extremely entertaining, and a super easy class if you know how to do basic algebra. she's super wacky, but it's a nice break from the everyday routine.

She was an awesome teacher, really helpful and willing to help you after class. She is a little crazy but it makes a boring math class interesting to go.

She's really nice and extremely willing to help when you don't understand something. She tends to scare students away with her "no calculator" rule but it's really not that bad, it tends to benefit you. She's also pretty wacky, she reminds me of Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus!

She's really nice, but ridiculous. She changes everything you ever learned to her own silly terms which just made it harder for me. She goes so slow my baby sister could keep up without trying. If you like slow go for it. It doesn't really matter if you have the calculator or not.

It is such an easy class that attendance should not be required. Having to listen to questions from people who can't understand basic algebra makes you want to tear your hair out. But you can do other work in class. If you are bad in math, she is great. And she is definitely a little crazy.

I had her for math 101 and she was extremely helpful. I am horrible at math and she explains everything so it is very clear and easy to understand. If you suck at math take her she'll help, you dont need to buy the book but you should go to class.

shes a definitely a little wacky, but shes really nice. I think everyone has an aunt or a family friend like her. you tend to laugh at her, but ya gotta love her anyways!

I really liked P. Rua. My biggest gripe has to deal with the stupid online mathXL program, which all math students use at some point. Rua is very organized and it was easy to follow her in class. The tests in math101 are standardized, so she doesn't really control those. I'd recommend her!

Professor Rua is really sweet. She is definitely out there but her class is super easy! Attendance is optional, final is optional, homework is optional...and she gives extra credit sooo you really can't go wrong.

Ms. Rua is the best professor I have ever had. Maybe the best teacher. You seriously need to take her for this class if you want to pass. This may be one of the hardest classes at UM. I am a great student and I failed this class twice. Prof. Rua makes it easy and makes you want to learn. She's wacky but lovable. I loved her and you will too.

TAKE THIS CLASS! i was scared to take a math class because thats one of my weaker subjects, but mrs.rua makes everything so easy! i have an A+ in the class. very helpful teacher & does the weirdest things that will make you laugh. love her & this class .. also doesn't give a ridiculous amount of hw which is nice!

ABSOLUTELY!!She will break all formulas, etc down. Very organized curriculum although she personally might not be lol. Wonderful! Very friendly! Helps out with EVERY TESTS! Review on each test except the 4th one. Just show up to class and you'll want to learn.

I just HAD to comment on how great she is. Not only can she teach incredibly well, but she's a great person. Extremely helpful and quirky. TRULY wants everyone to learn and do well (especially on MathXLs). Also, her e-mails brighten anyone's day. TAKE HER!!

Shes so cute and crazy! She always brings candy. Notes are super clear and very easy when it comes to making up work. She is a great teacher and funny. Tests are challenging but gives quizzes/homework after to get extra points. If you study you can get an A. If she doesnt give back tests within a week, every class after gets you 3 extra points.

Probably the best professor I will ever have. She is an amazing teacher! I'm absolutely terrible at math, but she explains everything so clearly. There was a lot of busy work, but that meant little to no studying was needed. The tests were a lot like the notes and very easy. She's absolutely hilarious and so funny! Definitely take her if you can.

TAKE HER!! She is so sweet & she's a nut case. Yes she has random outbursts but they're funny. If you take her late class she might bring candy & snacks. With that said, she doesn't take disrespect. You actually have to study for the tests & go to class to get an A. Just because she's nice doesn't mean that if you don't work you'll pass the class.

Great teacher! SO charismatic and keeps you awake. She can go fast at times, but it's a great class if you're interested. She loves to make you laugh and makes sure you understand everything. I don't know how people fail this class. Seriously. Totally possible to get 100% on the tests.

Hands down BEST professor ever!!!! I don't think I'll ever have a professor like this ever again. She is super clear when explaining the math problems. I was super scared of taking math because it's my weakest subject. However, she helps out all of her students. After each test she explains it in detail if you have any questions.

CLASS IS REALLY EASY AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS AND DO ONLINE ASSIGNMENT. GIVES CHANCES TO MAKE EXTRA POINTS WITH EXTRA CREDIT WOR BEFORE EACH TEST. TEACHER IS REALLY FUNNY AND LAID BACK.

She was incredible. She really takes the time to explain everything clearly. Make sure to do your online homework when its due (she extends the deadlines sometimes) and do the extra credit before the exams. They really help. Go to class because she gives great notes

Professor Rua is a dream! She's funny, quirky, and makes the class seem like a trip to Disney instead of an actual math class. She explains the topics really well and makes them easy to grasp, no matter how bad you are at math. She's just amazing. Take her!!!!

This teacher is AMAZING. Had her for 101 and made sure I had her again for 113. She's a bit crazy and eccentric, but she is an incredible teacher. Really takes the time to go over everything and make sure you understand. Has a lot of office hours for extra help. Gives partial credit when grading. HIGHLY recommend her!

Very very good teacher, uses unconventional ways to teach that are extremely effective and implements methods that are superior to those of other professors. Class to me at least wasn't a walk in the park like everyone is saying but the averages of her class are always way higher than any other professor's class averages.

Best math teacher I have ever had. Very clear, concise, and helpful. Her tests are like most of the problems she works out in class or of similar difficulty.

Rua is a great professor. She prints out all the notes, gives you the unit circle, and lets you use an index card on the final. The only way you can't be successful in this class is if you don't show up, or if you dint go to her office hours. She's smart and will help you out, you just have to ask for it.

Craziest professor at UM- IN A GOOD WAY! This lady will take you in as her child, no questions asked. Most understanding, forgiving woman on the planet. I SUCK at math and she gives you every resource & push you need to do well. She just wants to see all her students go to med school (her words!) I finally understand pre-cal and calculus! TAKE HER!

100% take her class! Ms. Rua is hilarious so you definitely won't be bored and her tests are easy! The only thing is that her classes are mandatory, but you'll want to go to class.

So nice and SO FUNNY! I actually looked forward to her class everyday because she never failed to make everyone in the class crack up. She was my favorite professor last semester and her class was so easy. Anyone with at least a small background in calculus can get an A in her class easily.

Ms. Rua is absolutely hilarious and very caring and understanding to her students. She teaches in a very steady and effective way and keeps lectures light and enjoyable. She is always available if you need help. You should always feel free to ask questions and she will help you out if you just ask her. She may give you extra time if need be.

No doubt she is a great prof. However, for someone like me who took AP calc in HS, this class was a breeze. Extra credit galore & goes at such a slow pace. If you're between MTH 140 and 161, take 161.

She's really helpful especially in her office hours. Ask questions if you need help, because she does care. Explains everything in thorough detail. She's also very funny and keeps the class entertaining.

THE BEST CALCULUS PROFESSOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI!!! She will do anything and everything she can to teach the material as clearly as she can to ensure that everyone in the room understands AND tells you exactly what you need to know for the test. I absolutely love this teacher! She makes calculus fun and her teaching style makes it so much easier to learn. I love how her tests are literally based on if you studied the problems done in class. She's very fair and you will leave the class really understanding calculus. Did I mention how hilarious she is?

Ms. Rua is the most caring, non-judgmental professor at UM. Even though I struggle to do well in math, I always felt confident in my abilities when taking her class. Even if you fail an exam, she still believes in you and tries her best to help you study for the next exam. She always has casual office hours and is extremely helpful in everything.

RUA ROCKS! She is the most kind-hearted person I know. I always went to her office hours and she helped me so much there! I got her to tell me a few problems that would be on the test! There are 4 tests (50 pts each), lowest grade gets dropped. Final is 100 pts, hmwk is 20 pts. She brings animal crackers every Monday for us, opens w/ music everyday

Ms. Rua is by far the best professor not only in math but any subject matter, ever! She is a true definition of a caring professor. She takes time out of her own schedule to tutor you. She teaches in a form that will grasp your attention and keep you focused. Highly recommend her especially if you have math difficulties.

TAKE RUA IF YOU CAN!!!! I had a horrible experience with Calculus in high school but Rua completely changed my attitude towards it with this class. She explains everything perfectly and I was able to understand the material without depending on memorization. My favorite professor ever!!

Prof. Rua made Calculus fun& Class was always entertaining to go to. It is one of the few classes at UMiami where I felt like all of the classmates ended up interacting with one another by the end of the semester. Rua is smart and dedicated to her students. She puts a lot of time into teaching each topic and doesn't rush or expect prior knowledge.
