fantatic teacher, very clear she makes chemistry look like abc, but you have to listen to understand. i mean follow her every step and you would get it. you won't be lost. and try not to miss class cos its from her lectures you get 85% of the stuff.

She is a very sweet person... i agree with the person before me, she makes her class like abc. she'll love to help you if you had any problem at all.. she curves A LOT, too... take her class, you'll lover her...

Half of the class is nomenclature, which isn't that bad. The last couple of weeks, she assigns a chapter to each student to do a paper and presentation over. It's a real effective way for covering the rest of the book. My class size was smaller so the class was a lot of fun. Excellent teacher.

The best Gen Chem professor at North Lake. She has a fantastic "A, B, C" style of teaching, and is always willing to help a student in or outside of class. Gives fantastic reviews for the tests and makes a tedious subject fun. A+

I took her online class with online lab. We used a lab kit, the textbook, and took tests on campus. She is an excellent instructor. She answers emails fast, and offers some extra points, too. Online chemistry involves lots of reading and lab exercises at home so this class is only for committed students.

Thomson does a neat and acceptable job of covering the course materials. Her tests are very relevant to the subjects covered in class. She does not seem to show a great deal of interest in chemistry however. Overall I rate her as an adequate and average professor.

Definitely one of the best professors!! She is a very energetic person, her lectures are intersting and a lot of fun. Very personable and she tries to make sure the students understand the materials. I think her tests are not as hard as others described. If you do your homework, following the study guide and do the practice test you should be ok.

This teacher is awesome. she explains everything very clearly and will answer any question you have. The test are not so bad, just take noter, attend class, read the book and go over the practice test!! they are very help full also practice the book problems. The online program is a little hard just do it but don't stress to much on those problems.

Took this prof back in 07. She is so energetic and involved and even got us up out of our seats as atoms. I took this professor for Chem 1411, & 1412 fast track and had her for Organic Chem Lab I & II. She is the best science teacher I have ever had. She will go over problems in class, have you do problems, make the class interactive and interesting, make concepts crystal clear using demonstrations and visuals. In short a very high quality prof. This professor is the best at northlake, just took her and got an A; do the prac problems on her website, do the hw, go to class and read your book and there's your A. Tests aren't that hard I got over 100 on majority of them, the last one was tough but it didnt matter b/c all of the extra points; 2 points for going to class everyday so take her!

Professor Thompson is amazing! Even if you are not interested in chem, she will win you over. I just completed 1412 with another instructor and I would have given anything to have had Prof Thompson. Complete the homework, attend class, review learning objectives and you will do well. She is SO personable. Take her for every class you can!

Mrs. Thompson is the BEST science professor I have ever had. I go to a University and took this class during maymester. She made chemistry fun; however, it was intense and you definitely have to study. Take good notes, do all the learning objectives and problem sets. She gives many opportunities for extra credit. Took her for fast-track CHEM 1411/1412 and really liked her. She's funny and makes great powerpoint's for lectures. Best part is that you get 2pts added to final grade if you show up every day. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK and you'll be good, that's the basis for her exams.

If you do hw, attend regularly, and do the problem sets EVERY TIME you should get an A with moderate effort.

I struggled in Chem I with another professor. I took her class for Chem II and made straight A's on the exams! She is amazing in the way she explains the concepts! I didn't struggle at all. HIGHLY recommended!

Super awesome professor. Easily the best CHEM II professor in the DCCCD. Show up every day and you will do great in the class. Lab grades are super important so do not slick on those. Mrs. Thompson is willing to help you 100% of the time if you ask.

Took the online course in summer. Summer courses are very difficult and busy with the short time frame. However, her course was excellent! LOVED the organization and the clarity. She is helpful and works to make the online course doable. i am definitely taking her for the chem 1412 on campus!

Work hard to get an A. Lots of homework, but labs are fun. Labpaq is like $240 dollars. This class is doable, I currently have a B but she replaces your lowest grade with an optional final. I would recommend taking her in class if you want an A, according to other reviews.

I took the fast track chemistry, which was 2 semesters compressed into one. It definitely is hard, but the professor attempts to explain every concept clearly and answer all questions. Doing the homework really helps with the test content.

Took her 1411 before this course. Amazing professor, she loves chemistry and loves to teach it. Difficult subject matter, but show up, participate, do your work and this class will not be too hard, very useful lectures. Only students who did bad didn't care or had problems making it to lecture. Difficult tests, but her study guides really help.

She is a great teacher and is very enthused about chemistry. Attending class is where extra credit comes from. IF you show up the entire semester, you receive points on final grade at the end of semester. Sometimes when you ask her questions she may seem slightly irritated. Overall, great teacher. I took this class online and it was fairly straight forward. Labs were pretty simple as long as you followed directions. I found her lectures on youtube and those helped out A LOT! She is really good at helping you understand. Tests were tough for particular subjects but reading the book helped, had to do lots of self teaching but i managed a B+.

She has definitely affected my passion for chemistry, a subject that I didn't like earlier. She not only taught the course thoroughly, but also connected it to real world situations. This professor has is always available to help, and provides sufficient opportunities to keep your good, but you still have to give your full effort.

I have to say it. She is one of the best professors in NLC. Literally she gives you all the tools to pass her class. You want an A? Read the chapter before class, print the powerpoints and write down what she says, write down all the exercises in class, do the sample exercises in the book, do homework, study what's in the learning objectives.

Took the class online. Multiple ways to learn the material. Chapter topics are great lecture aids as well as her posted online lectures. Lot of homework, but good practice along with practice problem sets. The class is very straightforward and if you work regularly, you can be successful. I took this class online for Summer 1. Hardest class I've ever taken but it's Chemistry, so I expected nothing less. Mrs. Thompson is VERY helpful and has several resources to help you out. The material did get very overwhelming because there was so much to learn. And there was SO much homework. But, she did give extra credit on tests.

During the Maymester it was an INTENSE 3 weeks of 3-4 homeworks per day and labs everyday and 2 exams per week. This professor was good at explaining. However, she is very arrogant and when I would ask her questions she would answer them like I was stupid. Other students noticed how she treated me, too. :/ She treats you like you're dumb overall.

I took this class in Maymester and found her to be an excellent instructor. Very thorough in her explanations. She was extremely patient in answering questions!! She is very kind and helpful. Maymester is not for everyone and can be too hard for some people who then look to blame the instructor.

I took this class online. I have taken other online classes and this is one of the most organized classes i have had. It is clearly laid out. Do pay attention to the information in the syllabus. The lecture videos are long but very helpful. You do have to study regularly as chemistry is not an easy class.

Good online class with plenty of helpful resources. Labs are straightforward to complete. With labs and homework counting 45% of your grade, it helps bring up your test grades. Much better than classes that count mostly your test grades. Extra credit on the exams also along with extra credit on the homework too. Lots of chances to succeed.

She has a great teaching style. Very enthusiastic! She explains concepts well and her enthusiasm made me more excited about chemistry. Chemistry is work so you need a good instructor and she is the one to take.

Well organized online class. Use the online tutor as is helpful. Many ways to connect with the tutor with chat, discussion board, email. Also the instructor gives great feedback. Chemistry is a tough class, but this online class is very doable. Especially with extra credit on homework as well as all exams. And you can replace your lowest test.

This online class is designed very well! She provides you with slides ("topics") that are a condensed version of the chapters and highlights the information you need to know from each chapter. She includes videos of most lectures. You will be doing actual labs at home. Be prepared to dedicate PLENTY of time if you take this in a summer term!

Well organized class. There are many resources, topics, lecture videos, practice problems and learning objectives which are like important test reviews. I would suggest you use all the resources. Don't just pick one thing cause each is useful. Do the work, use the resources and you can get an A. Good class!

Took it online. I take a lot of classes online and this is one of the best organized and straight forward ones. Being online be sure to stay up on the work. I didn't really use Learning Objectives until the third test. I wished I had figured that out on test 1. I did much better on the remaining tests. Excellent professor feedback if you ask.

Excellent!! Highly recommended! Be sure to come to class and write down what she is saying on the power points. The power points are more of an outline so it works to fill it in. She does a very good job at trying to explain the material clearly and be sure everyone gets it.

I was nervous about taking an online chemistry course, but Ms. Thompson was great! Her lecture notes are the best: concise and clear; no textbook needed. She responded quickly to questions (email). The homework helped with learning the material, and labs at home were easy to understand. If you take the course seriously, you'll do great.

I don't normally write in here but she is amazing. Good study plan and good grader but above all she cares about her students you will be suprised by first week she will know your name talk to you . Any if you planning to take chemistry go with her.

In the 2nd 8week CHEM 1411 she was clear with grading and there was never a question on the exams that weren't at least mentioned in the class. There were parts of chapters that you were expected to read on your own before lecture because it was an 8 week course. Would definitely recommend.

I had a hard time in the beginning but after she gave me some feedback and told me to use the Learning Objectives as a study guide I passed every test after that! The homework was on MML and was easy. Labs at home were also very easy and she provides detailed steps to do them at home. I definitely recommend her!

Phenomenal teacher. You get what you put into anything in life. The course was cumbersome in a short time frame however, the lecture material and the lab material made chemistry digestible and applicable to everyday life. At home, labs take quite a bit of time but all labs do so plan wisely. She will inspire people and drive people to success.

Professor Patricia is amazing. Vey clear syllabus and easy homework. Professor Thompson sent out reminder for all assignments. She was very nice, inspirational, and compassionate to all of us.

She is very helpful and this course is pretty well organized. I took it in 8 weeks, which meant a lot of work, but it was manageable. The lecture notes and videos were extremely helpful and clear (although the syllabus is terribly long a little confusing). For a tougher course like this, she does a great job and would highly recommend.

I enjoyed this class. I took it in 4 weeks, which is a little crazy, but it was a whirlwind of chemistry. The tests were moderately difficult, but not hard. I only wished that she gave specific feedback when she deducts points from labs. Students are just left to guess what they need to improve on.

This class is very difficult in 8 weeks but well organized. She is very caring and gives amazing feedback. Test are hard, textbook assignments are extremely time consuming, labs are long. You must know the material, lots of math . Lock down browser on test with camera, no camera on quizzes, 5 multi step problems w/9 min ! Drops lowest for final.

Overall pretty good. Not very communicative when there were issues with Mastering Chemistry and seemed reluctant to give us extensions due to systems being down. If you do all the homework and labs you'll do fine. The exams are all multiple choice so that helps too.

She is so nice and wants her students to do great. She's willing to meet students for help after class. Tests are easy if you study and understand the infomation. I would take her again!

She uses Lockdown browser with webcam on all exams, webcam off for quizzes. HW is time consuming but simple & easy if you use the internet. Exams much easier than HW. Easy labs. Extra credit built into each Exam and HW. Her notes are great -- you dont even need to read the textbook. Makes the class straightforward and simple, great choice overall.

I don't like science, but she was a fantastic teacher and made me understand chemistry. There will be a 5-question quiz before every lab, and if you read the lab, you will get a 100 on the quiz. She always gives extra credit on homework and tests. If you do homework and study, you can easily pass this class. You do have to print the PowerPoint.

Everything you need to get an A in her class she provides, no other external resources needed but wouldn't hurt. Labs are fun and straightforward, exams are exactly what you learn in class, and mastering chemistry used as HW which is more difficult than the exams, which in turn prepares you even further. 11/10, and currently taking her 1412 class.
