Wow, what a challenging class. I learned a ton in her class though! You take tons, and I mean tons, of notes in her class. You get to watch videos, and she makes the class as entertaining as history can get. Hard class, but I am taking her for 102, so she must be doing something right!
Very difficult, nothing but notes and boring movies, same stuff everyday, didnt like.
Very fruity, not a perticulary good teacher
alot of notes. time consuming, but should be easy if you study. get to use notecards.
I didn't think that she was a bad teacher, but she's not easy. It was a difficult class for me since I'm really not into History. She's really fast paced and you take a lot of notes.
CRAZY, WILD, FUN. GREAT TEACHER BUT DIFFICULT. TAKE LOTS OF NOTES AND DON'T MISS CLASS AND YOU WILL DO FINE.
Awesome teacher! Super friendly, outgoing. Makes class fun. Everyone should take this class!!!
Great teacher with LOTS of personality! She makes class fun and exciting! But make sure you study becuz her tests are kind of hard. Take notes and pay attention to her, especially when she pauses after she says something! Makes History fun, if thats possible!
I had her for both history classes. Attendence mandatory! Take LOTS of notes. Use your note card. Read your book! Study from day 1 and you will be fine! Lots of fun. You'll love her!
She is a very energetic teacher, and loves what she teaches which is what you want in a teacher. But if you don't read or study then she is not the teacher for you!
VERY interesting teacher...take lots of notes and read the book...take advantage of the notecard u get to use on tests and u will be fine.
ridiculous. it seems like she actually tries to make people fail. she always said "this is like a university class", it wasn't. she's in port huron, not at michigan state.the content isn't hard, but she bombards you with useless paper, and takes one liners out of the book to purposely try to trip you up, even if you did read the text.never again!
She's exciting and funny!
Awesome! She really knows her stuff!
P Frank is bomb digs! you'll love her! I didn't use my book a lot, most of her test questions are from the lecture but you will want it for reference and the one take home test. Studying is a must! i am a history person and fond it overly necessary. Best history teacher i have ever had! i highly recommend her. she is way hot!
p frank rocks. you need to take her class. makes history fun and exciting. keep an open mind and be prepared to do some fun and interesting exercises. ask her to have another cocktail party, because that was the absolute BEST day of class!
She's cool, fun, interesting, the best professor at SC4. Mrs. Frank rocks!
Best history teacher I ever had. Will you work hard? Yes! Will you learn? YES! Professor Frank makes it interesting, plus you have fun at the same time. Would definitely take her again. She is an SC4 prof. who will actually teach you something. If you want to remain uneducated, don't take her.
excellent teacher. very engaging, really knows her stuff and makes the material fun. Highly recommended! she is pretty cute too.
She was one of my favorite teachers ever. She was clear on everything and covered it well. If it was on her test than she had talked about it in class and she was really energetic and a lot of fun. I considered taking another one of her classes just to have her as a teacher.
PHENOMENAL TEACHER! This course is difficult, and requires a lot of time inside, and outside of the classroom, but it's well worth your efforts!!!! Mrs. Frank is BY FAR one of the best teachers on campus!
Mrs. Frank is a great teacher. She is very energetic and genuinely interested in the subject matter and her studnt's progress. She incorporates fun activities for points as well, as power points. Her tests are all essays, which is hard. But she gives you every question ahead of time and prepares you well! I would definantly recommend taking her cla
Absolutely the best teacher I've had. She is a rarity on the SC4 campus. Her classes are the closest to university level I've had at SC4. She makes class entertaining and interesting. Her lectures are always funny. She makes learning fun and it's obvious she loves her job. She cares about her students and the subject. Take her class! Study! Enjoy
Mrs. Frank is an outstanding instructor..she uses film, lecture, reenactments, etc., never boring, tests are hard but you will learn volumes. One of the BEST teachers @ SC4
This teacher was the hardest teacher I have ever had. Her tests are crazy hard. If you are some what of a slaker, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! (Im a slacker)
She's entertaining and treats everyone fairly. You have to come to class everyday or you'll miss out on a hundred years and that won't be good.
Great teacher! She's very funny and makes class really interesting. She's the best teacher I've ever had. Come to class everyday. There's always notes or videos to watch. The book isn't really used during class, but you need to read it to do well on the tests. Tests are always mulitiple choice and essay. Lets you use a notecard on all tests.
Professor Frank is a great a teacher. You will LEARN from her. It is evident that she loves her job. This class is no joke...you must be able to write great essays on tests to get an A. Buy the book and USE it if you want to get an A! There is no way to fake your way through this class, you have to study for the tests if you want to be sucessful.
Excellent instructor. I would recommend her if you need to take a history class. Mrs. Frank makes the course interesting and fun. Very positive experience.
Excellent presentations! tests are hard but informative!
I am by no way into history but truly enjoyed this class. She made it fun adn entertaining and even brought into view how knowing this history would truly be uselful. Despite the formate for our research oaoers changing, they were still easy and fun to do. I would definitely reccomend her to those willing to work for their grade.
I loved Mrs. Frank, she is a great teacher and probally the funniest I've ever had, I dont think she got mad one one time all semester. In terms of the grading this is how it goes, Quizes are hard but she lets you use a large notecard on everyone so that should help a lot, and if u write good essays she will reward you with good grades!!!
Makes the class very interesting and fun! Must attend class to get in class assignment points. Tough information and 3 papers, but Mrs. Frank is always there to help.
Makes the class worth showing up for.
The only class I like showing up for , and it was a four hour night class. Its not easy, you really have to pay attention, but there is barely any homework. Just listen and take a lot of notes in the outlines she gives you. Great professor, keeps you awake and paying attention, and I don't even like history at all!
You have to go to class, lots of info that will be needed on the test. Not a push over class but lots of points and tests.
Very lively and friendly. A lot of classwork/homework but study good and you'll do fine. Attendance is mandatory-too much info and will put you behind.
She ione of the best teachers i have had so far. Lecture is important and she is very entertaining!
Her expectations for the individual is unrealistic. She may be funny in class and easy to pay attention to, but if you miss a day it really ruins your next test. She also expects you to spend an unrealistic amount of time outside of class for her course. It seems to me that she forgot about jobs, other classes, and family when teaching this course.
One of my favorite teachers i have had. She keeps the class very interesting. Recommend her if you like history.
Amazing teacher. I don't like history and I'm not good at it but the way she taught it made it easy to remember and exciting to learn. Her tests are a bit difficult but if you come to every class and take notes then you'll do fine.
I did not like her class at all. She taught evolution as a fact then when we talked about Christianity she laughed as she talked about it. I felt like she put her personal opinions on the class instead of just teaching it. Her rules made me feel like I was in high school again. Don't recommend her class.
Mrs. Frank was a hard grader and her tests are hard! The group project was pretty stupid and a lot of work. Class is very boring and she expects perfection out of everyone. Try to avoid taking her for 101
I really liked her, she was vey thorough and was clearly interested in what she teaches. Her assignments were interesting and some were unusual, like planking in the hallway during a WWI lecture. But she kept things fun and interesting.
Amazing professor. Class makes you work for the grade. If you want to pass take a lot of notes and study for her tests. Learned a lot about history. She's funny and makes you want to actually come to class. I definitely respected her. I suggest not to skip too much because you need to know the information she gives in lectures so you can do well.
I love Mrs. Frank as a professor! Definitely a class you have to work at to get the grade you want. A lot of studying, but this is true for any history class.
I love Mrs. Frank.!! But her class is not a fly by, you have to work for your grade. There is no extra credit, none at all. She's really into what she teaches, she's a runner so she travels to run. This year she went to Rome to run for a week and we didn't have class, which was amazing.
She is one of my favorite teachers. She does have one large group project in Western Civ 101, but her grading for it is fair. She keeps class interesting and most of her assignments are out of the box. She loves what she teaches. I don't suggest missing a class for lecture is important in passing her tests. Overall she is great.
Awesome class, amazing instructor, fun learning experience, definitely a mus have instructor!
Absoluetly amazing. She is very passionate about history especially ancient greece, she really makes history come alive. Although she rarelygives extra credit if at all the possible point opportunities are outlined at the begging of the class.
Mrs. Frank really enjoys history, and makes class extremely fun for her students. Although fun, her class is not a cake walk; she rarely gives out extra-credit. I took both classes with out getting the text and passed with a B average. Although she covers the material in class, I recommend picking up the textbook.
I wasn't one for history to begin with, but Professor Frank made it interesting and a very enjoyable experience. I learned a lot in this class, and honestly will miss this class. Professor Frank is easy to get along with and has a great sense of humor. if you are ready to work hard and show up to class you I guarantee that you will pass.
Professor Frank is absolutely wonderful. She truly cares about her subject and her students. She makes the class very interesting and engaging. Before this class I had very little to no interest in history but she really influenced the way I approached this subject. I would recommend her class to anyone.
Good teacher.
I enjoyed her so much that I'm back for a second dose in HIS-102! Honestly, she really makes it enjoyable to learn in her class; she really enjoys what she does! She's funny, upbeat and really answers any questions to the fullest.
She's very energetic and passionate. She's shown me a new side to history, that isn't boring and mucked up. I plan on declaring my minor in Cultural Anthropology because of her. She is so amazing.
History can be boring, but not with Frank! Funny, and makes learning hist pretty fun, but if you do not attend her lectures, and if you do not read your textbook.. YOU WON'T PASS! Grading is weighted very heavily on the tests given, and you really gotta know your stuff to pass them. But I had fun in the class and I learned a ton! Would recommend.
Mrs. Frank has by far been my favorite college professor to date. She's extremely engaged in the class, and while the classes do cover lots of content, she does an excellent job at presenting it to you. Her lectures are funny but participation in the sense of actively taking notes is important; subsequently, she gives you all the tools to succeed!
Worst teacher I have ever had in the history of going to school. She goes on and on about topics and doesn't give you a study guide. Exams are all essay style questions. If she doesn't like you she will grade your assignments very hard and will be out to fail you.
Such a good woman and great professor but the course itself is a lot of work. It's worth it though.
Mrs. Frank is by far my favorite prof to date. I took both of her classes and loved them both. She is so passionate about history and makes it interesting for people who don't like it. If you miss class you miss out on lecture which the exams are based off of so go to class. She doesn't do extra credit and grades on a college level. Amazing person
It is clear that she is very passionate about what she's teaching, which makes the lectures easier to get through. She brings her personality into what she is teaching and how she explains things. I adore this woman, she is a wonderful professor. A few words of advice, she is not an easy A. If you don't take notes during lecture you will not pass.
my experience was amazing. Frank tests over her lectures only so i wouldn't skip. test to assignments ratio is fair however, she gives no extra credit. the textbook is not needed unless you want an 'A'
She is one of my favorite teachers/professors I have ever had. She's so into her lectures and loves history. It makes it easier for you to learn and get into it. Study her handouts and take good notes.
Even though I took an online class--I don't know--I just liked this professor. She seems to genuinely love teaching. The quizzes are easy enough that you don't have to do all the reading if you are quick with a Wikipedia or textbook search. ;) Occasionally, you might even find an answer on Quizlet.
P. Frank is my absolute favorite professor! Many students in my lecture did not like Professor Frank but if you like History, she is the perfect choice. She is an extremely passionate teacher and makes each lecture interesting and kind of funny. In her lectures, she talks in story mode to really immerse students in the material. Best Prof Ever!
I had Prof. Frank for an online class so I just googled the answers on the test or used an app on my phone but she had amazing lectures, was willing to help you with anything, very passionate about her job, and wants to help you succeed. If you need the extra help on a chapter she is willing to video chat with you and do private lectures.
She has nice lectures that are informative and interesting. However, her tests are so specific that you would have to memorize word for word out of her lectures, reading, and textbook. Thinks everyone is a genius in history. Would not take it again. The amount of time this class takes you would think people do not have a life or other classes
She is very informative. I felt like she did a good job. There is a lot that you have to do in this class though. You will have to spend a day or two constantly doing work if you cannot do a little each day. I don't recommend trying to do everything last minute in this class.
Very passionate and funny! She makes lectures interesting and entertaining. Course work is a little difficult but as long as you put the work in you will be fine. Truly never a dull moment with Prof. Frank!
Her lectures were fine, but her quizzes were terrible. They come from her notes and even if you watch the lectures and do every single required reading you'll still get a bad grade on the quiz. With her discussion boards if you miss one tiny thing she'll mark you down 3 points.
She is the toughest grader Ive had all semester. I definitely wouldnt suggest her to new students
The hardest grader I've ever had. It is nearly impossible to get a 100 on a discussion, the mean for each discussion was 50-60%. If you miss a single detail, prepare to get 3 points off. Prepare to spend more than 20 hours each week just reading. The quiz each week is super specific, it is incredibly hard to get 100, even with notes.
Only take this class if you have to, even then I wouldnt recommend it. Toughest grader Ive ever had. Expects you to memorize every little detail for the quizzes. The discussion topics arent too hard, however, it is impossible to get a 100% with the way she grades. Even if you try your best and write as much as possible, you wont get a 100%.
Doesnt deserve to be a teacher, grades based on her feelings and when you turn your assignments in. If you turn them in the day its due, she grades you lower. Turn in your assignments 2 days before theyre due to get a better grade. She makes passive aggressive remarks on the feedback section for discussions and quizzes.
Definitely not a professor who wants to see her students succeed. Class should've been simple, the professor is extremely petty and will jump at any opportunity to knock off points for the most mundane details. Be sure to memorize every single word of what you learn for the quiz, and turn in discussion boards way before it's due for full credit.
P. Frank is one of the best instructors at SC4. She is very clear on what is expected and expects you to do the work. You will need to spend time outside of class to get a good grade. She is passionate about the subject and has travelled to places to learn about the subjects. Would love to be her student again!
Discussion posts grading is quite difficult, really enjoyed her lectures and assignments. Workload is heavy lots of videos, documentaries, and lectures, if you want to make quizzes easier do her optional guided notes ( really helps with comprehension and remembering everything). Teaches in a way that shows she knows understands her subject!
She does an amazing job preparing students for exams and explaining the material. Class was always interesting, and the highlight of my week.
Frank is a nice person however she lacks the skills of teaching, i feel like most of the reviews on here are biased since half of my class dropped and never bothered to review she seems self centered in her lectures talking about her “travels” and some of her lectures were unnecessarily lewd AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Take her class. The material can be a bit difficult sometimes, but she always helps and wants her students to succeed. She also gives a number of freebies for quizzes or assignments so you can have some room for error. Many of the assignments were simply participating which she made fun and engaging. She spreads positivity and is friendly.
Be ready to read! Great class and Prof
Don't expect to receive a 100% on any assignment. Her lectures are short and each week you read a new chapter from the book that the quizzes are based off of. You basically have to memorize the entire chapter to get a 100 on the quizzes. If there's a discussion post that week she will find something on it to mark you down for, seriously anything.
