An “A” is very attainable if you want it...his passion in his field keeps your interest...not being in class won’t kill ya--if you READ...overall, an awesome teacher even with a 300+ class.

this guy's awesome. make friends in the class the first day, get the questions for review for each chapter from your friends, study those and you'll get an A on every test. make your paper creative and you'll get full credit.

From his colorful suits with matching accessories to his strong passion for the subject makes this guy one of my favorite teachers ever! He is interesting to listen to and gives class demonstration of a real life tornado.

Somebody get this guy a fashion coach! All I did was do the study guide questions, slept through most of the semester (since he used so many slides and videos), write a paper, and I got an A in the class. This guy knows everything about Geology.

An incredible professor. Humerous, interesting, intelligent. He creates a tornado in the middle of class for god sake! A great class for native southern Californians because he talks all about earthquakes, wildfires, mudslides and surf.

Professor Abbott is the greatest. Lectures are intensely interesting. Make sure that you read the text and take GOOD NOTES. Quizzes are hard. Do not buy the lecture notes because Abbott uses powerpoint. While, at the same time his lectures are more geared toward the text then his lecture notes.

What a great teacher!!! His lectures are fast-paced but superb. Tests can be tough and based more on text than his lectures. Very enjoyable!

This professor is a hottie...he is so cute. An eye-opener if you have a eight o'clock class.Read the text because lectures,and the booklet will not help you come exam time.

Professor Abbott is great. It's easy to crash his class. As long as there is floor space you can get into the class. He is an awesome teacher, and really makes you interested in the material. Tests are semi-hard, just take good notes and study. This is the best class I ever took in college!

Nice guy. Lectures get a little boring. No busy work. Tests arent too bad. Look in the book to see the website with the review questions. Those will help you out.

I loved this class! Gives you 3 mc exams & 1 paper to write (very simple). You don't have to show up to class you can just study the book (he wrote it). Very nice man.

Tests are very easy if you read (and have a memory) Just taking notes in class will still get you a B in my opinion. He tries to vary his lectures w/ photos, videos, web sites...and he knows his stuff. Those who get bored are most likely just taking the class just for the units and have no interest in the subject.

This was an interesting class, but I don't care what you say, even if you are potentially interested in this class, it still can get very boring. Pretty easy for the most part, three exams and one paper...study the review questions and follow along as he lectures. Nice guy.

this class was very easy, just pay attention in lecture, which is very interesting, and do the review questions that he gives you, and you will end up with a good grade, hes a very entertaining person overall, and i actually enjoyed going to class.

abbott is very knowledgable on the subject, and explains things very clearly. He likes to talk a lot, so if u cant stand lectures, dont take him. He will always clarify things if there are questions. His tests are always on lecture matter, and he wrote the book so it reinforces his lectures. Tests are non-cummulitive, no homework, one easy 2 page p

Entertaining, even for a 9am class. Didn't do to well on tests, read the book and study notes you will do o.k.- if you understand the concepts you will do great. Always on the news, and always has crazy shoes/suit/ties.

Fun easy class. You don't need to go to class, just read the book paying special attention to the "questios for review" at the end (he tells you which to study). Some of the material on tests is from the book NOT lectures-so make sure you read and you'll get an A.

Read book, answer ?s 4 review, dont worry if u miss a class, totally easy paper, tests are ok (not too hard, but definitely not too easy). He explains himself very well and has good knowledge of Natural Disasters. Recommend to take this guy b/c he's cool & understanding.

Probally one of the most interesting professors I have ever had. Lectures are interesting and Abbott is extremely clear in explaining different facts and ideas. He has a real passion for teaching and it shows. Wears crazy suits everyday to class. Not an easy A. Go to his class's , Read book and most importantly Do all of the questions for Review.

Best teacher at State! He is so clear and precise. As long as you take notes in lecture and review the diagrams, you will get an A. His lectures are very interesting, considering most of the students are not Geology majors.

I took his Natural Disasters course at Palomar. Wasn't my favorite class (not so into the course material), but he made it tolerable, and I learned some interesting things. He is passionate about teaching and about the subject which makes it nice. Go to lectures, do his questions for review in the book and I can't see getting less than an A.
