Very nice lady. Expectations are clear even though this is a hard course. Cares about her students. Answers all questions. Lectures are clear. Pleasant, never cross. Does a great job of reaching students with difficult material. Takes time to answer questions after class. If you don't slack, she will help you. Highly recommend. HUGE asset to BMCC.
the worst professor ever. dont take her bc u NEED an A!she will tell you attendance isnt mandatory but then go on to say how she will fail u for it.lab exams every week and doesnt go over the basic part of anatomy, the anatomy of the human body!all of her class minus med ass are lost and learn by reading. but will fail u if u pass her.
if your a medical assistant and already know it,take it. if your a normal student that wants to get into nursing run. no where near an easy B, forget A. cant figure out blackboard to put her powerpoint notes up but will fail you for reading past her in the book when you wont even know where she is.wont teach anatomy of the body your on your own
Disorganized! Did not know that the textbook changed from past semesters & hasn't updated her exams to reflect the current text-a problem as you must teach yourself from the book. Non-native english speaker;exam questions are VERY unclear & she doesn't understand students essay answers though they are clear to other native english speakers.
This teacher is very disorganized. She is very stern on punctuality and chewing in lab. She speaks horrible english and her sarcasm is ridiculous her knowledge of the material would have been helpful if she was more descriptive when teaching. She basically leaves u with the book to fend for self. I hated this class n happy its damn near over
I am not one to talk poorly of professors, but this is really bad professor, forget the fact that she doesn't speak clear understandable English but she doesn't explain the materials. She reads directly from blackboard and doesn't explain to material for the students to understand. Run if you are trying to get a decent grade in this class

This professor is not as bad as people said. All of her notes make since even though they are powerpoint. The questions on the test come directly from her study packets and all you need to do is your part STUDY! It was a good experience and I actually learned enough to be able to teach some of the topics myself. I would definately recommend her
I took this class in the summer and I must say that it was pretty easy. Her tests were based on her review sheets so study that and you are fine. She is understandable, and very knowledgeable. I recommend her.
this is the best bio425 prof. she uses all the tools available to teach and exams. she gives review exams, memeorize them and your in the clear. she gives extra point at lab and end of semester< but she is a stickler for spelling. she is a nice person and eventually opens up and throws in humour. wis she taught 426.

Very boring, monotone, reads straight out of powerpoint slides.Disorganized, does not really teach.All I learned during her class was to memorize her packets in order to get a good grade.I got an A but do not feel like I really learned anything. 10 "short answers" in every exam which she grades incredibly hard. Does not seem to care about students
Great professor
She is very organized and helpful. She always gives extra credits for lab and questions u answer during the class. Labs are very interesting and easy, as she explains everything before u start. I wish she taught 426.

Online lecture, classroom lab over the summer semester in 6 weeks. Definitely daunting but doable with Prof Deleon. She tells you exactly what she wants & gives you all the answers to memorize for exams. Not much lab instruction but enables group learning. A little sassy but I like it. Do the work, you'll get the A.
she is a very sweet professor and somewhat corny. Her lectures is basically reading from a PowerPoint,Try and stay awake if you can. Her labs are a bit intense and sometimes she won't answer your questions. Her quizzes are easy for you to memorize but her exams are a bit difficult. Her grading is a bit disorganized and confusing. Wouldn't take her.
Hybrid A&P Class, online & lab in person. The online lectures are not stimulating, nor are the 4 second voice clips. Don't expect to ever hear a lecture, or be given anything more than basic instruction how to complete your lab with your partners. There is no feedback, and if she gives you an answer be careful because she may mark it wrong later.
Lectures are online and labs are in person. Lectures are posted to blackboard, there is a quiz each time the class meet and unless there is an exam. Labs are done with a partner. The grading criteria is not very clear. She is not a hard professor, Getting good grade requires very little effort. Do Not Miss Class!
If you really want that easy A with no effort, I would definitely take her class. Online lectures and in-class lab. You can't make up any labs so don't miss class. Her quizzes and exams are seriously based on the review packets she gives (word for word). She also gives somewhat leeway if she makes a mistake. Beware of lost papers and late grading
You get a quiz every time the class meets. All test questions and answers are online. Lecture is from a powerpoint. She only does lab. She's very disrespectful. I learned nothing in this class. You can take this class on if you don't care about learning.
Great nutrition prof. all the material was on blackboard as it was an online class. Clear grading material and always returned emails back in a flash . Highly recommended!

I wouldn't take her, she post things late on blackboard, which drops your grade significantly, be careful if you take her. Also, her attitude isn't good.
No idea why she is getting bad reviews. She literally gives you all the questions from the test ahead of time. If your working full-time take it and skate to the A.

Dr. Deleon was an easy A for online nutrition. All you have to do is complete the Connect assignments (multiple choice, unlimited number of tries), post two comments online for each lecture, and make sure you've completed the questions in the study guides for the tests (all questions from tests will be from the study guide). Highly recommend.
Very confusing. Quizzes are based on lectures, but marks answers from lectures as incorrect. Her grading and instructions are unclear and ambiguous. If you are trying to get into a nursing program please avoid her, you need a clear and concise professor. She is not it.
The course was not very interesting, professor was not engaging. The tests and lectures were confusing . It was a frustrating experience... that said, easy A if you can get through it.
Took her for Nutrition fully online for summer. Attendance is counted by making comments on each slide after you read it. The class is easy if you have a science background. Everything was online or via email. Contact is through email which she checks on a certain day. There are some technical issues with the course which she works with you on.
Took this online over the summer. Sad to say I did not learn a thing. Test were also a little unclear. Easy A but don't plan on learning anything.
Took her on line class passed exams and was given a C-. it was an online class but we met on campus for lab. She refused to answer any questions the students had , always telling us to read the slides she gave some students extra points but didnt do it for others . Very unfair grading practices.
This professor give a study guide and the study guide had nothing to do with the exam .. made no sense having a study guy and her exam is 50 question all short answers .. this was a summer class and I regret taking her ! Save ur energy and take someone else. Anatomy is a lot of memorization imagine taking a summer class and only short answers ugh
Worst teacher ever in history...
I really liked her. She is sassy but she's not a bad professor. Just be on time and show up to class. The answers on her exams are based off the lectures on line, you can listen to the lecture or you can go from the power point.
this professor was the worst, literally the worst class i've taken since at bmcc she has no understanding for her students .i actually like A& P but she made me resent A & P she gives study guides that has nothing to do with the exam NOTHING test are very heavy .stay away do not take her class or you will fail no matter how much you study
This professor should choose another career. Teaching is not in the cards for her. Go through her slides and lectures thousands of times and you still will not find a single line you can write in her open ended exam questions. Even reading the chapters and understanding the topics will give you at most a 60 on her exams
In my opinion this professor shouldnt be teaching ! I dont know why BMCC considers her as a professor, she doesnt help you with anything! You can ask her a question and she wont help you, shell just suggest you to look at the lectures,and to make the matter worst her lectures have nothing to do with the exams. Dont take this class with her!!!
To be very honest, I don't think anyone should take this Professor. You will be teaching yourself. She is not helpful, makes you google every question, lectures are terrible. Nothing from her study guides or slides will be on the test, she wants you to literally memorize every little detail Her test are impossible to pass. 50 questions short answer
If taking this during Summer 7 weeks: -every day in the lab you'll be graded for a quiz and random pages of the lab manual. All of this is only worth 10% -Assignments are the homework and are due every night before class for 10% -60% (3 exams each worth 20% made of 50 short answer Q's. Based on hundreds of slides that you have to learn) -Final
Exams are extremely hard and impossible to Ace. She does not teach you anything in class and is intimidating to ask questions to. She tells you to look up answers but if you don't understand the answer you found she'll say "try your best" and will not explain it to you even though you will be tested on it. She deducts points whenever she can. Avoid
My advice to everyone is to avoid this professor. She is the worse ever, if you dont understand something and you ask a question her response is something in the form of I can only guide you to the answer I cant tell you. Her study guides for exams are useless. She doesnt actually teach. Avoid taking this professor as best as possible

Dr. Patricia DeLeon is an example of what higher education went wrong. I have no doubt she is incredibly knowledgeable in the subject as she is funded by CUNY on some biochemistry & reiki research. However, from my experience, Dr. DeLeon was unhelpful, unclear with far from sub-par PowerPoint, graded unfairly and inconsistent with hw and quizzes.
A really wonderful professor; I don't know why she gets a bad rap on here. She is a somewhat nit-picky grader but is always available to answer questions and is responsive on email. You can tell she cares about her students and wants us to succeed. She is exceedingly clear about what she expects, how she grades, and how to do well in her class.
She definitely knows her stuff! The course is exam heavy but what A&P class isn't? She recorded her explanations of each lecture for us and had office hours where you could go ask questions. If you don't want to watch the lectures and study, that's on you. The pre-labs and quizzes are easy and she gives you plenty of ways to get extra credit.
She doesn't teach. When she explains something you get more confused more than you did before.
I took this professor back in spring 2020 before and during COVID-19 happened. She is a very nice person, but her grading is not the greatest. Most of your grades will depend on the quizzes for the labs with 10 questions and exams from the lecture with 50 questions on it. I didn't learn much from being in her class, and I wouldn't recommend her.
Beware of Deleon, She doesnt grade papers on time and when she does she takes points off for no reason. Shes the worse and taking her would make your gpa decline.

Should I had only given the change to read all the comments posted in here before I had my enrollment to her class, I would not be among the students who suffered poor learning experience from teacher who seems too tire to conduct actual teaching lesson. Whole semester lessons were given only thru power point diagrams / few recorded voice teaching!
I also received an F and missed assignments that i was told the lowest grade would drop. She ended up helping me in the end so I am grateful for that. However, the lectures were too lengthy and pre-recorded. The labs were fine. Just be careful with sounding too generic when answering her questions, she likes simple answers to her questions.
Worst haughty professor ever had. If you want complicated, welcome to this class. Worst is she takes out points from assignments without reason; despite any effort to get clarity on grading expectations. Spends 30 mins on roll call and again repeats everyone's name with "name, are you ok?" while trying to do the lab. You will not be ok!
She was by far the worse i had to drop the class. Her exams are impossible to pass, I don't even think she fully grasp how impossible she is. she marked a question wrong on the exam that was most def correct. She gives no explanation on why it's wrong. When i was in the class students had to email the chair to complain. AVOID HER AT ALL COST

She does not explain at all, she always comments back with CAPS as if she's yelling. She is not clear about her assignments or criteria. Just don't take her your GPA will suffer.

My experience with this Professor was very challenging because how can I admire a professor who does not have respect for her students. She is rude, she does not teach you anything in class, and if all her students ask her to be more of an instructor she is unwilling. Her exams are poorly structured, meaning sentence phrases and intent. VERY AGAIN
I lost years of my life taking this course. She has a PhD and expects you to have this same understanding of the material. Absolutely none of(and I truly mean none) of the materials she supplies are in any way helpful for her tests. Her assignments seem like easy 100s but she grades them SO harshly. 30hrs of work a week. Don't do this to yourself.
Hands down the worst professor Ive ever had. She is rude, condescending and has no knowledge whatsoever on how to teach a class. Shes extremely difficult with her grading, does not like to answer questions in class. Labs online are useless, no conversation whatsoever. Save yourself a huge headache and stress, AVOID this professor at all costs.

She over complicates things all the time and if you even provide the right answer; if she did not describe it in her audio recordings(yes you need to listen to these to pass); youre done. I had to meet with her soo many times to get points back and when I brought proof of what it says in the text, she would only give partial credit.
I can't really imagine a worse experience. In seven weeks she did not answer a single email- seven were sent. Her slides were sometimes not even labeled. This was for an asynchronous online class so you basically had to guess what it might mean.

This review is long overdue One thing that doesn't surprise me are the bad reviews because they are the truth! She gave me a panic attack after giving me the wrong grade for my final grade. Very tough grader. Labs must be exact to what she explains in her lectures, all answers must be in her own words. Exams are completely different from the study guide she provides.
Graded only by 3 exams, 1 final. Exams aren't hard but for short answers it must be 1-2 sentences short or else she will minus points just because its "too long" even if it's correct. Didn't learn much, I learned more from the textbooks than her recordings. Didn't post exam on time and didn't email us until next day, hard to reach.
Professor Deleon was respectful towards me. I learned a lot from her posted lectures and when I was confused I could reach her in office hours or via email or during in person lab . A&P1 was challenging and is known to be challenging because there is so much to cover in one semester. Keep up with the lecture and read the text to supplement.

I actually started to not believe the reviews, I took The Biology class with Ms DeLeon, she is actually a very kind teacher always with a positive attitude. She helps you throughout the course whenever you need( class, email..) If you do not understand just ask she do not mind explaining further. She is working hard and cares about the students.
My lecture was online and my lab was in person. She was a horrible teacher, myself and many other people in the class agreed that she does not teach us at all. She leaves us confused. I also dropped her class because I knew I was going to fail since I was not learning anything. I will wait to take it again next seamster with a different teacher with a better rating!
Please don't waste your time with this professor. Just run. Assignment instructions are 3 words long, very unclear, and she will remove points for you not being detailed enough.... she is the !definition! of unfair grading. The entire semester is based off of 2 exams, a final and about 5-6 assignments, that's it. If you care about your grade, RUN!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR! I have been an A+ student all my life, this was the hardest most unfair class I have ever taken. She doesn't teach anything, relies only on PowerPoints, study guides do not match the exams at all, and labs have to be answered exactly how she imagines the answer in her head or its marked wrong.
I already have a degree was A-B student, but this teacher is completely checked out. Tenured and waiting to retire, DeLeon cares about her way and ease. Her study guides are long-outdated, a video lecture probably from Covid 2020 is her only resource. She does not teach, does not talk, and is there for a check. Do not expect any proactivity.
I'll be honest - This professor doesn't really... teach. Her lecture slides are online, and she seems checked out during the labs. There are no homework assignments, she doesn't announce or review exams, each four exams are worth 400 points, and there are quizzes at the end of each lab which aren't so bad. Don't take this professor.
This Professor has to be one of the worst at BMCC. absent almost every class, her grading makes no sense. I am a straight A student and I'm failing. DO NOT TAKE HER! Write too much? It's “irrelevant.” Too little? It's “vague” half credit. Ask for help? Blames you &says you have to do better. OBVIOUSLY maybe if you actually taught & did your job!!!
Unfair grading with no clear rubric. Write too much-half credit. Write too little-still half credit. Even when you follow directions, you lose points with no explanation. Feedback is vague or missing, and asking for help doesn't change anything. This class should've been an easy A, but it tanked my GPA. Super frustrating! DO NOT TAKE HER
This professor don't teach lab. Was out for for the first three lab classes. Don't teach the lab at all or go over the lab. Her grading system is crazy this lady make grades. If she is your lab teacher run drop the class asap so I can imagine if she was your lecture teacher run
A literal nightmare.. her grading is very unfair 80% of your grade is determined by your test grades, and there are so many questions you've never learned on. She doesn't teach anything, all you're doing in person is the workbook which is only 20% of your grade. We started as a class of 20 and was down to 8 by the withdraw due date.

my experience with her has been extremely disappointing. I found her to be unprofessional, dismissive and condescending when students asked for help or clarification. Her grading felt inconsistent and unfair, and there was little to no constructive feedback provided.
An incredible professor and an even better person! She's old-school and tough, which works great for this course. She demands full attention and respect—something all professors should do. She's patient, reviews your grades with you, and allows make-up work. I truly appreciated her class and will definitely miss her!
She asks many trick questions instead of ones that test real understanding. It's frustrating, and she grades tough. If you can, I wouldn't take her class. Grades were only from quizzes and tests, no homework. I stressed more about getting the right answers than actually learning.
Avoid this professor. She can easily ruin your GPA. She's unclear, disorganized, and doesn't know how to use Brightspace. Quizzes and exams are random and scheduling is unclear. Grading is arbitrary/subjective even for correct answers. You will likely get many wrong that aren't actually wrong. She gives no guidance whatsoever.
Worst professor that you can take in your life. She gives assignments every week in class that is "supposed" based on the lecture. These assignments DOESN'T correlate at all. You can use her lectures and the internet to answer them but for some reason you still get it wrong or given less than half the credit. Dropped class so it wont affect gpa.
