This teacher is retarded. She loves to assign writing assignments and gets off on grammar. She may come off as nice the first class but that quickly wears off. BEWARE, she is devilish. final essay is some ridiculous page count and worth like 400 points!

Great teacher, if you want to learn how to write. Very energetic!
Good teacher, makes class bearable, very helpful, not so much clear though.
She is a pretty good teacher although if you ask her a question you need to reapeat her answer back to her or you might have the wrong idea.
Worst english teacher ever! Does not grade correctly, does not make you a better writter. VERY RUDE can not reason with her and think she knows it all. Ive never been so annoyed with a person before. The whole class feels the pain.
Great teacher! Gets everyone involved.
She is very friendly and has a good sense of humor
Do NOT write anything on a subject she doesnt like you will get an F and she will make sure of it. I went from a B to a D- because I wrote an essay on why religion doesn't belong in schools. Stick within the preset molds of her belief of students (girls are smarter than guys and are better talkers/writers) and you will be fine.
She is organized and knows her stuff. She can be strange at times but, she's hardcore, if you slack and don't come to class, you get DROPPED fast, it's great to see slackers finally getting dropped.
all i wanted was to pass her class i showed up all of her classes (english is not my major but its basic stuff) in the last paper i only had to get 200 out of 400 to pass her class. i gave it a lot of time and effort and she gave me 186. i totally thought i passed and i guess she just didnt like the topic.
Sounds like the majority or previous raters are haters. I was in the class, you just have to show up, pay attention and do your homework. The teacher is great, friendly, helpful. I never received lower than a B on any paper. Maybe the rest need to pay more attention in class, or take something besides english.
She is a pretty good teacher for the most part. The homework is easy, and when in class, time goes by quick. One day we even spent the time watching School House Rock. And by the end of the semester if you have an A you dont have to take her final.
She is a great professor. She makes you work for your grade but it is for your own benefit. No slacking off allowed here. She is VERY thorough and if you received a bad grade it was because you didn't pay attention. I earned A's in both her 091 and 101 class. She gives out a lot of handouts. Keep those- you will need those later. Good Luck!
Pamela Osback! She has a nice name that rolls off the tongue. Going into her class I was very nervous because this was my 1st college class-but it turned out to be better than expected! I got 100% on all the essays, even with tons of mistakes on them. The homework is easy because there isn't really any. I love Pamela!
If you think this class is hard youre really dumb. easiest class of my life. She will return your essays with marks all over them and still give you a 100 percent. i have a 100 in her class and I dont even try. and like the comment below me, her name is very nice and rolls off the tongue yes ;)
She was ok. Not eager to give help one on one. When I would ask if it's ok to ask a question, because you needed permission from her, she would state "as long as it's short" I would not recommend her, but if you don't have a choice, make sure you show and do your assignments.
She treats as though they are in High school, seating charts, no cell phones etc. i would not recommond this teacher to anyone!
She is the best ENG instructor to take if you want to do well as you go on. There is work to do and she is very fair. Everything you learn in her class you will use in ENG102. I wish she taught 102! You know exactly what she expects and gives plenty of useful handouts (keep them, you'll need them for 102). Show up, do the work, easy A.
If you are here for an easy A (like I am,) think again. Your essay and writing skills will be put to the test in this class. There are easier professors out there. With respect, I did not enjoy the class. I was reminded of being in a high-school class with a hard teacher. Focused on the troublemakers too much. Be careful what you write about.
Great teacher!! She helps whenever you need her. I recommend this class to everyone. Need to the work hard to pass.
Worst teacher I've ever had. I got an F on a paper that had nothing wrong with it, no spelling mistakes, nothing and she wouldn't tell my why I got such a bad grade. There were only 3 people left in the entire class at the end of the semester, everyone else had dropped.
Great teaching style but she may tend to give a lot of homework. I loved her personally just because I really learned a lot from her class. She is very approachable & I enjoyed her games! Some of my classmates didn't like her, but that's because she assigns homework every meeting.
This teacher can get on your nerves
She was very unhelpful and very unfair when it came to grading. Students miss 3 days of class and dropped, yet a student missed a month and as a higher grade then me.. Does that make any sense??
With this teacher things start off fairly easy. However, later in the semester it seems like you have one paper after another. There's three 3 page papers and one 4 page paper due throughout the semester. She grades harshly on MLA citations. One good thing though, is that she didn't give us a final. You just come to the last day of class with your final paper. Also, be sure to check your assignment calendar because she does not always announce when there's homework.
Worst teacher I ever had! This women I swear she hated everyone from the start! She never ever was willing to work with my at all or even help out any of my classmates. Out of a group of 25 students 15 of us were left and 6 passed the course. She not a professor I would recommend.
She is a teacher that does warm up mini grammar warm up in the beginning of class. Attendance is a must. She gives a few extra credit opportunities throughout the class I would suggest taking advantage of them they will help you. She is strict with what she wants in the essays but she is always willing to work with you.
Rudest teacher i've ever had, she makes you feel so stupid. When you ask her to explain something again(obviously because you didn't get it the first time, which means explain it a different way), she says, let me repeat what i just said! SO ANNOYING. I canot stand the woman
She is really nice, but a bit cheesey at times. There is a lot of writing in the class.. but that is because it is an English class getting you ready for 101. The hardest part is probably around the time you start learning verbs. That is why I got a B in the class. her final is super easy though. I liked her.
Professor Osback is crystal clear about all expectations of her course. If you do the work, she is fair in grading. Her course is not easy. She grades hard, but gives many opportunities for extra credit. I suggest having your final paper mailed to your home. She voluntarily included a valuable letter of recommendation. Hard work pays off
I appreciate Mrs. Osback's style of teaching. I think when one comes to college has the opportunity to use the study skills. It is a privilege to be in college, and it is a worth invest for you. A student has the responsibility to follow the rules of the class; play by the rules in all classes and you will pass. It is worth it and simple.
DID MY WORK AND GOT BAD GRADE
From 28 Student at the beginning of class, down to 7 y final. She has a very weird way of grading. some of her credit might be making you a fool in front of class. Id English is not your first language stay awy from this class. She is rude when answering question and speed throughout her class. Makes subject harder than what it is.
If you really want to learn someyhing, go to Mrs.Osback.There won't be 10 minutes to check if everyone is there. Or another 10 minutes make a joke. with Mrs.Osback you have to study hard, there are bundles of homework and exercises during the semester, but you will get benefits in your future. This is the quality of education I expected.
I took Professor Osback for the 091/101 program, we went fast but she was very clear on how she was going to grade things and very clear on what she wanted done. Her classes isn't a class where you can just show up and pass, you actually have to do the work.... SHOCKER.... Don't be lazy, take Osback she's awesome, nice, and is always there to help!
She should not be teaching ! She mean and talks down to you ! How she still teaching I do not know. I feel bad for here kid and husband such a mean stuck up person !
Being in her class feels like your dealing with another horrible teacher in high school all over again + she's not very helpful.
She is awesome! She is fair, helpful, and good at explaining things. It's not an easy A, but if you work hard you will get an A. She gives a lot of extra credit, is organized, and teaches you everything you need to know. Would highly recommend her! Just put in the work and you'll pass.
When grading essays she will mark you off for one thing on one paper and then not on another for the same thing. She isn't always clear in what she wants. She isn't organized and will bounce around from one thing to another. So do the extra credit whenever she gives it.
She's a good teacher. In ENG 091 she gives easy homework so getting an A is easy. You do have to pay attention and do the work or else you won't do good... imagine that...
Ms Osback is the worst English teacher I ever had, she made me feel like writing is a nightmare and her classes were a torture. She does not work with canvas so you don't have the option of look at your grades. She is RUDE and unprofessional, she is not there for you at all. Don't take her class!!!
Do not take her! She is not a good teacher! She is not clear on the assignments and is not helpful.
She is super rude, and will make you look stupid in front of the whole class. Not really clear on assignments and what her requirements are on papers. I would'nt recommend taking this class
She is: *VERY fast paced, *not clear about expectations - homework/classwork, *degrading to students - talks down to them, *so fast you don't know what to ask for when she will take questions, *not accommodating to students with ANY special needs, *only writes in cursive, *I dropped and will repay to retake at another college w/a better instructor.
Literally awful. Refused to answer a question on first day of class because I addressed her as Ms instead of Professor and she repeated it in my face multiple times before she'd respond. Humiliates students in front of the class-she creates a class where you need the help but you'd rather jump off a cliff than ask her for it. STAY AWAY
Lectures were pretty boring but extra credit helps a lot!
I'm really confused with all the comments. When I searched up her name on here, I expected a great overall score on her. Took her ENG101 class and it was the easiest class I have taken. If you pay attention in class and actually do the assignments, you'll immediately get an A. She is also VERY clear on her assignments and gives good feedback.
She basically treats her class like a high school English course. She gives lots of busy work and despite minimal and unclear instruction the busy work counts towards your grade. She is very condescending. If you are 30 seconds to a minute late it counts against you, yet she shows up 3-5 minutes late at times. The bad reviews are not exaggerations.
Good Professor if you like direction and strict rules. Do your homework turn everything in on time, don't skip the class.
At the beginning of the semester she was very clear about attendance and participation. she will drop you after 5 absences, doesn't really matter why you missed. she does not accept late work for any reason at all. I have been frustrated by her grading so much this semester. HOWEVER! you will learn what you need to learn. I recommend anybody else.
Just plain uncaring and rude. She makes you feel bad for almost everything and barely gives help. Do not take her course.
Take any other professor if you're looking for an easy A or a professor that will actually explain what you need to fix on an essay. Don't take this professor, she will make you mentally frustrated.
Straight up and wants things done her way but a very good class
Dont do it to yourself you will regret it terrible teacher
Dont do it to yourself you will regret it terrible teacher she has a all over the place criteria that impossible to figure out and if you ask her for help she will send you away to the learning center or to your notes that are no help at all
She has one of the worst attendance polices its like I'm back in middle school again. She also is a very tough grader on her papers. They way she calls on students in class, it's almost like she's trying to make them look like a fool infant of everyone, she goes out of her way to make them feel stupid for their mistakes. Do not take her class.
I love her tbh. Although she may be picky about everything, it's only to benefit you. If you show up and do what is expected, you will pass.
This professor is wonderful. Very straight forward yet respects her students highly.
One of the worst professors I've had at PVCC. She is such a tough grader like she wants you to be perfect. Very forgetful and tries to blame students for it. Wants her work done exactly her way or you shouldn't take her.
If youre hoping to get an easy A with her, this is definitely not your teacher. She is a thought grader, but you get bonus points for going to the LSC, theres a lot of homework, she wants the things done at her way. Show up to class, do the homework as she ask, respect her and youll be fine. If you want to really learn, shes the one.

She is a really tough teacher, if you are looking for an easy A do not take her class. Expect a lot of homework and criticism in your essays from her because she nit picks at every little thing and has embarrased some of her students in front of the class on what they do wrong. That stuff is to be done one one not in front of a class.
worst teacher ive ever had. dont take her class if you just wanna fail trust me, I went to class everyday and tried and she SUCKED! shes rude and grades like were in Harvard or something
She is a very tough professor, completely full of herself and not-picks every tiny mistake that is made within the class (um is an interjection if you didnt know). She also had four essays due in a span of 3 1/2 months... I wouldnt recommend if you are looking for an easy A
If you are not majoring in something to do with English this is not the class for you as it is very difficult and grades as if you are going to be an author, but on the other hand she does a good job at getting her point across and is overall a good teacher just a really rough grader, so if you are doing a major that involves English I would do it.
Shes terrible and expects too much worst experience ever.
This teacher is the worst. How she gets away with how she treats her students is twisted and cruel. If you want to get a better understanding of writing skills I would take a hard pass on this teacher. She gives more grief than any constructive guidance. She is very condescending regularly. Not a class to ask questions in. Inconsistent grading.
inappropriate teacher with inappropriate remarks
Professor Osback is awesome. I really enjoyed her class. Writing is not my strongest subject but her grading and feedback made me feel like it was. Really accessible and very clear on her grading criteria. No extensions but the assignments aren't bad at all. Loved her class.
She always has a happy attitude and is a very nice person but she is not the best teacher because she is an irrational grader and she takes points off for things that don't make sense. She grades very hard and it can be difficult to understand why you got a bad grade on her assignments yet she does not offer clarity if you ask what you did wrong.
Please save your stress for something else, this is not the way I wanted to be introduced to college and im very upset with everything that went down. I lost a family member and all i got was, "theres nothing I can do". Dont waste your time, you will be disappointed.
Absolutely horrible! The reviews you see of her with 2/3 of the students dropping her class and the handful left barely passing if at all are exactly what happens. Her main goal is to fail you even if it entails not posting your assignments you did and giving you previous years essays and telling you she will correct it. PVCC needs to stop this!!!!
She extremely lacks the ability to give you good information about your assignments. I missed many assignments because she didn't tell us they were coming up. Or she would expect them printed and brought to class and didn't say that's what she wanted. Doesn't allow ANY late work. Strict on attendance. Wasn't helpful when I came to her about failing
She was never clear with her expectations for the essays. I had to constantly run back to the computer commons to print out what was needed because she wasn't clear and then she would mark points off for being late.
Definitely a tough course, but you'll be a better writer after completing it. Valuable information. Grading can be a little rigorous, but you have plenty of good feedback and chances for improvement along the way. The assignment topics are also pretty free-form, and you can usually choose your topic for the main essays. Overall great class.
Definitely would not recommend this class, I had a friend taking eng101 the same time as me with a different professor and they had way less homework. She's also very unclear in what she wants and grades extremely tough,I've never had any issue in English until this class and even did great in ap English, also had all A's until this class.
does not want you to pass
This teacher would say on thing and do something totally different and you would end up with late work. Very poor teacher skills this is the worst professor I have encountered at PVCC. Very Frustrating.
Got mad at a student for walking out to take a call from his son. Made fun of peoples names. Would not repeat directions if you were a minute late to class
When I had Professor Osback for English 101 I thought her class was completely awful and would not recommend anyone to take her going into your first year of college. She sets her students up for failure and will not work with you and will also expect you to know all the information before taking the class. Please save your money and time.
