I would HIGHLY recommend Patrick as your ECON 101 professor. The examples that he uses in class are simple and easy to understand. For exams, the examples that he teaches in class are very similar to his lessons. It is important to come to all of his classes for the notes are taken in class and is not posted online.

McGuinness was an awesome prof! He tells you almost exactly what is going to be on the midterms/final, and he is a pretty easy marker. I wish I could have taken him for Econ 101 as well!

Honestly my favorite professor I have had at Macewan. If you show up to class you can easily pass this class and get an A. He does give homework that are for marks but honestly it is easy marks and really helps with the exams. Also he will never put anything you did not learn in class. Pat has made my first semester of Uni so easy. He is willing to sit with you and help you if you are struggling and wants to see you succeed. Work the review sheet given to you for each of the midterms and final and you'll do great. I will say that the directions for the term paper aren't super clear, hand something in and you'll get a 70+

Best stats teacher ever!! Attend class because whatever he writes on the board will be on the exam. Very understanding and enjoys teaching. He gives out a study guide for each exam, use it!! Makes the time even off hours at his office. Tells you how to be better at your transferable skills for business. Does not takes his lecture from the book, but you could only benefit more so, from it as well. His lectures are interesting, so you do not want to skip class. He does not use Power Points, which is refreshing, he writes out all his notes on the board and he does it in a way that is very easy to understand. Pat is by far the best prof you can get. He is so caring and thorough. He marks exams and has them back to you in 2 days, he tells you exactly what he expects you to know for his examinations. We had 2 midterms, one term paper worth 10% and 3 sets of homework 3.33% each and then the final. Easy A if you pay attention, take good notes and try!

Hands down one of the most amazing professors I've ever had! He made the learning expectations and outcomes of the course very clear and made all of the lectures very enjoyable! He also made the course content so much easier to understand! As long as you do the homework and use his study guide, you will do well for sure.

Show up, take good notes, do your homework (before the night before the midterm), &quot;work the review sheet&quot; and you will do well. Pat is easy to listen to, with very clear expectations of what he wants you to know. Does a million examples of different concepts. His paper criteria is vague, but not worth much (10%). Funny guy too.

One of the best profs. Cares about his students and makes what should be a hard class an easy one. If you show up and do your homework, youll definitely get a good grade. Lectures are enjoyable and he breaks everything down so its easier to understand. Would take again!

Pat is THE BEST. he is willing to go above and beyond for this students. you can meet him outside of class and he will try his best to help you. he generally wants all his students to do well. explains the material very well. go to class and you will do good. there's 2 midterms a final, term paper, and a few questions from each chapter. fairly easy

in my opinion the greatest professor in MacEwan, midterms and final were both easy because he gave us a checklist to study and if you got that down youll do great.

Pat is an amazing teacher that honestly gave exactly what you &quot;needed to know&quot; and made it clear as possible when lecturing in class. Additionally, the homework he assigns is extremely helpful for determining what needs improvement and is not condescending when you don't have everything correct on it. He grades fairly too but the final is harder.

One of the best professors I've had at MacEwan, and quite a stand up comedian. He tells you EXACTLY how to pass his class, and in fact, he reminds you on a regular basis. Just remember, if you don't go to his class do not expect to pass as well as you could. All round fun and interesting despite the occasional dry content. 100% recommend.

Amazing prof. He makes his econ lectures enjoyable somehow. Enjoyed this class much more than econ 101, the content was basically the same (difficulty wise) he was just that great to have as a prof. Could probably be a stand-up comedian as well.

Pat was a great professor. He made jokes in class and gave easy examples which made me understand concepts so easily. Attendance is not mandatory; however, nothing is uploaded on Blackboard so you need to attend. Textbook was only used for homework 10% of grade, as long as you had in you get an easy 100% even if you get the question wrong.

Every MacEwan student should take a class with Pat while they still can. He teaches Economics so simply that it is nearly impossible to misunderstand. Do what he says, and you'll be successful. Pat's lectures are informative and often hilarious. He goes the extra mile for his students.

I've learned more life applicable skills from Pat's class than any other University class thus far. Pat's wealth of common sense is evident in his lectures. He gives very clear expectations about what will be covered on his exams and is always willing to help students during office hours, should you need it.

Pat is a sweetheart. He writes everything on the board with hand and reads them out loud as he writes them. Assign homework (not mandatory) but extremely helpful for the midterms and finals. He fixes them for you, so you know how you doing in class. He hands out &quot;review sheets&quot; that you should work if you want an A. He is funny and understanding.

Absolutely brilliant. If you show up to class every day, take good notes, do a good job on the homework, and work the review sheets, you will be successful. He cares about his students, evidenced by the amount of effort he puts in making lectures easy to understand, making review sheets, and giving good feedback on homework. A+++ would take again.

Pat McGuinness is by far the best prof I've had at MacEwan. During the unknown time of COVID-19, he was the only prof I had that kept it simple, straightforward and easy. His online lectures he uses real life examples to explain and simplify all the concepts. He also records them for future use and gives homework help and exam tips. 10/10

My favourite prof! He wants students to do well, so don't be afraid to ask him for help.

It can be challenging working online however, Pat tries to make it the easiest for each student. Each lecture is recorded in case you do miss a class however, it is recommended to go to each one. He's uses modern examples to make sure you understand the material. He's so kind and caring. This class is a GPA booster, highly recommend.

He's got the voice of Morgan Freeman and the class structure of a genius. Very rare to see a professor who actually cares as much as he does. Lots of homework, but it's a grade booster as it's marked for completeness not correctness. Wish he taught more than the intro classes, though. Just take his classes if you can get into one-they fill up fast.

Pat is hands down the best prof ever. His lectures are the best and makes them super understandable and makes you think about how the material he's teaching can be applied to reality! Super funny also and really cares about his students. He's made me love ECON and want to continue taking it for sure. Pat rocks.

Extremely caring professor! He truly wants his students to succeed. Show up to class, or at least rewatch his recorded lectures. He gives tons of hints throughout! Weekly homework which is worth easy grades and also shows where you're at in the class. Take his class if you get the chance!

Homework for easy partcipation marks, weekly tests that slowly build up your grade, and his lectures directly relate to the quizzes and homework. Really cares about students doing well and tries to help everyone. Always answered emails within 15 minutes, even at midnight.

Best intro prof Ive had at Macewan thus far! Knows the ins and outs of what hes teaching, super smart, and cares so much about his students doing well. Class is simple, homework weekly(for completion) and quizzes for bonus marks!

My first year professor for economics 101. Im beyond satisfied with his teaching methods. Professor Pat has often made time to send long emails of explanation or even a quick meeting one on one on blackboard to help you understand the material fully .Highly recommend.

Pat's one of my favorite teachers. He has a way of going beyond what you'd expect from any professor. If you have trouble understanding anything, he's willing to spend time with you until you learn. He spent an hour with me after class one time, which helped me a lot. He doesn't want to see any of his students fail.

This is my second economics course (I took 102 first) for reference. Pat gives a lot of homework/quizzes (not mindtap thank god) but this prevents you from falling behind. It also allows you to track your progress weekly and identify areas for improvement. If you watch the lectures you will learn the content and be successful in the course.

I think that bad rating of Pat is unfair, he's not condescending at all he just jokes around and tries his best to make online classes enjoyable (which he does). He's one of the best profs I've had and as a person he's great, I would recommend him to any of my peers. He makes online classes a lot better and shows he cares for his students.

Pat is a great prof, I didn't know what to expect from this class but Pat has made it fun for my 9am class! I'am not in the bachelor commerces and took this class as elective and has been a great learning experience! He always sends quiz tips and is always there to send emails at ANY TIME of the day.

I don't think Pat is condescending whatsoever and the reason he mentions attendance every class is because he cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. He's seriously the best prof ever and so helpful with whatever questions you may have. He makes me look forward to my 9 am class and has made me really enjoy the course since day 1.

Even with the online format, you could tell he adjusted his teaching so that it was optimized with our learning situation. We had homework (completion marks) and quizzes building up to our final and term paper. His notes and classes are super clear and easy if you put in slight effort, and most of all he's a genuine and funny guy and it shows !!

Took this class as an elective and his online lectures are great. He makes sure students are understanding the concept by providing many examples. This course is heavy on quizzes, but they're easy if you study. I don't think he's condescending whatsoever, and the emails don't bother me. It shows he cares about students and wants them to succeed.

Pat is a great instructor. He knows the material and slows it down so we understand and make practical use of it in our daily lives. He gives great tips for quizzes and is lenient which helps the learning experience. I can honestly say - he wants each and every one of his students to do well. Difficulty is more like a 2.5 when you near the end.

Pat adjusted very effectively to the online transition of learning and responds to your questions within minutes. Lectures and assignments are more than fair and real-life applicable. He WANTS his students to excel. Best prof I've had so far.

Prof. McGuinness is the best professor I've ever had in my university education, clearly this is exhibited by the long waitlists for his classes. PM should be the exemplar for all professors. He is a great man of utmost care, aptitude and helpfulness. His classes keep you engaged and he uses his vast knowledge and real world experience to teach.

Pat is amazing. Unfortunately theres not enough character spaces to provide a full review for this legendary prof. If students biggest concerns are his emails and stress of attendance, then they are in for a reality check when they have a prof who doesnt care to teach other than through the use of a recycled powerpoint and wont reply to inquiries.

I love his class and him as a prof. He does tend to sound a little condescending at times, but he makes up for it by looking out for his students. He gives a ton of opportunities to fix your grade, and he makes the material fun. He doesnt like it when people call his class easy, but I think the only reason we say that is bc he makes it interesting

He makes sure that everyone understands the topic and well answer his email within 20min almost every time. Never tries to trick people on quizzes and gives you quiz tips for extra help. Almost impossible to fail!

Probably my favourite prof ever, had him for econ 101 and 102 and he was amazing in both classes. Lectures are light and entertaining and his exams are like his quizzes! He makes life easier for his students and you can tell he really cares about them.

First off, I was terrified at the beginning of the semester. However, Pat eased my mind and made this class the most enjoyable for someone who has trouble with anything math related. It is not an easy A because you do need to put in the work but with Pat's help it is certainly achievable with his &quot;formula for success&quot;. Pat, you will be missed.

Pats ECON 102 class was easily the easiest class I have ever taken. It consists of quizzes, homework, 2 midterms and a final. We also had lectures however I did not attend more then 2 over the course of the semester and had stuck to notes. Pats homework assignments were honestly a joke. The final and midterm were also extremely easy. Easiest class

Pat was easily the best professor I have ever had in my years of uni. He was caring of his students and understanding. Class expectations were clearly laid out. Showing up to class and listening basically guaranteed you a good mark. Everything was explained clearly. I wish he could be my prof for everything.
