her class and got an A. There is lots of homework but it is extremely beneficial. Highly recommend!!!
Pam is the best math teacher I've ever had. She's amazing! I was terrible at math before this and would never receive anything higher than a C. Now I have an A in the class and I'm one of the top students in the class. She is very clear and knows so much about math. She is very smart. She makes you work hard but it is worth it.
I took math 95 twice and failed, I decided to try the learning community that includes both math 95 and 100 with Pam. Hands down, the BEST decision I've ever made. I highly recommend taking a course with Pam if given the chance. She makes you work hard for your grade but it definitely pays off in the end. If I can do it, so can you.
Professor Pam Guenther, is respected in her field with high levels of sucees in her classrooms. I would say if you are not an older student who needs a calmer environment, then she is your best bet. I struggled, because I did not have the time required to keep up. She requires a great deal of extra time up to 20 hours a week outside of class.
Pam is AMAZING! Yes, math is hard, yes taking a 10 credit math class is insane. But she is the best teacher at SBCC. CARING, funny, lets you ask questions. There are 4 exams and 2 finals, she does offer extra credit on the test and also "dress rehearsal" for all exams. DO ALEKS, DO THE HOMEWORK and if you're having trouble, TALK TO HER!
Usually wont answer questions about the work in class, strict time schedule. Many hours of homework. I took 107+77, 77 is a support but it was 107 the whole time.
Very tough class. LOTS OF HOMEWORK!! homework doesn't count as your grade but she makes you do it for practice. Tests are extremely hard and the study guides she gives you do not help what so ever, the tests are completely different. Shes a nice person but I do not recommend her for the 107 class. Doesn't explain math well.
If you have a question she makes you use her office hours, wont answer in class. gives at least 2-3 hours of homework A DAY. Exams are very very difficult, nothing like the homework or study guide she gives you. Homework doesn't count for a grade so, if you fail the tests/quizzes, you fail the class. Would not recommend.
Honestly Pam is a really sweet funny person, but unless you have 30 plus hours A WEEK for homework, i do not recommend. Also, this course is not a transferable course so why SBCC makes you take it it beyond me. Pretty hard class not going to lie. If you plan on taking her, you better not be taking any other classes, thats how intense it is.
Pam is a good teacher, she wants people to succeed. I had a hard time keeping up with the homework, some weeks it took me 5 hours+. Her class is very test heavy, even though there is an unbearable amount of homework. I enjoy math, but this class kind of killed it for me.
Pam is the best math teacher ever! Yes, there's A LOT of homework. But it's okay if you don't do all of it, it's only worth 10% of your grade. It's better for you to do as much as you can because Practice Makes Perfect! Pam really wants you to succeed. She is more than welcome to answer questions in or outside of class. You NEED to take her. <3
Math was never my strength. In high school I hated it and barely passed however with Pamela I received an A. It wasnt because the class was a joke or really easy. It was because her teaching style was so well put together. She really loves her job & cares about the students as long as you put in the effort. A few pop quizzes & homework every night
The best professor for me. I took her class in summer session. Although there is a lot of homework, doing them is really helpful for exams.
Im genuinely going to miss my MATH class goes to show how great of a professor she was. Math is a tough subject, specifically stats, so it will require a lot of work- but its for a purpose. Unless you can teach yourself math, take her class. Homework holds little to no weight so its really only for your benefit. Lots of otherways to earn points.
I was very nervous to take Stats due to the fact that math has never been my strong subject. I took Pam for the Math 117 class and she was great! Make sure to study for the exams, do the study guides, and go to the review sessions! I'm very happy that I took stats with her.
COVID left me having to take math online this semester. I picked this teacher for the reviews that were given. I found it really difficult as she rarely graded throughout the semester. I found it frustrating to not even have an up to date grade before the final. She did give extra credit opportunity and lots of review sessions. Be aware of the grad
Underrated prof. I was really worried about doing well in stats, but she gives a ton of opportunities to understand the material if you put in the work, and she is a lenient grader as long as you're trying. Do the optional assignments if you want to do well and take advantage of all of her office hours because she's super willing to work with you.
Prof Guenther is very helpful and her lectures are very clear. Tests and knowledge checks are almost identical to the lectures and homework assignments. Lots of opportunities for EC so look out for those. Gives you the chance to work on knowledge checks with other students, so take advantage of that. Very nice and willing to help!
She's a nice person and offers a lot of office hours and tutoring sessions. She makes it a priority for students to be able to access her/ her students. Lots of homework and lessons can be long. Takes a long time to find out current grade.
I was terrified to take stats cuz I suck at math. I just needed to pass and Pam was the best math professor I've had. The video lectures are clear. Just watch all the videos, do the online hw and written hw and u should be fine. Go to tutor sessions if u need help and study the review work sheets for exams. u have to work for it but it's reasonable
Math has never been my strong suit considering I am number dyslectic but Professor Guenther made statistics very understandable. She is amazing, take her!
Professor Guenther is great! She really wants her students to learn and to succeed, and is available for questions either by email or zoom. There is a lot of homework but it isn't hard, and she offers extra credit at the end of the semester. Definitely take her class!
She is the best! She wants all her students to be successful; her note packets and lecture styles make it very easy to understand the material. She offers extra credit at the end of the semester and gives students a chance to do exam corrections. Homework amount is nothing too crazy- she's kind, funny, and relatable which makes the class enjoyable.
Math is something I am still terrible at. But without professor Guenther I would definitely have failed the class. She really cares about her students to pass the class and is very easy to contact outside of class.
Took hybrid MATH117 and it was the worst class I've taken. Assignments consisted of solely teaching yourself the lessons online through interactive required videos that were all 3-5 parts and 15-25 minutes long each, and in class you did a couple review questions and then a test. I do not know one student who knew what was going on the entire time.
Prof. Guenther is really awesome. I am not a math person so I was really intimidated with math. She will give you all the help you need in class or her office hours. She really cares about you!! Lots of homework but worth it. I feel like I can do math now. Tests are hard but the homework really prepares you. If you need math TAKE Guenther
You will not be taught. Lectures will cover very basic material with minimal explanations. Weekly "quizzes" of 90 minutes, 3 major exams + final Exam questions are nothing like homework or lecture. Good luck.
Good teacher who spent a lot of time to teach the material well. Very strict policy for quizzes and tests, no make-ups even if you had a doctor's note or otherwise acceptable excuse, even though she missed multiple herself. The lowest two quizzes would be dropped and the final replaced one lower exam score. Labs graded very easily as well.
I enrolled in her summer Math 117 course & I am shocked at these reviews. There were usually 10 assignments every day that were due before noon, I was fully prepared to insert sc's but RMP doesn't allow. I spent about 7 hours just completing the work & studying before rinsing & repeating the next day. Take this as a fair warning to spare yourself.
Very good teacher and was good at keeping class engaged. If youre taking the hybrid thinking itll be easier you are wrong. Its a lot of outside homework but you need to do your work because those and the in class activities are your only notes for quizzes. Do yourself a favor and actually do them!
If you are bad at math, take this class with Professor Guenther. I have failed/barely passed every math class before this one. She explains the material clearly and consistently to help you understand dense and long-stats problems. she is also very caring and will listen to your problems and does her best to accommodate you.
If you take the Math117 statistics class over summer, please dig your own grave beforehand. This is one of those classes where when the teacher says "you will have hours of work per day"... you actually have hours of work every day. Each day is quite literally 7 hours worth of homework packets, videos, and quizzes. RIP future Math117 students.
overall great teacher who was very helpful with anything people needed and knew how to explain clearly in a way everyone can understand
DO NOT TAKE MATH 137,137c. You will realistically have to spend 24+ hours a week on homework (21hrs expected) Attendance is mandatory, 2.5hr class, where she only covers homework you already did and then quizzes you, possibly multiple times. ALL LECTURES ARE ONLINE, require notes you pay for, and are not considered homework. Potentially a scam!?
VERY GOOD TEACHER!! Prof Guenther cares about her students and genuinely wants them to understand the material. She answers every email quickly, and is always more than willing to help!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO SPEND MINIMUM 5 HOURS A DAY ON HOMEWORK!!! This professor assigns a one hour lecture, online and textbook homework problems every other day. If you take Math 137 during the summer with Ms. Guenther, you will be spending ALL of your time on homework and studying for a test where get ONE notecard as a cheatsheet
I took this class online over the summer for a better grade and was very overwhelming than what I was able to handle. 24 Hours / week. Literally, it will require at least 24 hours. Because of the extravagant amount of homework, class work, and notes required, I dropped it. Having taken 137 before, I'll say, this was tough.
Prof. Guenther is a great professor who has a lot of experience and care for teaching. She explained material in a very concise and clear manner. Office hours were consistently available as well as other resources. You will have to work very hard and spend lots of time on these classes (117 and 137), but for me it was worth it.
This professor is very caring and provides you with many resources. This class was however very challenging and required tons of at home online lectures that required notes took forever to complete, classtime was spent going over problems so that we could better understand them which was very helpful.
Ms.G is one of the best teachers I've had the fortune to have. She gives off "caring mom energy". She is hilarious and keeps our 8 am class engaged. I struggled in her class due to mental health challenges, leading to NP. She was understanding and nonjudgemental in responding and welcoming me back to retake. She will challenge you- Be challenged.
She is brilliant at what she does, and if you want a top tier Professor who is an absolute delight to be around, look no further. Goes way above and beyond always, and if you follow her instruction you will pass. Is also huge on the science of learning, such as methods for retaining information and that is a huge bonus that carries over into life
Prof. Guenther is a dedicated teacher who really cares about her students. The class is challenging, but her clear explanations and available resources like Unstuckstudy make it manageable. Put in the work, and you'll gain a solid understanding of the material.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are always clear, and she takes the time to make sure you truly understand the material. I've seen a few reviews claiming she assigns too much homework, but honestly, she doesn't. As long as you have a bit of work ethic, you'll do great in her class
I LOVED Pam. You can tell she truly cares about her students. I have never done well in math, but I succeeded under her guidance. There is a lot of homework but I can tell it actually helped me, and it wasn't just busy work. She drops your lowest quiz score, and your lowest test score which helped me a lot, she allows a notecard on tests at well.
Mrs.G is such a kind professor. Her guided notes are so helpful, encouraging her students to go to office hours to ask questions. Sometimes homework packets can be thicker than usual, so it's better to go to office hours or the math lab. I definitely recommend doing those online quizzes; big help. Overall I loved her and I will take her again. ,
