Prepare to work - but you will learn.
Lacks a commanding personality and big voice. Extremely difficult to follow along for a lengthy period of time.
Although Dr. Alexander is good in her field she does not have good people skills and is very dry in how she teaches. Do not expect to find her in her office very often and her exams are extremely hard.
Most boring person on the face of the earth. You can tell she could care less about students. Never available in her office and if you do get her, she will pretend yoou don't really exist. Doesn't treat students like real people, she seems to think she
I don't understand why there have been bad reviews for Trish Alexander. If you get the work done, and are committed to the course at hand, the tests will take care of themselves. I got a B in this class, and Alexander is one good instructor. Recommended.
Bad teacher all together.
She was so horrible, I changed my major away from Psychology. She writes her on books and doesn't have one drop of excitment in her lectures. The tests are hard and she doesn't truly care if you understand the material. But all around..DRY!!BORING!!
The class was somewhat easy... It was just a matter of application- to my experience she was a very understanding professor, and I would personally reccommend taking the class
She very nice and has a nice grade curve

NO KIND OF ENTHUSIASM! her lectures aren't lively! she speaks LOW too! HARD to stay awake in that class! I ADVISE YOU TO CHOOSE AN ALTERNATIVE!
SHE IS A HORROR FOR A TEACHER, HER EXTRA POINTS ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR THE PROJECTS THAT SHE HAS FOR YOU TO DO. SHE DOES NOT KEEP HER WORD, AND WILL SAY ONE THING THEN SAY ANOTHER. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HER. SHE SHOULD REWRITE THE BOOK SHE WROTE FOR PHYSCH 4 IT NEEDS TO MAKE SENSE 2 STUDENTS. BANNED THE BOOK, SHE NEEDS ADDITIONAL TRAINING!!
Ok, she's bit mono-toned and can get verrrrry boring to listen to, but her class isn't very difficult. She posts exam questions on her website. If you stay awake, you can pass.
She told our class the problem with the overall grades was the size of the room. On the first day of class most of the students were in the front of the room and by the last most had moved to the back. Slackers? No just uninspired. She has no confidence in her students. She read half the lectures from her overhead projections word for word.
Awesome class. I liked it a lot.
all you need to do is make an effort to pass her class and it will be easy. find her and talk to her about anything. she can be a little boring but she trys to be funny most people just dont get her jokes
Boring, and lots of extra projects. No lecture, only discussions. Take it just because of the units for transferring. Do show up in class, and do all the homeworks for extra points, you will get an very easy A or B. Selling almost new textbook [email protected]

Bad teacher, not as poor in quality as myspace, which just deleted my whole comment for some unknown reason.

She tends to go off subject with anecdotes, either that or she never stops talking. Then some of the work she has the class do is very remedial and I couldn't sell her damn book back!
positive qualities the teacher had... I cant think of any. I know of other people who have changed their major from psych in the middle of taking this class.

One of the most professional, congenial, and efficient professors at LBCC. Probably my favorite alongside Lynda Gordon (Anatomy). She lets you bring CHEAT SHEETS to every test! There's only one paper you have to write and you've got all semester to write it. Lectures are entertaining and correspond with the text, which is not extensive at all. -Patrick
I didn't find her boring, or difficult in the least. I ran into her couple of times out of class, in the cafeteria and she always said hello to me by name, her tests are not hard, and I don't recall having to study all that hard either. The paper was a breeze and I actually had fun with it. The biggest problem with the class was that this girl in the front row would not shut up all class period.
I GOT A D IN HER CLASS. BUT ITS WAS COOL. SHE IS A NICE TEACHER BUT SOMETIMES DIGRESS...
Well...i LOVE psychology..and always have..but to me..she wasnt the greatest of teachers..she tested on her examples...she never gave an overview of what were going to be on the test but would give a wide range of topics to read about. I do understand that this was an intro to psych class so she is required to give an overview of psychology..and cover a LOT in a short time..but the class was pretty dull and learned a little but not as much as i had planned.

she is a very easy teacher. tests are straight-forward (get to use notes for the test). lectures are a bit dull but teh class does not need alot of studying. alot of material is covered. she is very nice and helpful.
This is the best instructor that one can take for anatomy. Let me tell you that this class is super hard. one cannot leave this for the last night neverrrrrr. She very helpful as well as lectures. 100 percent follows outlines. Tests are hard but if one studies hard and three hours every day and do the objectives, it can result in a A. There is a lo

An instructor with many years of experience as a psychologist who then began teaching. The professor makes every effort to use class time efficiently (and interesting), & also asks questions regarding covered class info. at beginning of class to help students retain learned information. Extra credit opportunities are avail. Notes allowed for exams.
This class is no joke. As long as you get all the labs in on time and complete you have a run for the money.
This is a great class to learn what it is a psych major will be doing essentially for the rest of his or her career. Prof. Alexander is a great teacher and is clear on all topics presented. The final research project is actually the best part of the class. A great class for anyone interested in psychology.
She knows her stuff, but that does not make her a good teacher. very 'textbook' if you will. lectures from powerpoints that you can never fully copy so you have to photocopy everything from the librairy reserves. not the best at LBCC, but i guess if your a psychology freak you would be able to bear the class.
NOT STONER FRIENDLY. A LOT OF WORK + PROJECTS - YOU GET A SHEET FOR THE TESTS HOWEVER THAT YOU CAN PUT ALL YOUR NOTES ON.. TIP: TYPE REALLY REALLY SMALL FOR THAT SHEET
good teacher. a lot of powerpoints that she sometimes puts in the reserve box at the library for reference. exams on the scantron (multiple choice) and only 1 5-page paper. I got an A. pretty great for a summer class. her experiences w/ psych patients provide good stories. recommended. :)
Normal everyday run of the mill class. Not good, not bad.
First of all, I can never even hear half of the stuff she's saying because she's so quiet and boring. Second, she covers too many chapters for tests. Third, along with a research paper, and tests, she makes you do about 12 lab assignments which aren't easy. I thought about changing my major after taking this class.
NOT RECCOMENDED! The class is easy, but don't put yourself through it. KNows her stuff, but bad teacher. Hour and a hlaf of slides-which she goes through way too quickly to write everything down. Got an A, but wish I had taken Melucci or someone else. Still don't know anything about Psych. DON't take her.
First and foremost, run from this teacher. It is very hard for me to believe she is even had any experience in psychology. She has no people skills at all, and her teaching technics are the worst I have seen in years. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN 100% in this class, and when you ask for help it wont be given in a friendly manner.
I think the ppl making the mean commetns are the ones that didnt pass the class. It's true she is not the most interesting but lets you know what she expects and provides the tools necessary to be successful in her class. Not an easy class at all but has an outline and follows it religiously.
P. Alexander is one of the best psychology teachers I have ever had! She makes class very enjoyable even though lectures are primarily power point. The Tests are easy if you just know your material! Easy A if you like psychology =)
Be open and participate in class discussions and do the projects. Exams were fair but you had better taken good notes and read the text and than studied your notes from lecture and text to do well on exams
She is very Boring, she uses overheads and they are pointless, the group assignments are fun, but overall the class requires too much of the student and not enough from the teacher
Not a bad class, i actually enjoyed showing up to this one, but i am intriqued with psychology. She is a decently tough prof. for a lot of students though.
This class was an amazing summer course. The honors option was an exciting project and the exams were so much fun. Professor Alexander is precise and succinct. She has rather interesting stories about her clients relating to material discussed in class. However, I wish the class were more thought=provoking.
class was boring!! teacher was boring! her lecturs were useless....just read from the book take notes on vocab and experiments...her study guide suck was ok...really boring! she's an okay teacher pretty nice...but by the end of the semester people were dropping like flys! i was one of the tope students and i still only got a B
She really knows her subject matter. She's tough but fair.

class was hard
Do not take her. She goes off of the powerpoint so it was useless to even attend her meeting and she speaks with a very soft voice so you can hardly hear her. Not very imformative and I am a psych major. Definetly need the book and her powerpoint notes to pass the class.
SHE IS BORING, ONE SIDED AND SHE ALWAYS TALKS ABOUT WHATS IN HER LIFE SO WHAT!!
Very self-centered and impressed with her accomplishments. Dosen't want older students in her class room. If you missed out after high school, she says, Don't Bother. Very boring, uses power point. I dropped class.
well at first i thought her class was going to be fun, but then she started to teach an man was she boring. she speaks so soft and she uses power points which sho goes over fast and does not give you enough time to write any thing down. so if you take her you will need all the books because you will be teaching your self. and test are very hard.
She was soo boring! It was already enough of a drag to wake up in the (morning) summertime to take her class. She spoke so soft, no one could really hear her. I sat in the middle, towards the front of the room and I still couldn't hear her. I ended up dropping her class after 2 weeks because I couldn't take it anymore. What a waste. Tests are hard.
This is my first time rating a teacher, and I'm only doing it because SHE IS AN EXTREMELY BAD TEACHER. Mainly I believe she doesnt really care about her job. She has her tenure so thats all she needs. Unfortunately she is the only one teaching research methods, which is very unfair. Prof Alexander I hope you see this AND START TRYING TO TEACH. :(
took her class over summer 2008. was a little boring, i fell asleep a few days but she didnt say anything. she lectures the whole time, with pwr point but if u get the powerpoint slides ($10) you dont need to take ANY notes. i was interested in the subject so i read (basically) the whole text book which helped on tests(mul. choice btw)
Alexander is a solid professor who has a wealth of experience, a sharp analytical mind, and really cares. I found her lecture style boring, but I learned
Good professor but hard. Very confusing tests, multiple choice but it seems like every question is a trick question.
OMG!!! By far the worst teacher I have ever had. She mumbles, flickers the lights off and on to get everyone attention, makes you buy her lectures She also is a very difficult grader and a rude individual. I have never disliked a professor so much. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS TAKE IT ONCE YOU TRANSFER!!
VERY INCOMPETENT. CAN'T HEAR A WORD SHE SAID. WORST TEACHER EVER. DO NOT TAKE HER, TAKE IT AT OTHER COLLEGE IF YOU NEED IT TO TRANSFER TO UNIVERSITY
she is a very sweet lady. although she did not like me (we had a personality clash) she was understanding and helped me get credit for her class. her class is easy and her grading is fair. i recomend her for a psychology class. shes a good lady
The first half of the semester, i was so scared of her and thought she hated me. She is a hard grader. In the end, I learned SO MUCH from her. It is dificult, but its material you really need to understand. She is very structured, and fair. Its alot of work, but this is college, get used to it. Plus she gives a numer of extra credit opportunities.
Very sweet lady. HOWEVER! this class is ridiculous. I do NOT recommend taking this class AT ALL. The text book she uses is pointless. She doesn't teach out of her own book that SHE wrote. that means you cant study out of the book. "suggested study questions" she gives... no where in the book or her lectures. Take another class. Don't take her.
Yo yo yo, these guys do not know what's up. Sure, Dr. Alexander might not be the loudest or most energetic teacher. But she is one of the most enthusiastic teachers when it comes to helping students. Take her, study, and feel enlightened. Bosses here.
Dr. Alexander is quite audible. If you read the textbook and go over the slides in the powerpoint packet she offers just once, an A on each test is within reasonable reach. This is one of those classes that help you determine if you've chosen the right major. It's not supposed to be easy and if you finish the course, you will feel inspired. Mac
Mrs.Alexander is a great teacher. Grades is this class are based on 4 Tests an interview paper and 4 assignments which are like case studies that you have to diagnose. Easy class if you study! If you do not like to study, College is not for you! Alexander is a really nice lady and will help you if you need it...stop with the bad comments slackers!
Had her twice. I had no problem hearing her despite the amount of people talking and always sitting in the back. Lectures are predictable, as she only goes by her slides that you can purchase at the bookstore. Lectures could get a bit boring and she's montone. But overall, easy class if you do the assignments and read her slides at least once
She's knowledgeable about the subject but!!!!! She's a horrible professor outside her classroom. She doesn't respond to emails or fone calls and doesnt try to help u, even if u go to her office hrs. She's rude when it comes to answering ur questions outside the class...
Doctor Alexander is definitely a good teacher, she truly loves and knows what she teaches. Lectures are taught through powerpoint slides and 15 minute case study videos. If you miss a day, just read the slides and you'll see what you missed. Great class. btw, she's not monotone, i found her very amusing.
Great class! Very valuable information.
She a nice person, but a horrific teacher. She expects you to understand everything the first time, spends FAR too much time on examples and not enough time conveying concepts. And - though I expected a lot to be asked of me as a student - her labs demand a lot of the people you know who may or may not be in the class.
awful. lectures, homework, & class activities dont prepare u at all for the 3 exams. the exams consists of questions u will only kno if u read Every single word in the book. gives elementary style projects, but grades extremely meticulously on them. im an A student, but received my first C in a while. moral of the story, dont take her.
nice person, but horrific teacher. Doesn't cover all concepts thoroughly. spends way too much time talking about irrelevant concepts and not enough on what is on the exams.
Ms.Alexander is a very sweet lady, she cares about her students and takes the initiative to help those in need. Even though she goes through the material really fast, as a student it is our responsibility to take the time to study in and out of class. This is a 16 week course and there's A LOT to learn. In order to pass you need to apply yourself.
she was so incredibly confusing.. when we review for the exam, she's asking for some specific answer, but we don't know what-but at the same time, we do? just study from the textbook and you'll be fine
This woman was totally self-righteous. The class became interesting when there were group exercises, other than the social aspect this class wasn't very useful. I hope Professor Alexander works things out with her oldest daughter also, there is prevalent underlying hurt and aggression.
Prof Alexander was one of the worst professors i've ever had. (Honors Student with a continuing 4.0-not bragging, just setting tone, not a lazy student). The lectures are some what interesting an engaging, however the exams are ridiculously obscure. 2nd Exam gave me hope, 3rd Exam crushed all hopes. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS OR THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!
Teaches straight from the power points. Don't buy the textbook. Can get boring, but you can pass just choose a simple research project and read over the power points. Exams are on applying the concepts.
Regret taking this class with her she makes it hard to want to show up to class , she is extremely rude and not interested in helping the students ,when asking her help she makes you help yourself . Avoid asking her questions she will only answer sarcastically or rush it even during her office hr. My advice is show up to class but teach yourself .
Her Psych 4 class is unlike her Psych 2 class. It's a lot less serious and more relaxed and on a personal level. You learn a lot about yourself in this course, and you begin to empathize with all your classmates after hearing about their lives. Dr. Alexander will empathize with you as well. Don't slack off, study, do your work, you'll get an A.
I took her for my abnormal psychology & her notes are lengthy and she requires you to buy her notes and her notes are over $20 & I didn't buy her notes & ended up passing her class.she is not a people person and does not reply to student emails. Would only take her again as a last resort.
I am a Psychology major and this was the absolute worst time i had in a class! The concepts were cool but her teaching was terrible I had no idea what she was talking about half the time. I'm the kind of student who needs a teacher to engage in what they are talking about not just go through the motions. Dont take this class for an easy A
I thought Dr. Alexander was great. A lot of the material was review for me, I could see why people learning it for the first time might struggle because she really doesn't lecture much. Mostly group activities and it's fun to get to know your classmates. For tests, I just crammed what was in the chapter summaries and have pulled A's on tests
Do not take her! She always read from her ppt. She keeps mumbling about something unclear during lecture as well as complain about out of the box topics. She sometimes ignored you and showed no interests in what you are asking. 4 tests, 1 final, 1 project, no extra credit. If you don't do good in one single test, you are surely fail the class!
I usually average high B's to A's. Not with Alexander. Lectures were uninteresting and sometimes lasted beyond the class time. If you want the slide notes in a book, you must buy it from the book store. Note it is missing a lot of slides, is difficult to read, and in the wrong order, so taking notes as she's lecturing is a pain.
I thought Dr. Alexander was a really great teacher. The class was long and the lectures sometimes felt drawn out, but I learned a lot. She's not a very tough grader- if you at least attempt an assignment you'll get at least partial credit. Tests are a bit of a challenge. Book is definitely not necessary. Just read her notes. Overall, great class.
I read the chapters but received no clarity from the professor. I did great on the assignments, two papers, but withdrew before the final assignment. I tried to speak with her after class on a few occasions for help and she looked at me like I was an alien speaking nonsense. Be prepared to teach yourself without help. Horrible blan lectures.
worst teacher i ever had in my life. shes so mean for no reason. shes too busy being a butt hole to her students. if you are serious about psych and love to research then this is a class for you. she will put you to work. test are hard. i don't think anyone in my class got an A in the class. she does not check her email and will tell you so.
Long lectures, all you really need is the ppt book because it's solely based on it. Her voice is very monotone, it was hard for me to stay awake. When she talks, sometimes I don't know if she's lecturing or going off topic. She doesn't elaborate very well so if you space off for even a second you'll be lost. Not bad, but not good as well.
Worst class I've taken. Her lectures are long and boring. She is not clear and does not like answering questions. Exams are 80 questions long and very hard. Would not recommend her class to anyone
Her class is not difficult due to the fact she gives 45 extra credit points. She gives projects that are easy. However her exams can be quite difficult if you do not have a background in psychology. You must read the book in order to pass the exams. Lectures do not really help unless you read the books. Labs are sometimes fun and sometimes lame.
Only 3 tests given throughout the semester, and they were heavy! Each consisted of about 6 chapters each. The best way to pass is: do all the extra credit possible (there is not much), read ahead of lectures, participate during lecture, and ask questions. Lectures are heavy but if you have read ahead and participate during class you should be fine
I really enjoyed this Professor Alexander's lectures. Her knowledge on the subject of psychology is exemplary.
I took Professor Alexander for Psych 4, a couple of projects, super easy though. No papers. Tests consist of 80 questions, too long and material on exams didn't match up with the power points she showed. She offers extra credit 30 points total so take advantage of that!
I really enjoyed this class. Attendance is not mandatory but the lectures are intriguing. This professor's personality is interesting in a good way and she is very knowledgeable. The textbook isn't used very often but I would recommend knowing the definitions and maybe borrowing it from a friend occasionally.
