Always hyper, Very pleasent and always goes out of her way to help students
Awesome professor! She provides you with tons of information to help you understand the lessons. Wonderful, funny, and encouraging, you'll definitely have fun while learning if you take her world lit course.
GREAT teacher! She really loves the class and it shows! I learned alot! She makes English easy!

Her assignments are easy, and class is fast and fun. She likes controversial writings, and wants you to think like her. I would recommend her for sure. Just try to keep your own opinions.
Great teacher! Sometimes talkes too fast though
Assignments are so easy. She is very opinionated, though, so keep a cool head! Basically, if you want to be able to take an English class, but don't want to work too hard, this is the professor to take it from.
She is a very good teacher. very easy class, keep a opened mind in the class you may learn something.
Great teacher, always has interesting classes, and makes you like the subject.
Great teacher! One of the reasons that I became an English major was because her classes made studying the material so enjoyable! Take her!
Her World Lit. class is really enjoyable. Her quizzes can be a bit tough sometimes, but paying attention to the reading is a breeze since the literature that she chooses are very interesting..so you'll do fine if you READ. Very nice and helpful. You REALLY LEARN.
Great professor
She has got to be the reason why I started writing again. She let us write on any topic and that helped a lot. And the best part of the class was that there were only like 15 of us in the class and she took the time to know each of us. Yeah she was hyper, but let me tell you, it's better than the monotone professors we all know. Great job!
Enjoyable class.
Great teacher. Very passionate about what she does. Makes class enjoyable and interesting. Work is decent and quizzes are pretty easy. You dont have to work TOO HARD, but if you put in SOME effort, you'll get an A. Take her class.
AWESOME!!! One of the most stimulating teachers. Gives a lot of quizes, no finals or midterms. The material selected is awesome and she is truly dedicated to her students.
Great teacher! Most of her quizzes are 10 questions multiple choice some include fill-in the blank but very few. Watch out for the trick questions and must read all material to pass quizzes. It’s a fun class! No difficult to get a good grade.
basically she's one of the best teachers i've had in a long time...she made the transition from HS to college a lot easier than i figured it would be...unfortunately im at another campus this semester but hopefully i'll go back 2nd semester

Patricia is truly someone to know. If you have not taken your English courses, please take her. She truly taught me a lot of principles about life as they related to Greek mythology... Very interesting topics. I now have such a passion for writing. I loved her feedback and honesty. She helped me to grow so much. I will never forget her.... seriousl
Inspiring! SHE IS THE TRUE DEFINITION OF DRIVEN!I mean she motivates you as a listener to actually be the speaker in your papers. Make the words come off the papers as the reader reads it. I felt so intuned to the literature. I re-read my papers to this day for inspiration in writing. Highly impacted my writing style.
She makes the class interesting. I hate mythology and this class has a lot of that. She made the topic understandable and not as boring.
Great Teacher. I would recomend her to everyone
I took her for eng 102 and world literature . eng 102 yes it was alot of mythology but world literature barely had it. she was just as passionate about the subject in world literature compared to eng 102.her lectures are easy to understand
She has an impressive understanding of art but it is not indimidating. She does not look down on you if you do not see the symbolism; she wants to help you find it. She has a passion for the subject and does an amazing job of passing it on. The class is easy because it is so fun and interesting, plus you learned a ton!She is my new role model.
I adore Miss Vasquez, she had such passion for what she does. Though the first time around it seemed hard, the second time was a breeze.
This teacher spent minimal time teaching English. Class times were taken watching videos representing her political views. The only thing I learned in this course is what I read in the text book.
a good teacher. not to much homework and some of the stuff she gave everybody full credit for. however she was a hopeless procrastinator dont excpect to get anything back till after the summester is already over!
She made the class fun and interesting! There are quizzes every week, and must read all material if you except to pass them. But goes over all the reading material in class to clarify things. I would take her again!
Took the class in spring '04, very political! Spent class time watching videos about her views instead of learning English. If you agree with her opinions you'll love the class. The only composition I learned was from reading assignments. I got an A but now I don't think I'm ready for Eng 102.
Very Fun and interesting Course. I took Eng223 and Eng 102 with her during the summer which was from 8am-1pm. Shes a very interesting teacher who loves what she does, she handsout alot of notes in class to help the student learn better. Very easy to get a hold of. Would take her again.
Cool teacher. Very energetic, includes class in topics, uses comparisons from life to literature. Highly recommended!
Too much discussion on her personal opinions from a gay point of view. This has nothing to do with English or improving writing skills.
Very little teaching on English. She spends too much class time on her personal political opinions (especially gay and civil rights). Passionate for her cause, but not on teaching the writing skills that I paid to learn about in this class.
She discusses some aspect of homosexuality in every class. I am learning nothing regarding better writing skills. I would like to drop the class, but it is too late in the semester. This class is not worth the time or money. It takes her 30 days to give back a graded essay.
She discusses homosexuality during each class. I am learning little to nothing pertaining to a continuation of English 101. I am disappointed.
Too vocal about her sex life. Yuk! Yuk! Yuk!. More than I wanted to know. I learn more from the class films than from her lectures. Yuk! Yuk! Yuk!
Very, very ultra-liberal. Often uses examples of own political views as illustrations for writing techniques. Uses class as a platform to express personal political preferences. As for writing, gives good extra credit, late on returning papers, eager to assist when asked. Responds to e-mail. Likeable personality. Too non-stop political.
Enthusiastic, but overinvolved in pushing very liberal personal perspectives. Class is a steady diet of far-left commentary. Well read, articulate, eager to help with questions. Allows submission of papers by e-mail on due date before 12PM.
She taught me nothing which will prepare me for a 4-yr college. She frequently discussed her views as an atheist and a lesbian. She should not use her position as a professor to push for her lifestyle and personal beliefs. I took the class to learn to write better papers. Who cares who she sleeps with or if she believes in God?
While she is very opinionated, she never tries to force those opinions on anyone. She's a great teacher. Students know in advance paper topics, and she is very willing to help out with probems you might have. Read the assignments, and participate and you'll do fine.
Ive read some of these other comments and I dont belive she should be banned at all!! She's a fun teacher and yes she does talk about sex but its only pertraing to the material come on guys we are in college. She knows here work and makes it easy to relate. Quizzes are easy if you go to class 6 qu,3 papers + extra credit
Great teacher to have. I actually learned in her class.
Great teacher, VERY intelligent. Knows this subject so well. Funny and explains complex ideas in a simple/fun way. She is an Athiest and Lesbian but dosen't try to press her ideas upon the students.
I have taken this professor for 3 English courses. I don't believe that she pushes her beliefs on anyone. As along as you come to class, turn in the few assignments there are (by midnight due date), and take the 5 question quizzes-there are no long finals! - Her courses are a very simple B. She finds great examples to apply the material to our ever
I would recommend this professor to everyone- I wish there were more teachers like her! Her classes are always fun and easy to understand. Very little homework and quizzes are simple since she reviews before each! I have taken her for every English course I could.
When it comes to personality she is really laid back and funny. However, I also agree that she talked about her personal views a lot. She even told everyone that Christians believe that gays and lesbians are going to hell. I'm Christian and I don't believe that. A good thing is that I did learn a lot about Greek gods and she made class interesting.
I think she is a great teacher. She never mentioned once that she was a lesbian in my class. Although I pretty much figured it out myself. She actually made me enjoy reading literature. Her tests are easy if you listen and take notes. I recommend her!!
Great Professor. Would recommend her for both classes. She is funny, and energetic. This is the first English class I have ever looked forward to attending. Earned an A in both classes :)
She is a whole other world...she make a boring textbook story come to live. Her interpertations are very graspable. She rewords things for us to undertand them as if they were happening nowadays
I would recommend this instructor to anyone. She is very funny. I always looked forward to this class. I've taken her Eng 102 & 231 classes. There are a few papers that need to be turned in. Nothing too difficult. She gives out short quizzes to make sure you are keeping up with the readings. My favorite English instructor by far.
Great teacher. I loved the class. All of the stories she makes you read are very enjoyable. Quizzes are not difficult if you've read and pay attention to her powerpoints. Note on the powerpoints: Very, very helpful & interesting. There are a few papers to do but they're not difficult at all. I absolutely loved the class & definitely recommend her.

She's really passionate about what she teaches- it's a very enjoyable class, she makes it as interesting class.

She opens class with a quote about being open minded. She mentions things about her lifestyle but does not push her views on people. If you are not open minded, don't take her class because she makes you think about a lot of things and that's what I loved. In the end, she can't change your views unless you let her. Class is enjoyable & I recommend.
This woman is inspirational and always keeps you on the edge of your seat when she teaches. I have had her for my 101 and 231 class. I highly recommend her.
she is an awesome teacher. has a lot of opinions on everything, but never pushes any on anyone. she really knows what she's talking about. she gives a lot of busy work, but it's interesting none-the-less. i would HIGHLY recommend her if you have to take an ENG 101 class. she won't let you down. :]
Great professor, super cool shes very open on sexuality mostly because alot of the material has sexual content in it. She makes you want to go to class but don't miss classes and do the readings or you will fail, she gives alot of test but there super easy just 8 questions and all reviewed in class.take this professor you'll have a great time.
I love her!! She is the most awesome english teacher ever! If she taught all other english classes, I would take her class every single time. Don't pass this teacher up because she's wonderful...but you must register early-her classes fill up quick!
love her class. she is very interesting.
Her literature class is excellent. Like any literature class there will be alot of reading involved but she makes sure you understand every thing that will be on the test.her lectures are very interesting and she makes the class easy to pass
The class was really fun, because the teacher was great! It is all about reading and discussing it in class afterwards. She is a very modern and funny teacher.
I took Professor Vazquez for Eng 101 and 231. Very down to earth professor and humorous. Make sure you pay attention to all her powerpoints and take notes accordingly. Quizes are tricky too. Had a blast, definitely recommend her!!
She definitely knows what she is talking about. Basically, if you do all the essays and journals assigned you'll pass the class. You'll rarely have to read deeply into the text book, as long as you skim through the material, you'll pass the quizzes. She has an Awesome personality and very fun attitude, also teaching you something new every class.
She is a great proffessor. I hate english but this class was awesome. She is usually tardy but her lectures and powerpoint actually helps you when it comes to quizzes. You ACTUALLY HAVE TO READ the stories assigned to pass. b/c the quiz that you take comes from the notes and reading. there are three paper assignments and no final just a lots of qui
By far, one of the best professors I have had. I was already interested in Latin American Literature before I took this class but after, I completely fell in love with it. The assigned reading material is interesting. The journal assignments are thought provoking and entertaining. I highly recommend this professor.
I'm taking Ms Vazquez for Queer Literature this semester, we've had our ups and downs as this is a class still in the works. The professor is very informative, very kind, and very open to learning and teaching others. You can tell shes passionate about the subject matter, and in no way is this a class that tries to 'convert' or 'flip' people!!!
I had very little interest in World Literature until I took this class. Professor Vazquez makes it fun and interesting bringing her own modern twist into epic stories. She wants to make sure everyone gets it and is open to questions and ideas that will help her teach better. Lots of reading but homework and quizzes are easy if you do the reading.
Ms. Vazquez explains everything in detail and is very helpful. For those not interested in English you will be after her class. I learned so much information about everything: politics, the media, world history, religion and the list goes on. Highly recommended!
Passionate Teacher. If you put thought into the assignments you will get a good grade. Must do journals. You can even email her on the due date. Must read to understand the material. The most amazing writers in Lit were all homosexual. You will learn so much! Professor Vasquez is intelligent and a wonderfull teacher. If you need help, just ask.
Great teacher. Very helpful. She took time from her schedule to discuss with our class which was ONLINE. Now what teacher does that? She was there to answer questions and got back to us promptly. I am recommending her to all of my friends!
PROFESSOR VAZQUEZ IS AWESOME! I TOOK HER FOR SPRING 2010 SHE IS VERY HELPFUL AND HER TOPIC IN CLASS ARE VERY INTERESTING LEARNED SO MUCH TAKING HER CLASS. I WAS NOT ABLE TO FINISH THE SEMESTER DUE TO SOME MEDICAL PROBLEMS BUT WOULD HAVE LOVED TO CONTINUE HER CLASS. SHE IS ALWAYS THERE IF YOU NEED HELP WITH ANYTHING. WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN
She can be and is an amazoning professor. this semester was not her best semester. Her personal live seem to be interfering with her teaching. The class was online it was not very stimulating which is not like her.
She is one of the most available teacher for her students. She really goes out of her way to help, which is nice to see. Her lectures in English lit seem to involve quite a bit of sex, which is weird but makes the class interesting. If you don't like to read don't take this class! You have to work for your grade! She is hyper and sometimes hard to follow but she knows what she is talking about. Overall good professor...if you only miss 3 or less classes she changes ur lowest quiz to 100%!!!
"Queer Lit" is a great class. I get the feeling she's toned down the subject matter to not offend people, but I am still learning a lot. I think it is a very important class for anyone to take, regardless of their current sexual orientation. She is a good instructor. The assignments are fair - the journal assignments evoke thought.
She was funny and talks a lot. Seems like she did stress a lot because she had 6 classes. You have enough time to do the essays and journals, but just remember to do them before they are due! you have 5 journals, 5 quizes, and 5 essays. No midterm or final. I loved the teacher! Just did not love all the work!
This professor is awesome! All of the text read were extremely interesting. she knows what she is teach, very passionate about literature. you know exactly what to expect with her. if you don't pass, might as well drop out of college!!
topic was Queer Lit. she is a great teacher. one of the best classes ive had up to date. if you have any questions she is always very helpful. had about 8 assignments but werent too hard and also a ppt project but wasnt too bad either. shes great would totally recommend her to anyone.
Queer Lit was a good, informative class. She is funny, flexible and fair. Somewhat delusional on some topics, tho. I enjoyed the journals & making the ppt, but I HATED presenting the ppt to the class. There's never a perfect ppt. She's slow at returning papers. And a little too much concern about who was a lesbian in the class, in my opinion.
SHE IS GREAT! PROBABLY THE BEST TEACHER I'VE HAD IN COLLEGE, I WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE. SHE MAKES EVERYTHING INTERESTING AND VERY UNDERSTANDING! THERE ARE 5 JOURNALS, 5 QUIZES, AND 5 ESSAYS AS LONG AS YOU DO THEM YOU WILL PASS AND MAKE SURE YOU SHOW UP TO CLASS!
She has a great teaching style. I think because she personally relates to the course "Queer Lit" she has a basic understanding and passion for what and how she teaches. She makes the course easy to understand. She's funny at times too so that the course is humorous and not offensive to some. I do recommend taking her.
this teacher is trying to kill us with too much work. i hate this class with a passion. this is crazy amount of work.
this prof. is trying to kill us with way TOO MUCH work. this is crazy. i hate this class now.
She is great! She is very passionate about the subject. Lots of reading that you might not fully understand but once you get to class, she will explain it crystal clear, she is funny and very down to earth, If I didn?t have to do all the essays and reading I will take her classes over and over!!
Professor Vasquez is great! She is very knowledgable and passionate about the material and makes a lot of jokes to keep it interesting and fun. The homework is easy, but you have to attend class if you want to do well on the quizzes. Overall she's a great instructor. I wish she taught all of my classes!
One of the best professors I've had thusfar! As long as you show up for class and pay attention, you will have no problem getting a good grade. All the answers to the quizzes are in her lectures, so pay attention. She is really helpful, willing to meet with you one-on-one if you need, and very passionate about the subject matter. Love her!
Professor Vazquez explains everything with clarity in her lectures and powerpoints, she is definitely passionate about the topics she teaches. The class has 10 online quizzes, and 5-6 essays, the class was a definite breeze, pay attention to the powerpoints and do your readings and you'll end up with an A.
I feel like I cheated myself by taking this as a summer course. I wish I'd been able to have her for a full semester! Such a great teacher, really brings the stories to life and relates them to modern times.
4wk class. Lots of work. 4 tests: ?s are really obscure & difficult to answer. 7 board posts w/ 2 replies ea. 1 group essay. 1 ppt presentation. Lots of required media & reading. Inconsistent in responding to ?s but very helpful when she does. Very easy grader. Would take her again in fall/spring if no one better was available, but not in summer.
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Vazquez is an awesome teacher. She is very passionate at was she teaches. Her door is always open for those who need help, or if you just need to talk. I highly recommend her.
Favorite Professor thusfar! Professor Vazquez makes literature come alive. She is so passionate and knowledgable and makes learning easy and fun. She has a great sense of humor which shines thru in her lectures. She goes out of her way to help her students. She is amazing! Wish she taught all of my classes! Lectures are crucial, so dont miss class!
Great Professor.I really enjoyed this class.I think everyone should take Queer Lit. Just be open-minded if you do. Professor Vazquez is passionate about what she teaches.
My favorite Professor at CSN. Professor Vazquez is extremely passionate about what she teaches. She is always there if you need to talk. I think everyone should take Queer Lit. Just be open-minded if you do. Awesome Professor!!
I took two of her classes, and she is awesome. She's very passionate and knowledgeable. A lot of tech is involved and you have to write a lot of essays, so not a teacher for the lazy.
Do NOT take this proffesor, she has TONS of incomprehensible assignments and wants you to read passages that will put you to SLEEP. Horrid.
Agree. Do not take this class with this teacher. She is the worst teacher I have ever encountered in my life. True, she can be passionated with her personal life's stories, but when it comes to teaching she is a very messy teacher and have preferences for certain individuals more than others.
Do not take her unless you have loads of free time. She will make you write an essay every three weeks on completely irrelevant topics. I dislike this class immensely.
I am the person who left the last response and to be honest, I wasn't honest with my rating. Her assignments arent irrelevant they are difficult but very worth it because I have learned soo much from her and I am grateful to have her as a teacher. Do the work you will learn a lot
DO NOT TAKE THIS ONLINE CLASS. It is very unclear what we are learning, supposed to be reading or where to find the material. Test questions are IMPOSSIBLY hard and obscure! Grade is almost entirely based on test grades! Website is very unclear. You will regret it everyday if you take this class. Your GPA will suffer. And, I have learned nothing.
I'm taking this class online and it is the worst class out of my entire 2 years at CSN. Professor is unorganized, I have no clue what I am learning from week to week, takes over a month to grade assignments, and provides zero clarity. You will work during spring break. This is a bad, unorganized teacher do not take anything with her.
I have always loved to read but I never liked writing about it. This class brought out the love of literature in me. 4 easy 300 word essays. 1 compare translations, 1 group Q&A on Plato's Apology. 10 - 10 question quizzes on the assigned readings. She's always available - email or Skype. Great professor.
Don't listen to those who say it's unorganized, obviously they didn't read the syllabus! She is a very knowledgeable & passionate about this course. She will go out of her way to help you if needed. If you actually read the passages or any slideshows she puts up, it will help tremendously on quizzes. I highly recommend her!
Do not take this course unless you are into literature or have nothing else going on in your life. She is one of those inconsiderate professor that assume you have all the time in world for her class. Class itself is not hard just extremely time consuming. This class has stressed me out more than any other class I've ever taken
a lot of reading, but that's what one should expect from a literature class
She is a great teacher as far as English goes. Believe me when I say this though, she will BLOW UP your e-mail on a daily basis. She definitely loves to talk. The class is easy though. If you like working in groups, this is a good class to take. Most of the essays are group projects. Alot of reading included as well...
She is great. Very knowledgeable
This was a good class, especially online. No surprises and its english so expect to be writing essays, which can be difficult but the subject matter isnt. Fair grading, extra credit opportunities and compassionate instructor. Was not an easy A but if you dont procrastinate and do your best and take her feedback, you will be fine.
She is an exceptional professor! Extremely detailed, tells you everything you need to know for quizzes, essays, and discussions. Her classes were never boring! Attending class is a must just for her in-depth explanations of the literature.
Very passionate about literature. I was interested in attending classes just to hear her talk. Everything we did for class was online, so going to class isn't necessary. Quizzes were 50% of your grade and were very easy (10 questions ea). Papers pretty simple, but she does have you do group projects often, which is terrible.
Amazing professor! She makes everything interesting, she helps translate old text to something we can understand. The readings aren't even hard they are interesting stories from around the world.
It's a great literature class, she's excited to talk about and discuss ideas. She's visual and animated. I loved the diversity of the readings. Definitely leave time to do the readings. All in all and great teacher I'd love to take her class again.
This class was a 4 week summer class. So 16 weeks got crammed into 4 weeks. It sounds way more difficult than it was. Professor Vazquez was extremely helpful and made everything she wanted very clear. I ended up with an A in the class which made me very happy. It may be a lot of work, but it was definitely a lot of fun.
Very great professor. She leans more towards Greek mythology in the assignments. The Comparing Translations essay was vague in what she wanted. Did not really state word count min, or what she really wanted us to compare. A lot of work, but it's worth it. Doesn't show grade during the semester.
Professor Vazquez does lean towards Greek Philosophy, and at frustrating I thought,y am I here!! After reading her hand outs and writing the very short essays, I see she is only broadening our small horizons and making you seek the truth, see things how they are, and get an education!! Exceptional feedback. Ready for next class!
Professor Vazquez is a great teacher. Since I have taken her online, I would have loved to see what she is like in the classroom. She doesn't make the assignment tough but she does make you think and analyze the readings to come up with your own conclusion. Very positive and entertaining in her feedback yet fair and helpful.
ALOT OF GROUP PROJECTS. Every paper in class is in a group except the last paper. About 4-5 group papers, 1 on your own. It was frustrating because I did not feel that I was being graded on my own workwriting skills. Would have rather had choices of what to write about instead of political topics. It became frustrating to enjoy writing anymore.
She is a very nice teacher however the group projects were annoying. ALOT of Greek mythology is used in this course along with political issues. Not really sure why and personally I could care less about politics so I was a little bored in this class. You have to write a lot in this class as far as assignments go and there are some quizzes as well.
Professor Vazquez is an excellent professor. She is responsive , clarifies expectations and challenges you to see things from a different point of view. It is not an Easy A. You need to put in the work to pass this class. Enjoy the learning process - it is worth it. I highly recommend her!
There are 5 essays that really matter in this class and 4 of them are group essays. They're usually about politics, so if you're not interested in that, don't take this class. Very boring papers. Wish we were able to write about more than politics.
Vazquez is a very good teacher. 4/5 of the assignments are group-related. If you don't like group projects, then probably don't do this class. Most of her assignments are political and while that is fine and dandy, I would actually like a little more variety.
Don't take her class unless you love old English literature and love doing group papers. The group papers were by far the most annoying thing about the class. Her grading doesn't seem too harsh. She is one of those teachers that don't care what you have going on. She did extend one of my group papers. I should have checked here before I chose her.
The "group" projects are 300-500 word discussion posts that can be easily done by 1 person. Not much of a factor. She is an easy grader and the quizzes can be done with some clever use of google and a little skimming of the readings. If you're into literature, she can be a great professor. At the least, its an easy-to-pass class.
Professor Vazquez is cool. I admire her ability to manage online classes effectively. With that being said, for 293 there were only a couple of assignments. 10 discussion posts, and 8 quizzes. There wasn't a discussion post or quiz due every week. The reading is VERY interesting. My only complaint would be the group discussion posts.
There was some late feedback, but she allowed me to fix and turn in a replacement paper with no penalty. If you approach her respectfully with your issues she does her best to remedy them. Lot's of writing and group papers.
Had to get the school authorities involved because she thought I was offensive in a paper I wrote. And after everything that happened, she was in the wrong. She's dramatic and rude and thinks she can step all over you just because shes a teacher and you are the student. Wouldn't recommend.
The readings she provides is very interesting. She is very easy to talk to. If you ever need help she is there. She responds very quick. Her feedback is great. It helps with your next assignment. The only problem I had I felt I was not graded for my work, but graded for my teamwork. If they answered wrong, you answered wrong and lowers your grade.
You get a lot of homework. But it's amazing homework as in: watching films every week and reading great stories. You do partcipate a lot in class, though she does make the class open and relaxed for discussions. The lectures do teach you a lot and they're pretty funny. Finals aren't bad and I would so take the class again.
She's the definitive Professor for me. Patient, funny, and empathetic. Her courses are straight forward. There's no hoops or busywork. I've taken her online and in person, she just has a great aura. She makes you want to be a better student/person. The only thing she asks of you is to interact with your peers. Have zero worries on choosing her.
DO NOT WRITE YOUR OPINION ON AN ESSAY EVEN WHEN SHE ASKS FOR ONE. She will give you and F and report you to school administratives because she does not agree with what you wrote. Very rude teacher and hard grader. Would not recommend.
Vasquez was very straight forward; she is not a good grader. She barely grades right. She does not like it when students ask too many questions. I like to make sure of everything before submitting an assignment. I honestly do not recommend her because it was not a class to look forward to.
At first I didn't like her at all. As the class went on she gave great feedback on assignments and actually cared about helping out. She is easy to talk to and will do her best to help in any situation. I am an English major and this class was pretty easy for me, but there is a lot of reading so be prepared. I recommend her!
Class was seemlessly what an ENG 101 class should consist of. She's great with communication gets back to you the next day. Sends reminders and does give great constructive feedback to your papers. Yes you have to write papers lol. But they aren't too long 3-5 pages MLA format.
Attendance is not mandatory, but her lectures are hilarious and time flies. This is an easy A if you read. All the assignments are online and she is always willing to help. She in my opinion is a generous grader. Her class was about Hell and it was great.
She was very passionate about what she does and a great overall teacher. She didn't just grade your assignments, but took the time to provide feedback to each and every student. She explained all the assignments and what she expected very clearly, but still took the time to promptly reply to any questions you had or emails you sent.
She is an excellent professor. Listen up during the lecture, all the assignments are turned in on-line/Canvas. She is willing to help you out and respond to e-mail with 24 hours but not usually on weekends. Enjoy!
I love English and professor Vazquez was awesome in her lectures. All of the tests, quizzes, assignments are on canvas and her lectures are slideshows which are great. The only thing I didn't like about this class was the discussion board and working with other students. Felt like some people in my group didn't contribute enough.
Words alone won't describe how devoted, caring and approachable Professor Vazquez is. She will help you with every chance she gets. The materials in her class are interested and full of information. I've learned so much from her as a teacher and mentor. Highly recommend.
She's literally the best English teacher I've ever had. I would take her over again if I had the chance to. She explains everything to you, does power points as well. & Yes the power points are on canvas. She is active on canvas, and replies back to your email pretty quickly. Online quizzes, discussion boards, plus she has lots of personality 3
Professor Vazquez was amazing! The content of her class is awesome, and fun to read! The class is not hard as long as you put in the time to read the required material and give yourself time to write the assignments. She gives excellent feedback as well!
Ms. Vazquez is the best English Professor at CSN! She gives amazing feedback and will answer any questions you have in person or over email super quickly. She's always open to class discussions and is also interested in what her students have to say. Take her class if you're able to! And never be afraid to say what's on your mind!
Interesting reading material. A quiz and discussion post just about every week. One group essay about Christopher Columbus and a couple group discussion posts: can be done in Google Docs. I informed her that I felt my teammates weren't pulling their weight, so she allowed me to work on my own. Very understanding! Would take again.
Professor Vazquez gives very great feedback to your discussion posts and essays. You can always retake quizzes and they are timed. There are four essays, three done with groups and the last essay done by yourself. The only thing I hated was how my essay group teammates were not doing any work at all! Shame on them and wish them luck in the future.
Professor Vazquez is an approachable and kind teacher who will help and answer any questions you need. Clear on what she wants done and gives easy access to all things you need for the assignments. Includes discussion posts, quizzes, and a few essays. Very easy class if you just read and turn in all work on time.
Professor Vasquez is a great professor- I would take her again in a heartbeat! She lets you express yourself in this course and gives you freedom within the required instructions. There are many video and text references, but overall the real life applications make this class enjoyable. She answers emails quickly and clears any questions you have!
Took this class over the summer for 4 weeks and it was relatively easy. There were three short essays, a few quizzes, discussion posts, and a cumulative final. You need to read in order to pass the final. Good feedback on all work so you can improve. I would take Vazquez again. Recommended if you need an English class.
Very responsive & provided great feedback for all papers! The only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was that you pretty much work in a group for most of the semester. Thankfully, I had a wonderful group and everyone worked well together. For others, I know it was an extreme challenge. Ultimately, as long as you do the work, you can do well.
LOVE LOVEEEE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! She is an amazing teacher! Shes very understanding, and wants us to ask questions if we have any. She is not one of those teachers that grade you harshly. I would 100% take her class again.
I took the professor about 2 summers ago and I don't recommend her she would comment things like "Talk to me. How can I help?". I would then ask her for help and she belittled me and pretty much told me I wasn't trying hard enough. This was just a devastating feeling because I tried so hard for her to just state that i was not even trying
The readings are not difficult, the textbook is very easy to read and I actually found it interesting, team work is a big part of class and if there is ever a problem with other teammates she is very reasonable. As long as you letter know what is going on she will work with you. She provided great feedback on homework which helps you improve.
She allows you to express your thoughts on the assignments. Good feedback, very caring, readings are not difficult, no essays just discussions every week and about half are team assignments and other half by yourself. Her grading is clear and in case you are confused JUST ASK HER & you will pass. She knows when you put effort it's very important!
Took as a 4 week online course. A lot of material but the way she designed the class makes everything manageable. Working in groups was frustrating at first but then turned into a lifesaver. She gets back to you really quickly about any questions you might have. 10/10, this ended up being one of my favorite classes! Amazing! Absolutely recommend!
I took her class as a hybrid. At first she was checking the attendance but then she stopped so I stopped attending, because we'd only read the stuff she posted on canvas a couple day before. A good number of assignments each week, but she's not a tough grader. Responds to emails quickly and explains what you don't get. I'd take her class again.
This professor was great. I really slacked off towards the end of the semester and got a C, but it truly was an easy A if you did your work. Also, I got a C on the essay, but she messaged me about it saying she may bump up my grade if I replied to her with a paragraph of a point I was missing. AMAZING teacher for paying attention to her students!
I took the online course and was mortified that we had to do multiple "group" assignments. The whole reason I take online courses is to not have to deal and meet with people, or else I would go to school and take the classes there. Just didn't make sense and was a total disappointment.
I enrolled in this class knowing that it required group projects because I had no other alternative. However, this professors decision to make an online college class to work in groups is one of the biggest mistakes she couldve made. A lot of content but she provides alternatives for different types of learners.
She's amazing! I took her class online and she was always willing to meet in person. I've never had such an interactive online prof. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic she made herself available for private Zoom meetings. She always gave helpful feedback and we had a few good laughs. She assigned 5 group projects, 10 quizzes (easy), and one essay.
I enjoyed English 272 with Professor Vazquez. She does do group work but I enjoyed it a lot, as I got to make friends and got to know people in class. I have taken other online classes before and I can honestly say I do not remember anyone in that class. Professor Vazquez group work was a great idea. Her grading and assignments are clear!
I enjoyed the teaching structure of this class the most, with the fact most of it was discussion based and Vazquez was good at leading conversations in the right direction. Good feedback and quick responses, and very understanding. Would take her again.
Very, very nice professor. Truly cares for students academic success . The class is very challenging a lot of work/postings/reading outside of class time dedicated.
Professor Vazquez was really nice, and her feedback was super duper helpful! Each week there are assignments, usually some reading/ viewing material that she provides, and the assignments for the week. Some weeks are easier than others, so it might be worth your time to look ahead. If she holds any BBB meetings attend them! They help alot.
I absolutely loved Professor Vazquez. She made ENG 272 incredibly fun and educational. She introduced me to a lot of queer literature I didn't know about and queer history. Her class was a blast and I wouldn't hesitate to take another class of hers again. Professor Vazques is truly a remarkable lady, I definitely recommend her to anyone. :)
Took an online class it was wonderful but i hate group projects with a passion. my only complaint
I took this course via remote. Teacher gives great feedback. There are a number of discussions and quizzes. There are 4 essays, 3 of which are group essays. I do not enjoy group work as you receive the same grade as your peers regardless of your work. A lot of reading.
This teacher does a very good job at using recent events to tie into the lectures but puts NO effort into promoting views from both sides of the spectrum. This was the worst class Ive taken and had multiple encounters that become embarrassing because of the way things are handled. She also has multiple group assignments. Do not recommend.
I am not an English major, English wasn't my first language, and I usually detest English classes. With that said, during my tenure at CSN, this professor's class (albeit online) was one of the most engaging, fun, and exciting classes I had the pleasure of taking. This professor made this class into the most memorable, enjoyable experiences I had.
I had my doubts going into the class especially learning about the group discussion posts, I ended up with a decent group, and as long as you communicate with everyone you'll be fine! Make sure to read the assigned text and do the assigned materials before the lectures because you'll be less confused!
I don't recommend this class if you hate group projects. I took her remote online class that was once a week, she always ended class in a rush and didn't have time to cover all the material. It's a class that if you put in the work and don't procrastinate you'll pass. She's a good teacher, I just really hated the group assignments.
Amazing professor. Do all discussion posts& communicate with your team. DO NOT miss the translations essay its 20% of grade. Very understanding prof, responds emails very fast and works with you. 10/10 recommend I absolutely loved her. Very easy A.
Awesome Professor! She's an easy grader just follow the template she gives you for the assignments. The textbook is "required" but on the weekly assignments, she would link the chapter from the textbook for you to view. 4 annotating assignments, 5 discussions, 3 group essays, 1 solo essay, and 7 quizzes. Easy to communicate with when you need help!
I took the online course and she would answer my questions quickly through email. She is not a difficult grader as all of her requirements are on the rubric. As long as u meet the work requirement and follow the rubric you can get a good grade. The quizzes aren't bad and you are given a lot of time to finish a 10-15 question weekly quiz.
Group projects aren't that bad, it's just answering questions in paragraph form with around 2-3 other people. Quizzes follow the discussion posts given, not bad for busy students. She gives an outline on all if not most assignments, so she is very clear on her grading. 5 group projects (basically just easy discussion posts) 10 quizzes total.
Professor Vazquez's ENG231 class is engaging and interactive, even in an online setting. While the group discussions can be challenging, she provides clear guidance and is very understanding. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for preparing for the quizzes. Overall, a rewarding experience.
Solid professor, gives really good feedback on all assignments. Lectures were engaging. The grades worth the most points were group essays, which isn't my preferred style, but I got lucky and didn't have a group for most of the semester. Lastly, if you enjoy working in a group to complete projects and engaging in lectures take this class.
Her passion for teaching is very motivating. She is extremely helpful and always makes sure to make class entertaining, even if it is online. The quizzes are easy, and there are 5 group discussions that are also manageable. 10/10 professor.
Great personality and lectures for ENG101, but I didn't feel like I learned as much as I wanted to throughout the semester and I feel like the homework and tests weren't beneficial to my knowledge. She's a tough grader but if you follow the rubrics you'll be fine.Your grade is mainly weighted on the 4-5 group essays, groups consist of 2-3 students.
