Stay Far Far Far Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay Far Far Far Far Away!!!!!!!!!!
couldn't have said it better myself.
Needs to return to college to increase his knowledge base. Should take some education classes on how to become a effective teacher.
I thought he did an excellent job of making sure everything was understood. Has extra credit field trips. Tests are hard, but if you take tons of notes and study, you will do fine. He is extremely fair with grading. The class does get a little repetitive sometimes (don't ask too many questions!)
Very knowledgeable, will help you if needed, field trips are a blast. Tests are fairly large but most of the questions are from the same homework you turned in the week before and pulled straight from the book. Learned a lot.
Not very hard, but not entirely easy. You really have to pay attention and show up to class, take notes. Has extra credit trips which are a great time. Tests are multiple choice, about 40% of the questions you've already seen from the homework. Repeats himself A LOT, so don't ask questions.
As one of the other comments stated...he repeats himself a lot. But this helps to get everything instilled into the mind. He gives students many opportunities to excel. You must go to class everyday though, or you'll miss out on important stuff.
The class was more difficult than I thought. But, if you take lots of class notes and show up everyday, you'll do fine. He gives several opportunities for extra credit which helps. Don't be fooled, you've really got to study for the tests!
i don't know what everyone is talking about this was one of my best teachers, the field trips are great and help you out, gives everyone a chance to learn he was great, fun and fair, go with an open mind
Major tree hugger, with a dislike for Americans of european descent (he's Canadaian and yes, white). Famous for his rants against Bush, the EPA,etc. That said, he does teach you things that you didn't know and are mostly interesting, if you ask questions he is sometimes uninformed and impatient.
You are better off taking both his lecture and lab class. The lab is a slower pace and he will go over things that you don't quite understand in lecture during lab. He will even assist with homework if you ask. If you go to class, do the homework and study the homework, this class is not hard.
Cake-walk lab. You're NEVER in there the full 3 hours; has field trips in lieu of classroom work.
The class is not hard if you take the chance to study..A lot of his answers are in his homework packet for the test.It was overall an enjoyable interesting class. The LAB..very easy,90% field trips.
(Summer course) Easy but VERY boring and repetitive. Most stuff he talked about was in the book. Cut out 2/3 of material for summer, warned that normal semester requires a lot more work and a big term paper.
he knows his stuff liket he back of his hand
the best damn class i've ever took it was also the hardest class! but this enthusiactic teacher gets off to nature lol
Its a good class. The tests can be difficult but about a third of the homework questions go word for word on the tests. Attend class he takes attendence and awards you for it. gives extra credit field trips and you can earn up to 70 points extra credit.
He's a good teacher, his tests are hard and he will not admit it when his questions are not fair. Really when 20 out of 36 miss a question, the question is bad. Too much pride and liberalism
Fun,Fun,Fun! He is truly creative in his teaching. Lab class was easy.. FIELD TRIPS,A FEW LAB EXERCISES,SLIDE TEST, AND ATTENDANCE. I reccomend him to stay as fun as he is. Keep up with the good work.
If you do the homework and study then you can pull a B in the class.
He is class was the most interesting and exciting class since I have been in Nevada. I have learned so much. Test are tough, but by forming study groups makes his tests easier. The lab is awesome, exciting and filled with lifetime information.
Has 3 exams and 3 homeworks most of the homework questions are on the test. offers extra credit through field trips. never lets you out early. tests are pretty challenging. very liberal tree hugger. lectures are long and about boring subjects like weather fronts and anticyclones, i got an A in the class but it was pretty tedious.
He has three big homework assienment, three big hard test, and lots of extra credit. The homework is easy but his test are hard and tricky...
He's a real fair and nice guy, you can really learn alot from this class. Take time and do the homework, you will get an A in the class. He also talks alot about traveling and other interesting STUFF>.....
Rick is a great teacher 3 test 3 homework and field trips. If you do the homework, you'll do well on the test. Field trips are very helpful. Never let you out early and attendance is very important.
this teacher is the best i ever ran into in my three years of college. if you go to class you should be good for the semester, he also offers a lot of extra credit if you do mess up in the exams.
Rick was the greatest! If you are dreading taking some mandatory science... then take Rick! He is so enthusiastic about everything he teaches, you can't help but get excited with him! He also takes fieldtrips to local hiking destinations... very cool! He genuinely loves nature and wants to share it with everyone!
I took the class and the lab he made it fun and easy. I was worried about taking a lab but it was the best lab ever did not have to stay the whole time went on field trips. Tests were easy he went over all the information in class. Wants everyone to do good.
he be the bomb i took him a feww years back but i lerned so much and the field trips are the best
Great teacher. Yes he is hard no doubt, but it is well worth it. Nothing a good studying student can't handle. I can't wait to take his lab. If you are interested in actually learning, take his class!
He is awesome!!!He is so cool! the field trips are very fun and his lecture class is very interesting. His notes are very understandable. I HIGHLY recommend him!
Great teacher! There are only 2 homework assigments, and 2 tests! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! All you need to do is show up and take notes and you can recieve an A.
Awesome class and professor, you will have to read the textbook, but you only have 2 homework assignments which you work on at home and only 2 exams. He even gives an extra credit test which definitely helps. Actually takes attendance, expects participation. Gives extra credit, curves tests! Expect to study alot! One of my fav. prof, very helpful.
i took his summer class for environmental science. it was farily easy. as long as you as you show up and pay attention every day you'll do fine. you HAVE to read the textbook assigned because majority of his questions are straight from the reading. anything he talks or rights on the board you should definately keep a note of. Use EXTRA Credit Opps!
He is a really good teacher. ITs easy as long as you do the 2 homework assignments which is just 2 packets straight from the book and he gives you a month to do each. Test isn't hard as long as you read the book and take notes. If you show up for class early he goes over the homework and basically gives out answers
Highly Recomended!!Great teacher! Very knowledgeable and good at explaining. Not just your normal boring class. 104 Lab is awesome too!
This class was challenging, but quite an adventure! His tests are kind of hard, but I learned a great deal about geography and the world around me.A truly dedicated professor!
This class is hard. Gives a lot of extra credit that can help on final exams. He is very helpful when you have question on homework. There is field trips, not mandatory.
Nice guy, very helpful if you ask. He repeats himself a lot so there isn't a ton of information going out each class and everything he repeats is an important piece of information. Go on the field trips, the extra credit is awesome and sometimes he'll give additional extra credit for doing certain things during the field trip itself. Read the book.
This is a very interesting and informative class. The exams are hard because the questions will have several questions within one question. He is a major tree hugger and a very big liberal / hippie, though he doesn't rant on about hippie stuff too much. I got a D, and I put a lot of time in the class. He said you need to read each chapter 3x...
I just started taking his summer course and all I can say is that its going to be the longest four weeks of my life. All he does is go on and on about stupid hiking stories. He can easily let class out early but no he likes to tell us his stories. He is not understanding at all. Where are all the nice professors at?
This class is very difficult. It requires a LOT of reading and notes. He is a nice guy and will answer questions thoroughly if you don't understand. Be prepared to read a LOT!
this is a fairly easy class. everything is basic memorization. attendance isnt mandatory, but i suggest you go to his lectures. if you do, never have the read the book. tests/homework can be confusing sometimes but you'll pass.
He is extremely into his work and loves what he does... There are many feild trips you can take to help your grade. The syllabus is 50 pages and I think that speaks for itself. You have to show up to every class. He is willing to explain you just have to care to ask. TESTS ARE VERY VERY HARD!
His lab class is extremely easy!!!! He is a totaly different teacher in his Lab I promise. The lab never goes for the whole 3 hours and most of the class is spent going on field trips and even they don't go over 3 hours long. I took his GEO 103 and 104 this semester and I can't believe that the lab was so easy cause the 103 was extremely hard!
I am horrible in Science and still got an A. He makes everything understandable. If you do the reviews, which are the only 2 homework assign., your should get an A. The 2 test's are based alot on lecture's, so come to class if you want an A.
soo interesting class. the teacher is really good and always prepared. it is a lot of information and reading, hard tests and homework but helpful and interesting subject. if you want to learn something take his class he is a great teacher
Fantastic teacher! One of the best. Large volume of material that is difficult but he is super helpful and you can gather points on the homework and large amounts of extra credit if you are smart so that you can lose them on the tests and still get a great grade.
he is a really easy teacher you only have 2 homework to turn in for the semester. If you dont want to stuggle in a science class you have to take his class
He's such an awesome teacher! And he has great hikes. I wasn't really that interested in geography but he made it so interesting. He's helpful, too, and really has a passion for his subject. It shows!
He is entertaining, and overall a good teacher. His homework and tests however are ridiculous. His questioning and answering system is frequently confusing. The extra credit assignments will make up for that though, so do as much of it as you can if you want an A in the class.
Great professor with a passion for his subject! He makes it as easy as possible with study guides, in class test reviews, and extra credit. You do need to study and do the extra credit, and then A's are possible.
What a great class! He's so passionate about this subject and it reflects in his teaching. Show up to class, take lots of notes, go on the hikes, form study groups, attend the midterm reviews and ask for help. You'll do fine as long as you take some time to study. There's no cumulative final so it makes this class much more appealing.
Great teacher! A little goofy, but fun and interesting. He's a great guy, and we've actually become friends since I took his class last semester. The homework and tests are a little tricky because of his critical thinking questions, but if you go on the hikes for extra credit getting an A in this class should not be a problem.
This was one of the best classes I have taken at CSN these past two years. Professor is very knowledgeable. This class is a Lab and is more hands on than other lab classes. Professor Clennan is very helpful and makes the class seem fun and exciting rather than your usual boring lab class. Would take him for every geography course!
the content is hard and complex but he makes it as easy as possible> good teacher
He's a great teacher!
Great teacher! Non-traditional lab class was awesome if you like the outdoors. Hikes were lots of fun and informative. Barely used workbook, very little time spent in class. Very few assignments, just show up to class and go on the hikes and you'll do fine.
Its a class u actually can use in the world! His a great teacher.
I had this professor for my geog lab and I knew from day 1 I should have taken him for my lecture class also. 95% of the time your on a field trip, very understanding & no final. He's extremely helpful and does his best to explain until it clicks. as long as you go to class you got an A.
teacher was cool, usually stumbles with exams and homework, but overall easy and interesting.
Great prof! The info he teaches is challenging & interesting. He loves what he does and tries to make it as exciting for everyone else. Tests and homework aren't too difficult as long as you study hard! He has reviews before the tests so you know exactly what will be on them. FYI: Study hard for the second test! Its the hardest out of all of them!
He has so much info. to teach you. Just study a little bit and you will get your A.
This is the lab class. The easiest class i have ever taken. The only thing you do is going hiking to Mt.Charleston,Red Rock, etc. There were a couple of easy(he helps)exercises and super super easy"test".Great professor. Not demanding at his lab class.Take him!!!
This class is not as easy as his lab one. There is a lot of material to read and to learn. Professor offers extra credit by going hiking with him.Take this opportunity,it will help you at the end to get a good grade. There are 3 exams,no quizzes,no homework.
COOL GUY
Tests and homework are challenging but not impossible. Lectures are NOT boring and you better be there and pay attention. Great teacher, you can tell he loves to teach and he loves his subject.
He loves to teach, but his tests are hard and confusing. Don't ask a question that's not in the book, cuz he won't know. He'll say he doesn't know and moves on. Not I'll check and get back. Don't waste time emailing either. That answer will be "Ask your study group" or ask someone else. Listen to the lectures, take tons of notes, hope for the best
Best lab and teacher ever! Class consists of hikes, 2 exercises (dont buy lab manuel)a simple slide quiz and 1 2min presentation! He loves his subject and you can tell. The hikes are fun too! Not your ordinary lab or teacher! 100% recommend him! (and ur rarely to never there 3 hours)
This class is NOT for the lazy. Love prof. clennan! He has a passion for his subject and he's funny. Beware that if u dont TAKE NOTES, attend class, AND STUDY HARD you'll probli fail! I had to work hard, but i've never learned as much! One of my favorite teachers!
16 weeks in class: be warn, his class is not for the lazy. You are kept constantly working either by studying for the next test or doing one of the three 50 questions homework. His question style is a little tricky at first, but once you get it; you got it. Encourages study groups, which is a great idea if you want to do well.
This class is awful! His tests are 50 questions and everyone of them are trick questions. Even if you go to class and study you will not get good grades on the test or in his class. He has extra credit field trips. If you dont go on atleast two of them you will fail. The field trips are 5 hour hikes in the mountains, or camping over night. Yuck!
Professor Clennan may like the subject he teaches but he does not seem to like his students. His tests are extremely hard and count for most of your grade. Even if you know the material in the test, it's hard to anser correctly. This is due to his tricky wording. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
I can relate to the two comments below, this teacher is something else. He lectures good, never a dull moment, but his homework and exams are bs. If you do not go on the highest point given field trip(s) you will have a hard time passing. The 2nd exam was ridicious, over half the class failed it, average was a 68%
WORST EVER!!! Took him for GEOG 103 & had to for 117 since he's the only Charleston campus class. Unless you go to his early 7AM study group and are NEVER absent, you might have a shot at a passing grade. Takes attendance but says it doesn't count. Don't believe him! RUN RUN FAST AND HARD AWAY From this class and professor!!
great teacher! very entertaining and straight-foward. tells you exactly what you need to pass his tests (those complaining about difficulty probably never opened the textbook)didnt really cover that much material, but the stuff he did he went over in great detail. he also has alot of extra credit opportunities
Lectures interesting. HW & tests are hard. Quest. are complex need to choose the most correct. Record lectures and type up everything. ESPECIALLY the test review. The smallest comment can be a test quest. I got an A in the class w/extra credit.
Had him for 117 a couple years back. I feel that he has changed. Not as clear on teaching as i remember. Test are hard. Overall average professor, nothing to go crazy over
He is the best professor I've had. He makes his class interesting. Book was hard, but his explanations are good. He repeats himself; that gives you time to write everything. All he tells you is important, expect it on the exam! You still have to read the book. If you need help and try to work hard, he really tries to help you too.
Fall Semester. Really nice and knowledgeable teacher:) Funny stories. FIELD TRIPS- including a camping trip to Zion for fall semester students(optional) Tricky test questions. Study hard! I totally recommend him:))
Easiest class you will EVER take!! Be in shape because this class is ALL about FIELD TRIPS(5!) Only 2 HW assignments from the manual. DON'T buy it! Barrow the lab manual from someone or library and make copies of the two assignments. Fun class if you love the outdoors:)) Btw! class is short WHEN he lectures.
Awesome teacher. Very helpful. Excepts you to study material and be to class on time. You will go on hike feild trips that he rewards extra credit for. HW and Tests can be challenging if you dont put in the time to study. I dont suggest taking if you have other stressful classes. Thats what i did and i have a D. & that includes 70 points extra cred
Great professor! Really cares about his students' success in his class. Gives TONS of extra credit opportunities. Three exams (he splits his mid-term up into 2 tests, and there's a final exam) on 3 chapters each. Three homework assignments, also on 3 chapters each. No quizzes, no projects, no papers. Go to class and study = easy A.
This is an awesome class. If you study your lecture notes and watch out for trick questions, you will do fine. His lectures are entertaining and very easy to take notes on, and you can go on cool hikes for extra credit.
His lab is SUPER easy & if u volunteer to help with the slides u dont have to take his test. His lecture class tho was way hard. His test were crazy confusing & NOT easy. he shows us the average of a test from all of his classes &it was a 68.4 which he thinks is ok you HAVE 2take notes & show up 2class. 2get a good grade u MUST do some extra credit
He's a good professor. Know's his stuff, will answer any and all questions you have. He's kind of weird, but funny. Not interested in Meteorology which is the class I took, definitely would recommend him if you are.
Very helpful teacher! He will try as hard as he can to get students through the class! The tests do require some hard thinking though.
The lectures were very informative and entertaining at times. He offers lots o extra credit if you go on hikes, which I recommend you do. This class is lots of work, but if you put effort you'll pass. Study hard especially for the 2nd test, as it's the hardest one in the whole semester. Overall enjoyed this class a lot.
Pat is very knowledgeable and has passion for geography. Class CAN be difficult, if you let it. Take DETAILED notes and you?ll be fine. Attend 2 field trips b/c you?ll need the extra points! I recommend taking his lab with his lecture class b/c its very informative/fun. First exam = EASY, midterm = HARD, and final = EASY!! So study, study, study!!
Very hard class! Pay attention and go to class and you'll be fine. Professor Clennan is really helpful of letting you know where you stand in his class grade wide. TAKE PART IN THE EXTRA CREDIT FIELD TRIPS! you will need them! Taking his lab class in the fall. Great Professor! Very knowledgeable and helpful
One of the best professors I have ever had! The class isn't very easy. There is a lot of memorizing, but he is so passionate and makes the class very interesting. I highly recommend him!!
Very nice professor, made the class interesting. However, the course was difficult. Faint-hearted and lazy students need not apply. I was a Soldier in the Army, and my military experience helped me remain discplined and pass the course with an A. I enjoyed his course and will take him again in the future if the need arises.
Clennan is wonderful. He draws out everything he teaches, which helps me learn. I studied hard for the "hardest" test and got an A. I work 4 days a week and have other summer classes and am able to keep up. I want to take more classes with him even though I don't have to. He loves what he teaches and it shows, which makes me love it, too.
Clennan is a great teacher. I recommend his classes to everyone. he knows his subject well and explains it in detail and with pictures. reading and studying are a must, but makes it so much easier to keep up. love this professor!
He is a very cool teacher and person. His jokes are dry and witty, but funny. Some of the jokes are corny but some are actually LOL funny. It's hard to get a good grade in this class, but it's hard to fail if you do all of the work.Be nice to him..he has a heart of gold. His tests can be a little tricky sometimes VERY hard to get a perfect score
BEST SCIENCE TEACHER EVER! Clennan kept me absorbed in the material & fascinated w/ the subject matter THE ENTIRE SEMESTER. He is fair & clear about what he expects. Naturally, its a difficult topic so if you're not willing to put in the time & effort then find a teacher who won't push you & challenge you. I'd take this class again just for fun!
Physical Geography should be called Earth Science. Class was a bit hard but the information was very clear and lectures were out of the book. All exams were multiple choice. Don't take this class if you are not going to attend regularly because the notes and lectures are extremely important! Show up and take GOOD NOTES.
Very fun exciting and exciting Professor! You have to work hard, pay attention and make sure to read your text book!! However the class is fun! people keep on saying Clennan is hard, he really isn't at all, most likely the people who think he is hard did not even open their text book! you MUST follow up with reading. Funny dude!!
This professor is exuberant with passion for his subject. He is crystal clear on everything. He works very hard to make sure his students understand everything he is teaching, and so taking his tests took some studying but it was easy to take. The way he teaches puts it in a way that you will not forget. There are extra credit field trips.
Professor Clennan is a great instructor. His tests can be confusing at first but if you know the material then you will do well. He teaches very clearly. If its important he repeats it twice. Your notes are important. I took this class at 8 in the morning and I was still able to pay attention. This has been one of my favorite classes.
Loved this class! The tests do require loads of studying but this was such a fun class. He has four fieldtrips, two are day trips, two are over night, all to beautiful places. It may seem a bit iffy at first but they are really fun and lets you get to know your classmates quite well. I highly recommend this prof if you want to take Geography! :)
I learned so much in this class! more than i've ever learned in any other class. The professor is very knowledgeable about his subject and extremely passionate, this helps keep the class interesting. I studied soo much for my tests, mu husband always had to help me study. If you're taking this class you need to be dedicated. i highly recommend him!
Not recomended for people with kids. His times for "help" and the field trips won't work with you having to take kids to school. He flat out told me he doesn't have time before/after class, but come in when it's convinient for him. Not very helpful.
By far an annoying teacher. He thinks he's funny, he's NOT. He goes way too fast, doesn't really care if you get the info or not. Some of his "extra credit" consisit of staying the night, which isn't fair to those who have a family or work on the weekends. All I can say is BEWARE test are too complicated!Takes it too serious, it's not my major.
Excellent teacher, his field trips are really cool and necessary if you want an A in the class. Went on three out of the 4 of them and they were just awesome. You need to study and take notes to pass and do not miss a class. He goes over the information clearly and gives you what you need to pass.
I loved this class! thought it was very interesting! The course is difficult, but he makes it easy to understand. You must attend class everyday and take good notes.
Professor Clennan is very straightforward. Attendance is mandatory and you will lose points on your grade if you miss or are tardy a lot. His lectures are very straightforward and he lectures using the book, but not strictly from the book which is why you need to attend and pay attention. Homework is easy. Tests are difficult, because phrasings.
I really liked this teacher.i have3 science classes with him and my lab and i enjoyed all of them.Patrick is an excellent and enthusiastic science teacher and he makes his class as fun Any science class can be.he is already helpful and very friendly.i highly recommend him tour your science credits. I would gladly take his classes again.
I took his geog 103 class last year. He made the class way way more difficult than it should be. 4 trips and all of them are hard work. Climbing mountains and driving for hours. Sure it can be fun. But the test is so confising and Also is worth so much credits. That u can't bring it up with those trips. They are pretty much worthless.
Warning warning!!!!! Do not take him. He is horrible. With those confusing tests and useless road trips.
LETS BE HONEST Do your homework... I really like him as a person he's very passionate about his lectures! Esay grade just dont slack off... TAKE HIS ZION TRIP IT WAS AMAZING :)
I absolutely loved this class!all those people saying his tests are tricky.. the teacher tells you plenty of times before you take the test the way the questions are put together.. also his review practically gives you the answers to the test. If your not lazy TAKE HIM! you will actually learn something!
OMG his trip was good, because he is really passionate. the only thing you need to do is STUDY, STUDY and STUDY
He was an eh professor. Not the worst, but not the best. His tests are extremely hard and if you don't do one of his several "study techniques" he automatically thinks that's why you failed the test. I wouldn't take him or this class, not very fun.
Great professor, very good classes, and great field trips. The tests are hard but he helps you with the grades. I recommend take the class
Rick is hands-down, the best. He loves what he does. I took his lecture and lab in the same semester (good idea). Hiking is mandatory in his lab class and optional for the lecture. He gives notes on a PowerPoint and that's all you need to study. He's funny, upbeat, and understanding. The class is not difficult if you take notes and go on a hike.
Ok, he is actually a good professor and a nice man. However, if this is not your major or you are looking for easy classes for science, this class is NOT for you! His class is extremely hard and you have to put more effort that any other classes!
This was a very fun class and the professor is really fun as well, and helpful. Come to class, pay attention, take notes, read your text and study and it's an easy A. He does extra credit field trips through out the semester so you can earn more points. I fully enjoyed his class.
One of the best teachers I've had in a while--and I've had some great teachers. He's demanding, but easy if you try. Do watch out for the tricky wording on tests--my only problem with him. His lab class is simply amazing, so do take it! Field trips with little to no tests/assignments.
Clennan's class is one you won't regret taking. Go to his lectures, they are informing and he uses a lot of his own words and examples on the tests which help a lot. SOO many extra credit opportunities. GO ON THE FIELD TRIPS! I thought it wouldn't be fun but they are. Take good notes and go to class and it should be easy sailing.
You HAVE to: study the text, your notes (from lectures), AND your homework. You should be fine if you do these things, but if you're lazy like me, you won't get a high grade. Aside from that, I love this guy: old-skool guy, old-skool lectures. I could listen to him teach geography all day - he's SO crystal-clear & obviously loves the subject.
This is my 2nd time taking Professor Clennan! He's such a great teacher! His lectures are Crystal clear it honestly can't get any easier ... study class notes and the hw & you'll be fine for the tests (2) .. go to class every day& sit In the front! :)
This guy LOVES his work. He is full of examples from his world travels, & is a very interesting guy. His TESTS are impossible though! Multiple choice that are very complex/ overlapping, and true/false w/ 2-3 statements to each question, leaving you to identify 2-3 components before answering each question. Study/ don't miss class & u may get a C!
This teacher has inspired me to take more science classes. He is great and the class was overall easy. If you show up to class and take notes you will ace the exams.Plus his review before exams give you all the answers. Field trips were amazing!! I love this teacher and wish I could take him for all my science classes!
Awesome instructor! It's obvious he loves job; he honestly wants to make his students see the world from another perspective. His tests are challenging, but very very fair, and he's up front about his expectations and his class structure. He leads field trips every semester for extra credit (hikingcamping, etc). Inspirational!
I loved his Weather class so much, I took his Geography class next! I recommend him to anyone who asks me; he is an enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable instructor who genuinely cares about making a positive impact on his students. Quite a character, too!
Here's the thing, Prof. Clennan really likes to teach. He's the guy that will say, "don't get up yet, we have 2 mins left of class." His homework is easy if you do it with a classmate. His tests are confusing, because he words things funny. It's not a *super hard class, but studying is mandatory. There are no assignments, just 3 tests3 homework.
This is Prof. Clennan's physical geography lab. Basically, you go on hikes and look at some pictures. That's about it. There are two small assignments and a hike every other weekend, but those are during class times, so it fits into your schedule easily. The hikes aren't tough, some of them are actually pretty cool. I recommend this easy lab.
He teaches from start to finish, but it's so interesting and he always has relevant, often humorous stories to share. There are 4 field trip options which are extra credit. Write down everything said in class and the tests are easy. 3 tests and 3 homework assignments. He made this class so interesting, I want to take him again!
This teacher is one of the best I have had! He knows his information and makes it easy to understand! There are 3 tests and 3 hw assignments that are easy as long as you take good notes in class. The tests are easy as long as you study the notes & hw. He gives extra credit field trips that are actually really interesting! Definitely take him!
If you show up and listen and take good notes, you will pass. However you will most likely need to do the extra credit field trips to receive an A because the test are tricky and tough. Don't fret, the field trips are awesome, he is very passionate about his subject and opened my eyes to geography. Who knew mountains and deserts could be cool?
Heres whats up: 3 homework and 3 test based on those homeworks thats it. The homework can be done with a group so its easy the test itself isn't hard but how he words it will make u mess up. his motto is: If one part is wrong, all is wrong. Make sure to study your notes after class, record his lectures and review for test and studyread book
Most entertaining class of the semester for me. Professor Clennan draws from life experience to lecture you on this wonderful planet. He gives three homework assignments and three quizzes. They are designed to challenge your knowledge of the material. Fantastic extra credit hikes and overnight camping. This was a great class and instructor.
He is a wonderful teacher. He knows alot and will admit it if he doesn't know the answer to one of your questions. Has field trips during the semester for extra credit. He doesn't count absences but you will want to show up. He gives you all the notes for the tests and hw. 3 tests and 3 hw assignments. Pretty easy as long as you jot down some notes
Clennan is the best professor! He has great field trips and he is super helpful! He made me love geography even more! I am so happy I took this class! I am also taking his Geog 117!
This teacher is very passionate about his subject. He goes into grave detail about what he's teaching and makes it interesting. Attendance is mandatory, and the tests can be tough. Studying is definitely mandatory, but he does offer extra credit field trips. He made me wanna come to class every week.
Truly the best professor I've had. He's so passionate, committed, and dedicated to helping his students excel. Attendance is required, but this class is one you won't want to miss. Amazing, crystal-clear lectures. Clennan is truly there for his students, cares about them, and WANTS them to succeed! Will also be taking GEOG 104 and 117 with him.
One of my favorite professors at CSN. I was amazed by his teaching style and discipline. Tests on his Geog 103 class were though if you didn't take good notes or read the book. His lab class though is an easy A, no tests, no real hw, no formal lectures just go on all his field trips learn for your own good and have fun! Very kind gentleman.
Professor Clennan is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He is so passionate about his subject and knows how to present his materials so we enjoy the world as much as he does. His field trips are amazing and you bond with other students. If you go to study groups you are guaranteed AT LEAST a B. He is very clear.
really good professor! gives a lot of information really into what he teach's, honestly one of the best professor's I've had.
Professor Clennan's GEO lab is pretty fantastic. All you do is go on in class hikes. I saw some of the most beautiful scenery around Las Vegas. We hiked at Red Rock and Mt. Charleston mainly. Be ready to exercise. Some hikes are tough, but he is patient and ensures everyone makes it. Even us out of shape folks. Show up and pass. No book needed.
I found this class hard, I took it because I heard about field trips. But really you can take only one trip, so not so much extra credit. The tests are written in confusing way. I studied hard and knew every single definition from the review. But I was getting B's because I was confused by the way the test is worded.
Geography lab was incredible with Professor Clennan. We did a hike every week, yet it never felt like work or a chore. I was excited for every lab class and gained so much from it. Professor Clennan is a unique, special person who gives his students everything and more. Take 104 with him- you will grow as a person and will learn to savor nature.
Best class I've taken at CSN. Professor Clennan is incredible and always gives more than his fair share. If you are interested in the material, he will do everything possible to fuel your curiosity. 3 homeworks, 3 tests- not hard. He is always willing to help and does so with a smile. Truly the sweetest, wisest, most inspirational person I've met.
Love this professor! You have I think 4 hw assignments and you get like 3 weeks to do them. You can work with a study group to get them done. A week after the hw is due there is a test where the questions are almost identical to the hw. So study the hw answers! Extra credit hikes are a blast! I love camping so I went to Zion and Death Valley!
He is very passionate in teaching other, but one must do their part in reading each chapter and be ready to take the test. There are 3 test and extra credit is available.
Amazing teacher, amazing class.
Missing one class isn't an option. Being 5 min late might even be pushing it. He throws a lot of info at you very quickly. You need to be good at understanding concepts and not so much trivia about Geography to do well. That being said if you participate and ask questions you should do fine. FORM A STUDY GROUP THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS! It helps!
Professor Clennan is so passionate about geography and the success of his students. You need to attend lectures and take notes. He wants you to do more than memorize the material he wants you to understand. He offers extra credit in the form of hiking! It is awesome! You need the book. There are 3 homework assignments and 3 exams. Great Prof!!
Professor Clennan really tries to help students understand. Often I found myself overwhelmed by too much information that would not be on the tests. The tests are no joke. Long lectures but not too many assignments. He is a good teacher just be prepared to listen carefully through lectures and take great notes! Study Study Study for tests!!!!
The best professor for Geography! He is funny in his own nerdy way and his lectures are clear and to the point. All lectures perfectly coincide with his exams. I will be taking his other classes. Studying is necessary and the book as well. Multiple choice exams. Homework provided very helpful for the exams as well.
He is incredible. Have taken 3 classes from him and wish more were available. If you get the opportunity to take a class with him, take it- you won't regret it. He'll make you work, but he'll gift you with an invaluable education. If you take him, treat him well. He has a heart of gold. I took him over a year ago and he's a great, close friend now.
He is an amazing/eccentric professor and will make you work for your grade. You must pay attention to all his lectures, tests are straight from lectures. I recommend taking notes & recording lectures. Must have book and read assigned material. Pay very close attention to all material he gives you. Follow these guidelines and you will get an A+-B+.
He is amazing. i definitely recommend him for geography 103 class. lots of extra points. no quizzes, 3 exams and 3 homework. He takes students hiking and gives them up to 40 points extra credit which equals to one exam. take this class, you will fall in love with geography. He is an awesome professor. exams are from lecture, so take lots of notes.
3 exams, Exams are very tricky and difficult 3 homework, easy No quizzes Opportunities for extra work up to 40 points if you are willing to go hiking early morning on Fridays Take notes from his lecture Very knowledgeable man Great teacher , explains everything in detail and clear Attendance mandatory Clear grading criteria
he makes exams so tricky and difficult to force you to go hiking with him and earn extra credit points. So, even if you don't enjoy hiking , you have health issues or you don't have time for it, you have no other choice than going . 3 hw , no quizzes, 3 difficult, tricky exams . He is a nice guy but his method is WRONG
He is very knowledgeable, funny and awesome guy. definitely recommend his class. 3 hw, 3 exams, no quizzes.
I love his teachings! Very descriptive when explaining and draws pictures on the board for you to really grasp what he is saying. Gives extra credit!!! He is funny. Tests are a little hard though, trick questions. Takes roll right away!
Professor Clennan has very clear grading criteria. The course is made up of 3 multiple choice homework assignments and 3 multiple choice tests, and that's it. The homework and tests can still be challenging, this is definitely a class you need to pay attention to and participate. Extra credit is offered through attendance and field trips. #CloudMan
His lab class isn't your ordinary lab class. His class mainly consisted of hikes at Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, and other beautiful sites. He gave us one chapter review packet that he gives us the entire semester to do. His hikes are fun and the scenery is beautiful! He really knows his stuff and is very passionate about geography.
This professor is unbelievably condescending and sent me a very rude email because I missed a few classes. He claimed I acted like a high schooler, and if I was in fact in high school, that he needs their contact information. If you would like to be treated as if you were a child and needed your hand held every moment of the way take his class.
Best professor I've had at CSN. I highly recommend the extra credit field trips he offers as i made some lifelong friends because of it. His tests are tricky but it'll be fine as long as you attend lecture and study! I dropped the class because of personal reasons at home but will be retaking it with him next semester!
Amazing teacher! Everything on the tests is talked about in class and in the book. Attendance is mandatory in the sense that if you don't show up, you'll get behind pretty quickly. Listen to his advice, form study groups and take advantage of the extra credit field trips. He will get back to your emails within a day. Only grades are hw and tests.
3 scantron tests - 3 scantron homeworks for the whole class - options for extra credit (not a ton, but equals about one homework assignment) Tests were fairly easy if you pay attention in class. Tests are not cumulative and I would recommend reading the book AND going over your notes. No phone or computer in class and gives out 30 handouts.
Amazing prof. thoroughly explains everything and is extremely passionate about the environment, geology, and all that good stuff. Long, yet interesting lectures.
He is amazing. By far one of the best geography professors.
Mr Clennan is a good teacher, but he can get a little hard to understand sometimes. His field trips are a good way to get your grade up and they're also fun. The only thing is that his tests are like a puzzle, so make sure you study.
One of the sweetest professors I've had at CSN. He tells a lot of jokes and is kind of awkward but very enjoyable. Tests are hard, you choose which answer is the most true a majority of the time which makes it confusing but as long as you pay attention and go to class and study you'll pass. Offers plenty of extra credit, hikes and attendance count.
Really cool teacher! He's funny, motivational and gives extra credit. I will say however, his test are tricky and you really have to study hard for them. You always need to bring your textbook in his class. But, overall you will love this guy! Just study and do the extra credit!!
He is amazing! But beware of his test, tricky. You learn so much and it is actually very interesting even if you are doing it for credit. You don't want to miss a class because he goes over a lot of info. A lot of studying, but he does field trips for extra credit, they were super fun.
I took Prof. Clennan for GEOG 103 and GEOG 117. BOTH were exceptional classes! He's intelligent, inspirational, motivational, funny, awkward, and so lovable. He is the best professor I have yet to have! I went on his field trips and really got to know how wonderful of a human he is. I cried after I took my last final with him. HE'S AMAZING!!
Hands down favorite professor. Class is mandatory. As long as you take detailed notes and study, youll pass. He gives test answers in his lectures so write everything down. 3 HW, 3Exams. Thats it! Overall, youll gain more than what the text has to offer!
His lectures pretty much cover everything that the textbook covers so I only got the book to read and catch up in case I missed a class, otherwise he's very thorough in explaining everything the book talks about. 3 homeworks, 2 midterms and a final. Opportunities for study groups, offers hikes for extra credit, easy to fall behind if you miss class
3 homeworks 3 midterms. Professor clennan is over all a good teacher! The only thing challenging about the class are the test. They're very tricky!! you need to take notes and study or you won't pass. Extra credit opportunities by going on field trips.
Professor Clennan loves what he teaches and it shows. He makes it clear that he wants you to learn and he's going to use every minute to do so. 3 Homework assignments, 3 Tests. Pay attention and take good notes. The homework is easy but his tests are tricky. Multiple choice and True/False questions. He also tells cheesy jokes. I highly recommend.
My 2nd time taking him and for sure this class is harder than his 117 class. 3 homework's, 3 tests. He offers extra credit field trips which make the class GO ON THEM. The way he words the tests are not easy but if you study hard, form study groups, and attend the field trips you'll end up with a good grade. Love this man, highly recommend him.
Professor Clennan is one of the most passionate and inspirational professors I've had. Attendance and participation matters for extra credit. His test are difficult only because you cannot use process of elimination, there can be several right answers. You have to really understand the material in order to do well on the test.
he is the toughest grader i have ever met you have put in a lot of time and effort and field trips on Fridays & Saturdays you have study 10-14 hours a week, half the class didn't do so well on the second exam
the way he teaches is wrong, he combines 3 chapters on 1 test, the tests are hard and tricky its to hard for us, you have to A LOT of studying for this class, dont take this professor, its impossible to get an A in this class, I wouldn't take him again
He is a energetic old guy. Very nice but if you want to follow his schedule you need to get up very early. Study group between 7:007:45 am, field trips always start at 6:00am. Do your homework and attend the class, take notes well and you will be fine.
it took several days of studying for exams, and you have 3 tests and 3 HW, the tests are very hard! you have to cram for 3 chapters, attendance is mandatory ! dont take him! i went on his hiking trip was to long and camping trip,it was terrible we slept on the ground he doesn't let students use the bathroom during class
he takes 5 points off grade when talk to other students, 5 points away when your absent, leave early 5 points away, texting in class 5 points away, being tardy 3 points away, hall breaks 5 points away for any reason even for medical or family emergencys! His lectures are boring. dont waste your time with him like i did
He is one of the best professors that I have ever had. I liked his lectures. I learned many things in his class. I like to have a class with him again. If you want to have class with him, be punctual, attend study group, never use cell phone, never be late, do homework, and study very very well for his exams because questions are tricky.
his field trips were terrible he is a awful professor,we didnt sleep in a tent, the hike to red rock and kayaking trip was long and boring he is always ahead of us he has very high expectations for students, his 3 tests are hard! you have to give up a lot of free time for studying, trips on Fridays and Saturdays never answers emails AVOID HIM!
i dropped out because this teacher is too hard, difficult and rude. He requires a lot of time and i have kids and a job. he told me to "drop out if you have a full time job, kids, personal issues, health problems, car problems or blame others for your shortcomings" this class is not for everybody find a different professor for a good grade
WARNING!AVOID HIM! most annoying professor, he thinks he is funny he's not and he's jokes are terrible. Talks very fast, his hand writing is sloppy, doesn't care about his students his extra credit ways is wasting time on class trip on friday and saturday and we dont have time for it because of family and a job !
This professor is great he is so involved with his classes and really knows what hes teaching. Hes been to many of the places he talks about and explains them very well. The tests are not hard but the wording is you have to know the material. If you dont do well on the test there are a lot of extra credit options. Overall great teacher.
Doesn't upload notes and doesn't upload grades, his lectures are boring! sends annoying emails daily, he requires too much studying, field trips, and expects students to pay for the field trips $20-$80 dollars! gets upset when you leave the classroom, his exams are very hard!avoid him!
Was an okay professor but he knows what he is talking about and has a passion for it. Only grades in class are based on 3 different tests and 3 homework assignments. There is extra credit, based off of going on field trips, showing up to class, and offering additional help. Don't do good on the test you won't do very well in the class.
he makes the exams so hard that you have to go on his boring field trips, this professor is awful, he expects you to read the book everyday! i struggled a lot , half the class failed the first exam and his jokes are terrible. dont take his class!
i wish i read the reviews before i flunked out, he said his geog103 is easier than his geog101, he makes this class hard on purpose to make us work for it and i do not recommend him his field trips consists of 2 hours of driving then walking and climbing all day for 10-15 points extra credit does not help
he never responds to emails, gets offended when you leave early he is pompous, his class field trips were to long, never answers questions, he tends to favor some students, his tests are very hard, not similar to the homework not recommended
LONG RATING SHORT: all notes will be on exam, he recaps the exam the class before, field trips are tiring but fun, dumbs things down for you to understand, will help you if you ask, gives you ALL HW in advance, teacher isn't as bad as he sounds on the syllabus, likes you to be on time but doesn't get offended if you're late, but you'll miss notes.
If science is not your major or you struggle dont recommend him he talks to fast the tests are tricky, he mixes up the definitions on the test to confuse you, many other students agreed with me. we dont like his field trips and we rather do a pop quiz as extra credit
Professor Clennan is incredible. He is passionate about his field and it shows in the way he teaches. If you go to class, participate, and actually pay attention you are sure to do well. There are several opportunities for extra credit in the form of field trips that are a lot of fun. I highly recommend this class and this Professor.
I don't even know how he has 4.1 rating but this class is just straight high school vibes, never answered questions, mostly says he doesn't know and he'll get back to you but never will. NEVER UPDATES GRADES LIKE LITERALLY NOTHING UNTIL THE END OF SEMESTER OR UNLESS U ASK U WONT KNOW UR GRADE.
If you want to explore the outdoors & don't mind dedicating some days to extra credit trips, take this class! 3 challenging exams, but he encouraged us to actually understand the information in the text, not just regurgitate processes we didn't understand. Have an open mind and take his lab & lecture the same semester (it'll help your grade!).
I've met had the chance to meet so many people in this class. His extra credit assignments consist of going to hikes and trips (some near the city and some out of town). Everyone carpools and cooperates, so don't let that discourage you from enrolling. If your hands and time are over-occupied with family, children, etc, maybe not the class to take.
I loved this class! No quizzes, textbooks, tests, or boring labs. We were only in the classroom maybe twice during the semester. If you have time on your hands, enjoy the outdoors, and want to try a non-traditional lab (like no other), take this course! You definitely won't be disappointed.
Super nice guy! Gives 3homework assignments. You have 3 exams. You gotta really know the subject to do well. Gives plenty of extra credit via fun hikes and for helping out. Gives 72 pg syllabus that lets you know everything he expects. hw 30 pts each, tests 300 pts each, extra credit of up to 60, then grades respectfulness and attendance(important)
Loved this class! Only 2 in class meetings and the rest are fun hikes. Every hike is within the 3 hour lab class and then extended versions are offered for extra credit (usually an hour or two longer). Super sad it was cut off due to quarantine, debating taking again!
To do good in this class, you're going to have to keep up with the lessons. You have to read a chapter or two before the class starts to fully understand what he's talking about during the lecture. He is a good and caring teacher and will try to help you if you are struggling. The tests are what really matter in this class so don't forget to study.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I was a straight A student until I had him. When I lost points on an assignment he would not tell me what I did wrong. He said figure it out. His tests are worded bad and answers are not on quizlet. He does not teach; he says read the book. Lots of quizzes and 3 assignments. Only take him if you have friends in the class.
In March from the Midterm One I just flunk out of the midterm but I in Field Trip I do get 30/30. For three months from the Coronavirus, I got 100% from two Midterms, Homeworks, and Field Trips. In May 4 I got D- on the quiz, but I still got A on this class.
WORST PROFESSOR I've ever had! very difficult, very hard tests, he is not easy to deal with! if your major is not geology don't take him, before covid, he pressured us to take long and boring hikes on weekends, everyone hated it. he expects you to study 6-8 hours and go to study groups every day and does not answer questions AVOID HIM!!
I'm sure Professor Clennan is an amazing professor in person, but online teaching is not his specialty. There is a weekly quiz, but many of the questions are worded weirdly and are trick questions. Honestly his class is NOT worth it, despite being an easy A. Everything was so unnecessarily confusing and difficult.
WORST Professor in geography!!! he doesn't care about students, his tests are to hard and tricky, he expects you to study 6 to 8 hrs of geography weekly! everyone in class said his field trips are not worth the time and effort, AVOID HIM! I barely passed his class thanks to my study group. don't waste your time with him.
I'm sure Professor Clennan is a good in person however online he's pretty awful. His tests and quizzes are all T/F which is fine but each question is a trick question and it is so easy to mess it up. If you miss a test good luck because you can only make it up for half credit and it tanks your grade . 10/10 would no NOT recommend
AWFUL! AVOID HIM! his tests are too hard, he waits till the last 2weeks of class to update grades, his trips are boring, I studied 6 days a week and passed with a C, I asked him about a question on the study guide and he would say find it yourself
