Dr. New is the best. I love her and her teaching method. The previous review is far off from reality. Take her for lab, too. You won't be sorry!

Dr. New is awesome! She is very helpful and understanding if you have any questions.
not much interaction just because it was a lab so I don't know about her teaching style. But great lab teacher.
I did not enjoy teaching methods. She teaches in a group setting. She does an overview of the chapter, then you take a quiz, then she works a few problems, then you have a group assignment and then you take a test. She does not go over enough examples of problems.
Dr. New is a wonderful teacher, I only had her for lab but feel like I lost out not having her for class as well.
Pam New she is a very nice lady, but she takes off for spelling, simple calculations not shown like 1-1=0. She explains stuff well but her quizes are hard because she picks out questions that you never went over in lab. It takes her forever to get back labs so you can study for test.Take Montes
Dr New is great. She is always glad to help. I recomend this class.
I love Dr. New! She is very clear in her teaching style and writes everything almost everything on the board. She does not at all teach in a group setting. Dr. New is very willing to help and excellent at explaining things. She's also great in lab.
very helpful and clear. willing to help with any problems you have. i recommend this class.
One of the greatest teachers I have ever had. She was awesome.
Very nice lady. Very funny. Wish I would have taken her for lab, too. Tries as hard as she can to make a difficult class easy.
Excellent teacher and person. I understood things in her class that i didn't get in lecture. Very nice and always willing to help. VERY RECOMMENED!!!!!!!!

She is a great teacher and very easy to follow in lecture. I am horrible at science and I made a B in her class. Take her, she is always willing to help.
She is a great teacher. She is kind and helpful and helps you do the very best. Aslo she explains things very well and seems to cut out some of the work from the lab reports.I wish i would have taken her for more classes.
Loved her!!!! Don't take anyone else, she's a sweetheart and her lectures are so educational!! Even if you hate Chemistry like me, you'll love her and her classes.
she is confusing about what she wants and doesn't prepare you well for her test questions, she takes off points for alot of little things, if you take her don't miss any class periods

I had Dr. New for my general Chem lab. She was very clear on everything that we did. She gives a quiz each week but if you study the lab prior to the quiz its cake.
Whoever said she favors guys is ridiculous. I am a girl and I am doing great, she helps me whenever I need help. She is a great professor!! Take her for lab and lecture!!
study the notes and homework questions. Dr. New was very nice and sweet.
She's a very nice lady, super sweet and suwer helpdful. Doesn't count points for attendance, so if you're not responsible enough to get yourself to class, don't take the class.
Dr. New is very clear on what to do for lab. Her quizes are straight forward. She is very helpful as long as you put a little time into class. Highly recommended.
She is very clear on what to do in the lab.
Da Good doctor is the best lab teacher. she is very helpful and very clear on what she wants you to do. She is great!!!!

She is the best teacher I have ever had. I recommend her. Im taking her for lecture this semester and have already enrolled for lab next semester.
Fantastic! Extremely helpful, clear, nice, and not difficult. Her teaching helped me learn better than lecture at times as well. I only had her in lab but my partner said she was every bit as good in lecture. I would HIGHLY recommend her for any class!
I absolutely loved her class. I would definately take her again!
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ONLINE CHEMISTRY! Her "presentations" do not explain anything related to homework assignments. If you take her online class, be prepared to do HOURS of homework on the weekends to pull a decent grade!
Fantastic teacher and by far my favorite! She teaches chemistry as if you've never had it before and sparks an interest. She is extremely helpful and always wants the best for her students. All you have to do is do the homework and study. If this is your first time taking chem, def take her!
I had her for the online Chem I course, and I absolutely adore her. She is so helpful when you need her. I also really loved her presentations for each chapter. It helped to build on the information I read in the text. I will be looking for her for future classes.
I liked her. She's helpful and her teaching method is awesome. It really helps to learn and understand the material, her tests aren't too bad either. Although you will need to study! She cares about students learning and tells little jokes. I recommend her and would definitely take her again!
Best lab teacher EVER. She is very clear in what she wants and her teaching is so easy to understand. She's really nice and funny. I haven't gotten less than 14.5/15 on my lab reports and got 100s on her quizzes. No pre-lab quizzes! Just a quiz over what you did the week before. Definitely recommended!
Had her for Lab my first semester of my freshman year and if it weren't for her I would have flunked out of chemistry for sure!!
Very unclear and not helpful when it comes to questions. Very impatient and has the tendency to roll her eyes. Intimidating and unhelpful. Avoid.
She is awesome! Explains everything clearly and gives great notes. She is very prompt about answering questions. If you do MasteringChem and come to class and take notes, you'll do well in the class. She's funny and made us sing chemistry Christmas carols on our last lecture day! :) She's a great professor!
Dr. New is an amazing teacher. i have hated chemistry for several years but she represented the concepts in a clear, cheerful fashion. The homework should be taken seriously. The tests are appropriate. I thought she was incredibly cute.
Dr. New is great! I had her freshman year for Chem I lecture and learned so much! She was very clear and willing to answer questions. Quick to respond to emails and very willing to meet with you for extra help. The homework should be started ASAP and her tests are really easy if you read notes and work problems. Highly recommend her for any class!!
Took her for Chem I & II. Love her! Chem II is hard, but doable. Four in-class exams and one ACS (hard) final. Do homework ASAP (redo). Exams are not tricky! Tips: Do and redo HW, start HW ASAP. I made an A in the class even after the hard final! :)
She was a great professor! Chem II for me was definitely a lot harder. Go to her for help study a lot and you'll be fine.
Great professor. Easy to understand and such a sweetheart. Start the homework ASAP. Review homework, notes, and read Ch's before tests and you should be just fine. Remember, it's CHEM-- you have to STUDY. TAKE HER FOR LAB TOO!
Loved Dr. New. Great professor and makes it interesting by presenting the information in multiple ways. Very helpful too! Homework on every chapter and four exams. ACS final was very hard though.
AMAZING. She actually cares about her students. Homework due every week, with a 6 day warning. New's super outgoing quirky and funny personality allows you to relax in her lectures- which are interesting and clear-and helps you learn. Encourages students regularly to ask for needed help and available when needed. You WILL ACTUALLY learn chemistry.
Awesome professor! Cares about students. she teaches clearly. Her tests are multiple choice and free response. Not too much homework, all on mastering chem. She sends out reminders on d2l on tests. GREAT TEACHER.
Dr. New was great! I took her for Chem II lab and she's very good at explaining things! The ONLY thing that I didn't like about the class was how hard the pre-lab quizzes were. I recommend anyone to take her class!
Dr. New is an excellent teacher. Here's the deal, chemistry is not a blow off class. Unless you are prepared to work, you will not do well. She is about as clear and fair as you could hope for in a teacher. And always available for helping you if you need extra support, just don't waste her time. And go to class!!!
Dr. New is a wonderful chemistry professor! Her lectures are very clear and understandable. Tests are tough, but if you read the book you should do okay. She is very willing to help with any problems you may be having. Super sweet and quirky, makes the lectures entertaining!
Dr. New is the best chemistry teacher you can have at UCO! Make sure to enroll quick into her class whenever enrollment opens, spots fill up fast. She explains everything so well and make sures she keeps everyone awake and entertained! I used to hate chemistry, but now I love it thanks to her. Don't skip class, do your homework, and you will pass.
Prof. New was great! She writes on the board as she lectures so you know everything you need to know. You don't really need your book but I did use mine at times. You have easy online hw and the tests are decent. Half multiple choice and half written problems. If you study the notes, you'll be fine. Some tough memorization. Bonus for attendance.
Best among her fellow teachers
Dr New is my favorite professor I've had in my college career! She is very straight forward about what will be on the test. Study guides given beforehand. Online mastering chem homework for every chapter. If you do not apply yourself you will not do well but Dr new will do everything she can to ensure you succeed if you are showing her you care.
Dr. New is the best teacher I have ever had! Her class is easy if you pay attention and take notes! She makes it even easier by writing everything you should write down on the board! She even pauses and waits if people get overwhelmed. The tests are easy if you study! Make sure you look at the study guides!!
She was really nice in class, but was insanely hard on the tests. I was basically the student with the lowest grade and am not that person. Ive been in school for 3 years and havent made less than a B, so yeah, I was insanely mad at this professor.
TRUTH: The BEST chem professor at UCO. I took her for CHEM 1 and CHEM 2. CHEM 2, she lectures well, but I wished she would lecture more on the concepts, rather than the math stuff. CHEM 1, she teaches well in both math and concept stuff. OVERALL, SHE'S GUCCI
She has very detailed notes and explains information in easy to understand methods! If youre going into chemistry very unconfident I would suggest this professor! People dont like her because chemistry is a lot of work, but her class and teaching style was amazing.
Take Dr. New for chemistry! She is the best teacher for general chemistry at the University of Central Oklahoma! If you come to class, do the online homework, takes good notes, and use the study guides you will do great! She describes the concepts clearly too! I took her for Chem I and Chem II and really enjoyed it!
New was awesome. She gave great lectures and was easy to approach and talk to individually. It may not seem like she has time to give one on one help but she will make time no matter what, you just have to ask.
Dr. New is the only reason I passed Chem II. She explains the material very clearly and it makes it easy to understand. She works lots of examples which helps a lot in problem solving. She's super nice and funny and cares about her students.
Loved Dr. New. You would understand everything during the class, and if not, then you can always go to her in her office hours and she will explain it to you. You can also seek help through email. She is extremely helpful. I would wish to take her again for all my chem classes.
She's probably one of my favorites. She makes really lame jokes, gives small gifts throughout the semester, and she even brought her pet rabbit to class once. Her lectures are extremely helpful and you can always ask her all the questions you want during her office hours. Textbook is used only for online homework. Just study her notes for tests
She is probably one of my favorite professors I've taken at UCO. She is super nice and really cares about her students. The tests are kinda hard but it is chem so what do you expect. All the homework is done online and is pretty easy. Also she makes note guidelines that you can print out to fill out while she is lecturing and those are so helpful!
Kind, cares for her students like family but dont get to comfortable her class gets hard if youre not careful
Hands down my favorite professor! She grades easy and she genuinely wants you to pass. She moves slow when she teaches. Not slow in an annoying way, but slow in a way that allows you to absorb information. Highly recommend taking her for Chem one and two!!
I've had 4 different chemistry professors at UCO, and she is by far the best. Chemistry isn't easy in any class, so be prepared to study and stay on top of homework. Her guided notes she provides are a godsend. She is the nicest professor imaginable, and is always willing to help outside her class or during office hours. Take her for chem 1 and 2!
Professor New is way too reliant on ALEKS. She makes the class almost near impossible to pass unless you do chemistry 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you ask her for help, she is not very helpful. Her weekly quizzes are 20 points each and I at best got a 10/20 each week. Even after studying hard for them.
Professor New is a great professor. Her use of guided notes were honestly the best way to help learn the information. She is great at lecturing and explaining the material so you can understand. Most of the homework consists of aleks, which will be time consuming, but is basically the only form of assignments she gives. Totally take her if you can.
Dr. New is a great professor. She is super funny and understands chemistry is hard, but you will have to work for your grade. She is great at explanation and truly made chemistry fun and easy to understand. STUDY the guided notes - and actually study all the concepts. Tests are on understanding the concepts not just math and memorization.
Professor New is a great teacher and fun to learn from. For chemistry one and two she uses ALEKs which is a program that helps you learn the material. For each chapter there is an ALEKs assignment that is due on Sunday, so you will have a week to get it done. Those are ten points making the class a little bit test heavy as tests are 100 points.
Terrible teacher, bad at giving examples, answering questions, and preparing students for tests. She teaches topics that she has no idea about that have nothing to do with the 100 aleks topics -legit 100 aleks over the course of the semester. Rude and is not easy to work with, if you take her class be prepared to teach yourself the whole class.
She gives out no extra credit whatsoever, and is extremely unhelpful in answering questions or giving extensions on assignments(only ALEKS) she doesn't grade nor know how to do herself. Lectures are boring, hard to follow and understand. I had to teach myself everything. Overall, Dr. New is an awful professor, who doesn't care about her students.
I highly recommend taking any other professor she firstly makes everything more difficult for example the ALEKS homework is not like the class examples and 70% of the time the exams are based on the notes and not the ALEKS you spend 20 hours doing. She is also extremely passive aggressive and not understanding at all you could be on your death bed.
This class was way harder then necessary she is an extremely hard grader with no good feedback. The labs also do not prepare to pass most of the post lab exams.
She was super helpful when you had questions. At first, the post-lab quizzes were hard to understand because the lab report were in a different format as the quizzes. I would say that the content needed to do well on the quizzes are the same though. Just make sure to review the graded lab report and pre-lab questions before the weekly quizzes.
I loved her! She was very approachable during office hours. I liked the fact that she filled in notes with us on lecture days. ALEKS sucked, but it was extremely helpful and did a fantastic job at getting me ready for tests. Her tests were based off her notes and I found it helpful to do the questions at the end of the chapter for extra practice.
I would caution you to please take someone else she is not absolutely terrible but she often does not treat students like people, she is passive aggressive , she only answers emails if she feels like and she does not set up the class for you to do well you can manage if you have to take her but I would say avoid the stress.
I would be wary of the positive posts, I would look at the most recent posts. Let's just say the scores are inflated. Very backwards teacher that is not moving with times. Expect passive aggressiveness and attitudes. Avoid at all cost
While I would say Dr. New is a pretty good teacher, there are few things graded in the course as it is very test-heavy. Another thing I was surprised when people mentioned that Dr. New was caring as I found her to be very unempathic and rather strict. I would take a class with her again, but it would not be my first choice if possible.
This professor is very passive aggressive, the only real grades are exams which you are extremely unprepared for. If you can avoid this professor, avoid her at all costs. She does not look out in the best interests of her students.
Very understanding and sweet, just reach out if you need a (reasonable) extension or extra help
Dr. New is amazing. Print out the guided notes and attend class and you WILL succeed in her class. She made chemistry fun and interesting, she definitely sparked a passion for chemistry for me. She made the concepts approachable and easy to understand.
I took Dr. New for both Gen Chem I & II, and she was amazing. Notes are straight forward and easy to follow along. Practice problems in class are very helpful. No study guides but ALEKS + Textbook questions are a great way to prepare. She's pretty funny even if her jokes are a little corny. Buy/find the ACS study guide for the final. Take her!
I loved her for lab! She expects you to act like the adult you are so that you can succeed. I would strongly advise to not miss ANY labs. I could have received an A in this class but missed a lab. Listen to what she says and dont be afraid to ask for help; she will glady help you.
