She is a best teacher I have had, she knows her stuff. She doesn't take attendance and she has all her notes online. She is extremely helpful, and will curve the tests nicely if needed.

She's a great teacher. She gives very clear lectures, is always willing to help, gives a lot of partial credit on tests, is willing to curve if necessary, and gives a decent amount of extra credit. Would register again without a doubt. You can turn in the homework late without penalty.

Assigns excessive and unreasonable mandatory homework assignments and doesn't allow calculators on tests (even basic 4-function ones). Otherwise, a great professor.

Assigns way TOO MUCH homework, however one of the clearest and most helpful profs I have had at FIU. Not only will you get a good grade but you will actually learn something.

Pretty clear on the easier subjects, but the subjects get way harder later in the semester. Might not be too easy if you suck at math. A lot of HW. Overall she is nice and will be very simple for those who dont mind math. Is also willing to help anyone outside of class and will give you her screenname.

One of my best teachers! She really cares about her students and makes sure they understand. She always answers your questions, whether in class, by IM, e-mail, or phone. She even encourages it! This was my first encounter with programming, and I got an 'A' in this class. Not because it was easy, but because I had a great teacher helping me.

She was very helpful when you needed help. A lot of HW but the tests mirror the hw almost exactly so if you do the hw you will be fine in the class. I got a B (because I slacked on the HW)

Make sure you show interest in the clas and she will go out of her way to help you. Do the HW, it's a lot but that's how you learn plus you get points for it. Print the class notes from her website. Do the extra credits. Exams are fair. Take advantage she is online till very late to ask questions. She will help you.

She is very helpful. She shows how to solve each problem step by step. If you have problems with math I advise you to take her class because she will make certain that you understand what is going on.

best math teacher. i never passed a math class until now. i took two classes of hers and got a's in both. she's amazing! really clarifies the work, homework counts (and you can cheat that off the back of the book which makes your life easier) uses real life perspective to make you understand that math isn't so useless. freakin awesome. i recommend!

The professor is a nice and understanding lady. Class is not mandatory. There is A LOT of hw that is handed in with each exam, but there is a solution manual online with everything. There are 3 Exams 40% , and one final 40% , 10% hw consituting for your final grade. Exams are fair, Final is pretty hard. She makes herself available for extra help.

Listen up, excellent professor, very rare nowadays to find a helpful teacher who knows their stuff. To get an A you need to attend ever single class,(you get credit for attendance)post on website alot, for research paper you better pick your own subject otherwise you'll have a really hardtime. you'll have to do one presentation in front of class!

She is one of the best proferssors I have ever had. She is there to help you out as much as you need, and let me tell you i needed alot of help. Readily accessible and eager to assist with class project or homework. Teaches with many examples re-enforcing the clas lesson.

She is AWESOME. This was my first real programming class and i learned so much. She has no problem going over things as many times as needed and is easily available through email and IM. If you have any vague interest in programming you will love her.

Great lectures that covers real life ethical issues that we face in the CIS field. Overall the first few weeks of class was engaging and exciting but after 3-4 weeks into the course, she stopped lecturing altogether and focused only on student presentations which made class boring. Wow, SO MUCH WORK for this class. The teacher is nice and is very helpful (online course but she was available) but the work on the projects is so much. Be prepared to spend hours and hours working on projects, its hard.

Helpful but the project is EXTREMELY time consuming... you can have Straight A's all year long but if you Don't get a 70+ on her final you FAIL her class. In my opinion this is unfair since the projects takes up most of your time.

I took her for CGS2060. It was a pretty easy online class overall. The only suggestion I would make for the future is to have some practice quizzes. Other then that the class was great!

Great prof, she designed this class herself. lecture isn't mandatory (highly rec. since she explains material very well) but lab time is. exams are moderately easy, but you do have to learn to program. she's helpful and always available online. i would suggest study groups to really get the most out of the class. definitely take her! A+ teacher!

She is a good prof, but you really don't learn too much directly from her since most of the course = presentations done by the participants. Also, I agree, this is not a "cake" 1-credit class, but if you do all the work (forums,8-pg paper,present) well, you can get an A. My advice: pick a topic you like as soon as possible & start the paper early.

Too much work for 1 credit class. Attendance is MANDATORY(very strict about this, if you're late also counts against you),1 quiz,1 class presentation,1 (8 page) research paper and (12 or so)posting to class forum are the requirements (she said post at least 2 but that won't get you the A). She is awesome, extremely helpful. Homeworks are really challenging, but if you need to go to her office more than once, she will always receive you with a smile and willing to help you. Exams are challenging too, but not impossible. She gives out a study topics list, so you can know what is coming for the exam. I definitely recommend her!

I took the online course of CGS2060. Let me tell you! What an amazing professor. She responds to your emails immediately, and is always wanting to help! This specific course should be easy for those who have a decent basis of computers.

TOO MUCH WORK FOR A 1 CREDIT CLASS. This class is very demanding with forum posts, research paper and powerpoint presentation that you have to complete. The professor is great though, she gives good advice towards your research paper. Try to cover all your bases early and you will come out with an A.

Excellent intructor. Recently took COP4723 with her (her first time teaching this course)...extremely clear when explaining, combines material from different places and provides great resources for learning. Hands-on learning. 5 stars quality.

She is a wonderful professor. I have been communicating with her even after taking classes. I hope those with negative remarks realise that she teaches somewhat "challenging" courses. Don't expect a walk in the park. My favorite professor at Florida Internation University -- hands down.

For an online class, it was pretty simple. The projects are just from the book, and she addresses any questions you may have. Anyone with average Excel knowledge can pass this easily. A word to the wise: Don't work with a friend on anything. She will accuse you of academic dishonesty.

The slide presentations in combination with her vibrant class lectures makes it easier to prepare for the exams. She is extremely helpful and her guidelines are very clear as to what the expectations are to succeed in her class. Hands down an excellent professor. I had her for my excel online. There are about 3 hard projects the rest are easy. When I needed the help she was always very very helpful, she is great. She will help you until you understand. She is great ! I didn't study for the test. Reason why I ding get an A. I did get A's in all the projects. Take her !!!

Excellent professor and hard work, while learning a lot. The class lectures are very clear and all the homework exercises and reading material are reinforced. Always there to answer questions, and I would recommend any course taught by this professor.

Professor McDermott-Wells is a no-nonsense "get stuff done" kind of person. She is very helpful to her students but can be quite cold at times I felt. This class is not for people who are computer illiterate. I didn't know jack about computers and I still don't! lol There are six projects, four of them are pretty difficult. The professor is working hard. She responds to all emails and posts from all students. I already knew about 50% of Excel and understood programming prior to the class. If you do not know any Excel and cannot teach yourself, do not take it online! There are no sessions once a week! But she is really helpful!

Very nice, responds quickly, grades fairly, gives you a lot of chances. I know the book is crazy expensive, but trust me you'll need it. Her "hints" and "explanations" are unclear. You'll spend a lot of time teaching yourself and searching. Good news is that the class is useful no matter your major. Study well for the tests. Excel is HARD!

One thing that differs Professor McDermott-Wells from other Professor, is that She is ALWAYS THERE WHEN YOU NEED HER. All you got to do is send her an email and your get a response in less then 12 hours, even on the weekends, that shows you how dedicated she is, I've had professor that take 4-5 days to reply.

Great Professor one of my favorites in FIU. This does not mean she is easy. She had so much experience and actually gives examples as to why what she is teaching you is important in Database Management. Test are not easy but she gives pretty good reviews. You just have to study.

Good professor, however she is monotone and sometimes you forget where you are or what's going on. Very helpful, although she likes to give you a fair share of work. You will learn a lot about Network Security concepts

Professor Wells is one of the best professors I've ever taken at FIU. This Visual Basic programming class was fully hands-on and she is great in demonstrating and explaining the many functions and standards in VB programming. Our final exam was several hours long and very tough, but I doubt she'll be making it a hands-on exam again in the future.

Class includes too many materials, terms, definitions. If you are at good at memorizing, take her, but I believe this class would be much more fun with a professor who values hands on than knowing the material word by word. The class is based on ppt, she explains quickly which makes participation impossible to the class.

You must pass the cumulative final exam with a grade of 70% or higher to pass this course, regardless of your course average. However, passing the final exam alone does not guarantee that you will pass the course. It is not an easy class, I am studying so hard, hope I can pass it.

I'm not gonna lie, this was a TOUGH class. One of the toughest I've taken at FIU, and her tests are no joke. She's strict, but she means well. By the time you leave her class, you'll KNOW what you're doing. Just don't expect this to be a cake walk, if you want an A, you better know the meaning of earning it. This class is not hard, but boy does she make it a pain! Assignments left & right, lectures are boring. You should just study the PowerPoints for the tests. The Midterm, and Final are worth 25 & 35% of your grade! You must pass the final with a 70% or higher. Yes, even if you have a 99.9% in the class & Bombed the final ... You're done!

She's one of the best IT professors in my opinion. Second time taking one of her classes. She's very into what she teaches and she really wants you to learn. Her Home Work is easy, and she gives multiple tests. Her tests are not that hard if you study, and she always gives a review. You have to get a 70 on the final to pass her class though.

She is the best professor within the IT program at FIU. She will teach you more and make you work harder than any other professor, but the knowledge and skills you gain in her class will definitely help you gain employment.

I have taken her twice, suffered both times (especially my last semester as an undergrad), but would definitely take her again! You will more than likely have panic attacks with her exams, but she cares that you LEARN the material. She prepares you for real life, which is what a lot of professors now a days lack. This class is easy enough as is. Pretty straight forward assignments and exams. 3 Word & 3 Excel assignments. Midterm and Final. Mideterm covers Word only. Final covers Excel only.

Wells is pretty good, she def knows her stuff. Its kinda funny how condescending she can be though. She knows when you're not paying attention and will treat you accordingly. Overall though easy A class. Midterm and final were easy, just study the PowerPoints. Just don't skip class, as you never know when there will be a lab you might miss.

Professor Wells is a very good teacher. She knows her stuff since she has been in the field for over 20 years. The class is very lecture heavy through power points, 16 quizzes, 2 group projects, a midterm, and final. Just pay attention in class and read the power points when needed and everything should be fine.

Hybrid course, meaning you have one day of in class lecture and the rest is on you. She recommended getting 3 books (about the cost of one expensive textbook), we read bits of each. Provides weekly preparations and resources on Moodle. Quizzes have less than 10 questions. One Group project, handful of assignments, mid term and final both cumulative

You have 4 exams total and a 70% minimum is required on final to pass the class. She knows the material so well, and wants to make sure her students do to. Sounds strict but the reality is she does not want to let a student pass when they don't know the material, and risk putting a corporations database at risk. She WILL teach you the material!

So Professor Wells is not the easy at all but she has a method to her madness and if you follow along her readings and labs you'll do fine. She is also very helpful out of class and will have many methods of communication if you have a question. Don't wait till last minute to read her slides for her exams.

She's very educated in the subject and she is a tough grader but you will learn. There's two group projects and every week there is a 5 to 10 min. quiz on the subject for the week. powerpoint slides range from 25 to 60 (this is a hybrid course). She will definitely give you feed back and always responds to emails. (Didn't use the 3 books in class)

Make sure to look at syllabus and get a system going to stay on track with work. Email professor she is there and will help with no problem. When she see's your committed and willing she will definitely help and try to refer you to get the necessary help needed to pass the course.

EVERYTHING IS SELF EXPLANATORY! She is honestly available all day and answers any question you have. I wish she could be my professor for every course!!! Take her class. You have to dedicate some time to the projects at the end of the week but you'll be grateful for learning the material. Thought I would never have to use Excel.. I DO!

She is so easy to get a hold of. You can email her or text her through whats app she will answer all of your questions. 7 projects a midterm and final. She makes videos telling you how to do the projects. You do have to study for the midterm and final. They also have to be taken in person. Easy A if you put in some effort.

CGS 2518 Dr. McDermott Wells is very helpful, polite, and responds quickly to any questions. Class was actually really informative and I actually have used the skills I learned outside of the class. There was one project a week, sometimes none so we could have study time. (Make sure to study!) Our midterm/final were taken on-campus.

She is a VERY fair professor. I took her for HCI and IoT and she does work with you. In her online IoT class you have no midterm or final only quizzes and one group project w/ Zoom meetings everyweek. Very knowledgable and answers questions fast (She WANTS to help you). You will learn in her classes, she doesn't beat around the bush with learning.

She is a good professor, Understanding, grades easy not too hard when it comes to gardening. Make sure you meet the requirements on the rubrics for discussion. Only 5 discussions, 10 quizzes easy af and one research paper which you will have to do with any professor. I could finish this class in 3 weeks lol. Just take it online for session A or B.

Based on 7 projects, midterm, and final. Projects are time-consuming but manageable if you watch the Momentos. Midterm & final are straight forward if you study the materials she posts. Do your work and study for the midterm and final and you'll be good! Genuinely cares for her students.

This is my 2nd time taking this professor & i think she's great. She makes you work for your grade but you will learn a lot from her. What I love most about her is how accessible she is to her students. She replies to texts and emails almost instantly. She is clear about what she wants and expects from you. Do the work and you'll do well.

She states the expectations for the course very clearly in her syllabus and replies fast (usually within the hour). Class consists of quizzes, weekly discussions, a research paper and a presentation for that paper. Overall pretty easy, and her lectures are also transcribed on Momentos which can be very convenient.

Solid professor that gives great feedback, is very accessible outside of class, and is clear about what she wants done on her assignments. Need to complete a hefty research paper and then take a video of you presenting that research paper. Other than that its easy quizzes and discussion posts.

With this Professor, you just have to follow her plan and you won't have a problem. She is tuff grader but she tells you exactly what you have to study. Weekly assignments following her videos, big final project, midterm, and final. She is available 24/7. First class in FIU that I actually had to code. I learned a lot from her.

Took course online, worried about understanding and following. But prof had great tools like MOMENTOS videos and group chat with tutors who were always available. Fair prof. Used textbook for references not shown in videos. Do the projects and you are well prepared for the midterm and final exam. I would take her again for other math classes.

This professor is almost always available. She has a class group chat and is very active with responding to questions. The course itself was a half semester class, but still had a decent amount of work in it. Not the hardest stuff though and the professor is pretty lenient with grading I'd say. Great choice! Really knows her curriculum.

Provides so many additional options to assist you with learning the material. Textbook, Momentos Videos, and a group chat for the class with access to the professor and many tutors. The projects are working problem with tools learned for the lesson. The Midterm was focused on knowing definitions and identifying the right tools to use when solving.

I suck at math. I want to emphasize that for others that are NOT good at math. This class is easy, but YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO WORK FOR IT. She is a great professor and outlines everything that you need to do. She makes a group chat for the class and has her TA's in it. VERY ACCESSIBLE outside of class, but you have to put in the work. The class was a little hard for me because I am not great with numbers, but the professor is great. She is always available to help and walk you through whatever you are having issues with. If you are taking Computer Data Analysis, I definitely recommend her.

Professor gives a couple of scenario-based assignments/forum posts and makes the class do a huge group IoT assignment that spans more than half the class. This class will most definitely make you work for your grade, and it won't be easy. She's very knowledgeable and helps out if you ask. Put in the work, and you'll likely receive an A.

Great professor, she wants you to learn. Half semester class, 10 quizzes, 6 discussions, 1 lib. research, 1 Paper, and Presentation. Important: follow the instructions on the rubric, she will grade based on what she demands. To pass with a C will require 73-76. Start paper and presentation with time, do not procrastinate.

I strongly suggest to take this 8-week online course with her. I expected this class to be dull but it was in fact very interesting. She used canvas and everything you would need was on there. She opens a Prof Whatsapp Chat for the whole class for any questions and she responds instantly. I would undoubtedly take her again.

This class consists of 10 easy quizzes, 5 discussions, one research paper and one presentation. If you follow the rubric carefully and don't procrastinate you will do well on the research paper and presentation. Actually try and do the work and you'll get an A. Weekly quizzes/discussion posts. Quizzes come mostly from the lectures and you get multiple attempts. Most of your grade does come from the final research paper/presentation, but you're given detailed instructions/examples to help you get started. She's also very open to feedback and easy to reach.

Most of the grade comes from a paper and a power point presentation. Teacher creared her own whatsapp groupchat and had amazing communication. You asked her anything about the work and she gave a nearly instant response. We also encouraged to use AI for a certain task

Professor Wells runs a detailed class with high expectations, but if you put in the effort, you can do well. The lectures are informative, and she's very responsive to questions. Unstuckstudy and Quizlet helped me prep for the quizzes.

Nice professor, she knows a lot about the field and she's nice to students, but she does want you to pay attention. The class was alright you might learn a few things. The assignments are mostly group work and presentations with a few quizzes. Although the final is a 2500-word essay + Powerpoint presentation so be ready for that.
