The class was a lot of fun. The test were only round 25 questions. We had to write 2 big papers and you better make sure you get the margins right or she will mark off points for it. I liked her alot would for sure take class with her again in the future.
Best Teacher Ever!! I loved her class, she was very easy going and made the class fun, the tests were easy as long as your read, had to write 2 big papers one was on a movie it was like 14 pgs long dont over analyz the characters, 1" margins on the papers. I highly recomend that if you have to take psych 205 take it with her. Shes the best.
I absolutly loved her, her classes were amazing and she keeps you up on your toes , take her class only !!!
She's kind of mean, but funny at the same time. The tests are a lot of random facts. She's always late to class though which is annoying and rude. And she's very serious about APA style for papers. As long as you do that right it doesn't actually matter what you write.
Ms. Katralis knows what she is talking about because she is also a therapist. All you do is take notes in class. There are four exams and a final, which is not accumulative. Also, you have to write four papers, one that is a group 12 page long. She absolutely hated my class, however. She knows she's a ****, but she just doesn't care.
The class can be hard if you do not read. The tests are pretty hard when she doesnt feel like handing out a study guide. She is ALWAYS late! Other then that she is a nice person and a good teacher that knows what she is talking about.

I don't see why people get upset about her being late, I for one didn't minded it.In matter of fact I liked it cause I could sleep in a little longer,or get some work done and come in late.(not like she'd notice. Good teacher. The class was fun. She gets in bad moods some times, but nothing bad. She just hates cell phones in her class. Otherwise, the class is good. Tests aren't too hard and she's an easy grader on the papers.
So, before presenting those idiotic real worlds, HOW MANY people went to the computer lab to print theirs out? Yeah... You're one HELL of a *****, and I KNOW IT now. But really, you didn't have to humiliate me. Also know you honestly couldn't care less, but just wanted to put it out there. Wretched woman.
She is a pretty tough teacher, but what do you expect we r not in high school anymore. She is good at giving examples and explaing but tests r kinda hard & reading the chapters is very important. There is a 12 page paper tho which kinda sucked because ppl in my group so make sure you pick a good group and you'll do fine
Likeable as a person. Always late-usually 10 min. Tests are pretty tough - even if you read chapters- I got an A had to work at it. She gives lots of extra credit!! She really wants everyone to do well!!
Really great professor, but she is a "no BS" type of person. The class helped me a lot with my studies.
Panagiota Katralis is a strict professor. Her tests are hard and when you take notes its hard to remember everything she says. Make sure you read the textbook before you go over a chapter in class because there is a lot of material to talk about. And beware - she hates cellphones, make sure you leave it on silent.
She is pretty cool, but she is better explained better as a drill sergeant than anything. If she was under obligation to p.t. us she would. She likes our class alot, but there is always that same group of people she has to keep harping on for talking. Thank God she doesn't punish the rest o the class for their stupidity. And NO CELL PHONES!!
She is a no nonsense teacher. She makes accommodations for students but then usually forgets what she said. She is almost always late and her tests are very hard. The questions on the test are not always clear and when you get the test back you do not get to see what questions you missed The book we used was great but sometimes she contradicts it
I really enjoyed this class a lot!! She is a tough teacher but gives plenty of opportunities to ask questions. When she see's that someone is not doing well she offers opportunities to help themselves. I learned a lot in this class and am seriously thinking of changing my major because of Ms. Katralis. Thanks to her for everything!
She is a no BS teacher, she does give you make up time. The book is hard to understand, but her powerpoint slides makes it easier to understand. Please if you find she goes to fast when going over the powerpoint slides, let her know to slow down. Our class did not bring that up to her til she asked why the class was doing so poorly.
She is a great teacher. The tests are easy as long as you take notes and she will easily answer any questions you have. She's a no nonsense teacher but she has a great sense of humor. I would take her class again in a heartbeat.

She is late attending classes but she is good at what she does. She wants everyone to succeed and if you have any questions, she's always encouraging you to ask. There is no laziness involved so if you are lazy, don't take her class. If you don't and you fail, that's your fault not hers. She is a good teacher. I recommend her.
Knowledgeable professor. Willing to help and clarify, you just have to ask. Difficult to get in touch with. Only checks her email twice a week. Essays are easy. She pretty much outlines it for you. Her tests are VERY hard. She covers 3-4 chapters within a single test (about 40 questions long) without an study guide. Offers lots of extra credit
She is an amazing teacher. She uses real life experiences. She makes the class interesting and easy to understand. Just make sure you do the work, which is not that hard, and to study for the test by reading the book, and you will be good!(:
I love the class, and she makes me love psychology even more and I'm glad i took her class and that I am majoring in psychology.
I love her. I took her for psych 101 and again for psych 210. Her tests are hard, she doesnt give study guides, but she covers all material in class and she is extremely kind as long as you do the work youre supposed to. This is college, not high school, suck it up.
I do not recommend this teacher. Four of the first ten classes we had she cancelled. She was very unorganized and never uploaded the powerpoints. She does not give study aids for tests because she "doesn't know what to put on them." I would not recommend her, she is usually late to class anyway. I dropped the class after a month and a half.
She makes you work for your grade which is awesome and she is very hilarious and she wants everyone to be successful.
I would not take her again, she was difficult. She does not cover all of the material that will be on the tests. Her tests are extremely difficult, however, she gives an incredible amount of extra credit. Attendance is taken, and do not take if you will not put effort.
She has a good side and a bad side but her good side is great! Yes her lectures are long but they are fun and super interesting. She made me feel like I mattered in her classroom and I defenitely took a lot away from the class. I completely recommend.

She will go over the material as many times as you need her to until you understand. Her tests are hard, but if you actually study and read the book and study you will be fine. Not a blow off class!!
As long as you do what she expects from you, you can pass this class easily. She's very funny, easy to talk to, and class discussions were always very fun. I really miss my class with her, it was one of the highlights of my week.

I have never loved a teacher more. She is very very intimidating at first. I wanted to drop, but she is so down to earth and so funny. She will use a million different examples until every single students understands. She truly has a passion for her job and it shows. Love her, love her lectures. She likes to tease, but lets you tease back.
At first I thought I was going to hate her and her class, but I didn't. Her class is based off points, so even if you don't do good on her hard exams, you can still pass by doing the papers/interview project she has you do. Her lectures are interesting and has good stories. Just makes sure you have APA citation down, otherwise expect to lose points
I think she is the best teacher ever! If you need to score high be ready to study, she will make you speak and participate, she is funny and helpful - but don't get it twisted - she will scan your soul if you trying to fool her .She keeps her lectures interesting and fun - i would like to take her class again.
Miss understood Professor from the start. In the beginning she seems tough and unkind, but really she does care and shows a lot of compassion throughout the semester. I took her over the sumer and there was only 9 of us, so she used that as an excuse of y she was so nice. She even said she will mis us! I doubt she gets as cold as she says over fall
She has some fringe beliefs which can be distracting. Lectures went off topic frequently. Sometimes what she said in class and what the book said were contrary (off the top of my head- she said motherease was bad, but the book clearly says it's fine). I like her as a person, but the class was frustrating.
If you want to do well in her class, I would recommend studying from the book rather than powerpoints. Questions on the test can be very tricky and she asks questions that weren't discussed in class. As long as you study from the book you'll be fine. Tests are 40 m.c. and 1 essay. She's also a tough paper grader. Make sure you read and participate.
She is the best teacher that I have had in the school so far. She is understanding, funny, and relatable. During the lectures, she gives many examples and makes sure everybody understands the material. Be ready to read the textbooks because not everything is covered. This is college not high school do your work. Easy grader.
Katralis is a great Psych teacher! Very fair in how she grades, does well with the lectures and gives good examples. You will need to at least skim read the book AND go to class to do well on tests, she doesn't just hand you an A. Would take her for other courses!
I took one look at Katralis' syllabus and immediately dropped her class. Mandatory use of the MindTap, weekly assignment that are automated (there is no option to work ahead), weekly discussions with mandatory responses. She is not available outside of school hours (after 3pm, holidays, weekends) and her grading turn around is 2 weeks. NO THANKS!!!
Her grading techniques make no sense and if you do the discussion posts correctly you won't get full credit. She also takes forever to grade anything. The tests are fairly simple, but the other stuff is a bunch of crap. I thought this class would've been smoother, but its been a hassle all semester.
Second class Ive taken with her and shes been amazing both times. She truly cares about her students, and its been rare for me to find another professor that cares as much as she does. There are a good amount of assignments, but follow the directions and youll get the grade youve earned.
I took her class online. I was drowning in coursework half of the time and stressed out because she is such a tough grader. She says she has a two week turn around to grade assignments but I still have assignments I did well over a month ago that she has yet to grade. I do not recommend her if you have a life that doesnt revolve around this class.
Katralis is a great person, great teacher. She acts a little tough but truly very caring and never unfair. I have a lot of respect for her. Class discussions are always interesting and anyone can put their two cents in. Her tests are tough though. You have to really read the textbook, and she will ask obscure questions that weren't in her lectures
She does not bother answering icampus mail, when she says it is the best way to get in touch with her.
I took her this summer and she does not bother answering e-mails for her online students, there is no way to communicate with her. I do not suggest, very unprofessional
Shes the most amazing professor Ive ever had. She really cares about her students and them succeeding. Their is a lot of homework & hard test , but if you put in the work its an easy A or B
Shes a great teacher and really nice! Her test are hard but if you fail them or didnt do so good on them its okay because the things that she makes us do like real worlds, the reflection papers, and the 2 other big papers it will make up for it.
Best teacher at JJC. Lots of writing but none of it is too hard. You will learn a lot in her class. Tests are hard - read the book. Class discussions are interesting and she treats her students with respect and kindness. She takes no bs and can be intimidating, especially if you get on her bad side - but she has a heart of gold.
Amazing teacher! Was super intimidated at first but she's actually one of the most funny and caring teachers I've had. She's a tougher grader but it's only to make you better. The hmwk assignments outweigh test scores which is defintely nice for poor test takers. Keep up with all the homework and you'll do just fine. I loved her!
Gives motivational goals to help get grades up or to study. She baked the class a cheesecake for getting a combined average of 80 on one of our tests. (Shes amazing!) She keeps it real and shes not gentle. If you need help, shell help you, just dont disrespect her.
One of the worst professors ever, liked the class at first but had a feeling something was wrong. When I opened up about my own traumatic experience, she belittled me and kept telling me I was fine thats not how that works and it was disappointing to see a professional not take it seriously. Ended up dropping the class.
Her class has a lot of busy work but no big deal as long as you complete it on time. Her tests seemed to have always had a few questions that there was not a correct answer for. It was multiple-choice tests that were open book from home so that was good but again always a few questions that seemed there was no correct answer listed.
She is very careless about other people even through the pandemic. Does not answer messages on icampus or emails. She has a high ranking at the school which is quiet surprising considering she doesnt care about students academic success.
I registered for this class as an elective (for fun) then immediately dropped after reading through the syllabus and the first announcement she posted to the class. She basically threatened her students not to work ahead on the assignments or would they receive a zero saying "this is a warning!". Not a good first impression. Busy work galore!!
So the Professor did not use to reply to emails or even if she did it would be too late. The course was pretty interesting and there were a lot of assignments, but the Professor was pretty strict about due dates.
I would not recommend this professor. Her class was somewhat easy but she isn't a very nice person and not a good teacher. She will not grade assignments until months after you turn them in; inconsiderate and inconvenient to students. Her class is one of the most unorganized and outdated I've ever seen. I can't say I learned much of anything.
I don't usually write reviews like this. Some teachers are good, some are bad. But Professor Katralis was so terrible that I feel compelled to warn other students. She literally NEVER replies to questions or email. She is a harsh grader, and leaves NO feedback. And she takes forever to grade things. Please, for your own sake, take someone else!!!!

This teacher be on a power trip or something. She wouldn't reply to my email so I had to get up and go into the office to see her. She was there, but her rude secretary told me I couldn't see her without an appointment. How do I make an appointment if she don't return email? I will drop out of school before I take her class again.
I've never had to work so hard to get a C. I asked why I was getting the grades she was giving me. She never replied to my messages! She never left feedback! She was like a ghost. Never saw her or heard from her. Please, for your own sake, take someone else.
Absolutely awful for so many reasons. Please, do yourself a favor and go with a different professor. Never in my life have I dealt with such a rude, nonresponsive teacher.

stay away from this professor! she was hard to get a hold of and honestly did not care if you took an online course. I should've listened to the reviews. She doesn't give clear instructions and gives feedback but its not good enough. I hope this saved your time.
This was the worst experience I've ever had in a class. Ever. Where to start? First of all, Professor Katralis doesn't reply to emails. She just doesn't. Be prepared for that. She takes FOREVER to grade things. Months. Which means you'll have NO IDEA how you're doing in class. She cancels class a LOT, sometimes right before class starts. Avoid her.

had this professor for different 2 classes.does not give feedback, grades are biased and all over the place, and when asking for additional feedback/help she will not help you. This professor goes off syllabus often and does not follow rubrics given for assignments. Not to mention she reuses assignments for multiple classes. Waste of money and time
This professor was AWFUL! She graded extremely hard and provided very little feedback. When you reach out for help she doesn't offer any if she even responds. Avoid her at all costs.
She graded me poorly based on her own grading scale. When I asked her what I did wrong (followed guidelines specifically) she did not respond to me over email until a month later. I forgot to mention something in my discussion board post even though I posted my response 3 days early and she told me I could not fix it once I submitted it.

This teacher has a vendetta and plays favorites towards men. Doesn't grade fairly either. Don't go up and talk to her outside of class. She has her sunglasses on for a reason. You have to hear weekly about her martinis that's why assignments won't get graded on the weekend. If you're a student that tries hard and wants to do good don't take w her.
After reading the comments below, I couldn't agree more. This professor is a hard grader and doesn't even follow her own grading rubric. Her unfair grading and rudeness has caused me to consider different community colleges for the classes she teaches. Thankfully I managed and prayed and got through her classes….
This professor is the worst, she's mean and takes forever grading, and when you email her asking about the grade you received, shes rude and blames the student. You will go insane if you take this class, run literally as fast as you can. Pick a different professor, all of the other psych profs at JJC are amazing, except her. Don't take this class.
I love professor K. If you actually participate and ask questions she's more than willing to help you. Her work load is extremely heavy though but as long as you take your notes and pay attention during lecture. She does take forever on grading but if you keep up with your work you have nothing to worry about
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Blames the student for everything and does not take the blame for anything. She takes forever to grade assignments as well. PLEASE do not take her course as she will constantly tell you that you have plagiarized or used Ai for assignments when you have not. I have gone completely insane taking her course.
A summer course, the expectations were insanely high, one to visit the city for a museum as well as the amount of homework due. For the assignments it doesn't even seem like she took time to grade but rather picked out random things wrong. Also the assignments are based on resources that are mostly 10+ yrs old. Awful grader. Awful reasonings.
It isn't fun to be in a class with her, like, at all. You can never fully please her unless your opinion is around hers. Her assignments have lots of grammatical errors, and it seems like she has rigid views, and we get dinged for it even if the question asks what you "think." (Opinion). I can tell she isn't that bad, but time got to her.
