Prof. Swenson is an awesome professor. She is a wonderful woman and very smart. I wish I could take all my courses with her.

Really cool teacher. Does most sessions online and projects and hw assignments are pretty basic and simple. Nice lady and easy to get a good grade.

Swenson is one of those teachers you hope you get, not because they're really easy but because they really want to teach you. Mixes online and traditional teaching, and tries to make the classes fun. No final and 2 group assignments.

Really cool professor and easy class. Simple homeork assingments oneline and typed papers. One group project which is the final. You learn about art and its an enjoyable easy class. I would recommend her she is a really sweet professor and understanding.

This is the first online class I've ever taken and I LOVE IT!. I had some trouble at first with the technology, but the prof was very helpful and patient with me.

Very descriptive and understanding. You will definitly learn in this class. Limited reading, and small weekly homework assignments. The class was very relaxed and personal. Just participate in all class discussions, do the homework and show up to class and you will get an easy A.

She's really understanding and laid back. If you forgot your HW one day she'll let you turn it in the next day. Students discuss the story on a regular basis and there's a group project at the end. Not a hard class at all, all you have to do is make the effort to turn in stuff. :)

Professor Swenson is wonderful. She has a great sense of humor, and she makes the class interesting. All of the stories I read were very good, she really knows how to pick them. It's an easy class if you do your work and read the stories. If not, then like any other class, you'll have a hard time.

This Professor is pretty easy... The class itself is really fun b/c you never get to see anyone is all online. all you have to do is read, do some postings, and go online for the lecture. There are no tests at all.. she grades you on 3 or 4 essays you post online. i got a B. Real easy class. totally recommend.

An old school professor teaching new age works in a new school setting makes for a real interesting experience. Cut and dry: she's a simple prof... do what's assigned (some simple postings, a 2 page midterm, and a final presentation) and you will have your grade.

Absolutely the most invigorating and fun class i have ever taken. Lots of great projects and really creative. I feel like i've been given a package of wonderful ideas for my future classroom. I'd recommend this class to everyone on their way to teaching children. She's funny, has a sharp wit and very entertaining. Never a boring moment.

This is an online class, so there is no dress code and you can eat/drink as well. There are responses to the readings, a midterm (700-1000 word) paper and participation points, but otherwise I can assure you that you become a bibliophile (book-lover) after taking this class. She's a great professor, and P.S. (NO FINAL!!!!!)

Pat Swenson teaches an online course on Short Stories...and where else can you receive credit for reading, and discussing popular short stories like Brokeback Mountain and Hansel and Gretel while in your Jammies, sipping wine and receive credit for it! It's all online. Of course there is a midterm essay and presentation but it's an great class.

She is VERY liberal, but as most liberals, a nice lady. Her class is easy - most stuff is "A for effort". That does mean you need effort, but it's not hard material. She cares about the students and wants them to learn. Be warned that you do have to read Brokeback Mountain AND see the movie AND write a paper though.

No final...need I say more? She's awesome. We did read a lot in this class, and I mean A Lot, but it was cool cuz there was no test on them, so it was pleasurable reading. We did a lot of discussing, and we had to write an analysis on all reading: every week, but no final so great class overall.

she is simply amazing, i took her online course in summer, we wrote 5 major papers, three out of which were revised three times. you simply get an A for effort! great class! you'll enjoy it! make sure are online for the entire time!

You won't learn much or challenge yourself! Gives easy A's for effort. Very liberal and tries to impose her liberal views on others. Will watch Al Gore Global Warming documentary and then write a paper on how to find solutions to curb GW, even if you don't agree with it. Very liberal!! Indeed! She is such an inspiring teacher. I have never found her to be arrogant or rude in any way. Take this class!!! You wont regret it. There are 3 papers, which are not too difficult, and some online discussions. NO quizzes or exams!! Made it a great semester!

Professor Swenson's class was difficult in the sense that there were tons of essays, readings, and short assignments. The overall point of writing the essays were for students to examine the reading assignments and write essays that were engaging and intelligent. She is an excellent professor even though there were no traditional exams.

Confusing! Some days lectures seemed to repeat endlessly and some days you left class ecstatic about the things you learned. Midterm and final are majority of grade. Participation is important. My 1st PHIL class & I found it pretty difficult; it's been a while since that happened. Very helpful/accomodating instructor though.

I took her online class. She's an awesome teacher. She's easy to relate to and silly and a really wonderful person. She even had a field trip for us during spring break but it rained so it was cancelled. I would definitely take her again. After her class I'm interested in minoring in English! WTH? lol.

Amazing Professor! A lot of essay writing, but she grades really easy on them, I got A on every single one of them. Loves to have class discussion about art, the modern world, and sometimes just likes to have random class discussion about pointless things. I strongly recommend her

Took her online class. I must say that the class is very time consuming between the weekly class chats and the reading and writing prompts but, its still a very easy class if you do the work. She grades heavily on effort so all my reports came back with an A grade. She's super nice and answers emails quickly. Definitely recommended!!!!

Professor Swenson is a very nice nice professor. There is no homework in her class, but there are a lot of essay writing and online discussions. There is no right or wrong answers in her class. She grades really easy on her essays, I got all A on them. She doesn't believe in exams, so there are no midterms and exams. Highly recommend her!

I took this class online. She is nice and grades quick and responds fast too. I never read a chapter and still could answer all the assignments because it is based on personal thought. It is an easy A.

Very nice and calm Professor. This was basically an art appreciation class. There are 3 major essays and then a few more short essays and then online moddle discussion forums. There are no homework/exams. She says there are no right or wrong answers. Come to class or else points get deducted. There are alot of class discussions. You need the books.

This class online and it was very interesting. the professor was very helpful. The main topic in this class is the environment and nature, so we write essays about nature. One book to read. 2 movies. Overall a great class to help with the WPE.

Very easy 4 750-1000 word essays, 2 weekly posts plus 3-4 sentence replies to peers. I didn't need the book at all, she says you need it for the questions but they are very general. Topics include art, good and evil, religion, morality, and The Lord of the Rings :)

Easy class and extremely helpful teacher. This class was entirely online. There are 1 or 2 forums per week. Lenient on deadlines and easy grader. She responds to emails immediately. Easy class to take! Great teacher.

Professor Swenson hosted the most clear online class that I have taken thus far. She's specific and fair in what she wants, and the readings are actually really enjoyable. Do the work, and it's an easy A. No studying! Definitely worth taking as an elective.

Prof Pat's class is probably the most organized and enjoyable online class I've taken. The stories were awesome to read and analyzing them was a pleasure. It makes you a better reader and a better writer. She gives excellent feedback and is very encouraging. I would definitely recommend this class for anyone. Definite A if you're consistent. Enjoy!

She was amazing, she does give a lot of lectures per week. But every lecture were very inspiring. She is a very easy grader. As long as you do all the work in time, you are easy getting an A. Her discussion online with other students make it fun as well! Take her. I am taking another class with her this semester!

Pat Swenson was a great professor to have over the summer! All it requires is participation in your moodle posts and there are two essays that make up the class. Very easy class, I suggest this class for easy credits.

Every week you have forums, responses, and a paper due. The work load isn't much but if you don't want to work on essays and forums weeks after week than this class isn't for you. The assignments are pretty easy. She will assign you to groups and upload your essays there for peer review. You don't have to take their advice. But hers, most definite.

Easy class. Received an A. Assigns weekly forums and must respond to 5 other students' posts. Weekly forums are extremely easy. Assigns groups so students can peer review your essays. She also give feedback. Assigns 1 movie analysis for "Cast Away" and 1 book analysis for "Into the Wild". All papers and forums due every Saturday.

This class is great if youre looking for something to fulfill your GE. Easy A, but youre going to have to work for it. There is 1-2 forums each week, followed by 5 responses to your peers. Sometimes there will be a 500-750 word paper, sounds difficult at first but youll get the hang of it. The professor grades papers very quickly!

she is my fav. teacher in CSUN , I love her teaching . Textbook is required she will ask you if you did not bring your own book. she is super helpful and care about her student. I always recommend her class to my friends. Highly recommended , you wont regret . " she loves Harry Potter "

Easy online course, as long as you participate in the weekly forums and complete the major writing assignments you will be good.

5 weeks until finals and I am hanging on. Something is due AT least one thing is due every week. I think she doesn't go more than two but dang! EVERY week there is an assignment and you have to respond to other people so you have to constantly go back to moodle and see who else has replied. I will update when I get my grade.

I'm an avid reader myself so I really enjoyed the class but it definitely had some negatives. It's a lot of work. You have to read two short stories and write 500 word analyses for them every week as well as respond to 5 of your peers per story. That adds up to a lot of work every week. Then you have four 1000+ word papers throughout the semester.

Patricia Swenson is amazing. Her online 305 class was awesome, there's a lot of work, but it's not so bad, just get it done. Make sure everything it turned in, in a timely manner. Just common sense for this class! I would def take her again any day!

I'll be honest, it's a lot of work each week writing 1000 words on top of responses to peers but if you put in the effort, it's an easy A. There are 4 major papers on top of two discusssions a week. You will need the books but they aren't difficult to read.

She is a wonderful professor. I took the online class and while it was a lot of work, It was pretty straight forward and it's impossible to fail if you just do all your work. Do the forums, papers and always respond to other classmates forum posts. WE EVEN READ HARRY POTTER!!! Take her. She's lovely. You'll do great.

Easy online class, be ready to participate in group discussion post, the "Into the wild "book and paper are easy. she gives wonderful feedback but make sure you are as detail as possible with your nature walk. love her class and didnt need to visit her during her office hrs as she responds to email fast. wonderful professor defiantly recommend her!

Loved this class. Focused on nature and global warming. She responds VERY quickly to emails and is really helpful and understanding. Her class is extremely straightforward. If you do the work on time and don't half ass, you shouldn't have a problem succeeding in her class. I'm really glad I took her.

Professor Swenson is the sweetsest professor I have ever had at CSUN! She picks very good books to read and truly cares about the success of her students. I took the hybrid class which consisted of one class meeting and one online meeting every week. The work is not hard, do it and you will pass!

Undoubtedly, Swenson cares about her students and loves teaching. The class relies mostly on weekly discussion posts/responses, but do the reading and it's a piece of cake. The "textbook" for this class is practically free on Amazon (a collection of short stories). The major project can be time-consuming, but don't procrastinate and you'll be fine!

Took this class online and it was pretty standard. Assignments were due every week and consisted of discussion forums and 2 major papers. No final, just final drafts of your paper. Fun class to write in.

You have short stories to read each week and you do a forum that is due on a Saturday. You need to plan accordingly each week; it is a lot of work but you eventually get the hang of it. She will at times change deadlines or extra time.

Took this hybrid class not expecting much of it but as I got to the end of the semester I realized that the topics we took were really helpful to my daily life. Professor Patricia is honestly super sweet. There were 4 major assignments and a weekly 500-word discussion forum(+5 comments on peers post). By completing them all you can easily get an A.

A lot of reading and writing, but the stories and poems we read were interesting! She is very clear about what she wants in the papers, and is always available to ask questions if you need help. We even got to read Harry Potter! No tests or quizzes, just papers and weekly forum discussions.

Everything is nicely listed out for you. We didn't fall short on the schedule. No final exam. A for effort. She jokes around so pay attention, and have fun. Discussions are online and we don't go to class those days. We have two walking field trips. She has an amazing way of viewing life and it's purpose. Do not get the textbooks, there are pdfs.

This class was really good and related a lot to life. The professor is a fair grader and not very tough. I think if you have an interest in Humanities or have some knowledge of it, the class will be easy for you. It is a little challenging but I recommend taking this class with Pat.

This was by far the best class I've taken here at CSUN. Professor Swenson is caring, replies to emails, will extend deadlines, a lenient grader, and all of her assignments are genuinely interesting and engaging. I seriously can't think of anything I didn't like about this class.

I love professor Swenson. She was so sweet and down to earth and the content we learned in her class was really meaningful and interesting. I would definitely recommend her. HI, Pat Swenson is good. I liked her. Sometimes I think she is not reading the essays which we write because she grades them the same day, we post them. Discussion should have 5 comments to other students' answers and be aware that it should be like 3-4 sentences in each comment. no textbook, no lecture everything is on canvas.
