She's hard, lots of work, helpless, learn absolutely nothing from her class. 1/3 student ended up drop out from her class. She's the worst in NVCC.
Better to Drop Her Class ASAP !!
She seems to be new to teaching. Nice lady, but you don't really learn much.
Yea, she's nice, but not really learn anything from her...
Show up,feel free to talk and you'll enjoy her class. She gives the students the freedom of having disscusions without telling you that you are wrong. She is demanding with papers but also very generous. So if you don’t plan on showing up,don't bother.
Do not expect to get a good grad!!!
She's o-k, but I think better with Hybrid course.
She may be a bit demanding, but loved her classes beacuse of the enviroment she creats. we were encouraged to state what we feel. helped my writting skills to grow.
She HATES it when you speak while she speaks. She has a lot to say when speaking about films. She's really not that hard as long as you show you're interested and ask questions here and there. She calls on people so be prepared whenever she asks a question
She is a wonderful teacher and very helpful to students. only need to show her that you willing to work hard, you will good a good grade. I have learnt a lot from her
very very good teacher, you will learn a lot. she is easy and she does not give too mach homework
She is good if u want 2 learn. If U R there 2 pass the class this is not the class 4 u. Plus this teacher is flexible with assignments if u can make genuine reasons. One thing! always show for class.
She's a good teacher, offering a number of interesting examples of film genres and techniques, and you're open to talk about all kinds of films. Just don't talk TOO much while she's trying to teach, or monopolize the conversation.
She is very nice. Willing to help. Do not be late to her class and don't miss any of her classes. She is very flexible on papers if you let her know in advance about your problem. She gives you the freedom of choosing what you want to write about. But the class was alittle boring.
Great Class, enjoyed it a real lot. Dr. Fleck is a great professor who gives great information in a concise and well presented manner. she is very very knowledgable in film genres, techniques and styles, a great information source to learn from.
TOO HARD, TOO MUCH WORK and NOT HELPFUL AT ALL !!!
He is an ok teacher. Her class is soooooo boring. She is fair on the essays.
she's nice. However, you do not expect to get an A, because you have to work hard for a B.
Awesome! I hated writing before her class. She makes composition writing fun, easy, and interesting. Class is easy if you involve yourself with discussions. It helps you understand more of what she expects from you. Don't be intimidated by her strict look and syllabus, I was. She does assign a few writing assignments but they are easy.
i think her class is better compared to other eng112 classes. instead of reading 100 pages of literature, you read 10 pages a week about highschool films! in the essays youll have to go deep into what highschool films tell about american society and philosophy. best tip i can give for the class is to watch to movie atleast twice.
She is a good teacher, if you are looking forward to learning something...go ahead...but if you are just there to have fun...forget about it. You have to really work hard to get good grades, otherwise she is pretty nice. Flexible only if you are a good student.
Great teacher! Open minded, fun and fair. If you want an enjoyable experience, take her class!
Great teacher...Very Helpful...There is a lot of writing involved, but the subjects are very interesting. You will get a good grade if you come to class and do all the writing assignments.
Don't be afraid her. She is a smart lady, but open-minded. Her assignments are well organized, so it is fun to do every week. 5 short papers and 4 major essays are required. We went through America's media culture part, it was interesting to learn. ESL students who want some challenge would like her. She sees deep thinkers.
She is a fabulous teacher. She makes you think in ways that you don't always. She can challenge you. I truly enjoyed her class!
Dr. Fleck is wonderful. She expects critical thinking and encourages debate within the class. Don't miss too many classes and get your assignments done in order to do well. There isn't a lot of instruction in class, rather time is spent in open discussion. Her class isn't the easiest, but it has been a great learning experience.
very good professor! if you take her class, she will helps to improve your writing techniques and grammar skills....I definitely recommanded her^^
I took this as an honors class. If you know your stuff and do the work you'll be fine. She expects you to be self-directed. When writing papers, there's peer review so you should be fine. I would not take this course unless you are confident not only in your writing but also in working for a grade.
I highly recommend Dr. Fleck for serious students who want to learn. She is very helpful and very professional. She is able to understand every student weakness and help him to get over of his weak. I extremely recommend this teacher for immigrants who want to improve their writing, because she likes and help every student who strive for excellence
Best professor i have ever had. English has always been really hard for me but with this teacher it was just easy. when she grades a paper she will really let you know what is wrong and what was great and she want to work with you. She is great at responding to emails. sign up for her!!! you will love it!!
I took both ENG 111 and 112 with her, and she was extremely helpful. The information was very straight forward, Although it is an online class, she is ver interactive throughout the semester, and makes the course fun.I would highly recommend taking her class!
Pro. Fleck is very helpful, clear, understanding, kind, interesting, and knowledgable. She tries to understand each student and frequently asks if there are any questions. Work isn't very hard if you're serious about learning. Certainly take her class if you want to learn. I'm currently holding an A in her class. I really like her; she's great!
She was awesome, she knows her stuff. Her class is easy as long as you watch the lectures and take notes. She only has 2 exams which are 6 questions with one essay which she will give you in advance. When doing homework, make sure you describe and explain in detail the question she is asking you to provide examples on.
Amazing class! 2 exams with ~7 T/F, multiple choice questions and 1 essay you're given in advance. Weekly homework requires watching instructional videos, reading a book/watching a movie and answering questions. Project at the end that's very fun. Only downside was Mrs. Fleck was a little slow to grade and answer emails. Overall I highly recommend!
I absolutely adore Prof. Fleck! I learned so much about film adaptation and film making in this class that I'm beginning to question my major.Prof. Fleck opened the floor to everyone's opionion and respected everyone.Anyone would benefit from taking this class. There are writing assigments but it is an Eng class after all.Great class!
I took her online class and it was the easiest class ever!!! You dont need any books just do your work on time and you will deff get an A!!!
she graded late and she doesn's grade what you really work but she looks you personal if you like talking you will be fine other wise do not take, do not choose her.
I did not like this teacher. She nit-picked on every damn thing you turned in and never replied to emails. she uses ALL the reading books and for this class you had to read a novel/wk. if your a slow reader GOOD LUCK. The assignments are straight foward, but she always has something to say, and makes her comments about work public to other students
Great teacher, this class does not require a text book. You are required to watch TV shows, movies and read lots of articles. You learn how to write different papers, essays etc. I liked the teacher and the class in general. If you follow all instructions you will get an A!
she is very helpful and her method is very different than other professors. you have to work hard in order to get a good grade
She is a wonderful teacher. She was a bit hard to get along with at the start of the semester but once the class warmed up to her and vice versa, things got a lot better. Her in class expectations can seem a bit alien, but she expects an orderly class environment and respecting each other. I wish she taught Eng 112, I absolutely loved having her.
If you want to become a better writer, take her class. You do Peer Reviews that get you feedback on your essay. The final draft are not easy As, but if you try to make your writing better you will do really well. I took the hybrid class which was fun. Not strict, simple midterm and final. Show up on Peer Review days. Great discussions, too.
Dr. Patrice Fleck is a wonderful professor & her "Film and Literature" course is great. Fleck is an outstanding facilitator, open to suggestions and everyone's opinions. She guided class discussions so that they were on point and engaging for everyone. There is also a lot of writing about one's personal reactions to the films that is actually fun.
This class was very demanding. The work wasn't hard it's just keeping up with the reading each week and with other classes, it was really stressful, but I LOVED this class. It's super interesting and you get to analyse good films. The tests were hard, you really need to prepare, but it was open notes. Overall, professor was great.
Great Professor!! Really cares!
She is a very good teacher. She makes you to think and helps you to be a better writer...Do the homework and attend to classes and will get a pretty good grade. I got an A. It wasn't a hard class at all.
Great Professor, but read the ENTIRE syllabus!
This class was quite demanding. Not so much because of the coursework, but the requirement to meet the weekly deadlines. I will say, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed this class and looked forward to the readings! If you don't like to read, don't take this class. If you do, however, enjoy mystery both in literature and film, take the plunge! :)
One of a kind professors that left their ego way back and never enter a classroom but with humility, kindness, and passion. I truly enjoyed her class discussions. She allowed us to write from the heart and was very supportive on films we didn't find very appealing. A lot of knowledge in the subject, she taught us using awesome material :)
Awesome professor. i am currently still taking her online english class and it's pretty much do it yourself but she is always there to help. I've emailed her a couple times and she's replied within 24 hrs. Also the assignments are very self explanatory.
She never answers emails or grades papers on time but expects you to have your papers turned in on time. She is easy but useless, she did not prepare me for ENG 112 which is what i was expecting.
Great teacher! Very helpful and understanding. She was flexible to the class' needs. I do recommend getting the textbooks. We usually were expected to respond to passages from the textbook. The requirements of the essays were very straightforward. She gave us a topic or film (YES! She even let us watch movies in the class) to write about.
I love her! I had leftover holds on my account and an unexpected drop of my enrollment right before the final. She worked hard to fix these problems as soon as she noticed them, which was quite quick! A sick family member made her a little slow on grading and stuff, but in return she didn't dock many points for lateness. She was great!
I loved this class (Mystery in Literature)! She was very nice and helpful. She gave great feedback which I've found rare during online classes so I was pleased by that. The assignments were actually fun.
Great Prof! I missed an assignment she gave me more time to complete it. The work is easy, read and watch movies. Some of the novels are dry so I bought the audiobooks. I got A's on all assignments. Two exams with two double sided pages of notes & books. The exams are 45 prompts with a minimum of 200 words, just like homework only more detail.
Just took this class, and i would have to say it isn't as bad as i thought it would be. I would def. recommend, if you need to take 200 level eng course. We read novels and watched films. She gives a midterm and final. which is easy.
she is an amazing ELI prof! she is clear and tells us exactly what she expects beforehand. Would take again, she is perfect.
She wants you to pass, so she makes the grading criteria, assignments, etc. very clear. This class is really fun, especially if you like fiction, & like the Mystery genre. There are a lot of mini essays, so you are not bogged down with huge, long essays, which is great. Follow due dates & don't be afraid to ask her for help. The Exams are open book
If you have social anxiety u prob should not take this class lol she puts u in groups and u have to discuss a part of a film or novel and then present it to the class. very interactive, but id rather just get to class, listen, and leave. she's super nice but hates it when u walk in and out of class & when u come late. presentation project @ the end
For me this class was super easy. We had 4 essays, and we have peer reviews from the professor and our classmates to improve our essay. If you really know the stuff she teaches then the midterm is super easy. Best English Teacher I ever had!!!!
The class was extremely easy. The teacher did a great job grading the assignment fast. She give full credit if you follow the assignment according to her directions. She does not test assignment heavy. I used the audio version of the books because it was a short summer class.
Professor Patrice is simply amazing, and that makes me take Eng 112 with her again. She makes sure her students gain the knowledge of her materials. I would recommend her to any student, Yes! She is also understanding. She talks to her student as a mother should, and I like her for that. Love you Professor
I took this class as an online class, because i had Prof. Patrice as my Eng 111 Prof and she was simply amazing. She give good feedbacks, and is always willing to respond to her student in case of any difficulty found. She is simply good, just that i had assignments that was due 11.59 mostly on sunday, wednesday and fridays. It was absolutely ok
Professor Patrice Fleck gives to her students enough time to think about an essay before starting write about it to make sure that each student understands the essay's idea which makes it easy to start. Also, editing peers provide an opportunity to students to edit their essay many times to gain good grades. She gives three essays and two tests;
she is amazing very organize and watch for her blackboard because she does give you homework on her sick day
For some assignments you'll do what the prompt says and still get a bad grade- It's hard to please her. Lots of assignments online. Not efficient in grading. Also- BUY HARD COPIES OF THE BOOK because ebooks arent allowed in the testing center. Again, very very very slow with grading!!!!!!
She is not good at explaining things clearly. Most of the time her students are confused with her instructions. If you are not good at writing in college level, dont take her because she expects you to already know about it, even though the purpose of Eng 111 is to prepare students in college level writing. Do not take her!
She's a simple, average professor. She likes talking about the movies more than the books. Text is used, but not often. Interesting class, but feels long when it's movie day. Some group discussion. If you show up, pay attention and contribute, you'll do fine. Midterm essay, some reading quizzes, and a take home final. Shot by shot analysis sucks.
She's a great professor and so nice. Very lenient and not too strict on grading. 30% of the grade is based upon class participation, homework, and discussions. Very easy way to get points. You just have to talk and participate to get those in class points. Midterm. 4 essays. No final, the last paper (research paper) 4-5 page paper as a final.
Ms. Fleck is a wonderful person as well as a wonderful professor. I definately recomend takin ENG 111/ENF 3 with her. You will be learning, but in an easy manner. Easy A.
Lots of reading and you will have to watch some movies but the material is interesting. Easy grader, as long as you make an effort you will pass. Open book tests are easy if you read the books and watch the movies assigned. She will give you a good review of what is on the tests prior to taking them. Discussion boards are super easy.
Professor Fleck was awesome! She's really nice. I'm going to miss her class- it was really interesting. Mostly reading, watching movies and posting discussion boards. Midterm and final are open note. I'm so glad this class was offered and she teaches it, I highly recommend it.
Professor Fleck is outstanding. I had so much fun in her class, and would definitely take one of her other classes again. She is very knowledgeable, insightful, and keeps long lectures fun and interesting. I also discovered several new books (they were assigned reading) and absolutely loved them. Take her class, you won't regret it.
She was a really great professor. As long if you follow criteria and do all the work, you should be fine. Exams were open notes, so it really helpful. I got A's on the midterm and final! I felt like it was a lot of reading, and work. But it was not to bad. The movies are old school. She takes a while to grade/email back. But Overall I recommend.
Professor Fleck is very clear about her assignments and grading criteria. Lots of reading and writing involve. Watching movies and learning about film adaptation is fun. Final week is kind of tough. 5 essays on final and a film adaptation with final essay. If you like to read and watch movies you will enjoy. Sometimes she is late in replying emails
Her class is super easy if you aren't lazy and care about the material. I took her class as fun elective and she really knows her stuff. I'm a film buff and it's rare when I find someone who knows as much as she does. Plus she's super chill, laid-back. She's one of the few professors I could see myself grabbing coffee with and just talk about stuff
Professor Fleck is a sweetheart. She's so nice. She's kind of a stickler about attendance. And has a late work policy. But like come on. This is college. We're adults here. Not babies. And showing up to her class is worth it. It was fun. It was super easy too if you're not an idiot, you'll definitely get an A.
I'm not an English person but I actually really enjoyed Dr. Fleck's class. Reading isn't just stuff by old white guys but stuff that relates to our lives today. Quizzes are easy if you read the material, but make sure to talk a lot in class or you wont get a good participation grade. Read the material, try your hardest on papers, you should be fine
Real Gem
She was an amazing professor, she's very understanding of personal circumstances and extends deadlines if needed. There are two exams, the midterm and final and the questions come right from the assignments given in class. You do need to put in the effort with the writing, but it can be an easy A. 100% recommend.
The second course I have gotten all 100s on every assignment. If you follow the instructions, you will absolutely do well in this course. Both the midterm and final comprise of the assignments and readings you do, so you can use them on exam day. There is a lot of reading and work to be done; however, they should not be, in any way, difficult. Ez A
Had to take her 10/12-week course. Professor Fleck is a fair and nice lady but her course requires a lot of reading & completing assignments. One midterm & final exam (connected with books)& one Final project (towards the end). Her exams & project is hard but if you understand her course you can easily get a B+/A highly recommended.
Really nice teacher and women, gives essays but there about things that are fun to write about and will inspire you (truly) I highly recommend her as a teacher, Easy A or B class
Only a couple essays as well as a midterm and final (both writing plus t/f on grammar in midterm) I thought I would get a C, but got an A on midterm and pretty sure on the final as well. Thank you, Dr. Fleck.
ENG 279 - Film+Lit She was a bit grouchy at first, after the first few weeks, it was all good. Fair bit of watching movies and reading outside class. 2 big tests. If you pay attention in class, will be fine Participation really matters!! She calls the quiet people out by name. SUPER FAIR grader!! Can be easy A with a bit of effort!
Her course is well designed, she was the best teacher I had all semester, and she's very lenient when it comes to grading. I usually don't like English one bit but for this class I like English. Take her class, she's a gem.
Prof Fleck is a professional and loving Professor. She's very nice and gives extra time because she knows our lives are different and is very easy to get in touch with. <3
I took her 8 week class and it was too much work. She was a tough grader and didn't give much feedback which I disliked. She didn't reply to 2 of my emails which were crucial. If you do the work, you'll pass bcuz most assignments aren't worth a lot of points but she doesn't give enough feedback so you're stuck on how to improve.
I took her 8-week asynchronous course, and I was worried at first since I'm not strong in English, but it was surprisingly easy. You still have to do a fair amount of reading and writing, but it's only a few hours a day for 5 days a week. She also seems to be pretty generous with grades, I got 100s on almost all assignments.
This class is a VERY heavy class. There is an immense amount of reading that you absolutely cannot skip. Please trust me when I say you WILL fail if you don't do the readings! Professor Fleck was very kind and made her instructions for assignments very clear. She also did a good job at keeping up with grades and was always quick to answer emails.
AMAZING TEACHER!!
Professor Fleck is a nice lady, but please be aware that 1. She LOVES group projects and activities, be prepared to socialize and to make lots of peer reviews 2. She is a heavy grader 3. Make sure you review material and apply it in your assignments 4. TOO MANY ESSAYS! She is a great professor and loves class participation, dont miss class though!
Professional and a genuinely nice person. I took her online ENG 111 class, and she responds to emails fairly quickly, the workload is manageable, and the assignments make sense.
Fleck was an amazing English teacher. As long as you're turning in your stuff on time or asking for extensions before the due date, you should be fine in her class. A lot of the content wasn't really that hard to grasp. You'll do some annotations, a small video essay, and rinse and repeat until midterms or finals. It's easy but MAKE SURE you read.
