Very helpful. Her teaching made me change my major to psychology.
she is cool. explains topics well. easy-going.
I am a psychology major, but I didn't want to take this class. She made me regret that I did. She was very dry, very boring, and not very clear on the material.
She is very good at explaining things when one doesn't understand the material and is willing to help after class and durinf her office hours.
Biological Psychology - not for the faint of heart or those easily overwhelmed by neuroanatomy BUT Ladrow, while somewhat of a list nut, is an excellent communicator! She loves her subject and if you are an adult, you will really enjoy the varied topics in this class because she explains why your neural synapses have shorted out over the years.
She was boring and thought that she was right no matter what. She would never admit she was wrong even when it clear. The only way that she will like you is if you suck up to her about her work with rats. She was not understanding and never canceled class..rain or shine you had to be there. I hated the class.
All of the examsn were based exactly on the sample test which mad ethe class easy. The only thing I didn't like is even though she didn't take attendance she'd get up in business anyways and ask you why you weren't there. I enjoy independent learning situations more than guided ones though.
Her class was a joke. I didn't really learn anything. The tests were simple because they were basically the exact same questions as the sample test she gave you. I almost never went to this class and I got a B+.
read her hand outs word for word and you can ace her exams and get the exam hand out and all is well exceptionally well read in her area and research matters
First half of the semester was fine, but after Test two it got terrible. She started talking in circles instead of answering questions. Trips herself up a lot which makes it hard to take notes and confuses us. Test questions are ambiguous and if you ask her to clarify she thinks you're trying to argue with her and prove her wrong.
I personally hate biology so I expected to be bored, I was not disappointed. Didn't enjoy the class and would not recommend to those who already don't like biology. Also, DO NOT TAKE HER FOR PSY 240...behavioral psychology is NOT her thing
She is really nice, however being nice will not help you pass! She is really confusing and can't simplify anything. She also gets really defensive when you question her. The tests have very ambiguous answer choices. If you take her, good luck...
I was a little upset with a -, but overall pleased with the class, even though I did not expect to be saying that. If your class is loud, you will get frustrated, as lecture is important for such topic matter. Be weary of loud classmates.
Tough subject. I'm an A student with a keen interesting in the subject and it was a difficult class for me. She wants you to LEARN (not memorize). Pay attention to the quizzes and any worksheets, and READ THE BOOK. You WILL have to study for this class.
She is a wonderful professor. She really cares about students understanding material. She posts helpful worksheets and gives us so many examples. You have to study in this class unless you are very good at biology. Don't sign up for her if you're lazy. This class is so interesting and I would recommend to anyone who wants to learn.
Take this class with another professor if at all possible. Boring lectures, can't convey her knowledge of the material, and sometimes disrespectful to students. If you must take it with her: read the textbook, do the handouts she gives you, and you'll be fine.
Great professor for academic students. You have to work hard in the class in order to pass, but you will learn a lot.
I loved taking Bio Psych with Mrs. Ladrow.
Bio Psy was a tough class, and she just made it harder. It was obvious that she didn't know her stuff, and if she did, then she didn't look very confident about it. Her lectures were boring and painful to sit through. She'd be a more appropriate middle school teacher instead of a college level biology/psychology professor.
I really enjoyed Psy with Ms. Ladrow. she is a very helpful,and caring person who wants the entire class to pass. Her tests are easy because she gives STUDYGUIDES! i got a B+ and I rarely went to class.
OK teacher. Really truely cares about her students. Reads from her powerpoints mostly. Sometimes get to watch cool videos that pertain to psychology on youtube. Psychology is an interesting subject and you will not have trouble paying attention. TESTS ARE EASY IF YOU FILL OUT THE STUDY GUIDE SHE GIVES YOU ON BLACKBOARD.
This woman is absolutely brilliant and my favorite teacher at this university so far. She is a great teacher and plays super interesting videos. The class is difficult, but it's worth it because it's SO interesting. As long as you study both the powerpoints and the textbook well, you should do fine. SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND!
Dr. Ladrow is a good professor who is teaching a difficult class. The material is dense, you have to study (and read the chapters more than once) but if you will take responsibility for learning the material rather than hoping to "parrot", you'll be fine. She's not easy but if you're interesting in the subject you'll learn a lot.
I think she's brilliant. She really tries to deliver the material and is always willing to help anyone. Her tests are very hard and hard to predict, but it's doable I guess.

Good teacher, very helpful, course became more interesting as we dove deeper into Psych. Tests are challenging (unless you study). I recommend her for your Psych 121.
I took this class online. Dr. Ladrow is very helpful, wants her students succeed, and is also interested in their opinions about the course. A lot of reading, but the material got pretty interesting after the first couple of lessons. Tests are very straight forward from the readings. Dr. Ladrow really knows her stuff about ABA!
Excellent, exciting class - wonderful teacher
Lectures are incomprehensible and boring.She never uses real world examples.Only talks about lab work and rats useless if you have no interest in research. Tests are ambiguous even if you study. If you have a job and a life, this class requires too much with little return. She's is not helpful to working adult students. Textbook is terribly boring.
There are no forums so you never discuss the subject matter with fellow students. There is no communication from the teacher unless it is a notification about an activity or exam. ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE AT THE ASININE TIME OF 5:00 PM! If you work or have a family, tough!
Dr. Ladrow is such a sweetheart! I really love that I got to take 310 with her. I'm doing fairly well and it's because she's a really caring teacher. 310 is super hard, so of course you have to actually do your work. Don't blame it on her for your laziness. She went really easy on us, but I do suggest her for a teacher.
If you want to be successful in this class you must STUDY. This is not an easy class. Dr. Ladrow provides powerpoint slides but they do not cover all the information you need. Read the chapters before doing the online activities and make sure you go to class for clicker points. If you do these you should pass the course.
Dr. Ladrow is an amazing professor, she will ALWAYS explain anything to you. She teaches the complex material in the most approachable way possible, and she gives you a study guide/note outline for EVERY chapter. People who do poorly are avoiding all the help she offers, shes such a sweet woman and shes an amazing professor, ive had her 3 times
Dr. Ladrow is a sweet person, however she does not explain the lessons. You have to take it upon yourself to read on your own and go to lab to really comprehend this class. She is mostly fair with her decisions and provides powerpoint that are posted online, has charts to fill in for studying, and tutorials online.
Dr. Ladrow is a wonderful professor! She isnt easy, but she couldnt be more helpful or interested in her students, she gives reading outlines for EVERY chapter, posts PP slides, and makes practice quizzes. she shows videos, gives anecdotes, cracks jokes. She absolutely gives 110% if you show even slight interest, and shes very personable and sweet
I hated this class, and I hated being in her lectures. She doesn't seem sure about her information and her lectures are painful to sit through. I took Biological Psychology and Careers in Psychology with her, and I've changed my major completely since then. Definitely not one of my favorite professors.
She loves what she does and it shows. Her lectures are interesting and you even watch some videos. Online stuff is super easy. The toughest part is the tests. No matter how hard you study there will always be a lot of questions you do not recognize. The best part about her though is she drops a test grade. I loved this class and learned a lot.
This is my 4th class I have taken with professor ladrow. Her tests are very tough and I feel like she makes them way harder than they should be. She is unclear about stuff and makes things unclear and confusing. All my classes I took with her were stressful. She always takes attendance no matter how large the class by using iclickers.
I have had Dr. Ladrow for a number of courses now. I think she is a fair professor who obviously cares a great deal about her students and profession. I would take more courses from her if I could.
Good luck. She is quite literally the worst. She harps on about how to find the mean forever but doesn't explain harder concepts because, "you should already know it." The woman likes to feel smart by asking questions with no right answers. Get ready to teach yourself in your free time.
Dr. Ladrow was actually one of my favorite professors this year. Her 230 class is hard, but if you read the book and take notes then you should be fine. She goes over a lot of material, and her exams can be quite difficult. But I came out with all A's on them. So as long as you come to class and do the assignments online, you should be good.
Worst class
Online class expect to learn by yourself and no help given. Technical difficulties are no excuses.
The class was challenging but there were many options for extra help. Dr. Ladrow is easy to contact and gives helpful advice. Be forewarned that she does not round grades up. 89.9999 is a B+.
Everyone told me this class was impossible, but I pulled an A, you simply have to attend class, and keep up. You cannot get behind! Her test are highly anticipated, but not near as tough as you would think, I think A's and B's on them. The lab portion of the class is annoying, but helpful. Do not stress this class if you put your mind to it.
She was incredibly helpful in 310 and has a real passion for the subject matter. Now that I am in 311, I appreciate her even more because I use the worksheets and aplia questions she set up for us. If you are conscientious and seek her help, she will do anything to help you.
Ladrow is one of the most knowledgable professors I have had. She really cares that you understand the material. PSY 310 is a lot of work and a lot of people complain about it; as long as you study, do the homework, and pay attention in lab then you will do fine. But go to class! Clicker points count for a lot. I would have had an A if I went more!
This class was terrible. Dr. Ladrow was not helpful at all when I asked her questions, and she took a long time to respond. Her tests were ridiculously hard and are not reflective of the reading at all. Do not take this class!
I had her for Biopsych and psych statistics 1. Biopsych was difficult but if you read the book and study you can pass. Statistics with her was easy. Shes there to talk with if you have questions and shes entertaining to listen to. She has great interest in what she teaches and it shows.
I'm sure she is a nice person but I would never take another class with her. Her lectures were so dry, it was hard to stay awake. Her exams are hard too.
The class itself wouldn't be as hard if the test/activities given matched up with the textbook we were required to buy. Also beware there are activities and exams due on Sundays/Saturdays if you aren't paying attention to your schedule you WILL miss out on that particular assignment.
Ms. Ladrow was amazing ! Being that I am a new psych major this course really really helped me out a lot ! The speakers she had come in were enjoyable and I received a lot of information from them ! Show up , listen , and take notes and you'll pass with flying colors ! Definitely recommend this sweet teacher and this course for all psych majors !
Definitely a great professor and I will be taking more of her classes in the future. Her exams are difficult but as long as you read the book and come to class they aren't as bad. Most definitely recommend.
I had Dr. Ladrow for two classes last semester and she's a very sweet woman and is obviously very passionate about psychology and neuroscience, but the way she teaches PSY230 gets very confusing. The class made me hate psychology. The exams were awful & never matched class material well. She offers a lot of ways to improve your grade though.
An ineffective teacher for such a hard science class. She would usually start class 3-5 minutes late, some assignments online were just suddenly due early without any warning, and she barely curves, even though the average grade on both tests were in the low 60s. Don't take this class if you can help it, too much work for a teacher that doesnt care
She is such a sweet person, but her teaching styles are poor and she seems like she doesn't know her material properly. Her exams are way too hard and the averages are always low. For a class with so much material, she makes everything so unnecessarily hard. DO NOT THINK OF TAKING HER.
This is one of the hardest 200 level classes I have taken. The material is interesting. You absolutely need to go to class in order to pass. Read the book and attend the SIP hours because this class is very difficult. Ladrow is willing to help as much as possible, but the material and tests are hard.
YOU NEED THE BOOK. YOU NEED THE BOOK. YOU NEED THE BOOK. Took me until the 2nd quiz to figure out how to take effective notes for this class. It's difficult, she makes you work for it. 12 quizzes, 10 points. 4 exams, 50 points. There's a cumulative final (pissed), 100 points. You NEED to make time to study. If you don't, you won't pass.
You absolutely need to read the book. Dont even think about taking notes in class if you havent already read the chapter before class, because she flies through the powerpoints and wont go back if you miss something. Hardly curves, will talk up & down about "buffers" but that doesnt help when the exams are impossible to pass.
Dr. Ladrow did not understand that this was an online course where students had to teach themselves. She made her quizzes and exams so hard that even if you studied, you would still have a hard time because there were a lot of trick questions that didn't align with the required textbook. You really have to read and do the practice questions to pass
If you've never seen this material before be prepared to work hard to try to understand the material. The lectures are pointless and don't help you learn the material so you will rely heavily on the book. About half of the class would fail every exam so that tells you a lot. regardless of these statistics she still did nothing to change or help.
The lectures are pointless and you'll wonder why you're going to class at all. Attendance isn't "mandatory" but she takes attendance with iClickers . The quizzes are not made by her, but the tests are, so don't rely on the quizzes to study for anything. If you're taking this class for gen ed credit, I suggest you take a different class.
Attendance is somewhat mandatory as clicker questions count as participation. She never really teaches the material and always have the need to "rush" during her lectures, although the lectures are not helpful at all. You're basically on your own. You're really going to need your textbook for this class and make sure you read, lots!
If you've already taken physiology, intro to pysch and 300-level bio courses, this is mostly review. If you haven't, this class is gonna be really hard. Lectures are pretty pointless, but she does clicker quizzes every day. Just read the textbook and memorize the online quiz questions since they are usually on the exams.
There was a paper due every week, and she didn't like the way you said something, she would take a point off. She is a very tough grader. Her tests are difficult, no study guides. She's pretty understanding about switching deadlines though. Just do the best you can.
This professor isn't good for people with accomodations. She is rude and doesn't offer to help if you don't understand the material. If you need assistance in classes, then please save your money. Wasted over 100 dollars in this class...
I'm a post-bac student, and I've had some bad professors in my day. But she takes the cake. She's terrible at organizing an online class, you'll fail homework assignments because she couldn't be bothered to finish her thought when writing the questions, and her expectations are incredibly unclear. You'd think she'd never taught before. Skip her.
Already a hard enough class, she puts basically no effort into teaching online classes. The canvas site is very disorganized. Gives no lectures, all we get aside from the textbook is some slides which come from the textbook, not her. Despite this, she is an incredibly hard grader, and is completely unforgiving even when the whole class struggles.
I love Dr. Ladrow but I hated this class. It was online with 0 interaction or lecturing from the professor. You are left on your own with the textbook to figure things out for yourself. Despite this the information in exams barely resembles the material from the book and is riddled with trick questions and ambiguous wording. Avoid this class.

For her in person classes, she does not do power points or any form of explanation other than the textbook and "activities" that the textbook website generates. Her quizzes each week are extremely difficult and as are her exams. I do not recommend taking her what so ever. Should be considered a 400 level not a 200 level!!!
Everything is on the lockdown browser. The class was asynchronous. I hate bio so I don't know why I even took this course. This class kinda made me hate my existence. Don't take it unless you like science like that. Also there are no quizlets so.
RUN! She gives you a bunch of assignments in Cengage, but they do not count only the quizzes in Canvas. Quiz questions are unrelated to the material because she feels that questions based on the book are "tacky and high school like". Lockdown browser is used, but she changes her syllabus verbally and adds new rules to test taking. Attitude is poor.
Most psychology professors have taken the route of writing new and organic questions for their exams to prevent cheating. This one however will invade your privacy and then proceed to ask questions on said exam you have read nothing about during the week. She doesn't answer emails, has 0 concern for her students, and only interested in saving time.
I am surprised this professor still has a job after reading other reviews and how closely they match my experience. If any faculty from UNCG is reading this please spend your money on a teacher who is invested in the success of their students not praying on their downfall. Genuinely feels like she uses these exams to stroke her own ego.
Writes her exams and quizzes like a Shakespearean screen play when the course content is psychology not English. Her attitude towards teaching is reflective in her students grades. Avoid this Engl.. I mean Psychology professor if you can
For some reason values her ego over her students education. If the mean score of your test is a 50% than there is obviously something wrong with your test. I have a hard time believing over my half my class mates who pay thousands of dollars to come here just are not studying. Just RUN! I repeat RUN! Take it with a different professor please.
Taking this professor's class was a big mistake. If you are an online student do not expect to receive help or any resources to understand the material other than your textbook. She blames students for poor grades but when the majority of her students are failing that shouldn't be a hint that maybe your technique is not working?

Dr.Ladrow was very nice as an advisor, but as a teacher not so much. Her coursework isn't necessarily heavy, but don't trust the study guides. Yes they give a great frame for the quizzes, but you need way more detail than it says. She doesn't seem very involved with her students and acts bothered when you email her. Bad vibes most of the time.
She is friendly, yet too content dense for a 200-level course. While I absolutely like neuroscience, this course was presented in a way that was unintuitive. The only real help were the interactive book activities; a minor extra credit provided. Quizzes and exams were full of trick questions and double meanings, unfortunate.
This class made me absolutely hate psychology. I have taken BIO and CHEM courses that were all so much easier than this one. It is a fully online class, every single thing is on a lockdown browser. On quizzes notes are allowed but on tests they aren't. Never in my life have I had to fight so hard to pass a class. Avoid this if you can.
I do not recommend taking this class or any class with professor Landrow. The test questions are mostly trick questions as well as exams. Even with studying the book and lecture materials I still struggled with this course. If asked for help professor will just tell you to study more and be of no help. overall terrible professor, should be fired.

At the beginning of the course, she tells you if you're not ready to 9+ hours of studying then this course isn't for you. Believe that! I only asked for a 24 hour extension because of a family emergency and she wouldn't give it to me. She just told me it's good I at least did the quiz. Mind you I failed it.
Well, this class was the bane of my existence the entire fall semester. All I can say is: Read every chapter, fill out the study guide, and make sure you study past quizzes for exams. The exam questions are straight from the quizzes. If you don't need to take this class, don't. Material was interesting but the organisation of class was unfortunate.
