Pat is a tough teacher. She expects you to come into the class with knowledge of the computer, so don't take this course if you are a beginner unless you learn quickly, and are very confident when using your computer. She gives a very heavy work load.

Had her for Intro to the Internet which was a requirement. When she found out I knew what I was doing, she routinely sent students to me for answers and help even when she wasn't busy. She failed 5 people in my class though for various (stupid) reasons.
she is the least helpful, understanding professor i have had in my life. very unfair lady. they need a better cis 114 professor, someone that actually TEACHES.
My class consisted of 22 students at the beginning of the semester. We ended up with four students, two of whom failed. She is extremely unfair and uncaring. DO NOT take any courses with Pat, you will live to regret it!
This professor is the worst. She does not teach at all and is unfair. Don't know how she got the job or is keeping it.This lady should not be a teacher at all. She should go back to college and take some education course on how to teach the materal. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LADY B/C SHE IS THE WORST!!
Patricia is tough because she doesn't make exceptions to her rules. A lot of my classmates were very upset with her, and at times, I was too. As far as knowing the course material, she knows it, but she isn't very personable. YOU ARE WARMED! This teacher is tough. Take classes at own risk.
She is a very hard and unclear teacher. Your expected to do alot of work while being on a strict time secdule. She is not helpfull at all and is unsure about what she is teaching. Dont take Pat!
i hated this class because of her. she's super strict about homework and she has a bad attitude towards students. i wanted to swtich classes but i didn't have a choice. don't take her; she'll tear you apart
Worst teacher of my life!
Difficult course, but learned a lot about web pages. Take this course!
tuff but good
tough cuorse
Bill Gates would struggle in this course. This was an online course -- Rahmlow wouldn't answer emails is a timely manner, and when she did answer them, she would say to use the book, the answers are in there. If I could of dropped this course I would done it in a second. Started with 18 people in the class, ended up with 8, that says it all to me.
This class ate up all of my free time. Rhamlow was never helpful and she assigned about 12 hrs of homework per week on a good week. Her exams are weird and she has some moto "technical problems are not an execuse" which makes it hard when something actually dose go wrong because you will not get credit. Save your time & money. Don't take her class!
An inordinate, absurd and unrealistic amount of work assigned for an undergraduate class. Might even add sadistic.
A lot of work but learned a lot.
Do NOT take one of her classes! She is a terrible teacher, and acts like its a major problem for her to help you when you need it. She is very condesending, and has no respect for anybody else. She also refues to acknowledge the fact that sometimes computers have tech problems, so you can never catch a break on homework. Waste of time and money!
This is the worst teacher ever. Her teaching style is like drinking from a firehose. She doesn't know what to teach so she tries to cram everything down your throat. You will curse the day you signed up for her class. The only way to stop a bad teacher is to stop taking their classes. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. MCCC must get her out of the school
Tough class. NOt an easy A. You learn a lot but have to do the work.
For being an introductory class to the basics of computers and the programs you use, the assignments are ridiculous. She gives loads of homework every week in every area. Most of it is extremely easy but pointless and its all graded. Everything is submitted online but i found myself doing more work for her class from my macroeconomics class. S
Very picky on unimportant factors of homework. Not understanding, even for first time computer users completing first time homework assignments.
If you've already signed up for her class, you might as well find a pawn shop that sells guns, and kill yourself now. This woman is TERRIBLE. Her course is alright overall, and I learn alot, but with the instructions that she gives, they leave alot in the dark. For example, my last exams instructions were so terrible, they contradicted themselves.

Hard class, 2 of us made it to the final exam. She's an old school programmer and has some trouble dumbing it down for us beginners. I took the class for fun and we got on well. It takes a lot of effort and attention to detail. A little effort goes a long way with her and complaining will get you NOWHERE. Make sure you ask questions even on tests.
Difficult teacher however if you do the homework and SA's on time you will be fine. Dont recommend taking this class if you dont have a lot of time to invest into it.
alot of work, strict attendance policy, poor teaching skills.
tuff course but learned a lot
worst teacher ever. real ****.
she is the worst teacher in America
need to keep up with the work. lota work but good inof
She's terrible. Not helpful at all and any kind of directions were vague. The class was harder then it should have been because of her poor directions.
tuff course a lot of wotrk
I took this class online and this was the first class I ever withdrew from. She's unclear and her grading is completely unfair. It's alot of work but if she taught the class better, it won't be a problem. If you value your GPA, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
a LOT of work but I learned tons - good online course.
After threes weeks of this unfeeling, condescending, nonhelpful, critical, egotistical woman who doesn't have a clue on how to teach with no interst in students, I transferred to another instructor. What a difference. The new one is terrific. Glad I got away from her.
Way too picky with homework assignments, taking points off for things that she didn't warn you about. Her laugh is extremely obnoxious, and look out, she does it often.
Good teacher. homework grades start out kind of low until you figure out what she is looking for and then the class becomes easy. If you do your work and come to class there's no reason you should not pass. Over all a very good teacher and I'd highly recommend

I knew others had to be venting about her somewhere on the web. Unfair grading practices is what really makes me mad. Go ahead take her class, I dare you. I took CIS 114, having programmed HTML in my job for years (got a C barely). Not because I don't know HTML, because she gives a whole new meaning to the word "anal" and "mean."
There should be a prerequisite for attending one of Mrs. Rahmlow's online courses. The homework quantity in this class is more than ALL of my other courses 3 to 1. Do not take her if you don't have to or if you are just a beginner at utilizing Microsoft Office. Hold off on this course until MCCC puts an instructor back into the classroom, not her!
If you have no life and like computers this teacher is for you. The load and her communication level is rediculous. The material is simple but he expectations are absurd.
This professor is horrible!! Very little to no communication. Takes forever to grades assignments. Expectations are ridiculous!! Exam with 6 essay questions and 7 multiple choice with 30 minutes to complete...yeah, sure.
She is the WORST teacher i have ever had. You ask her a question and she takes forever to get back to you or she may not even answer you. The work load was crazy and homework took hours to do. If you are taking this class i would reccommend getting out. Horrible teacher!!!
Prof. Rahmlow was very exacting and specific in her expectations. Very tough grader, and despite being a 4.0 student, I failed her first test. All timed tests, expectations were above me. Unreasonable amount of time spent on work, yet I still didn't live up to her expectations.
GPA killer. Unbelievable amount of work for unsatisfactory grades. Feedback not timely and not very helpful. Will postpone graduation indefinitely if required courses are not taught by someone else.
The timed tests are unrealistic! Especially the final. If you wanted to know what you did wrong on your final, she told you to make an appointment with her in the spring to talk about it. What good is that going to do me? Very critical in her grading. Very short and curt with her email responses. I'm glad I didn't have to meet her in person.
The worst teacher that I have ever encountered. I know more about html then she does. She takes off full points for silly things like spelling and typos. Her homework assignments are absurd. What a ridiculous waste of time.
Disappointed with this class and teacher. I was expecting an interesting professor and what I got was a mediocre and unhelpful one.
hands down, worst teacher I have ever had. She is the most useless woman alive. Not helpful whatsoever, does not specify anything she wants in her assignments, atleast 30 hours a week in homework for an online class!. She is the DEVIL, do not take any class she teaches, she feeds on the failure of unsuspecting students.
Most people rating this professor have said she was useless. I cannot dispute this. The best thing this teacher could do for her students would be to retire. She cannot answer questions and dows not have a fundamental understanding of the concepts she is "Teaching." My advice, take another professor.
Does anyone pass this woman's class? She expects expert level competence after reading a chapter and practicing once. Worst college experience I have ever had (2 masters degrees). Wait until they find a real teacher for this class.
Does not understand students are learners not experienced users, so timed exams are impossible. The number of hours of homework simply fry your brain, you do not learn because too much is expected in too short of time. She may know programming, but knows nothing about learning/teaching. Listen to the other users. DON'T take this "teacher."
When she teaches she just reads from the text book. Then for homework she has you re-read what she read in class and do tons of practices on the software that the class uses. Her tests filled with questions that he hasn't taught or are wrong. For example one of the questions was "why might a business use an LCD screen tv in a conference room? I picked because it can be viewed from all angles. She said it was because it can be mounted on a wall. O lost a lot of points because of these stupid Qs.
What an epic fail of a teacher. The amount of homework was staggering for an undergraduate class. MCCC, please replace this professor with someone who actually knows how to teach.
When asked for help did not hear back until it was too late and responses were very poor quality! Did not appreciate the fact that when help was needed it was not given. This is college, students are gonna be asking for help constantly and the teachers need to be ready to give it immediately. If not they should find another career!
Complete fail of a teacher. She grades you as if you are fully capable of doing this all on your own as if you just finished college for this class. Epic fail, should be replaced. How she is still here is beyond me. Absolutely horrible teacher.
I feel it is my duty to make sure that everyone here knows that this is the worst professor I've ever had. She's mean, talks down to her students. The workload is unbelieveable. It is NOT like this with other profs, so I'm told. Do not take Rahmlow - it's not worth it!
She is the absolute worst professor ever. She expects expert level programs from students who have never programmed before. There is not enough words to describe how horrible of a teacher she is. She gave more work then all my other classes combined. She reads from the book and calls it teaching. Then she has us re read it for homework. Horrible!!!
I found there to be lake of involvement for the prof. There were some comments that students emailed her and got no response for days. Not good when trying to make a deadline for work!
The class itself was really good, but if help was needed she would not respond back ornot help at all and would tell you to look it up. The projects were not all that easy and clear on what to do and she did not help with that either.
inconsiderate to her students and situations they may be under, rude and spoke very disrespect to her students. She wasn't helpful and rude when she did come to your seat for help. Late responding on all emails, and a rude undertone in each one. Notconcerned with her students passing. Gradses horribly so all the work you do amounts to nothing.
Honestly the absolute worst experience in my experience of being a student in my entire life. this womas does not care.....at all. the only class she has turns into a 3 day event, instead of a 1 day class. meaning instead of the class being convenient, it becomes more inconvenient than just traveling to a normal class. DO NOT take this woman
Overall I would not recommend this teacher. Minimal teacher involvement, it was almost totally self-taught from the book, merciless grader and has some of the most poorly written or explain homework I have ever seen. Also the text book she barely used but did have 6 problems from is 9 years old, for a computer class this is a disgrace.
Onln course - Merciless grader endeed! Poor communication - It seems that this professor expects students to have expert knowdlege of this course. Unless you are already knowledgeable of the subject, don't expect to be taught.
Grading was very tough and confusing. Lots of grading with no idea of how the grades were weighted. Not much help in the classroom, might as well take this course online. Nice enough person though.
Horrible. She expects way too much from her students and expects you to know how to do everything without even teaching it. Her tests are impossible. Do not recommend her.
An absolutely horrible teacher, doesn't email back and does not know what is going on on the websites she makes you use. When she does respond she offers no help.
Terrible teacher, I love html and css which keeps me going in the class. Her tests are impossible though, and have nothing to do what your working on as assignments. Do NOT take her class if theres another option.
She is a tough grader! nit picks on every little thing in the hw, gave me an F for an assignment because I turned it at 12:05 AM instead of 11:59 PM, she doesn't help you with homework questions, her answer will be "just read the book". do not take her if you dont have too
AWFUL TEACHER. Probably the worst I have ever had. Never responded on time to emails and the way she graded assignments made no sense at all. Computers in general can be such a simple and easy course to learn, but not when she's the professor.
lease under know circumstances take this instructor , she is horrible I really wished ad listened but I thought maybe the people rating her were just mad and didn't like her but they were right. She does not let you know how you are doing in class no weighted total so you can keep up with your grade , she does not answer e-mail in a timely manner.
This professor is a nightmare. She will find any excuse to mark an assignment zero, does not give good explanations for these zeros, and wouldn't even let us see the details of our final exam grades.
Course was a lot of work but a lot of infomration
Worst teacher ever!! She doesn't let you know how you are doing in the course nor does she care if you fail or not. Was never helpful with anything. She's rude and very inconsiderate. Barely e-mails you. I do not recommend her at all!! She is a horrible teacher! >:(
if you do the work on time you will pass the calss
The most confusing worthless professor I have ever had. I have a bachelor degree from a previous college, and have taken many courses on-line. DO NOT take this course if she is teaching it. You will learn next to nothing & time/effort/money!! She will not explain the directions & WILL give you a 0 if you forget for ANY reason she can think of!!
Teacher was horrible. Computers are such an easy thing to learn, but somehow she managed to make it more complex than it had to be. Rarely ever responded to emails and found a way to take points off of almost anything. I guess I should have taken more notice when I saw that all the other CIS classes were completely booked and hers were still open
She is horrible and does not try to help you. If you email her with a question she repeats the same thing, which is obviously not helpful in the least. Do not bother asking for an appointment during office hours for help as she will ignore those emails. She is by far one of the worst online professors I have ever had and refuse to take her again.
A lot of work but you can get a good grade is you do the work
Worst Professor I have ever had in many years!
The work is doable, but she manages to make it difficult by deducting 10% for small errors and not explaining what they are. She says she only checks her email once a day, and only on weekdays, and she is actually serious. She teaches an online class, but doesn't answer emails on weekends. That's lazy. Google her name, look at her faculty profile.
Extremely unhelpful and unavailable. She admits to only checking email once a day, never on weekends. The grading is unclear and way to harsh (010 for missing 1 step out of 15). Additionally she posted multiple misspelled links that directed me to malware sites, didn't apologize and asked that I send her any more that I found! WTF
I should have checked here before i took this online class. This professor is horrible!!! She is no help what so ever. You might as well call the class teach yourself Microsoft Office. I emailed her three times to ask a question, she answered me, but was snippy. She also takes points off for spell check even though you used it!!! Beware!!!
Unless you have a strong background with using Microsoft and will need no assistance, I would suggest a different teacher. She gives absolutely no instruction, gives you a syllabus less than 2 pages long, and when you ask a question she will answer you, just not the question. I feel I am being fair in saying she's the worst teacher I have ever had
No help will be given unless you ask for it. You need your books and you need to read read read. No prior knowledge of office is needed. Tough grader. Little mistakes will get points taken off. But if you follverything specifically you will be good. Doesnt answer emails on weekends.
The reviews you read before are 100% accurate. I'm not sure how this woman is still employed honestly. She is literally the most useless, unqualified, lazy, spiteful teacher. Incredibly hard on grading. If you miss a tiny part of a discussion, prepare for a 30 out of 100. No mercy here. No room for human/student error. Do not enroll with her!
Her grading is SO inconsistent. Points off for spelling even using spellcheck. Points off for correct HTML code, then when pointed out did not even apologize for her mistake. I got tired of combing through every assignment for her grading errors. She'll knock off a TON of points for very minor typos. It's absolutely absurd. Don't take her classes.
She's really no help. I reached out to her the second week because an assignment was a little vague and she never answered me. Gave me zeros for labeling a file incorrectly... On the second week through the sixth week! I never changed my method of labeling because she never graded the work until the sixth week so I didn't know I was incorrect.
Worst class taken at Montco. Can't use a Mac so what I did learn was not useful. Also has units using programs such as Access which are not easily accessible and makes you lose points. Sets deadlines throughout the week which make it even harder, because you can't do what works for you. Would never recommend.
I had no programming experience before taking this and the course felt very smooth. She's as literal as it gets, as in, use Word 2013, not 2010, or 2016, she won't take anything that isn't exactly how she says it. She's pretty easy to get a response from and is straight-forward. Workload felt pretty light but it's a consistent pace, no breaks.
She will give you a zero for an assignment if you missed even 1 thing in the submission due to unclear instructions. Will punish student who put in the work just because something was amiss.
This was by far the worst class I have EVER taken at MONTCO. She is a horrible teacher. Due dates were wrong , instructions were unclear and when you reach out to her for help she will give you one sentence back or copy and paste the assignment. You miss something on an assignment and you get a zero.
If you end up in a class of hers, do yourself a favor and transfer out. She is a tough and unfair grader. She does not budge, even if the issue was in her instruction. You won't see a grade on an assignment for weeks, yet you will be required to know what is wrong. Pity on you if you continue to make that same mistake before getting that feedback.
I'm only three weeks in, and I already regret my decision to take an online class with her. I wish I had read the reviews prior to enrolling. She is SO unbelievably rude, I can't even believe she is still employed. I thought I was the only one who felt this way, she is so rude and superficial and you can tell by how she emails back. No help.
DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE! Professor Rahmlow was the worst teacher I have ever had. So much work. Expect 5 hour per day! Very rude and unhelpful. Will take 2-3 days to reply to your emails and is incredibly unhelpful when she does. She accidentally graded two A assignments as D's and then blamed another student for it. She made this course horrible!
I wish I had known about this site before I signed up for this class. Other than grading assignments, I am not sure what the professor did all semester. There was no guidance. The time allowance for the weekly quizzes and final was definitely not sufficient.
Of all the classes I've taken so far, this professor was by far the worst. Homework due every other day, points taken off for non-capitalized letters and for spelling errors on discussion board. Even if you attempt the homework and get it wrong, she gives complete zero's. Doesn't take into account that you tried. No help when I asked for it.
Took her online class as my first ever class. Was extremely rigid and refuse to accommodate anything, even with my disability letter. Asked for an extension due to probably going into the hospital, gave me zeros anyway and took 48 hours to respond. Otherwise, courseload was reasonable. But do not take if you have any sort of disabilities!!!
She is tough. You must READ AND UNDERSTAND the syllabus. You need to pay attention to your spelling, and when the due dates are. There is no wiggle room here, you do it right or not at all. That being said, she does know her stuff. It as simple as this: you cannot slack in her class.
She is very literal. Read the syllabus, read her instructions and requirements for the course, and do that EXACTLY! EXACTLY!! DO NOT IMPROVISE!! Do not have some real-world crises that interferes with submission of work by deadline. Submit the work using the specified file name & format. Submissions must be "perfect", else expect BIG deductions.
Horrible professor! Such a stickler on the smallest things - if you get stuck with her, be sure to re-read every instruction or you will lose at least 5% of the assignment grade. Not readily available if you have questions either - be ready to teach yourself almost everything. The book will be your best friend in her class, since she won't be.
-+1000 pages of reading -Time consuming busy work -Little professor involvement -SimNet interface is good. Professor researched and chose well. -Don't take this class accelerated. -Class exists to justify tenured staff's paychecks. -Disappointed to see staff get a paid not to teach. MCCC, please cut the fat in your staff and this course.
Probably the worst teacher I've had this far, and hopefully ever. First class I've ever dropped, does little to nothing, has confusing assignment, and syllabus instructions. Very tough grader, expects an expert out of a new web developer or someone who has never even seen code. The review below turned out to be true I should have listened. AVOID.
Seeing all these comments below makes it clear that getting my refund for this class was the best option.
Lectures are just her reading from textbook Homework tutorials from the textbook No valuable feedback She does not bring anything extra or valuable to the course Grading makes no sense If you get 9 out 10 right on a quiz she'll give you a grade of 20% Take "Intro to Programming" Nanodegree from Udacity better lectures, mentors, advice, and feedback
Worst professor I have ever had, probably worst professor out there. I put at LEAST 15 hours of work into this class per 5-day week & still failed. I cried at LEAST 20 times because of this class & still failed. Everything is out of 100 points, even DB. I want my money back. I spent 3 hours on a SAM path and got a 17%. Would rate -100 if I could.
This professor needs to be checked for her grading, she makes mistakes at times. I absolutely would never ever take a CIS class of hers again.
My advice? Switch to another professor for this class. Too late? Take note: 1. Class is full of busywork which is a waste of time. The computer program should get the $$$ for teaching this class. 2. Not enough time for quizzes and exams (study review Q's!) 3. Professor needs to create her own lecture material instead of delegating it to SimNET
Do the work on time to get a good grade
It's clear this is just a job to her, she has no desire to help students learn. Takes a long time to respond to emails. No guidance and no constructive criticism, all she does is grade assignments. There is a subreddit called MCCCtechMajors, members post resources to help students study ahead for different CIS courses. Take advantage of it!
Teacher won't grade assignments for multiple weeks, so there's no chance to learn and fix. You fail multiple works for the same reason. Unreasonable deductions, any mistake you make will result in a 50% or a 0%. This could be a a single punctuation mistake. Unclear instructions... Do exactly what she says? 10 hrs of work? Maybe a 0%.
My biggest issue with this professor is that she's never "CLEAR" on what is being graded. I maintain a nice B+ for most of the semester. However, the Website and Project Evaluation hit me hard. Another funny thing is that you will loss points if your grammar isn't 100% prefect. I'm sorry I thought this was a tech class, not english comp.
Two different online text books, alternating between them, one is general programming the other is Python, very confusing; way too much homework; long delay before replying to emails or message board posts; not enough clarification or feedback from professor; not enough time for quizzes; required to post on message board; very rigid teaching style.
Do you enjoy confusing projects, strange assignments, redundant discussion board assignments? How about asking a question then waiting until after the deadline to get the wrong answer? If so, this is the class for you. I learned more from Stackoverflow and Reddit than from her actually teaching. Don't be self-hating, pick another professor.
Horrible teacher. Breathes so loudly and lectures horribly in the pre recorded lecture videos that I stopped watching them and just taught myself the lessons. Easy content imo but wouldve been extremely hard if I didnt know any coding beforehand; horrible organization & grading is tough for no apparent reason.
This professor is the worst I've ever had. I don't know why she's still teaching here after reading all of the terrible reviews about her. I would recommend avoiding her classes at all costs.
To start with you use SimNet which is god awful to do work with. When theres a mistake as little as punctuation you can receive a 0% on the assignment. She some how makes discussion board questions worse by requiring you to respond on multiple days and guess what! Theres more but its beyond the 350 character limit. Long story short DONT TAKE CIS155
Gave me the wrong online test. She said I should still know the material being a CS class.
This lady absolutly awful, I would avoid her at all cost. I had an A the whole semester until the end to take my final exam. I got a D as my final grade for the final and dropped my grade all the way to a C. She is terrible to communicate with. It is like she is only getting paid to email you a dumb response if you contact her.
Professor Rahmlow didn't so much teach this class as she did make sure work was completed in SIMnet. As long as you keep up with the SIMnet assignments and weekly quizzes, you'll do fine; but be prepared to teach yourself everything from the textbook or other online resources.
Why is she here if she doesn't teach. Also will give you a zero on a project that you worked hard on for a simple mistake. Why should i spend hundreds for a class when i could just buy the textbook she adds no value.
The only reason she was there was to assign due dates for things and not teach us anything. Everything was taught by ourselves. You could receive a zero on a project for a very small mistake(such as forgetting a single period in a diagram). The textbook was more of a professor than she was.
Do not take her. It is not worth wasting your time on a professor who rarely goes into depth and teaches, but rather just reads us info from slides and tells us to read the textbook. Half of the time I had to use a 3rd party website/help in order to understand what info is being talked about and how I can implement that into lab
Do NOT take a class with Professor Rahmlow. She does not give you an inch. The amount of work expected per week is more than any class you'll ever take with any other professor. She will not allow you to withdraw or extend any due date, even if you're in the hospital. It's more stress than it's worth. Go to another professor or test out with CLEP.
Get ready for superfluous proprietary software and confusing directions. Professor mandates usage of Windows and a lame IDE that some C-list professor prob. developed. I lied and got away with using a Linux distro/emacs/cmdline up until I got fscked by unclear directions in the final project. Do not take if you actually care about computers/coding.
She puts no effort into grading assignments and communicating with students. You missed one important detail? You get a zero. She thinks you didn't post something on time even though you did? You get a zero. Even if you follow everything to the letter, your grade is left up to her whims and emotions. May God help any of you having to take her class.
She's very specific about what she wants, I'll give her that. The problem is that when there is any room for vagueness or need for flexibility, she won't give. At all. Felt like I didn't know what she wanted and if I guessed wrong I'd fail. Crazy amount of work/readings that was unhelpful and took forever to do. Stressed me out. Don't take her.
worst teacher ive ever had
Worst teacher I've ever had. Expect assignments to be posted RANDOMLY throughout the week and expect your discussion grades to be below 50%. If you have them, do not come into the class expecting to pass. Look for a better teacher if possible. I don't even know how she is still a teacher at montco.
What a waste of money all of her courses are wack!
The class is a struggle with unclear instructions and confusing grading. However, unstuckstudy proved to be a helpful resource for study prep and understanding key concepts.
This is a terribly laughable course. Some of the questions on the quizzes are absolutely wrong. I answered a question I believe was right and even confirmed it after I was told it was wrong that my answer was correct. This professor is a joke, you want actual credits that matter with a teacher that cares? Don't go for her.
Professor is arrogant and overly self-important in their field. They exude a snobbish attitude, believing their expertise grants them superiority. They impose unrealistic expectations on students, acting as if their understanding of the subject makes them infallible. Just generally a bad person to have any position of power and authority.
Homework isn't bad. She isn't objectively a bad professor, but she is not worth the stress. Yes, you need to be very exact as a programmer, but compilers will tell you why (x) doesn't work and you can fix it. A professor being exact when you can't redo an assignment teaches you to be paranoid about mistakes. Good with office hours, you'll need it.
DO NOT TAKE FROM RAHMLOW. Her grading rubric is extremely vague. One small error can drop you an entire letter grade. When I would email the teacher she never gave a good explanation as to why she took off points and would just say "you need to be detail oriented." She's not teaching, she's power tripping. Materials outdated. A ton of busy work.
Is she a tough Professor yes she is but I don't see nothing bad from her ratings saying she's terrible yes she is a tough grader but as long you put in the effort in her class then you'll be fine as long you follow her instructions she does email me fast good part about her is she a nice lady overall I did enjoy her class but she is very tough.
Took CIS111B as an accelerated course. She is a tough grader, but very specific about what she wants. I don't understand all the awful ratings tbh, the work load was pretty average for a computer science class. She's not the most helpful if you email her, but as long as you do the reading and keep up with the assignments you'll be fine.
Worst professor I've ever had. She's horrible at responding to emails. You'll ask a question and she'll give bland or VERY little feedback. Lengthy assignments which isn't the issue except, she grades harshly. ESPECIALLY ON DISCUSSION POSTS. Shows no form of sympathy what so ever, no matter the situation. If you take her.....my condolences...
She's a tough grader, knows EXACTLY what she wants, and doesn't do a great job communicating it. The auto-grading software she uses is very specific and doesn't work sometimes. It doesn't matter if you have functioning code; if it's not exactly how she wants it, then the grade is a zero. She responds to email quickly but is dismissive and unhelpful
I took her class nearly a decade ago, and I still am upset with this course. When my family members died, and I shared the obituaries no accommodations were made. I remember going to a funeral and then trying to prepare assignment when facing waves of sadness and stress. This class has lived rent free in my head for so long.
Zero humanity or leniency. Does not care for students and the most minor or mistakes result in complete zeros. Insanity.
Not sure how she's still teaching here. She does more harm than good with these students
God, Just do urself a favor and don't take any of her classes, I've had so many issues its unbelievable.
Course? TOO EASY.EXPERIENCE with PATRICIA? Extremely NEGATIVE! She rarely responded to emails, when she did, her tone dismissive. Feedback VAGUE, instead of addressing concerns, she gave low scores on discussions. The environment felt hostile, unsupportive, and unfair to minority students, raising serious concerns about equity and professionalism.
