GREAT teacher, you will learn alot in her class. Her tests are a little on the hard side, but if you study ALL of the notes (which she GIVES you!), you can easily make a good grade. She is also extremely funny. Take her!
very fun during lectures. totally enjoyed her class
Cusses like a sailor
GREAT TEACHER.makes learning FUN!

She was tough, but it was worth it. Very funny, she gets off-color (which I love) and invites sarcasm- just beware, she'll toss it right back!
This is the only history class I have ever taken that wasn't so boring that it put me to sleep. Her tests are hard but if you listen in class you will do fine.
Great teacher! She really cares.. Curses alot, but only when she feels strongly about something.. Very opinionated and sticks to her beliefs. Tests are difficult, but she gives you her notes online, so her lectures are very easy to follow, and all tests are based on those notes. Highly reccomend to those who like or dislike history!
tests are hard, but come from notes. Grades easy on paper. Very abrasive sense of humor. Does not like you if you are quiet or if you dont come to class. Not necessary to read the book cause the tests are from the notes, but she likes discussion.
Shes HILARIOUS and an AMAZING prof! she makes u look forward to class! i took extra history classes just bc of her--shes NOT easy though!

I loved Mrs. West. She was great and very helpful. I recommend her to anyone. She isn't easy but she is a very good professor. Anything you have questions with she will anwser them. She makes coming to class fun.
She is easily the funniest teacher I have ever had. She really does make going to class fun. She also makes you learn though. Her tests aren't easy, but study the notes and you'll do fine. Her language is colorful, and she's quite sarcastic, but that's par
Loved her class! Her tests were hard but I learned a lot and class was tons of fun!
Great prof.- she's very helpful and lots of fun. I wish I had taken her in a classroom setting, she is so funny!
I loved her!! I had her for summer school and she is HILARIOUS!! :)
Amazing professor; very funny-- had a blast in her class and learned something at the same time. An overall wonderful instructor
Mrs. West is the best professor I have ever had. Being a Social sciences Ed. major, she has done nothing but encourage me to continue my pursuit.
Mrs. West is a hilarious teacher. She is hard, however. You better read all the assigned material, especially the notes. The test questions are pretty difficult. She does care for her students and understands problems. I loved her as a teacher and I would definately recommed her to anyone. Don't even attempt to cheat. She has a deal with those ink-
I love Mrs. West. She makes history come alive. She understands family and personal issues, and helps you alot. She has a deal with the ink blob demons from the movie "Ghost." They come and take away cheaters for her!
I don't know about everyone else, but she was a tyrant!Although she was a good teacher as far as presenting material was concerned, she was an obnoxious person. She had a few breif shining funny moments, but mostly she was condescending and downright mean. I wouldn't recommend taking her class unless you are a gluton for punishment!
She is a great teacher! =]
I am a history major and I currently attend a university where I am exposed to a lot of different teaching styles of history, I would put Mrs. West up against any one of them. She's the best lecturer in Alabama!!!!
She was very concerned with student's success, but the tests were VERY hard
Mrs. West is a funny lady, & a good teacher. Her lectures could easily be boring since all of the notes are already printed out, but she makes it interesting & holds your attention. Her tests really aren't hard if you STUDY. Do your h/w & extra credit- It could save you. Take her class, if you don't mind listening to her obnoxious Republican rants.
The best teacher I've had in years. Still influences me to this day. I would HIGHLY recommend her classes
Makes history not so boring
ONLINE HIS 201: I'm not a HIS major;I took her online course. Go to the orientation, she gives you tips for test taking. The work load is heavy, BUT she gives you a month to complete it. Two tests, mid/final. Study the notes she provides, using her tips. I missed one 25pt extra credit, got Cs on both exams and still made a B. Very kind and prof.
The online history class wasn't easy. There were a large number of assignments for this class and the tests aren't that difficult, but the volume of material that is covered on them is what makes them hard. You are required to take the tests& final at the Jefferson campus-it was pain to drive out there to take them for an online class.
She is a very good teacher. Her tests are long with a lot of short answer and discussion questions that have to be answered with complete sentences, but she give a lot of extra credit assignments. She tries extremely hard to be funny and succeeds maybe 10% of the time. I don't understand why so many people think she's funny. I will take her again.
Her test are hard, I made a 76, 82, 65, and a 73, and still came out with an A. She gives alot of bonus, and is very helpful. Take her and not Boswell
Her internet course was easy. Homework and discussion questions for each unit and two exams, that's it. She tried to be funny while I was taking her final exam and ended up being downright insulting, made many inappropriate comments. Annoying professor, but an easy course to pass if you read the book and produce detailed assignments.
Mrs. West is the funniest teacher I have ever had. She cusses left and right and makes History so interesting. She tells the funniest stories! She gives out a lot of extra points and her tests aren't hard if you read her notes. Gives long breaks and you don't have to be there until 9:30 for mini-mester!
P. West is the bomb!!! Crazy as hell. I loved going to class, she brings history to life and teaches in a way you can actually remember. You also begin to care about the world around you. I can recall getting stuck on a test and closed my eyes and can invision her talking about one of the questions. To all, she is good and fair across the board.
I took HIS 201/202 online, and I must say, she is the most interesting professor I've had. Her tests are extremely hard; you basically have to memorize her notes and the textbook if you want to make an A (at least in the online class). However, she is very nice and wants you to succeed. Despite her difficulty, I made A's in both classes.
I took this online. She has a midterm and final, consisting of matching and short answer questions. The test come straight from the notes she provides online. You have to write 1 paper on a short book. She also gave 4 homework assignment that consisted of 5 questions but they were very time consuming. Not an easy A but a pretty easy B.
A great history teacher, she is a nut. Very passionate about history and makes you love it as well.
I did the online class, which was very good. You do need to be thorough when answering her questions. Her test come from notes and homework and discussion. Read read!!! You learn a lot from her class. I have become more interested in history, since taking her class.
Awsome, funny, and helpful teacher. the class is fun. Just study your notes and you will pass! :D Defidently a recomendation
I loved Professor West! I took the online class over the summer so it was shorter than a normal semester. As long as you read the assigned reading from the book and do the homework you will be fine. She also gives A TON of bonus work. Do it! I made an A in the class and have a new found interest in History!
I took HIS 201 with Mrs. West online and it was a piece of cake compared to other classes I've taken. As long as you read the notes and read the book, anyone should be able to make at least a B in her class. She likes her students to write a lot, so I think that's where some students struggle with her. Other than that, she's an excellent teacher.
Mrs. West is an extremely entertaining teacher who will keep you interested in her class. She was the highlight of my time at Jeff State, during a time in which I was pretty depressed. I didn't do super-well in her class, but that wasn't her fault, and given my frame of mind at the time it is amazing she held my attention at all. Thanks, Mrs. West.
Mrs. West is a wonderful teacher! She makes the class fun and very interesting. I would highly recommend her!
Tests were reasonable though they ONLY reflect the text and NOT ANY of her personal notes/lectures. She changed test dates and times frequently and made no apology for it. Required campus visits for our online class and had an attitude on her shoulder. I received exactly 3 emails from her all semester 2 of which moved the date of the final.
I don't think she should even e a teacher. She has a rude attitude. She doesn't help you at all and she doesn't even tell you what will be on your test.
She is a great teacher. I took my class online and wish I had not....the few times I had to go to her class to take a test, she made everything so interesting. She was great and gave extra credit to help you out.
I took Mrs. West online and it honestly is frustrating hardly being updated on grades but that is my only issue (but its also a summer class). She gives you what you need to know and it's just up to you to get it done. She really does know her facts and as long as you actually try, it isn't bad.
hard as hell give an impossible amount of work
I do not know what her situation was for the summer. I took her online and it was the hardest class I have ever taken, so far. The midterm, we had 24 hrs to write 4 essays and it took too long to receive our grades for anything. She wasn't really helpful either.
She was a great teacher to me. A little crazy but awesome. She gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities and a month to complete assignments, online class only. The midterm and final is hard but if you study well it is a wonderful class.
The first three days she talked about her being a born again christian. Then I witnessed her berate a student for a few minutes straight. It is obvious this woman has some neurotransmitter problems, in the scary/ intrusive way, not in the take meds and be balanced way. I dropped her for another professor as soon as I could.
This professor is very unprofessional. She has random tantrums and even though I recieved an "A"in her class, it was the hardest class to study for. Her tests are awful because you don't know what to really study about since she talks about everything. Best of luck if you have her!
I loved American History 101, but Ms. West changed my love of history real fast! She has no idea what she's doing! Her lectures are confusing and she often goes on these long rants about random crap (which might sound like fun, but when test time comes around you are screwed)!I feel like she means well, but often come off as obnoxious!
She is a great and funny teacher. She talks about her personal life a lot but overal I could not of asked for a better history teacher
She is a great and funny teacher. I would defiantly take her class again
Dr. West's test are not that hard but the homework questions, movie reviews, and extra credit assignments are hard. I would not recommend this teacher if you want to get an A in American History.
Worst teacher ever. Very inconsistent. I would wait for grades for 4-6 weeks on average! I would get an email from her about 4 weeks after turning in an assignment explaining why things weren't graded yet. Sounded like excuses to me. She doesn't respond to emails. Her tests are hard. Avoid if possible.
Mrs. West IS emotional like some reviews said. Can go from crying to laughing in a minute. But she gives you ALL of your assignments up front, no suprises, extra credit, and exams aren't bad. She LOVES history.
She expects you to learn. Make sure you memorize the notes for the exams. It's a lot of material. She took at least a month to grade homework and would give excuses. She was very emotional and was quick to jump all over you when the class met. I wouldn't suggest taking this class unless you're a history buff or you like to torture yourself.
This teacher is very rude. I took her online class for united states history. She always replies to my comments as if I have offended her (which I am very aware never to do with my teachers). She is strongly opinionated and her lecture notes and assignments always talked down to the students as if we are idiots. She obviously has a problem.
She is very "excited" about history. She will fly off the handle about random subjects, but she knows her stuff. 4 Units per semester encompassing one homework assignment, one film review, and generally one extra credit assignment (basically papers). Exam study entails reading and memorizing "class notes", bold words and ordered lists(1, 2, 3).
This teacher is absolutely useless if you take her online course. She constantly made excuses about why she had not uploaded grades & when I tried to contact her - 6 times over 3 weeks - she never once responded to my question. I had to drop the course since she never answered questions about the assignments. AVOID THIS TEACHER
No. Just, no. Her personal beliefs are more important than history, apparently. She once spent a whole class period showing us pictures from her Facebook page and crying the whole time. Other people have said that she knows her history, but she constantly gives incorrect informationdatesetc. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Don't forget a Day Online Finals (get time off from work if u have work) Typing a lot on the essays
Finals aka Long Essays
She's horrid. Never responds to emails. Takes forever to grade your homework. She uses vulgar language in class. Her syllabus is super confusing. Seriously the worst teacher I have ever had.
Syllabus & blackboard a complete mess. Unorganized & contradictory dates. Never removed last semesters dates so constant late notifications. Online class but requires you to report to campus for orientation, mid term, final, & to watch 2 movies. Does not return emails. I wish I had enough room to post the unprofessional communications from her.
Took online requires lots of reading and LONG essays, skimpy work equals skimpy grade. Go to both movie reviews for bonus at the end. She makes you think! Not to bad if you do all the assignments and extra credit.
She hardly showed up for class. I did not learn anything all year and her test were nothing like the material she taught.
If class is taken online, make sure you show up for all on campus classes that she schedules. She gives bonus and doesn't make you take the final exam if you show up for her scheduled movie days on campus. Very funny and interesting teacher.
I had Ms. West last semester for HIS 201, She had long lectures, but they were informative! Take notes even though she says you only have to have the outline! It will help you. Also, she is a tough grader, but a fair one. I had a few issues along way that she helped me with and I was SO thankful! Be respectful of her and she'll be nice in return!
She was so funny! I really enjoyed her class. She had passion for Western Civilization and you could tell through her lectures, which made it easy to learn. There are not very many assignments and the ones you do have are fair. She gives you all the notes she goes through in class in blackboard, so it is easy to follow through. I love her!
Ms. West is awesome. She is very passionate about history and intelligent. She does have long lectures, give out lots of homework, extra credit & movie reviews (essays) but it helps you understand the information more with a broader perspective. Ms. West expects for her students to participate & have discussions about their understanding of history
not a lot of assignments so you better do good on the ones you get. not a terrible class but she isnt great with blackboard.
Professor West is by far the best History instructor at Jefferson State. She is strict, but strives to be fair! She has a wonderful sense of humor and will help you as much as she can. I have taken her for US History 201, 202 & Political Science 211. If you respect her, she'll respect you! Please take her! You will not be sorry (:
I really enjoyed the topics she covered, but the class was online and I felt like there was a lot of confusion with dates because the syllabus would say one thing and BB would say another. Lots of essays but she was a fair grader. If you attend the two movie days, you are exempt from the final. Quizzes were mostly matching. You'll need the book!
Is very hard to get into contact with. Her due dates were very hard to understand because one thing would be on BB and another on the course schedule. Would not take a class with her again. If I could rate her a 0 I would.
By far the absolute best history teacher I have ever had. She is interesting and makes you want to learn. She is not easy or difficult, but she is fair.
She is terrible. She should not have a job period. She hurts more than she helps. She inspires no one. She actually hurts her students more than helps. She will even go as far as to make fun of them in other lectures. Avoid, avoid, avoid
Mrs. West is one of those teachers where, if you are putting forth the effort, then she will do what she can to help you. But if you are lazy and put half effort into assignments, then I think you will have a hard time. Do your work, participate, and ask questions when you do not understand then you too will make a good grade.
Ms. West is a really sweet person despite her loud exterior. If you show that you care about the class, she will do everything she can to help you. The homework is tedious, but if you do it the tests will be a breeze. She really wants the best for her students and is eager to answer any questions you may have. Lots of bonus opportunities as well
Hilarious does not even begin to describe this woman. Some people think she is crazy but she makes the class more fun with her humor in her lectures. I miss being able to take her classes. I had her three times if that explains anything. You have to work to get an A, she will not just give it to you. Be sure to turn in your things on time too.
She is crazy.. I took her HIS 202 class over the summer. the class was easy but she is super super picky when grading, so you did have to put in work. my main issue with her was her rude comments on your work and how insane she acted in her annoucements. it was worth it to get the class out of the way but I would not take her again..
I highly recommend not to take her class. She is rude and I feel like I did not learn anything in her class because she gets off topic too much. Her assignments seems to be easy but she is a picky grader. I will not take her class again.
This professor offers specific details about what she wants for her assignments, and then gives you a poor grade on the assignment for doing exactly what she asked. She is a nonlinear speaker who rarely talks about the actual topic of the lecture, and her grading is extremely inconsistent.
She's a bad teacher, but easy to pass. She gave me a ZERO on my first assignment because I didn't use MLA-formatted citations on a VOCAB assignment, but gave me half credit on it after talking to her. She gives out extra credit like its candy (10 points for donating 4 cans of beans). Missed an entire module (out of 4) of assignments, but got an A.
At first, her class seems like a lot of fun because she talks ALOT! She talks so much that she goes off topic. The discussions can be fun, but they don't always fully relate to class. She follows the syllabus, doesn't bite her tongue, and she allows you to sign a contract for an online version. She's not that bad. Oh, and you need a laptop! !
She is a very interesting teacher, that is for sure. She gets off topic a lot and some of her stories are funny, and some just make you wonder why your in this class. While she is weird, she knows what she talking about and that is one thing I like about her.
Ms. West was a great teacher. She lives and breathes history. She makes learning history interesting. She does demand respect. She gives many chances for extra credit. There's no reason for anyone to get less than a B in her class.
Not that hard of a class, but I wouldnt take Ms. West again. Always rambles on about random and never stays on topic. And really dont take her if you are easily offended lol. Also a really tough grader.
Cant stay on topic, is very hard to get in touch with, and wouldnt recommend this instructor to anyone.
I had Ms. West for online. She is a good teacher, but is hard to get in touch with, sometimes is not very clear on instructions. We used the class messaging group a lot to try and figure things out. She did feel bad and gave us an easier test. The Vocab is very time consuming and she wants a lot of information with it.
I took her this pass fall. She is ALWAYS rambling off Topic. She is very sarcastic . Her test has nothing to do with the lectures in class And her instructions on assignments are never clear. She TAKES FOREVER TO GRADE THINGS AND NEVER RESPONDS TO HER EMAILS. I wouldnt recommend taking her.
she is defiantly 100 percent crazy but i would defiantly recommenced taking her class she really wants you to succeed she will hurt your feelings but she will also make you laugh she really does care about her students and has a different way of teaching
First off, she doesnt teach. She lectures and goes off on rants about problems that have nothing to do with the class. She makes you do vocabulary for each module, but your definitions have to be 5 sentences long for each word. She also gives quizzes and essays. Overall, her class is easy, but you teach yourself and have to deal with her nonsense.
There is so much I can say about this lady. She does not help any of her students. I don't know what these other responses are talking about, you can email her a question and she will completely disregard it and simply reply with the most dumbfounded response. I learned more history from a cotton ball than this teacher. Please listen and drop her.
I am currently taking HIS 202. I like history, but this class has been horrible. I have sent several emails for clarification on assignments, grades, etc. and have never received a response. There is a serious lack of clarity and communication. I have also noticed some ranting and talking down to us students.
Do not take her classes. She is extremely unprofessional in the way she speaks to her students and will snark at you for no reason. Nothing is clear in the class, and don't think emailing will help, she will send back a sentence as a response to a paragraph. The class was not hard, but the busy work assignments she gives are pointless and long.
Very rude when you email her. Her work seems like it would be easy but she wants a paragraph apiece for her vocabulary assignments. Her lectures are a bit scrambled. Don't miss an assignment because then you won't be allowed to do any extra credit!!!
Just pick a different course. Her syllabus was wrong, the lectures were out of order and untitled, her instructions were unclear, she attached the wrong files. Her responses to any e-mails asking for clarification ranged from non-existent to snarky to downright confusing. Dealing with her incompetence was harder than the course itself.
If you have any other option to take from another professor, please do so. Professor West is very unorganized, expects the MOST from you while she takes months, yes months, to grade assignments. Don't expect an email back from her or if you do get one, it'll probably be short and rude. Syllabus doesn't line up. Probably worst professor I've had.
She is most definetly the WORST teacher I have ever had.. She takes MONTHS to grade and don't even bother emailing her.. she won't answer. she'll always come up with an excuse as to why she is not active. Her lectures are everywhere, she can't stay on topic for more than 2 minutes. Her Syllabus is not accurate. Do Not Take Her.
Very difficult to get in touch with via email. She does take a long time to grade but gives good feedback when she does not get you confused with another student. Her lectures are difficult to listen to as she strays from the topic at hand a good bit. You will learn if you manage to figure out which of the 5 books you are supposed to read from.
Pamela West is by far the worst professor Ive ever encountered. She provides high-school level work with high-school level explanations then expects collegiate level responses. She is not helpful. She does not answer emails. She always has an excuse but does not have a heart. I 10/10 recommended that you find another professor. She is terrible.
I wish I could have withdrawn while I still could. Her content page is extremely unorganized, Ive missed a couple assignments because of that. She gives out high school level assignments but expects college level responses. She never responds to emails either. I do not recommend taking this class.
Glad I dropped the course while I could. Her lectures are just her rambling about her opinions and not the actual topic, which makes it very unclear for knowing what to study for.
The professor makes you watch other colleges lectures then just comments on them. The test questions go "what is the difference between my opinion and the other professors opinion". I never know what to study for, it is all over the place.took points off a discussion post because I didn't put the students names in my comment when I was replying.
Does not respond to messages quickly, has very tough grading, and assignments are not related to the class.
Professor West is a nice person she does make extra credit assignments and her regular assignments accessible but so much of her class is disorganized and inconsistent. Her test short answer sections are based solely on her opinions and rebutting other professors lectures. She rambles through her lectures and her grading is inconsistent and unclear
No lectures. Read the content and her notes. You can not use a dictionary for vocab. You do synopsis of the word and cite sources. It takes a great deal of time to complete vocab. Don't wait. Short answer is 500-650 words. MLA citations for short answers, essays and vocab. It was difficult to get this teacher to honor ADA accommodations.
Never got to take her because I didn't do her attendance quiz within a time frame she made up in her head. It was due two days after i was removed. I was dealing with my other classes first so it's a very bad look for her. It tells you all you need to know from a professor who doesnt even follow her employer's due dates
Drop this or don't take this class for History 202. The tests makes no sense, they take hours to do and is a lot of reading/watching lectures to try to understand the questions. Tests are 2 parts one multiple choice and the other 2, 550/750 word essays on topics that make no sense and are hard to talk about. Just my experience though.
I would not recommend taking this professor. But do what you want
Ms West is an amazing teacher, and really straightforward. The hardest parts about the tests are the comparative essays she has you write about various professors. As long as you watch the lectures she posts and take notes on them, those questions are no problem.
She is entirely degrading to POC and other minority groups during her lectures and laughs it off. She is degrading towards students during lectures and says it's a joke. Her lectures are nothing but her rambling on about her beliefs. The tests quiz you on her thoughts, even if they are invalid. Absolutely unprofessional and horrible class.
Her in-person class is just lectures on her opinions. The actual learning was online. Her tests are 2 parts, essay questions on her opinion vs another professor's opinion while being 500-600 words, and multiple choice. She was not helpful and got frustrated with you if you asked a question then proceeded to degrade you in front of the class.
I would not recommend taking this professor but hey I am warning you. Her test, quizzes, and homework is based on her opinion and is a tough grader.
She gives mediocre class, expect you to respond with college-level responses. In discussions she wants a "short answer" of 650-750 words. Unproffessional, she vents about her personal life a lot. Makes racist jokes. Unorganized. A good thing is that even tho class is in person, she makes quizzes available for 2-3 days.
Awful professor. Class is down to about 10 people at the end of the semester cause most people dropped. Learn about her and her favorite Ivy League professors opinions on history rather than the history itself. 2 part tests, 1 part multiple choice, other part she expects 6-700 words on how she feels about the other professors lecture.
worst professor Ive ever had, largest number of drops I have ever seen. Incredibly picky about citations, yet copies and pastes hours long YouTube videos of Harvard professors, then will give a half hearted response on what she disagrees with, in which you will be expected to write multiple essays a chapter on. that is the entire class. STAY AWAY
The absolute worst experience I have had ever. She is very neurotic and posts several hour-long videos about other professors' insights, and most of her class is based on her opinion. She is picky over MLA citations and make sure you do everything just how she likes it because if you mess one thing up its a wrap. Very rude and a waste of my money.
I've definitely got to say she is one of the most inconsistent, unclear people I have had the displeasure of interacting with. Even though personality wise she is ok, you will soon see how her grading criteria and responses seem to depend on whatever she's feeling at the moment. Don't expect to learn much. I could go on and on. Avoid at all costs.
While Professor West did have extra credit assignments, I found them to be pretty difficult to do. Professor West is also a tough grader and is very specific about how she wants things formatted. I had a hard time with her class because she was very lecture-heavy and spent most of her lectures talking about how other professors were "wrong".
This professor is insanely disrespectful towards students. She made a comment to me how students who attend Jefferson state are not special and if they were they would be attending Samford. Do not waste your time or money with this teacher. She should be fired immediately.
In class she gets off topic & overshares about her life. She will stress her worldview teaching style which is just comparing & contrasting other professors opinions to hers. The assignments are pretty straightforward and she gives feedback but she is incredibly tough on grading.
Tough grader, one wrong step could cost you. Gives strenuous extra credit. Lectures about personal opinions rather than facts.
Class has an obscene amount of writing. Midterm required roughly 3k+ words divided into several "essays," with questions that are incredibly specific. Most could not be answered without meticulously scanning the videos to find quotes as opposed to understanding the content. Lectures are on personal opinions rather than facts.
The teacher rambles on and on in each lecture. She makes tests off of lectures, yet says nothing worthy of remembering in class. She always goes off track and will spend around 1/10 of the lecture on the topic, if I'm being generous. She seems to be biased in her teaching and when she disagrees with other lecturers, she discredits them.
The lectures are all based off of opinions instead of facts in her courses. She offers extra credit assignments, but when you format in MLA, which is required, your work is flagged for copyright and AI. I would not recommend it!!
Pretty much what everyone else is saying.
The class is centered around the professor's opinions rather than the actual history. Long essay questions and tough grading make it a challenging course. unstuckstudy proved helpful for preparing for the tests.
Mrs. Pamela tends to teach in her own way. I was very behind on so many things just from missing two classes. She hardly ever follows the notes, if you are a very note orientated person DO NOT TAKE HER. She tends to ramble on her own thoughts and ideas a lot. A lot of her homework is long very specific essays and she is super strict with grading.
Very lecture heavy, chaotic and makes things complicated. Very religion oriented.
I'm sure she is a nice person, but during class she is wildly inappropriate. She yells, calls students names, calls people directly out for assignments in class that weren't done in class. You could easily do her class online and never attend in person. She doesn't even teach the content she just goes on rants about her personal life and opinions.
Mrs. West is a very passionate instructor who uses real world applications when teaching. Although her examples may seem irrelevant at first glance, they really do help with the understanding of the content. I would recommend Mrs.West to anyone who is willing to work and become a great student.
Do not take her! She will knock off points for MLA and never tell you why it is not MLA enough for her. Her tests are too long, she rambles about her personal life, and there's no point in attending class because nothing she says is on the tests or discussions.
Don't take this professor for any course!! Her lectures are based on her opinions and doesn't enhance your understanding on Western Civilization. She is very unorganized and will constantly take off a lot of points for not doing MLA format on discussions or including works cited page when it was not mentioned on the assignments or rubric
Wouldn't let me take my midterm because I got my wisdom teeth taken out and showed a documented excuse but "no retakes" tests are based off of her opinion and her classes are just her rants about whatever she feels like. Compares herself to Harvard professors and makes you take a test on why they're wrong. She's very racist and homophobic
She was a terrible professor. I took her online and she refused to answer my emails or my comments on Canvas. She grades based on opinions and not the rubric. She posted 1 to 2 hour long lectures and wanted you to know almost every quote. Her lectures make no sense and she rambles too much.
I was doing part 2 of the midterm. I dropped the class literally 5 minutes ago as of typing this. The whole class is just writing; the midterm no lie was 3000 words. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. YOU WILL WRITE TILL YOUR FINGERS BLEED.
You would think this an English class it's literally nothing but writing assignments. She's not a terrible teacher she's just focused on the wrong things, she doesn't respond to emails or comments on canvas. She takes points off for grammatical and formatting issues like the whole point of the class is to learn history like….
Just took the midterm (5 hr) its just essay question, they all revolve around the same thing it's her opinions vs another historian Dr. Merriman. Literally disagree on every point he makes, essay & discussions are validating her opinions compared to his opinions. At that she contradicts her own statements sometimes just to fit her narrative its sad
I wrote the last review enough words cant explain why u shouldnt take this class. We r halfway through she hasnt responded to any of my emails or comments. she purposely doesnt put in all the assignments in the grading book so ur left guessing ur grade until either i assume she put in the rest of the assignment or grades at the end of the semester
Virtual class with one essay per unit based on lectures (about 8 total, ~4 hrs each). I didn't do any reading. Midterm/final are long with multiple essays. Pamela ignored emails, claimed rubrics existed when they didn't, and gave no guidance. Extra credit vocab saves your grade. Easy A if you play the format, but very poor teaching. Bad instructor.
Pamela West does not openly tell students what she expects of them. Instead of clarifying assignments in class, she spends her lectures talking about deeply personal and unnecessary things that are not relevant to what we are studying. While Ms. West cares about her students she also has a hard time controlling her temper which is concerning.
Half of the time, there was no teaching done. She just rambled about her home life and things unrelated to class.
