I took this course in the summer and it went by super fast! Pat gave examples of the speeches and is funny! As long as you follow the sylibus and give it your best try, you got an A in the class. He gives super curve at the end!!!

Pat was an awesome teacher, he gives great speeches to help you along. He's very open minded, the class was more like a discussion more than teaching. I hate public speaking, so if you're like me, take him, he's great at helping you along!!

i missed like 3 weeks of school and he still let me make up tests and speeches despite what the syllabus said. He was understanding when i had personal stuff get in the way of school. Very funny professor. As long as you listen to his key points about speeches and implement emotion, you will do well. He is very understanding and you could flunk his 3 tests and still pass with an A. He also demanstrates all the speeches so you will understand what you are about to do. He never makes a student do anything he wouldn't do.

This class was awesome. At the beginning of the semester, I was extremely nervous about this class, but by the end of the semester, I looked forward to the class. Pat makes the class fun and easy.

good teacher. its an easy class thats mandatory for alot of majors, he's the one to take. class starts, he walks in tells a joke, takes attendance, and people make speeches. if your stage shy, you probably wont be by the end. he helps you with everything and will walk you through what you will do. he's really helpful and plays guitar. a must take.

This class is an easy A if you do the following: bring out your inner stupidity and relate most of your speeches with your interest. There's a chance to earn extra credit on EVERY speech (plus, an extra credit speech). However, make sure you do all your speeches within 5 minutes. I got an A even though I didn't even bother to study for exams.

Best teacher i've ever had in all my years of school.

Breslin is the best Public Speaking teacher at SFC. 7 total speeches, and he prepares you for each one. Maximum of 30-60 minutes preparation time the night before each speech. He is an easy grader on speeches as well. Tests (3 total) count for a small % of the final grade. Overall, he makes speaking easier, and this class is an easy A.

Pat is truly the best. He made me feel very comfortable. He is a very nice and goofy guy. He is also very helpful and understanding. Take this class, you will love him. He grades fairly too and gives opportunity for extra credit.

He is a very good teacher. I was terrified of public speaking prior to this class. He make his expectations very clear. Show up to class, do the speeches, and put thought behind them and you will get a good grade!

mr breslin is NOT an easy teacher. he has 7 different types of speeches where he docks off MAJOR points if you read from a manuscript. you must prepare for each speech and you still are not guranteed a good grade. also, he definitely chooses favorites and least favorites which can make OR BREAK your grade.

I didn't agree 100% with everything he taught, and that's what I think trips up a lot of people. Forget about other speeches you've given, or what you think you know about public speaking, and just pay attention to what Pat is looking for. With very little work, you'll get an A. A fun and easy class *if* you take the right approach.

He is a GREAT teacher, if you get him you are lucky. He grades pretty to the point, if you want a perfect score, you must have a perfect speech. but this doesn't mean you'll get a bad grade if your off perfect. Totally take him.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! most amazing teacher ever. keeps you entertained, and explains everything perfectly. hes understanding and kind. tests are very easy and even if u dont study (gotta have some common sense and listen to him while he lectures) you will probably pass. the speeches we had to make were all easy and fun to do. Breslin is definately an amazing teacher! I would recommend on taking him to anyone. He only has three exams, and most of your grade is solely upon how well you present your speeches. Make sure to put forth tons of stamina and confidence while presenting your speeches. (ALWAYS MOVE AROUND THE ROOM WHEN YOU ARE DOING YOUR SPEECH!)

I think he's a great teacher. I use to have stage fright, but with the class I've gotten better. He makes the class fun, and you learn by actually doing specific speeches, and not just reading from a textbook. Don't use the book much except for exams, but that's not a problem because it's fairly cheap.

I've had past experiences with public speaking but not with speeches. if you want to succeed in this course, do not procrastinate when preparing for the speeches. Pat Breslin is a good intructor, he gives extra credit, snacks, funny demostrations, and video clips which make the class more interesting and more helpful to understand how to do your assigned speech. I recommend to take him!

Favorite class! Breslin is so entertaining! One of my friends was taking a diff sp teacher and complained how horrible the class was. All I could say is you should've taken Breslin! Seriously, not a hard class, just do the work. Tests are somewhat diff (seeing as I only skimmed the book) but don't count for much. Speeches outweigh tests.

Favorite class at SFC!! He's a funny guy. If you follow the grading guidelines and listen to feedback if he gives any it's and easy grade. He's the best teacher to take for public speaking.

Mr. Breslin is a great public speaker, and a great teacher. If you are not very good at speaking in front of a large group of people, then this is the class for you. You get to stand up in front of the class and give a speech pretty much every class, but i took him only once a week, so it might be different in a different class. I got a B+.

He's a good professor, but he doesn't offer much personal instruction on how to make your speeches better. He grades them and leaves you to figure out what you did wrong. The grading sheet helps alot, and the class is really fun.

He knows how to teach public speaking and you will learn a lot from him. He also chooses favorites. There was a girl who cried during her 20min speech and he let her redo it. She was just never prepared and it was obvious. He is amenable to suck ups. But the class overall is fun and you'll become a better public speaker.

Pat Breslin comes fully animated with a strong background in Public Speaking. Your grade is based mainly upon the speeches. Follow the syllabus directly and you won't have a problem. Feel confortable with the class & you will naturally perform better on your speeches. Book not needed for summer class but reccomended

FUN FUN FUN CLASS! Great teacher makes public speaking easy, even if your terrified. Yes you speak in front of the class almost every class but it makes you so much more comfortable. i would recommend him to anyone!

You will look forward to going to class! I had his class at 9 AM... and I'm not a morning person! However, I never missed a class. He gives opportunity for extra credit and to turn in late assignments- making it hard to fail. The class atmosphere is that of a social gathering. Have fun! I know I did.

I enjoyed coming to his class very EASY class. He made class fun to learn more about Public Speak. The speeches were short in to the point. He don't ask you for much just to follow the guidelines when presenting a speech. I recommend this class to anybody who takes Public Speaking.

He is a good teacher, funny and easy. I personally don't like public speaking so it wasn't my forte. But he is a good teacher overall. I made B's on nearly every speech and mainly did them last minute. Gives extra credit and nice guy overall. If you put effort he should be an easy A.

I adored him! I can't urge you all anymore to take him! He makes public speaking fun, like really you will have a good time. Just be on the lookout for speeches or introductions that'll catch you off guard!

This was a great class. It is normal to be nervous about giving a speech. We had to give a total of 7, but Mr. Breslin made the class fun. Research your topic, give citations, and practice your speech before class you will earn an an A. There are 3 tests from the book and he also gives extra credit.

He is my favorite professor so far. He is incredibly smart, funny, kind, understanding, and one of a kind. He really loves his profession and loves teaching his students. It can take up roughly 2 hours per speech due to research, writing, etc. But the tests are easy and it is definitely worth taking. You won't regret a minute in the course.

Pat class was so amazing, his class is easy & fun but you are also learning at the same time. Also you know exactly what to expect from him there are no surprises and you will leave his class a better speaker.

Amazing teacher! I never cared to much for speaking in front of people but this class somehow felt like a family. Breslin is literally the definition on awesome. As long as you follow his guidelines (which are easily understood)you should have no problem passing.

Great professor! I am not the greatest with speaking to groups but he helped me to become a lot better. One thing I do suggest though is don't buy the book until going to class. he barely uses that book and if you make friends in the class you can easily form a study group if you need to see the book.

Professor Breslin is kind, caring, understanding and helpful. However, his class is not easy. He expects alot from students. He is a strict grader on speeches and counts pauses and "ums". Attendance is important and reading the book is too. I worked very hard and still earned a C+, my first C in college. Not an easy A,especially if you are shy

I am currently enrolled in this class right now and so far it's pretty easy. He clearly states what he wants for each speech, but make sure you follow the grading rubric for each speech in order to get an A. Tests are from the textbook and are not worth much of your grade so really focus on your speeches. Don't say UM'S. I totally recommend!

Mr. Breslin is an extremely energetic professor who always tries to make his class fun and exciting. His assignments aren't difficult. Be prepared that speeches are your grade, so presenting and how they're written is both important. Class is interesting and it's a great way to meet people and get to know them.

Professor Breslin is an energetic teacher, fair grader, and very cool guy all around. He is very lenient with attendance if you have a valid excuse. Don't take advantage of that though. Public speaking is difficult for me, but I feel like I have greatly improved since taking this course. It will definitely be beneficial down the road.

Mr P Breslin is a people person Professor his classes are well organized, easy to follow instructions. Listen to his advises and you will pass his classes with A's. He's there for his students Ihad him as my professor take his class he's a great man.

I'm not very good at talking in front of people but at the end of the class I was less nervous. I really enjoyed the class and Professor Breslin is great! Of all of my classes, though, this one was the most difficult. I needed extra credit to get my A.

Pat is awesome! He has a passion for teaching and wants everyone to succeed. Even if you have speech anxiety, if you research your topics and follow his guidelines, you'll get an A. People who don't get an A or B are slackers who didn't do the work. I definitely recommend this course and professor.

But Professor Breslin gave positive feedback on how to improve, which encouraged my next speech to be better and better.

He's just a great professor! You'll learn a lot. Read the syllabus and do exactly what he wants you to do and you'll get an A. Try to remember everyone has to go up front. Prepare your speech and practice, you'll ACE this class, no doubt. Most of the grade goes to speeches, we had three multiple choice tests. Highly recommendable!

Read the syllabus for exact information on how you will be graded for each speech! The people in my class who got lazy walked away with a low B. It is an easy A... Just put forth the effort required.

Take him! It is really fun going to his class and there is never a dull moment. He's really good with how he rates your speeches as well. He even helped me put together a job resume and a small elevator script to use in job interviews. This was not part of the class. You have to get the textbook and study it to pass the tests, but they are easy

I looooooove him! I had him for Public Speaking and pretty much every other week is a different speech. It's great. I like him as a teacher, he makes class funinteresting His criteria: You do your speech, at the end of class he gives you a paper with your grade. There's not much one-on-one feedback, unless ofc you ask him.

Most interesting class I've taken. He doesn't do much lecturing. The class is mostly hearing other students give speeches. Before each speech he gives a step by step outline and gives and example speech. If you follow his example you will do great on all speeches. There isn't many test. You will often have to work in groups for speech excercises.

Public speaking, for many, is not an enjoyable class. Pat is an overall good professor, but this class got very annoying very quickly. Do your best on the speeches, and make sure to follow the rubric exactly to get an A in this class.

Breslin was my favorite professor that semester. Very funny and engaging. Gives great feedback, IF YOU ASK. He provides speech criteria before hand and if you ask him how to improve he'll help. He's very forgiving towards nervousness and extremely encouraging. Very easy pass and is helpful even outside of class. Tests are tricky but weigh little.

Pat has a sense of humor that will keep you laughing the whole class period. He makes the semester speed past. Several speeches to do but nothing super hard but they challenge your ability to speak in front of others. Tests can be hard and if you don't study and read the e-textbook your in trouble. I enjoyed this class a lot.

I had a few semesters ago but forgot to rate him. He lets you get creative with the topics! For the one where we had to demonstrate how to do something, I demonstrated how to catch a pokemon. He is amazing and even knows what pokemon are! Easy A!!!

Good professor. His instructions are very clear, so if you follow them, you should DEFINITELY have an 'A'. Likes people to walk around the room while they give their speeches. Most of the time he keeps it clean, but sometimes his language isn't the best. Pretty good guy though! I've practically gotten over my fear of public speaking!

Pat is by far one of the best professor's I have had at Santa Fe. He makes his public speaking class very fun and interesting. Public speaking is scary, but he makes the classroom feel very safe. Make sure you read the text book that HE SENDS TO YOU FOR FREE (!!!) for the tests, all of the material comes from the text. Take his class!!

Mr. Breslin's class was one that absolutely benefitted me and was a pleasure to attend. I am far better at speaking after having taken it. He gives clear feedback, is a pleasure to be helped by, is funny, and provides a great environment for you to succeed. 3 Exams are worth a total of 15% so speeches are of the most importance. Textbook is free.

Best professor I have ever had. Fun, energetic, and informative. My only issue with him is your grade doesn't reflect improvement throughout the semester. At the start, I struggled speaking to groups of people, and now it is a piece of cake. However, my grade doesn't show that. My struggles in the beginning ended up keeping me at a C.

He's very enthusiastic and well rehearsed in the subject material. He explains things clearly and virtually eliminates space for any leftover questions. I love the fact that he provided the needed text material and grading rubrics online for constant review. I would take him again.

Pat made me remember how fun studying can be! His lectures are extremely entertaining and funny! His tests are not far from what the textbooks says, and his grading system is pretty clear! SPC2608 is an important class that I'm sure will help me with my professional life, and Pat just gave me all the tools I needed to excel.

I liked him when I took public speaking because he made a very uncomfortable task , like speaking in front of a room, into an enjoyable activity. He barely lectured but he really did cover the material well. He made my whole class feel like family with his laid back and relatable personality. STRONGLY suggest taking him over anyone else!

All of our speeches have been for the benefit of ourselves, our careers (present or future), and the world. He wants us to succeed, and will help you get there. Definitely feel more confident speaking in front of people now & give better presentations. Speeches at the beginning of the semester aren't weighted as much as the ones towards the end, so hopefully you do better in the end. I have a HUGE fear of public speaking and I'm very critical of myself. Breslin was very insightful and very patient. He is clearly passionate about teaching and makes a huge effort to engage his students. I recommend him 8,000,000,000%.

Class is fairly easy if you follow his rubrics and do what he tells you to. 5 speeches at about 5 minutes a piece with "debates" at the end. 3 tests and the third counts as the final but you do not need to take it if you have a 90% by the end of the semester. Remember that everyone is scared when delivering their speech. He is funny and caring.

Makes a dreaded class amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed every class. He gives you every opportunity to boost you grade and truly wants you to excel.

Breslin was by far my favorite professor at Santa Fe. He's hilarious and always puts an interesting spin on the assignment/topic. I have extreme social anxiety but even still in a speech class, I thoroughly enjoyed it and never even wanted to skip class. Also available outside of class and very understanding.

Pat is an awesome teacher! Public speaking isn't just for speaking at large gatherings or ceremonies, it is a handy tool to use on a daily basis and Pat can teach you how to properly use it. He is very old school when it comes to grades/assignments, he does not use canvas at all and your textbook is provided to you online for free.

Great teacher that grades fairly easy as long as you are prepared for your speeches. He's hilarious and doesn't take off late points. But attendance matters and you can only miss five classes without failing the course Im pretty sure.

You have a speech every week. When Pat grades he will follow a check sheet which he gives you at the end of class with the grade, he also will make comments on the page. Only three tests are given. This textbook is in the apple store for free, you don't have to read it but it helps. He has a good sense of humor. Easy class if work is on time.

Breslin was the kindest speech professor I've ever taken and as his class didn't feel like a requirement, but rather it was a class full of entertaining speeches. The speech topics were pretty open and his grading style was based off a rubric which you had access to since day 1. I would definitely take his class Summer A again.

Best professor I've ever had. Has a great sense of humor, and is very generous and understanding. Never used the actual textbook, but we did use an eBook which perfectly explained everything throughout the semester, and had guidelines for every speech. This class felt like I was showing up more for fun than to do work.

The class is compromised of 7 graded speeches. If you put in the time the class will be an easy A. Fun class to be in and listen to others speak as well as improve your own speaking abilities.

Took Pat's public speaking class. Love him! He's very educated on a broad range of topics. Probably going to get an A in this class. He gives good feedback. Probably have a speech every other week. A good amount of detail is required for these, sometimes it can take a while to write. He's an easy grader. Would recommend for an A!!

He likes his job and is a great speaker. The class is not hard as long as you can speak publicly and if you do not get the grade you want on a speech you can do it again. Easy A or B class.

He's witty, funny and all around fantastic. The speeches he assigns are thought provoking and interesting. He truly cares about his students sucess and is always willing to help in whatever capacity you need. You will not regret taking his class.

He makes class fun and hes really funny, he grades pretty tough but you have the rubric ahead of time to know exactly what hes looking for. Offers limited extra credit but they help a lot. The speeches are basically your entire grade, the exams just count for more points. Got an A in the class.

Good professor, no writing assignments. Consists of few speeches, topics being easy, even if it's last minute. He does provide feedback, which I like; however, he kinda writes the feedback in a rude(ish) way. Overall, solid speech class, I would take him again. Easy to pass as long as you participate and try your best. Textbook is free too.

It is impossible to fail this class. The extra credit offered is fairly easy and gives you a huge grade boost! The textbook is free (just a pdf download) and the lectures are short and easy to follow. I really loved this course and professor and would definitely recommend!

Such a great professor. Very nice and understanding as long as you try. There's about 8 total speeches for the class and he gives great feedback on each one. I took this class during the B term (half semester) and it was still quite easy, we generally performed one speech per week. Highly recommend.

I never write these but this man deserves one for all of the right reasons. He is an exceptional speaker and a great professor as well. Look at the grading rubric before writing your speeches, your first speech will set the tone for the rest of the semester so make your first one amazing. Truly a kind and understanding man. TAKE HIM

This professor is amazing! Funny, engaging, and genuinely wants you to succeed. Speeches are tough but the grading rubric is clear. unstuck study was a huge help for prep. Highly recommend taking his class.
