The entire lecture is powerpoint and copied almost directly from the book, so it can get REAL boring. I hated psych going in to Freshman year. Somehow after taking this class, I somehow have a genuine interest in psychology. Exams are difficult, but there is extra credit that will make-up for it. She has a TON of stories bc of her extensive experience in the field, which always make lectures interesting. Recommend taking Psych 202 with her.

Easy class, she posts the lectures online so you can just watch them there. All I did was make flashcards for all of her lecture slides (4 exams, so you have some slack) and got an A. Extra credit raised my grade from an AB to an A, so make sure you do that. It's super easy quizzes that you take after class. Good professor, kind of boring but nice!

Absolutely amazing and life changing class. Would highly recommend. Tests are mostly straightforward and there is a giant extra credit assignment that is very helpful. One research paper, but not bad. Really changed my perspective on the criminal justice system. Easily one of the best classes Ive taken.

I always got a C or below on the tests, however I ended the class with an A because I attended all lectures, discussion, and did the huge extra credit assignment (worth about 25 points I believe). You do have to write a literature review with 10 sources, which was difficult but doable. Sort of boring lectures but the info was thought provoking

I was really passionate about forensic psych before but Coffey really solidified that. She is knowledgeable about the topic and really goes out of her way to make students interested too. Lectures can sometimes get a bit dry, but overall they were really thought-provoking. She always answers questions and truly cares. Go to the prison simulation!

One of the Best Psych 202 professors! She wants you to pass the class and give you all the tool necessary to do so. The class is very lecture heavy, but each one is posted and voice recorded. Tests are challenging, but all multiple choice and do able if you attend class and put in effort outside of class. Not a significant amount of homework either

Not a lot of homework. Must study for tests, pretty difficult. She goes through lectures so fast and it is hard to keep up-it gets very annoying, fast. I am always SOOO bored every lecture no matter how hard I try to focus. I feel like she means well, but she is very annoying about electronic use and talking. Very happy to be done with the class.

Power lectures were tough but she tried to make the topics interesting by including videos that were related to the material. No textbook needed and all lectures were recorded and posted promptly. Extra credit was also offered that raised by one grade level. Patty tried her best to make the class fair. Tests were directly related to lectures.

She gives the opportunity for up to 15 points extra credit. I took psych 202 with her in fall 2019 and it was so so easy. I never went to class, all the lectures are recorded and online. Her tests are exclusively the examples from in class. I would recommend not going to class and watching the videos instead because she talks so fast!

The class was not quite as interesting as I had hoped, but Dr. Coffey is so passionate about the material and it shows. Lecture and discussion attendance are mandatory, but I largely feel that they were helpful and worth my time. Give assignments and paper drafts a real try, and don't wait to study for an exam until 2 days before.

All the lectures were asynchronous and the tests have questions covered in her lectures. She gives a textbook for extra review but you don't need to read it to do well on the tests. All the tests had high averages so there was no curve. You do have to write 5 1 page papers but they are easy and boost your grade. She's the best Psych202 prof imo

Professor Coffey is my favorite professor so far! She is a great lecturer and I got a lot out of the class. Her assignments were very fair and mainly just to make sure you keep up with the asynchronous class. Tests are open-note and plenty of chances for extra credit. She is very knowledgeable about psychology and I would definitely recommend her.

Professor Coffey is great at communicating with the class throughout the semester. Her lectures are a little long and boring at times, but she always provides real-life applications to the concepts we learn. There is a lot of material, so you will need to carefully take notes and study, but the exams are manageable. I really enjoyed the class.

Lectures are really informative and interesting. weekly quizzes are super easy, and the same questions from these quizzes appear on the exams. There are 3 exams, you read 3 books, and write one paper. The process of the paper is broken down so its simple. Overall, great and interesting class, I had a good experience even though it was all online.

Dr. Coffey is so knowledgable and clearly is well-respected in this field. The first section of the class is probs the most interesting and it sort of gets a bit more boring as the semester goes on. She assigns tons of readings but just read the books and then do the other readings as they're referenced in the take homes. Exams are easy.

This is my favorite Psychology course I have taken at UW. Patti is very kind, knowledgeable, and funny. She presents material clearly and in a way that gets students ready for exams. Exams, papers, and assignments are all well-defined and doable given the instruction. I would easily take her again and I am glad that I was able to take her class.

I took honors psych and it was tough. Your grade is basically decided by the super-specific multiple-choice tests and this paper you spend the semester working on. You do all this weekly stuff that doesn't even really matter in the end. I did all the extra credit to finish with an AB. She's a decent prof just a bad setup for the class.

Attendance for the discussion and lecture was mandatory, but the discussion really helped the class! She made us do an AI assignment that was not fun, so be prepared for that lol.
