Patty was a great teacher for literature. She is funny and very smart, and knows how to teach students well. She also encouraged her students to stretch their minds and analyze the literature we were reading.

Honestly the best teacher in the country. By far the most intelligent teachers I've ever encountered. She is genuinely nice and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Other teachers would be wise to take notes from Dr. Pallis
A very nice teacher! She can be annoying at times when she gets carried away with her analyzation of some book characters, but I enjoyed being in her class. She gives good grades even for average papers. Doesn't pick on those who don't like to be picked o
one of the best teachers ive had
honestly she is one of my two favorite professors here. She is very nice and will go out of her way to help any student. She is very fair. i took 2 out of 3 english classes with her, the one class i didnt take with her i regret.
She was the nicest teacher, I even touck a nother class she taught because she is the best!

She is one of the Best teachers at NVCC. If you have an English Class, then this is the Professor you want.
Love this ladie!
Very nice
Not very interesting. Seems more interested in getting the students to be her friend than in getting them to learn something.
It's not an easy A, but it's a great class. I wish my major had more lit classes! She's a very knowledgeable professor, willing to answer any questions or even give an extension on projects if it's needed. All you need to do is ask.
I can't say enough good things about her. So intelligent. She could teach at Yale, but she's at NVCC! It's always great to learn from someone who truly loves the subject. One of my favorite professors of ALL TIME. I'd take another class with her in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. Always wrote nice comments on my papers! :)
She's the most helpful and very understanding teacher. I love the videos she showed us at class. We have a lot of writing to do. She allows a lot of opportunity for students opinions. I started as a nervous English student, but at the end of the semester, I plan to go on with literature. That's how inspiring she is!
She's the best! At the beginning of the class I could have cared less about literature, but by the end I fell in love with it! I'm taking another class with her, even though it doesn't transfer, just because I enjoyed it so much.
This teacher was a wonderful teacher.. She really helped me improve on my writing and as long as you do your work you will not fail
I took pallis online there was a lot of work needed and she grades tough it's good because she really catches your weakness in writing and gives good comments on what is needed to fix it. She is a good teacher and is not laid back at all.
Took 102 online. Lots of reading and writing, but the readings were very interesting which made the writing enjoyable. Several papers throughout the semester and you have to post comments for each reading. Dr. Pallis was very helpful and extremely fair with the time she gave for tests and papers to be due. Highly recommend for online or on-campus.
excellent professor...
if you want insane amounts of homework, boring readings, awful papers to write, and a rude teacher then your in luck!!
Great teacher, took Eng 102 Online with her, she helped a ton and my writing skills improved 100% after taking her class. Deffinitely recomend to take her, online if possible.
One of the best teachers I've had here at NVCC- Really, really good! Not an easy A, but a really good teacher.
I'm not an english major, but this professor can teach, and if i had to take another english class, i would choose Dr. Pallis. She is so helpful, if you put effort, she gives 200%. You do need the book, but your writing skills and confidence will improve by the end of your semester.
If you take any English classes at NVCC, choose Dr. Pallis as your professor. She is excellent. I was told to choose her and I am glad that I did. Easy to talk to, extremely knowledgeable.
Dr. Pallis is a wonderful teacher extremely nice and caring torwards her students...lots of reading but fairly easy...Great Class
I took a composition class with her online over a winter session. She was very good at getting discussions going and feeding the fire when necessary. Quick to respond to emails, which is important in an online class. Recommended.
I took a literature& composition class with her online over the fall session 2009, with Dr. Pallis. She is a wonderful teacher. Not very easy, but if you do the assigned readings, you will be fine. She is one of the best English teachers. During her class I improved my writting skills. She is very helpful and a great teacher.
Dr Pallis is one of the BEST. I knew nothing going in and I have learned a lot going out. She will help with everything and anything 250%. She gives lots of time for you to do work and not a big quizzer unless you don't read the books and she will find out. I highly recommend this Dr. she is truly the BEST if you want to learn something in English
I took her online class and found it to be fun and educational. She is a great professor.
Just take her class! She is one of the best professors at the college.
Just write. The discussion boards are easy, the papers are reasonable, the tests are easy as well. You'd have to be pretty brain dead to not be able to squeeze an A out of her class. Just do the work. She even helps you research your papers! Assigned readings aren't overwhelming. Her prompts are very thought-provoking.
LOVE HER!! She helps you understand the readings since some are extremely difficult. She puts them in a way that I would never think of. Very interesting class. def recommend.
Professor Pallis is an awesome professor. she makes the class fun and she takes her time explaning the material and works with you to get the best out the class. I definitely recommend taking her class.
I took her for her online Lit and Comp class. She is very helpful! Great class, not easy but I enjoyed it.
Took her Literature online. She is very helpful, and always responds to email. Test are more than fair. There are a few papers, but revisions are allowed, like I said she is more than fair. Have your work completed on time you will get an A, no mystery here. I liked the class.
Dr. Pallis is, in all honesty, one of the best teachers at NVCC. I had her in my first semester, and again this semester. She's a fair grader, very helpful and an all-around pleasant person to talk to. I love Patti! lol. She's a great teacher.
Patti is a good teacher. She gives enough time for each assignment to be done. She is really nice and understanding. The only thing is shes is really boring, i used to yawn at the sight of her doorway. but none of that discredits her wonderful teaching ability
what a wonderful teacher! she really works with you and helps you when needed. If you do your work on time and decent...you will get an A!!
Professor Pallis is my favorite teacher. She really loves what she does. Her mission is to make you succeed no matter what. There are a lot of papers but she is very flexible with deadlines. She reads your paper gives you a grade then lets you revise them. . There are no quizzes or test. But you must read the shorties assigned! Take Her (:
She is an absolute sweetheart. She is extremely reasonable and I would absolutely recommend he. Dr. Pallis was definitely one of my favorite teachers. Take her class!!
She gives out way too much work
Patti Pallis is a wonderful teacher. Very engaging, and dedicated to students. She cares what her students think, and what they want. She expects you to do the reading/assignments but is very fair in allowing time for them. Her tests are not too hard. Her Women's Lit class was actually inspiring to me. I would highly recommend her.
Patti is a great Professor! I enjoyed this class much more than I had anticipated. I personally appreciate her understanding and compassion, and that I was able to have the pleasure of taking this course!
Dr. Pallis was a great teacher. Everything was clear cut and easy to follow along with. I had a personal problem spring up during the semester and she definitely worked with me on the issue. All in all, a great teacher. Take her class if you are pondering it.
Patty is a great teacher. She makes you work for the grade you want. Is completely willing to help and sit down with you also would let me rewrite the papers as much as i wanted to improve my writing. If you don't have strong writing or good structure she will help you. Wonderful person! more then willing to do it over again!
She is a very helpful, wonderful English teacher. She is passionate about the subject, which makes the course more fun. Highly recommend taking her.
I loved this professor so much! She is a great teacher and gives great feedback on papers. When she does give the feedback on your paper, she lets you turn it in again for a better grade. At the time a paper was due I was having family problems and she was very understanding. I was given extra time. Take this teacher
I took english 102 online class it was horrible she was a tough grader I would NOT recommend if you want to spend your money do it with other teacher because this teacher is ridiculous. Probably in classroom she is better but online is too much work i never had an online teacher this bad like her.
This class was online, so I didn't meet Professor Pallis. She was quick responding to emails. Assignments and grading criteria are clearly spelled out. There were 3 papers ( longest was 6-8 pages) nothing too terrible. There majority of the assignments were reading a piece and then analyzing it on the discussion board. Do the work you'll get an A!
She is incredibly helpful and fair in numerous aspects. She grades the assignments quickly and provides great feedback. Because I took her online, communication is of course key. She answered all of my emails and questions on the discussion board within 24 hours. The assignments were fair, and she let us pick our topic often. She is excellent
Too many discussions during the week. Grades her papers in a way that if you need to make a "correction" on your paper, she pretty much wants you to rewrite the whole essay over again to get any points for making the corrections. Overall, she seemed like a nice lady, but her grading is very confusing. Not recommend.
Professor Pallis has to be one of the best English teachers I have ever had. She gives you freedom with your writing! If you show up to every class, participate in the disscussions, keep up with the assignments and readings you will get an A. She wants to help you however she can and is an amazing teacher overall! I took her class for 101 & 102.

English is not my strong suit, but with Professor Pallis teaching it I understand stories more clearly and have gone from getting B-'s to A's. I like the story she assigns, takes notes while talking about the stories in class and it will help you with points when writing your paper. Read the stories she assigns for homework and engage in class
She was absolutely amazing! I had her for English 102 and honestly, she was the best teacher I'd had in college. You can EASILY pass with an A. And I didn't even buy the book, I just looked up all the poems and short stories online. I passed the class with a solid A.
Easy-going but hates when people don't do the readings. There is a lot of writing to be done but she will help out if you ask. Tests are not too hard either.
She is an awesome professor! I enjoyed her class a lot and I'm taking another class with her next semester. Very nice lady and is willing to help students.
Worst winter class I ever had.
Tough grader on everything and expected to do countless essays
Get ready to be tied down to ridiculous hours of works, do not recommend taking her online.
If english is not your best subject, I do not recommend taking this class during summer or winter break because it moves fast, tons of reading and you have to write a number of essays and not to mention she's a tough grader.
She is an amazing teacher! I would highly recommend taking any course she teaches. She is available after class and willing to help students with writing assignments. She is very knowledgeable but down to Earth person. I learned a lot from her... I will miss Dr. Pallis because she is great!
I've taken Prof. Pallis several times now and I'm in love with the way she runs her class. Her lectures are intriguing. She's VERY caring and helpful and extremely passionate about what she does. Her tests are self explanatory, her grading is extremely fair. She's also great at giving feedback and explaining/helping with ANYTHING you ask her.
Dr. Pallis is amazing. She is so caring and wants to do well on this class. She gives you the opportunity to revise your work and is not a tough grader at all. The tests are not very hard as she actually tells you what it is going to be on it. The essays are not that hard and if you go to class they are going to be easier to do.
Shes not a tough grader but keep in mind this was an online course. Hand in your rough drafts! She gives very clear feedback thats needed to improve your paper. Final drafts of papers overwrite the rough draft grades. She responds quickly to emails if you have any questions.
Dr. Pallis is a very understanding and respectful professor. You will ready a lot of poetry and short stories in this class so be ready for weekly discussion boards. Overall, this class is easy to pass if you read through the materials and have proper knowledge of writing papers.
She's awesome. Very lenient grader as long as you try your best! She also responds to emails fast even if you email her at 9pm. So just do the readings, give every assignment your absolute best, don't plagiarize, don't B.S., communicate with her if you need to and you're good.
Great professor! Try your best, don't be lazy, don't plagiarize, and don't cheat using A.I. because you will be caught. If Literature isn't your strongest subject, She is very caring and always provides helpful feedback to help you improve your grade. She is accessible by email and responds quickly.
Dr Pallis was amazing, I took a winter course which was 20 days long and she was phenomenal! I am not an English person whatsoever and she made everything so easy. she gave me many oppurtunities for revision papers and even offered extra credit for the final paper .
Professor Pallis was a phenomenal online professor, I would take her courses again in a heartbeat. Her lessons were engaging, interesting, and she gave great feedback on all work completed. What I liked most about this class is her passion for English and her compassion for her students. Put effort into your work and you'll do great. 10/10!
I loved taking this Online Class! Class was heavy on writing assignments but I enjoyed the readings and the assignments. I would definitely recommend her and her class. AMAZING!
Took this class over the summer online and had a great experience with her teaching. She is very clear about assignments and gives opportunities for revisions on papers
One of the best online professors I've had, actually engaged with you and was very helpful and forgiving.
A lot of reading, but that is obvious with an English course. Took 5 week summer session and managed to get assignments done. She drops a discussion and makes her grading clear in the syllabus. Gives great feedback and allows revisions on papers. Good professor who gives grades as students earn them. Interesting content as well!
Whatever you do, DO NOT take a course with this woman. She overworks students, assigns 6 to 8 weekly discussion posts, and assigns a weekly paper—not an essay, a PAPER! The feedback she gives is extremely vague and unconstructive. If you care about your GPA, avoid this professor's class at all costs.
Prof Pallis is very nice and helpful. She will respond to emails quickly and offer extra help/credit, but the amount of work she assigns is way too much. The homework assignments are extremely redundant and repetitive. Every week, there were discussions due, and the readings for them were extremely long at times. She is also a tough grader.
Professor Pallis is amazing; her class is fun, and she really wants you to learn. I love her class and would 100% take her class again
Gives out a ridiculous amount of work to do for an online class; my other online classes are not this bad. Everything is due in one week, and you can't make up any discussions. I'm a very good student who genuinely doesnt have the time for these discussions because there is like 10 a week. I dont even do this much in other in person English classes
The professor has a lot of criteria for assignments, and there are so many assignments. Hard to keep track. Not a fan of writing papers, and there were 4 for my class.
Composition and Literature II. 3 short stories, Mon and thurs (6 total) with a discussion post and 2 replies to others. 4 poems Mon and thurs (8/week), with a discussion post and 1 reply/poem. ended with 3 dramas, Oedipus (1 Mon/ 1 Thurs),and 2 others. Papers were 2 4-5 page essays, 1 article sum. and 1 6-8 page research.Take with few othr classes
Professor Pallis definitely gives a ton of work, two discussion posts a week and the readings are usually lengthy, and you have to respond in depth to at least two people. BUT if you do this, she grades very easily. Midterm and Final are not that bad as long as you do the reading, she is very nice and always available for questions
This class wasn't that bad and I genuinely learned a lot and significantly improved my writing in the process. THIS CLASS TAKES SO MUCH TIME THOUGH!!!! So many readings and discussion board posts a week, along with 4 papers total. Just take the time to do assignments and you'll get an A, she's not that tough of a grader. She's also very kind
Prof. Pallis's class is organized, and a lot is covered! She gives great feedback, and if you put time into this class, you will do well! There are a lot of readings and discussions, but I found the readings she selected to be mostly enjoyable to study.
The amount of work given in this online class is ridiculous not to mention she was accusatory when it came to AI usage when I in fact did not use it at all. Discussions were due what felt like every other day and the style in which you have to respond to classmates are hard to follow. I will never take this professors class again.
