Bring your pillow cause this class feels like it goes on forever. Nice lady just a very awful class
Professor Franz knows much about history but she is so very boring. She does not give alot of work and her tests and assignments are fairly easy but she is very boring.
Tests are very easy. She is very knowledgable but the lectures are dead boring and feel like they are never going to end.
fRANZ IS A VERY GOOD AND KNOWLEDGEABLE PROFESSOR WHO KNOWS HER STUFF. BUT SHE IS VERY BORING, SO I SUGGEST BRINGING YOUR PILLOWS TO HER CLASS BECAUSE YOU WILL SONRE.
Good professor, the class is a little boring but if you sit up front it is hard to go to sleep. It was not a bad experience the class was good. She gives good notes and you should take down the lectures aswell.

Very nice Professor, sweet, fairly easy. Kinda on the boring side sometimes.
She is good. I would recommend to take a night class it will be more interesting. Her assignments are pretty easy and she is not harsh on the grading. Over all she is the best history teacher in JJ.
Very boring as said before but also very informative. Test are usually multiple choice and the lowest grade is dropped. It is amazing how well she explains the information and makes sure that the student is informed as well.
P. FRANZ IS THE SWEETEST PERSON YOU WILL MEET. SHE IS A LIL PICKY ON HER WORK (I.E. PAPER <ONLY 2-3PG- PAPERS>), BUT OTHER THAN THAT SHE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
she is a Good professor
very easy professor
Good teacher and fair quizzes, 2 papers just boring..bring a pillow!!
everything you need for this class will be on the board. she claims the book is used but a B was acieved just using my notes. She is a little dry, but she is very nice and very fair.
GREAT PROF. GOT AN A-, FROM LISTENING TO HER LECTURES. SHE IS CLEAR, PRECISE AND VERY SWEET.
beware of taking this class, her grading system reallly sucks, very very hard grader
she is very arrogant and unhelpful. very, very hard grader, BEaWARE of her taking this class. she may scold you if you don't behave well. ohter than that she has very nice attitude towards her pupils.
She is a good techer and has patience. Although the class itself is very boring but if you pay attention you will do fine on the 4 test, midterm and final. She is sweet and understanding but boring.
She was a pretty good professor. But the class can get boring at times. She was very unclear with the research paper at the beginning, but cleared everything up later. I would recommend her to anyone.
She gives alot of work and loves to talk. Her tests are pretty easy if you take good notes and she posts review sheets online to help you prepare for quizzes and exams. 4 quizzes each 25 M/C, a midterm, final, and two research papers. It is alot of work but manageable if you stay ahead of her and do your reading.
She is a very sweet prof, but dont get her mad. she gives plenty of notes but quizes are good and simple, the paper she allows u to redo if you want to improve the grade.
This is the worst professor ever!! She is so boring..boring. and i repeat boring. She talks so much and gives so much notes. I recommend not to take her there are many other professor they are all much better than her no matter how bad they are.!!!
She's a great teacher who makes you earn your grade. The way she teaches makes the information very clear and her quizes are easy. She is very helpful if help is needed. Her class is not that easy, it requires you to earn your grade, but you learn a lot in the process. I got an A in her class.
I really like her. I had her for His 231 and I got an A. If you do all the work and keep up with the class then you should be fine. She is extremely helpful on a one-on-one basis. I highly recommend taking her for history
These people are NUTS... She is the worst professor I ever took. She is so boring you will be asleep the who semester if you take her. She gives like three papers that make no sense. Instead of Professor Franz her name should be Professor Clue Less!! Don't take her unless you want to be tortured!!!
She teaches well but can be boring at times.
I think shez a great professor... I had her my first semester in college, she made me want to continue. SHez really sweet... too bad I missed the final... I probably would've passed. Just dont have your phone ringing in her class... otherwise shez worth taking.
nice teacher
This professor is a genuine sweetheart, but sitting in her class is torture.. She's extremely boring and lifeless... makes the class a drag and therefore makes your mind wander off to la-la land..
sure her lectures can put you to sleep but she does know her****. she can lecture you on any given topic for hours w/o any notes. she is EXTREMELY leniant just dont over do it. also DO NOT BUY HER BOOK until it is clear that it will help you. all of her quizzes and test are from class lectures so TAKE GOOD NOTES. if you have a laptop bring it.
SHE IS SO -O-O-O-O-O-O-O EASY TAKE NOTES AND YOU LL GET AN EASY A. SHE IS SO NICE.
She may be boring....but her class is easy.....quizzes are simple and papers aren't that bad...but be warned, you must used good grammar in her papers....no fragments, run-on sentences...etc.
Great Professor! She seems to be storytelling the entire time, very easy to follow. Notes are important, but quizzes are tests are pretty easy. Five papers are due out of ten, but only one to two pages long.
very passionate about European history. A little boring but not at all a hard class. Two test and 5 two to three page papers. She would even grade the best 5 out 7. you really can not fail this class. she even allows you to REWRITE! YOU DON'T REALLY NEED THE BOOK.
she is a little boring, but she keeps you intersted.. the Book is a must. carry the book as if it is ur life. she gives quizzes and all the information is in the book. she is a fair teacher when it comes to you not bein able to come to class.
This class is an easy A. Just attend class and try to look interested (she's a little boring sometimes). Do not talk or go to sleep. Material is pretty easy. If you participate in this class, you will get a good grade. The professor is very nice and polite. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
She is a good prof. You need to do the reading and the work. Heed my warning the comment before this is correct she is somewhat boring. As long as you do the required work and are prepared in class you'll survive. But serioulsy there are some days you should remember to bring your pillow.
Fair teacher, lets you redo paper...can't get better than her...
Verrrryyy boring! but read the textbook and study for midterm and final and do ur h.w and you'll get a fair grade. Hates ppl who come in late or talks! her lectures are sometimes hard to understand but jus study and do the work
Pretty good teacher...read the text OR copy notes either one is fine....do well on reports choose 5 out of 10 one to two pages long each and you'll do well in the class....quizzes and exams not too bad.....overall good teacher
nice lady but gives way too much work
DO NOT TAKE HER! she gives sooo much work. 3 test and a final. n u have to do 7 writing assignments plus hw questions for each chapter. the 3rd test was on the last day of class and then we had a final a week later. I got a B+ but she's freaking boring. i fell asleep.u dont even learn anything from her u basically have to read the txtbook
This teacher gives way too much work and is so boring. She goes on and on about bs that's not even in the text and isn't clear. Her test aren't worth that much so I'd take her again just bc of that... Writing assignments are what matter and u can use the text for those
This teacher is crazy... She's nice and all but gives hard tests and writing assignments every week. Quizes every class ( may be departmental) reading every night... I don't think she realizes we have other classes... She's very boring and goes on and on about nonsense!!! She will probably put u to sleep!!
worst teacher i have ever had before in my life she gave a zero on a paper and said even though i made the book into my own words its plagarized. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like a nice lady but she SUCKS as a professor. Shes extremely boring and her voice i annoying. Her paper assignments are pretty easy. I spend all year struggling to stay awake n get a f*ckin C-. I wouldnt take her again if my life depended on it. If you get her...transfer out.
Hmm lets begin by saying attendance is not mandatory but her grading is based on the quiz (weekly) on readings, midterm, and final. She uses all the average and gives you a grade. She is boring but a nice Prof she is very enthusiastic about teaching! Text book is a must and blackboard :) No extra credit. You get the grade you deserve. Take her :)
I am not a fan of history, so I did not find the class at all interesting. I did an extra paper hoping to get extra credit for the work I put in but now I see it was not worth it. There was definitely too much work being handed down for a subject most find unneeded. On the positive side, she showed much enthusiasm in the subject to deaf ears.
i took her for 203 and 205 shes passionate about her job.she does talk a lot and you have to take notes.MUST READ UR TEXT BOOK! do it or she'll get mad! if you participate your good.she makes an attempt to remember people's names. Just pay attention& take notes do the essays she assigns, read bc there are reading quizzes, a midterm and final. READ!
Good teacher. Got an A. Just focus and read.
Very low usage of the textbook. You can pay attention in class and pretty much get where she is going. she gives quizzes on each section (area). Very passionate about her job. She is willing to help you & that's a plus. 2 papers, 1 midterm and final.
Often times this professor skips around the topic, and could become quite a bit confusing. Her lectures are filled with many materials and readings. So be sure to be prepared when you come to class or else you will be lost. Readings guide this class!
Professor Franz is the real deal. If you think you might want to major in history, Ancient History with her is a great place to start. She has taken the time to set up a comprehensive practice quiz section and resource section on Black Board that will really help any student who puts in a good faith effort to get an A grade. Warning! No slackers.
TONS of reading. Expects us to read novels in a matter of 2 weeks and long readings for the next class. Participation is a MUST, or she will get annoyed. Do the readings, participate daily. 3 papers, quizzes, midterm, final, and readings with questions. She is good at clarifying if necessary. Do the work and you will be good.
She talks so much!! She using PowerPoint presentation for class lectures. She puts all her information about the class on Blackboard. Takes her class very serious. She believes in respectrespect. She gives A short 5 Q's quizzes every week, 1 Midterm, 3 writing assignments, 1 extra credit paper, and 1 Final. Note: Don't slack, you won't pass!
Don't take her if you hate readings. She assigns readings almost every week and expects you to talk about them in class. Participation is a big part of your grade so raise your hand, otherwise she gets mad when no one speaks. Assigns three paper, midterm and final, study for both of them. You have to read two books. Her lectures are boring.
If you love to be bored to death, have a ton of reading to do, write ridiculously long papers, and take pointless notes, this is the perfect class for you!! Seriously though, how can you make the Salem witch trials sound so boring??!!
She is HIGHLY knowledgeable of the topic which makes it interesting. She is very specific with what she wants in her papers and overloads it with the exams. Only 2 exams and 3 quizes. She was disorganized with the syllabus which might have thrown the class off but she was so sweet, interesting, and good professor overall. (Salem History Course)
If this were your only class, it would be more manageable. The time spent for this class is a little over the top.
She's a really nice woman and her classes are very interesting. She's very kind and respectful which I really value in a teacher.
This professor seen nice at fist, but she assigned too many assignments in just one week; a "short response" up to 300 words, but she is not clear of what she wants. Also, a discussion board, another 300 words and respond to two other classmates. In top of that, a 25 minute quiz. This professor is a tough grader, so don't take her.!!!!!
There is no specific textbooks, she recommends multiple books and post readings online. You don't always have to read them you can just get the basics and understand it. Great professor she knows her stuff and can tell you anything you need to know about the class
She is a lovely person and her lectures are quite interesting and easy to follow. Yes, you have many papers to write and quizzes to take, but it is completely worth it. You will learn and you will love it. Her Salem witch trials class is a true gem.
she is very sweet and understanding but to critcal with work shes can be very boring and does not speak up but over all she is very nice.
The women is a genius in history but does not expect you to be one. If you show effort the class is an easy A. She gave a few quizzes, two essays, and then theres the midterm and final. BUT she does assign a lot of reading. (ADVICE Read a couple of pages from the reading and your good.)
The class was a lot to handle, and the professor is tough to also get a hold of which was a problem because I took her online class. She is alsoa tough grader which made taking her class the real nightmare.
she is very sweet but a tough grader she thinks her class is the only class you taking, she will give you tons of homework and quizzes with not enough time her quizzes are only 25 minutes long and you definitely have to read the material in order to understand, you dont really need the book because she post readings online
if you don't want to be in long and boring lecture then this class is not for you. The professor seems nice at first but she grades harsh and gives too much work
pros: - very kind - Professional - Organized - diligent - no textbook needed cons: - writing intensive I liked professor franz. Her class is not for everyone. If you dont go to class, dont like writing papers, and aren't good at History you will have problems. Her midterm and final (only 2 tests) were not hard and she graded leniently.
She grades on "Extra Credit". Meaning, she grades you for it as if it is something of an assigned assignment. She grades tough, and she gives a lot of work. She is terrible
Prof Franz is an excellent teacher. She is well organized, erudite and provides reading assignments and lectures that are easy to follow. She is also very kind and cuts a lot of slack around attendance and grades. This is a history class so expect to read and write. If you want a class with minimal reading and writing consider PE.
Shes fine just dont be late and participate
Shes amazing. 100%
She's a great professor and gives great feedback. There are a lot of writing, short responses, discussion board posts, & quizzes (online class).
Professor Franz was very nice and always reachable, but the amount of work she gave, even on top of an ongoing pandemic, was a bit unreasonable. If asked, she would push back the dates, but still, papers upon paper and quizzes as well. Take the class if you are ready to read and write a lot. If you are not a writer or reader, do not take the class.
do yourself a favor, DO NOT take this class.
Honestly? Her class is really difficult due to having to write a lot, although she pushes back assignments, she also gives ALOT of reading all which are scanned, over 10 pages long, for a summer class that's a lot. So I'd suggest not taking her class in the summer.
I'm currently taking Professor Franz's class and I have to say she does give a lot of work so do be prepared to read and write. But, the good thing out of this is that she gives great feedback. If you're not super into reading and/or writing, I suggest looking for a different prof.
This online semester was a disaster because she was giving us worksheets that ended up being 20 pages long. However, after the class discussed it with her she lighted the load up completely and it's way more doable. 1 major paper, discussion boards, quizzes, and short responses. She is super sweet and does everything to help you with the topics.
This professor is the hardest professor I've ever taken. She gives so much homework basically every week one quiz, short response, and a discussion board. Then, you have some papers to write and she is a hard grader. Too much work and even she can't even grade them on time. I just think she should just give us easier work because is a 200 level.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. it is not a writing intensive course yet is treated as such. Every week we must complete 1-2 discussion boards, 2 quizzes, and a 300-500 word essay. Ive done way more writing assignments in this class than I have ever done for my past writing intensive course classes. Besides 13 short essays, ode readings theres 2papers
I took HIS127 with Professor Franz during the summer. The workload was heavy and overwhelming, but as soon as the students let her know, she extended deadlines and removed some of the assignments. If I ever had an issue, they were quick to respond and very helpful.
Don't mind the negative reviews. I took this course during the summer, completely online (asynchronous). She posted new material every week, so although it is a lot of content, you work at your own pace. She's flexible with the due dates and is happy to answer any questions you may have. It is a college class, just put in the effort.
Harshest grader ever, DO NOT RECOMMEND if you have other heavy load classes and are stressed. So much work on a weekly basis but takes forever to grade. I regret taking this class.
Prof. Franz's class is alright. She's very flexible with due dates but she has a LOT of writing assignments. 1 DB, 2 quizzes, 300-500 word short responses every week. Along with 2 papers, a midterm, and final. Compared to my other classes, I've written the most for hers. Only recommend taking this class if your other classes are light work.
She's super sweet person and she's passionate about the things she teaches. She is also reasonable and flexible, I feel bad cause she is often taken advantaged of. In general, she gives 2 quizzes (mc), discussion, and short response/essay per material. 5 short essays are required through out the semester, along with 2 full 3-5 pages essay.
Do NOT take this professor. Content of class is interesting, but she takes forever to grade things. Submitting grades from March the day that the grades to the registrar are due. Feedback is insightful, but it means nothing when I get it after the semester is over. DB, short response, and 2 quizzes weekly. The workload is not the issue here.
This professor could not grade anything on time to save her life. Grading criteria at times were unclear, such as how much the extra credit counted towards our final grade. A short response (200-300 words), a discussion board, and 2 quizzes were due every week. The second paper was optional and included extra credit. Lots of reading every week.
Prof. Franz's class was very lecture and reading heavy which often had the attention of students shift. We often had to slow down on assignments as the information given to us was too much. However, if you communicate with her she is very understanding and will work with you to the best of her ability.
I took this class as an online course and she was great. She posts weekly assignments but she gives extensions so sometimes the assignments can be due in like 2 weeks. She gives extra credit for every weekly assignment and even for the finals. She was great because she gave so many extensions and even extended the final paper twice. I recommend her
The professor is nice if you communicate with her however, the workload is VERY heavy for a 101 class. The class was only interesting the first week, don't take if you don't enjoy boring history readings. Both the midterm and final are mcqs, short responses, AND 2 papers. Weekly assignments consisted of discussion boards, two quizzes and an essay.
prof assigns an excessive amount of reading, assignments, and quizzes every week, along with two lengthy exams that include MCQs, short responses, and two essays. The readings are disorganized and difficult to follow, making it challenging to keep up. Additionally, the workload for this 100-level class is unreasonably high.
She cares deeply about History. Despite her intelligence & kindness she fails to prepare the material in a way that can be understood. I wouldn't take this class unless you are truly enthusiastic about reading and Salem History. 2 quizzes, 1 essay, a discussion post, over 30 pages of reading materials, & reading questions, weekly.
horrible amount of work, doesn't grade anything, says she's receptive to feedback and rejects virtually every idea the students have. worst class i've ever taken hands down. avoid at all costs
I was excited to take this class but everything was extremely disorganized on brightspace. She grades everything last minute and the readings she provides are way too long. How are we going to know what to correct if you don't grade our work on time?
okay class, a lot of information just be ready to read and write every week but overall not bad if ur someone who like straight forward work it'll be easy!
Professor Franz is understanding, but the workload is heavy. Weekly assignments, papers, and quizzes keep you busy. Try using unstuck AI along with other resources to manage the work.
There was a lot of homework due but once you get a routine going, you can knock it out fairly quickly. There were weekly quizzes, discussion posts, and essays (350 words) that we could pick and choose which to write. She gives you everything you need for the assignments. You'll actually learn while online!
Every week in and out this professor has a million and one things for you to complete! So much reading I would have rather her cut to the chase. Have to read 20 short stories (pages and pages long) to answer multiple questions that throw you in a loop! Never take her she is such a heavy lecture and is very not communicative.
