She definitely knows her stuff. Most found her tests extremely difficult, but if you just study the things on her review sheet they are okay. She really knows her stuff and at least tries to be entertaining. ALot of people thought she was too difficult in her grading. I got an A but would ave to agr
She has bad testing skills. In class she will lecture you and expect you to read the bood before class, but she will never apply the teaching. She test on application, but does not show how to apply it. I wasn't to content with her class. I am an "A" student and I worked hard to get a "C"
I had her for BIO 181 and she was intertaining but her voice is very difficult to stand for longer than an hour. She's a good professor though, that's why I'm in her 201 class now.

She seems to have a disdain for any student who isn't a brainiac and doesn't really like answering too many questions when students ask. She has quizzes every week, but doesn't really give you advance notice. Her tests don't go along with the source material. She also tends to pull info from previous classes for tests (Bio 181, Chm 151). Too loud.
She is well organized in lecture and lab. If you understand and learn the material from her lecture notes, you will do very well in her class. You do need to put a lot of time in if you expect an A. Her tests are long and challenging. Very helpful if you are you have an interest in her class.
Mrs Harrison is a tough but amazing teacher. She is always willing to help her students. She's one of the hardest teachers I've had but the best at that. Her test are completely on her notes which she gives us, many who don't know that don't do well on the exams. I would refer anyone to her for bio201. You must be willing to study hard though!
I found Pam to be a good teacher. She only seems to be a lil socially awkward at times when talking 1-on-1. The material for the class was tough, no matter who's teaching. If u want to pass you have to put in the time to study! There are online quiz's every week but all the answers r in the notes u can print off. Use notes, ask ?'s, u will do fine!
I had her for both 181 and 201. She is one of the hardest teachers I have had, but I think I know the material really well because of that. She can seem a little abrasive at times. Overall, I'm a better student for having had her.
Her lectures are well organized & she provides notes, although they do not follow the organization of the text. Her lecture exams are difficult & she does not provide study guides. If you want to get an A you really have to study. The lab exams are much easier - they carried my grade. She has office hours which is unusual for adjunct faculty.
Her notes are pre-written, clear, organized, and she only tests on her notes. Lecture quizzes are online & open book. Her lecture tests are moderately challenging. She uses many anologies in lecture which helped me visualize the processes. She is willing to help as much as possible and walk you through dissections
She was great. Difficult class, but expectations were stated. No surprises, great explanations, and good teacher. Wish I could say the same for my 202 instuctor.
not only is this the hardest i have EVER had to study for a class, but it's the first class i've ever gotten an F in let alone anything lower than an a. she is really nice and knowledgable..but explinations aren't clear at all, and the tests are so so so so difficult
The class was difficult. Aced the lab, but struggled with lecture. Very dry at times, and sometimes unclear. She helped with any questions asked. Quizzes online are easy. Its a tough class with whoever teaches, but I enjoyed it. Time to study is NEEDED!!!
Lec tests multiple choice, T/F. Lab tests fill in the blank. Lab quizzes are easy. Lec quizzes online- open book. No hw, just lots of time to study!! Show up to class, takes roll and you earn points just by showing up. Only extra credit is a couple questions on each test, so if you want a good grade you have to WORK for it. Loved the class!
Professor Harrison is an excellent instructor. Remember, this is a Science course. It requires a lot of effort and self study. Professor Harrison does a lot for helping with review sessions and providing information. To get an A requires a lot of studying. It is common for a majority of people to fail the exams... Work hard, Good Luck
She is a pretty clear professor but does not take into consideration that her students have a life outside of BIO 201. She's not very flexible with her students and gives no mercy. If youre up for a challenge go for it but I would reccomend sparing yourself and chosing a professor who can put themselves in the students shoes.
Most difficult class I ever had at MCC. Tricky tests, no curve. Class avg usually around 58 on exams. She just read her lecture notes to us during lecture. About half of the class ended up dropping.
Good teacher. Style: dry, but helpful. Her voice/pace are a little hypnotic so you need to make an effort to attend. Her tests are difficult, but not horrible if you study. She has great organization and in a 5-week session, she taught an impressive amount of material.
If you have no life and you want something to do, then taking this class is for you! If you want a life and want contact with the outside world then DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She shows no mercy!
IF U HAVE NOT HAD ANY BACKGROUND IN HUMAN ANATOMY do not take her class... i study so much and still fail... not a good teacher...Super fast pace!
Intense, hard class, Pam is wonderful!!! If you put in the time she will work with you. Very nice, hard class great teacher!!!!!
If you think, going into any anatomy class, that it is going to be easy and no work is required than you are extremely mistaken. Dr. Harrison is a great teacher as long as you keep up with ALL of your work and take the time to study study study. Don't expect her to be easy on you, she wants you to learn the material.
Very helpful and clear expectations.
This is a difficult class, with lots of material to understand and memorize, so no teacher can make it easy. But she is very organized and clear about what you need to know and do. She gives lots of chances to earn points and her test questions are always clearly worded. She gives a lot of helpful clues such as mnemonic aids for memorization.
Dr. Harrison is great. I recommend her to anyone who needs to take BIO201 or BIO202. Very well organized and crystal clear on what you need to do to excel in her class. She gives exams based off her lecture notes and gives out study guides for the lab practicals. Put in the required time and you'll get an A! Very helpful as well!
She comes off a little rough at first but she's great!! She gives you lecture notes, everything on the test are in the notes!! Easy A. Her practicals are extremely easy.
Anatomy is HARD no matter how you look at it. BUT Her voice and tone: OMG!!!! so hard to stand for 90 mints. She enunciates every word's 2nd syllable and yells out the last word of every sentence. Her tests are ALL on application but she DOES NOT lecture on application, she lectures on facts and her notes and quizzes are on facts. STUDY ON YOUR OWN
She is probably your best bet for anatomy. 1) she tells you what is going to be on practicals so you don't study useless information you're going to throw out anyway..(she doesn't tell you that)2)Very organized. Some people don't like her voice in lecture, but the attendance pts are worth it! Quizes are out of book! I passed 1st try! 74%! I liked he

You can get an A in this class if you are willing to put in the time. She's well organized and the tests are right off of her power point notes.I only read 1 or 2 of the chapters and got A's and B's on all of the tests. Lab practicals are also easy if you just put in some time studying. It's a lot of work, but you will get an A if you try hard.
TOOK THIS CLASS BASED ON PRIOR COMMENTS, DON'T KNOW WHAT PPL WERE THINKING. TESTS ARE VERY TRICKY, WORDS ARE TWISTED, INSTUCTOR VERY HARD, TESTS HARD, PRACTICALS ARE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER INSTRUCTORS. DONT EXPECT TO HAVE A LIFE IF YOU ENROLL IN THIS CLASS. READ THE BOOK, AND EXPECT TO BE FOOLED & FALL ASLEEP IN CLASS. EXPECT TO FAIL.
Anatomy is a tough class but this instructor makes it harder than it needs to be. DO NOT enroll in her class unless you are forced to; half of the class is falling asleep and the other half doesn't know what she is saying. If you can understand someone talking in circles, enroll, if not, run far fast!
Avoid this instructor
class average very low, alot dropped, no life outside this class, very hard, tests are tricky, read all of these ratings before enrolling
Currently enrolled in her bio 201 class and this being my 3rd time taking it there is alot of points you can get for doing very little such as the lecture quizzes are at home open book she gives you the whole class period to study for lab quizzes. However lecture tests are super hard twisted and very confusing Lab practicals are easy. Hard class!
IDK what most ppl are talking about. I'm taking her class now and she is waaaay better then my last instructor. Gives lecture notes and material taught is clear and she makes it so you are able to undertand! Just read, study, and do the work!
good instructor. just come to class, pay attention, take notes. she provides the notes online so you can print them off rather than having to write it all down. if you don't like this instructor its probably because you don't like the material and/or studying
I loved Pam! She gives you lots of chances to earn points and posts helpful material on her blackboard site. If you actually study you will do fine in her class.
Great teacher! As long as you attend and study, she makes the material easy to learn. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This Class requires a LOT of studying to get an A. Be prepared to teach yourself the material. Dr. Harrisons Lectures consist mostly of her reciting her lecture notes that you can easily print from webct. She does give participation points so it makes going to lecture pretty much mandatory.
Dr. Harrison is a lovely professor. She is strict on deadlines but is willing to help with any questions you may have. She posts her lecture notes, lab presentations, etc. on WebCT so utilize those! At-home quizzes are open note. Practicals are easy if you study hard. Lecture tests are really difficult though. If you study you should succeed :)
Oam is a great instructor. Always willing to answer questions. Lecture notes are online so you can print them off. THis class requires a lot of study time but she gives you ever tool to succeed!
she's a very nice instructor, i love her, she's helpful and she explain everything so good. the class itself is hard but if you go each class day and study take notes study the power points you'll do fine. there are power points that you can print and study. she give you study guid for final, there are 10 points each lab.
This is the hardest Professor at MCC for A&P. I got an 86% in Bio201 while studying 5 hours a day. Lec exams are based on Application and not on facts, though her study guides and lectures are all fact based. Labs were easy, and practicals were cake if you studied because she didn't make the test. I got a 96% in Bio202 from another Prof. avoid!
This class is a lot of work. There are multiple quizzes a week...fairly easy. Lab is easy but requires you stay the entire 3 hours to "study." Lectures are fact based while the tests focus on the application of terms and processes.EXTREMELY frustrating because the learning objectives do not match the material that is tested. Cumulative final!!!! :(
Labs are easy if you attend you will get the points. Lab practicals aren't difficult as long as you study the material. Lectures are long and boring. Lecture tests are extremely difficult, worded tricky. Participation points aren't guaranteed with attendance & active involvement. Would not recommend.
Pam will make you work for an A, on lecture exams in particular you really have to know how the various body systems work. Don't just study facts. She comes across as hard line, but is friendly and helpful in 1 on 1 situations. Don't plan on 100% on participation for getting an A. I had perfect attendance and did not get 100%, not sure why...
You have to attend all of lab and all of lecture to get all of the material. Her lectures are pretty boring. You could go the semester without a book because everything is based off her slideshows (which are available on Canvas). Do not recommend, unless you have no other classes or no job, and have 4 hours a day to put towards studying.
All the lecture notes are online available to be printed out. The notes are exactly what will be discussed during lecture. Must attend every lecture and lab in order to pass. Participation and lab reports are easy points to really help you grade since exams and practicals are tough if you don't study.
Amazing teacher! Giving credit where credit is due. Clear lectures, audio of lectures always available online too. Make sure you stay on top of all online quiz, they're easy points but easy to forget due dates when balancing a full schedule. Wish I was taking her for 202.
She is tough. Her lectures are bearable, but don't miss them or lose participation pts. DO NOT miss lab, you will suffer for practicals, which are very hard and she gives lab pop quizzes, but you can anticipate them. Her lecturepwrpt. Notes are your best friend for tests. DO NOT miss online lecture quizzzes-NO makeups. Must work very hard for an A.
little extra credit don't miss online quizzes and study a lot!!!!! no grades on a curve
Pamela is an ok instructor. She gives a lot of pop quizzes, almost one every week, but she gives you time in lab to study for them on the day of. Make sure you are actually looking over the material otherwise you won't pass, but it is a biology class so that is expected. A textbook is optional in my opinion. I never open mine.
She records her lectures and she has videos for some things in the lab portion of the class, it is super helpful to re-listen to lectures, all her tests are from her lecture notes. This is a bio class it does take a lot of work. She does have participation points so show up for class and there r pop quizzes in the lab but you can see them coming.
Her lecture exams are hard, Practicals are easy if you study. Her lectures are long but she does record them and post them on canvas; exams are based on lecture power points not the book. She will help you if you have any questions and she is also nice about it. Her final was brutal. Overall just don't miss class, do online quizzes, and study.
It's biology, so of course there is going to be lots of memorization, and that definitely happens in this class and the lab that goes with it. Her lectures involve almost entirely powerpoint, but she does divert sometimes to elaborate on a topic or explain the real-world application of the course material. Class is boring, but she knows her stuff.
This class was the hardest class I have ever taken. She will not baby you, it is up to you to take this class into your own hands and work for the grade you want. Pamela knows her stuff and she is great at teaching it, but her lecture quizzes are unnecessarily worded tricky. I put in four hours outside of class just to study and passed with a B.
Lectures are mandatory, because she gives pop quizzes so you won't miss. Her lecture notes and study guides are nothing like test. The test are worded hard and meant to confuse you! Lastly, she does not allow you to leave early in lab. She makes you remember ALL the lab procedures for the week along with all models for the lab test, which is ALOT!
She never lets you leave early in lab either which is annoying if you want to study. He lectures are very dry. Her power points have no pictures and she reads straight from the power point. Also she makes you buy the textbook without option as well as an access code thats $100 just for quizzes which she could so through canvas for free like my 201.
Power-points had no pictures. On canvas she was very unorganized, she didn't have the notes online that we could print out to study and her lecture notes were a mess. She didn't indent and it was nearly impossible to follow. Also on canvas, her lessons were all mixed with random files. Also, her test are nothing like study guide.
I love that she uses real world analogies, so you get a better idea of the material. It's about accumulating points, so make sure you do all the online quizzes. I barely read the text because she gives you a study guide for the lecture exam. She does give some extra credit. 10 lab quizzes. 4 lecture exams. 4 lab practicals. 3 homework assignments.
One of my favorite professors for BIO 201 and 202. You put in the effort for this class. Stay on track with homework and lectures, and take time to study- especially for exams and practicals. She knows what she is talking about, and extremely nice. I wish I could take her as I continue to ASU. LOVE HER!!!
She seems to know her stuff when she gives lectures, but she doesnt do a good job answering questions. Her tests are nothing like her study guides or lectures. She intentionally uses difficult wording to confuse you on exams. Class averages for tests were consitently low ds and fs, even though most of the students studied 6+ hours a week.
Pamela keeps you engaged and prepares you for the future. Her class is very organized and is graded fairly. The class itself is difficult, but Pamela sets you up to succeed, all you have to do it put the work into it (which required a lot of studying).
Harrison is AWESOME! I retook BIO 201 with her and I'm happy I did. She provides lecture notes & summarizes them beautifully from the book. She's very clear on what to study for & not a tough grader. A&P is a difficult class in general but she's very helpful and caring. I loved her so much I'm taking BIO 202 with her next semester.
Her bio 202 is the hardest class I have taken. This is a good class if you dont have a job or kids and have extra time to study for three hours a day. The tests are all multiple choice. The lab is set up in a way that gives you no time to study the models for practicals. She talks for the majority of lab and takes away from self study time.
She is a great teacher for anatomy! The class is SO difficult but she goes above & beyond to keep you organized & provides summarized notes so you don't really have to use the textbook. she records her lectures for you & posts pre-lecture screencasts. of course you need to show up to understand, give yourself a lot of time to study study STUDY!
If your learning style is having-PowerPoints-read-to-you-with-no-further-explanation youve come to the right place.
You will need to teach yourself all of the info for A&P. Lectures arent helpful but required she trails off/doesnt complete thoughts & reads the PPT. She doesnt answer ?s well, esp in person - email is a tiny bit better. Study HER notes. Do your best dissecting them bc they arent meant to be read like a book. Overall, would NOT recommend.
This class is hard by itself but the Prof is awesome. Shes not strict like someone here said. She is cool.
Lecture feels like a chore because all she does is drone on reading off the power point in a monotone voice. The notes she provides are not really helpful, so be prepared to take your own. Lab could be cool, if it weren't for the fact that she makes you memorize 1000 things and hits you with the "there will be a quiz on this next lab".
Bio 201 is not easy specially lecture, but this teacher helps you a lot. The lab book you rarely use with her, she doesn't care for the pre lab or none of those things. You may use the lab manual couple of times but that's it. Lecture exams are kind of hard but if you do study a lot you would do fine. Practicals on the other hand are so easy.
This teacher gives you all the lecture notes so you aren't struggling to write it all down during lecture. She makes her expectations and assignments clear. Also makes it very clear what to study for her tests; study the notes and your will be just fine. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Great teacher. Taking her for 202.
I took this professor in Spring 2019. She is very organized, gives you everything you need to know for the exam in both the notes and study guides, and provides many opportunities for credit. She is also very responsive and approachable for questions. Also links all her lectures to podcasts on her page which helped to listen to before an exam!
Very bad! She will not help you in lab, when you ask her she will just take the scope from you and do it herself. She will not guide you. She takes all her time to sit back and relax while you do all the work, even if you don't know. She is not helpful with learning. Do not take!
Knowledgeable, but very disorganized with the formating of the class. She'll never skip a day, you still have to go to lab before lecture exams. Too much learning by yourself. If you study you will pass but she is not to be relied on for your grades. Powerpoint on canvas is just a guideline, the one she uses in class is not available to you.
I definitely recommend taking this course, but NOT with this professor. Expect to have to teach yourself the material. She does not upload powerpoints and she does not provide reviews. You are expected to know up to 5 chapters of material which she will not teach you. She will not be very reachable nor will she be very accommodating.
Don't take her. She will hold you back. You will have to learn all by yourself. She doesn't help one bit. She just walks around the lab and when you ask her she says one word and runoff. If you struggle in any way with BIO, do not take her. She doesnt care about your effort or you trying. She wants people to fail so she can say the class is hard.
Professor Harrison is by far the best instructor I have had thus far in my college career. At first she seems intimidating and scary but as long as you respect her she will respect you. I truly believe you get out what you put in with her class. I have the most respect and couldn't have had a better instructor for how heavy the class load is.
Im only 1 month into taking this class and she is by far the worst teacher I've ever had in college. Her lectures and notes don't help at all so get ready to teach yourself the material. She's all over the place with her monotone lectures and they become extremely confusing. I really enjoyed AP until her. Exams feel like they're made to trick you.
My 3rd Bio class, Pamela was by far the worst. I enjoy BIO but her exams resemble exams you take to be certified in a medical field. They are scenario based questions, critical thinking. Which is great but not for a community college? I am here for my prerequisite grade for grad school. MCC is a base to learn from. Her canvas is so scattered too!
This is my 2nd rating for this professor this year. I have 4 weeks left with her and all I can say is DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Don't even bother studying for lab practicals because she tests you on things you spend the least amount of time on. Of the 150 flashcards I studied for, about 8-10 were on the test. The worst prof. at MCC hands down.
This class is already hard but this professor makes it harder. Her lecture quizzes are a lot of critical thinking and the lab practicals are not just labeling. She does provide extra credit which can help a bit. For the lectures you have to watch her videos and take quizzes and for the labs you have to do an assignment or a quiz. Study a ton.
Disorganized. We had a lecture exam on a Tuesday, the following week on Thursday we had our last lab practical, while finishing our last lecture for Development which also ties into the final of everything we learned in class DUE TUESDAY. Three huge exams in a period of almost two weeks. That is absolutely ridiculous. Its not an AP BIO PAM. Relax.
You'll spend hours on this class - lecture is hard to follow. Provides study guides, mini quizzes online & notes and lecture videos th@ collectively have all the info you need If you do really well on her practicals youll stay afloat. Didnt have a good time in this class, it was unorganized & super stressful Don't recommend taking this with Micro:)
You get what you get with a professor from a dead end community college. Teaching was absolutely horrendous, taught useless little information, but little on the actual information needed (how many sec. for p interval). Should've taken this with my professor at ASU, but I decided to take the cheap professor. Should've taken the loan.
RUN!!!!
I'm sure she's a very nice person outside of the classroom. Her lecture exams are nearly impossible to pass with an A. She's definitely one of the most difficult instructors I've ever had. Listen to the reviews! I should have.
Dr. H is the best teacher I have ever had. If she sees that you are trying, she does her best to help you out. Easily the most knowledgeable person about pretty much anything I've ever met, and will even recite 21 Pilots in class! Show up for lecture and you'll be ok. If you are someone who learns well kinetically and visually, she's your teacher.
My favorite teacher I've ever had. She knows her stuff inside and out, and if you're actually trying to learn, she'll see and support you 100%. Lectures are amazing, important, and sometimes she recites 21Pilots during! If you're a kinetic and visual learner, she's the teacher for you. Pretty lenient with grading if you explain your situation.
I attended every class and studied a lot, but many of the topics were not clearly taught or included on the tests. She also hovered a lot during class which made me uncomfortable asking questions. Lab was easier with studying. She is nice but clearer teaching and better exam preparation would help. Overall, I would not retake this professor.
