Very helpful if you go to tell him you need help. He's a teacher that wants to give you a good grade, but you still have to do some work to get it.

Really fun guy, great sense of humor, goes off on tangents sometimes but is very clear and teaches and explains concepts very well. Chooses good films to watch and is always there to help. Grades leniently as well.

I had him for 2 classes about 8 or 9 years ago. I ran into him not to long ago at Blockbuster in Grayslake. He was a great teacher. He kept everything intresting. If you have him as a teacher, ask him about playing bass in a punk band. LOL. See ya...

Just read the chapters for the quizes and watch all the movies. If you attend the class you can easily do all the work.

The best teacher I've ever had-he made me want to become a teacher and encouraged me that I can do it! Such awesome classes, he's so funny, personable, and really cares about his students. I only hope that when I teach I can be half the teacher that he is so that my students remember me the way that I remember him. You're awesome Pat!!!

Gonder is a great guy, He's understanding and lenient (I saw him get mad once though it was funny!) He teaches class as it was meant to be taught. Not easy perse, but not hard at the same time. Class was like 3 hours but still very interesting.

Pat and I had one argument the first day of class, after that, smooth sailing. He was one of the best instructors I had at CLC. I enjoied going into his office just to chat about horror films and one of his favorite films Momento. If you have the opportunity, take film and society or english horror with him!

This teacher was amazing. Myth and Fairy Tales--if you want to take it take it with this teacher his is amazing..he's incredibly funny and has lots of anecdotes about his family. He made it very easy to ask for help and was always willing to explain something! My favorite class!

Pat Gonder is among the most popular professors at the College of Lake County, and he earned it. The man is always available to his students, (past, present, and potential), which is sadly lacking in many larger colleges. His enthusiasm in english, film, and popular culture effectively engages even the less receptive students. I miss his class.

Hands down the best teacher at CLC. He is very open and always available if you need help, and not just with homework but if you need help with your major and what not. Definelty take his class he is the best!!

If you want touchy-feely, he's your guy. No doubt nice an knowledgable, but this was as rigorous as a highschool class. My bud had so many grammar/syntax errors on a paper, it was pathetic. He still got a "B". Take if you want to geek-out or feel good about yourself. Take someone else if you don't want your butt kicked later in a real class.

Easily my favorite professor at CLC. He's always willing to help, and will extend office hours to suit you. His Comic Books Writing English Comp class is great, as it keeps you interested in the subject. Always cheerful, and rather patient, I'd reccomend him for first year students trying out college.

Gonder was alot of fun! He always had a funny story to tell and you can tell he is really into what he's teaching. I took Myth and fairytales over the summer and it was really easy. couple of quizzes that were character-description matching and 4 small papers. would highly recommend him!

There are not enough words to describe Pat. He cares about his students and is always willing to help if you need anything at all. I love visiting him in his office and just having a little chat with him. He's been quite an inspiration to me. Plus, he's hilarious! He's someone you will always remember as a teacher. He's nearly impossible to forget.

GREAT TEACHER. I was pretty much the class idiot and he helped me out with all my papers. I suck at english and sometimes I had to rewrite a paper 3 times, but it was worth it I got a B at the end and im not even sure if I deserved it. Hes funny, helpful, nice, yet strict, and smart. He really puts in effort to have his students do well in class.

Film & Soc was not an easy class like I thought it would be. Papers are difficult (4 of them), quizzes almost every class on reading, and 2 exams which are take home and almost a page typed per question. Class was a little boring but Pat is a great teacher & nice guy!

Pat is AWESOME. He is super nice and easy to talk to and it is obvious that he loves what he teaches. All of his exams were take home and his quizzes were super easy as long as you looked over the terms in the book and listened to him in class. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

I never thought I could look forward to an Eng Comp class, but Pat has changed that for me. He loves what he does and it shows. Extremely helpful. Subject matter involves analyzing things from an adult perspective to include sexuality and violence. If this offends you, look elsewhere. Otherwise, do whatever it takes to get into his class. Mr. Gonder is an amazing teacher! Yes, a lot of the class has to do with sexual references, but that's what makes the class so interesting! If you don't have the maturity to handle it, then I would suggest taking a different teacher. He is very helpful, and is willing to adjust to meet you outside of class if needed.

This has been my third class with Gonder and he is simply amazing. To those who believe he is not a difficult teacher, well, I believe he adjusts his individual expectations to your level of talent and aptitude. He's just interesting, full of endless stories to give the class a new dimension. He's so adorable when he gets excited about his subject.

What a great professor! He personalized as much of it as he could, so we ended up internalizing all the concepts. By the end of class, we were all friends with each other - which is definitely a rare occurrence. I recommend this teacher to anyone, but especially to those who know how to think for themselves!

Make no mistake, Pat is one of the most difficult teachers I have ever taken. He is also possibly the best. If you wish to improve your writing, he will help you. If you have questions, he will always do his best to answer them. He constantly makes sure everyone understands the material. Success in his class is in the hands of the student.

Pat is an awesome teacher. Loves telling stories, sometimes gets sidetracked. Really loves what he does and is extremely knowledgable about it. A lot of reading. If you don't do it you won't pass, daily qiuzzes on reading. He lets you miss class 6 times before it effects your grade and at the end drops your lowest 6 quiz grades. BE ON TIME!

Pat was an amazing teacher, he gives quizes for every single reading, but they are really easy and it helps you keep on track with the assignments. (also boosts your grade) His "exams" are take home essays and are rediculously easy. My only problem was that he spoke about politics and other irrelevant topics and I find that to be unprofessional.

I took Pat a couple years back when I was still at CLC. Pat was my second English professor at the college level and was and still is by the best one I've had. He set the bar high, and in regards to just professors in general stands on his own in how awesome he is. He's extremely tough but he, if no one else, will truly prepare you for college.

Honestly one of the best Professors I will ever have. I was already interested in the topic of myth and fairytale but I hate reading. He made it easy to understand and tried to help with understanding the undertones of the subject. Somewhat of a tough grader but I highly recommend him to take for any English class.

Dr. Gonder is amazing! He is so nice and outgoing! very blunt and will cuss during class but its hilarious! I would recommend him to everybody! I failed his class but it was my own fault and he tried to push to do the last essay but I had a lot going on. He grades pretty hard but you will learn a lot from him. He is awesome!

I have been at CLC awhile and it is a rare thing for a professor to be great at teaching and a great person. Gonder is both. Not a class to sleep in, but you wouldn't want to because he is very engaging and whatever class you take with him (I took film and mythology)you will get a lot out of it.

Great, great teacher. Took him for mythology and fairytales and I plan on taking more classes with him! He gives quizzes every now and then on the reading, but they are VERY easy and he lets you drop your two lowest grades for each unit. The essay exams (take home) are somewhat hard, but there is NO reason you should not get an A on them.

Mr. Gonder is an amazing teacher. I had a 3 hour lecture with him and never once got bored. He is very funny and relates to the class. In HUM 123 we had quizzes every week but if you did the reading you are guaranteed an A. Tests were take home essays that can be challenging but easy if you put in the time. Put in the work and you'll get an A! :)

I've taken a two film classes with Dr. Gonder, and I have to say that he is the best professor I have ever had at any of my three colleges! His assignments are very clear, the lectures are organized, and his passion for the information is infectious. If you like film or want to improve your writing, take a class with Pat. Very helpful teacher and very informative class. He will help during office hours and beyond. The text books are a must and interesting quiz style. Class was mandatory for me but thankful I did take it. Looking forward to taking his other classes. You will get what you put into the class, so be prepared to read. Ask for help if you need it.

Overall, an awesome person and instructor.

He's a great professor. He really makes you work for your grade. There are 4 papers, including the final and 5 quizzes. Yet, these quizzes are cut into two sections. 20 points total for each quiz. If you like to write papers and actually learn something, take his class. He is VERY helpful, take advantage of his office hours!

I would recommend Prof. Gonder to anyone who likes a clever dude who grades based on relatively light amounts of vocab terms gotten from reading. Incredibly easy to understand and take complex ideas and such and phrases them in ways that make them very easy to grasp. I would take any class this man teaches.

Pat Gonder is an amazing teacher, and one of my favorite professors at CLC. His Mythology class was very good if you like discussions. You won't be disappointed!

The amount of writing and reading that you have to do for this class is more than I have ever had to do for an English class. We had to write 6 essays and read 20-40 pages per chapter every week. There is a quiz for every chapter and the book sucks. He isn't an easy grader and he expects you to know things that he hasn't taught you.

Took his class during a summer session and found the pace extremely challenging. Great speaker, has a passion for his class!! You will not fall asleep in his class. Expect to read 20-40 pages for every class and a short quiz on that reading. He assigns 4 papers (2 major and 2 minor) along with essays for the mid-term and final.

Dr. Gonder is one of a kind. He is culturally aware and very good at his profession. Dr. Gonder's sense of humor is what makes the class! Gonder is pretty laid back in the classroom but he has an agenda. He explains everything to be very concise and clear about your papers. Probably one of the best professors I have ever had. TAKE HIS CLASS.

I was bored and disengaged with school. That changed with Gonder. He brought a contagious passion into the classroom. He makes you care. I've since gotten a few degrees and he is my all time favorite teacher of my 100+ college professors. My view on education changed from required chore to fun adventure. Take his class to be inspired for more.

This class was what I looked forward to all week. We learned an awful lot about film, its history, and its connection and reflection of contemporary society. More importantly, Gonder broadened my ability to think analytically. As someone who is not a huge fan of movies, this has helped me appreciate them in a way I never had before.

Dr. Gonder is excellent. The class discussion is brilliant. He teaches us to use analysis and develop insight. He loves literature and film. His enthusiasm and humor is contagious. Attend every class and you will only gain insight and knowledge and learn to appreciate folklore and mythology and Fairy tales like never before. I loved 244.

If you go to the college of lake county this professor is a must. His class isn't an easy A but even it you get a lower grade it's worth it. He's an amazing man that teaches not only how to write but also how to think critically and analyze whatever you're writing about has a great teaching energy

Best teacher ever! He's not an easy teacher but its because he works with you to improve your writing. You will walk out of this class a better writer and person. I learned so much from him. Dr. Gonder is an awesome professor! I took him for both ENG 121 and 122. Both classes were themed classes 121-comic book and 122-horror. He is very nice and always reminds the class about his office hours. I would take him again if I could.

In secret I called him Patty G and he is a great professor. There is a lot of reading for the class. Each reading there will be a quiz but that is making sure you get the material and did the reading. There are essays and you need to go in depth so be sure to go to him for advice and to check your work because he is there to help. The class is fun.

Dr. Gonder is by far the best professor I have come across at CLC. He has a genuine care for all of his students, he gives incredible feedback on assignments and he stresses the importance of one-on-one interactions for better learning. I must say that I've had an awesome experience with Dr. Gonder. As a student who works between 35-50 hours a week, it was a struggle to keep up with classwork. Thankfully, after speaking with Dr. Gonder we were able to make a plan to make sure I pass. He really is there for his students. He always showed the class very interesting films.

Gonder was an amazing teacher. He is hilarious and very knowledgeable. He is also very caring in the sense of him wanting you to excel as a writer. We had quizzes weekly over the readings and then 2 papers for the whole semester. Not a difficult class as long as you take notes during class and participate. I plan on taking more of his classes

Themed englishes classes are really enjoyable and makes the subject more interesting. Gondor is a really great and caring professor.

I had a very hectic schedule for work and life during the time I had him so I wasn't able to put in the effort I wanted to but I did pass. Dr. Gonder was a very understanding and passionate professor. He is funny and very energetic. He cares about the well-being of his students.

Professor Gonder really takes the time to make sure your needs are met. If you have questions on papers he has multiple office hours and often keeps kids after class if he sees them struggling. 4 papers are written in a semester and a lot of time is needed to complete them. They are by far not easy papers to write. Time outside of class is needed.

He is amazing! I absolutely hate English and Dr. Gonder actually made me like English! He gives great feedback, has very informative lectures, and overall his paper topics are clear and interesting.

Great teacher! Had great lectures, not a lot of homework, and you would get help. He is one of the most caring people I know! He really does care about his students and will help them at any cost. Just a great guy in general, you don't meet many people like Pat! Would take his class again and any other class he is in! Definitely take his class!

Gonder is pretty nerdy and has a lot of fantastic ideas and stories to tell. I took a comic book themed class under his instruction and it really opened my eyes when it came to examining texts and coming up with ideas in writing. However if you are very conservative, I wouldn't highly recommend him because he can be quite liberal in his topics.

Dr. Gonder is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is incredibly intelligent with a passion for teaching, and genuinely cares about his students' success. Reading is mandatory, and luckily the content is such that it is enjoyable, too. I learned how to write stronger papers. You would be doing yourself a favor by taking any class of his!

I was such a slacker the semester I took Mr. Gonder. I failed every class but his. He didn't let that be an option. He really believed in me and convinced me to try amidst my depression. He said he'd help me get a C so that the class would transfer, and I stayed after class almost every day and raised my fail to a C! I really loved him.

There is a lot of reading and quizzes, but as long as you do the reading &amp; show up you will do well.

Awesome professor. He cares a lot about what he's teaching which makes it very easy to learn the material. Gives you plenty of time for the 3 papers and for the final film analysis. Quizzes are over the vocab, review the terms and its fairly easy. Films shown in class were great but change from semester to semester. Overall I highly recommend him

One of the best teachers I've ever had! He saw I was struggling and pulled me aside to talk about what was going on, I've never had a teacher do that before. I was struggling with depression really bad that semester and he helped me through the rest of the class.

He is very clear with how he wants things done. He will tell students way in advance and give many reminders for upcoming assignments. Fantastic teacher! I struggle with writing things that are not concrete, and he helped me figure out the papers on ideology. Tests are hand written so if you struggle with handwriting get a ready. Homework was easy and fun otherwise. He gives amazing lectures, they are funny and fascinating. I would highly recommend!

Professor Gonder is an outstanding professor. He cares about the students and will pull you to the side if you are having a hard time. A great aspect about him is that he has a strong passion for film and will get you involved. The tests are simple if you pay attention and the papers are simple as long as you know the vocab.

Believe the reviews because Patrick is worth your while. I took his mythology and fairytales course and had zero regrets. His papers are unintimidating as long as you follow along with reading assignments at home, and he gives incredible feedback. Plus, you can get him at his office hours always. The guy is top notch

Gonder always came to with a happy attitude. He is fun to listen to and is clear about what he cares about from assignments. Lots of quizzes, but easy if you do the reading. Always helped with papers if I was struggling.

He is my favorite professor at CLC! This class does require you to read for in-class quizzes and there are 2 papers as well. He's a professor that is 100% for the students and cares about each one of them. His humor and side stories make the class even more enjoyable. I also had him for intro to film and both classes are super interesting!

His lectures are long but he keeps you entertained the entire time. The book is a tough read, but Dr Gonder's discussions make it easy to understand.

I took this class for a humanities credit and had a great time. The books we read were fun, and all the assignments were easy as long as you did the reading. There were quizzes every day but you got to choose the questions you wanted to answer. Always had time to look at my essays.

He is a super fun teacher to have. One of the most approachable teachers I've met. His daily quizzes were not hard if you did the reading. He gives you plenty of time and extra credit to do essays. He also will give you really good feedback on anything you show him. He also cares a lot about his students!

Literally the greatest teacher I have had in any class from pre-school all the way until my fourth semester of college. Made it his goal to give every one of his students a chance to succeed and made them feel included and respected in the class. Cannot recommend him enough. He took my love for comic books and increased it tenfold.

Pat Gonder is such an amazing professor for English 121-comic books and manga. When I was in class he made class go by so fast because I was very intrigued by his lectures. I really liked how he always gave my classmates and I educational and life advice. He was very supportive and gave great feedback on essays.

There are a lot of quizzes, one almost every day of class, but they're short and simple. Easy if you did the reading. Only three papers throughout the semester, rough;y 4 pages each. Professor Gonder is very passionate about film and inspires students to look at many films in different perspectives. His lectures are so interesting and funny which made this class enjoyable. He's also very accessible outside class so I'd highly visit his office hours if you need help and plus he's a cool guy to converse with!
