She is totally stuck in the 80's, but is super easy.
Easy A for me. Everything she taught was very clear and didn't have any problem
knows her material but has NO IDEA how to teach it to others. HORRIBLE.

Easy class, but sometimes she doesn't know the correct information or instructions for the topic(sometimes she has to run to ask another professor what to do). Easy class if you take the class with someone who knows something about computers.
She was not a bad teachr, though she was a bit smug. The classes she teaches are so easy.
doesnt really seem to know much of anything about what she is teaching. often just kind of sat there in a daze, especially while subbing in other classes, gave away the answers to the midterm.

Rarly knew what she was doing, did not have ANY grasp on the material...i knew how to use MS Word more than she did...how did she get her job?
She doesn't have any idea WHAT she assigns, WHAT she said, HOW to help you. BLAH! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Mrs. Kalmar is one of the best computer science instructors i've had. All you have to do is hand in the work. she even gives you a second chance on the homework. Her test are take home usually.

This instructor knows how to teach a computer class. A lot of the work is hands on. Her test are usually take home. She was very helpful. I had some unexpected circumstances come up and she showed me that she does have a big heart!
I knew nothing about a computer. I was very imtimidated by it. Mrs. Kalmar was very patient and helpful in helping me understand what I could do with the computer. I would highly recommend her to anyone!!

I was already well versed in QBASIC so class was EASY for me. Kalmar is a nice person, however somewhat tedious in her lectures - had to work to stay awake. However, easy grader even if you've never used QBASIC before.
She is unorganized, rarely remembers what she says or assigns. She talks to the students like we all are idiots regardless of our computer experience. Avoid this instructor if you can-If you can't, keep a detailed history on what she says and assigns.

I agree she is terrible, i have used computers all my life, going into the final project i had 100% in the class, i turned in the last assignment, checked my grades, i had a B, the ONLY thing i can assume is that she lost the disc containing my final
She is scatter brained or something. I would get lost in her instruction because she talked to herself half the time...plus, she is totally stuck in the 80's. 6 ponytails and everything. My favorite..the black tights with the white dress shoes.

Lectures without actually knowing what she is talking about. I question her qualifications for teaching any CSC. Good luck finding her outside of class. Only a easy class for computer literate. If need programming experience take CSC 270.
Mrs. Kalmar is a very patient and thoughtful person. I knew nothing about programming! After this QBASIC class, I've decided to take her VB.NET class. I can actually program!!SHe made it very interesting.
I don't like her. She doen't explain very well and she basically does the book word for word. She gives out the assigments at her lesure (can't work ahead of class. If you know what your doing, then it's way to easy. Should be a 100 level class.
Too easy, won't let you work ahead. I would have been finished in the class in the first week, probably.
Easy class but if you've made it here DO NOT TAKE IT--TEST OUT! She seems uninterested in teaching this basic course. Just wants the check.
I like Pam Kalmar for a teacher. She gives you many chances in getting your work done. Her tests are very fair. We went by the book, but that was cool! That's why we buy books.
B+? More than likely but it's easy, and sometimes too much so. Keep up with the homework and do good on review sheets and you'll walk with an A. Don't believe the hype!
This was my first high level programming experience. She made it fun.....and easy! What else is there....you learn, have fun and get an A! TAKE HER if you want a good grade!
Umm... skatterbrained. Unorganized. Loses things... but you get a B+ or an A, depending on her mood!! Really easy if you do the assignments, so i would recommend if you know something about computers.
kalmar is one of the better computer science instructors that i have taken. Take her if you would like to learn something new............Homework is resonable..........
Doesn't teach anything! I only came to class to earn points for showing up. Horrible and rude teacher. She loses your grades all the time, very frustrating when you spend 8 hours on a final project, and she forgets to put the grade in her book! Don't take any classes with her, you'll be sorry!!!
This teacher is very spaced out all the time. She acted like she was on drugs sometimes, and dressed like a hippie. She knew nothing about how to operate a Unix system. I knew more than she did. If you are serious about school dont take her, but if you want a easy A she is the way to go.

I thought i knew everything i needed to know about computers. The basics. But, ms. kalmar showed me that there are many things that i did not know. She is very understanding and will give you the grade you deserve@!

She is very flexible when it comes to assignments are her exams are a breeze. Overall, a nice lady but not too great of a teacher. Extremely easy, but I didn't learn anything new!
Ms. kalmar taught the class on how to use the unix o.s. She was very knowledgable. You want compassion? prof. kalmar has a heart! Take her if you would like to succeed in the computer science area!
Not only is she completely incompetent, but she won't listen to students. Her students teach her more than she teaches the students. She's rude and comes across like she is better than everyone else. If you want to take a computer class I highly recomend Q. Galerneo!
She is one if the worst teachers I've ever had. Her idea of teaching is simply reading a power point. She gives no new information and doesn't go in depth at all. Her assignments are more difficult than they need to be, since she didn't teach anything. She also never grades them on time, and isn't in her office when she's supposed to be.
Very disappointed. She responded to 1 out of 8 emails.IT WAS AN ONLINE CLASS! Syllabus was very unprofessional. I'm knowledgeable in computers & found this class misleading to say the least. Keep records and receipts of ALL emails and assignments. Don't buy the book. Check it out 4 2 hrs at a time at the library + ITS computers on 2nd floor=free
she didn't help us keep track of our assignments and i still don't know what i got in the class and it's been done for almost 2 months! the book was a waste of money (we didn't use it once). the assignments are really easy. basically, show up for almost every class and you're assured an A.
I hated her class, she doesn' t know what she is talking about and she doesn't care about her students. I didn't learn anything in her class. She shows up 15 minutes late every class period and we she finally shows up to class she is not going to help you or anyone else in the class. She is the worst professor I have ever had so far.
She is not smart at all, she doesn't explain anything. This teacher was outsmarted at least once by every single person in the class. You can tell she doesn't want to be in class. Doesn't answer questions at all.
This professor was horrible. Her correspondences were inarticulate and unprofessional, with poor grammar and little punctuation. Her final exam had several poorly worded questions, which force the student to guess as to what she's actually looking for. U of M - Flint should think twice about what this professor is doing for its image. HORRIBLE!!!
This class was completely unchallenging, the prof didn't seem to be very knowlegable in her subject, she was unorganized, not really very helpful, and boring. The worst professor I've ever had.
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. She clearly does not want to teach and offers nothing to a U of M education. Does not answer questions and has the attitude that she is above everyone in the room. Tests are a joke- she hands out the answers, tells you to memorize them, then you are tested the next week. Waste of money and time.
Online course, set up poorly. Expectations were not clearly listed. No clear syllabus, course was very unorganized. She did not respond promptly to emails and had no real desire to help.
kalmar is one of the better teachers in the computer science area! She is easily to please, but does stress on attendance. She will go out of her way to help you succeed.
After day one, easily the worst professor I have seen in my life. As a student with a 3.9 average that is willing to learn, this instructor is more concerned with IMs to her friends than teaching a class or answering questions. Cannot wait for the end-of-class evaluation to let Delta know how horrible she is. Take any other professor if possible.
Never taken an online class before and if Kalmar is an example of online instructors, I NEVER will again! E-mailed questions get a basic general answer. One time I asked a question response she didn't have her book with her! Why even bother to answer if you don't have your book. Worse teacher. If it wern't for my tutor, would have failed. 3.8+ GPA
1st online class, will never take another if Kalmar represents the status que! Doesn't help via e-mails, general answers. If it hadn't been for my tutor (middle of the semester) I would have flunked! Got a C, have a 3.8+ GPA.
SHe is a cool instructor! Very easy to understand and knows what she is doing as far as showing others how to program in VB.NET. I would highly recommend her to anyone.!

She doesn't email back quickly; when she does it is with very general answers. Luckily she has an assistant who emails back.
She answers emails slowly and gives vague answers if at all. She has an assistant that will answer emails quickly.
sHE is a great instructor on-line and in the classroom. she answers her emails within an appropriate time frame. So i do not know what you other students are talking about! SHE COOL
Excellent on-line instructor. There were due dates but she was very flexible. I would recommend to anyone to take kalmar for on-line classes.
Teacher was slow to respond to emails, in some cases never respond. Was upset that I didnt purchase the book for the class when it was a basic windows class and there was no need for the book.. I understand these professors get a kickback from the book sales.
Does not email back quickly and only gives vague answers. Talked to her about and assignment once and she was not very nice. Would not take her again if I don't have to. Her homework and tests were okay.

Very good instructor! She is understanding and very helpful. Even though this class is on-line, you can communicate with her through email. She always answers her emails. The class was great for learning Access!
This instructor's 128 class on-line was great! it's a 3 credit and we were not swamped with assignments. Best of all there were no tests! Take ms. kalmar, she's the best
I took this class and BOY was it easy. Maybe it's because I was already skilled in the programs that we used, but it was easy. What she wants in assignments is very clear and concise. Just do the assignments and you'll pass.
This course taught me a lot about excel. Ms. Kalmar was very understanding about every day living problems we encounter. This is one of the best instructors I've had out of all the Computer science instructors. Take her if you want to succeed.

Online class, worst one I have ever take, the responses to my emailed were slow and not very helpful. Grading was unclear, I've taken many online classes and none were ran as bad as this one.
Her assignments aren't always clear. DO NOT buy the book, you won't need it. Class is quite easy as it is an intro class and if you have any experience in it you will do well. She is very friend and willing to help students.
I thought the teacher was actively involved in the online classroom setting. she responded to emails in a few hours. the assignments were challenging.
The class overall was fairly easy. Professor Kalmar was not very specific in her assignments and was slow to reply via email. She was willing to help you although make sure you do the assignments way in advance because it takes a while for her to respond. Not impressed.
Does not follow syllabus. If your program works you get an A, if one thing is wrong she will not grade it until its 100% correct. Do not expect any help from her. And ALWAYS bring your book to class.
This teacher is definitely quirky, she won't allow anyone to wear perfume/cologne because it gives her a headache (understandable though) she is very laid back and go with the flow, can be good and bad but I have enjoyed the 2 online and 1 in-class classes with her. She is an easy grader.
This was one of the easiest programming classes i've ever taken. If you have perfect attendance, you get extra credit at the end. It's a very straight forward class where if your program works, you get an A
Very easy going and nice professor! Class is very easy just follow the instructions and you will not have any problems. Easy class, easy A, easy work. Work load is not heavy at all. Will take max 2 hrs for assignments. About 2 assignments per month that go by so fast. Very few quizzes that are simple. Take this course!!
She takes a long time to respond to emails so make sure you have a clear understanding of the assignment well before it is due. She also grades tough; I mistakenly missed two assignments and it brought my grade down to a 68%. Complete assignments early so you won't have to try to reason with her to make them up and still receive credit.
Good class. Just complete assignments on time and you will not have any problems passing the class. Book is mandatory... you will not pass without it. Give yourself time to finish assignments.. do not cram the night before.

Professor Kalmar is one of the better professors at UM-flint. She really cares about her students are does help you if you are trying to learn. Although she won't grade your program until it runs 100%, she makes sure you understand how to code a program entirely. As long as you work hard enough and do your assignments you will do well , guarantee.
Super easy class. Do a couple of hours, every other week, and you'll pass with flying colors. Can retake exams, including the final. Turn your assignments in early though, in case the file gets corrupted (it's a zero if it does).
If the program works you get a grade, if not you don't. Missed class and missed a program? Too bad she won't tell you what to do but she WILL nag you to get it done. She does not follow her syllabus. She has very little understanding of what she is actually teaching. She left class early saying something came up when too many people wanted help.
The class is really easy. Towards the end, you're going to need the book for the assignments, but the book is on reserve at the library, so you can use it there (you don't have to buy the book). There's an assignment (or two if there's a quiz) due every Tuesday. Great class if you're looking for an easy technology class for gen ed requirements.
You basically teach yourself out of the interactive textbook for most of the class and then take small quizzes which you can take until you get the grade you want. If you get stuck anywhere you can email her and she answers wanting to help but I am not convinced she knows how to program. She just copy-pastes things from the answer keys.
The course was only 1 credit hour, and definitely felt it. Homework was short and exceedingly easy as long as you caught the important bits in the lecture at some point. Wasn't much in way of tests or quizzes really, so much of the grade came from the homework. As long as you kept on top of the few of those she'd send your way, you'd be fine.
