DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF YOU CAN HELP IT!!! i had to drop this class bc i could not keep up with all the homework. i had more work to do in this class than in my math class. Dr. Sibley lives and breathes english! nice lady but she did not ever make since and she lost me during every lecture. take my word for it and do not sign up for her class!
There is a lot of work and most of the essays at the beginnings are graded tough, however she has letters and other papers to boost your grade. She grades the research paper fairly easy
If you attend class and don't get behind, you can easily get an A.
She is a very hard grader!! Gives an extreme ammount of homework. You will have homework due every class. Does not make since when she teaches, and is very boring! Is not helpful and does not explain her assignments very well. Very nice lady though. She is very much hardcore on grammar and writting!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She changes her due dates for assignments pretty much every week. She says that she wants to help, but when you ask her for help she becomes mean and doesn't listen.
I HATED going to this class! My entire day was great until I had to see her. She gave a lot of homework and it honestly was too much to meet the deadlines. She grades brutal! She's boring and is what one would call a female dog. I dropped this class because of my low grade, I felt terrible at the end of the day, and because it was very stressful!
Excellent teacher. This class actually makes you form your own thoughts and opinions. Take her if you can, but be prepared to work!

Yes she grades hard, but for someone who usually struggles in English I pulled off a B with mediocre effort. She switches up due dates alot, but its only for your benefit. A few asignments to boost your grade and she grades the research paper EASY. Fairly boring, but what 1301 class isn't? I would re-take her if she taught 1302.
Dr. Sibley is easily one of the best teachers at Blinn. If you need to take an English credit, definitely look up what she is teaching. This course had a long reading list, and all works were read (not excerpts..the entire works.) Be prepared to write a lot but don't be discouraged if you don't get the A. She's a fair teacher.
I loved Dr. Sibley! She is really nice and it seems like she truly cares about the students. There is a lot of reading but honestly I didn't read a single book and managed to pull an A. Lots of in-class writing but she gives easy assignments that help bump your grade. Take her! You won't regret it.
Very nice professor who obviously cares about her students. She encourages everyone to ask for help on assignments, and she's very helpful when you do so. My only real complaints are she grades very harshly, and she only checks her e-mail during office hours, so if you need help over the weekend, you're out of luck.
You can tell Dr. Sibley absolutely loves what she teaches I learned more from her class than any other English class I have taken. If you donâ??t understand something then all you have to do is ask her, just donâ??t interrupt her while she is talking. She changed the due dates all the time but it was to the students benefit.

Don't listen to these other reviews complaining about her. They are just upset that they didn't receive the grade they think they "deserved".She is a very wise teacher. The way she assigns her projects actually helps you towards your final research paper. I loved this. Follow directions and attend class and you'll make a B or higher
She was a great teacher! She grades VERY hard on essays but is VERY helpful. Don't wear a cap in her class and don't talk while she is talking and you'll get along great!
Literally the rudest professor I have ever had the unfortunate of dealing with for a whole semester. She's judgemental, rude, and spends way too much time talking about herself and her personal life. Not helpful or compassionate whatsoever. I never missed class yet learned nothing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Grades very strictly and is difficult to talk to outside of the classroom. Good extra credit opportunities at the end of the course but not the most pleasant teacher to be around. Not a terrible option but there is tons of work so I would recommend asking around about another teacher!
Dr. Sibley is a tough grader, HOWEVER, she's a great prof. Easy extra credit, and if you exceed expectations on assignments, you will get a good grade. She is very involved; lots of handouts and email communication. She assigns a lot of reading, but most of the material is actually really good. Highly recommended if you actually want to learn.

She is a hard grader but does somewhat help if you ask for it. She's just one of those teachers who puts too much of their personal opinions into their class. You will have to write about food like pesticides and genetically modified food so if you don't like focusing on that then DO NOT take her class. I honestly wouldn't ever recommend her.
If you want to talk about genetically modified food, pesticides and factory farms all year, write every paper about the one topic you choose at the beginning of the year, talk about that topic until you never want to hear about it again, and learn nothing about English, this class is for you. English was one of my favorite subjects until now

Good professor, but very harsh grader. If you aren't capable of writing multiple perfect essays, don't take her. Not the easiest person to get along with, but she does try to work with you. She does try to make you feel less than when you ask questions though.
Other students in my class struggled with her, but if you simply follow her instructions and what she expects (which she clearly explains) then you will get an A. I am not an English major by any means, but I know how to follow instructions. Plus, if you go to her for help she sees this eagerness and is more lenient with you.
She is a phenomenal professor! I was iffy when I started the class, but she is simply wonderful. I would take the class again for fun! The only reason I hada b is that I didn't follow her instructions to the T on the final paper. Love her.
Not very clear on what should be done, but is willing to clarify if you ask. The second paper is really long and is more like a junior class paper for english majors. Plus she basically has you write on the errors of food production because it's what she wants to hear.
She is a decent professor but I certainly wouldn't recommend her to anybody. Every paper you write will be about food production. You have no other options. So unless you're extremely interested in that kind of stuff, I would recommend taking someone else. She's also a tough grader. She refuses to give anybody an A on a paper. Horrible experience.
She is an awesome woman. I am taking her next semester again for Engl. 1302. We had great communication through out the semester. She literally helped me write one of my papers pretty much because she is so excited to get to work closely with her students. But, no, she won't take crap from anybody that didn't work towards their essays.
One of the best professors I've had. She is very helpful with essays if you show that you are trying your hardest. Made an 87 on my research paper. She didn't worry to much about Grammar but mostly on content and how connections were made on the essays and research papers. Study study study the vocabulary. It helps so much when you take tests.
She's a very sweet lady and truly does want the best for her students! There are no tests except the semester exam, but you do have three papers due through out the semester. She is very willing to help and gives you feedback for anything and everything you want, sometimes without even having to ask! Love her even though i'm not a fan of writing.

Dr. Sibley's class was an excellent experience. I finished her class a much better writer and my ability to research topics improved. I would describe her class as challenging but very fair. She is a nice person and will help you with anything you need during office hours.
Dr. Sibley was one of the sweetest professors I have ever had! She is a very, very tough grader. I thought I was a good writer and then I failed my first paper and realized I was not that great. Pay really close attention to the format of your paper and know how to cite everything correctly. There are almost no tests but 4 or 5 papers.
She is kinda waky but she really does care about her students and their success. She will make you read a lot and write even more but just talk to her and she will work with you.

Dr. Sibley is the sweetest person you will ever meet! Always very friendly and willing to help. However, you have to read and pay attention during discussions or you won't do well on the tests. Also, be prepared to write a lot of papers and make sure to have the format correct. She grades really hard when it comes to correct formatting.

She offers many extra credit opportunities, but doing the extra credit will not determine if you receive the extra credit. I would not take her again, but she's not the worst english prof. on campus. Particular about grading, but helpful and understanding. Emergency absences are usually excused if there's a good reason. Passionate about the material. Not always accepting of other understandings of the work, but willing to listen. Always looking for better ways to teach a subject; creative use of group work. Lots of writing, but worth it.
Dr Sibley is honestly a very sweet lady and she cares about what she is teaching. This is by far not an easy class and she will make you work for your grade. It is possible to make an A, just be ready to work. She offers some extra credit but do not bank on it.
very old school, you must take off your hat in class, if your phone rings you are to be dismissed. allows extra credit only if you can do it perfect or else its nothing. If your major is in English than it perfect for you. if you work, go to school, and not majoring in English, please avoid these extra assignments if you have a lot on your plate.
She has more papers than she can grade, sadly we had to wait 3 weeks later to give us a major grade assignment back. Avoid this professor if English is not your major
Dr. Sibley is a very good professor, be prepared to read a lot and write a lot. She does have a few vocabulary quizzes, and in class response papers plus out of class papers. Does give a lot of extra credit to help get grades up. Does give good written feed back on any assignment given. I would recommend but wouldn't slack off.
Dr. Sibley is a great professor. She truly does care about her students and wants you to pass. I've always struggled with English classes but Dr. Sibley made English much more understandable for me and I will be taking her 1302 class in the spring!
Mrs. Sibley tests my patience, not my intelligence. She gave me a 0 on a paper for not tearing the fringe off my notebook paper neatly. She grades hard and 10% of my overall grade is based on handwriting. I have awful handwriting, but im in college not kindergarten! She will look for any and every way to make your grade worse. Dr. Sibley is a very caring prof don't get me wrong, but i've always been considered a good writer, even scoring a 7/8 in writing on my TSIA, but she makes me feel as it i don't know my ABCs. she gives lots of daily grades but it doesnt make up for the fact that i was given a 70 on a paper because "i didn't show enough passion." dont do it.
She did not explain why she gave me the grade on my paper. She assigned a paper every week.
For the first time in my life someone actually is taking the time to teach me how to really write well. Dr. Sibley is brilliant, but nice. She has always answered my email questions promptly, got my papers back in a reasonable time, and been available in here office when I had questions. Her one on one scheduled student conferences are amazing!
I really loved her class. She's smart, interesting, sweet, and really willing to help students succeed. She's not going to give you a grade you don't work for, but gives you plenty of chances, and no assignment is weighted too heavy if you bomb (I did!) Besides, there's extra credit. I loved her class and want to take her ENGL2323 next semester.

Avoid Dr. Sibley at all costs. She has mentioned before that students deserve C's because that's the "average" person. She didn't exaggerate when she said it, because now I have my first B, maybe C, and I had a 4.0 until now. If I wanted to learn the material myself, I wouldn't have paid to have a prof teach it to me. A poor excuse of a prof.
Dr. Sibley is really passionate about the subject but she's a really tough grader. I have always been told I was a good writer but she made me feel the complete opposite of that. I personally didn't find many of the reading interesting so I struggled but make sure to take notes during lecture bc that's mainly where possible test answers come up.

An amazing professor. You absolutely cannot go wrong with taking her class. Those who don't like her are the ones who did not put in the effort needed. I wish she offered another class I would definitely take her again. also... amazing lectures. The readings were all interesting.
It has been a blessing to have Dr. Sibley as my professor. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. She has very high expectations, but I have never felt more accomplished in earning the grade I did. She is extremely encouraging and very helpful. One of the rudest professors you will ever have is a hard grader with no clear criteria when you go to her with questions she bashes you without giving actual help/advice. You have constant papers to write and at the end of the semester you have a 2600-3000 word paper due. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
The first day stated all students are C students until proven otherwise, very rude and doesn't teach in class simply throws papers at you and expects you to write without further explanation. Very rude and uncaring of personal situations, kind heart but rude professor.
Professor Sibley is a very nice lady, but is a very rude, unhelpful professor. She expects all of her students to be on the same level as she is with writing, and gives little to no direction for assignments. In this class you start out with a C unless you are a phenomenal writer. Extremely rude and degrading when asked a question, and almost expects you to be able to read her mind. Save your GPA and take another teacher.

Last semester I received an email from one of my professors informing me how much he enjoyed my essay, and I wrote the best essay in the class. But in Dr. Sibley's class, I was pleased with a C paper because she was so tough.

Pamela at first will seem like she cares for her students, you'll soon learn that's a lie. She's passive-aggressive, unforgiving, and will never be satisfied with your papers. She failed the whole class, except for four students on the first big paper. She does not allow electronics and does graded textbook checks. Do not take her.

Way to nitpicky with grading and takes points off for the most RIDICULOUS reasons and does not give clear instructions whatsoever. I would not recommend this teacher unless you want to become insecure in your writing abilities.

Do not take her class. She says that getting a 70 in her class is considered good and, on one of the main papers, claims that she "is not a resource" and you cannot go to her for help. If you get stuck with her, do the reading, go to class, take advantage of the extra credit (the only good thing about her class) because you will need it.
If you think you're a decent writer, this class will make you think again. Mrs. Sibley will basically grade your homework and quizzes to her liking regardless of any grading policies. She presents herself as being better than her students and the other professors. I'm telling you now, save your sanity and do NOT take this professor.

Dr. Sibley does have high standards for her class, which is completely reasonable. Why bother taking the course if you don't have an intent to become a better writer? She does give a lot of opportunity for extra credit. It's a good idea to do the homework and utilize the writing centre for help.
By far the worst professor I've had. Graded based on vibes, not the rubric. Nothing was ever good enough. I told her I wanted to be a writer and she told me I'd never make it. She rambled about her off-grid life and claimed “Olympia” was her real Christian name. Super weird, super unprofessional.. How is she still a professor?!
