she is a strong minded person, yet she is sweet. she also has good teaching skills! The best thing that i like about her is the way she always use her personal experince to give examples, such as in essay writing. I would recommand her to anyone who wants to learn effectivly and fun! she is fun!

Professor Osterman creates a fun learning environment, she goes through all the material until everyone understands it. The one thing I recommend is to really speak up in her class, let her know what you're having problems with. She's such a sweet lady and very understanding and personable. There are labs but nothing overbearing.

She's a really nice professor and her class is cool. I recommend that you take the online labs so you don't have to visit the lab as much and her reading assignments are generally easy. When you do the online test, they are easy to, I recommend this professor.

I start prep 1 English not understanding the proper grammer to use when writing. About work: Lab exercises online (better than doing them in the SLC)! textbook assignments, blackboard, and the 2 book reports, if you do all the work (on time) it's worth it. & you will pass the class and the exit exam.

Very good professor. She is very sweet and very helpful. She will often allow the class to do several revisions on the paper. As long as you keep interest and participate in class she will help you out. Her only pet peeve is showing up late to class. Otherwise she is very understanding. I highly recommend! :)

I loved her class. Great teacher very sweet dont get on her bad side though! She hates it when your late or if you talk over her. She is very understanding, anwsers all your questions, makes sure you understand it throughly. She does give alot of work but as long as you try and I mean really try (she can tell if you are)you should pass!

She is such a good professor. She will help you after class if you need. You will have to write lots of papers (reaction ones) for a "notebook" binder and 3 major essays. With the first essay you will be writing like 3 drafts(which is good) and she will give you feedback until the final draft. Same thing with the other ones. I TOTALLY recommend her

I had been out of school for awhile and this was my first real class ive taken in a long time. I loved it! Dont take this class if you dont want to work. The work load is intense, yet managable. This is honestly the best professor on campus we have so far at palm beach state college. you wont regret taking her class! shes very understanding and helpful with your assisments. I woke up every morning ready to take her class because of how interesting her learning topics were and how involved she got us as students to learn in her class.

Mrs. Osterman is a kind hearted teacher. You will work for your grade but as your working towards that A she helps you tremendously. Thus, you learn way more than if the class was just plain easy. You'll love having her as a teacher!

If you take this teacher don't by the book, just when you need they go check it out in the library save money, but overall class was hard but you will get thought it, 3 paper but a lot of rewrites, and about 14 journal those are easy but so time consuming but do them all to keep a good grade, she very helpful when working on your paper!

Professor Osterman is one of the most outstanding professors you can take for ENC1101. She has a great personality, very helpful (mentor),cares about her pupils immensely, and prepares you for the future. Her class was quite an experience and I definitely recommend anyone to take her. I took her enc1101 lab class. She was very helpful. She made sure everyone understood before moving on. She definitely helped improved my writing. The class was very fun and energetic not boring like most.

At first I thought her class and grading was hard, but every paper I got back got an A. P.S there's alot of reading from the patterns book but otherwise it was a very fun and involving class, there is also a small group presentation for the last paper. Trust me this class was the best class for me all semester!

I have to say, She was born for English course's teaching. Not only this. she is such a passionate and helpful professor in her whole classes . She is a professor not only teaching language techniques but also as a mentor for caring her students. I love her! what her teaching is crystal clear to understand and excellent.

She's just awesome. She does stuff about your name. First essay was bout your name(definition, how you got it and what it means to you) the second one was she chose topics but you choose what you want the one you want and its also group work. The last one i don't remember but it was the finals. she also have journals that you have to write.

Amazing teacher to say the least. She is a hard grader and she makes you work for your grade, but it was worth it. Topics on paper were easy to relate to and easy to write. Loved working in groups for projects. Highly recommend this professor. She is so caring and funny.

Prof Osterman is one of the nicest teachers I've ever had at PBSC. She cares about her students and makes her class interesting. We move our desks in a circle at the beginning of each class and everyone discusses the story we read prior. Each story had a paper assigned which consisted of a summary and reaction to the story. Two exams, very easy.

She grades pretty tough, but that's only because she really wants to push you to reach your fullest potential. She helped me improve on my writing skills so much. I would definitely recommend taking this professor if you want to improve on your writing skills and are in for a little challenge while you're at it.

If you have to take this class I strongly suggest taking Prof. Osterman. She makes the material we cover interesting and she's very down to earth. Participation is important so make sure you speak up, have opinions, and show up. Overall this was my favorite class, I really enjoyed it.

Prof. Osterman was great! I have to admit I was nervous about taking contemporary lit but she made it very interesting, fun, and effortless. She does assign a journal entry for all the stories we cover but they are easy. She is not a tough grader. A midterm and a final. Participation matters. Would recommend her to anyone! First of all you have to do work in this class, its college so get over it. All the journal assignments were pretty easy. I learned a lot. Prof. Osterman is awesome. Down to earth and very nice. I would recommend her to any student taking Contemporary Lit. Probably can not get better than her.

Amazing teacher. Would take again for another class. She explains every well and learned alot from her. She gives you short stories from the book or hand outs to read and you have to write a response about them or a short easy quiz. She drops the lowest grade as well. She is an amazing professor! You will do a lot of short stories, story analysis( 1 page) and in class discussion but she makes them extremely interesting. Also, she gives out great feedback and she drops your lowest grade.

She is a great professor, take this class! The readings may or may not be for you, but we have group discussions and big class discussions/debates which are usually very interesting. This professor shows us a lot of 'real-world' things to make us question ourselves, the world, and think. If this is the type of class you are looking for, take her!

By far one of the best teachers I ever had in my entire life, the way she teaches make topics that would be hard to grasp a lot easier. 10/10 would take a class she teaches again.

Professor Osterman was extremely positive and motivational. No tests were given. She has an amazing way of keeping our attention with her sense of humor while making sure we understood.

She will help you as much as you will help yourself. If you want to pass she will help you. But, you need to show effort in order to receive aid.

Be prepared to write a lot of papers even if they are short topics. Make sure you show up to class even if the professor emails the assignments.

English has never been a strong subject for me, but after taking Professor Osterman I feel like she has definitely helped me a lot. This wasn't an easy class, and I had to work pretty hard to receive my A, but it was definitely worth it. She assigned us projects that really stimulated thinking, and I would definitely take her again.

She was probably the best English professor I've ever had. There were a lot of essays (8 including final) but they were good practice. Participation is mandatory in this class, but it's not hard, she doesn't ask difficult questions. She's a tough grader but my writing greatly improved because of it. I'd definitely take a class with her again!

You have to work but you get back more than what you put in for sure. Shes very intelligent and well-rounded, easy to learn from.

Osterman was the best professor I've had so far at PBSC. Her smaller assignments set you up for success for the major papers. She gives opportunities to revise your papers until they are perfect and offers extra credit! Definitely would recommend to every student!

If you do all assignments from the beginning of the semester till the very end, it would be an easy A. ALL the work she assigns will be useful for something further down the class.

She was very thorough at the beginning of the course in explaining what she expected. If students needed help, she would assist them and explain further. She is very patient and kind, fair grader.

I'm a dual enrolled high school student and I needed one more credit of English to graduate high school so I took this college writing course. We had three essays throughout my 12 weeks. They were all interesting topics that made us THINK. We also reviewed some little things like grammar and writing style. Great class, definitely recommend.

Really good professor, gives solid feedback, fair grader, you definitely earn your grade. Homework or some sort of reading in between just about every class, but not anything too hard, just have to find the time to do it. The test's, exams, anything like that were fair and clear, reflecting everything covered previously in the course.

She is very kind, honest, and pushes you to do your best. I learned a lot from her. She is awesome. I would recommend participating in her discussions.

Loved Professor Osterman! She is very knowledgeable on literature and linguistics. Expect to write a summary and analysis for every story, and a few essays in the second half of the term. She is very clear on what is expected and helps break down the ideas and themes of the stories after we read them on our own to provide a better understanding.

Professor Osterman was one of the best English teachers I've ever had. She is so down-to-earth and caring; it's hard not to like her. Each class you'll be required to read a story and write a summary and analysis, but they don't take long, maybe an hour. As long as you have some knowledge of structuring an essay you'll pass this class with an A.

prof O is a really good teacher you can tell she knows what she is talking about. if you never show up you WOULD NOT pass the class, she breaks every assignment up into chunks, so it is not overwhelming shes pretty good.

Prof. Osterman makes a good class. Assignments are clearly outlined from the begining and as long as you follow instructions you will pass. Make sure you always attend class as she grades you for it. If i had the choice i would take this class again and it is probably one of the easiest out of all the college comp 1 classes.

She is a very honest teacher, for example, right of the bat she lets you know who is as a person. No textbook is needed for this class which is really convenient, but this class does include peer -review. I highly recommend her, I'm even trying to take her again for a LIT course

Textbook is mandatory, you will be required to read the stories because there will be a quiz. However, she takes the time to go over the story and discuss the questions especially for those having trouble understanding them. Homework isnt too difficult, just read the assigned story and write a summary/ analysis. Class is easy, show up &amp; do the hw.

Great teacher! She suggests getting Grammarly to help with essays and I recommend you get it! Using Grammarly got me A's and B's on my essays. If you're okay with assignments after every class, I recommend her. Easy A's and B's. She gives good feedback and lets you submit your essays (3 total) up to 3 times if you'd like to get a better grade.

I LOVED THIS CLASS. The professor gave a lot of reading assignments but they were short (often only a couple of pages). She went in depth analyzing each story and pointed out details that I hadn't noticed. Also, coming from someone who sparknotes every book I have to read, I was interested in almost everything she assigned and actually read.

The class was superb despite remote learning. She seems tough as first glance, but she gives excellent exercises and feedback on your papers. If you listen to her advice and fix what you need to fix, watch your grade increase by tenfold! The class is easy if you put genuine effort into the homework/assignments. An easy A in my book!

Best Lit teacher ever! Take her!! You will not regret it. She is really nice, easy grader, very understanding, and drops low grades. The classes are very engaging and interesting. Class was never boring. If the class is troubled with catching up on work she'll extend it.

I would definitely recommend taking Professor Osterman for whatever class you can! She is really sweet and her class teaches you how to think. I didn't think the class was that hard to pass, as long as you do the work and show improvements and prove that you are trying she isn't going to fail you.

Professor Osterman gives 1-2 readings a week with corresponding critical responses or quizzes, however, her class is very engaging. All the work she gives helps further your understanding of comprehending literature. Also if you have a hard time with some of the texts, she goes over all of them in detail during class.

We have Draft 1, 2 and a final draft for every essay. Draft one is usually an automatic 100. Honestly if you fail her class it's because you were lazy.

She was a great professor no cap. She gave interesting stories but be prepared to read 2 stories every week and write 2 paragraphs about them(towards the end she chills on them). She explains and digs deep into stories very well, so if you didn't get it, it's okay. A few quizzes not a lot. I hate english and writing but this was a good course frfr.

Professor Osterman is the best professor I have had in my first year here at PBSC. I have never been the one to do great with deadlines and turning work in on time but the way the professor sets up the course it is minimal work but often. The required essays are not long essays but that means she wants them done right. She gives amazing feedback.

I could not have asked for a better professor. This was my first semester of college and I went in not knowing what to expect. Professor Osterman gave me insight and writing advice that I did not know existed. We developed my writing so much over the course of the semester and went super in depth on the technicalities. This professor was one of the best ones I've ever had. She can seem overbearing or eccentric, but she is genuinely passionate about the subject she teaches and wants students to do well. She challenges you to think critically, analyze the things you read, and develop your writing skills. She is big on academic tone (no "you" in academic writing!).

SLACKERS BEWARE! I got easy As in high school and thought I could coast. First English class I had to work hard in. Once I realized, she was giving me feedback to help me grow, I started putting in the hours this class requires. She gives so many tools and support. I barely finished with a B but I earned that grade and am confident for 1102

HS English was a joke. Prof O means business. I never worked so hard for a grade but i followed her and got tutoring. I started getting better grades in other classes too and other profs started noticing my writing. My mentality changed. Now I think deeper, try harder, ask questions, and use support services. Overall great teacher, there was a lot of reading and critical thinking paper you had to write. She did help develop my thinking more. Trust yourself don't overthink or second guess yourself. This class was a free space for you to voice your interpretation of the materials.
