Great Professor. Good sense of humor.
He loves himself. And he just rambles on and on and on....
I think he was a really good professor---you definitely have to be self-motivated do do well in this class. Do the work and you'll do well. He's not out to fail anyone!
This can be a good class if the professor makes it better. You can learn a lot but not from the professor but from reading the text book. You should read the book before going to class because he is very unfocused and that could make you confused.
Nice Prof. he know what his teaching. It might be confuse in the first couple of class. But he let you take a paper with formules to exams. So how hard can that be !!!
What a charactor. Forget taking this class if you are asian, he blasts you for no-speakee-englis...unless you are a hot chick, then just do your assignment on Victoria Secrete...He likes to say "I" did this and "I" did that..easy A is
Annoying teacher and can't teach for his life. His class made me hate Accounting forever. He teaches 1 chapter every class - not enough time to learn this stuff! Read the book on your own - I think it was a pretty easy A.

he comes off as hard, but really eases up
very hard class
Straight forward professor who cares about student advancement. Respectful and responsive to student's questions.
if he likes you, class is ok if not it could be hell!

Dr. Casabona is by far one of the nicest teachers that I have encountered at St. John's. He's the man in my opinion, but some of my friends have conflicting views. Personally speaking if you don't read the textbook you will fail but I would recommend him.

HES ALRIGHT, HE DOESNT TEACH AT ALL BUT IF YOU TEACH YOURSEKF AND STILL FAIL, AS LONG AS YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR TRYING HE WILL GIVE YOU A DECENT GRADE.
He may go fast at times. If you get on his good side by doing your homework, studying, and participating in class, he will love you. He cut a portion of the work down. He said I did very good in the class, so I was exempt from the final and got an A!
Awesome guy, Yankee fan, just do the work and show him that you try, he'll hook you up...does go fast, but I got an A so I must have done something right
Extremely bad prof. If u take him make sure u put time aside to go to the acct lab. You have to get on his good side to get a fairly decent grade. He cannot teach, goes very fast and is very moody. His T.A is his B*tc*. won't get help there.
He doesn't know how to teach!
THAT GUY CAN TEACH. DO NOT I REPEAT "DO NOT" TAKE HIM. YOU MIGHT NOT FAIL BUT YOU WON'T LEARN ANYTHING AND GET A LOW GRADE.
sucks~!! don't take it. he's an idiot.
he comes off hard but gets much easier. you wont learn just by going to class. you have to self study and read everything and DO THE HW. he isnt the greatest prof but you can get an A if you READ AND STUDY
I took him for 2 semesters and luved him. As long as you sit in the first few rows of the room and he knows ur name he will like u. Being liked by him is an easy way to get an A. Also, his reviews r exactlly what is on the midterm and final.
He acts mean, but he's actually a nice guy. Get on his good side (be a girl, or a Yankees fan, and participate in class). Make sure he knows your name. You have to do the work. He tells you exactly what is on the midterm and what he expects for the paper. There are no suprises in this class.
Be ready for work and lots of it. Group project? Make sure you team up with someone who you can get along with. Presentation? Don't go up first, you'll get questioned like crazy! Otherwise, interesting professor, unless you're not a Yankee's fan!
I took both of his first accounting classes. This guy is full of it. Goto class for attendance, study only from the TEXT BOOK, sleep in class. I got an A in both of his classes.
READ THIS:if u r acct major DO NOT TAKE.He SUCKS!Cant teach to save his life, nice guy though.Easy to cheat on tests, both classes the entire class had a system to help each other, not b/c we`re stupid but u learn absolutely NOTHING! READ BOOK if actually trying to learn, otherwise sleep, random attendan
a very unhelpful teacher!

you will learn a lot from his project
This class is hard and it requires a lot of work. The good thing about it is that the final will be replaced by a project presentation. For the mid-term you will know exactly what questions will be asked. If you pay attention you will learn but don't take it if you're not interested.
you will learn a lot from the project
I actually thought this guy was great. He comes off as hard and obnoxious but he really he is a nice guy and is really funny. You will learn alot from the project and he doesn't grade that hard. I recommend him if you have thick skin and makes sure you don't admit you're a Met fan
Fun professor. jumps around a bit in his lectures, but is willing to help you get through the class. the material is difficult but, with a lot of application, you will do fine. The project is where you will learn everything. No down time during this semester.
funny guy but does not know how to teach for his life... Half the class was lost....class is already super hard but a professor cant teach makes it even harder... not very encouraging.. tells you when you ask for help... maybe you should switch to finance or liberal arts.. not available for help after class
Funny guy, good teacher. He's a fair guy and very helpful. He is definitely on your side.
Very confusing prof. Mid-term is 50% of the grade and is not representative of person's knowledge of the subject. Dr. Casabona is a nice person, but very all over the place, which is horrible way to teach Accounting. A lot of people in my class got grades below their expectations.
Cost is a tough course and Casabona doesn't really make it any easier. Very lenient and funny but only a so-so teacher. Tends to ramble and lose his train of thought, sometimes seems as confused as we are. The good thing is he grades fairly. If you can take Gornik, take her. Otherwise Casabona's your best bet.
Very hard in the begining, turned to be a much easier grader. i did learn something from him, but he is very fast in terms of teaching.
Specifically know balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flow, how to use ratios formulas, P/E factors, permanent, transitory, & valuation irrelevant for midterm, which is 45% of overall grade. Doing project now which is last 55% along with presentation. Make sure you interact in class to get extra credit. He is a big fan of Yankee's.
You'll never be bored in this class! He can't really explain things well (but he tries his best) - so read chps and try to get it on ur own. He can seem scary, but if u talk to him u'll see he's a really nice person (always tryin to help)..make sure he sees ur TRYING and knows u, and should have a good grade...
Bad teacher but an easy grader. as long as you show effort you should do fine.
He is old school. He takes charge and isn't afraid to tell you how things are going to be. If you say somthing stupid or waste time he will be quick to call you out. This bothers a lot of SJU students who just want a easy go through the motions class (grow a pair). There can be no doubt that he truly cares about you actually learning something.
i was pretty sure i would fail this class but he gave me a c! i know nothing about accounting but he pretty much let me slide, he does not fail anyone and if you come to class youre pretty much guaranteed a c or better.
Nice guy but he seems more like an administrator than a professor. Class is heavily based on textbook and homework assignments. The mandatoriy financial report ended up being screwy because many websites we had to use were outdated. He does curve, though.
Definitely not the guy to take for accounting! Doesn't know how to teach at all, so unclear. All he does is babble about irrelevant topics. Suck up and he will like you however. Drop him while you can. Only good thing I can say is that he DOES NOT FAIL ANYONE HE GIVES EVERYONE A C!!
Definitely not an easy professor, and may seem totally out of it at times, but its mostly the department that makes the class hard. Does his best to help students out in any way possible. You need to go to class and do the homework, but its college so its to be expected. If you're willing to work hard and get rewarded for it, take this guy.
He is not a bad prof as some may say! If you are a good student, you will do well. I I walked away with an A- only because I flopped on the second test (personal reasons). But I did well on the first test and final. There are 2 exams, one final, and a project. It does seem to be a self teach class but read the text, understand it, and get an A.
fun prof as long as youre a do the min. amt required in this class, which isnt a lot. basically you have to read the chapters one chptr per 3-4 days and do the hw which is easy b.c its online, n then he reviews in class. take him if youre a good student looking for an easy A but not if you expect to do nothing & still do well
One Of the best professors at St.John's. He really wants his students to learn. Very dedicated. You will never be bored for any of his lectures. He is a very funny guy, with distinguished talents. He explains the material very well. highly recommend:)
I had professor Cassabona for my two accounting classes. The course is not EASY, but the great thing is- you definitely have control of your grade. All homework examples are what appear on the exam, so just do the home-work assignments before the tests and you'll do fine. Casabona is a great guy! Have spare gum if you want to earn brownie points.JK
Very good professor. Just don't be intimidated by his fast & intense lectures and sarcasm. His exams are very focused on one subject and his project is fun and good for learning. If he knows you are working hard, he will help you. Just take his class seriously.
You have to understand that this is a hard course to begin with - Casabona doesn't make it any easier. A much better admin than he is a professor...Nonetheless, his class is downright entertaining and he rarely fails anyone (only those in his doghouse) - make sure he knows who you are and that you're giving it 100%, and you'll do fine
You need to understand one thing: You need to actually do all the hw and read the chapters with interest or else this class isn't for you. I thought this class was very very easy. I would take him again but unfortunately he doesn't teach 2339. Got an A in his class. Did all his hw and read all the chapters. Class is interesting and he his funny!
Great professor, had him for Intermediate Accounting back in 1985 (yeah that's right!); learned a ton. (He?s one of the reasons I passed the CPA exam; hope he?s done so as well). Do your work and listen and you'll learn lots, which will help you in the future. Otherwise, don't waste your time and find a different major.
I love Casabona. He's hilarious & knows his stuff. Doesnt make you do hw & helps you out on tests. I wish I could have taken him for the 2nd accnting cus he's awesome.
he is very funny n if u dont get good grade its cuz he gave u CPA questions on the exam but he gave u huge curve like 10-16 points. his exam is hard but he gave u thorough review for the exam but sumtimes he went off topic. make sure he likes u n knows ur name he will definitely gave u an A for sure! 4 this class if u wana get A u take him
Gives you the answers to the hw. if you do them and figure out how it works then the tests are simple. funny guy,but sometimes has an attitude. Recommended if you're trying to get through accounting.
You have to do work for this class Go everyday read chapter beforehand and listen to him and take good notes do the hw practice practice you'll be fine go to tutoring if you need it - not an essay class but it can be if you don't slack off and do the work consistently
i really didnt enjoy this class. i had to teach myself accounting from scratch and it was the hardest class ive ever taken. he is easier than some other professors because he gives you HW answers and casestudy answers so really you just have to do well on tests, do the wiley hw, and READ the textbook because thats the only way youll actually learn
He is a great professor, make sure he knows your name, gives extra credit for class participation and "tutoring" other classmates and gives you an A as long as you try. DEFINITELY take! I took him for both my first accountings and plan to take him for financial statements as well!
He is horrible! The class is extremely hard! Do NOT take him guys seriously!
I had to drop the class because the midterm killed me. He was an extremely tough professor and I found it hard to follow along in class. I had 2 tutors and still to avail. I'm sure he is easier than some accounting professors but if you are not good accounting avoid him, or try to get a good tutor otherwise you are not going to pass.
Hard teacher. Get your homework done before class and participate a lot of you want an A. If you participate, and he knows your name, you will get an A. Good luck!
Casabona is an interesting person to say the least. He is often off topic discussing the pope or the election so early on I built up a way to tune out his voice. However, he is a really nice guy and really wants to help his students. If you do the assigned HW and read the textbook you will get an A.
Nice guy, a bit eccentric which makes class somewhat doable.. very long lectures and not too enjoyable. But also very manageable to do well prepare well for midterm and final and should be fine..
unprofessional, not willing to work with you.
He can be intimidating at times. His tests are hard and count for a lot and there is a lot of homework. He jokes around a lot, and I do believe he cares for his students, but you need to participate in class so he learns your name. You need to pay close attention in class and make sure you read over whats next before class.
I did not like this professor at all. Only take this class if you are prepared to teach yourself from the textbook throughout the entire semester. His lectures are very boring and he reads straight off the powerpoint slides.
I did not learn anything from him at all. He reads the slides and won't use black/white board to show examples, he only READS and explains ORALLY. He expects you read through the chapters before going to class. Be prepared, you basically have to learn by yourself. Not helpful at all. Never take him again.
He "teaches" by reading straight off of the power point but his lessons rely heavily on the assumption that the student not only read the chapters before hand but, also fully comprehended the material on their own. You have to teach yourself the material in order to pass, otherwise you will do poorly and be completely lost in the classroom.
Not an easy class, be prepared to teach yourself most of time. If you put the work and effort in, he will definitely see that and consider it. He curves the tests and hands out extra credit points like he's Oprah. He makes the classes fun and cracks jokes. He's one of the only professors I knew that cares about his students and helps them do well.
Professor Casabona is really cool, he really cares about his students. Don't get me wrong, this class is hard, like hard hard. You're going to have to do a lot of studying and work on your own to do good. But make sure you participate A LOT and he will love you. Although its hard, he really wants you to do good, reach out to him and he will help!
This is a real college-level class which is probably why most people don't like it; it's work and he expects you to put in work (9 hours/week outside of class). Participate in class so he knows your name and outline the chapters before class and you'll do fine.
In the beginning, you might not like his class because it is very hard. it is not an easy A class, you need to study a lot, but you will realize you know more than the acc student who had only taken one acc course. read the ppt before class and study, go to his office hour, he really does care about his students a lot, he made a lot of jokes as wel
So Casabona is really a great guy who truly cares about his students. He will seem intimidating at first but will lighten up once he gets to know everyone. 2 exams and a final with 25 HW assignments on Wiley. You will have to put in a lot more time than other classes since the material is not very easy. He just reads off slides so take good notes!
Casabona gets a lot of bad reviews but I honestly think it's because he teaches a hard class. You've gotta study and go to class, study everything you can! This is two classes in one so theres a lot of material to cover. He gives a 10 point curve on every test and the final wasn't cumulative. Also he gives extra credit from in class participation.
He's really not terrible. I am scoring him a bit lower only because he doesn't adjust his class at all for kids who have never taken accounting before. You don't need the textbook, but it is helpful for really getting the content. Study hard for the midterm. Cases are super easy and final wasn't terrible. Super nice, so don't be scared to take him.
material it self wasnt bad but he was bad at teaching, its a class where you basically teach your self because you wont understand anything unless you read the text book and do the homework on wiley,he talks about trump alot which was a bit uncomfortable cause he thinks trump is genius. 2 midterm N 1 final with 22 hw on wiley. A chapter per class
This guy is hilarious. I'm not gonna lie though, if I didn't take him during the semester where we switched to online halfway through the year,I don't think I would've done that well in the class since I could look up answers for all the tests.
imagine him like your funny grandpa you wish you had. he's hilarious and loves to interact w/ his students. says we have to study for his class for 12 hours, but i don't. he's that professor who gets mad at you for not understanding the subject he's been teaching for 10+ years, but he jokes with you. wileyplus homework is easy and tests are fair
Takes attendance. Always talked about how after class it was time for his martini. Lots of hw but nothing to difficult. Always says he loves his students and wished he could meet us all in person. He wants you to make his class a priority but i had more important classes like act sci.
