Prof Bobbie is a great guy. I believe he started computing with the great pioneers. Just don't wait until the last minute to start his projects, they are a little demanding. Bottom line if you go to class and talk to him from time to time(and are competent) you will get an A.

Focus on the project. He gives a rubric for the report, give him everything he asks for. The project determines your grade and the report is what's most important since it shows what you know. Make sure you collect the data results he requests, too. For his tests, find the solutions to the book exercises on the net and read the slides.

Patrick 'The Soulslayer' Bobbie... It's like playing Demon's Souls on NG+++ with a new character. Hardest class in the curriculum BY FAR. His tests rank how hard he destroyed you, and the project will make you kill yourself. But, if you survive, you will be considered a master programmer and computer scientist, probably the next Bill Gates. GL HF.

Had him for both CS4253 (distributed computing) and CS 3243(operating systems) If you have an option take anyone else you can. If you are stuck with taking him, don't worry about grades on tests because he usually curves them about 40 points. What really determines your grade is how well written your report on the project is.

Bobbie is very hard to understand due to his lack of pronunciation, accent, low voice and what is the worst part is he SCRIBBLES all over the Powerpoints with the mouse... Epic Fail here!! I even wrote out every term in the chapters and read the chapters twice but still made a 55 on the tests. The questions hardly had anything to do with the book.

If I recall correctly this was his first year teaching CS 1301. If you want to pass this class, you're going to want to rely more on the book. His lectures are long and often use examples that contain stuff you probably won't know. Expect random quizzes over stuff you just learned and not get to do any work in class. Test are completely written.

Nice Professor, you just have to put in the amount of work required for it. Read the textbook instead of the lectures, you will get more knowledge. Try to answer the questions as simply as possible. 2 tests, 1 final, 2 homeworks. Got 100 on all without curving, it is not magic, just read the book.

Bobbie has been labeled as many things, but he's really not that bad. My advice is to TAKE HIM IN PERSON! I can't stress that enough. For some reason he acts dismissive through emails and teams, however he's willing to answer any questions in person. Just go to his lectures and read the book and you'll be fine.

Bobbie is a nice enough guy but man is this class brutal. He is very demanding of his students. Tests are all written response and he's a tough grader. If you're seriously engaged with the subject matter then I'm sure he's great. If, like me, you're not, then this class will be a slog. My advice: thoroughly read the textbook to prep for exams.

He takes class participation into account when grading tests. If you actively participate, you get better scores. 4 tests, 1 group project, 1 term paper. Tests get progressively less coherent in grading standards and test questions. Group project ends up with 1 person doing everything. You grade teammates collectively for project. You'll pass.

3 exams 25% grade each plus 1 homework and 1 research paper. Up to midterm period most students did good on exam 1 and the only hw. I know this from asking students in my class their grades. Exam 2 roles around after the withdraw period and the highest grade was around 75. Most were F's. Same thing exam 3. Seems he curved the class and paper.

Videos are recordings of an in-person lecture. The audio is terrible quality and I couldn't understand anything he was saying. The assignments are focused more on being IEEE style than content. This "asynchronous" online course has two hour windows for tests. I'm not sure how anyone finds it acceptable to charge people money for a course this bad.

His tests reflect the textbook material very clearly. This is an upper level course. He is a very monotone lecturer, and some material is outdated (saying XML is more popular than JSON). But he's a sweet guy, knows his stuff, and if you read, know OS, org and arch and networking, you'll pass.

I recommend taking the in-person section. Bobbie is a very kind a funny professor. The class is basically a combo of 3502 and 3622 so I recc taking those first. pretty beefy project but not particularly hard. If you read the textbook you're guaranteed to get an A in the course. Tests were pretty easy, but the question wording can be a lil tricky

AVOID AVOID AVOID, Dr. Bobbie structures his class horribly, for being online asynchronous having a 2h window for exams is unacceptable. His assignments and homework do not have clear instructions. He takes for ever to grade, his video lectures are impossible to understand. Take somebody else.

The class itself is easy, but you won't learn anything, as you do not really learn anything at all. The grading policies are vague and wrong half the time, but I will not they are all basically completion grades. The TA was helpful in clearing up confusion. Also, Bobbie is unwilling to provide any accommodation no matter what; keep that in mind.

Absolutely do not take this professor. The asychronous exams are taken within a two hour time window which defeats the entire purpose of an asychronous class. Do not email him on outlook he will 100% not respond to you and if he does, he will be extremely passive aggressive and tell you to move to D2L. The assignments are boring and forgettable.

Legit, just don't take this professor, he's somehow the worst when it comes to technology which is ironic considering he teaches a 4000-level CS course. He's unfamiliar with the term 'asynchronous' and will create exams that are only open for 75 minutes. And his video lectures sound like they were recorded with a 3DS. Please avoid this professor .

This class is extremely difficult and time consuming. Personally I spent 3 days no shower, no food, and glued to my laptop studying for the final just to get a 77. Failed the first test after putting in several study hours. The tests are tricky and the project takes forever to complete. It also seems that this class has so much outdated information

So he's the only one that teaches this class for CS requirement so it's almost meaningless to say stay away from this class. Took the first test, the median was a D. There was no easing into the test in form of study guide, homework, or anything that could hint at what might be on the test other than test chapters. He's terrible with tech.

I am currently taking this course and am on spring break. However he made an assignment due during spring break after poorly organizing the rest of his class. His assignments come with 2 different sets of instructions and his tests for a supposedly "asynchronous" course have 75 minute windows. He is unaccesible through email and very moody. AVOID

Horrible. The lecture videos are just in-class recordings and the audio quality is horrible and not understandable. The homework is okay, but the tests do not seem to reflect anything in the course. Points can be retroactively taken from first hw based on how you do on second hw. No matter how well you study, questions will surprise you. Avoid for last semester!

Take this professor if you want to destroy your GPA. I did not learn anything in class. If you are f2f, sometimes he will post the recordings of the lecture but don't expect to be able to understand any of it. The entire course is very exam heavy, f2f exams. I also found the questions in the exams were not relevant to the slides he posted.

He lectures are good. Don't expect to get an A in his class. Most students got C's and B's. Four multiple choice tests and two homework. I took him in-person and never had a problem getting my questions answered. He really does care about his students and making sure they learn something. Take him if you want to learn, not if you want an easy time.
