Pamela Pollet is AWESOME! I loved taking her class. I was a biochem major at the time I took her Orgo 1 class. I since decided to change my major, but I'm getting a minor in Chemistry, just because I get to have her for Orgo 1. She offers several help sessions, a recitationwk, and there is a way to exempt the final by getting 90 on all tests!!
Pollet is seriously one of the best teachers I've had. She engages the class and is really easy to talk to.
Great professor - I loved this class! I found her lectures very interesting, and she is very helpful.
her lectures are the key to success, especially the problems she does in class. study carefully, and be sure to ask her for help during office hours. sometimes it may be hard to understand her during lecture, but it gets easier with time.
Very good professor; definitely recommend. Clear expectations for the course; genuinely cares about your learning. Hilarious while teaching and definitely passionate about the subject. Get to drop lowest test and final exemption policy so always a plus.
Dr. Pollet is awesome! The class can be tough but she is always willing to help. She has a French accent but is fairly easy to understand after the 1st lecture or 2. She makes her lectures interesting, but she goes through the material pretty fast. Definitely work the practice problems. Her grading policy is generous.
Dr. Pollet is charming but ruthless. She moves through an insane amount of material. She's an engaging lecturer but routinely goes so fast that I get lost and take away nothing from the time in class. She's very accessible outside of class, and pretty helpful. You'll like her, but you'll end up hating life because the scope of the class is absurd.
Dr. Pollet is a solid choice for organic chemistry. Definitely an above average teacher. At least for survey the class moves very quickly but the tests are fair and the grading policy is clear. I would highly suggest going to lecture because she often has useful tips for exams in there. Highly recommend her classes.
Hard class. Decent professor. Somewhat confusing and lectures fast. ALWAYS go to recitation and do all the homework. First two tests are exactly like her practice tests.
Cares about her students and tries to make class fun. She does move very quickly but she suggests reading the textbook before class (which I never did). Exams are easy since they are identical to practice tests which are posted online, along with worksheet solutions. She's ready to answer your questions after class. She's a bit disorganized.
She is awesome. Very understanding. Moves really fast and her tests can be difficult, but I give her a thumbs up.
Pollet is the nicest professor I've ever had. She really cares about her students, and makes class fun. Work on the homeworks with other people and review the recommended readings before the test. If you're struggling, go to recitation or her review times. It's not hard to do well
She is a great professor and a nice, sweet human being who cares about her students. Her lectures are good but can be fast-paced and overwhelming if you don't read ahead. I suggest printing her pre-lecture notes out and taking notes on there. Tests gradually get harder, so try to do well on the first two. Take advantage of recitations and reviews.
She obviously loves the subject and cares a lot about her students. The course covers material quickly, but she does a HUGE amount of things to help us (recording lecture, posting notes, solutions, answering Piazza, etc.). She probably puts as much time outside class into the course as her students spend studying for it. 10/10
She's a really good teacher but this class is probably one of the harder chem classes here. She explains things really well is fairly enthusiastic in lecture shes also a really cool person and is willing to help. Don't fall behind on material tho everything builds on itself
Professor Pollet is a SOLID choice for Organic Chemistry I. She knows exactly how to communicate the material clearly enough to be understood. Her pre-recorded video lectures set you up for success in class if you watch them and take notes. Take her stuff seriously and pay attention. She's also hilarious, so get ready for some good belly laughs.
Pre-Lecture videos are posted for each chapter - very helpful to watch before class since the course covers a good bit of material. Clicker questions every class for a grade. Every test had at least 5 bonus points to be earned; she is generous with CIOS points/midterm survey points when it comes to exams. The class was initially curved.
Orgo is hard, no matter who the professor is, but Pollet taught the material in an engaging way. The class was taught in Scheller and I always made it on time and rarely skipped (skipped because I wanted to study for other classes). She's kind enough to record her lectures, so if you do have to miss a class, it's easy to catch up.
Dr. Pollet is a really great professor, she knows what she is talking about and is very engaging. She has a great sense of humor and can relate to students well. Go to recitation and put the work in and you will do well.
Dr. Pollet is a fantastic professor. She is entertaining and explains the concepts well. She is definitely enthusiastic about organic chemistry and very knowledgeable. Dr. Pollet seems to have fun at lecture and will make herself laugh multiple times a lecture.
Dr. Pollet is amazing! She is so passionate about Organic Chemistry, which is shown through her lectures. She also very kind and helpful in office hours as well.
Dr. Pollet loves organic chemistry and loves teaching. She makes lecture fun and is very approachable outside of class. She can go very quickly sometimes, but I think that is the same in every organic chem class. Tests are hard, but if you study in advance and do lots of practice problems, it is a very manageable class.
Dr. Pollet was is an amazing professor. She makes lectures very enjoyable and is very good at explaining concepts. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed! She is always willing to help you in office hours and makes things clear to understand. Do the practice tests and study your notes/textbook.
She is a good teacher but doesn't explain things thoroughly. The class goes very fast and the tests are very hard.
Organic chemistry was made even more difficult due to her tendency to lose her trains of thought halfway through explaining things.
Extremely Difficult class if you make it harder than it is. Don't rely on the tests to do well in this class, do every single homework and go to the lecture for the PRS Questions, they will really help you out at the end. Dr. Pollet is a fun and caring professor if you give her a chance, don't make this harder on yourself!
Take her. She's great.
By far, the best chemistry professor I've had at Tech. Dr. Pollet explains concepts in a way that makes sense. There are many opportunities for exam practice questions; start them early, and ask for help on questions you don't understand at office hours. Dr. Pollet wants her students to do well and creates an environment that fosters success!
Professor Pollet explains the concepts in class very concisely through her powerpoints and makes organic chemistry more engaging than ever, but my opinion could be biased as a chemE major
Dr. Pollet is one of the best professors I have had at Georgia Tech. She is extremely helpful and goes to lengths to make sure her students are doing well. The class is challenging and needs attention to make sure you do well in it, but having Dr. Pollet makes it remarkably manageable.
Probably the best professor you will have! Very funny and witty, and she structures the class so that you will have every opportunity to succeed. I didn't get to skip the final, but I loved the class and worked hard. This class is very hard and you need to study weeks in advance even, but you'll enjoy Dr. Pollet as a professor.
If all of my chem professors were like Dr. P I wouldn't be so worried about those classes. She is an amazing teacher and truly cares about her students. Her lectures are actually somewhat entertaining. Definitely one of my favorite professors at Tech.
Dr. Pollet is probably the best professor I've had so far. She's witty and engaging but also makes sure you know the course content very well. Her office hours and review are very helpful, I would definitely recommend her for Orgo I.
Dr. Pollet is an incredible professor who really cares about her students. The class is tough for obvious reasons, but she does her best to help all students succeed. Make sure you don't fall behind on the material, and use the many resources she has provided. Overall, I definitely recommend her if you want to have a good grasp of orgo.
This class is hard and while she explains things well-ish, there's still a lot of concepts and things that aren't well explained, which leaves a lot of holes so you will want to read the textbook and find another source to help you. You can also look forward to having your homework questions ignored on Piazza so make friends with your classmates.
I believe she is a good professor, but had a harder time transitioning to online. The units were taught out of order, and lectures could get confusing. The tests are difficult and long, but you can bring your grade up with homework and participation. A 70 is the minimum for a B which makes it a manageable class.
I'm sure Dr. Pollet is great in the in-person setting, but virtual learning with her was not the best. Throughout the semester, she shut down student feedback from mid-semester surveys and was unresponsive to some concerns. She does have pretty long tests but provides lots of study resources. Be sure to do homework and participate!
She gave 11 to 14 page tests and got mad that no one was submitting it within an hour. She'd start talking in french during class, and I still don't know what a constitutional isomer is.
Pollet cares about her students and is very approachable, but the class is HARD. You genuinely have to do practice problems every day, review material, and go to office hours/PLUS to do well, which isn't realistic for all. The class has a weird curve, and a 50 on every exam gets you a B (but getting a 50 is HARD). Failing averages on every exam.
Dr. Pollet is really nice and gave several extra credit opportunities throughout the semester which helped. Overall, the class is really difficult and the pace is really fast so falling behind is really easy. You will definitely need outside resources to help because the lectures aren't enough to understand all the material.
1315 goes hard and fast. You can't skip a single day. But prof explains things VERY well. You just got to put in the work. And make sure you go to recitation and PRACTICE, but she gives you all of the practice problems and tools you need to succeed.
I really enjoyed taking Dr. Pollet's class. She is an absolutely enjoyable teacher and really knows what she's talking about - she was really funny and caring about her students. I also liked the structure of the class. As long as you understand the material (which I found incredibly hard) you'll be okay. The grading scale is friendly.
Professor Pollet is great. Lots of resources and great accessibility. The class structure is not as great. All questions on the weekly quizzes are of random difficulty and the tests have unclear grading criteria. It doesn't help that Orgo I is one of the hardest classes in general (though, the steep grading curve and exam exemption is very useful).
I loved taking CHEM 2311 with Dr. Pollet! It's a tough class for sure, but her lectures are informative and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend reading the textbook as a supplement The tests and quizzes can be frustrating as quizzes are random and test grading is not too clear, but that is more of a reflection on TAs. Highly recommend Pollet!!
The subject is tough, but Pollet's lectures are great (but only if you come prepared to class). The quizzes were horrible - it was more luck than studying that determined your grade. The questions were random, so students had quizzes of different difficulties. Test were extremely difficult; the lowest test is dropped if you don't exempt the final.
Yes, Pollet is witty and fun, but that doesn't make up for her lack of teaching. Seriously be prepared to learn all the material by yourself. She does offer a good bit of extra credit which is nice, but you're ultimately stuck learning organic chemistry on your own. Weekly quizzes are 5 questions. Exams are take-home and the final is in-person.
She is really funny and caring, but the tests can be really hard and arbitrary. The class is half flipped: half videos at home and half content in lecture. She's overall good though, but not an easy A.
Dr. Pollett is clearly an expert, but not a fantastic lecturer. She is not a bad teacher, but this class structure is very harsh and the only thing that saves it is the fact that a 70 is a B. Her exams are incredibly difficult with tough rubrics and her quizzes tend to be completely random. Overall not a bad choice for orgo 1, but be ready to work.
Shes hilarious and engaging! The tests are difficult, as expected in orgo, but her grading is forgiving (in the end, not in the moment). Shes really passionate about what she does and she has such a quick wit that keeps you engaged.
Dr. Pollet is a very fun and engaging lecturer. Her lectures can be very heavy, but they are not tedious. She uses PRS system for class participation and you have to get answers correctly to get the full points. Her tests can be quite hard and she doesn't give a lot of partial credit. There are extra credit assignments but they were worth 0.02%
Very friendly and approachable, made a tough premed class easy to digest. Lectures were super informative. In-class PRS/TurningPoint questions are graded (no bucket system), but 90+ is achievable since you can collaborate with neighbors. You can skip the final if you average 90+ on the quizzes and 4 midterms. Extra credit with discussion forums.
Dr. Pollet is one of my favorite professors at Tech. She is a great lecturer and explains things well, and has a great sense of humor and personality that makes them very enjoyable. It is clear she cares about her students and her work deeply. Tests are very difficult, but expected because it's ochem. Can exempt the final if you have an A average.
I can barely understand what she says and she gets annoyed when students misunderstand her or ask questions in class. She expects you to just know everything and has an attitude. Very unapproachable and has in class participation questions for accuracy. The tests are extremely hard and she does not prepare you for them.
TAKE POLLET!! SHE'S THE BEST Course was hard as expected, but she really cares and makes an effort to help students learn and succeed. Awesome office hours and lectures, I wish I could take her for orgo 2 but she doesn't teach it. She also gives opportunities for ec and bonuses. As long as you put the work and have determination you'll make it out.
As far as gt classes go its not bad. It's a lot of people's first more abstract/conceptual class so that is why orgo gets a bad reputation but professor pollet gives a ton of resources to be able to learn. I showed up to class did the homeworks and studied only the night before for the exams and got an in the class. Exempting the final is harder.
Dr. Pollet is a professor that you'd want to hang out with. She is witty and always has interactive lectures. But she does not do a good job explaining concepts and many times skips the basics, so studying before lecture is recommended. There are many EC opportunities so don't fret a bad test grade. Also, you can exempt the final.
Really great professor, she definitely knows her stuff. Also, Dr. Pollet has a lot of experience teaching orgo 1 at tech, so she knows how to teach this class as well as I could've asked for. This is a difficult class and an A average on 4 exams and 10 quizzes lets you exempt the final. Do the practice tests before each exam and you'll be fine
Dr. Pollet is a great choice for CHEM 2311! Orgo is a hard course alone, and will be a course you will need to fight for your grade. The thing that saves most students is that a 70 is a B, but an A is 88, so you need to work for the A. Easy to pick up extra points, like participation, homework, and quizzes. Lowest midterm is dropped. Would retake!
Dr. Pollet is super sweet and witty, very thorough with her material and also understanding with her students. Most of the issues I had with the class were with the design of the class itself/course load, but she was really nice regardless. Participation holds a lot of weightage in this class, so go to class!
Dr. Pollet is a great choice for the course. She makes lecture engaging, she's extremely knowledgeable on the content, and has A LOT of supplemental material and videos that are great for practice and mastery of the content. She does go a bit fast during lecture, but do the HW, practice a lot, watch her pre-lecture vids, and you'll be great!
Great professor and extremely helpful. Definitely take her for chem 2311 over any other professor. Class is hard but A is doable with built in extra credit, weighting, lowest grade forgiveness, etc.
She does a really great job during lectures of explaining everything, but her tests are hard. I would say that she knows her class is hard, but she definitely makes it possible to get an A. She has a lot of study resources though to succeed.
Dr. Pollet is one of the best professors I've had. As a person, she is extremely caring and hilarious. Her class is hard, but it is possible to get an A if you use additional resources outside of class. The tests are very difficult but partial credit helps.
Dr. Pollet was an excellent professor and by far the best professor I have had at Tech. The class was difficult as any chemistry class is expected to be, but she made it easy and engaging allowing me to learn and enjoy the class. Her and the two TAs this semester were very helpful and accessible. The plus leader was also great.
I absolutely love Professor Pollet. She made organic chemistry (a very tough subject), easy to digest and even enjoyable. There is a bit of homework but nothing crazy. Unlike other professors, she doesn't rely on lecture videos outside of class to teach the material. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities and is super understanding and nice.
The bulk of information is included in pre lecture videos, which in my opinion didn't do a great job of explaining material. Probably necessary to do some work on your own in order to understand the material fully.
Great lecturer. Clear assignments and expectations. Gives extra credit on exams. Can exempt final and is manageable to exempt as well. Use orgo as a second language textbook rather than the course textbook, makes life much easier. Dr. Pollet was always accessible by email or in person as she would always hold office hours before lectures.
Pollet is truly the best at Gatech, she genuinely cares about her students and finds a way to make Orgo fun. She offers a LOT of extra credit, so it's quite easy to get an A/B in the class even with terrible test scores. Sidenote: she has a strong French accent, so for those who are not really fluent in English it might be hard to understand her.
Dr.Pollet was overall a great and caring professor. Her lecture style might not appeal to some, as she goes through most of her content in pre-lecture videos, and then goes less in-depth in class, mainly with with an in-class question-based approach. She gives tons of extra credit, is accessible outside of class, and can explain topics well.
Dr. Pollet cares about her students and wants them to do well. Exams can be tough but there are a lot of extra credit opportunities. Her lectures are interactive and make you want to learn more. Would definitely take again.
I love her lectures, but the content goes by QUICK. You need to be on top of things or you will fall behind. Some people don't like her lectures because she speaks to you as if you are an organic chemist which works for some (like me) and not so well for others. Grading is reasonable and you get good partial credit. There is final exemption.
chef's kiss
Dr. Pollet is extremely caring and flexible, but orgo 1 is going to be hard regardless. Sometimes her lectures can be confusing, but her tests are fair and she offers tons of extra credit.
Dr Pollet is a great teacher, but her lectures can be confusing and poorly organized at times. However, she tries her best to make orgo as intuitive and doable as possible. She offers tons of extra credit and is very caring. Would definitely take again.
Dr. Pollet is one of my favorite professors at Tech. She is super caring and her lectures are always extremely helpful and fun. She's truly passionate about orgo and does everything she can to share that passion with her students. She has extra credit and an opportunity to exempt the final with an A. Orgo is a hard class, but she makes it so easy.
I am not smart and did bad in gen chem. Dr. Pollet explained things so well in lectures-- she didn't expect you to have any prior knowledge and explained things from the basics. There was so much practice in lectures and barely anything was on the test that we didn't explicitly go over in class. SO much extra credit too and an 88 counted as an A.
Dr. Pollet is bad at lecturing and the class is poorly unorganized. She spends a great amount of time on things we do not need to know for the test.
Dr. Pollet is among the best professors at Georgia Tech. She takes organic chemistry, a known difficult subject, and makes it enjoyable and almost entertaining. You can tell she truly enjoys the concepts she is teaching and that makes a world of difference to a student. If you get the opportunity to take her for CHEM 2311, do it without hesitation.
Dr. Pollet is one of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. She speaks chemistry like it's a language. She takes her time going through her lecture slides, constantly asking questions and pushing you to learn deeper. One of the nicest people I have ever met, she could probably fail me and I would say thank you.
Dr. Pollet is passionate about organic chemistry. It makes the class more engaging for the students.
Dr. Pollet is a great lecturer and her orgo class is more than fair when it comes to opportunity via final exemption and test drop. The TA's grading were a little off at times but the rest of the class was fantastic.
Pollet was an amazing prof and I loved her lectures. Orgo 1 was difficult and I often had issues with the TAs grading my exams but I enjoyed every minute of lecture. Would definitely recommend Pollet, but be prepared to put a lot of effort into this class.
Prof. Pollet is a great instructor (a slight accent but not too difficult to understand) and allows you to exempt the final as well. The course and tests are fast-paced but very achievable.
The best prof I have ever had, the orgo is hard regardless but she makes it infinitely better. She is the prof that got me to switch my major to chem. She is truly that inspirational. She is also quite funny, her accent can make it a little hard at times, but not an obstacle of concern at all.
Dr. Pollet is an incredible professor. Needed an 88 for an A and a 70 for a B. Opportunity for 5% extra credit. Made orgo enjoyable by breaking down complicated topics into an easily digestible manner. Possible to exempt the final, but the final is generally more difficult than the midterms. Practice problems are the best way to learn.
Dr. Pollet teaches orgo as if its poetry - as someone a little hesitant about taking this class, she made it very easy to comprehend. She's super approachable for questions too, but you definitely need to practice orgo outside of class if you want to do well.
I am happy with my grade in the class, but being in the hybrid course, I don't feel that the once a week studios necessarily helped me all that much. There was incredible amount of work I had to do outside of class to learn the content. The extra credit opportunities were nice though, and the exams were pretty fair.
Dr. Pollet was an amazing teacher who greatly improved my appreciation and understanding of organic chemistry. She is passionate about the subject and that shines through in her teaching, which helps her students succeed. She is a fair teacher who listens to her students and genuinely wants everyone to succeed in the course.
Awesome professor but the class is built for students who are strong in chem. If you have struggled in Chem, be prepared to do a good amount of work outside of class. Pollet explains things very well and the textbook is super easy to understand. All of our exam averages were in the 70s. Her grading scheme has a 70 as a B, so you'll definitely pass.
She makes orgo 1 so easy. She isn't really a geat lecturer, I learned all my content through the Wiley textbook (great textbook btw). There's one homework and quiz every week, all graded for accuracy but multiple attmpets on hw and 2 on the quiz. Exams are very easy if you study past exams. she reuses lots of past questions for MC. Take her!
dr pollet was a joy to have as a professor! she is very funny, and i always looked forward to her lectures. i can thank her for having an amazing orgo 1 experience. her class is very straightforward, and she makes it clear what she expects. plenty of practice exams, and final exam exemption is available if you get an A average on exams.
Dr. Pollet was very nice and cared A LOT about orgo. That being said, her lectures weren't always the greatest, but still got you everything you needed to know. She offers a good bit of extra credit, and I think the tests were fair. Lots of resources outside of class.
Amazing professor for orgo! She cares more about you learning the content than trying to get a specific letter grade. She has a lot of things in place to help you succeed in the course and the practice tests helped a lot. She goes over content fast in lecture but other than that it was a great course.
Expected students to spend 9-12 hours outside of class reviewing lectures, and additional time doing homework and assignments. The exams were tricky, and the review guides were misleading. I had to hire a tutor outside of the school because the orgo team was not very helpful and often did not seem happy to help:(
She was a wonderful teacher- after the horrors of gen chem I was worried, but she genuinely made orgo such an easy topic and tried really hard to help everyone. She has a ton of built in cushioning with grading, so even if you do bad on an exam you won't be affected too harshly. Was really funny and really prepares you for orgo 2. Take her asap
Funny, passionate lecturer. Makes a hard subject much more interesting. Lots of practice problems during lectures, which is needed for orgo. Highly recommend.
For as hard as I heard orgo was, Pollet made it much more manageable and understandable. It still takes a lot of work to stay caught up, and to get lecture credit with the online in class questions you do have to go to lecture, but the work was what I expected and Pollet was a good teacher.
Makes organic chemistry a very enjoyable and understandable topic than it seems. Extra credit opportunities and can exempt the final. She is very knowledgable and is super caring to her students!
Made lectures interesting and knew material well. The studio section (no in person lectures) can be difficult because it's a lot of self-teaching, but she posts a lot of supplementary resources, and she and the TAs host several office hours/recitations each week.
Dr. Pollet is very good at organic chemistry, and the overall class structure was great. Yet, she is very easily angered and seem to get more strict and discourteous to students as the semester went on. If you do practice tests attend lecture you will be fine. She does leave some key topics out of lecture and requires videos at home.
Pollet is a great lecturer and makes organic chemistry very easy to understand, using lots of practice problems and examples for participation credit in lecture. She is engaging, and TAs are tons of help in lecture and outside. It is easy to feel confused in class, though, since she covers content quickly and moves to examples. Study outside class.
I was expecting to struggle because in the first place orgo isn't easy, but I do think Dr. Pollet does an amazing job at thoroughly explaining the concepts, reactions, and how to approach problems on exams and assignments. She and TAs do a good job of "brain-washing" and pounding concepts into your head so you'll remember things better. Loved her!
Absolutely amazing teacher. In order to do well in this class you have to put in a lot of work but it is very worth it. Opportunity to exempt the final if you do well enough and the exams are not unreasonable. Lot's of outside of class practice and practice to get better. She is incredibly sweet and caring too. 10/10!!
Dr. Pollet made Orgo 1 actually doable. There is a lot of preparation for the exams, and if you go to recitation/exam review sessions you can easily succeed in this course. Dr. Pollet cares a lot, is funny, and keeps the content interesting. 10/10 recommend
Orgo is a notoriously hard class, but from the start Dr. Pollet laid out exactly what was needed to do well with fair grading. The exams are similar to the practice - she is not a teacher who tries to "trick" you. She is extremely accessible outside of class and is one of the kindest individuals I have met. If you put in the work, you will succeed!
I didn't think that you could get a chem prof better than Shepler but wow, Pollet surpassed all my expectations. Her lectures are incredible (she's hilarious) and she's always super helpful in office hours. Very fair grading scheme & TAs are also by far the best I've seen (shoutout Nathan + Ariane!). Lot of work but I looked forward to every class.
I love Dr. P. I think I did so well because everything was super clear on how to succeed. On day 1, she said to practice everything and utilize all the resources given. You have a lot of resources, but they all are really helpful in their own way. Also, just do the extra credit. You'll thank yourself later. TAs are the best too.
Super passionate and incredible professor. Orgo is hard, but she makes it doable. Old exams and recitation packets sometimes contain problems nearly identical to the actual exams. Go to recitation and do the extra credit. Do not fall behind in this class. Ask her for clarification after lectures, she's good at explaining. Great TAs.
Orgo is def a hard class in general but Prof. Pollet did a good job at making class engaging. I took the hybrid section and I would not recommend it if ur not a self learner and can stay on task with a majority online component, because I def should be utilized my time a bit better. Lots of study material is provided and attendance is mandatory.
DO NOT take the async class if possible, I did not have a choice and really regret it. She is a caring professor who is very knowledgeable but her videos were so unclear and I rarely got anything out of them. Some of the exams I took had questions I had never seen in my life...first time I ever studied and felt horrible after taking exam
She is a good chemistry professor who wants her students to do well. There was a TON of extra credit given throughout the semester, that you didn't have to do too well on exams to get an A. However lectures are kinda disorganized. She jumps in the topic and goes too fast without giving a brief overview.
Dr. Pollet is genuinely one of the best professors I've ever had. She makes organic chemistry easy to learn. She is extremely accessible outside of class and gives amazing support when you ask for clarification. If you are taking orgo 1 try to get her.
The instructor doesn't provide much guidance. The lectures feel more like information dumps than actual teaching, which makes it hard to grasp the concepts.
Took the hybrid course with her (attendance required once a week & Thursday exam session). Lectures are engaging & informative. In hybrid state, reading the textbook is CRUCIAL as there is only so much she can cover in an hour per week. Lowest exam of 4 is dropped. Online hw and quiz per week. You can dodge the final if exams total is high enough.
Nice but strict lady. French accent but not so heavy you can't understand. Called me out for not doing classwork during class (I was reading the textbook instead of doing practice problems) but the next week she asked if I was feeling better and more prepared. Her answer keys are hard to decipher. Extremely lenient grading scale (super easy B).
Pollet is a pretty epic teacher. She has a wonderful french accént and tests are fine. They're often similar to the practice tests with the exception of the occasional curveball. Pollet does however like giving out extra credit for CIOS and midterm surveys. The PRS can be annoying at times as attendance and correctness matters but ok.
Pollet is great! Very easy to get a B if you attend most/all of the classes (PRS-based system). The class is set up for you to succeed - take advantage of recitations. It goes a little fast after synthesis, so be prepared.
She is the sweetest teacher ever! She truly wants all of her students to succeed and does so much to help. Her practice tests are amazing and the key to doing well in this class. The course picks up a lot after the second exam, so be prepared but definitely a doable A and a very easy B.
She is so great with her lecturing style! She makes it clear what she is looking for, and she is very available to her students. The course itself is difficult, but she makes it as easy as she can. She is super sweet, and I would recommend taking this class with her!
Orgo is a hard subject, but she makes it as digestible as possible. Exams are (mostly) like the practice materials she posts, and the grading scheme is structured so that getting an A is very manageable and a B is almost guaranteed.
Pollet makes Organic Chemistry, one of the hardest college classes easy. Amazing lecturer, and even if you are not good at paying attention to lecture (such as me) she offers SO many asynchronus materials that it doesnt really matter. So many practice resources if you put the work in you can succeed. Final is ACS which is hard but can exempt.
Orgo is hard, but she makes it worth it! Super helpful with all content and really cares about students well being and grades in general. If you get the opportunity, definitely take her for orgo!
Pollet is the absolute goat of organic chemistry, and it makes such a daunting class feel very simple. If you go to class, attend recitation, and do everything that's expected of you (as clearly outlined in the syllabus and weakly threads), an A is more than doable.
