He is a tough grader..if not Martin Luther King Jr. speech, it wont be an A..but a lot of B's for your speeches. Every day there is another speech, but it helps A LOT. Take him if you want an fun class and a def. passing grade

Professor Bartee is a cool guy. Went into class dreading public speaking, but he gets you used to it really fast. You have a speech every class, but in a way its a good thing. All of the speechs get you ready for the next one. He is a great speaker, but is kind of a tough grader. Lots of B's and few A's. Probably the best speech teacher at valencia

I loved Prof. Bartee. He was my first on-campus teacher and though like most people I absolutely hated public speaking, (and still do) he gets you completely used to it by the end of the semester. You do a speech every class but you get to know all of your classmates and it's never boring. He also let us out of class early a lot. Very understanding

I'm a very shy person and I don't like speaking in front of the class. However, he makes the class so much easier and fun. All the other speech classes do work from the book. Speech class is about talking, not doing work from the book. If you get Prof. Bartee you won't regret it. I love his class.

Pro BARTEE is amazing, if you dont like speaking at all dont take his class, your going to have a speech atleast once a week, but they are fun and usually on a topic of your choice, he is an amazing teacher and an amazing person im glad i had a chance to take his class, i wouldnt buy the book if i were you he barely uses it, no written test at all

Prof. Bartee is an amazing professor! Very hands on and gets you acclimated with the surrounds of speech very quick. I was shy and timid when I started his class, now I actually look forward to giving speeches and interacting with the class everyday. Prof. Bartee is a really cool person however, I do not like his teaching style. Hes biased and really grades you on how much he likes your personality. DO NOT recommend taking his 50 min. It's a speech class and this is EXACTLY what you do. Every week he assigns a new speech to talk about. Other speech classes you only do three speeches which MAKES NO SENSE! He makes it clear of his rules in the begginning, follow them and youll be fine! Even YOU will see how EVERYONE is so relaxed to speak at the end of the semester!

Hes not exactly an easy A, I got a B. But I would still recommend him! He's suupppeerrrr funny! Cracks on everyone. Just make sure you turn in your outlines, which is your only HW anyway! So he doesnt give much sympathy for not having those in ontime! Your gonna speak alot but by the end of the semester even the most shy person (me) is comfortable!

Just finished this class. In our last class he told us all that most speech professors want perfect and professional speeches, but what he is interested in is making his students feel comfortable being themselves in front of an audience. Couldn't ask for more! Take this class, don't even think twice about it!!!

I went into the class thinking great, this is going to suck. By the end I loved the class and wished it wasn't over. This is an amazing class with an amazing teacher. Outlines are due about once a week but if you spend 10 minutes they'll be done. You do about 12 speeches in the class but they are all weighed the same. Best teacher Ive ever had!!!

The best teacher I've ever had hands down!! If you hate public speaking this teacher will turn you into a speech fanatic(ok maybe i took that too far) but he is awesome. You do a lot of speeches but it's well worth it. This is a good way to come out of your shell and be heard. AWESOME PROFESSOR!!

This is my favorite and best teacher I have ever had, by far. I went in thinking I was going to hate any speech class but by the first class I knew I was going to love this one. Professor Bartee is so fun! He barely makes you work out of the book because hes more of a hands on teacher, he prefers you to express yourself through all the fun speeches assigned. I just finished his summer speech class and it was awesome. everyone left there being friends and more outgoing. he lets you pick your topics, isn't hard on speech outlines (as long as it's in speech format doesn't care about mla. Super easy and pretty fun.

Easy class! So much fun! His class will transform you into a more confident person if anything. I was at first terrified of speech and sad to leave at the end of the term. This is one of the greatest classes I have ever taken. The experience is so amazing and you really get to know your peers and your Professor. The book is needed for all speech classes BUT his. You give 4+ speeches. It sounds hard but each one prepares for the final. Attendance is mandatory but you'll WANT to go. He's funny & understanding. If you?re scared, remember everyone is scared of public speaking. You grow together & honestly form a bond b/c you learn a lot about them & yourself.

Professor gets you to open up to the class fast! This class is more like a therapy lesson than actual class. I always worked really hard on my speeches but i never got anything higher than an 88. No textbook, No tests, Just speeches, about 10 of them

Such an easy 'A' thanks to Professor Bartee. The only way to get anything below a B is to not even try. He is really cool and understanding. However, he is aware if you procrastinate your speeches until the last minute so give an effort, don't be lazy and an A is guaranteed. This class will be helpful in future classes as well.

Agree he is a good professor and tries to build a family atmosphere but if you want an A then keep away...I earned a B but my speeches were better than others who were graded higher than mine. Very disappointed

I really worked for my grade. Professor Bartee was tough but fair. I missed a major speech and he did allow me to make it up and gave me half credit. Thanks for that! I do recommend him because he cares about his students.

Bartee is comedic, and the class is entertaining. not a class for slackers. Outlines are easy to follow, you will constantly be working on a speech since day 1. Other teachers gives lectures during the first half, and dont get to the speeches right away. Bartee begins immediately. Good class, be prepared

No textbook. Always had something to do whether it was an outline, topic creation, etc. Learned to be more open with people & less anxious to speak, but to be a better speaker? I don't think so. He's entertaining though. I didn't like how he organized speech days so he could hear himself talk instead of having more time to hear good speeches.

I don't understand how anyone could rate Bartee negatively, he is an AMAZING teacher! His classes are very interesting and fun! He doesn't require the textbook! Speeches can be challenging, but he gives you an outline to fill out, and the process is quite simple! You will become great friends with your entire class! DEFINITELY take his class!

I am a lucky person because I took this class because I registered at the last minutes and usually last minute classes are horrible. Very good professor over all, will try to help you and will give really good and accurate feedback about your speeches. I was usually frightened to talk in front of people but he helped my fears go away. As long as you do the outlines and show up to class you're fine. Also NO BOOK REQUIRED

Probably one of the greatest teachers/professors I have ever had. I had this class at 7:00 AM , and he was probably the only reason I could put up with that. He is probably one of the friendliest and more caring professors you can have. Just make sure you have your speech outlines turned in on time. Practice your speech, and the class is easy.

Professor Bartee becomes your friend the first day of class. The vibe given in the class will make you comfortable with everyone around you. But he is a bit tough with the grading of the speeches. Very easy to get a B, difficult to get an A. (P.S. YOU DONT NEED TO GET THE TEXTBOOK)

First thing I have to say is that he's a funny guy and loves his socks/crack jokes. Always happy. Never used the text book, but he goes over everything that needs to be said/done. It's kind of hard to get 100% on the speeches if you're not the type of person that likes public speaking. Other than that, very cool class. I recommend it.

He was uber funny and didn't really hold back with jokes. He tried his best to get everybody to get to know each other, especially by making speeches personal. I have to say that I came into the class scared because I hate speaking and came out actually being able to stand in front of people without stuttering. I definitely would take him again!

He becomes your best friend on the first day. Very laid back person and an amazing person to be around. Pushes to bring out your real personality and makes you become comfortable to be around your classmates. Encourages tips and situations where you would lose the fear of public speaking. His class was a LOT of fun. But HORRIBLE GRADER!! If you go even ONE second over the time limit you lose a whole letter grade off your presentation!! Only 2 people out of the whole class got an A. If you care about your GPA as I do, take an other teacher or take interpersonal studies class instead.

I don't know where to start but I will say this, Patrick Bartee is probably the best speech professor you can take in a lifetime. Our class became a family and a room full of timid individuals grew into confident students and it was all due to his love and direction to his students. He is a wonderful professor and I would recommend him to anyone!

This professor is amazing!!! There are 4- 5 speeches. He makes the atmosphere comfortable and you really get to know all of your classmates. By the end of the semester you have a class full of friends. :) He always uses a rubric to grade which helps you know what to work on. He's kind, funny, and always there to help. I've never neen a fan of speech but when i took his class he made everyone feel comfortable and everyone got to know eachother. he gives about 4 speeches a semester doesnt take much late work as long as you do you speeches when they're due and follow his outline you'll pass, defintely would take again. dont get the book he doesnt use it

He's a great guy, and really does want you to pass. He's the kind of professor that cares more that you learned something when you leave, than about your grade. Professor Bartee is the best speech professor in Florida. He is very clear on what he wants from you and goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. Four speeches only, some are long but as long as you follow his guidelines and try at least a little bit you will pass.

Professor Bartee is a great, funny professor. He loves to play music before class so students can be relaxed. He makes the class feel like a family so its not so intimidating when your giving your speech. Textbook, never used it once dont buy it!

I LOVED HIS CLASS! Although a tough grader he brought out so much confidence that I never knew existed with writing speeches as well as giving them. I would so tale his class again!

Professor Bartee is probably in my top 3 professors that I've had at Valencia. I took him for speech a while back and he just made me feel super comfortable. He brings the confidence out of you that probably wouldn't come out normally. Definitely enjoyed my time in class which is something I never say. Take him if you can!

Bartees class for me became like a second family he gives you so much confidence that by the end of it your speeches have all told eachother such personal stuff you can really feel close to your classmates. He does mostly speeches for your grade but i promise that you will learn a lot and with preparation you'll get an A every time.

Took him at Seminole State. Prof. Bartee is absolutely AMAZING. His lectures aren't lectures at all. He's very personable and helpful. He sets you in a way that by the end of the course you won't feel nervous about giving a speech. The only way you can fail is if you don't show up and don't speak.

Professor Bartee is the best speech professor at Valencia. Class is easy and there is NO HOMEWORK. The only things you have to do is write your speeches and outlines and you're done. VERY EASY. 100% would take again and would recommend to anyone else.

I took this for my first semester and went in with dreading to give a speech. I always hated it but he really helped me. You can really see the progress through your speeches and he gives great feedback! Considering this is one of the options for mandatory -I would take him. By my last speech, it feels like your speaking to your best friend.

HE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR! From the first day of class he made us all fell welcomed and through out the semester did not change with his character. We all respected him and he made the class fun! Made us feel extremly comfortable with one another!

You give 4 speeches in total, he creates a comfortable environment, and no homework. All you have to do is write an outline for the speech, turn it in, and then give the speech. Easy A and you still learn a lot if you take his feedback to heart. Great guy.

One of my favorite professors. What made this class great was the connection I had with my peers and with the prof himself. Speech during the summer is killer fast, and is very extreme so beware. I'm pretty sure fall is much lighter on everything. If I had the chance, I would take Bartee again with the same classmates. I will miss him! Take him.

On the first week he went out of his way to make us comfortable in class. The speeches were easy, I would literally take his class all year, like, I can't even.

I LOVED HIM.. He was a really good teacher. I HATE public speaking with everything in me. I would rather die but if I had to take speech again, I swear I would with him. He goes out of his way to make sure that your comfy with not only him but the rest of the class. We were suppose to use the book one time but I passed without reading it.

Don't let the syllabus deceive you. It just looks scary and condescending which Bartee is clearly not. Very solid prof for speech. Just make sure to listen to his feedback. Put effort into your speeches. Make your speeches with the audience in mind, and not to just get the grade. Put effort in connecting your audience to your speech to succeed.

Professor Bartee is honestly a great man as well as a great professor. He is so helpful and willing to teach you. As speech is a required course i would take him. Be respectful, he's a great teacher and the class will be easy if you just shut up and listen. Do what is asked... not hard.

GREAT Professor! One of the best professors I have had so far, extremely energetic. He is hilarious and would make the entire class laugh. His class was my first college course ever taken and he immediately made me feel comfortable. Very interesting stories and lectures. Speech topics are easy and fun to work on. Overall very enjoyable class.

Omg I LOVE this professor, he is so nice and is always available for help. He explains exactly how to prepare your speech and what he is looking for. The best part of it is that we can talk to him like a friend so you feel confident when you present something.

He is my favorite professor that I've had out here so far! I am going to miss him and this class so much! It was lots of fun, I wish he taught other subjects so I could have him for other classes! He is amazing!

This professor is fair and is genuinely helpful. I would recommend not taking this class in the summer because if you do you'll be writing and researching a speech every week. You won't have to take a lot of notes and you won't need a book.

He is an amazing professor to take for speech, he helps you throughout the year and by the end you feel so comfortable talking in front of people. He is a really cool professor and his grading criteria its easy to get an A as long as you do all the assignments of course and there's not many.

I dreaded having to take speech and I waited until the last semester. He made this class so fun and comfortable that I really liked it. He makes the whole class become friends and its like a family. Honestly one of the best classes Ive had to take.

Professor Bartee cares about you and your experience in the class. I enjoyed him for my speech class. The only things I would say to look out for: He doesn't use Blackboard, everything he assigns or wants is said in class so you need to write it down and pay attention, and he can be particular in his grading styles so he really makes you work.

Professor Bartee cares about his students. He gives you a very clear explanation of his requirements and if you decide not to follow them then it's on you, if you fail. If English is not your first language do not worry, he doesn't grade you on your command of the English language, he wants to see how well you follow his instructions. Take him!

He gives you examples of speeches to help you write your outlines so as long as you actually do your research on the topic you will do great. We only read about 5 pages of the book, didn't use it otherwise. He is very understanding.

He encourages the class to share details about their lives and we all kind of formed a cohesive unit. It was nice because we were giving speeches to people we knew and not a big group of strangers. He is super funny and nice, but sometimes his grading criteria doesn't make a ton of sense. Just talk to him and he'll help you

Taking class with Prof. Bartee was truly delightful, loved to go to class all the time, it was the first class in the day I had to go to and he makes you want to go to class, make sure you work on the speeches, practice, and do everything based on the sample outlines he gives you in class.

Great prof. he only grades your speeches there is nothing else unless he does a check up on how far you've gotten in your speech. He grades the speeches a bit tough and if you don't do good on them you won't get an A but he is a very chill person.

Prof. Bartee is very good at what he does. He will give you the material and everything in between to succeed in the class. The book is used and readings are helpful. Bartee does grade tough on your speeches but as long as you practice and ask for help where help is needed, you will pass this class with no issues. Bartee will tell you how it is.

He is a harsh grader when it comes to having to deliver your speeches but he is a very nice and caring professor. He has made public speaking for me easier and it helps a lot that he is a tough grader because he just wants to see you succeed and be the best person and speaker you can be.

This was my favorite class this semester. Professor Bartee is really cool and strict when he needs to be. He's like the funny uncle at the cookout lol. But as long as you do your outlines right, prepare for your speeches and turn everything in on time you should pass his class with flying colors. He also grades on attendance.

Professor Bartee was hands-down the best educator I've ever had the opportunity to learn from. My semester in his class was a breeze despite the many tumultuous health circumstances I'd been battling through the last weeks. I would definitely take a class with him again!

This professor is the only professor in the world with an implant. He lost his vocal cords to throat cancer in 2020 and never stopped moving forward. This was a hard earned B but I did it. Thanks so much professor Bartee for the experience.

Professor Bartee seems to care. Is he tough? YES! But I need someone to keep me on point. It's an online course but I he gives feedback. He does stress that he does not take late assignments and let's us know in announcement post. Overall, I would tell my friends to take this class under Professor Bartee.

Professor Bartee class is great but don't turn in homework late because 50% is deducted. Group discussions is required after submitting a speech. The tests are fairly easy and there are 2 attempts. The only thing is he doesn't respond to some emails or listen to excuses but overall I would recommend him.

I'm actually in his class now. All I can say is caring. Me and some other classmates wanted to get on Rate to say if you have to take mixmode speech class, take Professor Bartee. You will see that he is stern and does not play with excuses for missing assignments or late. Take his class if you want someone caring.

Take this professor!!! He is very passionate and wants his work turned in on time. I do appreciate that. He has a no late policy which at first was tough. But if I don't turn things in on time at my job I will be fired and that's how he looks at assignments. You've paid for a class, so do the work. I would recommend this AWESOME guy.

When I walked into the classroom and saw that our professor didn't have vocal cords but the biggest personality in the world, I was sold. If he can have the courage to strand before us and be himself and not afraid, I can do anything. What a powerful and strong example he was. Prof Bartee was so much fun. I just completed the mixmode class. Take this man. I want you to know that he is hard on turning assignments in on time. But it kept me on my feet. Professor Bartee is a caring instructor with high expectations. His no-nonsense approach keeps you on track, but he makes the class engaging. Using unstuckstudy ai and the free textbook helped me stay on top of the workload.

I took mixed-mode. In person he was positive, funny, and engaging despite using a voice device due to past throat cancer. Online wasn't great: heavy readings but can find answers online, and terrible email replies&#8212;often rude, vague, hard to get actual answer. NO Honorlock. Coursework- 3 speeches, quizzes. FINAL- Written responses to 3 questions.
