very helpful and very nice
Great teacher, very smart and motivated woman. She is understanding and supportive to everyone who is willing to teach us accounting. I would not want any other professor to teach me accounting.
nice teacher if you fall behind catch up great teacher

She is awesome! Don't take any other professor if you have the option to take her. She makes the subject easy and fun. Very good class, and very pleasant person.
a great teacher who does care about her students and want all of us to do well! I like her personality and her style of teaching, I enjoy taking her and I recommend those to take her for AF240, 241 and any other AF courses! She is a sweetheart! :)
She is pretty easy for accounting I, but accounting II is a whole new world. She is pretty tough and if you dont study for 4 hours a day you might not pass. I might be able to slide by with a c+ if I'm lucky.
She is nice, but her tests and Quizzes are really really hard and she isnt very clear when she teaches and she tells you right away to study for like 10 hours and if you dont you will fail and guess what she is right! This course requires a lot of ur Time
No Comments
She really only tells you to study that much because she knows that it's for your own benefit. If this is your major, don't you want to know the material well? She is very helpful and nice. I found the quiz examples to be easier than those in the book
May seem demanding, but she is also fair. SHe has high expectations but its not so bad if u just do the work in the book. Her stories about her accounting experiences are interesting tho
Great teacher, if you know what's going on is fine, otherwise you feel like from another planet. You are an alien in the class basically. Very helpful when having a question but be very careful on the quizzes and exams, know the stuffs.
The best professor I have ever had! She is very helpful and great at explaining diffcult concepts.
Really nice person. Somewhat disorganized. Needs more teaching experience.
She is an excellent resource during quiz or tests, if you are not 100% certain if you did something correct go up and ask her. Easy in that respect, an excellent person, great teacher, and very helpful
gets off topic and is not easy to approach
She is really good as teacher, you get to know many information. But be very careful on her quizzes and test because can blow you away, teach the class on one topic and test you in another. Have to complete one long assignment that take you of control.
she's wicked hot!!!!!!!!!!!!! and my favorite teach on campus. def take her, you learn more than you could imagine
Hard to figure out where you stand. Work not spread out thru semester. Too much piled up at end.
do not take

Dr. Bancroft is far from the “worse” professor at BSC. In fact, she is one of the best. Contrary to what the previous comment says, people do not hate her to death. Whoever wrote all that is clearly insane and should not be taken seriously… and for fut
She makes the course difficult but not impossible. Plus shes very approachable and is offering to help you, but expect to do the work. Her tests can be tricky but its not her, its the line of work. shes hot too.
She is a great prof. She works hard to help students understand the topic. the class itself is very hard, but she does try to make it interesting. She always tells people to go see her at office hours, she truly cares about her students. Her tests are not hard if you study hard!
best professor not easy not hard took this class before with sevigny and withdraw failed she sucked took it with Bancroft and pass With a B. very helpful, kind, understanding, clear. take her.Thankyou Pro. i love my major now thanks to you:)
She really is a nice and very hrd working teacher. She is always available if you have problems and if you keep up with the material this class should be a very easy management ger. She made me love accounting and almost change me major!
Excellent teacher, extreamly dedicated, and genuinlly cares. You will learn a great deal, and enjoy it, but you do have to work. She will give you all the help you need, but expects and requires a lot back from you.You will not be sorry if you take her class.Study for exams, they can be very tricky
Complete mess! But that possibly could be because I was in a nite class and she was exhausted by then but I would have to say she's a pretty bad teacher. She made me think twice about majoring in Accounting.
Likeable, has high expectations. Too many papers, not enough learning.
Bancroft, Donchess, and Brooker are the best accounting professors at BSC. Bancroft actually teaches, unlike Sevigny. Sevigny expects you to read and learn on your own, so what's the point of her being a teacher if she doesn't teach.?
Very unorganized. Knows her stuff but does not present it well. Tests always have something that the class never touched on in class. Well meaning but particularly helpful. Pleasure to look at though.
This lady needs to be more leniant. She didn't give us enough time to finish our exams, therefore half the class failed. thumbs down
This woman is so nice! She's friendly and knows accounting sucks so she tries to make it as painless as possible. Tests/quizzes aren't too bad. The material is hard, it's not her fault. Does a lot of examples in class and is willing to help anyone who wants/needs it. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!
She is a really nice teacher. the quizzes are pretty easy and you will do fine on the tests if you study. DUE THE PROBLEMS! they're optional but they REALLY help! Take her, she makes it interesting especially for a hard class.
Nice lady, but how did she ever become a Prof?? She's terrible! She knows accounting, but she doesn't know how to teach it! She seems unprepared and unorganized. She never does a problem from beginning to end. You have to teach yourself! Other than that, she's a nice person.
Yes, this is a senior level class. Yes, you must study very hard. Yes, you must write a 7-10 page paper. Yes, you must present your paper to the class. Do you want to graduate? Yes. Do the work. If you have questions, she is very helpful.
Very Nice, Hard class, bancroft is a little disorganized sometimes, one long paper, but actually somewhat interesting, overall not too bad
I'll give it to her that it is a tough course, but she makes very little effort to help the class understand. not everyone here is an accounting major, so give us a break!
No help
Awsome teacher. Better that most other accounting prof. in this school. She knows what she is talking about and is FAIR. she isnt going to treat anyone better than anyone else. I recommend her 100%
Very nice teacher...cant blame her 4 tha material being tough...I wish she did more problems in class. tests were real hard, alota pages-thick...tha paper n presentation isnt that bad...
Nice teacher.
The material is difficult, but she is always available to help. Stays after class and will answer everything you need. Helps with financial statement project. i've learned sooo much from her! ;0) Make sure not to miss a class unless you have a buddy!
Took her for intermediate 3, so much better than Sevigny. She is easier and grades easier. Of course the material is hard, but its so much better with her. She is very nice and willing to help at all times. She also guides you to your career, helps out with interns and jobs. If you need her for principles, def. take her. (required for intmediate 3)
she is awful as an instructor. She blows through material in a superficial way, that is void of any empathy for the student. She is all over the map in her teaching approach, disorganized and disjointed. She does little to edify her students but maintains an almost condescending attitude when students struggle.
She is wicked nice. This class is not that much different from 100. Not very hard to stay on track with little effort. Take her if you can.
Very nice person and passionate about accounting especially ethics. That is a good thing. The bad thing is she is flakey and doesn't always get back to you in time for a project. It seems that she thinks everyone cheats in class so she doesn't allow programable calculators and gives lectures cheating on papers.
She a great Professor. All the other comments are bull. If you do the work in class you do fine. Homework given but not required. The homework helps you understand the material. I def recommend taking her. I'm taking her upper level Accounting class next Sem
amazing teacher. very helpful. explains things clearly and nicest woman ever! TAKE HER.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. It's impossible to teach yourself this information. She doesn't answer emails until days later if you need help. She's a very nice lady but taking it online is terrible. Your grade will suffer. Half the online class dropped or were withdrawn.
her class is very hard if you're not a business or accounting major. i took it to fufill a ger and i dreaded going to it. the only reason i did not go crazy was because she was so nice, not too mention physically attractive. i showed effort and told her i was struggling and she gave me a b- at the end even though i felt like i failed. nice woman.
Nice lady but tough work. Be able to work on your own and learn on your own. Tough exams but the class is very passable.
She has a very bubbly personality which is a plus. Make sure you read the chapters and do the homework since the way she teaches is kinda complicated. She cares for her students and tries to find the best ways to help us learn the material. The tests are hard, so make sure you clearly know the material. She doesn't respond well to e-mails, though
Took on-line/Must use book and on-line materials to learn/5quizzes,drops lowest grade/3exams/1project done early in semester and 1at the end/She?s very busy, try to meet with her early for help, and is really helpful/Homework is not handed in,is great practice for quizzes
Nice lady, but this class was the hardest class I've ever taken. She goes too fast during lectures, and I couldn't keep up with what we were learning. You need to be able to teach yourself the material.
I take this class as a hybrid. It is not an easy subject matter but she makes it easy to understand with powerpoints, and discussions. I say take it with her online she will make an unbearable class a lot easier. Comments on quizzed help out too.
Disorganized and scatterbrained, Prof routinely lost her place and forgot class work in her car or office. Frequently stepped out of the room for 30+ min. at a time to do whatever (including during exams). Also wastes class time with digressions about her family while occasionally throwing her ACFI department peers under the bus. Avoid Bancroft.
Recommend prof, but not online class. I personally feel it's too much info and I'm not as disciplined as I should be. Does not always respond to emails, better off using office hours. Very knowledgeable about subject and has a very positive attitude.
This is the most disorganized professor I've had. Changed the syllabus three times and doesn't notify class. Doesn't respond to emails. Barely teaches you- your on your own. I'm an A/B student and have done well with various professors, but this one is out there.
Professor expects way more than normal entry level student should know. All tests are take home (usually still requiring 3 to 5 hours) except the final, which is in-class and closed book. Make sure you memorize all formulas or the grade on the final will ruin your overall grade. Most students were clueless at the end of sem. Book is almost useless.
I LOVED this teacher. She is the one who made me think I should go into accounting, because I wasn't sure if it was for me. Yes it is very difficult subject matter, but she was always helpful and ready to teach. Exceptional professor. Be prepared for lots of handouts!!
Class NOT recommended unless you are an Accounting and Finance major. Excellent professor.
Great professor. Very clear with what she expects. The annual report project is a bit much for an entry-level class, but it's only worth 10% of your overall grade. I took the hybrid section of this course, and it's exactly the same as it is in person. The textbook is an excellent choice, though it is expensive. Be sure to do Connect problems!
shows up late every class, leaves throughout the whole class. barely explains anything
I received a good grade, but that did not change my opinion. Disorganized, unwilling to help, confusing and subjective grading. Makes many mistakes and is all over the place. So hard to learn.
This professor is bad... She jumped all over the place and made mistakes in almost every project/solution she provided. The professor might be OK for someone to learn T accounts but definitely not suitable for Advanced Financial Reporting..
Helpful teacher. Test and project questions are designed to trick you, read all questions carefully. Minimal book use, everything on tests was either from worksheets, taught in class, or seen in homework. Attend class to know what to expect for tests and projects.
The biggest mistake you can make in this course is not preparing yourself enough: don't expect to be taught the information... TEACH YOURSELF and get guidance from her in class if your missing anything. She is an excellent choice especially for beginning accountant students and deserves recognition for it. Highly recommended.
im so sad to see bad reviews. bancroft is the reason i chose this program and she is the most caring professor at BSU and the best teacher they have.
Bancroft is one of my all time favorite professors. The people giving her bad ratings, I don't understand. Show up for class and pay attention and you will understand the material. If there is something you don't get, just ask her after class because she cares about her students. I've learned a lot from her. Take her!
Very unclear about the RealAudit simulation and also what is needed for both presentations assigned for this. Homework is not used, so don't bother. Whatever she says to memorize, make sure you do.
Good teacher, clear and easy to follow. Test are not hard and she is lively during class, I would take again.
TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!! so nice and helpful
tough professor
love her. very clear when lecturing, gives hand outs so you can follow along, wont go to the next problem until she is sure everyone gets it, will go over it multiple times if needed. 2 exams, 1 final, and 2 projects, all manageable just need to put the time in.
Professor Bancroft is amazing. She is very helpful, kind, and really cares about your education. I took her over the winter session (which is only a 2 week course). Although it was very hard to do all that material in 2 weeks, but she certainly made it manageable and was there to help every step of the way.
Professor Bancroft is a great professor. Her class is tough but by far the most valuable class of the MBA program. Very knowledgeable and available for questions/discussions. Take advantage of her experience and knowledge!
Very nice, and willing to help! Tough grader, especially with journal entries, no partial credit on them, but that's understandable. She would be a perfect prof. if she was just more thorough in some of the lectures, and used the full class time more strategically, rather than ending it early, and blowing through material too speedily.
I took Professor Bancroft for ACFI100 (as a hybrid) and 200 (T/TH class). Absolutly love her! She isn't easy but makes every effort to give you all the chances you need to get the projects done. Her quizzes are easy if you go to class and pay attention. The exams are difficult but come on guys, its college! STUDY and you'll do fine!
Class is overall well planned out 3 tests and 3 projects. Attendance isn't mandatory but is important. She is very knowledgeable but sometimes goes a little too fast and relies on your questions to stop for explanation. Does tend to throw packets out which generally don't help. Should do more examples for students. Very caring will help you pass.
Took her during a 5-week summer course. As long as you pay attention to what she covers in class and utilize the worksheets that she passes out, it's an easy A. Would definitely take her again in the future.
I get that online schooling is very hard. Bancroft has been the worst professor when it comes to online school. I had emailed her THREE times within a month and never received an answer. Beyond that, she shouldve done zoom or set up videos but that still might not have helped since shes the WORST teacher. Explains everything so confusing.
Avoid taking any classes with Bancroft. Showed up 10+ minutes late to every class. When she was there she was so unorganized. Her teaching is not good and ended up confusing me more times than not. Other than her bad teaching she was not there for her students in the slightest. Doesnt care if you pass or not. Dont take her.
Nice lady but rushes through lectures. Does not make sure the class understands the material. Would not avoid but if another professor teaches the same class, I would take with someone else.
She is a nice woman, but unfortunately, she is very disorganized and her teaching is all over the place. I always have to follow up on emails with her, otherwise, I won't get a response. I wish I could say take a different professor but she's the only one who teaches this class and Auditing as well. I do not recommend taking her in the summer.
I had Professor Bancroft for AFCI 100 and 200 and my experience was pretty much the same for both courses. She talks for an hour and doesn't really explain much just expects you to understand it right away. Horrible at answering emails she always came off as annoyed when I asked a question. Also, went MIA for a couple weeks for our online class.
Her teaching is very vague, especially this is a ACFI 592 course. I would never take her again, too bad BSU only have her for ACF I592 course!
Do not take this professor! Her exams are nothing like her tests and quizzes, she does not respond to emails and provides little help to her students. You are left to read a powerpoint that she copied from the book and teach yourself. Awful experience would not recommend this teacher ever.
Right in the syllabus she brags about how many people will drop this class. She does not care about her students or teaching the material. All assignments are through Mcgraw hill site she does not utilize blackboard and while this class requires the lab since its Mcgraw you will not use excel at all. Do not sign up for this class she is terrible.
Here's how to succeed in Dr. Bancroft's class: Read the book and complete the homework before you attend class. This way you can ask questions regarding the material during class. Additionally, the course material (both in text and in handouts) provide what you need in order to complete all projects. Tests aren't difficult if you're prepared.
Didn't feel like I learned much if anything during lectures. Very nice person but not really helpful when it comes to making the students understand the material. 3 projects and 3 tests. Projects are 10% each exams are 25% each and the final is 20%. I had to learn most of the material on my own through wiley plus (ebook).
Dont take this class during the summer. She doesnt guide you through the class at all & there is a ton of work each week. On McGraw site the hw says if you are late its 5% off each day but she locks the hw so you cant finish it after due time. One hw question could take up to 2hrs & she times the test for 1hr30. Worst class ever, unforgiving prof.
This teacher will make it clear that all mistakes are your fault and punishes you for every little thing. Her class is designed to make it difficult for students and if you miss a due date you can basically call your semester done because she is not going to help you whatsoever. Goodluck, You'll need it
Was not considerate enough. I put hours into my study, homework, got help every week at the Accudemia and this teacher just doesn't care. I got a B overall but believe that after so many hours spent studying and really putting in the effort, she should have taken that into consideration.
Unless you want to be teaching yourself, I suggest not taking this professor online, especially during the winter. Not only does she assign a ton of work each week, but she also has hard deadlines. Also, everything that is used is not even her own material.
Took the class online over the summer which makes it more difficult, but class is not that hard. Homework every week and 3 exams. Exams are worth a total of 70% of your grade so make sure you study.
Prof. Bancroft creates a good learning environment and genuinely cares about the success of her students. Gives out plenty of practice worksheet so I always felt prepared for my exams. 3 Exams worth 25%, 25%, and 20% of grade. Other 30% is made up of connect assignments, quizzes and a project which are all easy. Could not recommend more.
Super nice Professor, but she does not care if you pass or fail. Moves at a super quick pace and expects you to know a lot. If you are not able to learn at a quick pace I do not recommend this professor.
Posted old course work and she does not engage with her class. Her projects are very difficult, nothing she posts relates to it! You are on your own and left confused. She is very rude too in my opinion. She is probably just here to grab a paycheck. Sucks that she is the only prof that teaches this course, so here is your warning. Do better BSU!!!!
Personally, I love her teaching style. She is super friendly and will answer any question asked. Handouts in class go over the handouts together, quiz on that material then another lesson, quiz on that material. Then review and test on the two quizzes. One online project at the beginning of the year is not too hard she will help you. Pay attention.
This class was unbelievably hard. She is very strict with grading, and the projects are so hard as they are different from the textbook and the content on BB. She's a very nice person, but she is very unorganized and shoudn't be teaching this course. The course gets easier throughout the semester, so don't give up. Good luck!
I loved her and her teaching style. Every class you're given handouts and she walks you through them and gives you a separate to practice. Answers are posted on Blackboard and quizzes are given based on the material. 3 Tests, 4(?) quizzes, and a project at the beginning of the year. Homework is done through Connect.I would absolutely take her again
Great professor. Put in the effort to study outside of class, do the practice problems, and you'll succeed. 3 exams, a few quizzes, and 1 project. Each exam is based on 3 or 4 chapters. Final is not cumulative. Gives a lot of worksheets, use them to study for the quizzes/exams.
Nice lady. Provides advice both on course subject and beyond. Actually listen to Dr. Bancroft rather than just copy her notes and you'll find it easy. Reading the book/doing Connect BEFORE class is helpful. Tests are just the notes with the #s changed; don't let it fool you. You still need to know the WHY to remember the HOW. Review your 100 notes!
Tough class, especially online. Lots of weekly work and strict deadlines. Use resources like unstuck AI and the free textbook to stay on top of it. The exams are challenging, but doable if you put in the effort.
Take her if you can! She made everything so easy to understand and made me feel so much more confident in my major. Hands out packets and goes over them, as well as example problems that are similar. Pay attention and show up to class and you should be good.
Do not take this class online. The videos given out are confusing and there is no effort given the professor. It's very clear that the online classes are a second thought and not as important as the in-person classes. TAKE THIS CLASS IN PERSON.
She was fun and engaging, the work was sort of confusing but it was just a very hard class. She taught barefoot and it has been years and I still can't forget about it, strange.
Bancroft is the worst professor I have taken at BSU. She does not care about you, what you learn and how you succeed in the course. She suggested numerous times to students to withdraw from the course instead of helping, was completely disorganized with her million worksheets, and multiple times messed up the grades with corrected exams. Avoid her!
Shes alright really. I absolutely hate connect though its like pulling my teeth out but the assignments are easy enough.
I wish this class was not hybrid because the content's tough and the online portion feels disorganized and sloppy. On class days she does fine. However the lectures combined with the text are just enough to learn. She gives the textbook's and her own solutions which is very helpful when practicing. I still owe her for getting me to change my major.
