Matchette is a very good teacher. She is very knowlegable and interesting. Her class isn't nearly as hard as others depict it. It's usually a student's own laziness not to read that causes them to fail.

I love the powerpoint slides she uses in her class during lecture. She really knows alot about art and art history.

If you have to take a humanities you may as well learn something. Mrs. Matchette will definately teach you the key is come to class!!!! I love the use of the discussion board in laptop class. Very interesting teacher she loves her subject.

i had matchette a few years back and i consider her one of the best in the business. she inspired me to really apply myself and i wrote some of my best writing in her class. i will never forget her.

You either like it or hate it. Yes, it is a lot of material and can get tedious, but excellent job on teaching and definitely know her material.Students in my class needed the course, so they weren't interested. But the slides and web info helped.No notes

I took both my Humanities courses with Matchette at Seminole. She is an awesome professor and really has a love for the subject she teaches. Her classes can have a lot of homework, but you exit the class knowing you really learned something.

The best! She is hard but fair and loves her material. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had--maybe the best.

Students who don't like this professor are generally lazy and/or immature. I highly recommend her class to anyone who actually wants to learn about art and culture.

I have taken two classes with this teacher and would take more classes with her if she offered them. She is challenging but makes the challenge worthwhile--at the end of the semester you feel like a real collge student. My highest recomendation for this teacher.

I was thinking this class was gonna be SO boring going into it. I wasn't really interested in the material involved, but of course, its required. This teacher shows a love of the subject, and it is really contagious. I look forward to attending class, and am gaining a grasp of the material. A+++

She's knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. This isn't an easy class but she challenges you to get involved with the subject. I love it because of the process of instruction. Don't take it if you're looking for an easy A.

Made art interesting to me for really the first time. A fair amount of work, but forgiving on grades and kind always. Beware-You will learn in her class.

Matchette is a brilliant lady - - she really knows her stuff and she's passionate about it! She can be a little hard to handle at times but overall is a good teacher. You WILL have to study for this class, but it's not too bad if you stay on top of it.

I enjoyed her course very much, there was a lot of note taking and you must pull off a great test. She tells you in discussion what will be on your test (in your notes.) I took her for honors and still got an A. She does emphazis on art which is very interesting, I learned a lot. She has a real passion for her subject and full of energy. Very sweet

Took the class online, and she was really prompt and organized. Gave thoughtful and interesting assignments, but they didn't encourage a lot of interaction among students. It is an honors course, but it isn't unpleasantly hard. Her assignments make you look for what to learn.

I took this class on-line this summer - I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. There was a lot of writing involved (8 journals and 11 discussions) but at the end the knowledge you acquire is unbelievable. Professor Matchette was very helpful and always responded to my e-mails promptly.

I took this class online over the summer. Before signing up for this class I went to this site to see how professor Matchetter was rated and I read nothing but bad things about her. I think her class was easy as long as you did the work. I even skipped 4 journals and you are only allowed to skip 2 and I got a B in the class.

Matchette is, without question, the best teacher I've ever had. She is knowledgeable and passionate as a teacher, and inspiring and wonderful as a person. She comes highly recommended by myself and other former students. Enjoy the class, but keep up with the assignments!

Prof. Matchette is very proud of her subject, and her lecture classes are very informative. She hands out study guides for each chapter, so it's very easy to keep up with the material. There is a journal entry for each chapter, so be prepared to write. Very fair teacher - I highly recommend her.

She is pretty easy going, understanding, and predictable. This was my second time taking this course and am passing with a B+, there are journals for all chapters only 8 are required, the quizes are right from the book, there is a midterm and a final, and two culteral response papers 300 words ea.

I have to say, when I first started to take the class, I felt like she was a hard teacher and hard to understand. Then half way through the semester I began to learn more and more and realized she was acutally very good! I think if you are willing to put in the effort to do well, she is a very good teacher. Prof Matchette is very nice. This is my second online class with her. As long as you cover all points in the prompts, you will do fine. It is alot of reading but i really enjoyed learning about so many things that shaped our world.

In response to some comments made below, I completely disagree. I had personal issues arise this semester and Professor Matchette was EXTREMELY understanding. I still managed to get an A in the class. She is a great professor if you're actually there to learn. She is very passionate about the subject and she really knows her stuff. GREAT CLASS!

If you are interested in the subject, she is the best teacher you could ask for. She really makes you think about the art instead of just copying the details of a painting and memorizing its description. If you are looking for an easy A, take another class. This one actually requires you to think. And apparently, that's too much to ask of some.

This was one of my favorite classes I've taken at SPC. It's a little challenging but totally doable if you actually go to class and are there to learn. Prof Matchette loves the subject and really makes you appreciate art. If you're not interested in art or being engaged in the subject, I'd take another professor. GREAT TEACHER

I took this class online and I enjoyed it, was pretty easy and quizzes every week kept me from slipping behind..and you only have to do so many journal assignments and if you do them early you have less workload at the end of the semester, two papers but they are reviews and she is not a harsh paper grader which was nice!! Took this class online. Very nice teacher. Fair amount of work. I expected it to be alot harder at first reading through the syllabus, but overall this class was great! Keep up with all the work it's an easy A.

this class is sooooo easy... i thought it was going to be very difficult at first, but it turned out to be much easier than i expected... you don't actually have to do the reading... just skim through it while taking the online quizzes.. she tells you everything that is going to be on her exams... there are no surprises at all. great teacher

I thought I was going to hate her as a teacher, but I was totally wrong. I really enjoy her class. I don't think she likes men. She is def. a feminist liberal. Be sure to read the book! Don't skip over any excerpts. Pay attention so you can take notes during the lectures! Study groups really help alot for midterms/finals. I would recommend her.

She was so funny, but I do understand where people get the mean and liberal stuff from, thats how I felt in the begining of the semester and then I started do my work and I love her now

This was a very easy online class. She wants you to learn, though. You have a "least" amount of papers to turn in, no more than 300 words. Open textbook on quizzes. She was very dear to my late *** butt and helpful. What more do you need. I missed one assignment for this "B" I earned. I recommend!

I loved this professor--had her for two humanities classes. The tests were long, but consisted of questions from the quizzes. There are a lot of essays (one per week for regular classes, two per week for honors class), but she is very fair in her grading. Overall, the material was very interesting, and the professor very fair and knowledgeable.

she is a very good professor and as long as you read the book you will do well. i've always had a thing for intelectual ladies so i think she's smokin hott too.

If you are serious about your education, take Professor Matchette's course. She was very helpful and eager to explore the material in detail if you asked her properly. She doesn't have time for people who can't take care of themselves. This is college, not daycare. Complainers need to take responsibility for themselves.

If you have a genuine interest in learning, then she is for you. If you like to negotiate your grades and take only easy teachers, then you might want to take someone else's class.

This professor was an amazing professor. You could tell that she was very passionate about the subject she taught, which is refreshing. All of these comments on here about too much work, etc are riduculous. Is it me, because I thought this was college, not Elementary school. Students who don't like her should be asked what grade they got--probably bad. She is a great teacher and offers the best of all worlds in her class--a teacher who actually expects the student to take some responsibility for what she/he is learning, and who will help you to reach your potential. Don't take her if you are lazy or immature.

Excellent instructor. She is teaching at the college level, so pay attention. If you are a respectful student, you will receive respect. Those who complain, probably did not complete the work. It is not hard to pass this class if you complete all the homework and study for the test. She provides you with everything you need to succeed!

The class has a heavy workload but if you keep up with the reading and assignments you can get an A. You are required 6 journal entries and 3 Essays. MidTerm and Final are tough 120 minutes 100 questions. Took online. Teacher may come across tough but she truley has a passion for subject. She is not as bad as others stated.

She is actually not rude. Maybe a bit stubborn but she is a very friendly person--easy to have a conversation with. The assignments are clear and not vague. She doesn't stand for rude students. That is probably where most of these bad reviews are coming from. She's a very cultured and intelligent person.

Our Professor is a wonderful person, let alone a very clear and passionate Professor.The students who have been kicked out were crass and had no cooth, or couldn't properly address the Professor the way she deserves to be addressed. I have heard students say incredibly rude things to her, without reason and she's been too accepting.She's so nice.

LOVE her! Best class/instructor I've had. Straight forward course. Took her twice, she put me in honors for Hum II. The bad reviews are clearly from students that don't understand college isn't a free pass, you must actually work for the degree. My bet: these people won't finish college anyway.

If you are in the market to learn about Western Humanities, you will learn, and if you try, you will understand and get an A. This professor is top notch, and don't read the bad reviews, those are all written by lazy kids who complain about everything. Highly recommended, you will start appreciating art and human nature just that much more.

FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! It was worth the 98% I just received in her course! FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! The course average for the three major papers I got 100% on was under 60% so obviously following directions is the first step and one to continue throughout! Helpful when needed! FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! Most tests are online which makes it very easy, as you have your book right in front of you. Actually expected to pay attention to the lecture? Imagine that. Grow up people. If you do not want to be treated as imbecilic children, then do not act like them. Easy A.

I had this professor for an online course and I enjoyed the class. She responded to emails in a matter of hours, always within 24 hrs. She was very clear on how she wanted things to be done. This class does require you to read the book and put in some effort but this is college not pre-K. If you put in the effort, you will do well.

I enjoyed this class,worst part the 10 min 10 question quizzes. took class during summer term bad idea, got only 4-5 days on each chapter huge load of info 30+ pages. The best journals and other assignments to help your grade if you don't do well on test. Instructor provided prompt feedback and quick response to emails.Overall she was good.:)

She is not an easy A but if you love this subject you will learn alot. She knows her subject well, I found her professional but she is a little tuff. Also no multiple choice tests all written essay tests.

The quiz questions are random to make sure you read the entire chapter. For anyone crying about the difficulty of this class, I went in with 0 knowledge of art, read 2 of 10 chapters, consistently came to class on 4 hrs of sleep, & spent 30 minutes studying for the final. I left with a B. How anyone can claim difficulty in this course is beyond me.

Prof. M. is a first-rate instructor. She is organized, cultured, skilled, and articulate. She is one of the few professors (at SPC) who will teach you to think in a critical fashion and write on the college level. Excellent!

I do not understand all of the negativity about Matchette. She expects college level writing, format and professional communication. I've taken two of her classes and recommended her to my husband. I learned a lot! She was respectful and a great teacher!

College-level reading and writing is required for this class (and, since this is a college class, I think that's to be expected). However I found the class to be tedious, with quiz/exam questions that don't align with the text and a "museum paper" that required technical knowledge that was not a part of the text and not taught by the instructor.

This was my 1st college class in several year. I took it online and I have to say it was better than I thought. Professor Matchette seemed very fair and answered my emails quickly. Tests/quizzes were multiple choice with ample time to take as well as 4 discussions,2 essays and a museum report. You do need to read the textbook in detail.

Professor Matchette really made learning about different cultures very interesting. She is knowledgeable and helpful, and her lectures were engaging. Textbook readings, class attendance and completion of the discussion forums are a must to do well in her class. I would highly enjoy taking her class again.

I really enjoyed my class with Professor Matchette. She was very helpful with any questions I asked. Her feedback in discussion posts always made the topic better because she posed great questions to expand on the topic. It is really important to post soon because your discussion has to be original.

Easy A as long as you make sure you do the discussion post ahead of time. Don't do it all in one day or you will not receive full credit. Requires you to go to a museum and write a report on it which is super easy. Other than that, there's a quiz every week and 4 discussion posts. Midterm and Final are 100 questions each.

This was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. The only homework the entire semester is four discussion posts and one quick museum report. There is an easy, short quiz every week that she allows you take twice, accepting the better grade. The questions are straight from the book, word-for-word.

I absolutely loved this class. She teaches everything that will be on tests, but be sure to take notes!

Great course and nice professor. She does act like a victim when the course has errors. She will say " it was not written by her", however, she should have looked it over. Other then that its an easy course. Two essays and every quizzes/test has two attempts. Discussions are fun to do, the Japan one was about anime. Its an easy A.

I've had this prof for 2 classes. Her grading criteria is spelled out. Follow her instructions and you will do well. She responds to emails. Either I am one of her favorite students or others are not following directions because I get almost all A's in her class. Tests are HARD and you will not do well if you do not read the text.

So far so good in this semester. Open communication, We'll see what the end of school shows. Yes, it seems as if she wants heavy involvement, but what prof doesn't? Workload is kind of heavy per week for adult learners with full time jobs, and families.

Good professor. You will pass if you actually read and do the work.

Wonderful professor, lots of knowledge to gain from her about Humanities, she is strict but it is for your own good and there is a lot of reading involved but the reading is the groundwork for everything else.

8 week online course, textbook provided in the course, read the book, watch the videos and answer the questions A easy. sometimes time consuming due to reading and writing, worked probably a few hours 2x per week and had no issues at all- weekly modules. I don't think we had a final either :)
