She is by far my favorite professor at Baruch. She is soo sweet and nice and makes you feel comfortable when it comes to public speaking. You make 3 speechs, informative, group, and persuasive, all very easy. I highly recommend her for COM1010.

If your taking COM1010, you gotta take Prof. O. She is the BEST. You make 2 speeches and one mock discussion. Shes an easy grader. Plus she makes you feel comfortable and makes the class feel as a whole and not a group of individuals.

Someone recommended Prof. E and I'm so glad I listened!!! The class is a little boring and her videos are super outdated, but she is very light on the courseload. The biggest negative is that I didn't improve my comm. skills at all, but I got an A+.

Prof O. makes the class feel very relaxed and comfortable. I feel like I'm giving a speech in front of a group of friends, not antagonistic strangers. Even her lectures are interactive, and she tells some funny stories throughout. Definitely take her.

She's refeshingly relaxed. She makes the whole class seem like a group of friends and that definitely takes the pressure off. A realistic grader and supernice person. A Mets fan too!

One of the best prof. at Baruch. She gives you personal attention in order to improve, she criticises the speeches and is a little strict on the grading but gives you a chance to get an overall good grade. SHE IS A MUST!!!

As ESL student,i am scare of communication class. but she is a great professor. she gave you a confidence even you speak not that perfect. and if you do everything she require, it is easy to get a good grade.

She is one of the best in Baruch College. Her lectures are interesting. She respects students. She encourages students a lot. This is very important to the ESL students who lack of confidence at the very beginning. 2 speeches and one group discussion.

She's a great teacher and grades very nicely. We did one group discussion, 2 solo speeches and 2 short answer "speeches (1 minute)." If you get to know her she basically gives you an A no matter what. I think the class average was an A-.

I don't understand why does everybody says that she is a great professor, cause she is not. There is nothing to teach in this class. All she does is grading. Don't think that I'm agry because I got a bad grade, that is not true. I got B+. But this lady in an unfair grader.

she's very nice. exam is easy. she looks for grammar and pronunciation, and diction etc. in your speeches, so if you're not good in speaking english, don't take her. BUT she's majorly nice, even though she sometimes plays favoritism, and i am not one of them. NICE NICE.

What a great professor:) I love her, she is such a sweetheart. Final is take home , which is 20% of your final grade. She is very fair in grading. Take her if u get a chance, you will not regret.

She is very helpful: I was in her morning section but I came late every time. So she suggested I sit in her afternoon class (on the same days) and receive the grade for the morning class. Really clear. And of course she takes points off grammar and pronunciation--it's a communication class!!

VERY EASY but she does have favorites, even if they suck at speaking they will still get good grades. 1 test and it's a take home test, give it in early rather than the due date it apparently gets you a better grade. Get on her good side early on.

over all she is a eazy prof and pretty helpful if you have any questions. but she really has favorites. if you are a esl student, no matter how hard you try, you still get no higher than B. 3 speechs and a take home final. she is NOT fair on grading for those esl students.

Although she is easy in the sense that she gives take home exams, little or no notes at all, I think that she is a favoritist. I remeber giving a speech that contradicted her views, and I was marked extremely low, with a sarcastic comment on my paper. Take her if you want an easy A, but its not guaranteed, if you say something that she dislikes

She really is a great teacher. She gives tips that will help you in her class and more importantly in life. One final- 1/2 take home n the other 1/2 was just as easy cuz the questions came straight out of her 10 lectures. Her grading is critical but not harsh. Easy A as long as you dont mess up too badly. Better than all the other com1010teachers

Not the easiest. A bunch people got B+'s in the class instead of A's. Can be very critical when grading speeches. Once you screw up on one speech, forget about your A. I got 100 on the test and still got B+. Take brewster to get an A.

took her for the summer 05. It's true, she has her favorites. KISS some ASS. Make jokes, help her out is a +. She gives ALOT of B's, rarely A's. I remember this girl got like a 90 on her speech when she only made one supporting point throughtout the entire speech while i got a 80 something while providing statistical & atleast 4 supporting facts. e

ignore everyone up here that says something bad. do your work and take your time while speaking. i saved this class till my last possible chance and i did fine. she is critical and likes everyone to volunteer, BUT THATS HER JOB!!! something very few people seem to get, if you suck at speeches she will tell you why, and how to impove. great prof.

Very helpful & understanding. I took her during the summer though. Only 3 major speeches(Informative, Persuasive & Impromptou) only 3 mins. long, and one group debate. Nothing hard.One Final exam all based on vacab. words from class notes.I barely prepared on my speeches and I got an A-. Take her when you can, she is very EZ, you won't regret it.

If u are petrified of public speaking, take her class. She is very easy going and in being so your audience is less critical of you. Reread your notes to pass the exams. No other homework but knowing your speech topic comfortably.

The people who say she is horrible are VERY retarded. This class was the easiest A I have ever gotten in my life. There is 1 take home exam and only 3 speeches and of that 1 is a group debate. If you don't take her, you are missing out. She also explains things very well and you do NOT need the textbook, and she is readily available to help.

If you know how to use your vocal chords, she is a great teacher. I mean its pretty hard to believe that someone in college would have trouble opening his or her mouth once in a while. Just participate and you'll get an A. After all it is a communication class, what do the ppl think they are going to get an A in the class without speaking?

The class is a communication class.. If you can't properly communicate in the english language do you deserve to get higher than 80 out of 100?

This teacher is the best. She provides accurate criticism. Even though some kids really stink at giving speeches, she still gives them great scores. If you can open your mouth you'll get an A. Don't be confused by those bitter kids who just can't cut it (in her class or the real world)

PEople are so harsh. This teacher was super nice. You dont have to participate if you dont want to just do you speeches it does not even have to be great but if she sees you did your best she will still give you a high grade. I barely spoke up in class, I did my speeches fairly and I was surprised that she still gave me A's on the speeches. Easy A

Excellent professor.Four speeches consisting of these types:informative, persuasive, group, and impromptu. Very Easy final. As long as you put effort into developing every speech and dont mess up the delivery TOO much you'll get a good grade. Tips to get the A are to stay away from vocalic pauses, do good research, and practice your delivery.

She is a wonderful person n professor i dont kno ppl r giving her bad ratings she isnt that demanding!! u do need to put some effort into it but come on its college get over it there are HORRIBLE speech teachers and she is NOT 1 of them she makes u do 4 speeches n u do need to do research for 3 of them but its easy put some effort n its an easy A!

Great Teacher - not the easiest - you will need to work in this class to learn, but she can really help you with any issues you have with public speaking. Very approachable if you have questions or a problem.

She's a great professor. I was anxious at first, but she's really easy going. Her feedback after speeches were encouraging. No homework, just 1 Informative, 1 Persuasive and 1 Impromptu Speech and 1 Group Discussion as well as a midterm. It seems that Summer Sessions are easier.

Take her class, she's the easiest teacher. She grades easily. She's not strict at all. Doesn't care about exact timing of speaches and theres no real requirents for the speaches. Just go up and know what your talking about.

She is one of the best professors i had so far in baruch. It is so easy to get an A in her class just pay attention come to class take notes and your good. She is very clear with what is expected of you and is very helpful. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

She is a good professor. took her during summer. Grade primarily based on how well you give speech but she is forgiving on how she grades you. She never used the text. Take home test was based on notes so take good notes.

great proffessor. Her lectures were interesting/funny and thats saying something because it was a 7:50 class. she grades just as she says she will, and honestly don't worry about your pronouciation if you have a accent because its only worth minor points on your overall speech score, so just do the rest well. It's a speech class, speech matters.

she definitely has her favorites! I would hate to be one of her kids because she does not hide her favoritism well. but overall seems to be an okay teacher apart from that.

She's a very human teacher. She will give a higher grade to a poorly prepared speech that comes out natural than a well-prepared speech that is delivered sounding like a robot. PREPARE YOUR SPEECHES WELL AHEAD. A lot of students just read from a paper too much and she takes points off. Suggest another teacher but if you must she's not so bad.

Dont listen to people who say that she is a hard grader.If you prepare ur speeches well ahaed,you will do fine.Nice person,great professor.And if you are not a native speaker she doesnt care about your accent.

She seems demanding at first but then is not as intimidating. Her feedback is amazing! Use it to improve your future speeches. She looks for improvement, not just a natural. Take her if you can! You will learn a lot about speeches and life. I took her in the summer and was glad I did :)

3 speeches, one group discussion, and multiple choice test which is basically common sense. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't. Just prepare for your speech and you'll do fine. After your speech she'll tell you what you should improve on and just take that into consideration for your next speech. She isn't a hard grader at all.

She has favorites. Often the grades didn't make sense. If you do a decent speech she will surely give you a 90 out of 100. But it's really hard to get more than 95. So getting an A in this class is really hard, but getting an A- is absolutely possible.

I took her for a summer session and she is a very sweet lady. She's very lenient and easy going. Her critiques on your speeches are very helpful and its not impossible to get an A or A- in this class. I'm glad I took her.

Prof. Ougourlian is amazing! I had her for summer session last year and I learned so much! I could see myself progressively getting better, and finally getting rid of my hmm's and ahh's. I don't understand how ESL people feel victimized by her here. She was so kind and positive to a student in our class who was nearly unintelligible.

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! YOU NEVER USE IT!(its also free online) Easy quizzes, straight from notes or common sense.She likes to take off for saying "um" or "ah" so avoid those. Cite at least two sources in each speech. Nice lady.

She's a really nice teacher and likes those who talk but even if you don't she won't really bother about it, grade is pretty much based on the speeches and the test. THE TEXTBOOK IS USELESS don't buy it. Definitely reconsider if you don't have a good handle on speaking English which is understandable since it's an oral speech class.

She's wonderful teacher! She's so nice and cracks corny jokes. She makes you feel very comfortable while you're preforming your speech and also gives positive feedback and tips. It's an easy A class. She only gives one test 50 T/F and you only need to get 25 correct to pass with a 100.she speaks very well and her lectures are straight to the point.

Professor Ougourlian's class raised my crummy gpa up. I am so thankful to have had her as a professor. She is incredibly kind and I came prior to her class as someone who loathed public speaking. But as long as you remain calm, cool, collected and loud during presentations you can't do wrong! Be attentive and follow her speech guidelines, EASY A!

She is a great professor, and clear. The quizzes actually count a lot, so do good on those. I loafed off and messed up the last one, which is the reason I got a A- instead of an A. For an 8am summer course she managed to keep me, as well as the rest of the students, awake and interested in the class. There were 4 speeches (including one with a group) a midterm, and thankfully NO final. She is incredibly kind and helpful, always offering constructive criticism. You'd be so lucky if you manage to get her for speech!

The professor is a nice lady, but she is pretty inconsiderate with foreign english speakers. What I mean is she expects and grades you for your voice clarity, disregarding that foreign students do have an accent and can't change it no matter how hard they try. If you have an accent, then expect an A- at best if you can articulate yourself.

I really did not look forward to taking this class but, as a lower freshman it was just thrown onto schedule. She is a great person but, does have flaws as a professor. I'm personally glad I had her for this course. Seems inconsistent yet, i got an 84 on EVERYTHING and i mean it lol

Interesting class and sweet Prof! 3 speeches and 1 group speech. Gives concrete and helpful feedback. In group speech, she gives every person their own grade so not everyone in group gets the same grade. There is only 1 test. Very easy class, so reason you should fail. Don't take any COM1010 class right away if you don't like public speaking.

One of the nicest professors in Baruch College. She's always there for you, and if you're willing to do the bit of work she demands - you'll do fine. Honestly, only lazy people did not get a good grade, and that says it all. Make sure you participate from the start.

Make sure to have well structured presentations. If speaking is not your strongest asset, having a good outline helps a lot. She knows what she's doing, if you prepare well then speaking becomes so much easier and she loves to see the effort. Come to class and be known, then grading is very fair.

She's a GREAT professor. Very nice and a very easy grader. Four total speeches including a group speech but they're all pretty easy. A very small writing assignment and true/false test in between. Also she does not have anything against people with accents. You should definitely take her, you won't regret it.

Best professor I've had all semester. She's such a kind lady, and has a passion for what she does. She makes every single one of her students feel comfortable, and is very clear on what is expected. Have well-structured presentations and be prepared for a group presentation which I actually enjoyed doing. Wish every class was like this one!

This class is pretty easy. She is a great, kind professor. Assignments included 4 speeches, one 2 page written assignment, and one T or F quiz. Keep up with the readings, though, because there is a quiz based on it towards the end of the semester.

Easy A. Just do the work and hide your accent! If you show up every class, save for one time, you get your grade boosted!

This was an easy class. As long as you prep for your speeches, speak clearly, and know what you're talking about, you will do fine. Her feedback is extremely helpful, especially for those who struggle in public speaking. Her test and paper are no big deal, just know what you're doing. ALSO, don't be afraid to ask questions!

One of my favorite professors! Even though I was pretty scared of public speaking, she made it easy and tells you exactly what you need to fix for your next speech! She sometimes even brought snacks to class! I would definitely take her again!

Honestly this professor was a nice lady but played "hard" to get. I may not been a great speaker and her responses to my presentation reflected a bit on me, but she definitely plays "favorites" in the class. One thing I learned from this class is to "dress in sweatpants" during my presentation, earn an A while others get criticized on appearance.

It's a speech course, you're graded off of 4 speeches one of them is a group project and you choose all the topics. She's fair, gives feedback, and is very clear about what she's looking for.

My first communications teacher and I absolutely loved her! She is a fair grader and very nice. She always gives positive feedback and lets you choose all your topics except for the first speech. There are a few quizzes but only 8 questions and they are all true/false, if you get most of the questions right you earn full credit for the quiz.

Professor O is honestly one of the best professors I've had through my entire college experience thus far. She truly cares about her students and as long as you actually put effort into your speech assignments you will get an A. Quizzes are multiple choice as well as the final. started off as a pretty tough grader in the very beginning but became pretty mellow over time. She gave a bit of extra credit, but don't ever ask for it. Was a fun class, that went by really quick and was one of my favorite non major classes. If you respect the class (and her) and put in effort, you will easily get the A. Textbook wasn't required.

Patricia is an amazing and caring teacher. She gives great feedback on your speeches and I've seen so many students improve over the semester. As long as you show up on time, pay attention to her lectures (there weren't a lot of lectures, more speeches from the students), and actually prepare for your speech, you'll do just fine.

One of my fav professors this semester. Presentations in this class really force you to better the way that you speak and Patricia really gives feedback that allows people to create better work. As for grades, presentations are huge and she takes off points for certain things, but she's clear as to what she wants you to improve on.

Professor O. is absolutely amazing and is my favorite professor this semester. She is passionate about her subject and it is evident in her way of teaching. Her lessons are always fun and easy to understand. If you participate in class discussions, it will pay off at the end. I would definitely take her again if she teaches more classes.

Professor O. helps you improve your speaking skills which are necessary in the job world. She follows her syllabus carefully and attendance is mandatory. As long as you go and are willing to present in an enthusiastic manner, you will receive an A.

Prof. O is easily one of the best professors, teachers, and people Ive ever met. She is such a sweet woman who goes above and beyond for her students. Extra points if you volunteer to speak first. If you think this class will be pointless, you are so wrong.

Really nice woman, would always give us candy and nice stuff like that. She takes her class seriously and wants you to improve as a speaker, but she is really lenient with grading and will give you an A if you just show improvement and that you give a damn about the class. I got an A even though I mostly got high 80s on my speeches.

Professor Ougourlian was one of the best profs. I had fear of public speaking and she helped me get rid of it. There were 4 speeches. Just cover whatever she has asked for in the speeches, and you'll do really well. She boosts your grade by a level if your attendance is good.
