This is her first semester teaching so her lecture style is a little bumpy. She gets test questions from the textbook question bank so memorize the textbook, the lectures are less important. Unfortunately, lecture is mandatory.
It's not a hard class if you do the reading and show up. She does a really good job explaining things that can seem dense or unclear in the book while also trying to make you laugh a little. Won't waste your time, she's very straightforward about what will and won't be on exams. She's honestly a great professor who tries to make the class fun.
not good
Professor George is awesome! She makes the subject matter as interesting as it can possibly be. She is passionate about the subject and is often funny. She is readily available in office hours and obviously cares about the students. Tests are hard, so you have to study, but I've learned a lot.
I liked her at the beginning... She told us that the test would be based on the lecture slides and 2 days before the test, she changed her mind and based the test on the online textbook. Lectures aren't great because she just reads off her notes and there's no info on slides. Textbook is dense too. Abuses TopHat, but she's nice I guess.
tests are hard. material is on tests that is not covered in class. test solely based on textbook, no point in even coming to class but there are attendance points. prof is nice but clearly students grades dont matter to her. don't take if looking to enjoy yourself and get an A
Professor George is great. The textbook we used this semester wasn't great, but I know she's changing it next semester because many people didn't like it. She cares about her students doing well, and is very accessible outside of class.
The exams are entirely based on TopHat textbook. There is no need to attend the lectures (aside from the attendance code) because they wont prepare you for the exam at all. She never explained anything in detail - it was always just broad summaries. To me, she didnt come across as very knowledgeable but she is definitely a very nice person.
She was new to USC this semester, so was feeling her way a little, but overall she is great. She really cares about the students. Her lectures are funny, which makes the content more interesting. She is very available: always in office hours and responds to emails quickly. The tests are hard, so you have to study. Overall...I would take again.
The class is hard because the material is hard. The tophat difficulties did not help either. She is a fine professor despite her inexperience. I expect she will grow in confidence in later semesters
At first, she used her own lectures which were interesting but then she began using only tophat slides and would read off a tophat script during class. Tophat lectures were not at all engaging or interesting and all of the test questions were only on tophat material. Tests were also very hard. She seems really nice but I did not enjoy this class.
she changed her teaching/testing style multiple times in just one semester which made it hard to study her inconsistency made it hard to follow and understand what was expected for us to know since the textbook was very detailed she was accessible during OH but when asking for other strategies to study, she said she had already given allresources
Her exams were difficult at the beginning, but she changed her exam format to something easier halfway through the class. Learned more from reading the textbook than actually attending lecture.
Professor George was open about being a new professor. I found her to be refreshing that she shared her life with us and spoke about her family and what she saw within her family with respect to neural development, child development, social psychology, and sex differences. She tried hard to connect with the students and often dropped funny lines.
Things we learned in class/ reading barely have anything to do with the exams. Because of that, the only way to prepare for the exam is to read everything from the textbook and hoping you just happened to remember the specific numbers that were brought up from the textbook. Not sure if I signed up for a trivia course or Abnormal Psyc. Nice prof tho
She's really really sweet. But it's her first year teaching, stay at home mom, and you can tell she just has no idea what she's doing, at the expense of the students. How can we learn the material when she doesn't even know it. Exams are insane, testing obscure facts and numbers .
While she might be very knowledgeable about the topic, SHE HAS NO TEACHING SKILLS WHATSOEVER. Be prepared to teach yourself and hope you have the correct understanding. Its a GE course, it shouldn't be as hard as shes made it. But she is very nice and tries her best. but trying isn't enough. this is USC not a random college; we need good professors
She talks so fast, literally cannot keep up with her. Gets off topic very often. Shes such a nice person but as a teacher shes lacking.
Not the class youre looking for if you just want an A without any studying but she is an awesome teacher/person. Shes been one of my favorite teachers at USC so far. I will say her tests are worded weirdly but if you know the material you will do fine (she also gives a good curve). She truly wants to help all of her students, in and out of class
Due to everything going on, Professor George has been my only teacher thats really trying to help the students and realizes bigger, more important things are going on in our lives rather than doing hours of homework. Shes also really nice and caring, absolutely love her class, would definitely recommend. Interesting subject matter too.
Exams were based more on the test books than her lectures. Tried to be accommodating and give study guides, but the ever changing criteria made it difficult to keep up.
George is a really kind, caring professor who does want her students to succeed. She cares about the well-being of her students and wants her students to talk to her if they need help. Her tests are hard; studying won't do too well, you must read the book to get an A. Overall, she is a pretty solid choice but definitely make the effort to see her.
Professor George is a newer professor and she is very passionate about what she teaches. She is funny and excited about psychology, which make class interesting. You must read the book because test material comes more from the book than lectures. She cares a lot about her students' lives in and out of the classroom. Highly recommend taking her.
A boring lecturer who makes comments that make others uncomfortable. Ridiculously hard exams, even if you study and read the textbook; asks detail questions. Assessments are easy since questions are given beforehand. Class was moved online because of COVID-19, so it's easier now, but I'm honestly not sure what my grade would have been otherwise.
She is genuinely my favourite teacher ever. I dont understand why so many people have given her a subpar rating; trust me, it is only the students who did badly in her class and did not pay attention Her class is simple if you pay attention and are regular, and her positivity glows to all her students, inspires you and will leave you with a smile!
Regardless of what some people say I thought Dr. George was super funny and a great lecturer. I can see where some people think she is controversial but I don't really agree. She explains the material well and caters towards both pre-med and non-stem majors. She also tells you exactly what will be on the assessments and the tests aren't hard.
She was very nice and accommodating during the COVID pandemic. I'm not sure how she is under normal circumstances but all in all, this class is pretty easy and so are the tests.
I took this class as a GE requirement and I have to say Professor George did nothing to help cultivate an interest in the subject. She kept reading out info from the slides which contributed to making this class boring.
Professor George is awesome and honestly one of the most caring professors at USC. She can get lost in her own notes at times or go off on tangents that may not have to do with the exam but it keeps the class interesting. Also idk why people are saying her class was so hard, I didn't read the textbook once... definitely take her class if you can
A nice and caring person, and funny in her own quirky way. Reminds me of Jess in New Girl haha. 2 reasons why I give her a 4 instead of a 5: Her Blackboard assignments, readings, slides, etc are VERY unorganized. It took me a long time every week to even understand what/where the homework was etc. She also sometimes tends to talk and talk.
I really enjoyed Prof. George's class. Compared to all of my other professors during the COVID semester, she was extremely accommodating, which I feel displayed her true caring nature. She always offered help to those who seemed to be struggling and always seemed excited to teach. She's always been very nice with every interaction I've had with her
Professor George is super nice and caring. She completely shifted her curriculum for online format, making almost no stress for us! She reads a script during class, so lectures can be a little boring but you can tell she's doing her best and just wants us to learn.
Professor George is hands down the most wonderful professor I have had at USC. She cares a lot about her students and is respected by all. She knows the material and hopes that her students will develop a passion for the content, as well. The project was the best part, as students have nearly full reign on their presentations. Take her class!
Took the class online and is only graded by 3 papers and occasional quizzes that are really easy
Our assignments were three 10 page essays and labs. She is so sweet and lectures are interesting, but ok to skip and watch recordings when paper dates come up. I'm pretty sure that essays were graded on completion! Highly recommend.
She is a super sweet professor and accommodating due to the pandemic. She is always upbeat and full of energy, even at 8 AM. Only 3 papers (8-10 pages in length), 5 short open-note assessments, and lab went towards our grade with lectures recorded. Grading criteria was somewhat unclear at times and due dates shifted from the syllabus.
I took this class async and it turned out to be my least stressful until those papers (8-10 pages) popped up. They're not hard but it's easy to procrastinate so stay on top of them. Overall, take her because she'll be a stress reliever and you learn a lot!
Professor George is honestly an angel. Took her class last spring and she cares so much about her students. Her lectures are really interesting and her papers were, in my opinion, super fun to write! Definitely take her classes, they are 100% worth it!!!
Professor George is very kind and lectures are interesting. Technically, you dont need to read out of the book, since the lectures cover everything, and the quizzes are short and open note. Very chill class, except the 3 papers (6-8 pg, based on peer-reviewed journals) were a little stressful in my opinion. The papers replace midterm/final exams.
Professor George is a very nice woman who truly cares about her student's mental health. If you ask for an extension she'll always give it to you, she gives extra credit, and to be real the 6-8 page essays are not hard. I finish them in less than 4 hours. She does make some weird comments at times, but if you just ignore that you'll be fine.
She's a nice lady, but the lectures are so boring and her jokes can be cringe-worthy. No mandatory attendance - you don't even have to show up to pass with an A, as all the info is in the book and the coursework is weekly discussion questions and two essays. This class didn't spark my interest in anything, but wasn't horrible either.
LOVE prof George! She's so so caring and her lectures are interesting. I wouldn't want to take this class with any other professor, to be honest. A very easy A, discussions are a bit more work but the TAs are accommodating. Papers aren't too hard at all, as long as you're writing about something that interests you.
Learned a lot & easy A. 30 mins of hw (answer questions) a week, plus a midterm & final with fun prompts. Prof G is caring, kind, understanding, wildly intelligent. Wants students 2 succeed. Always available outside of class (she makes a point that you can talk to her about anything, not just the material). Definitely recommend her as a professor
Prof George is a great lecturer and makes class interesting. The class is very manageable & if you attend lecture & complete your classwork, you will do well. I read the textbook to keep up with the lectures because I really enjoyed it, but I don't think it is necessary to maintain a good grade if you pay attention. She is a lovely professor.
A very reasonable course load with a nice professor. Three essay's for the whole class but they are graded by the ta's. Take it
Really supportive and caring professor. Honestly, you don't need to show up to all of her lectures since all of her discussion questions are just based on the book and she always has power point slides available. Discussion questions each week with 2 papers (one mini paper and the final paper).
Interesting intro course; lecture content can be dense but grade is mainly determined by 3 papers that can be written with research of the literature or even the textbook. Labs are busy work but easy points.
Cares a lot about students (cried with us), and also very accommodating and thoughtful. Lectures are very enjoyable, labs can be busy work, but focus on the 3 papers.
This class was SO chill. No quizzes or exams. There were only a few extremely straight-forward homework assignments. What's the catch? 3 research papers. They're a pain, but it's a small price to pay considering the laid-back structure of the course and they're basically graded on completion. Prof. George is so nice too.
Easy class make sure to be on time with your research papers. Only 3 research papers a semester and the TA's grade them. Participation and attendance do matter in psyc lab.
Honestly, I love Prof George. Super sweet and kind. Very accessible. The class is also really cool and interesting. 3 papers, five/six quizzes (super easy), and some psych studies. That's it. Super easy A.
Professor George is honestly the kindest professor I've ever met. She's extremely patient and understanding and wants everyone in this class to succeed.
3 big papers, 5 small assessments for the whole semester. Literally put in efforts and you'll get an easy A.
All-time favorite professor. Prof George should have a 6/5 rating because she is the most caring, knowledgable, and funny professor here. She makes lectures super fun and really cares about you if you put in effort to learn. No finals, just 3 papers which are VERY easy as long as u pay attention. I love her humor too! Professor George is amazing :)
Graded by 5 easy open-book assessments + 3 papers which honestly aren't bad to do. You get a lot of time to do each of them + the topic is your choice, and they're not graded harshly. Really sweet and engaging professor, who genuinely cares about students. Makes it clear that she doesn't want her students to stress so there are no exams!
Appears bubbly but is condescending one on one. Also super strict on deadlines...if you don't submit a paper on time then good luck. Once a student walked out of class and she paused to tell she's annoyed. Maybe they went to use the bathroom??? An emergency?? That being said its hard to not get an A in this class (if you don't miss deadlines)
Professor George is very caring and understanding but strict with deadlines (dates can change). Do the weekly questions, essays for both midterm, final and you will pass the class. Highly recommend!!
Very easy class, the grading criteria is clear and it's not hard to get an A. Extensions are rarely given out so make sure you meet the deadlines especially for the papers or you will not pass the class. Her lectures are really interesting and engaging which is rare for an 8am class. That being said, she can be condescending and rude at times.
Easy A, I hardly went to class and just went to labs even though I missed one, easy GE and Psych major requirement. The work she assigns is straightforward - three papers, and five assignments that take less than 10 mins each.
The class is easy if you just do the work. My issue with her is that she is rude and condescending. Otherwise I would have enjoyed this class.
This class was only graded on two things - weekly discussion questions and a 30 min presentation at the end of the semester. An easy A class! Professor George lectures about interesting things and brings her personal life examples into it. She is a cool professor that only cares to give her students an A.
I loved PSYC100 with Prof. George! There are NO TESTS - you only have to write three 8-page papers throughout the semester along with various textbook assignments and lab participation. Her lectures are very chill and she always makes the topics very interesting/entertaining. Definitely recommend this class.
Professor George's class is very easy, there are no exams. Grades are based on participation, discussion questions, and a presentation. You absolutely cannot miss class because your grade is based on participation, which can be frustrating especially when you are sick. She is not understanding about this.
Compared to the other PSYC100 professor, Dr. George's class is way easier. She has no tests and in order to get an A all you have to do is show up to lecture and lab and do well on the papers. Take Dr George's PSYC100 if you want an extremely easy A.
Professor George is a great professor and posts the assignments (even the prompts) and due dates the first day of class on the syllabus. Strict with due dates but if you submit on time and put in the work, then it is a very easy A. She is super caring and funny, and I always enjoyed going to lecture.
Professor George is super nice! Took this class the first semester back on campus post-covid so attendance was super shaky but she seemed to be very understanding. Entire grade was based on only about 2-3 papers. Communicate your needs to her on time and she will be very accommodating. Topic is interesting and she really encourages engagement.
Attendance taken randomly, weekly homework through the online textbook. 4 take home assessments and 3 long research papers, but due dates and topics published at beginning of semester. Lectures are long and material isn't always exciting, but George is knowledgeable and willing to help if you don't understand.
Great lecturer! This class is really interesting, and you lowkey don't have to pay attention if you have other things to do. Make sure to attend, though, because she takes attendance randomly. The class has NO tests, so your grade is mainly dependent on papers that are graded by your TA. I highly recommend this course :)
Weekly textbook reading, three papers, and lab that is super easy. Prof George is an interesting lecturer but the mandatory attendance at 8 AM is BRUTAL. Class is really easy and she basically tells you you'll get an A. Better than I've heard about the other prof and its an interesting class for sure.
I didn't want to get up at 8 am for a class, but I would come to every class just because she makes it very interesting. And this is coming from someone who has nothing to do with psych or biology in their major. She loves what she does, which is why her lectures are interesting. You have to try hard not to have an A in this class.
Lectures are interesting and Prof. George encourages questions and discussion which is a nice subtle difference from most 2hr Psych lectures. The major writing assignments (2 papers) are not difficult and Prof. George shows she cares about students' mental health and quality of education because these assignments replace exams also prompts are fun.
Easiest A of my life. Three 6-8 page research papers (that are graded super easy by the TA, I never got below a 95 on any of them), weekly homework assignments, and 5 take-home quizzes (you can drop one). Attendance is technically mandatory, but if you do well in everything else you could never go to class and still get an A. Perfect throwaway GE.
Easiest A in college so far, just a few short assignments and weekly labs which are both easy, and 3 6-8 page papers which are graded pretty leniently by the TA. Great way to knock out the life science GE category.
HIGHLY recommend taking this class as GE. Professor George is clearly passionate about psyc and is a great lecturer. Grading is relatively lenient, however be aware that she is very strict on deadlines! As long as you do all the work and submit on time, you will do well in the class!
A very easy class, especially if you complete the book assignments early. There are 6 HW assignments and 3 papers that are all straightforward and not too hard to complete. Lectures would usually end early and Prof. George is extremely approachable and friendly.
The class is fine but she is just rude as a person. Not quite responsive to email as well
I'm literally baffled that she doesn't have a 5. Attendance isn't mandatory but she'll chose five random days throughout the semester to check. There are 3 papers that you can basically chose your topic for and they are graded mainly off completion. She's funny, engaging and an easy A for both a GE and a major course. Best decision taking her!!!!!!
Easy and fair introductory class for psychology! Very minimal assignments like bookwork or participation in lab studies. Assessments were take home and only 3 papers with set due dates. Loved taking this class! Very considerate and caring professor
Professor George is an unbelievable, caring and understanding professor. Her lectures are extremely engaging and are interesting. I had a situation where I missed some school and Professor George hopped on a phone call with me during her time off on Thanksgiving break and not only helped me get caught up with class, but offered great advice.
Professor George is amazing. Despite being such a big class, I thoroughly enjoyed every lecture as they were incredibly engaging. The assignments, which include both bookwork and three papers throughout the semester, are very fair, with additional assignments evenly distributed across the course duration. I would recommend.
3 papers and other small assignments. you kind of have to come to class. not really a great communicator in terms or grading or if you need help.
Wasn't ever very helpful during class and outside of class. she just lectures and hopes you get it. for an intro class I wish she would have been more accessible.
Only graded on participation and projects. Interesting class but unfortunately the only person who teaches this class. There's absolutely no missing class regardless of anything. I missed a couple of classes due to personal reasons and she basically told me to find someone else to ask.
I didn't enjoy the structure of this class. She was trying to be your friend more than teach which is always great but the con is that when it comes time to turn in work theres little to no explanation and the grade you get is what you get. Not the worst prof but weird and gave little guidance when it came to explaining things we had to turn in.
This class was actually really interesting, she usually lets you out early. There are a few times where she will take attendance but it's very random and not everyday. The online textbook will have work to do but if you read the material the work is easy. There are no midterms, instead there are papers, and a few weekly quizzes.Overall great class
Unclear about the grades. Tries to be friendly in class, but when you email her her and ask questions, she sounds very annoyed.
Lectures are entertaining and engaging - she is approachable about questions. A few assignments, including a take-home midterm, biweekly assignments (easy), and 2 papers (8 pages but literally could write about whatever, graded easy). Grading is based off of your TA, and I had an excellent TA. Lab attendance is mandatory, & attend most lectures.
Great professor and was nice when interacting with her. Class was easy; attendance was taken at random out of the whole semester; she probably took it like eight times. Easy A fr
Literally only take her class for Psyc 100 anything after that is terribly taught. She is not responsive and expects you to know how to do assignments without any explanation.
My experience has to do with the class structure because I had a really hard time getting to this 8am class and fairly lost most of my participation grade. It's an odd structure because I could keep up with assignments even without most lecture material by targeting materials for essays. I did not learn much but still did pretty well in the class.
great class and easy A! Grade is based on 3 papers and a couple take-home assessments but as long as you do them you will be fine. Plus if you get a chill TA you'll be super fine
Easy GE because everything is take home. She is really nice and understanding. Even the assessments are take home and there are three papers. As long as you do what is needed it is an easy GE and I would highly recommend taking it. There is no final nor are there any in person exams.
she's ok like literally definition of mid and is always dtm. not bad but just not great
Probably one of the easiest classes I've taken. Content was very interesting and I didn't feel any pressure to take insanely detailed notes because I did not have to study for any in-person exams. Had a few good convos with her and she was def willing to answer my questions. When the two essays came around I was swamped, but was chilling otherwise.
Good professor, there are no exams or final, just three papers which are doable. It was harder to get a spot in this class than the actual class.
This course is extremely simple if you do everything you are supposed to. Attendance matters so go to class. Papers are graded fairly easily by the TAs. Lab is straightforward. Professor is nice but can be somewhat passive on email.
I recommend taking this course if you aren't the greatest at multiple-choice. This course consists of three research papers, and textbook quizzes. Don't worry you can take the quizzes as many times as needed until you get 100%. Be sure to buy the textbook since you need it to take the quizzes and show up to class. She randomly takes attendance.
Really enjoyed the class. Not too much homework and very engaging professor who cares about the topic. 2 essays and no exams. TA grader was a little hard and wouldn't budge. Otherwise interesting class with fun extra credit.
I also took Patricia for PSYC 468 and I cannot recommend all her classes enough! If you have the chance to take any of her classes, DO IT. Patricia genuinely cares for her students, especially if you take the time to connect with her and participate in the class discussions. Wants everyone to succeed/get good grades, very easy and enjoyable classes
She just wasn't that great. She never explained assignments well and then graded hard. Be prepared to complete assignments and projects with little explanation.
She never helped when I asked. She told me to go to office hours and when I did she was not even there. She lacks good communication.
Very easy. Takes attendance 10 times per semester and it only counts for 6% of the final grade. There are no midterms/exams, only 3 papers which are graded easy (just remember to follow the formatting rules to a t).
Really solid class & not hard at all. If you're looking for a chill GE, this is it. Typical big lecture class with the basics of psychology. Attendance is randomly taken, easy weekly readings, chill labs, 5 take-home assessments & 3 straightforward 8-page papers on any topic. Everything is graded by the TAs. Prof. George is cool & class is a breeze
Solid GE-D. Just do the Assignments and go to Labs. Follow the rubric for papers and your set. Grade depends on the TA. Attendance are taken randomly like 10 times. Overall, enjoyed the class.
Super chill class, just make sure to go to labs and get the papers done on time. Participation is calculated through a sign in code so just make a friend or two to share the code with you. Follow paper and assignment directions and you will be set.
She is a great prof for intro to psyc but after that I wouldn't recommend any class after. I ran into some problems during the semester and she was the farthest from being helpful. I scheduled office hours with her for a specific time and date and she never showed up. But she expects heavy participation in all her classes.
Her class was pretty unstructured which I didn't like. She takes attendance and participation matters. There was no homework just other assignments and a final presentation. During class she was "ok" but outside of class it was almost impossible to get in contact with her.
It was a fine intro class pretty easy and mainly papers. But I interacted more with her TA than her which was odd considering it was one of my first classes here.
This professor is AWESOME. I don't get how she has a rating below a 4.5. She is super caring, loving, and fun. Bad reviews come from students who aren't willing to participate in class. I promise you, you won't regret taking her class because she is absolutely awesome.
She is a super nice professor. There are no midterms or finals, just weekly readings (really easy), three 8-10 page papers, and four super easy take-home open-note online assignments. Attendance is taken randomly throughout the entire semester, like four times (only 6% of the grade). She is strict on deadlines so just don't be late with anything!
I loved her and her lectures! Super clear guidelines and syllabus, and I never thought it was disorganized. You are graded on 5 Assessments that are all online and open note, 3 8-10 page papers (if you start early it's not that bad). I personally really enjoyed the class and didn't have an issue with communication or grading, or lectures itself.
Prof G made PSYC 100 both fun and easy. Her lectures are very informative but not too dense. If you do the textbook readings (which are doable) and make it to the lecture, you should be absolutely fine for this class. She also gives her number out to students who need to reach her for urgent issues. One of the best profs at USC hands down
Digital textbook and attendance are required, but it doesn't makeup too much of the grade. The majority of your grade is determined by labs (which are easy) and 3 10-page research papers. Papers were challenging if you have not written formal research papers before but TA's are accessible and are super willing to help.
She is good but needs to decide whether to take attendance in every class or not at all. I have attended all but 2 classes and have a 50% in attendance.
Idk how you complain having her as a prof. Good luck with other professors if you think Prof G's class is tough. Her class is very positive and organized, one of the best if not the best psyc prof at USC.
I don't know why she's not above 4 stars. SHE IS THE BEST. It was the easiest class I've ever taken in college. There were no tests, midterms, or finals. The grade was based on 3 papers (8 pages, but really not bad) and occasional online open-note assignments. She is super interesting and an amazing professor (and funny!).
Why would you take any other professor for psych100? Unbeatable.
Dr. George is the kindest and most supportive teacher I've had at USC! I actually took her PSYC 468 Happiness class, and it was such a fulfilling course that had a direct impact on my own happiness. There is one weekly assignment, one group project, and one final research paper. I couldn't recommend Dr. George and this class more!
It is outrageous that she does not have a higher rating than this- she is such a great teacher and she makes the class very engaging! Her lectures are very interesting and easy to understand, her content is easy to access and she makes it very clear how to reach her and is ready to help! she makes this class fun and it is the best Psych 100 class!
Professor George is absolutely amazing! I took this class as a GE and found it totally manageable and way less stress than all my other classes. She's really good about answering her emails and telling us weekly what we have due and what's coming up. No tests/quizzes, or daily homework. I recommend everyone take her class!!
Her classes were great and she's very nice. The grade is based on small assessments, lab, and three papers. All paper topics are in the syllabus which allows you to do them as early as you want. She's also very accessible out of class and even gave me her number when I had a question to ask which professors don't do anymore. Overall, I recommend!
Such a sweet professor. She is super kind, understanding and smart.
Although the class was very unstructured and lacked clear guidelines, the class itself was enjoyable. She is very likable but I felt that I got more out of the class from the other students. I do wish that attendance was either always accounted for, or not at all. Needs clearer rubrics on assignments and more excitable content/lectures.
Definitely recommend taking her class for Psych 100, cares about her students and wants them to succeed, Very kind and smart, Grade is off of small assessments, 3 papers and their topics are listed in the syllabus which can narrow down what you want to write about and do them quick, and also lab. Very accessible outside of class.
The workload for this class is very minimal and with the research papers being on the syllabus the first day, you control the pace of your workload. I was able to get ahead and without the stress of exams, I found I learned a lot in lectures even as an engineering major. The constant changing of the take-home assessment dates was the only downside!
Very good professor for PSYC100. Doesn't have any tests and she drops the lowest of 5 assessment scores. The TA can make or break your course so make sure to write good papers. Also be sure to keep track of your deadlines because there is little to no leniency on deadlines in this course. Even a minute late on a paper results in a max of 50%.
Prof. George is a queen! If anyone thinks this class is unmanageable or too work heavy, they might just struggle with procrastination… 3 (6-8 page) papers, 5 take home assessments, and light TB readings. Overall best GE I've taken.
Professor George is such a great teacher and she made the lectures enjoyable and funny! Super kind and willing to answer questions as well. There were 3 papers that were 6-8 pages long, open-note assessments, and easy textbook questions to answer. Easy A and you learn a lot.
Professor George is by far one of the best professors at USC. Although her class may not be as rigorous, she never sacrifices the learning aspect! She truly cares for her students and it shows everyday through her kindness. There are just 3 papers 6-8 pg, "assessments" which aren't test, & weekly chapter readings- but you can get it done in a day!
Prof. George is a very kind and well-respected professor. I took this class for a major course and GE, and I DO NOT regret it. If you want to take PSYC100, TAKE HER. There are no in-class midterms or finals, three straightforward research papers, take-home assessments, and simple book assignments. I would definitely take her class again!
Pretty chill GE class with an engaging professor. Mainly focus on the weekly readings, papers, and lab assignments. Attendance is taken randomly but not a huge part of the grade. Use unstuck ai for helpful study prep alongside the textbook.
random participation so it sucks for a 8AM class. Lectures are alright but it doesn't matter as there are no tests. three papers and some weekly reading questions and that's it. chill GE
Patricia George not only cares about her students, but goes above and beyond to encourage them to get involved with the discipline outside of class. She is a resource, a mentor, and a source of bountiful knowledge. I have had her for PSYC100 and PSYC464. She is understanding, yet pushes you to do your best with encouragement and clear guidelines.
Prof. George is one of the best professors ever! Her class is applicable to real life & the class is easy & straightforward. Weekly discussion questions (no right answer), participation mandatory, a 30-minute presentation, & a final paper! An overall easy psych class where I learned so much & got close with my class. DO URSELF A FAVOR & TAKE HER!!!
Patricia George is the best!! She cares about her students so much and keeps class so engaging and fun, but I still learned so much! It is a very low pressure class and an easy A, but super interesting and by far one of my favorites at my time at USC. If you can take a class with her, DO IT, she is incredible!
I genuinely can not recommend professor George enough. I was semi-interested in psychology going into the course and she only made me more interested in it. Even if you have no interest in psychology, you should 1000% definitely take the class because there are 0 tests (which not many other psych 100 professors offer). SUPER easy A. Lab is fun too.
Professor George is honestly one of the best professors I've had, even for someone like me who doesn't usually get that into psych classes. She's warm and genuinely cares about her students. I love that she brings her full self to class, sharing personal experiences and creating a space where people feel comfortable opening up.
My first ever psych class & Professor George made it engaging & straightforward. I appreciated the structure: grade is based on 4 assessments (take home), textbook assignments, attendance (randomly taken), 3 papers, lab, and SONA studies. Expectations are clear, & she posts all slides before the sem starts. Starting next sem there will be tests tho
Professor George was very passionate about what she lectured on! Her assignments were very straightforward and where super interesting! Make sure to keep up with textbook readings! Graded on three papers which where interesting to write! However, she can be passive aggressive at times.
Super caring and super nice! She is such an inspirational and passionate professor and makes psychology super interesting! This class honestly taught me more about myself as a person and gave me a more open-minded perspective on the world. Loved my lab TA, and the labs were super fun! Not only that, but she cares about her students.
Mind numbingly boring assignments. Essays were graded easily but tons of garbage work. She also assigns online assignments but never mentions it during class or on Brightspace. You're forced to spend $50 to access those homeworks, which is interesting because shes on the board of directors for the company that runs website. Conflict of interest imo
She scheduled meetings with me and then never showed up. Explains what type of prof she is…
Super caring and funny!! The class was graded mainly on 3 papers but she did say that starting next semester she would start doing exams. Overall a solid choice for PSYC100
This class was amazing! It was super easy and paper based. The lectures were super interesting and as long as you do the research and write your essays on time, you'll be good.
The GOAT. She's actually the best professor at USC.
Irresponsible professor. Lied to the student and messed up my grade
i hate this professor
Professor George is such an incredible professor. She made the 8 am super fun to go to, and she's just such a genuine person. There are no finals or midterms, and the labs and assessments are fairly easy and fun. Overall, just a very interesting a well-set-up course. Best class ever.
Very kind and led engaging lectures. Her structure consisted of 5 assessments (open book), 3 papers (pick your own topic), reading out of the textbook, and participating in about 5 studies. Her lecture was interesting and is a really sweet person. She makes jokes and things are never that serious. Attendance is taken at random. Take this class!!!
She kept saying attendance was mandatory but there was no way of making sure you were marked in. She said she was marking us all in but I'm not even sure she knows my name? There was a lack of structure for the entire course. I felt like every lecture was random. Also nooo guidelines or instructions on how to perform well.
After experiencing Patricia's atrocious pedagogical approach, I can say for certain that she does not deserve to teach. She does not care about the success of her students, lacks a foundational structure for this class, and gives no support or access to her or complimentary materials to improve. If you value your education, do NOT take her courses.
She's an amazing professor. Always willing to help you succeed and she's available outside of class (although a bit busy). So kind and so supportive. Def gonna take her clas again in the future
This was such an easy class! It consisted of 3 papers, a lab section, and JEP or participating in research. No tests! There is also an online textbook in which you need to answer questions, but it's extremely easy. Attendance does count towards your grade; however, it is not by a significant amount. I missed half the lectures and still passed.
Such an easy class. JEP + open notes assessments + 3 papers + the easiest lab section imaginable. I don't think anyone needs to talk to her outside of class because everyone receives an A. Participation is mandatory, but it is only ~6% of your grade, so you could miss every class and still receive an A. Absolutely the best option for PSYC 100.
super chill prof literally like no work for this class papers are writable in one day as long as you lock in, she's a little cringe in a millenial way but we can't have it all i guess
She is such a kind professor and her lectures are engaging and increcible.
Really good professor and an interesting course!
