This Professors had too many mood swings for some reason. He was so horrible to some students when they asked him a question and he was not always helpful to his students.
This professor DOES have mood swings. He is not approachable, he bites some students heads off in front of entire class and is rarely on time for class; which would not be tolerated if a student did it.
Does not connect with his students on any level. Kinda rude, could care less if you are confused. Very, very boring, lectures as if he was talking to himself through a mirror. Did not learn anything, ended up dropping the class. Lectures the full 3hrs with NO breaks, take this class if you want to get bored to death.

I took Saturday class and, the professor is helpful. Of course, there're a lot of readings off class, which definitely help to better understand and digest what I had learned in the class. Biology isn't easy to many students. So, more dedication will help. Also, I'm selling the text book for BIOL 1406, please call 7135150336 if you're interested.
Dr. Partha is a smart person, but too bad he knows absolutely NOTHING on how to explain his knowledge to others as well as integration with student. You write PAGES AND PAGES worth of useless notes because you won't be able to comprehend them when you go back to read them because you were to busy trying to jot them down while in class. Dropped it.

Took his class Bio 1406 spring 2010 on SATURDAYS and got an B+, but I did earn it of course if you study and read the book you should be fine, he can be very helpful if he sees you trying. I work a full time job (12hrs a day) and have a household and still managed to study, if you are lazy dont take him or any other science class class.
He's very smart no doubt about that however, he dosn't explain or engage with his students at all. You'll find yourself reading the entire book and re teaching yourself. Does not get involved in labs he just sits at his desk using the computer.

This class is somewhat difficult, not because of the professor but because the study guides are different than the actual tests. If you participate, attend class, and study, you should not have any problems. The professor is very knowledgeable and helpful when you ask.
He is absolutely slow, and he doesn't even care to let us know of the material we need to study. He is bad at grading, he doesn't show us our grades unless we email him. He doesn't respond to our emails, and literally runs the entire sem without letting us know any of our grades. I made a C in his class after req many times. He's a student hater!!

Well I enrolled in his class at the last minute, he was the only prof left. 3 lecture tests, 2 lab tests, 2 finals (a comprehensive and departmental). He gives extra points on tests and just do your homework, it's all part of your grade! Some people did NOT take his class seriously and that's their fault that they'll fail. I however will get an A!
Although the class may seem overwhelming at first the material is not so difficult to learn. He focuses on the Slides and you will do fine if you go over them after the lectures.
He is a good teacher. You just have to pay attention in class. Just Listen explication. He is very intelligent person. I get an A.
He is kind of robotic in the sense to where he just comes in and just gets straight to lecturing. At first I was skeptical of passing this class and ended up stop taking notes and reading the chapters. However, and to my surprise I passed with a C. If you do the work and read the book I'm sure you'll do better than me!
Dr. Sen is very knowledgeable. I'm not sure why he has bad ratings. He gives you the PowerPoint slides for the lecture, he gives you a review sheet for the exams, and he gives you EASY bonus points in each test. You need to do your part and just study. I do agree in labs he was not organized, but he is very helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.
Not an easy class, but lots of help from Prof. Sen plus extra credit. He also spent time helping students after class and during breaks. His PP slides even helped me in my next BIOL class.
Great instructor. I took this course with no background in science, however I was able to keep up! It is easy to attend to his lectures because of the knowledge he is able to provide to make everything flow which helped me a great deal...
This professor is awesome! He gives you extra facts that make you go wow about biology! It is quite an interesting class because I listened carefully. He helps those who have doubts without hesitation. I've started loving Biology more after his classes :)

Great teacher , you have to study to get good grades, lots of bonus points, drops lowest test score. if you need help he is very approachable. what else could you need. The guy is super smart and kinda funny. I highly recommend taking this class,
Mr. Partha is the worst teacher I don't know how people can rate him good. He is smart but very boring doesn't engage with the class the exams are very hard you have to read for yourself because he rushes through the slides his notes are confusing. I will NOT recommend him if you want a good grade I had to drop his class very stressful .
Really smart guy but the most unorganized teacher I have ever had. Dosnt really seem to have class planned out. Very late on getting information out sometimes.
You must read the textbook to get a decent grade, his class lectures are composed of presentations, and provides more information that was not mentioned in the textbook. He hands out reviews for each exam and gives bonus points. He's tests are multiple choice about 55 questions per exams. Overall, this class is not hard at all, as well for lab. L
BUY THE BOOK
Took him for genetics and lab. Never really paid attention in class, all you need is to read the book and do his review (indepth), he also provides EC in each test. At the end of class, there is a presentation which should boost grade. Lab is super easy and we hardly progressed since labs were never ready/organized. Always finished early too. EasyA
In my opinion, he is a very good professor. Moreover, he often gives you a review for the tests, which covers 50% of the questions, the other half you should read the book and focus on what he talks during the lecture. However, he seems a little bit unorganized, but it is not a very big deal to me.
Didnt seem to know a lot about the subject when asked questions. Class is pretty much self study to monitor your time wisely and stay focused. Pretty much could just show up for exams and pass.
You must pay attention in class. Lectures are very LONG. You will feel bored but you will need to study, study, and study very hard to get a decent grade
This man will lecture every milliseconds until class is fully over. Arrive to class late and he'll give you a death glare as you enter, so be on time. Lectures are long and he just reads the PowerPoints.
He is a very tough grader, he thinks he is the father of genetics. His lectures every breath he takes. He totally sucks as a teacher. Yes, he is knowledgeable and know in depth about his subject. But he is not organized. The amount of homework for a 4 credit course is like taking a 12 credit class. He is tough grader and he is just an IMPOSSIBLE
His class is super super hard , I dont understand why some students says hes good. I dont rate professors, but trust me HE makes me to do these. If you want your GPA go down just take Him other wise RUN for your GPA, & also his class is boring, rude professors. Be read to study, study by yourself after lecture, review is way diff frm exam.
Dr. Sen is an average professor. I took his Summer 1 Lab and his lectures are so long and it doesnt help that hes monotone. You honestly just show up for attendance. He's a bit blunt/rude and there's some things that he didn't know when students would ask him a question. His tests are average, he gets his questions off BlueDoorLabs.
I took his class for Summer I. Yes very long lectures but again, it was almost four hours because of the shortened weeks. READ your book and pay attention in class. He will sometimes mention a few things that are on your test but not in your book. He gives you the reviews for all the tests and labs. Do them and you will be fine.
Dr. Sen's A&P Summer I lab was basically a study period. He lectured for 10 minutes and then basically let you do whatever for two hours so long as you weren't being disruptive. Tests are both practical and multiple choice. The multiple choice questions were taken from bluedoorlabs. It's essentially up to you to study to do well in the class.
Half the class dropped. He is a terrible grader. He gave everyone the same grade for presenting, which probably made his life easier. He actually fell asleep while people were talking. 10 percent was homework he never opened until the end of the semester. The test are not like the review and try to confuse you.
Dr. Sen dont help who doesnt ask for help. If you are ready to study on your own, you looking at the right professor. He teaches the class for 20 minutes and then he gives you time in class to review or study the rest. His test are not hard but you have to study everything because you dont know whats exactly in the test.
I enjoyed his class, good professor, if you want to make an "A" you have to do the reading, class was tough but fair.
Does try his best to try to help the students. If we dont know the question he will stay silent until the students answer the question.
for me, he is a fair grader. he gives consideration if you will just talk to him and explain everything. he looks strict but he's a nice professor. we laugh most of the time because it's not a boring class. you will learn a lot from his class, just make sure you come to class ready and you will pass. took BIOL2101 Lab summer class. luv d group!
If you're looking for a study period class this is it. Unfortunately, even though the majority of his classes become a study period he still requires attendance and 5% of your grade is participation. I took his A&P 1 lab for the 5 week summer course and would show up everyday dreading it because it was such a waste of time. He's very rude too.
Took Professor Sen for Bio 1406. He was unapproachable I tried asking questions about the lab activities but he would say. Were going to go over the answers. I wanted clarification considering our written test are about the lab activities. Its by the grace of God and my Bio Lecture I passed this class.
I suck at science and i took him for A&P1 lab, He only taught for like 10 mins and left students to basically just review. Easy class in my opinion. I studied the lab book and notes from lecture. 3 tests and i got A on all of them! Make sure to study the lab book well because most questions come from there
Dr. Partha Sen, is a perfect Professor, I checked his ratings before I enrolled in his class, I was scared when I saw his ratings, he is opposite, his lecture is great, very caring, if you follow the instructions, there is an easy A
We were falling behind before the stay at home order started and after it did, we were super far behind. Last 2 weeks of class consisted of 2 lab exams, 2 lecture exams, the final, 4 chapters worth of homework, 4 lab reports, 7 chapters worth of material and all of my sanity. And he never got around to updating any grades minus the auto-graded ones
He is a good professor and gives you plenty of time to study in class and exams are straight from book. But I did take this class during lockdowns due to COVID and although the transition was tough and confusing for everyone he did a good job at being consistent with emails and grading and lectures. I think he did good considering
I took Dr. Sen for my BIO 1 lab. If you think that you can take his class, and only do lab work, think again. There were 2 huge exams that were harder than the lecture class, and almost all the questions are short answer. You won't be prepared for them. The work load is extremely heavy with 60-90 lab assignment questions per week.
We had him online and a few times never showed up and didnt advise us while were all waiting for him online. He provides reviews for tests and its way off from what tests actually are AND 80% of test is fill in blanks of stuff WE DID NOT EVEN LEARN ABOUT. Not good at responding to emails. Took him for bio 2102 Sorry he is not a good professor.
STEER CLEAR!! I've never had a professor that doesn't talk or check-in with their students at all. All he does is post lecture videos then abandons the class for 2-3 weeks. At the end of the semester, we students panicked to the point the department chair and dean were involved. It is only by the grace of God that I earned a B
I went through the whole semester not knowing my grade because nothing but exam one was graded. The tests are FRQs about things we dont even learn about in class. Class is basically him letting you do experiments alone with little to no instructions/supervision. I completed all the lab hw only for him to say dont worry about it the last day.

He just shows up to the lecture, robotically reads a PowerPoint and leaves. Has a "couldn't care less" attitude. Everything I now know about biology I basically taught myself from the book and studying for countless hours since the lectures were meaningless. Normally I find this subject very interesting, not with him.
If you dont believe anybody else on this app believe me! Please dont take this man unless you HAVE NO CHOICE. Tests are put on the calendar a day before and not to mention 55 questions with 75 minutes. NEVER replies to emails, Assignments get put out for him to not grade it, hell even his syllabus quiz hard Youve been warned upcoming spring sem.
This class wasn't particularly hard, but you will have to put forth an effort to pass. Professor Sen was quite disorganized & would change due dates & guidelines. He oftentimes didn't know how to navigate the technology used for projects and labs. Lectures are long & monotonous & he doesn't take questions. He is a bit rude sometimes :/ good luck
Terrible professor. He posts long lectures and then disappears for weeks. It was nearing the end of the semester and he had not posted anything new. No new chapters or grades in. No checking in on us or anything. Doesnt respond to emails. We had to get the department chair involved. Definitely dont recommend this professor.
Passed the class with a d. Not happy with this teacher at all... never cared to reply to emails but expected attendance. I made all a's in 4 of my other classes but this one. do not take.. You've been warned. If you're a nursing major like me don't even challenge yourself.
Professor Sen isnt a good instructor. I didnt pass his class and studied hours for his exams which were with 70%.. ridiculous right? We mentioned it to him and he just laughed in our face. Do not take this man it is a waste of your time and money. Do not take him even if its the last choice you have.. Im telling you guys he isnt great at all.
He is a great instructor and is extremely thorough in his explanations. This was a scheduled online course, using an e-text. He uploads his previous lectures of each chapter so you can go back and watch. He invites questions and is available outside of class. You get plenty of time on homework assignments- pay attention to these.
Would not take even if hes last option, ignored, doesnt enter your grades , ignores emails , entire class had to contact department of chair , did not have access to our course book online, horrible
I don't understand how he is still a teacher, he is very rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. Is not clear on the test review says he "can't answer us" and is just a terrible teacher overall. He got mad at a student and raised his voice and said "do you not understand English or something?" He is very unorganized and should learn manners.
The absolute worst professor I've ever had to encounter. He does not respond to his emails. The workload he gives his students is unbearable because he does not change up the curriculum for the shorter summer classes. 55 hw assignments, 5 exams and 3 discussions in 5 weeks.

I took Dr. Sen as a last minute effort to sign up for Biology, and he was the last professor left. From what I saw on RMP, I entered into the class accepting defeat. However, the class isn't too different than your ordinary AP Bio in high school. If you do your work and pay attention, it's an easy A. If you take Dr. Sen, manage your time wisely!
This dude is one of the worst professors ever. He treats us like we're in 2nd grade and makes EVERYBODY feels stupid. He reads directly from the PowerPoint.We cannot drink water in class, we have to walk out of the room to take a sip. Attendance is mandatory. I was late by 10 min and he said he would fail me. DO NOT TAKE!
He is the prime example of "the father that cannot be pleased" despite going above and beyond he will find a way to belittle any efforts that you've made. He is extremely strict, arrogant, and rude. He is routinely late to class and fails to apologize or even acknowledge his own faults. It's obvious that he is intelligent but he chooses to be rude.

This professor almost single-handedly ruined my passion for biology. He speeds through every chapter as if we should already know the content, doesn't leave time to take notes, and gets an attitude when someone speaks up or asks a question. He doesn't know how to work his technology and never posts any assignments besides the tests he grades.

Yes, he can be a bit moody. He is not as bad as everyone else is saying. He is great at explaining and his exams are exactly what he teaches. Some of the questions were short answer but once you're prepared for the class then you'll do well. Also don't be late to his classes!

If i could rate him a 0 I would for a teacher. He's not bad as a person, but since he has his PHD i guess he feels like he could care less to teach his students the material and not just read off the slides. All the negative comments are very true , 2025 and I practically paid for a live audio book . All he does it read the PowerPoint ! Dr. Sen is the worst professor I've had at HCC. He reads directly from the PowerPoint instead of explaining the material. He's rude, egotistical, and inconsiderate. He also struggles with online courses, facing technical issues every class that wastes valuable time. The grade always shows an F because he doesn't update the assignments on Canvas.
I've taken this online course for second start this year and the professor is not so great. At the beginning of the course, he doesn't read the syllabus and just proceeds to the PowerPoints. How are we supposed to follow expectations and rules for this class?? Just like what the other students are saying, he reads word by word and doesn't elaborate
This professor is very unprofessional, teaching from his bed at home. It's clear his heart isn't in it, so I don't understand why he's still teaching. Save yourself the trouble and avoid his class. Houston Community College should review his performance to ensure he's a good fit.
The professor does not teach, all he does is read the slides. His homework assignments take a lot of time and they are very exhausting, the exams are 60% of the grade and assignments and presentation are about 5%-10%, you have to have a very good grade in exams to pass. If you do not know something, he will give you a very nasty look.

This was the worst professor. He is very rude and has a bad attitude.The test are 75% of your grade, project is 15%, and homework is 10%. He only puts in the test scores. He doesn't grade any of the homework assignments. He doesn't teach just reads powerpoint slides then get on his computer and have us look back at the PowerPoints on are own.

Professor Partha Sen is honestly the worst professor I've ever had. All he did was read straight from the slides without explaining anything. it seemed like he didn't even understand the basic math himself. The way he taught was so discouraging, it made me lose all motivation. Almost everyone I know failed his class — that says a lot.
I would not recommend this course simply because the exams are worth 80% of your grade. A lot of the material the professor taught in class did not align with the exams, so you will have to read straight from the textbook to actually learn something. I was lucky enough to have a solid science background, so I received a good grade.
Avoid this class if you can. The professor is rude, unhelpful, and reads straight from the PowerPoint. Homework isn't graded your entire grade is based on 3 exams and a presentation. No real teaching or support. Total waste of time and money. Drop it if possible. I'm not sure how he still has a job when most of his students failed.
3 things to be aware of: 80% chance he will respond to your questions with an attitude, tests are 70% of your grade, your grade on canvas is not your actual grade. Pros: If you genuinely study the material in the textbook, you will do good in tests (each tests cover 7-12 chapters of textbook) and pass. Basically, self-taught :)

Don't take this class unless you hate yourself. Worst professor I've ever had at HCC. Will literally mark you absent over any inconvenience so you're better off dropping the class anyway. Doesn't grade homework. Is extremely RUDE every single day. Can't wait till this semester is over so I no longer have to talk to him.
Brilliant scientist but an awful professor. His lectures are long winded, he is not engaging, not does he seem to try to relate to students. His attitude towards students is petty, yet he doesn't aim his judgement at his his own teaching. We missed 2 labs due to bad pacing, and had to redo a lab because he did concentration calc in his head wrong.
he teaches well, he makes sure you learn and but the work in, but he gives good test reviews for your test but on the down side test are 75% of your final grade BUT test are easy and we didn't have to take a test for hcc, if your a person that doesn't like putting work in then he isn't for you but if you put your part no needs to worry
If you hate yourself and want to go through hell this class is definitely for you. Horrible at grading and your grade literally just depends on exams. The reviews aren't even reviews, it's literally just "learn this now piss off". Ask a question and get a response equivalent of a bratty teenager. Would rather walk on needles than have him teach.
