She is very nice, very smart, and fair.
Even though she is a very exceptional teacher, I don't think she's fair in the sense that she puts things on the test that her students haven't studied; therefore, the students get marked down. Is it just me, or does she always seem a little figgity?
I highly recommend her. She is a great math teacher. Very fair in grading and tries to give students lots of extra points. Definitely take her and you will do good in the class.
the best teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!!if you want to learn she is the teacher for you
Great professor! she tries to give a lots extra credits, sometimes in the end of the semester, she even let you take the exam home.Anyways, I got an A in her class. tests are 105 pts, she only count 100pts, cute teacher, very helpful, a lots of office hrs!
she is very nice. her tests are easy, coz she even gives you direction to study. rating is fair too.
She explains very well, doesnt gloss over anything, very nice and helpful, i enjoy doing math because of her. One of a kind math professor
Do the homework consistantly and you should be fine. Her tests are not extremely difficult because they are straight forward problems without any tricks. She even tells you about the questions on the exam the day before.
Nice and approachable, difficulty of tests based on # of ppl getting "A"s in class, if many smart ppl in ur class, tests will be harder each time, so tests are unpredictable, maybe good for teaching Calculus but not this course, but many extra c
Smartest woman in pcc, shy and modest, never embarrass students. Give excellent lectures.Tests are hard; final is even harder. Want to impove for a better grade in final, forget about it. Tests become harder and harder. Sit down and cry... :(
Everyone thinks she is one of easy teacher in pcc, but not for math 55. Every her test was getting harder. You can't guess it what kind test question you will have. I don't recommend you take her math55 class.
very nice and helpful. recommended
shes soSOso HARD!her exams are impossible to finish within the time constraint and her lecture style leaves much to be desired.shes nice yes, but who cares about nice?this is a MATH class not a manners class and her niceness doesnt improve ones ability to comprehend the material one bit.too much hw
HARD but a nice person
this was class was erxtremly easy i am a football player here and i took it during football season. i had four take home tests, 3 inclass writing test and one final. this class was kick back, she explains the work, good lectures, easy tests for 125....always zig zag man
What a best math professor at PCC, she explains very very good at lecture, and her tests are all from the homework and quizes, study hard you will be fine, highly recomm...
Tons of homework, homework, homework...but it helps you to practice more. Almost every lesson you have to do the classwork. And she is extremely nice!!! I think this reason is enough for me to take her class. Nice!
Calculus is not easy, but, Dr. Michel teaches calculus in a very well. Her humble manner makes it easy. Although there is a lot of homework-she is gracious enough to give plenty of time to do it. The tests are straight forward (no tricks) and she is available to help. Correct classwork earns extra credit. Extremely gracious teacher.
If you guys need to take a transferable Math class 4 CSU..then take Math 15 with her. It was soo easy! only 2 tests and a final.no quizzes! 12-13 Homework assign. only & 2 EZ projects(powerpoint)NO xtra cred.tho and she is soo understanding and NICE.she'll let you turn in ur papers and projects late..I'm getting a B. but that's cuz i slacked off...
She is a kind and hard working professor. She neva skips classes. Her first test n second test is easy. However, when it comes to the third and forth test, it is quite challenging. Therefore, you guys must get an A in the first and second test as she doesn't drop any test. Good Luck. Overally, she is an excellent instructor
Pretty good teacher. Covers everything very well. You must do homework to pass the tests. Otherwise there's no use in taking it. She's really helpful and sometimes you learn more when she does it one-on-one.
She's one of the best teachers I've ever had in PCC, she is really nice and very helpful. She makes every thing clear and easy to understand. She accapt late works and the tests are easy. You will just love her!
lovely & caring teacher. kinda looks like julia roberts.
Very good professor. I'm a little pissed off though ... I was less than 20 points away from an A out of 1000 points.
Very good professor. Very helpful and generous with her time. Will explain thing in depth and truly cares about her students' education.
she is a wonderful teacher. She is very patient and will go thru things you don't quite understand. She does accept late hw. She doesn't give out any extra credit but will drop the lowest test. just make sure you do your hw everyday!! don't copy the solution's manual!! she will not tell you exactly what is on the test so be prepared for each test.
Take another professor if you really want to learn calculus, all she does is just copy down her notes on the black board and expects you to learn. Most of her exam problems are much harder than the homework and in-class work problems. Take her only if you have a solid foundation in calculus or are retaking the course. Or else, stay away...
Not a good lecturer. She doesn't use the text book for lectures. Instead, she just mumbles and jot her notes down on the board, you are too busy copying the notes to listen to her at all. I practically had to learn calculus from the book on my own the whole semester.
She's one of the greatest math professors. Her notes are clear and her tests, although not easy, are always fair. She always starts with warm-up problems, then lectures and answers questions about the hmw, and sometimes she gives classwork problems (which you can even take home)which help you earn lots of points. I highly recommend her!
She is an AWeSOME professor. It's not an easy class, but if you do the hw,and read the book, you'll get an fair grade.TAKE HER!!YOU'LL NOT REGRET.
She's a nice lady. She says sorry to everything. For me, it's an easy class. You can make up at least most 10 points each test. Be sure to make notes, and be careful classwork.
really nice professor but she goes soo fast and she expects you to remember everything you learnt previously. WARNING! do not take this class unless you did really well in 5a!!!
Very straight forward she isn't there to trick to you, but she is stiff on her grading policy. Do every assignment in the class and you will do well (There is a lot of homework). What you do in the homework and classwork will be on the test. Extra credit is on each test. Best math teacher I have had in a while, highly recommended.
Warm ups at beginning of each class, classwork at the end. She explains every problem to the fullest extent even a 5th grader can understand it. Be sure to do your homework and NOT to make careless mistakes or else you'll do the same on the test. There's extra credits on the test and she lets you correct one problem for full points
She is definitely one of the best math professors ever. She's very kind and always tries to help you if you have questions. Her tests are very basic and as long as you do the hw you should be fine.
she's the sweetest lady! her exams are VERY easy if you do ALL of the homework and classwork :] good luck!
Pretty straight forward; Gives out extra credits. However, she grades a little bit harsher. She doesn't give you much partial credits. Overall,it's a difficult subject, what do you expect?
As long as you show up and attend class every day you should do very well. There is class work every day and tests are exactly from the HW problems and she gives you a review sheet. I got an A but you have to do the work.
I am glad that I took her for trigonometry. She helped me to strengthen my foundation is trig so that I would do better in my future courses. She is very helpful and goes over hw and practice problems at the beginning and the end of the class. She is an awesome teacher that I would never forget. Highly recommended.
i dont think she teaches math 9 very often b/c i took her for math 8 and then decided to take her for math 9 AND SHE SUCKED. regret very much. very confused and confusing teacher in math 9.
does not like low division math classes. considers precalc lower division -_- i guess it is but it doesn't mean we are idiots. stay away.
she has to be the most uneducated professor at pcc. half the stuff she taught us were wrong and didnt help me at all for calculus 5a. what a waste of time and money
Very nice lady and quite patient but can be very confusing most of the time. She jumps around a lot from questions and stuff. Make sure you take good notes and examples. She uses examples on the test most of the time, that's why her test's are pretty easy. If you hate math but need to pass it to tansfer just take math 15 and you're golden! =]]]
She is good.I'm taking her math 9 and she is a wonderful teacher. Her lecture is clear, although sometimes she goes too fast. Her tests are easy.Really a good teacher.I'm goint to take 5A next semester.I will still choose her if she teaches 5A in spring. Stronglly recommended!
This teacher is very hard because she never follow the book, she uses her note to teach. The tests are hard because what she said on the test is totally not ture.Always give tricky questions and no extra credit at all.A lot of student dropped from her class.
very nice and helpful professor. keep yer booger-hook out yer nose and focus your brain on math-thinkin in class, i promise you will learn. the classwork aint easy but its true to that its good practice for tests and homework.
Great teacher... class work was challenging sometimes. Tests were "ok". Study a little harder (especially chapter 4??? Graphing) and you'll be fine. Not much extra credit... Final exam was long and hard, random questions!!!! Remember: even if you get high scores on tests, the final exam can screw you up!!!
She's cool and a sweet little lady. What I liked best about her is she gives a lot of classwork and homework, and trust me, if you complete them, you will earn a lot of points that will help your final grade. Also, I liked that she told us exactly what is on the test! I ended up with a B in her class. It's generally not a hard class.
Great teacher!!! She will answer any question you have! She's humorous and genuinely likes her students. Her tests are similar to classwork/hw. She gives extra credit questions on the test, so you're allowed to mess up! I got over 100% in her class! Her lectures are clear and uses examples from the book. One of the best math teachers!
AMAZING! She's always in a good mood and very energetic. She tends to go over the material fats, but whatever she covers, thats what she'll test you on. No curveballs w/ this lady. Also an easy grader, gives loads of extra credit and makes it ok for u to get a better grade even towards the end of the course. I highly recommend her.
Great Math teacher. Best I have ever had. Really wants the students to do well in her class. She gives the test questions out to study.
Cool Person, but very difficult ended up getting a "W" in her class. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED.
I am taking her math path class. I love the way she teaches, explain theory and then come across few examples. Explains clearly and doesn't waste any one minute. She is not a easy grader but if u work on all assignments and revise for tests u can definitely get good grade. She gives extra credit on classworks and bonus on quiz. Her class is fun:)
I was in her Math 10/55 Path class. Believe me, she is not easy but you will def learn. She puts down lots of notes for you to copy and goes pretty quick. Do all the hw and be on your toes, some of her tests arent similar to the probs. After transferring I realized how great she was bc I still remembered what she taught and I got A's as a result.
Very friendly, approachable and always willing to help you out with anything you need. She will go out of her way to make sure you get her teaching. She's one of a kind!
Very friendly, approachable and always willing to help you out with anything you need. She will go out of her way to make sure you get her teaching. She's one of a kind! She really made me understand multivariable calc.
She is nice, but that's it. The grading system is a big mess. Even though I got an A but no thanks to her..she is a hard grader and not gonna show any mercy even though you got everything right except for the answer.
Be sure to get all the classwork and homework points and follow the reviews she gives, and you should be fine. I didn't do any of the homework but studied very hard the night before still got an A at the end. Be careful to not make any mistakes since she grades very hard! Overall she is very nice and helpful, no regrets!! :)
Extremely helpful, knowledgeable & sweet professor (in fact, I don't think one can get any nicer than her). I'll admit that this was the 1st time I struggled in a math class, but I learned A LOT. If you want a professor who will prepare you well for future math classes, she's an excellent choice. Be sure to do the HW and classwork! :)
Lectures are clear, she is patient, but she is really a hard grader, avoid her if you want to transfer to a good university. Hard grader doesn't care about your future.
Great, knowledgeable professor! Very down to earth, and her lectures are superb. But beware... Her Math 10 class is beyond difficult (BY FAR the hardest math course I've taken thus far). Math 5A-C seem like baby math compared to Math 10. :P Nevertheless, you'll learn a lot from her courses.
She is a very good professor. I have never been one to do well in math but I took a math path course for trig with her this past fall and I actually pulled through with a B on both courses. She will explain things over and over if you do not understand. Gives partial credit for attempted problems even if you get the wrong answer! Do your H.W!
I take math 10. She is too hard. You can not get A
Math Path Teacher. Knowledgeable, Kind, Helpful. HW once every 2 days. HW about 3-4 hours long. By the book material. Tests reflect classwork, and example problems in class. Work quickly through exams. No calculator allowed, not required. Can get a B on all exams, and through points get A in class. Do make any extra review sessions before final.
I've taken her MathPath 95A in fall, and I've got A for both courses. If you want to get an A, you have to do the homework and classwork as much as you can do because they take 20% of your total grade. Also, the test with lowest grade will be dropped, which is awesome. Then, she gives a bunch of extra credit. You guys must take her class!!!!!!!!!!
This class really wasn't that hard (provided you remember everything from 5B). Extra credit opportunities on every test, and plenty of time to finish the tests. Her lectures weren't always clear, and correspond poorly with the textbook (which is horrible). That said, she's always helpful if you have questions.
The class was fairly easy as long as you follow her notes in class.
Prof M is kind and awkward. She cares deeply for her students overall success in the class. Her lectures weren't always clear. CW is easy, but this semester she used an online software for HW which was horrible-3-4 SECTIONS 30-35 probs anight (mainly becuz it was online). Tests about 20 probs work quickly through exams(no calculator)
She is the sweetest! She's very shy so class can get out of control sometimes. She really cares for her students and hopes they do well. Sometimes she's not really clear during lecture, but if you ask a question she'll definitely explain! She is also VERY clear on what is going to be on the tests. Overall, love her and would recommend the class.
She's so kind and sweet, but very shy. I always hated when people spoke over her. She goes over each question and gives an exam review days before the actual exam, even the final. Drops lowest test score and there's an extra credit question on each exam. Make sure you go to office hours, the book isn't very good. She really cares. I'll miss her!
She is a fair professor. Everything is about average. Grade inconsistently and extra credit bonus question in every test.
Professor Michel is truly one of a kind. Shes incredibly smart; she knows her stuff better than anyone I've met. Warm up problems and classwork everyday. Shes super helpful and always makes herself available for students. You always know whats on the test, but sometimes the problems are tricky. Extra credit on tests and hw.
Took her two years ago, and now after transferring, I am realizing how the content she taught was very good. There are things I didn't like about her class and BARELY passed. However, the material she taught was A+. I had to reference something tonight from DE that I've only see in her class, and I realized I've seen a lot in my upper div classes.
She is a very nice professor, but her lectures are not clear and she skips a lot of steps expecting us to know. Gives classwork everyday, sometimes she would give classwork on problem she didn't even teach. Exams are somewhat hard, she gives hard and confusing problem, which means she doesn't care if we fail her class. No good feedback on work.
Honestly worst teacher I've had at PCC. Goes through material very quickly like she expects you to already understand what she is supposed to be teaching you. Does not like to answer student questions. Allowed her TA (also a student at PCC) to assign huge amounts of homework having no idea what was being assigned. Waste of a semester.
She's always open to answer ANY questions! She's extremely accessible. Her TA grades the homework like I don't know.. every other TA? Professor Michel assigns everything. She outlines what is on every exam & final a week before. "Please read the indicated sections in your textbook and go over the examples before class." via syllabus you get day one
Weak lectures - monotone and very low voice, also non-engaging. You could barely make out what she says from the first row. Needs microphone. Tough exams. Prepare for exams with hardest problems you find. I think she doesn't like teaching. Clear grader, lets you know whats on the test. No calculators and remember ALL math skills ever learned .
Took her class for Math Path 5AB and her class is difficult if you dont pay attention and study test material. Her exams are easier than the homework that she assigns so as long as you understand how to do the homework, youd be able to get A/B on the exams. Shes a very caring professor despite being a hard grader. Overall, would take her again.
Michel tends to face the board and narrate as she works out problems. Not much student interaction or checking comprehension. However she is super nice, caring, and accessible at office hours. VERY generous grader. Linear is just HARD though, almost half the class dropped by the end. Not the best math educator, but far from worst, I'd recommend her
She's really nice. She doesn't give away points though, and she expects you to know the prerequisites. She'll answer all of your questions, so if you have one you better ask right away.
Professor Michel is a wonderful professor. I received a B for both courses. Math is not an easy subject, especially when split into two, 8 week courses. She genuinely cares for her students and simply taking the time to actually see her during office hours will definitely benefit you as she is willing to explain further concepts not understood.
This class was what I felt like a real college class would be like. She does not spoon feed you the material but will go out of her way to explain anything to you that you do not understand if you just ask. Super helpful during office hours. Graded classwork every day. Gives extra credit and is super generous with partial credit.
Professor Mitchel is one of the smartest humans in the planet. I took her both for Math 10 and Math 55. If you're a lazy person don't take her. She expects you to work. But, the rewards are amazing! Her one semester lectures are equivalent to a full year of material once you transfer to university. And, she teaches it way better.
Michel is an average math professor- lectures are long and delivered in complete monotone. Tests are difficult and require plenty of memorization. While she is accessible out of class, her emails are often vague and short.
repeated entry due to network error
Professor Michel's very approachable and her teaching style suits me quite well. She's more about solving problems with examples than writing abstract definitions and concepts. Her tests aren't easy, but they aren't as too bad either. The study guide she provides before the test is super helpful, be sure to study those.
By far one of the best professor at PCC. She is very knowledgeable about the subject but she is also understand and very willing to help a student out. If you find yourself needing to take math path I highly recommend her 100/10!
She can not make MATH 055 any easier. She gives amazingly detailed lectures, and she's very patient with all the students. You will do both exam and homework assignments on WebAssign(HW graded by completion percentage with infinite attempts). The exam questions are ALL directly pulled from your homework questions(PDF works only required for exams).
She is one of the best math professors I had at PCC. Her lectures were clear with examples, and all the exam questions were all the easiest questions pulled directly from homework. She will post the specific types of questions on the exam a week before. She is so lovely and knowledgeable, and you will not regret taking her for MATH 55.
She is very smart and knowledgeable about the material but went over everything quickly (1-hr), so class notes + recorded lectures were very helpful. Exams were not as difficult as some of the hw probs but that is only because you'd have had enough practice from doing the hw, and study guides tell you what types of problems will be on the exams.
Horrible online teacher. I took her for Calculus 3 and she lectures with notes and solutions already typed out. Like what? With math youre supposed to start from scratch and work out the problems along with the class, not already have everything written out prior. She jumped too many steps and was difficult to follow. Do not recommend. Stay away.
She is super monotone and a bad instructor. She rushes through the material and doesnt explain things well. Ive never had such a bad instructor. If there are other options, please avoid her.
Dr. Michel is super easy to reach and willing to help. I took math path which made it much more rushed, but it still felt doable. Lectures did end up being a little monotone, but maybe its because we're in zoom with no cameras on. Although homework assigned was difficult, she has exam questions similar to her classwork, which was far easier.
Lovely Professor, she truly cares about her students. It's not a free A though, you definitely need to put in the work but she's always willing to help with a great attitude. If you skip classes and don't ask her for help on the classwork, you probably won't do great.
Easily the best math professor I've ever taken. Zoom attendance was encouraged (class participation resulted in extra credit) however all the lectures and notes were posted on canvas for schedule flexibility. There is weekly homework and 1-2 "classwork" questions due the day of lectures. She really cares about her students and is easily accessible
This is a tough class, but professor Michel is very helpful! she makes herself available if you have questions. Study consistently! I was procrastinating a lot when I took her class and was going to get a C, but she was very gracious and allowed me to do extra credit. Im not saying to expect extra credit, im just saying she is pretty kind
Dr. Michel is nice, polite, and friendly. She gives extra credit during class if you catch her make a mistake. Attendance isn't mandatory, but very helpful. She posts class notes and Zoom recordings after lecture. Prof Michel is ready to help with anything during office hours. Lots of homework, but it helps prepare for tests.
she expects you to know everything, so you need to be prepared in trigonometry, algebra, and pre-calculus. She is also a very tough grader, but she is always available during office hours and is very helpful in explaining things you may not understand. It was a challenging class but if you just complete every homework you should receive a B.
tough grader, takes points off the smallest things. Does not teach concepts well, and expects you to know them already.
She gives extra credit for correcting her during class and is willing to help after class, which was honestly the best part of this class. Her lectures are very fast-paced and she grades harshly, on classwork and tests. You have an index card for tests, so you don't need to stress about memorizing formulas. You have to put in effort for this class.
Nice and cares for her students. Fast-paced lectures and sometimes you won't understand what's going on. she's willing to stay after class to help with classwork and is patient. Exams are pretty hard but we can have an index card. No calculators. Grades tough on classwork so I highly recommend finishing it in class and checking the ans with her.
Patricia is one of the worst professors I have ever taken at PCC. She consistently makes off a significant amount of points for the tiniest of errors. An example of this is when I asked her to thoroughly look through my responses. She stated that "Everything is correct", only to receive an 8 out of 10. Look elsewhere, or else you will suffer.
This professor is by far the worse one I've had at PCC. She constantly makes mistakes during lectures and does not record her lectures. Her exams are hard with no study guide, she gives a total of 5 exams including the finals(optional). She takes a chunk of points off because you make a small mistake. 75% of the class dropped out after the 4th week
If I could use profanity in Rate My Professor reviews, every single word here would be profane. I was doing very well in my math courses at PCC, and it went downhill with this class. Her tests are pretty difficult, and she takes away points for very minor things. If you hate yourself, take this class.
No need go to class she doesnt care, tough on grading and take off alot point on the hw and cw also exam, which mean one problem a little mistake take off like 10% of the exam.
While she is a very kind lady, she literally just flies right through the lecture material. No one ever asks questions because she moves on so quickly, and by the end, you're either able to do the classwork with no genuine understanding of how or why it works, or you're left asking her for help on how to do it little by little. Wouldn't take again.
I've taken stats, the entire calc series and linear algebra but differentials was the hardest for me. However, if you study and actually do the Webassign homework, the tests shouldn't be too difficult. Prof Michel will grade your test super quick in 2-3 days which I appreciate a lot and there are EC opportunities. She's caring and generous.
I really like my experienced learning from her. She is really caring and approachable if you have questions. There was a lot of homework but it prepared you for the tests. Tests were also fair and she reviews what questions will be on it a week before.
Dr. Michel was very supportive in class and during office hours. She gives regular feedback on your classwork assignments so you know what areas you need to work on before the exam. Lectures can cover a lot of material quite fast, but I think they really sharpened my skills for future, higher level math courses. Always very approachable and kind.
If you did well in 5B Integrals/derivatives, you will do fine in this class. She tells you what questions are on the test and homework is webassign. Classwork is due the night of lecture. You may get lost in lectures but as long as you do the homework and understand it, you will get a high A.
I highly recommend taking Professor Michel if you get the chance to. She is an amazing and super caring professor. Her classwork and homework assignments can help balance out your grade and the tests are very similar to her classwork problems. She is very accessible outside of class and honestly one of the nicest professors I have ever had.
If you fail her class, it's all your fault. Take her if you have a chance.
Michel tells you exactly what to study for before her exams + her classwork looks very similar to the test problems. Exams have a good amount of EC and the classwork is a big part of your grade. You can also opt-out of the final if you like your grade beforehand! Take her and you won't regret.
Great at explaining topics and tests contain exactly what she tells you they will have. Lots of opportunities to make up for poor grades with extra credit and dropped tests. Homework can be long and tedious, but it's a fair trade off for the extra credit. No calculators allowed, which sucks, but you get a notecard on tests so that kind of makes up.
Notes and lectures are super straight forward and easy to understand. Her tests questions are similar to the classwork problems, so review those to prepare for tests. Allows a note card on each test and she gives lots of extra credit, which can really boost your grade. If you did good in MATH5A, you should easily be able to get an A.
Professor Michel was not really helpful. After lectures, I would go to her to ask for help but she just repeated the same thing to me so it was utterly useless. At the beginning of the semester, the class was completely full. At the end, almost half of the class was gone...I don't know why I stayed.
Couldn't keep up. Not very helpful when you ask question. Treats her subject as if it was breathing(which, good for her, what a flex). Have a no calculator policy which wasn't written on her online syllabus, but on her handouts. Strict late policy. Lots of homework, 10 points per week, about .3 points per question, lowest I saw was .16 point each.
Professor Michel's MATH55 class is challenging but manageable. She provides clear guidance on what to focus on and her grading is fair. Using tools like unstuck ai along with the textbook can really help stay on top of the material.
