AMAZING! i never thought i'd actually like history! She gives GREAT lectures!

Excellent history professor, silver lining of the cloud known as the Hi dept.

She is a terrific prof who knits together the threads of history to make understanding today's events and situations much better.

Behre is great. I took her twice. Intro and then Ancien Regime. She knows her stuff and does her best to learn everyone's name and likes to hear what you have to say. You will learn a lot, and will get Jeopardy questions 5 years later, too!

A wonderful professor. Really intelligent, interesting, funny and easy to understand. Tries to mix it up so you're not bored. Shes not really a hard grader if you've put in some effort. The lectures are really important to attend b/c of useful info.

She is a very good lecture, and makes this CORE class interesting. She is a fair grader...once you finally get your papers/surprise quizzes back. I thought surprise quizzes ended in HighSchool?

Great teacher, very passionate about history, and makes class very enjoyable. You do have to work and take very good notes, but she makes things interesting and easier to understand. Wish more teachers were as talented as Dr. Behre!

Very interesting teacher...i wasnt at all interested in the subject of the course until i attended her classes. kind of a lot of work...have to read a book a week, a class presentation and 10 page paper...but it is interesting material

She is a very easy teacher. Only bad thing is you can only miss 6 classes.

She's a good teacher and make the most boring material seem interesting but she is a tough grader. Lots of reading but don't pick on people in class unless they raise their hand. I recommend her over most of the history department.

Greatest professor in the history dept. She explained things clearly and never put pressure on anyone to answer questions. Lots of reading, moderate grader.. really really nice.

Dr. Behre is a great professor. She's really enthusiastic about the subject and somehow she makes history really interesting. She is somewhat of a tough grader though. Definately take her if you can.

very good teacher and knowledgable about the subject, but tough grader and tough tests. we had readings every class, 2 4-6 page papers, and a cumulative final. take her if you want an intersting class, but not if you want an easy A.

great teacher, try to take her. very understanding. writes all notes on the board tests are hard if you aren't prepared. but overall a great teacher

Passionate about subject, makes class interesting, funny, unnanounced quizes on some fridays about the weekly reading, not a lot of work, take her!

Good all round teacher. Clear lectures, not too much work. Important to go to class though because you take a lot of notes. If you do that and do the readings its not hard to get a good grade.

Very nice woman, knowledgeable, fair, class discussions occassionally dragged on and the class was a little boring

She is one of my favorite teachers of all times. Such an amazingly nice lady and very fair teacher. The class is not that hard but there is a lot to read. I really enjoyed the class.

for a good grade on essay exams she expects a lot. However she is always there for help and easily approachable (although she seems at first intimidating)

I've had her for two semesters and is an excellent professor. She's clear and won't ever fail you if u put in minimal effort. You really dont hafta read. I definately suggest taking her

would recomend. very nice lady, willing to help. class is interesting and goes by fast. tests are not difficult as long as you know the terms and can bs an ok essay. she does grade the papers slightly harder than most prof's. she is the way to go for your second history requitement. try to get her for a turbo.

Loved her! she was funny and really smart. knew what she was talking about! it was a pretty easy class. readings due once a week. maybe a quiz on them. if you pay attention in class and takes notes, mid-term and final aren't bad at all. very interesting. def take her

The material is so-so, and there is a TON of reading, but she's really nice and offers her help if you need it. Terms are important to remember. There are several pop quizzes (you know they're coming eventually but just don't know when), but she drops the lowest grade. Not a bad class at all.

She is not the easiest grader but you learn sooo much! She gives really good lectures and the class is not too boring. There is only 1 test besides the final. She gives 4 unanounced in-class quizzes about the reading but you usually know when they are going to be. If you like history, take her, but it is not an automatic A.

I took this class on Social Movements of the 60's and found it to be a really cool topic. Dr. Bucki was a little boring in her lectures but she encouraged a lot of debate. I was sometimes afraid to speak up because if you said one thing wrong she would practically yell at you, or at least shoot you down embarrassingly.

Behre is a great teacher. Go to class, take good notes, and you will be golden for the exams. Paper used sources right out of the book. Really fair on attendance, although, if you skip a lot, you will miss a lot of information.

She is a great teacher... when she teaches. I had her for Early Modern France and class was canceled all the time. Basically, you're lost for the final. Group work, midterm, one paper, and final are your grades. The paper is dictated to you and is a pain and incredibly dull. She has her favorites and is really hard to please.

She is an amazing teacher, she really knows her stuff and her passion for the topic shows...which makes the class much better. You take ALOT of notes, all dictation but you catch on to what should be copied down for the exam. Tests are not hard because she tells you what areas to focus on. Great class, approachable and fun woman...TAKE HER

Tough but fair-- you have to go to class, take copious notes, and do the reading. But if you do, you'll be totally fine! She is always willing to stay after or meet with you for help-- the tests are all essay and a large paper. Good teacher, but you cannot slack. Pop quizzes on the reading too!

Had her for a turbo--highly recommended. She makes time fly by. Take notes in class; she tests more from what she says in class than from the text. She'll give obvious warning when a quiz is approaching. And she'll give you exclusive hints in office hours. Rough on grammar in papers, though. Great humor, great woman!

Awesome teacher! Kind of difficult grader on writing assignments but emphasizes everything you need to know for the tests. Tests are all writing (IDs/one essay). Very interesting lectures, I always enjoyed coming to class!

Dr. Behre is really nice! Unfortunately, this class is snooze city. It's so boring but this is her area of study and she loves it. A LOT OF READING! The books are awful and there is a 20 page research paper at the end but she is super helpful about discussing topics and to help every step of the way with the paper. Take if nothing else is left.

Shes a nice person, the university requires history 0030 to be taught rigorously so it isnt like you can go find an easy history teacher at ffld. with that said, she does what she can to help you. the neagtives are though that she is serious, and i mean serious, about Chicago formatting for the essay. dont mess that up.

I love this professor! She is so nice and caring. She is almost motherly! Very approachable and smart. Very interesting to listen to. Slightly harder grader than I would have expected.

She know's her stuff. Went to Ivy league both undergrad and graduate school. RIDICULOUS grader for an intro to history class. You have to work hard just to get a C, let alone a B. Chances of you getting an A in this class are very impossible, even if you really try. Avoid if you want to just get by in history. She should be a majors only class.

Dr. Behre is pretty enthusiastic about lecturing history. The class was interesting overall, but I made the mistake of taking the history turbo. If you can handle sitting in a room for 2.5 hrs listening to history than take her for her turbo, otherwise take her for reg classes. I always found myself losing focus 1.5 hrs in. Final, midterm, paper

Class went by quick. Not a lot of work. One midterm, one big paper, a couple very short in class essays based on readings (drops lowest) and a final. Extremely straight forward. If you care about your grades, you will be fine with Professor Behre.

She's a really good teacher for anyone looking for your first history core. It is not the easiest class but if you read and participate you will do well. She allows rewrites for some papers which is really great. Overall would recommend. I'm sure there are easier teachers but I did enjoy her class and found it manageable.

All Fairfield history professers are hard but Behre made the class manageable. Although she is a tough grader she makes her expectations clear. If you have good notes, do the readings, and study alot, you should do fine.

Don't let her reviews scare you, I'm taking her for a second time! Even though she is a tough grader with lots of reading, she is very sweet and I honestly enjoy her class and teaching style

idk why her reviews are so bad, i loved her intro class. lecture heavy but easy to follow as she lectures like she's telling a story. basically tells u when ur getting a "pop" quiz on the primary source reading she assigns for that week. tests are fairly easy if you show up and take notes. gives good feedback, especially on the 1 paper you write.

She's a great professor. She does talk a lot but is very into it. She will test you on your reading ever so often. She has given us 2 or 3 papers that were easy to write. If you're ever confused she will take the time to go over things with you as long as you put in the effort.
