Pay attention and you'll do fine.

This class is challenging, but worth taking if you have any interest in the legal process. Every lecture is very interesting, and Professor Deegan has an excellent manner of communicating with students.

Professor Deegan is a great teacher and what every teach should be; He's tough, fair and get his point across.

had him for infosystems 1, not a bad teacher at all, show up for the lab and skip the lecture and youll do fine, make sure you get the study guide and the book though for the lecture tests...easy A, and helpful

Interesting class discussions but very hard to pay attention to unless you are interested in what he is saying. His tests are hard to study for as well because he didnt give out study guides until asked for by the students. Acts like he knows everything.

Helpful teacher, but tests are impossible without being a lawyer. He says studying should be 3 to 4 hours per test when actually 24 hours is not enough. Tests are like playing the lottery. If you are not a lawyer dont take this class...impossible

Deegan's class is hard but one of the best classes I have ever taken. He definately tests your knowledge on the subject of study. He teaches students through examples and he has an extreme amount of knowledge when it comes to law. I liked him a lot and would take his class again!

Classes were the hardest ever taken... class was interesting ... learned more from these two classes then a whole year in college.

Extremely interesting class, but very difficult professor. His tests are TOUGH, but taking them in groups helps you do a little better. But I honestly enjoyed class and I feel that I learned a lot.

For you who dislike Deegan, it is your own fault. Granted, his tests are very difficult and require a good bit of studying, but he is a good teacher nonetheless. He makes himself available in his office and is willing to offer his assistance on just about any other issue that you ask him about.

Very intelligent professor who knows what he's talking about. Also very funny and interesting. You absolutely have to read every chapter covered to do well on tests but if you do, you can definitely get an A in the course.

The trick in doing well in this class is to read the book, and I'm not saying only once. Read it many times to be able to recall the information on tests. The class was very interesting, he explained the concepts pretty well, however he does not spoon-feed his students, be prepared to do some work

Deegan is a good teacher and keeps the class interesting. The tests first two tests are tough, but they get easier. I took BLAW as a night class and it felt like it went as fast as some of my 50 minute classes.

Deegan is a great teacher, unlike other teachers he doesnt want to see anyone fail. He does cover some tough material but it is well worth it. He is a great guy to know to. He will help you out any time you need. He even will come in on off days and hold review sessions.

Deegan is the best teacher in the business school. I loved everything about his class: great content, great lectures. He even showed a south park video clip to illustrate litigation! One complaint: we hardly ever used the remote control clickers in class. What a waste of money!

Definitely take this class, especially if you are thinking about law school. Deegan really will do anything to keep your attention. The first couple of tests are impossible, but the rest are easy and the final is a piece of cake. As long as you keep working, you shouldn't have any problem pulling out an A or B in the class.

This class is the best I've had at Duquesne so far. He makes class so interesting and time goes by so fast, you won't be watching your clock at all. The tests are super hard and everyone bombs the first one, but if you keep up you can at least get a B in the class. Take him!

One of the greatest teachers i have ever had. He really cares about what you get in the class. He takes time out and lets you come to a different class time if you can not make the one your are assigned too. A great teacher, if you havnt taken, sign up for a class and do, i recommand it.

He has this class down to a science. He understands that not everyone is into law but he makes it interesting and he is amazing at keeping your attention. First test was tough, but after that the class was cake; the final was open book!

There is no way around it. He is a difficult professor and you will be required to study for his tests. If you put forth an honest effort though, you will get an A. Hes a great teacher with a good sense of humor. If you attend class, you will have a good time.

YEEE HAAAWW...get ready because this is the greatest and most interesting class ever!! Granted it's hard but I actually look forward to going to his class. You will learn so much

Professor Deegan was an awesome professor

Deegan is helpful and keeps it interesting with his examples, even if you werent really interested in Business Law, like me. If youre looking for an easy A to pad your GPA so your parents keep giving you alcohol money, then dont take his class. However if youre actually at college to learn, the effort is well worth what you take out of the class.

Prof. Deegan is one of the best teachers at Duquesne! He makes you want to come to class and that helps because 90% of his tests cover class material. I recommend him to everyone because as long as you pay attention and get involved the class is fun and you really learn a lot.

Nice guy. Not too much studying required. As long as you go over the material once, you're fine. The tests weren't too hard and the class wasn't too boring.

He's a great teacher. You have to work hard, but you learn. Attendance is a must because the majority of the tests cover class material. He's really helpful outside of class. He wants you to succeed, so if you make the effort to see him he takes his time to help you. The tests are hard but if you study and talk to him for help, you'll do fine.

Deegan is outstanding. You MUST attend class, because all his tests cover the material he goes over. Take my advice, you NEED to study for EVERYTHING. You MUST read the book, and I mean 3 or 4 times to pass. Everyone fails the first test, so study HARD. The tests get easier as they go along, and he's always willing to help! go to his office hours!!

You actually learn something useful in his class. Yea, his tests are hard, but you will benefit from taking this class so it's worth it. Definitely read book, and don't skip class because the examples he uses will be similar to ones on test. Don't be afraid to meet with him, he may seem intimidating, but is actually really cool to talk to.

By far the greatest educational experience of my life. I actually enjoyed studying his notes because I would recall his lectures, which were phenomenal. Extremely intelligent and well-spoken, and "tough but fair," so to speak. Not easy, but doable with a bit of work. His class inspired me to go to law school. Seriously. He's that good.

Professor Deegan is probably the best professor I have ever had the pleasure to meet at Duquesne University. Fair, funny, brilliant, and a terrific speaker. had him freshman year for Business Law. AWESOME GUY. go visit him during his office hours. He looks at that kind of stuff when giving final grades. Most will fail the first test so dont worry. Keep studying for the 2nd test and final, and you will do fine. Very hard to get an "A" but still very interesting. Loved taking Deegan.

Recommend atteding class & taking notes, than go & read the material just covered. It will make it much clearer. Pop quizzes occassionally. Tests aren't too difficult - label your book! Book, Notes & study guide allowed during quizzes & tests. Highly recommend buying study guide that goes along with the book - helped tremendously!

He's one of the most educated man I've ever met. and he's also really nice and gentle. he knows everything he's talking about, and the quizes, exams are open book and open note. even though the exams are not easy, he's very generous in grading. if you wanna learn something, take him.

Currently in my second class (Commercial Transactions) with him. His Business Law 251 class sparked my interest enough to change my focus onto legal studies. Makes you work your ass off but your study habits will improve which will help you in other classes as well. Don't be afraid to talk in class or to visit his office (it helps your grade).

Definitely have to study for his tests. They are rough. But his class is enjoyable and he is pretty good at getting his point across. Take him if you can... it will be a rough class that definitely requires studying but in the long run you will be thankful.

Professor Deegan, is one of the best professors I have ever had. While he might be tough he is always there to help. Make sure you go to class. If you pay attention the material is very interesting and it can give you a leg up on others when out in the real world. I highly recommend his Commercial Transactions class. Its my third class with Deegan.

I am currently earning my J.D. (law degree at a top 14 law school) and I wanted to advocate for Professor Deegan's classes. He knows what he is talking about and he know's how to prepare undergrad students for law school. If you have an interest in law school Deegan is the professor to take.

Probably the best professor I've had so far. Business law is not easy but his lectures are great and he provides plenty of real world examples that help immensely. You won't pass if you skip class and don't study. Between the book, lectures, and office hours, he gives you plenty of material to study from. If you don't pass it's your own fault.

Very very tough class, and regardless of your teacher BLaw isn't easy. I didn't realize until the end of the semester that this guy really cares about his students and is a very nice person. You MUST study for the tests unless you want to end up with a D or fail the course.

This class is super hard and does require a ton of work if you want to do well, BUT Deegan is such a great teacher. He is SO passionate about what he does and you really do learn a lot about the law throughout the semester. I found this class to be super interesting. First 2 tests are really hard but the final is open note which helps your grade.

Lectures are extremely clear, but there is a lot of content to remember. Debates his students to get them to think. Fun guy and thought-provoking, probably makes the class about as interesting as it can be. You will learn a lot but will have to work for it. Great professor for people who like to think for themselves, not just memorize.

Overall, Deegan is a humorous, captivating professor who really challenges you to think! His lecturing style can be slightly intimidating at first but understand he's not always looking for the right answer, but to get you THINKING about the right answer. This is a very HARD class but not impossible. honestly, before taking this class I thought that "A" is impossible. Very interesting lectures and examples! I respect Prof Deegan. He challenges us and makes us work for the grade we earn.

Prof. Deegan's class was my favorite (but most challenging) class so far at Duquesne. You'll learn a lot, but you have to go to class, pay attention, and participate to do well. Study hard for the exams and be sure to read everything very carefully.

Although Business Law was a challenging course, the resources and teaching provided by Dr. Deegan significantly tipped the scales in my favor. Thanks to him, I passed the class. Dr. Deegan explains concepts thoroughly and regularly improves the morale of the students; by that I mean he gives you a chance to learn from mistakes and improve.

The only 9:25AM class I've ever been awake for and THRIVED in. It's definitely hard but if you're in it because you're going into law, it's an amazing class! He warns everyone that it is difficult to get an A and it is - it's definitely possible though if you commit to it! I went from having a bad first exam grade to a final A! :) amazing professor

Only graded by quizzes & exams. Quizzes are easy but exams are difficult. You need to read the book to do well. He does not put grades into canvas until the end of the semester. He really does care about his students and will sit down with you to go over a study plan that works best for you. Really good guy but glad to be done with the class.

Professor Deegan is a great professor. I took his BLAW course over the summer, and I felt that within those 6 weeks, I learned a lot. Graded on quizzes and tests. Two assignments, which he leaves comments on so you are able to review the concepts. If you know him outside of class he seems very outgoing and cares about students. very knowledgeable

He is a good professor and a good guy. Our final was optional and every exam was open note. He definitely is harsher on underclassmen but he was good for seniors. He is willing to help you and wants you to be involved in class. He made the class easier than it actually was. Go to class and pay attention and youll do good

Professor Deegan is awesome, and respects those who put in the effort to learn. Underclassmen may be a bit uncomfortable by his probing and Socratic style but in this class upperclassmen understand that this is to ultimately benefit them. Optional final and gave challenging but fair open note exams throughout the year. Invested in student success.

Professor Deegan's BLAW251 course is challenging but rewarding. Attendance is mandatory, and the exams are notoriously difficult, so staying on top of the textbook and participating in class is crucial. Unstuck ai proved helpful for my study prep, along with other resources like ChatGPT.

Prof Deegan is the best, and I would highly suggest anyone interested in business law as a career path to take him. He definitely prepares you for law school. He may seem tough but it helps you, trust the process.

Fantastic professor and makes class interesting. He gives many scenarios for the topics he talks about, which makes it very helpful when trying to understand. Tests are open notes(not sure for honors though) TAKE NOTES and try to attend every class. Slides are not posted. Would recommend!

Have to read and take good notes otherwise you are screwed. Attend class and pay attention to how he explains topics and you will be good. Try and meet with him outside of class as well.
