The best instructor at KVCC hands down!! Pat is HILARIOUS and has many fun stories. He is very easy going and the in-class activities are great. I took both Public Speaking and Interpersonal Communications with Professor Conroy. He's quite the character and has a lively personality that he makes class more enjoyable to go to every day. His grading system and course syllabus is straightforward. If you show up and apply yourself, you'll get no lower than a 3.0.

Doesn't ask you to do anything he won't do first. Funny. Participation matters. PRACTICE YOUR SPEECHES!!!! Be dramatic, pour your heart and soul into everything - he eats it up and it's fun! No textbook because it's public speaking, not public reading.

Pat Conroy taught my Public Speaking course. He is kind and helpful and an all around amazing teacher. He does a good job making you feel comfortable in front of the class and helps take a little bit of the edge off when it comes to giving speeches. Very easy grader.

Extremely knowledgeable about COM- has a lot of prior experience and will definitely help to answer questions/explain concepts. Course is a little demanding because it crams so much into one semester but it is very helpful and fun! Be prepared to work hard, but he will help you if you need it. Exams are fair and not hard if you study concepts.

I have had him for three classes now, and he is awesome. He is very clear with what he wants, and connects everything what you do with the real world. Expect to have a portfolio piece when you leave his class. I ended up getting an internship from his class!

Never a dull moment with Conroy. Know your top 5 inside and out. Go to class, do the work, participate, BE A GOOD SPORT! and you won't have a problem passing his class. No book required as long as you attend class. Group tests.

I loved this class! He's a great teacher and you can tell that he's incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what he's teaching. You have to do that readings or you will be completely lost. This is heavily discussion oriented, so if you aren't willing to talk, don't bother taking this class. For everyone else, I highly recommend this class!

Pat can be a bit abrasive and he loves to "torture" us but he's a great guy. The stuff he does really helps you to become an excellent speaker. I was skeptical at first but if you stick it out you will end up loving him and the class. This is the best class I have taken at KVCC so far and I learned so much and grew as a speaker immensely. Only 3 speeches to give and only 5-7 minutes each . Such an amazing professor. I wish he taught other classes! Put in the time and you should do well.

Pat is actually quite interesting. Very energetic and truly wants his students to improve. He does expect you to put in work, for instance taking notes on book chapters and discussing them in class. I found the class very enjoyable and learned a whole lot from Pat. If you struggle at any time go to him for help, he is willing to help.

No complaints with this class. What he teaches will be on the test. The writing assignments are easy and won't take much of your time. The main thing that will have you fail is if you miss class and miss notes. Other than that this class is easy and fun.

Pat Conroy is a very eccentric teacher, but he's passionate about the subject. If you show up to class, read and actually ask questions and everyone contributes you will do fine. Be prepared for your speeches.

Wonderful teacher! His lectures are entertaining, there is little homework for this class beyond your speeches/presentations you'll be presenting on given days. Show up to class and participate you will receive a good grade. He does not grade you on how well of a public speaker you are. He grades you more on participation in the class discussion, if you did your work and if you show up. Pat is a good, funny guy and is real personable.

There are a few speeches throughout the semester and in class exercises so as long as you do the work you'll get the grade you deserve! Pat is a great funny guy who you'll definitely grow on!

I loved public speaking and thought I wouldn't take a lot away from this class but I really learned so much and am so glad I took this. I would take another one of his classes in a heartbeat, even if you are afraid of public speaking I highly recommend you take this class!

It isn't simply going up and reading off a printed speech (there is that too) but fun activities that get you in front of the class. He truly loves his job; take him

Pat is a great professor. Even if you don't like public speaking, he makes it enjoyable and really helps to make you comfortable up there. If you show up on time and do the assignments, you'll pass.

Pat is super enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. If you take Pat, be ready to be pushed far, far out of your comfort zone. Most assignments are in-class participation exercises so don't skip. He doesn't use moodle, but you can ask him about your grade anytime.
