Great course, it teaches you a lot about the world we live in today, and how to make a positive change in our community together. Sure, you'll take this course for an easy mark but you'll take more from this class then any other you took that semester!

There are no tests and notes are not required because he is more interested that you actually learn something rather than being expected to memorize facts. Pascal's teaching style should be modeled by all profs! This class has my highest recommendation especially considering how important the subject material is. I left feeling completely inspired!

Excellent class!The professor/s provided great lectures, with guest speakers (with lived experience) in a setting where we could "safely discuss difficult topics. I also appreciated the way this course was structured. The two breaks and longer lunch really helped to reduce the draining effect of sitting down in a closed room for nine hours.

This is one of the best classes I have ever taken in my life. My only regret is that life got in the way of me experiencing all of the classes. The operative word here is "experiencing" this isn't simply one of those classes you take and read off of slides. You actually meet people from the community and learn from them. The class is unique in the way it's designed which makes it totally different from anything else at Ryerson. The whole idea that you don't need to take notes for a mid-term/final exam allows students to get even more engaged and focus on the topics at hand. I originally took this course because I heard it was a bird course. However, it became one of my favourite courses ever! Meaningful lectures that tug at your heartstrings and really make you reflect. This class does not follow the conventional teaching style you would expect in the average University program. It is engaging and there are many discussions that apply to real life that enriches you as a person. Unlike a regular classroom setting, there are no tests in this class. However I can not begin to tell you how much I actually learned.

This course was truly life-changing! Both the profs were absolutely amazing. They really engaged you. Coming from someone who barely goes to lecture, I was beyond excited to come to this class! There are no tests so you really don't have to do the readings. I only did readings when it came to the assignments (which, btw, were very straightforward).

Pascal is the best prof I've had at Ryerson. He is truly inspiring and you can tell he cares a lot about what he is teaching and the students he is teaching to. This class helped me to process through my own issues and reignited my spark for social justice. Best class I've ever taken, I would recommend to everyone.

Pascal was truly an amazing prof. He genuinely cares about the course and educating his students on relevant topics. He grades very easily on the journal reflections and allowed students to create final exam questions as well as answers from the online readings, therefore, the final exam was pretty easy. I highly recommend this class.

Pascal's lectures are amazing and will have you hooked right from the start. His passion for the issue shows and his lectures inspire you to address homelessness and be an advocate. Attendance and participation are mandatory but it is still easy to get a good grade. The use of guest speakers with lived experience really enhance the class.

Professor Pascal is an inspirational person who is passionate about what he teaches. He demonstrated genuine cares about every student, and ensured to make himself available without hesitation. The manner in which he delivered every lecture made it a-lot easier to understand the material; one facet of the course (guest speakers) aided my learning.

This was by far the best course I've taken given that professor Pascal displayed genuine care about his students and demonstrated in depth knowledge about the course. The implementation of weekly guest speakers allowed me to better understand the course, it helped me gain a better perspective about homelessness in Canadian Society .

My favorite course, hands down! I took it because I heard it was easy, but also because I needed to credit to fulfill my major. Readings were insightful. Guest visitors were incredible, and an amazing insight to what's really happening to anyone who has experienced homelessness. Take it, its life changing!

Pascal is a wonderful instructor. He is understanding, passionate about the course, and will help you when you need clarification. He makes learning fun as he engages with students and doesn't just read off of slides. Not only was this course an easy grade if you attend class but it also opened my eyes to the topic of homelessness on many levels.

This course was very eye opening, Pascal is very passionate about obliterating homelessness, and is an inspirational professor. I walked in thinking I had an understanding of homelessness & social justice; but I was wrong. I learnt much more than words can describe. I learnt how to think from my heart. You won't regret taking this!

Hands down best teacher/prof I've ever had. Attendance is mandatory but lectures are interesting. You'll learn A LOT in this class but it's also very easy to get an A - best combination :). Pascal is very enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches. Highly recommend taking this course.

Pascal is THE MOST AMAZING professor at Ryerson! He's so understanding and wants to help his student do well. By having in-class speakers each week and doing a street walk, our classes were extremely engaging, and I highly looked forward to each class. Pascal did an amazing job of creating a comfortable environment where we all felt super comfortable expressing our opinions. The things he taught are actually very valuable and beneficial to be aware of. The classes were engaging and unique because there were guest speakers frequently, something you don't get to experience in your other classes.

His teaching style makes the information so easy to digest and transforms what could be a "regular lecture" into a genuine learning experience. The class offers an innovative approach to teaching and Professor Murphy is incredible and teaches because he believes in the power and value of education. In a school that has so many professors who teach just to retain their research, Murphy ensures that you take everything in and leave the class as an agent of change. 100% and incredible class.

I like how Pascal incorporates guest speakers into his classes as their experiences provide insight and broadens perspectives on different important issues. The class was delivered in a nontraditional method, and I enjoyed it as I was more immersed with interacting with everyone.

The amount of perspective I learned from this class alone outshines my entire university career at Ryerson. Pascal is extremely intelligent and caring to his students. This is real education. Truly one of the most eye-opening courses I have ever taken. It was a great opportunity to learn about homelessness in Canada thoroughly and empathetically. Pascal is a gem. His classes allow students to hear other viewpoints in a safe space. Classes opens your eyes to various things that contribute to homelessness. He's an amazing instructor. One of the best that I had so far at my time at Ryerson. I'm extremely lucky to have him as a professor for my first year at Ryerson.

Initially i was not sure what to expect of this course. But i can now say it was amazing! I believe it should be mandatory course throughout most, if not all disciplines. Its difficult to explain just how impactful Pascal Murphy is. Not only is he kind compassionate and understands about the subject matter, but also about the students. Everyone is encouraged to participate and discuss their ideas. He is always approachable and willing to discuss the material. The only shame is that he does not teach more courses.

This was one of the best classes, for sure the best elective, Ive taken at Ryerson. Pascal connected learning inside the classroom to real life outside the classroom which I could not be more grateful for. The social justice issues are so important to learn, whether you are entering the field or not. So much value in this course with Pascal!

Pascal made this 1 week 8am-6pm intensive course tolerable. I enjoyed and looked forward to coming to class each day. He easily became one of my favourite professors at Ryerson while I was a student. He is so knowledgeable and inspiring in the work that he does relating to homelessness. He was easily approachable and truly cared for his students.

This was and still is my favourite course throughout my degree, I enjoyed attending this class so much. Pascal's teaching style was filled with passion that brought inspiration among his students. Pascal is quite frankly, the best professor I had at Ryerson. I was excited to go to every class, and what I learned I don't think could be achieved in any other class. He makes every class interesting, has many guest speakers, and I truly carried what I learned throughout every other class I had in my four years, and will for the rest of my life.

This course has been the most impactful elective course I have taken at Ryerson University with Pascal Murphy. This program opened my eyes to a new perspective on homelessness and shaped my interactions with the community I serve.
