Very little is actually taught! Unprofessional
No Comments
skips more than i do!
easy easy
even though she doesn't teach good.. but she is really nice
she doesn't teach well... but she is nice and willing to help you!
Pre-read examples and material first.
knows her stuff..just isn't a good teacher..scaled every test including final.
she's nice...but my classmates dont like her coz her lectures r confusing
her lectures r boring, but she is really really nice and willing to help...
she is a very confusing teacher...she seems nice...my advice: if you took phys 12 and passed it with grade of B or higher, take her class...otherwise..its waste of money and time...and you wont learn anything at all
Very nice, wants you to do well, she just can't teach well. Talks SO fast, and gives examples from more advanced classes. People skip her lecture so they can go learn physics basics from the book on their own, so they can pass. Low low class avg.
She misses about 1 class per week on average. But sometimes she'll go a whole week without coming to class. Her voice is weak and doesn't project well. You will learn very little in her lame class.
Unfair grading practices.
Pari is an absolutly horrible teacher!!! A word to the wise is to NEVER take her course. Her lessons don't teach anyone anything. Doesn't even mention key terms for the material. Extra help just makes you more confused. STAY AWAY!!!
OMG she is upsest with VECTORS!!!! Her midterms are somewhat hard. But if the class does bad she scales the exams so thats always nice. An ok marker, And her physics jokes are kinda funny,
I had this teacher and havn't had any other physics teacher and langara, BUT LISTEN TO ME!! --> ROLL YOUR DICE WITH ANOTHER TEACHER, ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN HER!
Absolutely atrocious, her final exam had things that were not in the book. She is unfair, however she scales her unfair exams, but they are still unfair. =[
She takes attendance. LOL. Not recommend if you have less than Calculus3. MT are solved with her complicated way rather than the books peer-reviewed way. Often the test material is concurrent with assignments so only people retaking the course will get high marks. Her assignment and class-note solutions are often wrong and may not be corrected. SUX
She makes the material very very complicated, teaches optional stuff and things out of textbooks. I suggest her to make it simple and stick to the book material.
Her explanations are terrible, and she always makes lots of mistakes in class. Wonder how she can get her PhD.
Very bad teacher, makes physics even harder than it is!! Don't bother going to her class just teach yourself from the textbook. But she is very helpful and very nice!!
she missed half of the classes and when she came to class she gave us over 30 mins break. Also, she is very lazy, makes so much mistakes and the students have to correct her.worst teacher ever.
I think that she is great! Really useful and kind. I learned a lot from her. Dunno why people complain.....
Sweetest teacher ever. If you don't like her, you are a spoiled brat and need to get used to the real world where things may be unclear and confusing. One
Very sweet & helpful instructor.
Pari is a sweetheart and is so very helpful if you go see her in her office. Sometimes her lectures can be technical and confusing, but she's teaching physics (which is technical and confusing). Her lectures may be dry, she doesn't joke around, but she also expertly and efficiently teaches her material and I would take another class from her.
great instructor....

she is a unorganized teacher, but she is a very easy marker.for a very esay example,on the test, her marker makred me 25 out of 40,and then she changed to 33 out of 40,(if i got 80% right, she gave me the full mark),and after based on the average, she added up 3 more score on the average, which means i got 36 out of 40.she always do that.so hard to say.
Pari is great, she's funny and loves what she does. Take her class!
Avoid her at all cost, if you don't you will get screwed.
She is really nice. And she always give you a mark higher than you expect. Also, if the class average is low, she will raise the average. Really easy marker!!
she rushes you through it and she often cancel classes so your'e on your own for some of the parts, when i said she goes fast i mean really fast like theres no time to stop and explain the details cause apparently she'll expect you to read that in your textbooks and that should be it but how would the textbook help if you didnt get it from teacher?
she's really bad. u can't leave ur textbook. never take her class again...
She's really sweet. I completely failed the first midterm and she was happy to go through it with me and give me enough extra marks to get me passing. Also a bit of a coug I must say, her accent is really sexy!
she is really bad.she often cancels class without notice.i think she doesn't know how to teach students.what she can do is forcing us to attend class and copying notes which is just the concept and examples from the textbook.
I think a lot of people give Pari a bad rep. I have read a lot of what people had to say, but there is a catch, that I assume that they may not have caughten on to. If you go to class, this course and this prof are pretty good. If you take advantage of office hours, she is more than willing to help. She does care, as long as you do ... "catch"
pari...... well~ she cannot explain stuff clearly, at least for me... her lectures were so rush, and seemed not willing to answer quesiontion in the class. if you take her, u have to spend much time on your own in order to understand the material
I just got B+.To be honest,I all worked on my own.She canceled almost two weeks classes in total. Her exams were hard, everyone complained about her.We had our last mid term in the last week of this term.We still had an assignment due 3 days before final. We only learned until chap 29.She finished last 3 chaps in 5 classes, and final was all about them
(continue)She always gave back our midterms more than a month after we finished them. Well, she even gave us the last mid term during our final. And the final was closely relative to the last midterm. What else can I say? If you are going to take a course from her, make sure u can work on your own or you have learned these materials. Otherwise, fail
(continue)There are 14 chaps in total. At the end,we only learned 9 chaps. She even went through some chaps with only 2 to 3 examples.Final seemed like the fourth midterm to test chap 27 to 29.Nothing about previous chaps.Everyone thought it wasnt fair.If physics 2 is important to you, dont take it from her.If you do,youll regret for sure!Waste time!
I took her course this summer and now I've started to feel how less physics I learned from her.She canceled about 1-2 weeks class and really just didn't teach that much. She even forgot to teach us some important materials, and after several classes, she mentioned this was something we should know and talked about it in less than 2 minutes.Avoid her..
I found the course very difficult to stay focused in since Pari was a bit unorganized. She was not on schedule in terms of the scheduling of the lessons and chapters we were to cover. Failing midterms was common in her class. She scales like crazy though. Due to scaling, I think I went from a C or C+ grade to an A-! Make sure to participate!
My worst teaching experience. Makes a habit of frequent mistakes. Cancels classes occasionally. Advice: be prepared to work on your own if you want to pass. Failed midterms are too common. Verdict: Nice person; horrible teacher.
Avoid her, take it with someone else.
Be nice to Pari. She's a really nice person. She tries really hard. But don't take classes with her. She's not a good teacher. I could barely stay awake in her class. Ridiculous amounts of scaling are not a good sign.
PLZ dont teke her class. She always make mistakes on her own notes. Hard test. She said she will be back to school after the final so the students can ask her question about their mark, but then she end up traveling. BAD TEACHER, should be fired.
Worst teacher ever!! Does not prepare for lectures, homework way too hard, and tests even harder. Makes a lot of errors in her lectures. She was late for both of the midterms, and overall just seems like she doesn't care about her students. Avoid her!! Even though I got an A, walked out of the final feeling totally defeated.
she will likely make you doubt of your physics skills and the reasons why you ever took her class, but do not get discouraged - it's not you, IT'S HER!! the only way to pass any of her classes is to do a lot of self-studying.
"This is madness!!" "Madness?? THIS.. IS... PARIIII!!!!!!!!"
only take her class if you already know the material or you do a lot of self studying, because her lectures are useless.. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES take her class!!! take it at some other college, but NOT with PARI!! (I'm not even exaggerating) she missed 2 weeks of class and then gave out 70pp h.o last week of class
While she seems nice on the outside, Pari really punishes students on the exams. Especially the final, which left everyone shocked and dazed as to how hard it was. Even though she scales exams, it is still really hard to get an A in her course. Her teaching style is also very unclear. I would suggest taking physics with another instructer.
Known to not teach some material that is on graded assignments, requiring you to learn it yourself before she teaches it. Assignments are long, relentless and even tutors/peer tutors cannot do some problems. She is "nice"...but note taking requiress frantic writing to keep up- meaning you can't pay attention towhat she is saying
This teacher is absolutely HORRIBLE. On the last week of classes, she didn't even know that it was the last week or that on the following Tuesday we had our final exam coming up. She has missed like 6 classes. Her assignments and exams are ridiculously hard. Not a single place where you can score. She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Fire her!
what kind of a teacher is this who can't teach well, misses so many classes, then gives us notes of 100 sums to memorize, then gives us a ridiculously unfair test, and while correcting gives us stupid free marks that we clearly don't deserve, then she scales the marks up. I wanted to major in physics, but after taking her class, I'm switching
you have to work hard for her class, if you work hard enough you will definitely get a good mark from her. very helpful during office hours
Pari, let me explain her method with a short example. She makes the midterms and finals ridiculously hard which make u feel u gona fail then she scales the marks ridiculously up and once again surprises u with ur mark.Overall I wouldnt recom her cause she leaves u in a dark with your phys skills.but to be fair, she is a nice person who enjoys teaching
just fallow her footsteps and you'll do perfect. and do not fall behind
She's the teacher who totally don't know how to teach. In class ,she just keep writing or show her notes which are disorder and unorganized .she can't explain any real theory to you but bad notes.Anyway,if you sure you can study by yourself with the textbook ,that will be fine, cause her marking is ridiculous .
She totally treated physics as calculus and never explained clearly in geometry. Dodge her.
A really nice teacher ,but also can be a nightmare for my first term at langara . She kept giving me tonnes of note , which I am still confused about it right now . I am going to retake it !!!
She is a really bad teacher when she acts as a nice person. She has no teaching plan at all. She cancles a lot of class and rushes to cach everything up. She always assume that you have already known everything and throw examples to you. She scales the score up because most of the student is not doing well in her class. Don't take her, never.
She is the worst physics teacher that I have ever seen. She doesn't even know the final is approaching and teaches new knowledge. She throws a bunch of notes to you and misleads you a lot. Don't take her course unless you think you can study the course by yourself.
This is a terrible teacher, metaphorically speaking, she will teach you swimming and test you how to run. Our exams are VERY HARD to understand. It takes 15 minutes to JUST UNDERSTAND THE QUESTION. The amount of time spend on the study is negative related to the grades I got. Terrible Terrible class...
If the midterms are middle mode, then the final is the hell mode. U have to solve the problems u never did b4. However, she,ll scale u up incredibly, which means she,s not a GPA killer. In short, if u like challenges, go & take her courses
Pari is a very patient and helpful person. The topics is difficult because of the math. Physics is about learning to use math, she can't teach that. You have to learn to use math to solve the problems. Go back n review algebra people, stop blaming the messenger for doing poorly. Thanks Pari, you taught the most useful class at Langara.
very nice person ,a lot of people misunderstand her,her exam is hard .but most of the exam come from her note,as long as u study her note well ,u can pass her test without using textbook or studying practice problem.
Great person, but horrendous teacher. Weekly time consuming assignments that are not worth very much, impossible midterms and final, favourite line: "but I've assigned so many questions, you should know that". Lectures spent deriving proofs for equations used, little time spent on actually applying them, memorize textbook to pass
Her 1225 is HARD. Lots of proofs. Knowing 3D vectors is an unspoken prerequisite. The key to do well is to memorize her steps and you'll do well. Study her overhead notes step by step. Her exams are her overhead notes plus a little extra. Sometimes what she says to study isn't really what's on the exam though. Her 'i, j, k' circle really helps.
I loved her. Although she makes her students only write notes in her class, she is an outstanding teacher. Her exams are not that hard if you study for it. Pari is always there whenever you need help, so use your office hours! I would take a course with her again :)
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
Never take this, I swear to god. All my friends and I failed miserably. There are no objectives in class, she just does her usual, lecturing for 2 hours straight PROOFING with no idea why we are doing it. Whether than writing the question down first then find the answers to that question, she gives straight up PROOFING. Man I don't even know.
Tests are brutal.
Pari assigns a lot of homework. Every week there will be at least 8+ questions of the hardest calibre from the textbook (students GOOD at Physics take several hours to finish the questions). She also expects you to be reading the textbook over the weekends. Her lectures include 2 hours of proofing and she often makes mistakes in her proofing.
Pari's lectures are dry and boring. Her assignments are mostly unrelated to the test. On top, tests are extremely hard. You can clearly tell they are from a test bank that she generally uses. Her marking is incredibly inconsistent with zero feedback. Grading criteria is non existent. If you want to do well you need to be ready to teach yourself.
Terrible teacher! The final is like hell model! She will let you go down 3 level in final! The teacher who cancelled class the most times! Never see a teacher like this
Her tests aren't that hard; she puts what she had taught you in the notes. If you love physics and enjoy studying outside of her class then this course is going to be fun and challenging. Beside the hw she assigns you are expected to practice on your own. Overall she's got a pleasant accent and she is a very nice and helpful teacher.
She is really generous in marking
Pari is an OK prof. She is not always clear when she is explaining things, and sometimes doesn't really explain stuff, but if you ask a question she will do what she can to answer. She is available during office hours to explain work. Weekly homework is harder than the tests.
She doesn't explain the material well, and spends most of the time unnecessarily explaining proofs without even covering the basics of the chapter first. All her test questions are straight from her notes. She marks really easy, but you'll barely learn anything from her. Do not take her class; you'll regret it. Nice lady, but a terrible teacher.
One of the best physics teacher at this school. She gives good tests and notes. Participation in class is not required so you are free to enjoy solving your own problems. Her tests are one of the things that will draw you into taking her class, because they are of a nice challenge, but she does mark pretty easy so there is that.
Pari is one of the worst profs I have ever had and possibly is the least popular physics prof in langara. Lectures are super boring and you HAVE to have mastered the material of Calc 2 in order to be able to keep up with her. Tests are hard but to be fair, she gives a lot of partial marks. Avoid this prof if you can.
If you focus on the notes and examples from class, you will do fine. Some of the proofs will go over your head if you aren't good with calculus yet, but you don't get tested on them so it doesn't matter. One of the kindest teachers I've had.
Generous marker, but midterms are tough. Very nice person.
nice prof
Proofs in integrals when calc 2 not pre req.. lots of calc examples, none of it was on test, totally disorganized, often wrong examples, irrelevant hw that takes 5-10 hours per week, midterm and final on totally different material, just solves problems with numbers without explaining anything. Total anarchy, don't take with her. Hard marker.
A patient instructor. Lots of proofs makes fomulas clear.
Don't take calc II as a coreq, she utilizes calc III concepts to teach this course. Expect to spend many hours on the homework. If you copy her notes exactly as she writes them and review it after, you can tell she's carefully planned it out, so scramble to write down every bit. Had to drop because too much work.
Dont take her class, I think her phyc1125 was fine, because it is easy. But her 1225 is very bad and she made a lot of mistakes on the note.
Do not go for her. One of the worst profs ever. I used to love physics, Terry made it seem so easy, but with her I ended up changing my majors for she's the only one teaching 1125 and 1225 back to back this summer and spring intakes. Not clear explanations of anything. Literally anything.
Unspecific with instruction and teaching. Methods do not make sense. Difficult to understand.
unorganized, horrible.
She is a nice prof. Just study notes, she makes quizzes and tests based on them. Her notes can be hard to understand, but after a few lectures, you can understand the material. Easy to pass, but if you want to understand the material easily, pick another if you have a choice (if they aren't worse) or pick her, but read stuff on your own.
Very tough grader and not very good at teaching new concepts. Unfortunately she was the only teacher teaching this course
Pari is very notes heavy, with the notes you can do the quizzes very easily but for test she combines multiple problems that makes it very confusing. Tests are suppose to take 2 hours but online test were take home and it took over 6 hours to do each. Good luck for those trying to take it in person
She doesn't explain much about the materials, only based on what she writes on the handout. She always deduct a lot of marks in every little mistakes.
so confusing, goes all over the board while writing stuff. mentioning this because her writing doesn't follow any order. she would go back and forth across every subtopic during a span of several minutes
Basically mind dumps on the white board for two hours. I am a student at UBC, and I have taken physics there before, and wow. This class honestly wasn't even physics, it was adhd chaos. The notes she sends....yeah don't bother looking at those. Good luck.
Pari's class is a wild ride - adhd chaos on the whiteboard, but use Unstuck AI and the free textbook to stay on top of it. Worth the effort though!
please please please read the reviews and dont make the same mistake as me, her notes are a mess and the whiteboard is a pure mess by the end of the lecture. Quizzes are ok but exams are brutal!!! She's a nice person but a bad professor
Yeah just dont do it to be honest. Any other prof is better.
Pari is a VERY TOUGH GRADER. She takes off marks for VERY minor mistakes. I'm not exaggerating either. She'll take marks off for "wrong" notation and not just actual the work that's being done. Also, you don't really learn anything in this class, but it's not an easy A either. You're really getting the worst of both worlds. If you can, AVOID!!!
What appears in class and on homework/quizzes is not the same as what is on tests. Highly inconsistent grading and trick questions on exams. Just don't.
